♝The Basics ♗
╚═══════╝
❀My name is: Summanus Malvolio Anderson
❀I’ve blown this many candles: 19
❀I am a: male
❀I’m actually a: Vampire
❀My Role is: Prince #2
╔═════════════════╗
♝ Getting to Know Me Better ♗
╚═════════════════╝
❀This is my life: As the eldest brother in the Anderson Family, Summanus held much responsibility growing up, although he regularly shirked his duties. He took care of what was important, and ignored the rest. When the family is making a decision, he normally stood back and allowed the others to speak, and only spoke himself when asked a question. when told he was required to marry, He frowned slightly and nodded solemnly. nothing about his behavior changed because -as such an antisocial person- he did not know what he was suppose to feel.
❀Sometimes I act like this: I am a quiet, Anti-social individual. I detest gatherings, and prefer solitude. I stick to the shadows, never allowing others to fully see me. I speak only when I absolutely have to, but would rather spend my time observing events rather than participating. Even my siblings know little about myself, and only see me occasionally. I am analytical, and take my time to slowly think everything through. Others think that I am quite dimwitted because I do not think as quickly, but the truth is quite the opposite. I am slow to anger –or any emotion for that matter- but when I am finally pushed to express how I feel, I have a hard time holding back. If nobody is around, I will sometimes play the piano.
╔═══════════╗

❀Other: Whereas Summanus is not a violent individual, he certainly knows how to use his abilities to his advantage in a fight. But he is weakest during the daytime, where there are little shadows. The darker the shadows, the greater his powers are.

ǂSummanus Malvolio Andersonǂ

He was late. Neither of his sisters would be pleased with him, not that he truly cared. The worst that would happen would be a few stern words from Celestine. They should be glad that he was showing up at all. He was not sure what all would happen when he married, however he hated being near anybody, including his siblings. Not that he hated them, he loved them as dearly as anyone else loves their own brothers and sisters. But he hated the physical feeling of being near people. He was also a very quiet person, only speaking to answer questions. these two things individually did not work well in situations such as holy matrimony, let alone combined. But it was unavoidable. He would do it, and at the very least, be respectful to his new extended family. Setting his thoughts aside, he quickly dressed himself. He wore the same suit he almost always wore. It was an odd suit. Instead of a normal coat, the top that went over his dark grey shirt was snug, and barely went past his waistline in the front. The back however had short wide tails. His bow tie was patterned black and white in pin stripes that were so small that it looked grey unless you were looking closely. The last item of interest he wore, was a stovepipe top hat. Most hats like this were silk stretched over leather so that is shined. This one, was a deep black velvet that did not catch any light. In fact, unlike most of his class, Summanus did not wear any jewelry. He wore nothing that could reflect any light at all. He hated to be noticed, and even a small glimmer was hard to miss when it came from the shadows.

When he was finally finished dressing himself, he took a breath and entered into the Darkness. This was strange in that his room was completely blackened to begin with. he had long since had the windows filled in with stone, and the door was heavy, and sealed so that not a single speck of light ever entered in without his permission. He had no trouble seeing in the dark, in fact, it was the Darkness that guided him. it gave him a picture as clear as day, and was never wrong. But now, when he entered into the Darkness, he was stepping through the immaterial door that connected all shadows. To Summanus, all shadows were one thing, just like a house. If said house's rooms were all connected by one door. Stepping through the door could lead to any place where enough darkness was present, the more light there was, the more difficult the passage. Normally, it would be very difficult traveling to a place he had never been, -just like trying to find a specific room in a strange house- But his sisters should already be at the castle, so he should be able to "Follow their voices" as it were. He paused in the space, standing completely still and waited to feel them. it only took a few seconds before he felt the direction, and immediately stepped out. He was fortunate this time, finding himself in a closet. If he did not know the place he was traveling to very well, he could end up in a rather undesirable location completely on accident. One time he found himself standing in a fireplace, and by the time he climbed out, was covered in soot. There were advantages to this however. For example, he would never transport into an open flame, or even in direct line of sight of one for that matter. too much light would keep him from arriving there. And he would also never arrive in an area too small for him to be in, or rather, he would never end up in a wall, unless there was a space in the wall large enough to accommodate him. the only walls like this had exits, so it was never a big deal to him, in fact, it only made his arrival less noticeable.

he peeked out of the closet to see a bedroom, there was some light, but not enough to truly bother him.He reached out with a tendril of Dark, and felt a person. It felt like Minzy, His first thought was to either transport again, or sneak out of the room, but he would feel bad later about not greeting her. He quietly stepped out, making slightly less noise than a panther stalking it's prey. He made his way at his normal, slow pace, and sat down gently next to her on the window seat. The direct sunlight gave him a slight headache, but he ignored it.

