The super-continent pangaea world known as Lyte has had it's fair share of warfare, but in the end there has always been peace. Three kingdoms have proven themselves worthy of global impact, and thus these large powerhouses formed an unbreakable treaty known as a triumvirate. In it, it states that these three kingdoms became the three voices of the world for all to hear. Although culture, religion, and traditions varied greatly by borders, the golden age of Lyte had come.

To the Northwest was Nuemria; the Red Kingdom. The most populous kingdom, Nuemria boasts a highly progressive-imperialistic culture. Organized and perhaps the most "modern" when it comes to the time period.

To the Northeast was Yusinostra; the Green Kingdom: a land of simplicity in both culture and lifestyle. This highly-spiritual kingdom is known for its monkish ways, its deep connection with nature, and its peoples' nonindulgent way of life.

To the South was Hutchest; the White Kingdom. Traditionalists to the core, these people forgo many modern advances in favor of old practices of honor. Not to be deterred, the builders and architects of this region are legend.

All three of these Kingdoms recognizes the others' authority. After all, the world of Lyte is a massive place, and there is room to grow for everyone. Joining the race of men were a race of fearsome creatures known as dragons. Though their appearance may suggest otherwise, the dragons were peaceful and solitary creatures who would only hurt to defend or protect. Though the sighting of a larger dragon near one of the towns of men would cause some anxiety, no alarms were ever raised, for it was never needed. As long as men did not interfere with the dragons, the dragons did not interfere with men.

The sky beasts were known to come in four breeds:

ImageGreen Dragons were the most numerous: 32 have been known to exist. Although the smallest dragon (an adjective I use here loosely), they were ferocious protectors of whatever they deem worthy of their protection. Usually this was a large tract of forest land that they claimed as their hunting grounds. Because of their smaller size and green scales, they can blend into the forest nicely.

Blue Dragons were the second most numerous with 22 known to ever exist. These dragons were the sentinels of the many shores and waterways of Lyte. Slim and slender, their long wingspan gave them unrivaled speed and maneuverability during flight. Arguably the most well-rounded dragon. After the blue breed, the size of dragons start increasing dramatically.

Red Dragons are the first to take dramatic change in size. The adult red dragon is nearly twice the size of an adult blue or green dragon. Red dragons were the second most rare, with only 10 ever known to exist. These dragons thrived in the harsher climates of Lyte, like near active volcanoes or in the desert. As such, this species has had to learn to adapt to different environments, making it the most intelligent of the breeds. Unlike any other of its kind, red dragons would indulge in hobbies, such as collecting gold, or sculpting molten lava.

Black Dragons were the most mysterious, fearsome, and rare among the breeds, as only 2 have ever been known to exist, and they existed at separate times. As such, the way they came about is a mystery. These creatures were so massive, they were once thought to be monsters. With each step, the earth beneath their feet quaked and each flap of their wings created a gust powerful enough to uproot trees. They were the living apocalypse, and the shadows of the world.

And then, one day everything changed. Man was pitted against dragon for the first time.

Although some believe it's just a story, the legend goes a simple farmer was clearing a small portion of forest to make room for a new addition to his farmland. Little did he knew, the land he encroached upon were the hunting grounds of a immensely territorial green dragon. When the enraged dragon showed up, it began burning the man's farm to cinders. To protect his family, the farmer fought the dragon. With naught but a pitchfork, the man somehow slew the beast.

ImageThe man became a hero overnight. Surely someone who could take on a dragon is a person of beyond notable power. The king of Nuemria himself invited this man to his court where he would eventually become a noble of extreme standing and wealth, all because he slew a dragon.

Dragon hunting became very popular within the kingdom of Nuemria. As you may imagine, many now though they could increase their stature if they too slew a dragon. Many died on this quest, but that only made it that much more amazing if an individual did manage to kill one. In time, the sport became popular even among the royal family and noted warriors.

The custom would eventually spread into Hutchest, where a few dragonslayers became famous, but the sport remained largely in the Red Kingdom. Eventually, the dragons' numbers began to dwindle, and Red King's personal dragon hunters, the Jamuntetai, started searching the other kingdoms.

Before long, even the craftiest dragons fell prey to the Jamuntetai's unnatural senses. Before anyone could realize their mistake, the last dragon perished, and dragons became extinct.

For over 400 years dragons faded into legend, but the loss of the great race was never forgotten. Guilt plagued mankind, and the same dragon hunters that were once revered were shamed.

