Personality

Hazen is a pure, sweet heart. Once you meet him, you'll probably want to just put him in your pocket and take him everywhere with you. He is quiet and reserved, but when he does speak, it's nothing but the truth, and everything he says has a good reason. More than anything, he loves to have people's trust. He is an easy person to come talk to, because whatever you tell him goes in the vault. Although he seems too innocent to know anything about the world, in fact, he does know what a cruel and cold place it can be, which is why he doesn't give his own trust out to people easily. He is definetely a lover and not a fighter, and will never raise his fist against anyone, even someone who is threatening him. He is loyal to anyone he can call a friend, and will never betray someone he loves.

History

Hazen was born on a hot afternoon in July, the 19th day of July to be exact. His parents originally thought they would have a girl, but were still overjoyed when they realized that they had a baby boy. Hazen was his parents' third attempt at having a child, the other two attempts turning out to be miscarriges. A couple of years after his birth, his parents tried again and succeeded, and had a little girl named Elisamarie, who sadly died a couple of months after she was born due to heart failure. This is when his parents realized that they were gifted with one child, and stopped trying. But tragically, as soon as they found out about their beloved son's sexuality, things between them changed. Surprisingly, Hazen remained the sweet and happy person he is, knowing that his parents did not approve of who he was. This is why he chose to run away as soon as he found out about what they wanted to do to him, and is not looking back.

~Not Too Long Ago~

It was happening again. Not that Hazen wasn't used to the constant yelling and throwing of objects in the living room, the harsh voices and the lack of feeling. His parents' arguing had started over an hour ago, but the heat was not letting off, not like it usually would after thirty minutes. "WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE WE DO?!" his mother was yelling. The question had been asked a thousand times, it was like a record that wouldn't stop playing that same old tune. And after a while, it did get old. "KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO HIM," he heard his dad yell right back. After years of hearing that, Hazen still had no idea what his father had meant. Peeking his head out of his closet where he had been hiding, Hazen frowned, biting his lip. Things had went silent downstairs, the eerie kind of silent that makes you believe something is about to happen.

The next thing he suddenly heard was the thudding of feet walking up the stairs, step by step. "Shit," he muttered, then pulled his head back in the closet and shut the door, closing his eyes. He didn't know how long he sat there before he peeked out again, and looked towards the door. This time, when he looked out, several envelopes sat on the floor, right under the door, lit by the light coming from the hall. Confused, he reluctantly left the safety of his closet, standing up and walking over, despite the lack of lighting in his room. Picking up the envelopes, his heart fell ten feet into the ground.

Shakingly taking out the papers, he felt his blood run cold into his veins, as if all of his circulation suddenly froze. The Unwounding papers. His parents' signature sitting loud and proud at the bottom. He understood the message they were trying to send him. He had been warned. But like most teenagers, of course he had not taken things as seriously as he should have. Everything they had said to him had been an empty threat, until now. Anger began to set in the place where his heart stood, and he crunched up the papers, throwing them to the other side of the room, then watched as they fell on top of his dresser. Before he knew what he was doing, he quickly grabbed his black packpack off his bed, emptying out the contents and stuffing what clothes he needed in there. In the smaller pocket, he stuffed the eighty bucks he had saved up over time. Then came the hardest part: Waiting for his parents to go to sleep.

It could have been hours by the time they finally did so. As soon as he thought it was safe, he snuck out of his room, closing the door as gently as possible, then jogged down the hall, down the stairs, and through the front door without once looking back. Once he was in the night, he suddenly felt free, free of yelling, of their idiotic rules, free of judgement. He began to run.

~Now~

Hazen didn't know why he suddenly thought of the night everything had unraveled itself right in front of him. The image of those demonic envelopes had taken over his mind, and they couldn't seem to get out. Sighing, he tossed another rock into the pond, watching as it skipped three times before finally going under. Looking over at Lucas, he bit his lip anxiously and sighed. Nicer images of when the two had first met began to melt in, and Hazen smiled, not wanting to ruin the silence that took over between them.

***The Unfortunate Past***

Lucas was used to his parents criticism. He had heard it many a times, again and again, as if the words were on recording, and meant to play over and over to remind him of his flaws. "Damn religion," he would always mutter to himself as the words flowed out of his parent's mouth. After the long speeches that he usually canceled out with the music that was constantly blasting through his earphones, he would go to his room, and sit, dreaming of the day he would turn eighteen, and finally get away from his parents, and their damned beliefs. Too bad that day would never come.

