Introduction

Image
These two boys have grown up together and fell in love with each other. They are a young couple with lots of energy to spend on each other. They spend all day and everyday together. They are a shameless and naughty couple, not afraid of doing what they want. They are an irresponsible couple, but love each other nonetheless.

When one of them receives a letter from his grandmother, saying that she is not well enough to raise a child that she adopted almost 2 years ago. These two boys laugh, not taking it seriously, only to have their doorbell ring the next day to see a boy standing outside their house with a letter addressing them. They read the letter, and it turns out, the grandmother is dead, and it is up to the couple to take care of the boy, who happens to be homophobic.

The site of him sleeping made him smile. It brought a little relief to Rieto's troubled mind. He was stuck thinking about the kid who came up to the front door of their apartment yesterday and was now sleeping only two doors down from them. Rieto had to get him into high school... and then buy clothes for him, find out what food he likes... "There is no way in hell either of us are ready to be parents. Especially not to someone like this kid..."

Sleep may be something Morgan could do anywhere, but that didn't mean it was good sleep. Most of the times it seemed more like waking nightmares. Being a policeman was not an easy job, especially not in a city as bad as this was. And it wasn't that bad, particularly. But Morgan had sen a few things in his time that he wouldn't wish on his greatest of enemies. It wasn't so much nightmares anymore, but rather memories, now embelished with Reito's face where other victims had once been. The thought made him cringe. If there was anything or anyone he wanted more than to protect Rei, he hadn't found it yet.

No, mommy, don't go to sleep, you can't... Haunting visions of one of his first cases came flooding back, making his right eye socket itch. His left eye snapped open.He stared up at the ceiling before glancing over without moving his head. He smiled softly when he saw Reito was awake and sitting up. He pushed himself up on his elbows, and then sat up, sliding both arms around Reito's waist. "Morning." He said softly while planting a kiss on his cheek. "I know you're a morning person, but really, this is early even for you. Let me guess...it's because of Volvo or Volkin, whatever the hell the kid's name is, right?"

"Yeah." Rieto winced as his boyfriend hugged his waist. He was sore from yesterday's activities... -_- "It's almost time for you to wake up anyways. You need to shower before you go to work." Rieto told him with a small smile. Rieto moved to give Morgan a sloppy kiss as he shifted to looked at his naked form. "And his name is Volos. Treat him nicely." Rieto said sternly, and yet with the same kindness he always had.

"He'll learn, one way or another."

Morgan almost snorted. "When the kid shows us some respect, I'll return the favor." He thought about Volos for a second. The kid had guts, and an attitude. And was using it to hurl himself down a dark path. Morgan didn't want to get out bed, or face the day, or the amount of work he had to acomplish. A series of gang murders with no leads and their best suspect was one of the victims. He sighed, scratching at his right eye socket absent-mindedly. He plopped back down, pulling Reito down with him, kissing him again while his hands played along his back. "The kid'll have to learn that he's got to listen to us. If he doesn't, he's not going to have an easy time of it. Not that he's had one anyway. Neither did I, but at least I didn't go around hating the world." He seemed to be speaking more to himself than to Reito, and then he sighed again and slowly pulled himself away from Reito and the bed. "And fine, I'll shower now, but you owe me one later." He told his boyfriend with a wicked smile.

While his newest set of parents talked, Volos took to unpacking what little he had, clothing, books, the small gifts that he had been given and actually liked, before he looked around the room. It was still too empty, still too large. He reached into his bag one last time and pulled out the most important thing to him. "Good morning, Lucifer. Once again, I've gotten no sleep... But I did finish my copy of the final Harry Potter book again." He moved them to the desk, sitting in the chair and resting his first friend against the wall. With a nod, he pulled out his notebook and began to doodle whatever came into his head first. He picked at his newest set of bandages, from a school gang who he demolished with ease. The one on his cheek itched something awful as he sketched.