Now we live in a time without dragons, or so we thought. Fifteen years prior, a secret group that called themselves the Draconic Vigil came out of hiding, proclaiming that the world is ready to know their secret: that dragons were NOT extinct; that they had in their possession a sizable clutch of dragon eggs, ready to hatch under the right circumstances. The entire world became overjoyed. It was a chance to wash away the dishonor of the their past mistakes.

The king of Hutchest was especially delighted by the news, so much that he granted the Vigil a small portion of his land to be a sanctuary so that they dragons may grow up in peace. It was the hope of the Vigil that with cooperation from the three kings, dragons could be reborn at the side as men, as companions, equals, and friends. This land became to become known as Dracona Valley.

Where you come in!

Fifteen years after the founding of the sanctuary, you will be taking the role of a Guardian; someone invited by the Draconic Vigil to the sanctuary where a dragon will be put under your care. Together you will be trained by the Vigil to coexist and even fight together, and the whole of Dracona Valley will be your training ground. Eventually, you may travel to the rest of Lyte as you wish, helping, or siding with whomever you choose. The world is a big place, and you'll find there is many adventures for those who seem them.

Also, you may not want to play as a guardian, and that's perfectly fine! I leave it up to your creativity to make up your own characters. Maybe you want to play as a different role within the Vigil? Maybe you want to side with the dragon hunters? Maybe you want to be a small-time fisherman in the settlement of Jebec who works his way up to greatness?

Have an idea for a character but you don't think it fits in with the story? Talk to me and we can try to make it work!

((Must read if you are a Guardian))

Time, it seemed, had stood still in an eerie moment in your life when you realized everything was about to changed. It became real when you first saw Quaking Terra for the first time growing in the distant; the ferry boat you chartered from Thatcher's Burrow seemed to be in a direct intercept, with little delay. It wasn't the sight of the island that made you grip onto the railing harder, it was the sound. As you closed your eyes, over the rhythm of the crashing waves, you heard it for the first time: a distant roar. You eyes flashed open with a new sharpness, as you heard the call of a dragon.

You eyed the island with guarded excitement, wondering what lay ahead. The ferry crossed over the crest of one of the tinier peninsulas, and that's when you caught sight of Port Glory. It was small in comparison to the bigger city ports, but it still caught your eye; it was immaculate. Colored marble decorated the berth of every dock. It seemed to be themed to each species of dragon. However, you passed all of them, and your boat continued on to a more ambiguous, or indeed general, destination. White marble decorated the dock with a white dragon staring down at you. The ship itself passed under the dragon before coming to rest upon the wooden dock.

As you gathered up the few things you brought along, another roar in the distance sent a tingle down your spine. It was fearsome incarnate, but it gave a warm glow in your chest as you reminded yourself that you were on their side, and you could only hope the reverse was true.

As you waved your thanks to the ferryman, you departed from the dock, and began your journey across the island. For an hour you trekked along a clearly-marked path of dirt and sometimes stone, across hills, forestland, and plains.

The day began to ware on, but still you pushed forward.

Image

Until you came to a large path...

Image

Excited, your pace quickened until you were at the end of the path, where it stopped suddenly. Before you in the distance atop a hill was a large pagoda-like structure. You walked up the long staircase where you still couldn't detect any life. Warily, you looked around before you knocked on the door. It opened immediately.

A large man in a purple robe answered the door with a pleasant smile. "Hello, we've been waiting for you. Glad you could make it." As he ushered you inside while confusion welled up, he continued. "Hope the journey went well," he added. He sounded like a friend making small talk. As you opened your mouth to speak, he raised his hand to silence you.

"We have so much to do, my friend. All you questions will be answered below."

Now you were more confused than ever, but just then the man triggered a switch, and the floor itself began to move. You hopped back against the wall, startled, as the floor shifted around the middle to form a staircase going down into the earth. The clink of solid rock scrapping against one another reverberated throughout the entire room. Finally, it all came to a deathly silent. The man turned to you with a glint in his eye.

"Let's not keep them waiting!"

Once again, confusion. But you obliged and followed the man down the steps. The light grew dimmer and dimmer until you struggled to see; it would take a moment to adjust to the torchlight after you had the sun in your eyes for the better part of the day. Finally, after descending for a minute or two, your mouth dropped open in awe as you entered the central hall of the Draconic Vigil's sanctuary.

