Setting
Sabrina had her IPod on high as she looked out the window. Nothing but trees lined the road, the cabin they were on their way to was shared by the four families it always had been. The parents had all been high school friends well most of them for that matter so the four girls had grown up together an even though they didn’t all go to the same school or get to see each other as often as they’d like to, they were still closer than ever.
“We’re here.” Sabrina’s father announced though with her eyes closed and her IPod on high she couldn’t hear.
She felt someone shake her, she yawned lightly even though she hadn’t been asleep as she pulled out one of her head phones. “Baby were here” her sister Molly smiled.
She gave her sister a small smile back. She got out of the car tucking her IPod into her backpack as she looked up at the cabin on the hill, she sighed, this would be her life for the next three months of summer. Not that she minded it was better than the city, she thought watching her sister follow after her father as he unlocked the door. Sabrina headed inside going straight to the room her and Molly shared. The door read Baby and Molly, she opened the door throwing her stuff on the green zebra print bed.
“Nothing’s changed.” She sighed to herself as she sat on her bed.
Drake walked silently through the woods. He wore a long black robe over himself as to protect him from the light peeking through the trees. He hated sunlight as it irritated his skin giving him somewhat of a burn which he could feel straight to his bone. He usually didn't travel during the day and if it had been anything else he would have waited till dusk and then went out but this was special.
She was back.
He had learned only a few weeks ago and has non stopped traveling towards her. He was getting close but there was still a shred of doubt in his mind. He thought his insanity might have made a return. He didn't truly know if it was true or not but he wanted to get to her.
He didn't make any showing haste but inside he was bouncing everywhere. He didn't want to think about anything but her for the moment but knew he needed a steady supply of humans and the ship he had came in was slightly suspicious of him so he couldn't get full meals like he did with the hikers at his home. His stomach growled and he sighed knowing he would have to kill another human soon or else go into his true form and go on a rampage...
Dylan hopped into the car with her older sister Katie, her younger sister Megan, and her mom. Katie, of course, rode shotgun which left Dylan sitting next to Megan. Dylan loved her younger sister but she got irritating after awhile. After an hour or so of trying to entertain her, Megan fell asleep. It only took a few more minutes for Dylan to fall asleep as well. She hadn't slept well the night before because a nightmare kept waking her up. It was the same nightmare she had been having for the past week. Her nap in the car would be no different.
'Dylan was walking through the woods hand in hand with someone she couldn't quite make out, she wasn't even sure if the figure was a man or a woman but she knew she had to have known them really well. She felt as though she were in love with the person she was holding hands with, but that just confused her more. She couldn't understand why she didn't know the person's name or see their face yet she loved them. Before she could fully understand what was going on dark hands grabbed her and pulled her away. She was being dragged and a gag was tied in her mouth. The next thing she knew she was on fire.'
Dylan woke up screaming and Megan woke up with a start as well. Her mom almost slammed on the brakes. "What in the WORLD Dylan?!" she asked with both fear and anger in her voice. Dylan breathed hard and finally composed herself enough to speak. "I'm really sorry...It's the same nightmare. I'm kidnapped and burned alive." she said softly. "Again? It might be time for us to bring you to a sleep specialist Dyl. You haven't slept well in weeks and you're starting to worry me" her mom responded "No, I'm okay. I'll be fine. It will probably go away soon. I mean, I can't have the same dream FOREVER right?" Just as she spoke they pulled into the cabin driveway. Megan grimaced. She had no desire to be staying in a cabin for 3 months away from her friends.