He quietly peeked out of the closet to

Minzy sat motionless, staring out of the window; cautiously watching the carriage pull up like a ghost. Anxiety and a bit of anger filled her now, not to mention the hunger that grew steadily as the time went by. She lifted her head up, breathing in her room’s scent and swallowed; licking her teeth over again as if she was cleaning them with her saliva.

It was then something caught her scent; something familiar- a boy? No, not a boy, nor a man; her brother. To confirm her assumptions, she felt a hand being lightly placed onto her before it pulled back; her golden eyes staring at her closet before her brother, a pale man whose hair was darker than a crow’s feathers came out from it. Minzy slightly tilted her head towards her right, examining her brother as he made his way towards her before sitting down quietly.

He was a man of shadows, her brother, Summanus; like their sister, Celestine, Summanus was also quiet anti-social. In fact, if Minzy thought about it, she was one of the few Andersons who liked socializing; well, in a beneficial way. Minzy returned her eyes towards the carriage, examining it for yet, another time.

“Are you nervous?” She finally breaks the silent with a rhetorical like question; almost as if she was expecting a yes from him. It wasn’t like she was trying to sound rude; just that she wasn’t in the brightest moods of her life, yet, nor was she in her worsts. Before he could even answer, she asked another question; one with a softer voice as if she was apologizing for her earlier action.

It was the same question Celestine had asked her before, one she’d more and likely ask everyone now. “What do you look for in your spouse?” It was obvious that Minzy herself was becoming a bit worked up; her emotions violently conflicting with themselves. Despite this, she still was able to keep her cool. She’d enjoy being with her siblings- even if it was the opposite for them. Right before she could think on, another carriage rolled in and already, she knew who it was.

“Oh, Summanus, our dearest brother is here.” She commented, pointing through the window as she watched the cherry colored carriage holt to a stop. Minzy always favored Lucifer; he was one of her favorite siblings- one whom she’d often tease of getting married. Perhaps she shouldn’t have teased so much and they wouldn’t be stuck in a situation like this? Minzy instantly shrugged the thought off; the thought of her causing any trouble was completely off to her.

Once more, her attention turned to her brother at her side. “Would you like me to close the curtains?” She asked, wondering if it’d be more comfortable for him.

Am I nervous? How on earth could I be nervous? I do not even know what that feels like. Although I am not sure how well thought out this plan was. He understood that a form of peace was necessary, however forcing two sets of four siblings to marry was one of, if not THE worst way to achieve such a goal. If anything, it would cause another war. But before he could voice his thoughts, she asked a different question.

"What do you look for in a spouse?"

Another question he could not answer. What should I look for? What am I suppose to look for? he supposed that it would be good if she did not need me to be around very often, or need to talk.... at all. However, I suppose that I could make personal exceptions if I were genuinely attracted. However it would be unbelievably unlikely for me to actually be attracted to anyone. physically or otherwise.

Interrupting his thoughts, Minzy exclaimed, "Oh Summanus, our dearest brother is here!"

The faintest of frowns passed across his face. He did not get along with his brother. He at least liked his sisters, and was willing to be in their presence for an extended period of time if they so desired, but he barely tolerated his brother. They were complete opposites in almost every conceivable way. It also bothered him how he acted around Minzy. True, he protected her, however they way he looked at her sometimes disturbed Summanus. It always made him feel uncomfortable. And besides from that, Lucifer's temper was out of control, and to someone like Summanus -who was always in complete control of how he acted except in extreme situations- that was not only annoying and embarrassing, but extremely offensive. The point being that his feelings for his brother was slightly better than disdain.

Her third question was the only one he had answered, and was also the first time he spoke. "Would you like me to close the curtains?" she asked.

"No. I need to see Celestine now. I ran into you quite by accident." He stood up, tussling her hair slightly, and silently walked out the door. He needed to see as much of this place as he could now, so that if need be, he could transport anywhere inside later on.

