Miscellaneous Physical Description: Irino has long black hair that she usually wears in a pony tail. She ties both the top and bottom of the tail. She has brown eyes. Her skin is a dark Asian tan color. She is not tall and she is thin. Her skin is always clean and she has no marks or scars on her face. Her hands are where people who live around nobles might find odd. Her hands have hard spots on them and her nails are short. Under her silk kimonos her back, shoulders and arms have bruises on them. These all come from practicing martial arts; something that is forbidden for girls to do, but she does in the chalet on the south part of the island. She does Jujutsu (no weapon), Kenjutsu (sword), NInjutsu (disguise, assassin), and Jeodeo (staff).

Irino is pretty and acts like a princess should. She is clean, walks straight, and is very confident. She is smart and enjoys doing memory games and solving puzzles. She also reads, writes, plays the harp and sings.

Post-Baptism Physical Description: There will be little change in her appearance; her fingers and toes will have webs like fish. Her fingers to her knuckles and toes to the nails. She will also have one lung and gills that will let her breathe underwater and on land.

God: Kyoimara. Kyoimara is the Goddess of the Sea and Storms. Kyoimara is the twin sister of Naokar and she controls the seas and storms on the sea. Her followers are usually pirates and smugglers. Other followers are town and kingdoms along the coast, crook merchants and some half-human/half-sea creatures that are part of the Dark.
Kyoimara's symbol is a black crest wave with two lightning bolts crossing the front. Kyoimara's priests and priestesses are called Brethren. They wear robes that are white at the top and black below the waist. Around their waist they wear white rope belts. They wear the Amulet of Kyoimara around their necks during service (the Amulat is not Magic. It's like a cross at Christian services). Worshipers wear white tops and black bottoms at service and the amulet. The tops can be robes or a shirt. The bottoms robe or pants. They don't wear a belt.
Kyoimara favors followers who use their power to enhance their wealth and destroy their enemies.
Services are called 'The Hull' because that's the bottom of the ship. 'Hulls' do not have to be in the bottom of a ship, they can be held in buildings, forests, caves, etc. They must be surrounded on all sides (no meetings in an open field). Services are similar to Latter-Day Saints services. They are divided into three parts; Teachings: At Teachings, worshipers learn about the teachings of Kyoimara. Anyone can lead these teachings. It doesn't have to be a Brethren; Meetings: At Meetings the members talk about anything they want. Here members who have died are mourned. Great things that they've done are talked about. Business is done.; Service: Services must be lead by a Brethren. This is Church. At Hulls worshipers hope to receive Kyoimara's blessing and hear the Goddess speak.

Kyoimara's White Light Opposite is Naokar the God of the Waters. Noakar's symbol is a pool of light-blue/white water with ripples represent the calm of water and it's moving. Their priests and priestesses are called either 'Lord Father/Mother' or 'Naikan' (Neh-kan). They wear white robes with light blue stitching and trim around the neck. They also wear white rope belts and Amulets of Naokar (No magic).Worshipers wear white shirts and pants or robes and a light blue vest. They also don't wear a belt.
Naokar's followers are usually navy, merchants (honest), anyone whose business is in the water (river, pond or ocean). Naokar also has many followers in cities and kingdoms along the ocean and sea. Naokar favors people who use the sea to stop criminals, honest merchants and people who spread his teachings.
Services are organized the same way Kyoimara services are, but all three parts are lead by Naikan.

Divine Gift: Irino has the ability to talk with sea creatures and tell when storms are coming. Talking to them is not the same as controlling them and she can't do it all the time. If she tells a sea creature something the creature could go tell a Naikan about her plans. She can't tell the difference between Kyoimara and Naokar sea creatures yet.

After her Baptism, Irino will receive great power. She will be able to control sea creatures that follow Kyoimara and creatures, like fish, dolphins, sharks, etc that are not smart enough to understand. She will also be able to call storms at sea. She will also be able to breathe underwater.