It was absolutely massive, with what looked like a massive circular disk on the other end. It's face seemed to be an ethereal black and red fog that moved in a clockwise motion around the disk. Large columns decorated with red cloth and gold strewn upwards to the impossibly high ceiling. Great halls spiraled out in every direction, large enough to accommodate dragons of every size, except perhaps black dragons. The crackling fires burned in great iron braziers, giving a bright light that made shadows dance across the walls beyond them. As you neared the end of the red rug you were standing on, you met another person draped in purple robes, though her's were gilded in gold.

"Welcome, weary traveler, to the Sanctuary of the Draconic Vigil," she began warmly. "I know you are tired, and you have many questions, but trust me when I say all will be answered in due time. The only one you need to worry about is this: why are you here? I'm sure you have your suspicions. You know, after all, our intentions for you: to help us in our effort here to restore the Great Race that had once fallen. But this isn't what I meant by the question. Why are you here, specifically. Not to diminish what reputation you have, but why you over the countless others? What makes us choose a noble one year and a peasant the other? The answer is simple: we don't."

The women approached you and looked at you with old, yet sparkling eyes, like a mother staring up at her child all grown up. "My name is Drea, I am Overseer here, and you have no idea how happy I am to see you."

She then took a step back to her original spot, and gestured behind her at the glowing portal stone. "Take a look, traveler, at the dozen door. Before you lays the greatest secret of our age: the reason we exist, the reason we have survived, and perhaps most importantly, the reason you are here. You don't have to know the specifics of the Dozen Door, only that its name is a misnomer. Why? It's not a doorway, it's a vault. It can only be opened a specific way, but once inside all will be revealed. Now come, and don't stray too far."

She quickly led up the steps as the entire face of the door swirled with blackness, blending in with the other colors swirling around until it was nothing but black. It was only then that she stepped through it. Cautiously, you followed. You expected to hit a stone wall as you passed through the Dozen Door, but you kept going right through it. Everywhere around you was black, which made you feel uneasy, like you were in a different plane of existence. For all you know, you could be.

Finally, a rumbling made you stop dead in your tracks. It feels like an earthquake as your heart began to pound. Trepidation made you alert and you began looking around for the source, but none can be found. Drea can no longer be seen, and neither the entrance of the Dozen Door. All around you was blackness, with the pounding getting nearer and nearer. Fear froze you in place, waiting for whatever is about to happen, to happen.

Suddenly, torchlight filled the massive space. Your jaw dropped open and you fall backwards as towering above you, as massive as the entire room you were previously in, was an enormous black dragon. And it was staring right down at you.

After a few moments, the unbelievable: it started to speak.

"Greeting..." came a slow, ancient voice that echoed from everywhere. The jaws of the creature didn't even move, so it was hard to figure out where the voice was coming from. "I am Evicerin, the Original." Every word rumbled awkwardly slow, every letter pronounced. "It was I, centuries ago, who met with the ancestors of those in the Vigil upon the fall of my race. It was I who solely guarded the last of our eggs until the humans with compassion came. I was gravely wounded, and it was they who led me here. I brought you here, traveler, because I have seen our destinies entwined."

It was hard to focus on what the dragon was saying as your eyes were fixated on its teeth, which were several times the size of you. Still, you tried your best to pay attention.

"You have come to be a Guardian, so they my race and yours may prosper in the lands. This is a noble endeavor, but you'll find that the task is great. As your competence, courage, and strength grow, so does that of your enemies. Together we will ensure the rebirth of the dragons, and it all begins with a choice. So..." The voice said.

It's long neck craned down until one of it's eyes were looking right into yours.

"What do you choose?"

((This is when your character chooses what dragon he or she wanted. You are given a dragon egg by Evicerin, who is the keeper of the eggs and the most elder dragon. Although Drea is the leader of the order, he and she work together as partners. Your character spends the first night in one of the private chambers and on the next day, you are brought to a small village that seems to be just for Guardians. You are provided with your own house with access to a dragon's den later when your dragon becomes too large to fit in your home. The town itself is quite rustic, but has all the makings of a fine, self-sustaining village, and all Guardians are expected to help out. Not everyone on the island are Guardians however, as you'll find several small villages to help accomplish varying tasks.

A few days have passed since then, and you have settled into your house. Your dragon egg had just hatched last night, and you have now a baby dragon: a hatchling. You'll be spending a majority of your time here on the island until your dragon is a little bigger. You'll meet other Guaridans, be trained to care for them, and may even go on an adventure or two! It's really up to you what you want to do from this point.))