Rieto gave Morgan a weak smile as he looked at him. "You need to shower before you go to work. If anything, you should owe me one for reminding you." Rieto stood up and went to go find himself some pants and a shirt to wear. He looked back at Mo-mo one last time. "Just go shower. I'll have coffee for you when you get out." Rieto stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him to give his boyfriend privacy. He walked by Volos' room, calling him out to the kitchen. "Come on, Volos. Come and get some breakfast before school."

"Morgan hated keeping secrets, but he didn't want to worry Reito. He had enough on his mind."

Morgan kept the easy smile plastered onto his face until he shut the door behind him in the bathroom. It dropped almost instantly, his eyes heavy and haunted with a restless night. He knew Reito had some inkling of when Morgan got little to no sleep, but he never really would talk about it with him. As much as he hated tip-toeing around the truth with his boyfriend, he didn't want Reito to worry about him while he was working, either. Reito had enough on his plate, he didn't need to add Morgan's monsters on there as well, especially not with the new kid just across the hall. A part of Morgan seethed at the thought. Rei was his. This kid intruding didn't belong here. And yet, Morgan couldn't help but see so much of himself in Volos, it pulled at him. There had to be something he could do to make the kid see just how bad things would get if he kept on like this. He sighed, looking at his scared eyelid. It itched. He turned away from the mirror, showered, and stepped out, pulling on shorts and a white t-shirt, then his blue cover-alls. The nice thing about his job at the moment, he could wear whatever the hell he wanted to, as he was now the agencies' lead undercover cop. Sure, it was a lot more dangerous than a street cop, but it payed better, and truth be told, it was a lot more fun. He walked out to the kitchen, taking a long drink from his coffee cup Reito had placed on the table for him. He glanced around, and then up the hall. "Volos hasn't come out of his room yet, I see."

"Come on, Volos. Come and get some breakfast before school."

That startled the other and he quickly closed the notebook. He stuffed the leather bound book into his backpack, set Lucifer back into his suitcase and stood at the door. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door, an instant frown plastered on his face. He had never had to make two homosexuals hate him before, it'd be hard on his mental abilities, but he was sure he could do it. If worse came to worse, then he'd run away, like always. With the backpack on one shoulder, he looked down at the plate of food, glaring at it as if it had offended him. Well, it offended the newest Volos Mask, the Homo Hater, but not the real Volos. It actually was nice having someone else cook for him but that was quickly dispelled. The real Volos couldn't come out yet. Probably never. Grabbing a piece of toast and an apple from the plate, he took his leave, not even giving a thanks to the other red head. That would show weakness, a crack in his mask.

"Whatever your food did to offend you, I'm sure it will apologize if you ask it nicely enough. Or you could just eat it, that would work, too."

Morgan sighed as Volos left without a word. "Cheery kid, isn't he?" Morgan shook his head, checking his watch. He needed to get going, Chuck would be expecting him in twenty minuets. He put the coffee cup in the sink, and grabbed a piece of toast. He gave Reito a kiss on the cheek, saying, "I don't know when I'll be home, it may be late. Chuck and I will be downtown most, if not all, day. We really need a good lead in this case, or at least a break. I'll see you when I get home, but don't wait up for me. One of us not getting enough sleep is bad enough, let alone two.."

He went through to the garage, starting up his pride and joy. The bike roared to life as he guided it down the driveway, catching Volos as he was about to cross the street. Morgan paused, cutting off the kid's walking route, and lifted up his visor. "You know, whatever your breakfast did to offend you, eating it tends to shut it up. Just a thought, kid. Try not to get into too much trouble. I know, it's not easy. But you're a lot smarter than most kids. It isn't really fair to them, now is it?" Morgan didn't wait for a reply, but instead roared off, heading to his meeting point with Chuck.

Volos nibbled on his toast, his headphones over his ears. He turned to see no other than his new "father" on a motorbike. Real Volos whistled at the beautiful machine. Mask Volos glared.