He refused to go outside. There was no way on this world that he would ever set foot outside during the daytime. Not unless there was a massive amount of shade available. Yet despite all this, There were people he was required to meet out there. Normally this would not be a problem for him, seeing as how he hated being around people. However, this time was different. He NEEDED to go greet these four siblings. Currently he was looking out through a window at an angle so that the sunlight was completely missing him. Seeing as how no one was there for him to be polite to, there was no reason to force himself to go through the agony of sitting directly in the light. He watched as his brother and sister greeted each other before the four siblings from the other family came out of their own carriage. Two brothers, two sisters. How odd that it would seemingly be such a perfect match for the two families. I wonder what they would have done if the numbers were different? He pondered to himself. Would they have made as many of us as they could, marry? Or only the oldest ones? all of this made him question the meaning behind the marriages. But in truth, it would not make any difference whatsoever. He would get married because he was told to, and he would treat his bride and her family as he would his own. No matter how much he may end up despising them. Then again, he could end up liking them. one never knew.

In the end, he decided to go downstairs to the entrance hall, and find an unlit corner and wait for them to come inside. This was the absolute best he could do given the circumstances. This proved to be more difficult than he thought. The entry hall was filled with candles so as to provide maximum lighting for the occupants. Oh how nice of the servants. he thought sarcastically. finally, he found a pillar next to the back corner in the room, which created almost a perfect box for him to stand. It was out of the way, unnoticeable, and dark. The headache from the candlelight instantly went away as he stepped in his new favorite spot. Once he was in place, he gathered the inky blackness of Dark around him, so as to be a bit more comfortable, and waited.

Waiting in the quiet room was rather peaceful, Summanus realized. his little hideaway was quite comfortable, since he brought a small chair in the corner a few minutes ago after growing weary of standing for so long. he was sitting at attention reflecting on what Minzy had asked him earlier about what he looked for in a spouse, when the doors flew open. A man wearing a mask stormed through the room, and much to Summanus's relief, headed toward the hallway beyond the room. He was obviously not Lucifer, so Summanus assumed he was one of his sister's soon to be husbands. How odd. He reminds me of Lucifer. I do not think that is good. The man clearly had not spent time introducing himself to his siblings, who were now all outside together. This breach in etiquette disturbed him, and caused him to be slightly offended.

Suddenly, the man stopped and clutched his mask, still on his face. slowly, a maelstrom of sparks and electric arcs started to form around him, releasing a powerful energy Summanus had rarely seen from any mortal. Soon, his mask shattered, the pieces falling to the floor. "Looks like I did it again..." The man said in a strange tone. "Now they're going to see this and think I'm angry. Well, they wouldn't be wrong, but it's not like they'd understand what I'm mad about."

Oh my, but he is a strange one. I wonder why we would not understand?

The man muttered something again, and started to walk away, leaving the shattered remains of the mask laying in the floor. Once he was gone, Summanus sent a small inky black disk across the floor and surrounded the mask. a moment later it fell through the Dark as if it were a hole, and landed on his lap. after a few minutes of work, He had completely assembled it, apart from several miniscule chips. he had used the melted wax from the nearest candle to hold it together, and fill in the holes. the cracks were still clearly visible, spider-webbing across the surface in dark grey lines. But he liked how it looked. But what am I going to do with it?

Aurora flinched, barely visible as Valde stormed off. It always worried her when he got this angry, and she hoped her suitors wouldn't hold it against him. It seemed like most of the introductions had been given, so Aurora cleared her voice and said, "Ah.. If you will excuse me, I am going to go find my brother." She gave an apologetic nod of her head before turning and walking gracefully into the castle. The rooms were vast with high ceilings and somewhat dim lighting.

Aurora continued walking forward before stopping abruptly and turning her head to a darkened corner of the room. Her blue eyes narrowed as she made out the figure of a pale man sitting in a chair, a broken mask on his lap. "Hello... My name is Aurora Richeson. It is a pleasure to meet you." She curtsied, eyes still focused on the strange man. ~Why does he stay in the dark? He must be uncomfortable around other people.~

While he was pondering what to do with the mask, someone else walked in. A female, most likely one of his potential brides. "Hello... My name is Aurora Richeson. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Aurora? such an odd name... I believe it means, "Dawn." Well that is not a good sign at all, now is it? After a moment of consideration, he slowly stood up and took a few steps forward, still keeping a distance as the shadows clung to his face. "Greetings, Aurora. You may call me, Summanus." He then took off his hat, and bowed low before standing up and holding the repaired mask out. A shadow slithered across his arm and engulfed the object. The piece of Dark floated over to the girl, and left the mask on the floor.