Penka sat on the bunk in the bedroom of the house that had been provided for her. The small red dragon stared her down from across the room. She stared right back.

Legends had led her to believe that the dragon would be much bigger. Towering behemoths that wipe out a house with a sweep of their tail and all that. This one was no bigger than a stunted pony. Though, she supposed, he had just hatched. Rome wasn't built in a day and dragons didn't grow overnight. It wasn't just the creature's size that surprised her either, his overall appearance was far from what she'd expected. The brilliant red body and golden underbelly matched the descriptions she had heard from the story tellers, but that was here the similarities ended. In the creature, she saw none of the immovable muscle that one usually associated with red dragons, rather a lanky sleekness. He did not possess horns - yet - though Penka thought she could detect a few bumps which could eventually form into the legendary head-spikes. However, she couldn't be sure, he hadn't let her get close enough to check them out thoroughly. His feet and claws did not look as if they were built to crush and slash, instead she noted finely jointed digits that belied an astounding degree of dexterity. Out of his entire appearance however, his wings were what confused her most. The only time she had gotten a good look at them was the one time he had stretched them right after coming out of his egg, since then the dragon hatch-ling had kept them held tight to his body.

Still staring, evaluating her strange new charge, Penka was surprised when a large puff of hot air hit her full on in the face and brought her attention back to the task at hand. She glared down at the he-dragon, and he glared right back.

"Nidhug." She suggested, the dragon blinked.

"Vasuki." He shook his head.

"Apalala." The creature actually gave a disdainful snort at that one. Penka winced.

"You're right, that one was weak... What about-" She searched her mind for another name, "... Vasuman." At this, the dragon seemed to perk up, his ear flaps flexing attentively. She smiled at his reaction. "Vasuman it is then."

Penka and Vasuman had not had an instant bond. In fact, despite the days they had spent in each other's company the hatch-ling would not let her get within arm's reach. However, at the same time, he refused to be in a room separate from her for any more than a few minutes, which confused Penka to no end. They had, over the last few days, managed to come up with some kind of rough communication system - a development which caught Penka completely off guard. Red dragons were thought to be the most intelligent, but Vasuman seemed to understand her after just a few days out of the egg. Not only that, but when he decided to acknowledge her, he could communicate in his own way through facial expressions, shakes of the head, a few limited hand movements. It made things much easier to say the least.

The sun was already rising and Esramir had not slept since the previous day. Eyes wide open, mind fully occupied, and heart proudly pounding, Esramir watched every move, every sound, and every expression the hatchling made, and took note of everything his hand was capable of. A beautiful light-blue creature the size of a big hand's palm, with tiny, little wings, and no teeth or claws. A wall that was blank the past day was now completely hidden behind written sheets of paper, full of notes and drawings, all about the dragon. He was not only amazed by the creature itself, but also of how accurate his ideas were. As he noticed the sun through the room’s window, Esramir's stomach growled, and this reminded him not of his own breakfast, but that of his dragon. Eager to discover what the dragon was willing to eat, he prepared all basic sorts of food, red meats, fish, vegetables, and fruits, and put them all near the dragon, for it to eat. Watching carefully, he guessed in his mind what the dragon could choose, and he guessed right: Everything. It amazed him not, as it was only logical for a just-born creature which could possibly grow so much to eat heavily, and he prepared more food and water for it. Only when the dragon lost its will to eat did Esramir prepare something for himself. As he also had anticipated, a creature that could grow so much would not only eat a lot, but also efficiently absorb the nutrients needed from all the food, which would, put simply, end in a nap. Knowing it would be best to fortify the bond and start the synergy between the two, Esramir decided to sleep at the same time the dragon would, and so he laid down in bed with the hatchling between his arms and a smile on his face.

