Introduction

After the events of the Third Division (also known as World War III), Japan divided itself into two sides. The CFC decided that they would rule over the Northeast side of Japan. The Nikkou Group, on the other hand, had taken over the Southwest of Japan. Between the two sat Japan's capital city, Tokyo, which now goes under the name of Toshima. The city fell to ruins after the Third Division, and is now home to some of the worst criminals known throughout Japan as well as an infamous drug ring, known as Vischio. Though Toshima is lawless and without order, Vischio rules over the city to some extent, and has taken to having a little fun with it.
However, somewhere down the line, the city was invaded by both the CFC and the Nikkou Group in the military's attempt to bring N back into its control. It was a failed attempt, naturally, and N escaped. Both sides gave in eventually, returned to their cities and left Toshima alone. It didn't take long for criminals to recapture it. The more powerful of criminals took over the Vischio, while others were tossed onto the streets and once again made to participate in Igura.

The drug ring, originally under the leadership of a man named Abritro, created a sort of game; it resembles poker in its rules, but the game centres around the idea of survival. The winner of the game was given the chance to challenge its behind-the-scenes leader, Shiki (also known as Il-re). The true leader has changed from Shiki to another male, in the same way as the fake leader has changed from Arbitro to another.
As mentioned earlier, Igura has rules that are similar to any poker game. Players are given Dog Tags, one which must be around the participants neck at all times to show that they are playing the game. Each Dog Tag is engraved with the markings of the cards in a poker game. To be able to challenge the leader, they must collect Dog Tags from other players, usually by force, until they have collected a Royal Flush (10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace). Only when an opponent has been defeated (either when the opponent allows his/her back to touch the floor or their life is taken) may a player collect the Dog Tag. It's a game of chance, basically. Any Tags from 2-9 (Junk Tags) are not part of a Royal Flush and are otherwise seen as useless in reaching the leader, but they may be used as a form of currency; they can be traded for supplies in any of the neutral areas dotted around Toshima. Each player is given five random Dog Tags to start with.
The rules for the game are as follows:
1. Any and all melee weapons are not against the rules and may be used as desired, but no firearms are ever allowed.
2. Taking drugs to enhance skills is not against the rules, it is actually encouraged.
3. No surprise attacks (it is considered cowardly); all fights must be started as a straight-forward duel.
4. Dog Tags must be won fairly in a fight, not stolen whilst their original owner's guard is down.
5. No fighting, taking Dog Tags or murder will happen in any of the available neutral areas.
6. Once you're in the game, there's no getting out again.
Breaking these rules will result in death, nothing more and nothing less. Of course, there are a selected few who enforce these rules and ensure that anyone breaking them is dealt with accordingly. Some call them Executioners, and they work under the direct orders of the leaders. They also clean away the bodies.

Rain is a common liquid drug used and sold throughout Toshima. When consumed, the drug enhances physical and mental attributes; not a great deal of them, usually it heightens a particular sense and enhances either strength, speed or agility (commonly not the latter, unless you are among the few who can withstand the drug better than most). It is used amongst participants regularly, and is often encouraged by Vischio. It can be purchased from any of the neutral areas in exchange for a certain number of Junk Tags. While the drug may seem like an easy way to get ahead, the aftereffects are devastating; if used constantly, it can kill its consumer. However, like most addicting drugs, the withdrawal symptoms are even worse. It becomes as vital as breathing after a while.

Neutral areas are rare but they are dotted around the city and are often just buildings as opposed to whole areas. These places are for those who need to rest, purchase supplies or form alliances with other participants. No violence ever happens in these areas, because to do so would be to break the rules.
The original neutral areas are as follows:
1. The large hotel.
2. The "Meal of Duty" bar.
Also - Additional neutral areas can be found at parks, public service buildings or religious ground.

For this roleplay, there's an unlimited amount of characters that I'll be accepting. I'd like to have at least 8 main characters before we begin, but more characters may be added after so you won't be left out. There are also a few characters that absolutely need to be included, like the leaders and executioners. The rest are all participants.

[To be added]

1. The standard RPG rules apply; no fighting (OOC), no racism/discrimination, bunnying or power-playing.
2. This RP will definitely include gore and foul language, as well as the possibility of scenes of a mild sexual nature. You've been warned.
3. You've got a limit of three characters per account. I'll rarely make exceptions.
4. Be mature. Joking around is all well and good, in fact it is highly encouraged, but don't be a baby and throw temper tantrums when things don't go your way. It's irritating.
5. Anime face claims only, please. Also, none of the original characters from 'Togainu no Chi' will be included here, that goes for face claims too.
That's pretty much it, I guess. Feel free to message me if you've got a question.

Re: Toshima: Game of Survival
I would like to reserve Executioner #1 if that's alright with you. I've briefly played TnC, so I know the basic storyline/concepts.
Favorite character: Gunji, so my character would end up being similar.
Thanks!