He walked into his bedroom as he usually would, to find a pink slip laying on his bed, folded with his name on top. The first thought that came to his mind were that pink slips were never good. For once, he hadn't exaggerated enough. He laid his iPod to the side, as he picked up the sheet, opening it. His stomach dropped. His breathing slowed, his heart pounded in his chest. He had heard about this sort of thing from his mother, being unwound. His mother had always talked about how in order to bless your entire family, and their money, you must give something in return; in my family, this would be the eldest son. It had always lingered in the back of his mind, but his own parents? No way they could ever give up their own son just to they would prosper. He thought of all of this as he sat there reading the letter over and over, before seeing the approval to his death, basically, at the bottom. Signed by both parents in the most formal of fashions. He despised them. Even hated them. How could they ever do something so cruel, to their OWN son?!

These thoughts, along with the adrenaline pumping through his veins caused him to do the only thing he could think of; get away. Things after that had turned to a blur. All he could remember was racing through the city, a brown bag over his shoulder, with nothing but a few pairs of clothes, and the 95 dollars he'd been planning to use for his first tattoo when he saw the park, and eventually, Hazen.

***The Hopeful Present***

He could still remember the way his heart dropped when he saw Hazen. Sweet, beautiful, much to innocent Hazen. Not that his innocence bothered him, he was just all too surprised to find out that such a perfect being would ever be a 'candidate' if you will, of being unwound. He gazed over at him, as he watched rocks glide across the water again and again, the sickness in his stomach from his parent's words slowing disappearing, leaving only the thought of one person; Hazen.

After throwing a total of thirteen rocks into the pond, the images of those envelopes fully evaporated from Hazen's mind. But thinking about it then, he realized his whole flashback had been in black and white, the only colors visible being the pink, blue, and white slips. It was always like that, every other color had been sucked out of his life. Gazing once more at Lucas, he smiled. Not every color.

He stood up, then slung his bag over his shoulder, looking down at Lucas. "Where exactly do we go now...?" he asked in his soft voice, a frown taking over his lips. Night time was always the worst for him, as backwards as that was. They had less of a chance of being recognized in the night. The darkness could shield them from anything. Yet the night also brought time for nightmares: the horrible images of getting caught and dragged into God knows what room to be cut open by God knows what people. He cringed at the thought, wanting to start walking.

Luke

Luke watched as each rock that Hazen threw went in a different direction, as if each one represented his own self, being ripped apart piece by piece. The thought of that sent chills down his spine. Ever since reading that paper, that damned paper, everything he had seen; everything he had read, reminded him, that he too, could be just another body. Another unwinded body. He would no longer be Lucas Alexander Whitley. But maybe a Seth? Or an Andrew.

This brought a frown to his face. He was taken out of this horrible thought by the one thing that could always bring a smile on his face. Hazen. He had stood up while Luke had zoned out, and was now speaking to him in that soft, angelic voice that melted his heart. "Where exactly do we go now...?"

Luke stood up as well, then looked around, examining there surroundings. The darkness had taken over quickly. Much like the rest of his life. Well, not everything in his life was filled with pain. He suddenly gazed down at Hazen, noticing the slight frown on his face. He brought his hand up to Hazen's face, gripping it gently with his right hand, then a smile swept over his face. He had never been the most optimistic person, but he couldn't show his fear in front of Hazen; that wouldn't help the situation. He had to be strong. "We'll find something," he assured him.

Hazen felt Lucas's hand grasp his face gently and he blushed, biting at his lip much like a young child would. He somehow always managed to get that reaction out of him, that feeling of shyness. If these were normal circumstances, he could have had more time to dwell on those feelings. He would have been able to revel in the thought of being in a relationship, of having someone there with him. Sadly, these were not those times.

Maybe if they both made it to eighteen years old, then they would have time to fully enjoy each other's company without worrying where their next destination would be. Taking Lucas's hand and intertwining his fingers through his lover's, he began walking at a steady pace, ignoring the crying of birds in trees or any movements in the bushes. Remember, the night makes everything ten times worse.