Hours later that same day, Esramir woke up to his dragon playfully biting his ear, which he found to be another reason to smile. It hadn't been more than a day, but he was already feeling attached to this small creature, which was now dependent on him, as if it was his own child. The bare thought of this made him happy, as he had lived a rather solitary life until now, and had rarely felt all the emotions that the dragon woke inside him. He decided it would be best to explore the forests, as he used to do back home, to get into routine and avoid feeling homesick. He prepared some food and gently lifted the dragon to his shoulders, unsure of how it would feel about it, but as he noticed the dragon seemed relaxed, he opened the door and walked to the forest. It was still sunny, only a few hours past the afternoon, and even though it was neither too hot nor too cold, the more humid weather felt different from what Esramir used to consider his home. Nonetheless, he felt happy and excited to start a new life, and it was already going pretty well. Esramir and his dragon were now walking through the forest together, and only then did he notice that he hadn't given it a name. It didn’t take much time for him to come up with one. The dragon was now named Tuoscat. There was no reason for it other than how it sounded, and that was enough of a reason. It was fun for Esramir to watch and take note of how his dragon, now named Tuoscat, tried to hunt small animals it found throughout the forest, failing each time and returning to him empty-handed, but trying again with each opportunity. Esramir admired how persistent the dragon was and how it did not give up over small failures. Sun falling behind the horizon, Esramir lifted Tuoscat back onto his shoulder and they both went back home. As he closed the door he realized he hadn't met any of the other guardians yet, nor had he gone to any of the other small villages to meet people. ‘’Well, I guess that will have to wait…’’ He thought to himself. ‘’After all, I've always done well on my own, kind of, and Tuoscat is already an excellent companion.’’ Though this was true to him, he was still eager inside to meet the other guardians and to study their dragons, and again he laid on his bed with a smile on his face and his dragon besides him.

As Destany awoke the first thing she noticed was Ivan. He was sitting in the blanket she had set near her bed. He had not wanted to be near her when he first hatched, but she laid out some meat for him to eat before going to bed. She had laid and watched him gobble down the meat. He was astonishing. He was so tiny, she could probably hold him like a baby. The moment she saw his little mouth, his face, his shell falling off, she had fallen in love with him. This adorable, beautiful, tiny, dragon was hers. And she would protect it with all her heart. There is no way she would let anyone hurt him. By this time Ivan was at the foot of her bed. He made a small noise.

Destany quickly got out of bed and went to the kitchen, Ivan folowing her every step. He made another noise, somewhere between a whine and a growl. It was adorable. He was probably hungry. She pulled out a hunk of raw meat. Ivan jumped to try and get it and landed on his butt. At least it wasn't a wing. She thought. Cutting the meat to small bites so he wouldn't choke she turned.

"No begging Ivan. I'm almost done, we don't want to choke do we?" She said sternly. He gave an expression that reminded her of pouting. "Aw, now don't do that. I'm done, see." Destany holds up a piece of the meat. Ivan immediately perked up. She laid it in front of him before getting another. This continued for a while. She had read that green dragons were the smallest, but she didn't care. He definitely wouldn't be the weakest. No. He wouldn't. "Come on, lets go meet other guardians and dragons." Ivan jumps up and wobbles at a run to her feet. Unable to resist, Destany picks him up and carries him in her arms. "Hmm, I wonder where I can find another guardian in the middle of the day. Perhaps a park?" She asks, and Ivan makes a small sound. Adorable!

Silence seemed to stop time as Kesia stirred restlessly in her sleep, beads of sweat forming with each passing moment. With a faso escaping her lips as she found herself jolting awake, tears dripping down her face. ~What was that?~ she thought as she wiped away the tears from her face..her nightmare seemed to be so vivid, yet bizarre in its content. In the vision she was surrounded by blissful darkness in a tree of some sort, the gentle breeze stirring her awake. A murder of crows suddenly bursted in front her with fear-calls echoing throughout the air. Alarmed by this sudden movement, she found herself crashing to the forest floor below, only to find the once calm forest reddened with crimson flames, smoke clouded her vision before revealing a grotesquely large creature with a human-shaped figure on its back, then flames darted toward her.

A sudden burst of pain flooded her head as she felt several minds of her Murder vanish into nothing. A large claw caught her hair and began stroking it in an effort to calm the pain, Omen was the one consistency in her life that she clutched like a lifeline. As the pain subsided, she gently stroked the inky feathers of the crow while trying to understand the potential link between the dream and her vanished Murder. Gently easing the bird up onto her shoulder, she placed her feet on the packed dirt floor with hopes that fresh air would help clear her head of these troubled thoughts. Gentle sunlight caressed her face as it flooded through the ancient willow trees, a small yelp escaped her lips as she placed her feet in the cold stream as the first step to a proper bath began ~A rumored witch I may be, but that does not mean I wish to live in filth~ she thought as she eased herself into the cold water. Naked as the day she was born aside from the Crow-Speak necklace a constant comfort around her throat, she found herself eased into a blissful state of relaxation. Perhaps the nightmare was nothing more than that, the missing members of her Murder were merely out of range for the magic.