It was that smell agian. It could be smelled the instante it entered the woods that Nathen lived in. Once he tracked it to the sorce, a ca, he ran along beside it in his wolf shape and stayed out of veiw. Once the car reached its destenation Nathen watched from the shadows as the actual sorce of the scent got out of the car. Her pack got out as well and they all walked up to the cabin that they would stay in almost every summer. Nathen turned around and headed back into the woods. 'Why even bother with this?' He couldn't come to any rational conclusion. It always left him confused when that women showed up which mayed him stay away from her. Confusion can be dangerous when your more animal then human at times. Some times it created openings for the baser animal instincts to take hold. Looking up at the sky he growled to himself. It was going to be a full moon tonight and it always mayed him act like an animal.
He left the man unconscious and after taking his clothes ran as if his life depended on it, with a feeling akin to happiness, as if what he was looking for was close he didn't know what it was or wanted to remember but still he kept running when finally calmed down he was in front of the welcome sign, his eyes scanned the place, it was a simple town surrounded by trees like many others that he had been, the difference was that nostalgic feeling so he decided to stay here in the town a while, at least until he could get rid of that useless feeling, walked through the trees while deciding whether it would camp outdoors or just borrow one of the cabins for a moment the thought that maybe the owners would be reluctant to leave him alone but the thought vanished as fast as came, as if there was something they could do to stop him.
Ella snapped. "Oh really?! Would mom respect you now? I'd like to see you go one day without a bottle of whisky in one hand and a cigarette in the other. At least try to face the greif that I deal with every day!" she shouted at her father, leaving the car with her bag slung over one shoulder and her dog close by her side. She slammed the door, and started off without looking back.
Her hands quivered and her eyes stung with a mix of anger and sadness. She shook out her clothes and rubbed wildflowers against herself, trying to erase the scent of her father. She walked on the forest path alone, other than Koda (her dog) faithfully walking beside her.
“Baby! The Carvers are here!” Molly said as she ran into the room that she shared with her older sister. Molly grabbed her sister’s hand to pull her off the bed much like an excited little sister would. Sabrina sighed softly she loved her family but she was already slightly irritated with them.
“Molly listen, I’m not feeling well, do you think you could cover for me if I go out for a bit?” she said giving her sister a soft smile.
Molly thought for a moment frowning a bit “Yeah…but when are you going to be back?”
“I’ll be back in an hour I promise then we can play some cards, everyone should be here by then.” She smiled kissing her sisters cheek.
“Alright just be careful alright.” Molly said giving her sister a worried look as she headed towards the window.
It was easier for Sabrina to sneak out of her and Molly’s room considering it was on the first floor facing the back yard that turned into a forest within seconds. She walked quickly entering the forest and following a path that would lead her to a meadow, it was a secret that only her Dylan, Lorna, and Ella knew about. Think back on it now she wasn’t exactly sure how they had found it in the first place or they had known their way back, because in all honesty it wasn’t close by and they had been going to this particular meadow without their parents since they were kids. It was the one place they had made a blood pact, that whatever they talked about their, stayed there.
After walking for what seemed like for every she reached the meadow, it was like something you would see only in a movie, purple flowers covering every inch of the ground, as tall as her knees, you could just lay down and fallow asleep and no one would find you. She smiled as she walked out to the middle and laid in the flowers, closing her eyes listening to all the sounds around her, it was the most relaxed she’d felt since last summer when she was here.
Dylan was still shaking a bit when they unpacked their things into their rooms. Megan and Dylan had to share a room. She laughed "We should really think about redesigning these rooms. I'm not 12 anymore." then she laughed even harder as she realized that MEGAN was 12 years old, and that she probably liked the set up of the room. "Sorry megs." she said with a smirk on her face. Her mom and Katie also shared a room.
When Dylan finished unpacking, which she did quickly, she told her mom that she was going to go for a walk and her mom just nodded lazily. She'd seen Sabrina go off into the woods, probably to the meadow, but Dylan wasn't planning on going that far. She stopped by a tree and sat down underneath it. She loved the look of the sun wafting through the trees. It was the perfect temperature outside, it wasn't too hot and there was a slight breeze. Sleepiness came over her like a wave and she ended up falling asleep again. That's when the dream started again. Except this time she knew what was coming in the dream, and she couldn't make herself wake up. She started whimpering and shifting while she slept.