Once they reached the end of the park and the beginning of the sidewalk leading down the road, he stopped. There were no audible signs of life as far as he could hear, the world seemed to have stopped revolving. Looking up at Lucas, he frowned. "It's too damned quiet out here. Why is it quiet out here." He knew his paranoia was probably getting the best of him, and that it would be easier to just be quiet, but he couldn't.

Luke

Lucas could tell how easily he could intimidate Hazen. He doubted Hazen realized this, and hoped he never would. Lucas loved how easily he could bring the fire running to his cheeks as it was doing now. He smiled at him. It was an instant reaction; one that he wasn't used too. One that in other circumstances, he may have tried to get away from. But Hazen was his. And that wasn't changing anytime soon. Unless...

As these thoughts ran through his mind, he looked down to see his lover frowning. "It's too damned quiet out here. Why is it quiet out here." This guy.. You could tell him aliens were coming to attack, and if you really dragged it out, he would believe it. Nonetheless, Lucas knew how Hazen felt about the dark. Although it was never said, he could sense his partner's anxiety, like it was creeping from Hazen's body, and into his own. Lucas himself, enjoyed the night. To help ease his anxiety, Lucas squeezed his hand and looked down at him. "You're letting the darkness get the best of you. Were going to find somewhere to sleep for the night, and we'll figure out our next move in the morning. It will be fine, I promise you."

Promises was not something he made a lot. But he couldn't watch his one and only stand there in complete despair. When he did promise something, he stuck to it. They would make it through tonight..wouldn't they? He led Hazen down the pathway and into the town, being sure to keep a look out for any cops, or signs that would signal their disappearance. The last thing they needed was publicity. How hard would it be to find two kids, rather men, walking around town with nothing but a bag on there backs?

Hazen chewed at his lip anxiously as Lucas promised him that everything would be alright. How do you KNOW this, though?! How can you be sure?! The questions spun round and round in his mind, almost expecting an answer. But he knew better than to question Lucas, all that did was lead to more questions, and a tense environment. Looking up at the sky now, Hazen didn't spot any stars. No little twinkling lights to illuminate the darkness. He usually didn't believe in signs, but for some reason this was screaming 'NO HOPE'.

"Something just doesn't feel right, Lucas. I know I'm usually paranoid, but still," he mused, then followed Lucas down the pathway, turning his head to look back every so often, just to make sure no one was following them. It was better to be safe than sorry, after all. The questions in his head now were centered around where the hell they would be sleeping for the night. They usually always managed to find somewhere, but every night brought a new challenge.

Luke

"Something just doesn't feel right, Lucas. I know I'm usually paranoid, but still," he heard Hazen muse in his most paranoid of voices. As much as Lucas wanted to pretend like everything would be alright, he knew the chances of them making it to eighteen were slim; and that those chances were about to become a lot less likely as soon as their parents started looking for them.

Instead of trying to further comfort Hazen into believing things would be fine, he squeezed his hand tightly and continued walking into the darkness. They had to get out of the main streets. They were guaranteed to be caught walking these streets out after curfew if they stayed here. But where would they go? Where would they sleep? All of these thoughts ran through his mind as they walked in silence.

The sound of thunder broke the silence before Lucas could. "Fuck," he muttered before looking down at Hazen. "We have to get somewhere, and quick." Things are about to get a hell of a lot worse, he thought, as they passed by a line of townhouses. Why couldn't his own life be that simple? Why couldn't HE live in one of those comforting houses. I'd give anything for us to be anywhere but here right now, he thought to himself as he looked for any available shelter.

Hazen shook his head at Lucas's lack of an answer, his black bangs swooping in his face. He wasn't angry that he didn't recieve an answer, more scared. Lucas had always been the one to assure Hazen that everything was okay, even in times of severe crisis. It's fine, we're gonna make it, everything's okay, the answer to every question was something along those lines. Thinking about it now, he laughed to himself, a cold, emotionless laugh. Lucas had never been an optimistic thinker, and he knew that he wasn't going to start now, despite the madness. It was all about making sure Hazen's mind was at ease. Hazen can't handle the real world because Hazen is naive, Hazen doesn't know how to deal with bad situations.