Volos blinked as Morgan flew off, ignoring him. None of his other parents had ever given him advice before. It was new and the red head wasn't sure how to deal with it. So he allowed a small crack in the mask. "Life isn't fair... Why should I be...?" He muttered softly before he replaced the mask. He continued to school, unabashed by anything or one. Except for throwing an apple at the back of some jerk's head when he bullied a underclassman. It hit him and knocked him over, making everyone laugh at him. The kid thanked him but he che-ed and scowled, though he slipped a piece of paper into his pocket with his cell phone number.

Later the bully found him and tried to fight him. Emphasis on tried. Volos destroyed him, leaving him in a bloody pile on the hallway floor as he walked away, uncaring. He'd get in trouble for it but at least he got his anger out.

Almost an hour later, as Rieto was ready to leave for his classes, he got a call. When he picked it up, he heard a lady say, "Hello, this is Multan High and we just wanted to let you know that Volos, you son, is in the principal's office for assault of another student. If you could come to the school to pick him, that would be great." The last part was said in such a sarcastic tone, even a kid could tell it was sarcasm, and before Rieto could respond, the woman hung up. Rieto sighed, wanting to just throw a melt down and cry. This was so hard on him. His boyfriend hated the kid, and this kid was making it hard to love him. Rieto just wanted his grandmother to say that he did a good job taking care of Volos, but it wasn't working out right now.

Rieto sent Morgan a text as he left the house to go pick up Volos. 'Volos got in trouble at school, so I'm going to go talk to him. Do you want me to bring you some lunch while I'm out?

Rieto hopped into his car and drove all the way to the school, drying his tears from earlier. As he came up to the school, he hardened himself so that Volos wouldn't crush his heart. Rieto needed to prove to the kid that he could be a good parent, just like his grandmother. Rieto walked into the main office and looked at the secretary, then to Volos. He let out a little breath of relief, though he wasn't sure it was for. "Come on, Mr. Masashimi. The principal will speak with the both of you now."

Rieto turned to Volos before looking to the secretary and following her to the principal's office.

Volos looked at Rieto's back in surprise. He wasn't expecting the other red head at all. Maybe he expecting to just deal with the principal by himself or maybe he wanted Morgan to be here. Standing and shoving his hands into his pockets, he followed his new mother inside. Inside, he snickered at the thought, outwardly, he kept scowling. Once both were seated, the old fart began to talk.

"Mr. Alk... Alck..." The principal stumbled over his last name, making Volos growl and cross him arms.

"Alkaev." He spat.

"Right... Do you know why you're here?" He asked the younger red head. Volos rolled his eyes, giving the man a look that said 'Did you really just ask me that?'

"That dumbass decided that I did something to him so I kicked his sorry ass." He muttered, looking at the man in front of him. The man blinked and narrowed his eyes.

"From what I was told, you assaulted him out of nowhere. Who should I believe..." The man seemed to smirk at him, making his eye twitch. This man pissed him off, the real him, not the mask. The low growl that escaped his throat made the man falter. "Look, until I know-"

"Bullshit. That kid bullies the younger ones, he's just pissy cause I did something about it and made him look like a bitch! I did nothing but help the kid when your teachers did nothing!" He snarled, the real Volos showing. His entire demeanor shifted from uncaring to passionate. He barely caught himself, noticing he was now standing, leaned over the desk that separated them. His body shook in anger as the man cringed.

Rieto sat for a moment, just listening, until he noticed that the argument was escalating. He saw something in Volos that he hadn't before, and it sparked something in Rieto. Before the principal could respond to Volos' outburst, Rieto came to his defense, taking a step towards the man. "Look. Volos' care-taker has just recently passed and he is now in a home he is clearly not comfortable with. Give him a break. He's a teenage kid with a difficult life right now. I am his guardian now, and I will address the situation, but just let this slide, or I will ask my boyfriend to come and arrest you for something. He'll come up with something."

Rieto pulled out his phone, ready to call Morgan, as he glared harshly at the principal. He was ready to defend a kid who stood up to a bully. He stepped in front of Volos to take the principal's eye contact from him and start an unspoken battle between Rieto and the man.