Taking the time to examine her now, his initial reaction was something along the lines of, "Oh dear gods, not pink." but he soon realized that despite the horrid color choice she was indeed quite beautiful. There was something about the color of her hair that reminded him of midnight. How odd. He thought to himself. One would not think that a girl of her demeanor and physical features would choose to wear such bright colors. Especially pink. If there was any color he hated more than white, it was pink. Oh well, no matter. I have preformed the standard greeting..... What am I suppose to do now? Blast it all.

†~Aurora Richeson~†

"Greetings, Aurora. You may call me, Summanus."

Aurora nodded before bending down slowly to pick up the mask on the floor. It looked as if it had been broken. If she wasn't mistaken this was Valde's mask, however it had been repaired with dark strands of... well she wasn't entirely sure what it was. Either way, it looked astounding in a gothic sort of way. Her voice was gentle and quiet as she spoke. "Very well done. Although, I think this mask would suit you better." Aurora laid it back down on the floor and pushed it towards Summanus with her index finger. For whatever reason, she felt as if she should not come too close to Summanus. She kept her distance and made sure to stay aware of her surroundings. Although the day was going well so far, Aurora made sure to keep her guard up, seeing as she had no idea what else to expect. She took a deep breath and suddenly felt the urge to go outside. "I look forward to tonight." Aurora didn't smile, but curtsied before heading off in an unknown direction.

Three minutes later, Aurora found herself standing on a balcony overlooking the back courtyard. It was filled with flowers of various kinds. Farther back there was a small pond, it's waters rolling gently in the breeze. Nature was always calming, but Aurora loved the wind more than anything else. Its soft caress against her cheek, its playful touch on her hair. For a moment, she felt almost as if she were back at home. She turned her head and noticed noticed a rose vine snaking up the castle wall, part of it on the balcony. She picked a brilliant red one and turned it over in her hand. Aurora examined it's petals and thorns. One of the thorns happened to snag her finger, causing a small drop of blood to well up. Unalarmed, Aurora looked at the drop of blood and then back at the rose she had picked. Even it's beautiful red color could not match the dark crimson of her blood. ~It seems even blood is redder than a rose...~ She placed the rose gently down on the balcony, put her finger to her mouth, and hoped it would stop bleeding soon. Thankfully since it was a small wound, it stopped bleeding after about a minute.

Lonán Samil Richeson

The sounds around him were muffled, his head pounded, scenery around him seemed to melt into each other as if he were in a trance, the entire world going lucid and beginning to break down. His breathing become shoddy, heavy as he gasped for breath. The people and things around him dissolved and he found himself standing alone in a black void. What is this? Even tough the words weren't spoken, they still echoed as if they were. His eyes widened as he let out a gasp and raised a hand to clutch at his chest.

Then, nothing. Just darkness, he could feel his presence, but he couldn't see it. He had become the void, and now the only sound that echoed throughout the darkness was his fading heart beat.

Lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub lub-dub

Then that stopped as well. Everything fell silent. But then, out of nowhere, ice branched out, enveloping the darkness and freezing it. The darkness had faded now to a white, cold void. Then everything shattered and Lonán was welcomed back to reality, a vacant look in his eyes, and his arms at his sides. What was that? A hallucination? A dream? To an outside observer, it would have have just appeared to them that Lonán had been standing perfectly still, remaining quiet and staring off into the distance.

He cleared his throat and nodded to both Ike and Aurora, acknowledging their presence and then shaking his head a little. "Sorry, just got lost in... something." He took off his mask, and underneath lay a face flushed and pale, sweat clinging to the edges. Color started to return as he took a breath and ran a hand across his forehead. He replaced the mask, letting out a sigh and then a chuckle. "Sure was quite a something. But enough talk, I suggest we lead ourselves to the ballroom."

