Personality
Kayo has always been a caring person who's only wish is to protect those dearest to him, though he doesn't talk very much, so doesn't have that many friends.
He has a vested interest in magic, though he is more interested in using it to enhance his own abilities, rather than rely on magic as his source of strength.
Kayo is generally a very passive individual, however may become very violent if tempered under certain situations.
It is usually quite easy to become friends with Kayo as he doesn't dislike people without having a good reason.
Equipment and Abilities
- Yakusoku -
A Katana with a black grip, dark red handle, and a dark silver blade.
It's name is taken from "Yakusoku suru", which means "Promise".
Instead of naming his katana after a great deed he has done, Kayo has named it after acts of kindness which have yet to happen.
- Magic -
As Kayo comes from a village that is opposed to the use of magic, Kayo specialises in what he calls "Hidden Magic"
which involves manipulating his senses through the use of magic.
Practical uses of this magic may be increasing his own reaction time by altering his perception of the passing of time, or increasing his ability to see in pitch black areas by speeding up the process of his eyes adjusting to the dark.
History
Having come from the village of Kanimo, life has been a bit dull for Kayo. While the village itself is a nice place to live and the people are rather friendly, it's their long lasting hate of magic that sets Kayo aside from the village, though had known about this until recently.
With the small size of his village, there was no school for Kayo to go to, as such it is typically the parent's job to educate the children of the village.
Kayo's mother was a kind lady who sought the good in everything, and taught him to do the same, though he never quite caught on.
She also taught him that the world was a wonderful place, and that there were many beauties in the world that had yet to be discovered by anyone in the village. It was perhaps this very belief that drove Kayo to become a warrior, thinking he could travel anywhere with a blade and a full stomach, and not have to worry about what may be around the next corner.
Discovering his own magical abilities was an accident on Kayo's part, as he rushed to the aid of a younger child who was being bullied in the park. He found everything had began to move a bit slower as he wished to make it to the child before the bullies could land their next attack. Though when he asked the child, they knew nothing about time moving slowly, and accused a nearby magic user of slowing down the entire town.
After realising what he could do, Kayo used his free time to harness his ability, and grew stronger in preparation of his future adventures.
From this, he learnt a number of enchantments he could cast upon himself to enhance his natural abilities, and take advantage of the way his mind worked.
It wasn't until he came of age, which was sixteen in the village, that his magical prowess became known to all he knew.
Kayo had applied to become one of the guards, and during his exam he made use of his magic to smash every entrance record the village had ever seen.
At the end of his trial, he was summoned to the village elder, who deemed him a magician and banished him.
Kayo was never to return to Kanimo again.