Nathen was sleeping in the tall grass at the edge of a meadow. He wasn't even really sleeping, he was just beeing lazy. There wasn't much to do besides sleep, eat, and chace squirrls, a habit that for all these centurys he had never been able to stomp out. As he slept curled up with the wind blowing on his fur he caught the scent of the girl agian. This time it was strong and close by. 'This was bad' he thought as he got up on four paws. Looking around he almost had a heart attack when he saw the girl 20 feet from where he was sleeping. 'How did I not notice her' he thought. Flatening himself against the ground he tryed to stayed hidden in the tall grass. Looking behind him he realized that the tree line was too thin to hide him. Staying where he was would be his best bet and hoping he remaind unseen. 'Why remain hidden thou' he questioned himself. 'so what if some girl sees me, its nothing to worry about' but try as he might he couldn't make himself just get up and walk away.
The farm looked nice not like a puppy mill or something the only dogs being the puppies, and their parents. All the dogs where healthy and at the right age to leave their mother.
"We had some people who requested puppies back out on us" said the woman who had greeted them at the door. "Would you like to look at them?" she asked watching Lorna coo and call at them.
Lorna smiled and then looked at her mother who was getting anxious to get back on the road. She then nodded and Lorna went into the pen with puppies.
She was bombarded by little tongues and cute barks, then one little female practically jumped up into her lap.
The woman smiled and looked at Lorna's mother, "Well she seems to like you, what do you think mom?" she said with a chuckle.
Lorna looked at her mother "Mom please..." she begged.
Her mother then laughed and nodded her head "Yes, I suppose consider it and early birthday present. We'll have to stop and get supplies for her before we head to the cabin but I think we can swing it. And I know the girls will love the fact that there's a puppy in the house".
Lorna had been dozing with the puppy in her lap when she felt the car stop and her mother cut the engine off.
"We're here!" said Lorna's mother with a smile glad that the long drive was over.
Lorna sat up and looked out the window at the cabin that she had spent many a summer in. As far back as she could remember they had been coming here. She unbuckled herself and got out of the car, they were late it looked as though everyone was already there.
"See your little side trip put us about a an hour behind everyone else" said her mother. "Go ahead bring the puppy in and see if we can get some extra hands to get the luggage?" she said.
Lorna nodded and headed up the steps to the house and then heard the honk of a horn she turned thinking it was her mother. But it wasn't her mother was looking around as well, she shrugged and went into the house.
"Hello everyone!" she called out cheerfully with the puppy cradled in her arms.
He crouched down beside he and ran his fingers through Dylan's silky blonde hair. He had always liked the way she slept even though she tossed and turned it was cute in his eyes. He made sure there was no direct sunlight and he took off his hood. He got a better look at the girl and she was infact the same girl Drake had fallen in love with. "My princess just as lovely as ever." his stomach growled and knew he didn't have long before he would change again. He pulled out an amulet he had given her before her death and placed it around her neck. He kissed her forehead. "Farewell my princess." with that he put his hood back over his head then started to walk away toward the town so that he could find an animal or possibly a human to keep his hunger at bay.
Dylan's dream was more intense than the last few. She not only felt the fire licking her skin but she also felt a deep sorrow, though she didn't understand why. While she was standing in the fire she could have sworn that she heard someone talk to her. "My princess just as lovely as ever" the voice made her jolt awake. For a moment she still felt the burning but only on her neck. Her hand moved to the area, the burning sensation stopped just as her hand touched it. 'What is this?' she thought, looking down at the object around her neck. 'Where did it come from?' she knew she should've been more shocked at the events that took place but she couldn't help but feel a strange comfort. She looked at it a few moments longer and then hoisted herself off the ground.
'How long have I been out?' she thought, heading back toward the cabin. When she got back into the house Lorna was just arriving with her mom...and a puppy. "Hey Lorna!" Dylan smiled and hugged the girl then she pet the dog's head. "When did you pick up this beauty? And what's her name?"
"Who are you!?" he asked her but before hearing the answer ran, didn't want to know, wouldn't relate to her, he didn't want to kill her... something akin to shame arose inside Gryffen and he just kept running, putting as much distance between him and the blonde girl, he ran aimlessly until he saw a car with a young man inside, just what needed to calm down.
Jumped on the car hood and prepared to kill him but after do anything he realized that wasn't human, after living for more than five centuries was expected to have met with one or two supernatural beings and even though he could never differentiate between different types could tell when something was human and when not.
The encounter with this kind of being was much better than a mere human, at least they could keep him busy for days and in the best or worst, it depended on his mood, one would be able to kill him effectively.

"Where's your mother?" he asked.
"Out at the car do you mind helping getting our luggage?", Lorna asked him politely. He nodded and made his way out the front door of the cabin.
Lorna smiled and watched him pass that was when she caught glimpse of what was around Dylan's neck "Hey, Dill whats that it's really pretty an early birthday present or something" she said looking at it more closely. It was a beautiful amulet and it looked very old. The style was like nothing she had seen before, but it still seemed familiar. Lorna couldn't put her finger on it but she could have sworn she had seen it before somewhere. She shrugged off the moment of Déjà vu, and started to head to the bedroom that she and her mother had shared for many summers.
"Home sweet home" she smiled as she opened the door, the little puppy following at her heals. She turned back to Dylan "Where's the other birthday girls" she asked as her mother and Sabrina's father began to bring there things into the room.
"Mine" he said his voice dark and deep. He dashed up then tackled the deer as the others scattered. Drake held him down and extended his pearl white fangs before plunging them into it's neck making a splatter over the ground under him. Drake then sucked the meat dry the carcass turning pruned and dry as he continued.
When Drake finished his wings retracted and he pulled his fallen hat off the ground and out it on his head. It was starting to get dark so he decided the cloak would be unnecessary for now. He walked causally the blood still visible on his fangs as he wore a smirk on his face.
He then saw Sam and he rushed over beside him sneaking up. "Well ,well ,well if it isn't Sammy boy. So hows it been, your mum still watching over ya?" he said laughing slightly.
Dylan smiled "That would be so awesome, but you should only let us HELP you decide. After all it is your dog now...and that's SO COOL that you guys just stopped off and bought a dog. Very spontaneous" Sabrina's dad entered the room and asked where Lorna's mom was and then went off to help her unload luggage. 'Just like a family' the thought gave her that cliche 'warm' feeling, and she was glad to be where she was in that exact moment.
"Hey, Dill whats that it's really pretty an early birthday present or something" Lorna asked. "Actually...its weird...and this is going to sound crazy but I was walking in the woods and I stopped to sit under my favorite tree, well I ended up falling asleep, and when I woke up I was wearing it." She realized how crazy that sounded but it was the truth, there was no other way to phrase it.
"I think I saw Sabrina leave. Probably on a walk like she usually does." Dylan smiled. "and i'm not quite sure where Eleanor is." 'Hopefully her father isn't in one of his moods again' she thought.