Of course Lucas had never said that, but that's how Hazen saw himself, his way of life. As they kept walking, Hazen decided to take a left, down an alley illuminated by the finite amount of city lights. Still, no signs of life were present, but that didn't mean that they were safe. For all he knew the cops could be minutes from discovering them. Which brought him to his next question. "Luke...how long do you think it will take them. Take them to call the damn cops and have them looking for our scrawny asses. And be realistic," he sighed, turning to face Luke, looking up into his eyes. "My parents see me as nothing but a nuisance, but that won't stop them from getting people to look.

Luke

Lucas watched as Hazen shook his head. He could feel the build-up of tension between the two. It had been building since they had first met. So many things were going on around them, how could there NOT be tension? Lucas followed as Hazen turned down an alley. It wasn't dark, like most. It was illuminated by the city lights. It was empty. But, that thought of someone following them ran through Lucas's mind again and again as he scooted closer to Hazen's side. He was good at pretending to be brave; but when it came down to it, he was just as scared as Hazen. He realized that at any moment their lives could be turned upside down, literally. He frowned even at the thought.

"Luke...how long do you think it will take them. Take them to call the damn cops and have them looking for our scrawny asses. And be realistic," Hazen asked as he stopped and looked up into Lucas's eyes. "My parents see me as nothing but a nuisance, but that won't stop them from getting people to look." He knew either way he couldn't lie to him, yet the truth? He couldn't imagine. He shrugged and looked down at Hazen, and into his much too terrified eyes. "Minutes, hours, days. We both know it could happen at any time, Hazen." He could feel his heart dropping into his stomach. The thought of being split apart from Hazen hurt him more than any amount of unwinding could. "We can do this. We can make it to eighteen." He tugged on Hazen's pinky. "We have no other choice." He looked around. This place wasn't so bad. They could probably find a place to sleep here. "But for now," he sighed and brought his gaze back to Hazen, "We have to get some sort sleep." Sleep these days, was more like being numb. Sleep had always been a place where he could run from his problems. Now, it seemed as if sleep only brought his problems chasing him.

Sinking down on the ground against some building, Hazen crossed his arms over his chest and looked out at nothing, no expression on his pale face. This would be his stop for the night, there was no reason to keep wondering the streets like a bunch of hobos and risk getting caught even more. He then heard Lucas speak of making it to eighteen, but his voice seemed to be a thousand miles away.

Thinking of it, he wondered, What the hell do we do when we turn eighteen, exactly? We're still gonna on the side of the road. Except we're not gonna have to worry about getting found by the cops. Big difference. He knew that he was being extremely pessimistic, but quite honestly, he didn't care. At first when they ran away, Hazen thought of this as one of those big parties. It was fun and all, but the risk of getting busted by the cops was still there, although no one cared. Now it felt more like a robbery gone wrong, and the pressure of being caught by the cops wasn't fun and games anymore.

The sound of a siren in the distance broke his train of thought, and he looked up at Lucas. "Shit, he whispered, then brought his knees to his chest.

Luke

He realized that no matter what he said, it wasn't going to improve the situation. He just felt the need to speak, as if that would make it any better. Maybe it would get things off of our minds.. maybe wishing and hoping would make a difference. As he thought up all of these absurd accusations, he realized he was beginning to lose his mind. He had never been one to HOPE for things, or WISH upon a star.. all of that was bullshit to him. Nothing would come of it. Unless you can see it, it isn't real. That had been his motto for so damn long, the thought of thinking anyway else had never crossed his mind.

He looked down and sighed, then joined Hazen's side. He knew this was the best place for them for the night, but that didn't make it any more comforting. At any moment, a number of things could occur. He hadn't had a good night's rest since the turn of events; and he didn't see tonight being any differently. He looked at Hazen, his expression impossible to read. If things didn't improve, he knew they too, at any time, could turn against each other. They hardly spoke, but what was there to say? The hope he had once had, was now gone. The only thing they could do was try to make it day by day..but what happened when something went wrong..? He lay his head on Hazen's shoulder, closing his eyes and biting his lip in thought.

He was brought out of this by the same thing he assumed Hazen had heard. He shot upright. He could see Hazen looking up at him, and he realized they were both hearing the same thing. A Siren. He turned a ghostly pale color, before pulling himself up, along with Hazen. He knew the sound was distant, but that didn't mean much. Adrenaline kicking in, he led Hazen farther and farther into the alley, the lights from the city becoming more and more distant. He figured if someone had spotted the two walking and called, they would have no chance. But, the last bit of hope in him made him think otherwise. There was a large dumpster ahead. It was poorly lit, so they wouldn't spot them. He slid down against the wall on the side of the dumpster, and pulled Hazen down close to him. Then waited for what could be the end of BOTH of them...