"You never really did know when to walk away."

"Oh, don't bother calling Morgan, Morgan's here." Morgan said, leaning against the door frame of the principals' office, a rather distressed-looking secretary behind him. "As for something to arrest him for, I can point out two violations of being apart of the school system right now." He nodded to the principals' bookshelf, where there was a set of books leaning over. Morgan silently leaned over and reached through them, as the principal began to stutter and stammer at him to stop, pulling out a bottle of vodka. He then nodded to his desk. "There's a key on your desk there that doesn't match the make or modle of any type of lock in this room, one that's visible, anyhow." He then pointed to the far wall, where one of the diplomas hung crooked. "Judging by how that's hanging, and the white residue on your cuffs, I'm guessing that's where your stash is. I'm guessing you also distribute to the kids around here who pay you enough, and swear to keep their mouths shut, am I right?"

The principals eyes began to bulge, but he couldn't speak. He simply had nothig to say, because he knew he'd been caught. Morgan silently strode forward, dropping his credentials on the desk. "Now let's get one thing straight. I'm a firm believer in second chances. You've got one month to straighten up, if you're not clean, I get to come in and arrest your sorry ass. As for payment for your month, you let the kid slid. Deal? Or would you rather I arrest you now and parade you through the school?" Morgan said all of this with a straight, somewhat plesant face, but his voice was thin and deadly cold. The man was panting, mopping at his brow, and then finally, after looking around at the three others like a scared and cornered rabbit, he nodded, apparently not trusting himself to speak. Morgan picked up his credentials, putting them back in his pocket. "Thank you. Now if you don't mind, the three of us will be leaving." He turned on his heel and walked out, his hands shoved in his pockets.

Volos blinked as both Rieto and the late Morgan appeared to help him. He remembered bitterly that before he had to make his own case, defend himself. Having back up... It was gratifying. Not enough to make him trust the couple, but he could get mask Volos to tolerate them, if only a little. He still couldn't trust after his babushka, Rieto's grandmother, died. He could still remember her cooling hand in his own trembling ones.

Shaking his head as Morgan left, he waited until both his guardians left before he jumped over the desk and grabbed the man by his shirt, his eyes aflame. "You won't even get a month in my book. Get rid of this shit by burning it in a week or I'll do you like I did that kid and everyone that pisses me off." He dropped the man and froze as a picture fell out of his pocket. It was a crying girl, barely 14, tied up. Volos saw red. He began to slam his fists into the man's face. "You. Fucking. Make. Me. SICK!" He always thought that the man was a freak but this... This was too far.

"You never really did know when to walk away."

"Alright, that's enough!" Morgan yelled as he forcibly pulled Volos off of the principal. The man tried to stand up, put Morgan pushed him back down into the chair with his foot. "Volos, are you going to calm down or do I have to cuff you? As for you--" He pointed to the principal, his hand shaking with the rage he felt both flowing from Volos and building up within himself. "You're not going anywhere you sick son of a bitch." He shoved Volos back into the chair behind him, not the most gently, and then pulled out his phone. "Chuck, get up here, now. We've got a disturbance at the school. Not to mention we may have a disappearance. I'll find out and fill you in when you get here." He snapped the phone shut, shut the door to the office, locked it, and drew the blinds. The man was whimpering, trying to wipe the blood off of his face. He was only suceeding in smearing it. Morgan grabbed the picture, shoving it in the man's face. "I want answers, and I want them now. Who is she, where is she, and where did you get this." It wasn't a question. Morgan didn't have time for games.

"I-I don't know, I swear! There wa a man, he--he was selling all sorts of photos and things--"

"Who was the man, what did he look like?" The man shook his head, saying he didn't know. "That's not good enough, damnit! What, you like them underage, scared? It's what makes you feel powerful, am I right, you bastard? Did it ever occur to you that the man who took this picture kidnapped this girl? Maybe even killed her?" The man's eyes widened. "Yeah, that's right. She's one of the missing persons cases that I'm working on. I'll ask you only once more. Who did you get this photo from?" The man still stuttered through I-don't-knows and other things. Morgan wasn't going to get anything out of him like this. There was a knock, and Morgan let Chuck in. His partner looked thoroughly confused. "Take this piece of shit down to the station. This was on him." He handed Chuck the photo, who looked incredulous. "Seriously, where did he get this?"

