Destany's Story

As Destany awoke the first thing she noticed was Ivan. He was sitting in the blanket she had set near her bed. He had not wanted to be near her when he first hatched, but she laid out some meat for him to eat before going to bed. She had laid and watched him gobble down the meat. He was astonishing. He was so tiny, she could probably hold him like a baby. The moment she saw his little mouth, his face, his shell falling off, she had fallen in love with him. This adorable, beautiful, tiny, dragon was hers. And she would protect it with all her heart. There is no way she would let anyone hurt him. By this time Ivan was at the foot of her bed. He made a small noise.

Destany quickly got out of bed and went to the kitchen, Ivan folowing her every step. He made another noise, somewhere between a whine and a growl. It was adorable. He was probably hungry. She pulled out a hunk of raw meat. Ivan jumped to try and get it and landed on his butt. At least it wasn't a wing. She thought. Cutting the meat to small bites so he wouldn't choke she turned.

"No begging Ivan. I'm almost done, we don't want to choke do we?" She said sternly. He gave an expression that reminded her of pouting. "Aw, now don't do that. I'm done, see." Destany holds up a piece of the meat. Ivan immediately perked up. She laid it in front of him before getting another. This continued for a while. She had read that green dragons were the smallest, but she didn't care. He definitely wouldn't be the weakest. No. He wouldn't. "Come on, lets go meet other guardians and dragons." Ivan jumps up and wobbles at a run to her feet. Unable to resist, Destany picks him up and carries him in her arms. "Hmm, I wonder where I can find another guardian in the middle of the day. Perhaps a park?" She asks, and Ivan makes a small sound. Adorable!

Destany stretched, waking before Dawn again. That was the best time to explore. Ivan enjoyed the cold walks and the stars sparkling in the sky. They had yet to meet another guardian, but she knew they would in do time. Ivan had been trying new ways to be with her on these explorations, he now likes to sit on top of her head. Destany gets up and walks to the kitchen to get a breakfast for the two of them. She has fruit and an omelet, and Ivan munches on little pieces of meat.

"Come on Ivan, we're going to the forest today! I'm sure there's a river there, maybe we can fish." She says excitedly, getting dressed and heading for the door, Ivan following excitedly. "We might even me another guardian this time!" She leads them happily, with a bounce in her step. It took them some time to reach the forest, and hours passed while they explored. A growl from her stomach reminded her that it was noon now and it'd been such a long time since breakfast. Ivan was lounging comfortably on a rock that the sun was shining on. He was falling asleep and she decided that they could wait a little longer. Feeling tired herself she lye'd down near him, but not on the scorching rock. It wasn't long before she fell asleep too.

Esramir had just woken up and it hadn't been much time since dawn. He looked around, trying to found Tuoscat, and found him sitting next to the door. Esramir looked through the window and noticed the sky glowing orange. ''Weird'' he thought ''He is always sleeping when I wake up but today he already wants to go outside''. Despite having to break the routine, he dressed, packed some snacks up, lifted Tuoscat onto his shoulder, and walked to the forest.

It was afternoon when Tuoscat suddenly jumped down from Esramir's shoulder and dashed towards a rock not too far away. Esramir thought it was just trying to hunt something down, like it always tried, but to his surprise, it wasn't a prey that Tuoscat had noticed, but a small, green dragon sleeping on a rock, and a woman sleeping besides it. Surprised, Esramir opened his eyes wide at the sight of another guardian, he never thought he would encounter one at the forest, less even in that situation. While he was concentrated in his thoughts, Tuoscat's curiosity had started to act and it started make noises and poke the dragon and her guardian. ''Tuoscat, you're gonna wake them up!'' he cautiously said as he snapped back.

Consciousnesses came reluctantly. The little growl that she recognized as Ivan's brought her fully awake. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw him. Wings open, stubby arm/legs up, a growl escaping from his mouth. Ivan had always been protecting, he was a green dragon after all. Loyalty wasn't his only strength, but though he was bigger than when he hatched, he was noticeably smaller than the blue dragon. Other dragon? Realization flowed through her mind as she realized what was happening. She was napping and another guardian found her.
"Ivan stop! They're no harm. It's obviously another guardian." She said, sitting up. Destany was taken aback by the stranger, his clothes, his look, she had only met people from her own kingdom, but knew there was something different. His eyes gave off a subtle look of kindness. She smiled kindly, he looked like he would make a good friend. "Hello, did we startle you? Sorry." She says, standing up and brushing off the dirt. Ivan seemed to relax a little, and even moved cautiously around the blue dragon. "My name is Destany, whats yours?"

Tuoscat climbed back to Esramir's shoulder, who took his eyes off the dragons to look at the lady in front of him. ''Oh, no, not at all. I'm sorry, we didn't mean to wake you up.'' He said, and took a quick glance at his dragon ''Tuoscat here got a little excited to see another dragon, we haven't met any other guardian yet. My name is Esramir, pleasure to meet you.'' He found the situation strange, as he wouldn't have expected someone like Destany to be sleeping in the forest. ''Definetely not Yusinostra... Nuemria? No, most probably Hutchest, likely its capital, and judging by her clothes, she must come from a wealthy family...'' he thought, and kneeled to look at her dragon. It was small, but very protective, like he remembered from the stories. He felt the excitement he did when Tuoscat hatched, and was already analyzing it and making mental notes. ''Ivan, is he called? He is a really cute dragon!'' he said smiling. ''How long have you been here? Have you met any other guardians?''

Destany smiled kindly at Esramir. Ivan relaxing noticably when he complimented him. She stretched. "Not long, a few weeks. I haven't met any others." She watched Ivan wander around Esramir, before chasing a butterfly. He was cute wasn't he, adorable! "Thanks! Did you say yours was Tuoscat? He's super cute too! I was really surprised when I got notified of being a guardian. It just always seemed like something a normal person could never reach. I knew they would be adorable, but I never knew that I would have one of my own. What about you?"

''Few weeks and she hasn't met any other guardians yet? We must be the first ones. Huh, other men would consider themselves very lucky...'' Esramir thought. ''Well'' he said as he standed up ''Becoming a guardian was my biggest dream. Since I was a kid I've been reading stories about dragons and they always fascinated me. When I found out that they were presumed extinct I felt really sad, but I still had hope. I started to study the stories, to imagine how everything was with dragons.'' he smiled as he remembered the happiest moment of his life ''When I was told I had been chosen to become a guardian, I was just mesmerized. It was the happiest moment I've lived yet. I wasn't expecting it, but it wasn't really that big of a surprise, actually. I could see why they chose me. I had studied so much about the dragons, I knew so much about them, and now it's all like I was expecting. It's a dream come true.'' a small growl could be heard coming from Tuoscat. Esramir looked at the dragon and understood the reason. ''Is he hungry already? I already gave him all the snacks... Oh, well...'' Esramir thought, before looking back at Destany. ''He is getting hungry, so I guess we'll go back home. It's been a pleasure!'' he said as he turned around to start walking, satisfied to have had the opportunity to meet another guardian and their dragon.

Destany listened intently at his story, remembering her own fascination with dragons. Now that she thinks about it she had more or less given up. Putting her love of the stories into her clothes, what bullshit. She always wanted to see a dragon, she had just. . . given up. "I had listened to all the stories, and studied the pictures too. But I had given up, became a tailor. It was nice meeting you." She smiled and picked up Ivan. "I have to get Ivan food too. Thanks for waking me up, we could have slept there for a while." She walked past and decided on eating in the park.