Sabrina opened her eyes the sun was lower, meaning at least two hours had to have passed, she was going to owe Molly big time, she thought to herself. She sat up rubbing her eyes gently, before rubbing her arms trying to make them warm, it had gotten a bit colder while she was napping. She stood up stretching a bit, before letting out a soft Absentminded yawn.
She looked around the woods a bit a light mist had fallen over the woods which was odd this time of year, but she wasn't all that worried. She figured she better head back to the house. She started to walk, she walked for a while but the farther she walked the heavy the mist seemed to get almost turning into. A heavy fog, making it incredibly hard for her to see.
"Damn it." she frowned "I can't be lost..." she sighed getting slightly frustrated as she continued to walk though it seemed like she was walking in circles.
She must not have been paying attention, because the next thing she knew she was lying on the floor her knee bleeding and cut open pretty good. She had. Tripped over a large tree branch.
"perfect" she mumbled to herself.

Nathen watched as the girl got up after her nap. When she was fully awake she started heading back to her house. At this point Nathen knew he should turn around and walk away, especially with the full moon only an hour or two away, but instead of following reason he found himself trotting a ways behind her, keeping just enough distance to stay out of sit. As fog rolled in it became obvious that she was lost.
Nathen paused when he saw her trip and fall, the smell of blood drifting over to him. Lost and injured, in a normal circumstance this would have made her easy prey to him but instead he found himself doing something he hadn’t done in years, he was taking on his human form. Bones snapped as they reshaped and aligned themselves until Danny stood in his human form.
As he walked over to her he kept repeating in his mind over and over again, ‘what am I doing, what am I doing,’ Bending down in front of her he used his voice for the first time in many years to ask, “can I be of assistance?”

Sabrina sighed softy, more irritated with the fact that she had tripped then actually worried about her bleeding and being lost. She took the bandana she was wearing and wrapped it around her knee, before jumping frightened by a voice that somehow seemed familiar, in the most unfamiliar way. She looked up seeing a guy that looked to be about the same age as her, she had seen him before, she quickly shook the thought, that sounded crazy.
She was so caught off guard by his sudden appearance, she hadn't even heard what he'd said "I...um...I" what the hell is wrong with me, she thought, she had never had a problem talking to the opposite sex, especially not a guy as attractive as the one in front of her.
"I have to be dreaming" she mumble to her self feeling her head to make sure she wasn't sick. This all seemed to happen out of nowhere. She glanced back to him "great your a murder right." she said in a completely serious tone and immediately wished she hadn't.

She was surprised at his laughing reaction, why would he still be talking to her if he was going to do away with her it would be easy all the way out here. She decided it was safe to assume he was probably hiking and saw her fall on her face. She frowned at that embarrassing thought. She smiled to him as he helped her up.
"I think I'll be alright to walk." she lied in all honesty it hurt and she really just wanted to sit down, but she was already embarrassed enough. "but I could use an escort back home" she smiled "unless of course your busy" she said quickly not eating it to sound like she was helpless or needing him and as weird as it sounds she had to keep herself for hugging him.

Nathen stared at her for a second before he said, “If your hurt its best to say so.” Then smirking Nathen leaned over and picked her up princess still. “Girls who aren’t honest about being hurt or not deserve a little teasing,” he said as he adjusted her in his arms. ‘If she was going to lie about her health then he was going to mess with her for it’ he thought. He paused for a second as he felt a strong sense of de ja vuw. He then turned and started walking in the direction he knew her house was.
"Well thats... odd magically appearing necklaces sounds like something out of vampire teen romance movie or something" she said laughing a little. "As long as the vampire guy doesn't sparkle we'll be okay" she said jokingly.
Lorna smiled as things got settled in the room her mother was unpacking and putting the clothes in their respective dressers. "Why don't you go spend some time with the girls I got control of this. As soon as I'm done I might take a nap, so you'll know where to find me" she said with a smile.
Lorna nodded, the puppy had found a little spot on one of the beds to sleep so she decided to leave her new little friend be. She made her way to the back porch thats when she noticed coming up the trail from the woods Sabrina being carried bridal style by a very handsome guy.
"Well look at this wow Sabrina some girls got all the luck" she said teasing her friend.