"He won't answer. Lock him up, and I'll try intterogating him again." He turned to Volos, picking the kid up by his collar. "As for you, come on. We're going home."

Volos snarled at the man who threw him off his prey, barely stopping himself from punching him. He struggled as he was roughly shoved into a chair, making him growl as an old wound was hit. He watched as the bastard was interrogated by his foster father. It didn't satisfy him at all. He wanted the man dead, but not before he was beaten within an inch of his life.

As he was picked up by his collar, he could only glare up at him, though it was halfhearted. He only wanted to be let down. He didn't struggle though. He just hung there like a bedraggled kitten. Though he did wipe his hands on his pants, smearing the red blood on his dark pants. He wondered how hard it would be to get out and promised to get it out himself.

"Rei's gonna kill me..."

Morgan drove Volos home, and immediately dragged him into the kitchen. From there, Morgan pulled out the first aid kit, and then proceeded to basically ignore Volos as he stripped off his jacket, and then the top part of the cover-alls and the t-shirt underneath, both of which were stained a dark red. There was a deep, jagged gash in Morgan's side, and it was still bleeding. Morgan glanced at the door. Reito wouldn't like this if he came in and saw. He winced as he stuck the needle he threaded through skin. "Do me a favor and don't tell Reito about this. He'd probably kill me." He told Volos, and after he was done with himself, he turned to the kid. He said not a word, he simply wiped blood off of his face. "You do realize that beating the shit out of someone makes you no better than them, right? That's why we have cops, and people like me, kid." He sighed, leaning against the counter. "We need to find you a better outlet for that anger problem of yours." It didn't seem as if he was talking directly to Volos, a bad habit of his. Turth be told, Volos and his anger problem were not the first things going through Morgan's head. It was that girl. Where had the principal gotten the photo? How was it all conected to the recent gang war that had broken out, and why were all their leads disappearing? It all gave Morgan a headache, so he grabbed the bottle of vicodin [which Rei thought he kept hidden, but Morgan always found it] out of the cubbard, taking two and chewing them. It didn't really occur to him that he'd done it right in front of Volos either until after the fact. He shrugged, cracking his neck as he did so.

Rieto had the left the school because he had to go to his own classes... He couldn't be late for Mr. Bears' class again... Rieto would get an F for sure if that happened. After class though, he made his way home. Hopefully Mo-mo was at work, and Volos in school... but who knew. He let out an exhausted sigh as he walked into his home. When he came in, he saw the two boys chilling in the kitchen. "Mo-san... you should be at work... and Volos.. shouldn't you be at school?" He asked slightly confused. Then he asked a little more seriously, "Morgan. What happened when I left?"

Volos watched as Morgan stitched himself back up. The man told him not to snitch. He could lie easier than he could tell the truth. "Tell Rieto what?" he asked, leaning back in his chair. He began to wrap his bloody knuckles, wincing slightly when he found a broken one. Another one on the other hand.

"We need to find you a better outlet for that anger problem of yours."

Volos snorted but said nothing. He had music and animals to vent to. But he currently had neither. Maybe a visit to the music store was in order. The gods knew the boy needed to play something hard. He snickered inwardly at his mental, dirty joke as Rieto walk in. With his knuckles wrapped, he snuck a pill from Morgan and walked into his room. No use in staying there. He needed to recoup.

"I just...want to sleep."