He left them then, leaving option for them to follow him before finding his own way. After a short walk, the large area wasn't entirely difficult to locate. Its occupancy of one surprised him, though. He approached Summanus and also immediately reached for something to eat, pushing the mask up slightly to rest on his head, so his mouth would be accessible. He remained silent as he took the first bite into it, turning his gaze to rest on the other man, who obviously looked uncomfortable, told by the way he held himself. It was almost as if he was trying to slink away from it all.

"You look like what I assume everybody else feels." Lonán smirked and lowered the mask, having finished off his sandwich and now crossed his arms around his chest. "Here's hoping all goes well and none of us have to break the ice." He chuckled slightly at this, realizing that the other man wouldn't quite get the humor in it. "I mean, I just don't want it to be all awkward and such." He cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably himself.

Lonán let out a barely audible chuckle. "Yes, I suppose it is ironic, huh..." He fell quiet as the man resumed eating, then asked him a question.

"What do you think of this deal between the Royals?"

His eyes went soft, and he turned his gaze to the floor. "I think that if this is what needs to be done to achieve peace between our neighboring kingdoms and stop the blood shed, then it should be done." His voice steeled and he balled his hands into fists.

"But I don't think this should have been necessary. I do not respect the decisions my parents made for it to lead to this, nor do I respect the choices yours made. I feel it shouldn't have come this far, having our parents put their own children into endangerment just to fix the fucking mistakes they made." His fist slammed down onto the table twice as he spoke, adding to his words.

Red eye went black, void of all color, and he brought his other fist down onto the table and leaned on them, bracing himself. "Damn it!"

But it stopped short, eye returned normal, and he straightened himself up, taking shaky breaths. He momentarily tried to contain himself before taking off his mask, setting it on the table and raising a hand to his face. "I apologize. I am just nervous, and it's making me edgy."

What an obvious lie.

Mikah Yule

Mikah felt the beat of the waltz fill inside her. She wanted to dance, but she knew she couldn't, as she didn't know how. Suddenly, Mikah could feel something whiz past her. It was light and airy, but she still sensed something. Gradually, the light of the candles began to fade, and some were extinguished. This was not the work of the wind; there was a dark intelligence in the room. Some of the royals oood and ahhd, while others became frightened. Throughout all this excitement, Mikah could see a young man behind her giving facial expressions as though he was concentrating on something. Without a doubt, Mikah knew he was a vampire.

His trick with the lights bewildered Mikah. Was he able to control fire too, or did he use another element like wind? If he was able to use fire at his will, Mikah had to know how he dimmed the lights. Mikah had only used her sword to start fires, not to put them out. This trick that the young man had performed could be used as a strategy in combat. Mikah almost didn't want to ask him, as he had a scary prescence about him, but she knew she had to. It was for the safety of the royal family.

Mikah took a deep breath and casually approached him, holding her rose behind her back. "Excuse me..." she asked shyly, "...just out of curiousity....had did you manage to do that.....with the lights?" Mikah slowly increased her volume as she spoke. "I've seen many things with the like of fire.........but i've never seen anything like that before. How on earth did you manage to pull that off?" she asked, confused and curious.

Lyra had begun to dance her last waltz when she noticed the lights dim inside the ballroom. One being in particular stood out to her. One in the corner had been glaring to the world since they arrived. What could posses a vampire to seem so hateful toward the world? She blamed it on their culture. Always being so isolated, Lyra would begin to hate the world also. Maybe he was one of those 'tortured souls' who pitied himself. Either way, he had caught her attention and she decided to get a closer look.

With a short curtsy, she jetted away from seeking hands and over to a large window which overlooked the kingdom. Her heart sank in realization she may never know what world was foretold beyond the view, and quickly turned away. A girl had approached the dark vampire now, and though Lyra was a little worried for her, she doubted the man would do anything vulgar with such an audience. She would wait out the conversation until the girl walked away, then maybe she would talk to the being.

†~Aurora Richeson~†

Aurora immediately sensed a darker... presence.. in the room, but she knew it was not a human or an animal. She figured it must have come from one of the vampires, most likely the one she had met earlier. Summanus. Ella hardly seemed to notice when the lights dimmed, for she was too busy chattering away about trivial things like dresses and the prospects of a future husband. Aurora really wasn't paying attention, but she smiled and nodded enough to satisfy her companion.