Minutes seemed to pass within seconds as she bathed, her blonde hair fanning out around her. The peaceful atmosphere was broken, as a definitely male human voice let out a cry of pain, before the owner of the voice stumbled through the bullrushes dressed in travelers wear, and was being throughly harassed by Omen and several of his flock mates, despite their smaller size they were doing a number on the traveller's face. Her eyes were as wide as saucers as she quickly submerged herself deeper into the water hiding her body aside from her neck, "Please call them off!" the man scowled batting away at the territorial birds, only to gain himself a deep gouge from Omen's claw. Struggling to find her voice she asked in a soft tone "what is it you want? It's not exactly the best time...", gesturing with her hand for Omen to leave the man alone. His fellow Murderers merely retreated to a nearby tree, coal eyes gazing with distrust at the stranger. Her voice was hoarse like one would hear after just waking up. The man merely swore under his breath as he managed to clear the blood from his face before turning crimson with embarrassment at the sight of the 'Witch' before him, stuttering out an apology as well as an question "Have you heard the news..rumors have been spreading like fire that dragons are back..".

Those words chilled her body to the core as her mind quickly recalled her dream..dragons..fire..back? With surprising agility she quickly grasped the front of the stranger by his shirt before asking with urgency "Where and who did these words come from?". The man's eyes went wide as this naked woman pressed herself..well grabbed him. He was merely a humble local farmer who was paid by some stranger at a tavern to seek out this Witch and pass along the news, not to mention the nice bit of gold now lining his pockets. Finally finding his tongue he mumbled out "Some stranger I met a few nights ago said he saw smoke coming from Port Glory when he was fishing out in his boat. Mentioned something fires too.". Releasing her grasp on the man's shirt, she wordlessly returned to her humble hutch before returning dressed in a dark wool cloak and a pale grey dress.

She was dressed for a journey as a small pack rested on her face, along with a belt with several smaller pouches no doubt containing plants of for devious or helpful nature. A bizarre weapon was at her hip as well, it seemed to be once a dagger that had been split into three prongs of deadly iron, like that of crow's foot. Giving the messenger a single stare of goodbye that seemed to translate to "Do not steal anything or I will find out one or the other". To prove her point she gestured to several crows loitering around the entrance to her hutch, blinking stupidly at the man. The messenger mutely nodded and watched the 'Witch' vanish into the forest, Omen resting on her shoulder. Her destination in mind the far-away village of Thatcher's Burrow, she had to discover the truth behind these supposed dragons..and their riders..

"Well," Penka said, addressing no one in particular as she rose to her feet, "It's that time again." Vasuman stood as well, having gotten used to this routine over the few days since he had emerged from his egg.

"Do you mind if we stop at the letter depot first today? We'll have to grab your lunch from the butcher's on the way back anyway." The dragon gave her one of his flat stares. "If we do it the other way round, the cut won't be as fresh." She cajoled him.

The barely week-old dragon gave a superior nod, as if he was the one making the ultimate decision. Then again, all things considered, he really was. The last time Penka had tried to change up the time he got his meal without running it past him, well.... she had mad it up to the shop owner. It had only taken a couple of hours to cut enough thatch to replace his roof. Despite that, she wasn't exactly welcome in the cobbler's shop anymore - it was a good thing her shoes were all in pretty good shape now.

Pulling on her boots and tossing a few extra tools into a knapsack, she got up and began walking down the street. Vasuman trotted slightly behind her as she made her way through the small village and to the building that served as the depository for any incoming messages.

"Good day Ms. Millner, back again so soon?" The young lady behind the counter asked. Penka had become a regular face in the building, more so than some others.

Penka gave a friendly smile. "Yes Elizabeth, anything new today?" With a nod, the girl brought over a small handful of letters and handed them over. The guardian riffled through the papers; one from her sister, one from a guild contact, another from her parents, and a couple from Ratnam. A broad smile split her face at the number of envelopes addressed in his hand and she decided to save those for last. Sitting down on one of the benches within the mail room, Penka began reading through each of her messages. Vasuman, for his part, crawled beneath the bench, intent on catching a bit of rest and knowing that his guardian would not be moving for a while.