Morgan looked at Rieto with one big, tired eye. It was currently only 2 pm in the afternoon, and he was flat-out beat. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. He waited until Volos retreated to his room before answering. "Well, after I got there and pointed out some rather conclusive evidence for grounds to arrest that god-awful excuse for a principal, but gave him a month to shape up, Volos took it upon himself to beat the shit out of him after he found this." He flung the picture of the crying girl on the table. "And it gets better. That girl is one of the missing person cases connected to my string of gang-related murders. She was last seen with a member of the Thorns. So I ended up arresting the bastard anyway. Chuck has him down at the station. We're going to let him simmer for a bit before I try to get some answers from him again." He sighed again. "Gotta admit, as bad as the whole thing with Volos at school was, it gave me a lead in an otherwise cold case. He'd make one hell of a cop if he'd just learn to control that temper of his."

Rieto frowned at his boy friend with slight disappointment. Rieto still wanted Volos to be in school... "And now what are we going to do about Volos. He doesn't have a school to go to until they get a new principal." Rieto walked up to Morgan, who was substantially taller than him. "You two are like twins. Stubborn and irresponsible. Why did you leave work in the first place? You need to work. I don't make any money and now we need to take care of Volos. I graduate college this year, but until then,I need you to work hard. When I graduate, you can retire for all I care." Rieto took in a deep breath, right about to cry. Rieto was a very sensitive guy with a lot of feelings. When he was a teenager, he was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. It made sense.

"I'm not always irresponsible..."

Morgan smiled down at Reito, brushing his cheek with the side of his hand. "Rie, I am taking care of the kid, and technically I'm still working. I don't have to be at the station to do that. Whether I break the case or not, I still get paid. Solving the case just gives me a bonus, and thanks to the kid, I may just get that now." He leaned forward, fighting the urge to wince, and kissed Rieto on the forhead. "You need to stop worrying so much. Volos isn't a child, he can take care of himself. He just needs some good direction and perhaps a swift kick in the pants now and again. You just focus on your thing. We'll be fine, alright?"

Rieto's breathing slowed as Morgan's comforting words calmed him down. Rieto leaned his head on Morgan as he spoke, making him feel better. Sometimes Rieto over thought things, and made things seem worse in his head than they actually were. He couldn't help it though. He sighed, wiping the few tears he shed from his face and said to Morgan, "I'm sorry... " Rieto wrapped his arms around Morgan's waist gently and kissed him on the lips softly.

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

SOOO sorry!!!! 0.0 I've been so busy lately... -.-"
It would be so fun to take take the character for Volos :3
Already have a few ideas~

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Ok, sounds like fun. :D Well, not really, but you get what I mean.

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Volos already respects him slightly. For the whole principal thing and all. But I have a feeling that both Rie and Morgan will understand why Volos did was he did to the man when he opens up with his past...

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

I feel as though he'll come to be someone Volos respects a lot...once Volos learns more about him. If Morgan ever lets his gaurd down enough to tell him. Morgan can be...very secretive.

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Morgan didn't get to be a cop on just his good looks :P

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Pffft! The drama is awesome in this! Score one for Badass!Morgan!

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Okay, posted. That one was fun ^^ I like being a cop.

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Mi-mi and I posted!

But our dearest GM should add another character in for Volikins. That way, I'm not so lonely.

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

That'll be fun. I can't really do anyhting until Mi-mi posts again, as I really don't think you all want to read a bunch of posts about Morgan's work day. You'll get a few eventually, cause I hav an idea for Morgan, but for now, the waiting game. :)

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

He's a lovable ass though! I see a very embarrassed Volos going to him for help in the future!

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Pfft, I love playing Morgan. He's such a smart ass. XD

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

I saw that Rei and Vol had red hair and giggled. They look like brothers!

And Embracing can take the character for Volos, if they want.

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

I agree, Child, Volos should have someone. :) And sorry, Embracing, it would appear I got here first :|

!EDIT!: I so just realized that all three of our characters have red/orange hair XD

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Yo, Mi-mi! I think you should slide another character in here... Someone for Volikins maybe..?

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Hey there! Can i reserve boy 2 please? ^-^

Re: Two Plus One Does Not Equal Three

Hiya Mira! Can I slide Volikins back in here?