"Ah! If you'll excuse me." A man had asked Ella to dance, and she smiled apologetically at Aurora before heading onto the dance floor. Aurora closed her eyes rubbed her temples. This was going to be a very long night. Although she had had to attend plenty of balls and social gatherings at home, none were quite like this. High energy everywhere, loud music. At least she had had the option of leaving at home by making some excuse, but here she had an obligation. A glass of fine wine was offered to her, and although Aurora typically avoided alcoholic beverages, she accepted. She needed something to dull the headache that was starting to come on. About ten minutes passed, with Ella still dancing gayly with various men, human and vampire. Though hardly any humans had been invited to the ball, a few were sent so as to keep the royals from feeling too uncomfortable. Suddenly one was there, asking her for a dance. The alcohol had Aurora feeling bold, so she set her glass down on a nearby table and took the man's hand to join in on a waltz.

Dancing seemed to come naturally for whatever reason. Aurora hadn't drunk enough alcohol to feel tipsy, just lighthearted and fluid. Though dancing usually felt like a chore, Aurora was actually having fun with this man whom she had never met. Three more dances came and went, and before she knew it, Aurora was smiling and out of breath. Her partner guided Aurora to a table where she sat down, grateful for the opportunity to rest her aching feet.

Mikah Yule

"I am not sure how. I should not have been able to." the man said, tiredly. His words bewildered Mikah even more. How could he not know? Was his sorcery rare and only able to reveal itself at certain times?
"Fire? Hardly." he said, panting slightly. Mikah's heart dropped down into her stomach. The whole time, she hoped that she could learn a valuable trick with fire, but instead, she was embarassing herself by talking to this creepy vampire man. She was still a little curious about him though, as he looked like he was strangely tired.
"My powers are a bit... broader." he said in an almost sadistic tone. Mikah was about to ask what he had meant, when suddenly, she felt something slithering up her back, unto her cheek. She jumped as she saw the black tendrils. "WHAT THE HE-.......oh....OH!" she exclaimed, laughing hardily. She put two and two together, and realized she had been very wrong about the man's powers. "You got me good there!!!" Mikah said with a small chuckle. She hadn't been pranked in the longest time.
"So rather, instead of fire, i'm assuming your powers are light based, correct? Or rather, darkness based? Hmm...very interesting! Thank you for the talk, sir, it was rather intriguing! I guess i shall see you again soon!" and with a small curtsy, Mikah walked away from the dark man. She was sad to know that she couldn't learn a new trick, but also joyful from the man's actions.

She simply started to walk in circles, looking for others she knew. She thought she spotted Aurora sitting next to someone at one of the tables. "Hello, Aurora!" Mikah said unconciously as she passed her. Instead of the usual deep voice she greeted her with, Mikah was able to use her normal voice. There were so many things Mikah didn't have to remember while she was in her new disguise. Perhaps Sir Ike would be gone hunting for the next week or two.

Mikah stopped at the same spot where she was before. She looked before her at the couples dancing, and fiddled with her rose. She didn't see the point in holding it, but it was fun to have. Perhaps she could be silly and put it in her mouth if she ever got to dance with someone. As the musicians started to play a song that Mikah knew, she softly hummed along and closed her eyes as she listened to it.

Lyra had been observing the world around her when she heard footsteps stop at her side. Turning to see her companion, she found herself sighing. The events which would occur on this night would affect the rest of her life no matter what happened. She tried to remain calm at the semi-new face and smiled gently. "Prince Summanus is it?" She curtsied toward the ground slowly and raised her eyes to meet his. Lyra began to wonder about his intentions. Maybe he didn't approach her for conversation, maybe he didn't want to approach her at all. Either way, she was going to stir up some conversation.

She followed his gaze to the world outside and nodded in silent agreement. "It will storm I believe." The air seemed smooth compared to the stuffy dance floor, but Lyra could almost hear the clouds roll over the castle. She imagined rain falling over the dark land and tilted her head to the skyline, hoping to have a confirmation. The goblet she had acquired was draining rather quickly, yet she still drank the hypnotic liquid. She didn't want to get drunk, but a solid buzz could do her good for a change.

"Do you enjoy such weather?" She couldn't understand why anyone would love a lot of rain. Sure, it helped their crops and furnished her garden, but too much rain would only bring Lyra down. As a child, she would run through the garden maze after a mist and do nothing but play with small worms and enjoy the crisp air. As a young woman though, she had to look at the more economical side of things. "It would do a great deal for the crops...I cannot say as much of the flowers though. They will most likely be trampled by the raindrops."