Destany stretched, waking before Dawn again. That was the best time to explore. Ivan enjoyed the cold walks and the stars sparkling in the sky. They had yet to meet another guardian, but she knew they would in do time. Ivan had been trying new ways to be with her on these explorations, he now likes to sit on top of her head. Destany gets up and walks to the kitchen to get a breakfast for the two of them. She has fruit and an omelet, and Ivan munches on little pieces of meat.

"Come on Ivan, we're going to the forest today! I'm sure there's a river there, maybe we can fish." She says excitedly, getting dressed and heading for the door, Ivan following excitedly. "We might even me another guardian this time!" She leads them happily, with a bounce in her step. It took them some time to reach the forest, and hours passed while they explored. A growl from her stomach reminded her that it was noon now and it'd been such a long time since breakfast. Ivan was lounging comfortably on a rock that the sun was shining on. He was falling asleep and she decided that they could wait a little longer. Feeling tired herself she lye'd down near him, but not on the scorching rock. It wasn't long before she fell asleep too.

Esramir had just woken up and it hadn't been much time since dawn. He looked around, trying to found Tuoscat, and found him sitting next to the door. Esramir looked through the window and noticed the sky glowing orange. ''Weird'' he thought ''He is always sleeping when I wake up but today he already wants to go outside''. Despite having to break the routine, he dressed, packed some snacks up, lifted Tuoscat onto his shoulder, and walked to the forest.

It was afternoon when Tuoscat suddenly jumped down from Esramir's shoulder and dashed towards a rock not too far away. Esramir thought it was just trying to hunt something down, like it always tried, but to his surprise, it wasn't a prey that Tuoscat had noticed, but a small, green dragon sleeping on a rock, and a woman sleeping besides it. Surprised, Esramir opened his eyes wide at the sight of another guardian, he never thought he would encounter one at the forest, less even in that situation. While he was concentrated in his thoughts, Tuoscat's curiosity had started to act and it started make noises and poke the dragon and her guardian. ''Tuoscat, you're gonna wake them up!'' he cautiously said as he snapped back.

Consciousnesses came reluctantly. The little growl that she recognized as Ivan's brought her fully awake. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw him. Wings open, stubby arm/legs up, a growl escaping from his mouth. Ivan had always been protecting, he was a green dragon after all. Loyalty wasn't his only strength, but though he was bigger than when he hatched, he was noticeably smaller than the blue dragon. Other dragon? Realization flowed through her mind as she realized what was happening. She was napping and another guardian found her.
"Ivan stop! They're no harm. It's obviously another guardian." She said, sitting up. Destany was taken aback by the stranger, his clothes, his look, she had only met people from her own kingdom, but knew there was something different. His eyes gave off a subtle look of kindness. She smiled kindly, he looked like he would make a good friend. "Hello, did we startle you? Sorry." She says, standing up and brushing off the dirt. Ivan seemed to relax a little, and even moved cautiously around the blue dragon. "My name is Destany, whats yours?"

Tuoscat climbed back to Esramir's shoulder, who took his eyes off the dragons to look at the lady in front of him. ''Oh, no, not at all. I'm sorry, we didn't mean to wake you up.'' He said, and took a quick glance at his dragon ''Tuoscat here got a little excited to see another dragon, we haven't met any other guardian yet. My name is Esramir, pleasure to meet you.'' He found the situation strange, as he wouldn't have expected someone like Destany to be sleeping in the forest. ''Definetely not Yusinostra... Nuemria? No, most probably Hutchest, likely its capital, and judging by her clothes, she must come from a wealthy family...'' he thought, and kneeled to look at her dragon. It was small, but very protective, like he remembered from the stories. He felt the excitement he did when Tuoscat hatched, and was already analyzing it and making mental notes. ''Ivan, is he called? He is a really cute dragon!'' he said smiling. ''How long have you been here? Have you met any other guardians?''

Destany smiled kindly at Esramir. Ivan relaxing noticably when he complimented him. She stretched. "Not long, a few weeks. I haven't met any others." She watched Ivan wander around Esramir, before chasing a butterfly. He was cute wasn't he, adorable! "Thanks! Did you say yours was Tuoscat? He's super cute too! I was really surprised when I got notified of being a guardian. It just always seemed like something a normal person could never reach. I knew they would be adorable, but I never knew that I would have one of my own. What about you?"