Personality

Irino is a hyper girl who has many mood change. She will be happy, angry and sad very quick. Her martial arts training helps because she learns discipline. She is patient and nice to children (girls more than boys) and those that are very poor and helpless. She is impatient with adults, except for her Teacher. She is often single minded and will do almost anything to get it

Island:
The island sits closer to the southern island than the north. It is between the first and second land bridge (closer to the first). On it's north and west are rocks that stick out from the water. On the east is a safe passage, but the passage is only wide enough for two large ships to pass at a time because there are many rocks that sit just below the water and the water swirls sometimes and can pulls ships under the water. It's here that the Kingdom also has the chain across the water from the island to the rocks (like the Greeks did) and where their navy is (stopping anyone who doesn't pay the toll).
On the south there are a few rocks and a few swirling water but most of the water is safe.

History

Irino is the daughter of Count Hiro Misaki, the lord of Akita Island and one of the wealthiest men in all the land. The Misaki's have ruled the island for as long as recorded history. Their island controls the safest waters to the continent and they have always required money or supplies to get through safely. To enforce their rules they built a large and powerful navy to stop and sink any boat that goes through their waters and doesn't pay. There are also long chains in the water that they use to stop ships. To get through merchants pay money or part of their supplies. Merchants that are too poor to pay or have too little are either sent back or they convert and are allowed to continue. Merchants that are followers of Naokar also don't have to pay the tax. Also the island has some of the best fish and has a lot of gold and coal.

She has a twin brother Yuudai. Irino and Yuudai look very similar.

Irino and Yuudai birth was both a good thing and bad thing. Her father was excited to have two children, strong and beautiful. But there was unhappiness of some of the people in Hiro's court. Some in his court secretly called her Kyoimara (never in front of the king or her). Part of this was they looked so much alike, even though they were boy and girl. They spied on her and spread rumors about her around the court; she was called evil, dangerous, ambitious, and many other things that are bad for her to be called.
What always confused her was, when she was little she was never ambitious. She liked all the things most girls liked; nature, baby animals, bright colors, there was nothing about her that made her seem evil. She never had any desire to rule. The Grand Vizier tried in vain many times to make that clear to everyone at the Court.
She got the same education as her brother (her father and mother insisted that they do). She spent most of her free-time reading, doing puzzles, playing with her cat and with the girls at the court.
No matter what she did, the rumors continued. Even after father fired three courtiers when he caught them spreading these rumors, they continued. The other girls slowly stopped playing with her and eventually she had almost no friends among girls her age. She began to just do things by herself, like play with animals, read, draw, etc.
Her brother tried to be nice, but the closer her got to her the fewer friends he had. People were convinced that she was Kyoimara. Finally when she was 13, she was allowed to study and live at a chalet on the south of the island. to study there At the chalet she met Daichi who is her martial arts teacher. Daichi is also a Brethren and has been teaching Irino about Kyoimara. At the Chalet she has three friends and 6 other workers who are followers of Kyoimara (11 people).

Legend of Kyoimara and Naokar:
Kyoimara and Naokar were twins that looked very similar. Some couldn't tell the difference between the two except one was girl the other a boy. Naokar is the God of All Waters (rivers, lakes, oceans, ponds, etc) and Kyoimara is Goddess of the Sea. Kyoimara was angry that her brother got so much more than she did. She was also given Storms to soothe her anger. Instead of being glad, she used her new power to damage and destroy ships.
Kyoimara and Naokar fought all the time.

The Legend and Irino
Over 200 years ago, during the Great Wars, King Tatsuya went to a Naikan-Shahm (Oracle Priest) to know the fate of his kingdom. He was told they would survive the wars and become even richer. But, in the future twins would be born a girl and a boy. The girl and boy would fight over who would rule the kingdom. Their hatred would be like Kyoimara and Naokar. King Tatsuya only told a few people, but word spread and over time like most rumors the story has gotten bigger and the ending more awful.
When Irino was born and then her twin Yuudai shortly after the gossip began almost immediately. The gossip grew so big that Irino grew frightened and cried all the time when she was nine. Her mother Lady Aoi paid spies to find out who was spreading the rumors. When they found out she told Hiro, who had them sent to exile and ordered that anyone in his court who spoke ill of the princess would be killed without mercy. The gossip didn't end, it just became harder to find and the stories got more unkind.