Lyra felt snobbish as she spoke of nature. She wasn't a botanist, nor did she know many things about the outside world, but she didn't know a few things about gardening and rain could be hell for a small gardenia. She yearned to build a greenhouse on the grounds around her, and hoped the vampires already had one. What would they need with a greenhouse though? Do they even use herbs? Do they only drink blood?

Lyra listened to Summanus' sentiments and chuckled at his words. Most would not use such vulgarity in public, or even in their own castle. Men were certainly consistent though. Whether they were reading a poem, fighting a battle, or arguing over politics, they always managed to cuss. Being a woman, Lyra had come accustomed to their politeness while in her presence. She didn't always agree with the temporary change of morals, but this one had caught her off guard. Then again, men were different than woman, and vampires were different then men.

Vulgar or not, Lyra had witnessed much rudeness in her lifetime, and although she hadn't taken offense to his statement, she began to feel a sort of cold shoulder. Mulling her response over her tongue, she tried to think of a way to show she was in a neutral feeling about the rain. "I am sorry I did not think of that earlier, now I feel a little foolish. But answer me this, if the rain pours onto this earth, creating floods and erodes the land-" Thinking about her next words caused her to pause then sigh at the annoyance of the subject. "I guess rain, whether destructive or plentiful, is a blessing. As you stated, things grow back which is better than nothing growing at all." Looking out the window, she could already see small droplets plop onto the glass, then slide to the earth, begging her to let her hair down and find solace in the outside world.

†~Aurora Richeson~†

At the distant sound of thunder, Aurora stood up and thanked her dancing partner. The sound of a storm always drew her outside, no matter the circumstances. Besides, the alcohol had begun to wear off, and the feeling of cold water on her face would soothe her. As she was heading towards the door, she overheard Lyra and Summanus talking about the rain. Curious, she paused before quickly appearing next to her sister's side, almost as if she were a ghost. "Rain is quite beautiful, isn't it?" Aurora smiled slightly at the disgruntled look on her sister's face before turning her pale blue eyes on Summanus. "My sister does not share in my love of nature, for she is a practical thinker. Although often she has good arguments to uphold her position on the subject." Aurora brushed the top of her sister's hand, hopefully to reassure her. She hated the thought of her siblings being uncomfortable or upset.

Aurora sighed, barely audible. "I would love to be outside, but unfortunately..." She looked at the crowd of dancers on the floor. She could do nothing to tarnish her family's image, and standing outside in the pouring rain was a good way to get sick or worse - humiliate her family. Aurora wished the ball would end. Though normally she was a very patient person, she desired nothing more than for the music to stop, people to leave, and to hear the calming sound of the rain as it hit against the roof. As a child, the rain lulled her to sleep better than any song. It washed away her fears and comforted her whenever she was upset. That had never changed, nor did she expect it ever would.

"If it were not improper for a lady to do such a thing, I cannot say I would not do the same." Summanus intrigued Aurora for a reason she could not quite figure out. ~He is certainly a mysterious one, although everyone has their secrets to keep. I wonder how he can stand to be in a room with so many people... With the sudden realization that she may be bothering the prince, Aurora lowered her head just slightly. How could she not have noticed? Suddenly self-conscious, she looked at the pink dress she was wearing and at her sister's bright red dress. Internally she cringed. It was obvious Summanus didn't like bright places, much less bright clothing. Clearing her throat, Aurora spoke to her sister. "Come Lyra, I would like to have a talk with you." Aurora managed a very small yet polite smile before tugging on Lyra's arm in the hopes that she would follow.

Lyra had politely been listening to the petty conversation before being pulled away by Aurora. She hadn't exactly been enjoying the prince's company, but different views always delighted her, and she was sorry to have to leave so early in the conversation. Curtseying low, she smiled warmly to Sammanus before taking a step back. "I am sorry to leave so soon but it appears I am needed elsewhere. PlEase excuse us." Nodding her head towards Aurora, she sashayed through the crowd into a quiet corner.

Placing her hands in front of her gown, she sighed to Aurora. "Now, what is so important as you must interrupt a conversation?" She lectured her sister lightly as they were both in new situations and many eyes were apon them. she hadn't really taken the time to asses her sibling's choice of gown though, and was slightly pressed with her choice, and wondered how the night had been treating her.