''Few weeks and she hasn't met any other guardians yet? We must be the first ones. Huh, other men would consider themselves very lucky...'' Esramir thought. ''Well'' he said as he standed up ''Becoming a guardian was my biggest dream. Since I was a kid I've been reading stories about dragons and they always fascinated me. When I found out that they were presumed extinct I felt really sad, but I still had hope. I started to study the stories, to imagine how everything was with dragons.'' he smiled as he remembered the happiest moment of his life ''When I was told I had been chosen to become a guardian, I was just mesmerized. It was the happiest moment I've lived yet. I wasn't expecting it, but it wasn't really that big of a surprise, actually. I could see why they chose me. I had studied so much about the dragons, I knew so much about them, and now it's all like I was expecting. It's a dream come true.'' a small growl could be heard coming from Tuoscat. Esramir looked at the dragon and understood the reason. ''Is he hungry already? I already gave him all the snacks... Oh, well...'' Esramir thought, before looking back at Destany. ''He is getting hungry, so I guess we'll go back home. It's been a pleasure!'' he said as he turned around to start walking, satisfied to have had the opportunity to meet another guardian and their dragon.

Destany listened intently at his story, remembering her own fascination with dragons. Now that she thinks about it she had more or less given up. Putting her love of the stories into her clothes, what bullshit. She always wanted to see a dragon, she had just. . . given up. "I had listened to all the stories, and studied the pictures too. But I had given up, became a tailor. It was nice meeting you." She smiled and picked up Ivan. "I have to get Ivan food too. Thanks for waking me up, we could have slept there for a while." She walked past and decided on eating in the park.

Good to know, thank you. Just wanted to be sure.

Correct on all fronts my friend.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Just to make sure...we can't be a dragon, can we? and the dragon's are always just dragon's right? They don't have the power to change size or take a human form. correct?

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

I did a combo of your ideas, so she will be aggressive towards dragons unless persuaded otherwise =p. Sorry for the super long intro, wanted to start off with a bang.

If I may make a suggestion (which you are fully in your right to ignore), how about something along the lines of a vision that tells you to move south towards Quaking Terra. Maybe your character reads an omen in the birds or maybe she's hired to spy.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Hmmm not sure how I should start off..

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Finally finished up my character. I will edit if need be.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Alright, first post went up a little earlier than expected! Sorry that it's a long read, but it has a bunch of vital information! My posts after this will not be anywhere that long; I usually like to post somewhere in the 100-400 range. It's all about what you're comfortable with people.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Okay, I submitted a character and it is all finished. If there is anything that needs to be/should be changed, feel free to tell me.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

No you don't have to change anything :P My character has a Green dragon, and I know of another person who has a red dragon. It's perfectly fine if more people want blue dragons. They can also make another Guardian character if they want a different color!

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Alright I went ahead an accepted a few of the applications I saw. I didn't put up the ones that weren't finished though.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Sounds like that could be interesting! And just reminding you that you can make more than one character. So if you wanted to make a Guardian character too, you could.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

Alright, so after reading this, I was debating on making a guardian character...but then I decided that I'd like to add some conflict in the story.

So I was thinking that perhaps I could make a character, hired by the Dragon Hunters, who goes after the Guardians to either get rid of the eggs somehow, (stealing, bribing, etc.) or if that's not successful, end up just trying to rid of the Guardians themselves. They'd be a sort of....hired thief/assassin I suppose, though they don't exactly side with the Dragon Hunters, they're mostly doing it because of the payment, and I suppose they could have their mind changed (if anyone can convince him/her).

Of course, this is just a rough idea, and if it doesn't work with the story, I'll think of something else, haha.

One thing I noticed that I also forgot to explain, so it's my bad!

It is unknown how the Draconic Vigil select their candidates. They seem to have knowledge of the most random people, but they all fit the part in some way. People think they have some way of divining who would be the best for them. So when you said "the higher ups in the Draconic Vigil saw how useful he is", you're talking about something your character can't possibly known. No one knows why they were chosen until they arrive. Does that make sense?

Also, just a aesthetic change I would make... I would change the answers in the red section to black (just type outside the code). Makes the answers pop a bit more. Also down in the blue section, "Personality" is colored.

Cannot wait to start ^ ^. Will have my character done by tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Trails of the Triumvirate

I like that system. Though I think for this it will be:

Hatchling --> Whelp --> Juvenille --> Young-adult --> Adult --> Elder

The size of the whelp, as with all stages, differ between species, though it's more noticeable at later ages. For a blue dragon, a whelp is comparable to the size of a large dog (no including wingspan).
