The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 2 authors
After what must have been a few miles, she turned around a tree and listened. Hearing nothing, she turned to Strider, "I think we lost them. But they won't give up the search. We should only rest for a moment before moving again."
Setting
0.00 INK
Donovan started looking around at the inside of the building. There was a tiny kitchen area with a few cabinets that might have held food. A old bed was in one corner with a moth eaten blanket on it. A door led to no doubt a bathroom, but it probably didn't work anymore. "Well, for starters if we don't eat soon we won't be able to do anything else. Water would be good to." Donovan opened the cabinets in search of food. With a grin he pulled out two plastic bags full of dried meat and handed one to Emily. "Dried stuff like this almost never goes bad so it should be safe it eat." To make sure he opened his back and sniffed it. He almost started drooling when he smelled it. "Oh yeah, its fine."
Emily walked around, keeping half of her attention on keeping the wall up and the other half on keeping aware of the surroundings. It seemed as though she was always on her guard now, never resting and always working to keep them safe. It wasn't like she minded, after all if it benefited for their safety she would jump to do it. Turning back to Strider, she saw how tired he actually was and smiled softly. "Go to bed, Strider. I'll keep the shield up and keep watch until you're ready to move again," Knowing he would no doubt protest this, she held up a finger and shook her head, "No arguing, just take my offer willingly and sleep. You know the only reason you won't is because of you're pride so why don't you just skip that futile argument and sleep."
Donovan being a growing teenager, wanted to eat the entire bag of dried meat. But he knew that he needed to save part of it, just in case they couldn't find anything for a while. So he just ate half of it and saved the other half. Once he was done, he poked at the spots where the bullets had hit and found that they had completely healed by now. Though his body was still working on replacing the lost blood. "Go to bed, Strider. I'll keep the shield up and keep watch until you're ready to move again," Donovan opened his mouth to protest, but Emily held up a finger and shook her head. Looking very mom like. It made Donovan miss his family. "No arguing, just take my offer willingly and sleep. You know the only reason you won't is because of you're pride so why don't you just skip that futile argument and sleep."
Donovan shook his head, "It isn't pride. I'm just stubborn and don't like it when people tell me to do something. Even if that something benefits me." But this time Donovan listened. He walked over to the corner across from the bed and laid down, facing the corner. He didn't want to raise his temperature by laying in the bed. "This time, please actually wake me up in an hour. We don't want to stay in one place too long."
Emily startled herself to alertness a short hour later, realizing she had accidently dozed off. To her relief the shield had stayed standing since she hadn't been in deep sleep. Shaking herself awake, she walked over to Strider. "Hey, wake up. It's been an hour." She shook his shoulder gently and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, hoping her body would become alert and awake so they could get moving.
{OOC: totally fine}
{Sorry for the radio silence! I had my post all finished before the site went down.}
His head perked up when he heard the footsteps and he sighed. "We have to go. Now." He had just been about to say the same thing. As much as he wanted to just set them all on fire and be done with it, running was the best option at the moment. He went over to the door, opened it, and extended his arm. "After you milady. he said in a over exaggerated gentlemanly voice. Hey, who ever said you can't have a little fun while on the run from crazy scientists?
The man began screaming in terror and tried to put it out. The others joined him shortly after, their own lab coats on fire as well. Donovan, who was still grinning, motioned for Emily to start running. "Let's go, before they figure out that dirt stops fire."
She stopped running once they had been at it for a few miles, knowing it would take awhile for the scientists to catch up with all of their gear they had decided to drag along. "We need to find a town, or some form of civilization. I know there was a town like ten miles from the lab, but I think we ran in the opposite direction, and we can't go back now. Do you know of another one?"
Donovan disliked not knowing where they were, but he knew how to survive. So even if it took then a while to find a town, Donovan was confident that they would survive.
Emily sighed, not wishing to remember that horrible night. At least she knew when she got back--if she got back--that her sister would be there for her. She shook her head to clear it, then looked around. "Well, we better just keep walking. Maybe if we're lucky we'll find something. Here, drink some water." She handed the bottle to him and made sure he took at least a swig of it. They both needed the nourishment but since he had just finished healing she knew he needed it more.