Straining his hearing so he could hear the siren, Hazen sat up in the same position for what could have been several minutes. He wasn't sure which direction it took because at that moment, he felt Lucas pulling him to his feet and dragging him farther down the alley, into the darkness. "WHAT are you doing," he whispered to him loudly, although there probably was no reason for the lack of sound. They were certainly alone in the alley. Following him to what he supposed was the dumpster ahead, he watched as Lucas sat down and pulled him down with him.

Frowning and pulling away from his grip, he looked down at him, then slung his bag off his shoulder and dropped it on the ground with a thud. "I am not sitting next to a dumpster all night. Stay right there," he said, then went back the way they came, towards the opening of the alley. This was probably the most idiotic thing to do, but for some reason, he didn't feel scared of stepping out of his comfort zone for once, at least not that night.

Peeking his head out around the corner, he glanced both ways up and down the street. As he suspected, it was empty. The sound of the siren had faded, leaving the quiet again. Looking back towards Lucas. he exhaled, then walked back to him slowly, sitting in front of him. "Coast is clear. At least for now." Looking at the dumpster, he made a face. A multitude of vile words were spray painted on the side, along with all sorts of demented symbols. That's what passed for entertainment these days, checking dumpsters for artistic creations.

"What in the hell are you doing?!" Luke whispered loudly as he watched his one and only heading straight for the front of the alley. Sure, his choice would never have been to be sitting by a dumpster, but shit happened. He bit his lip, looking toward Hazen. All of these thoughts ran through his mind of how they would be found, which part of his body would be unwinded first. Would they leave him awake to feel the pain since he tried to run. He had no idea; and apparently, neither did anyone else. He felt sick. He wasn't sure if it was from the foul smells seeping through the heavily spray painted dumpster, or the even more demented thoughts running through his mind.

He sighed with relief as Hazen came back. He was letting him know that the coast was clear. He could feel the knot in his stomach untangling itself, but he knew he would never lose that feeling until they were no longer being chased, and THEN what would happen.... The future was so unclear.

When he saw Hazen's face, an emotionless smile of amusement came across him. He followed his gaze, and realized his was reading the demented, vile words spray painted in a variety of colors on the front, and sides of the dumpster. He stood up, grabbing Hazen's bag and handed it to him. "Sorry..I just, panicked." He shrugged and made his way back up towards the front end of the alley, sliding down against the wall, and covering himself in the oversized jacket he had packed with him. He closed his eyes, though he knew no sleep would come.

Slinging his bag over his back once more, Hazen stood up and shoved his hands in his jean pockets, kicking at pebbles on the ground in a bored fashion. As he watched Lucas walk back up the alley, he once again looked at the dumpster and it's multitude of writings. Checking the smaller pocket on his bag, he quickly found what he was looking for: the black sharpie he recently remembered he had. Leaning down and scanning the dumpster for a place to write, he quickly took the cap off and began scribiling in his cursive font.

'Whatever happens, never give up.'

He knew that now if he ever did give up, it would make him look like the biggest hypocrite ever. For a second he wondered how many other people were in this situation, running away from their futures. How many were caught yesterday, today, will be caught tomorrow? Were they couples or where they alone? How old were they? He chose to stop there, knowing that he could ask so many more questions, but none of which would have an answer. Looking back at Lucas, Hazen pouted, then walked over to him and sat next to him, taking his hand. He leaned over and kissed his cheek sweetly, then looked out at nothing until he felt his eyelids get heavy.

Luke felt Hazen's lips touch his cheek as he took his hand and sat next to him. This made him smile. No matter how bad things were, they knew they had each other. Always and forever,

He wrapped his arm around Hazen, then unzipped the oversized jacket and laid it across the both of them, then rested his head into the crook of Hazen's neck. Aside from being in a dirty alley, this felt nice. Almost perfect. As darkness finally took over his thought process, Lucas cleared his mind and slept until morning. The best sleep he had gotten in some time.

He awoke the next morning, half freezing. He yawned a bit, then looked over at Hazen, biting his lip. He knew the sun would be rising soon, and they didn't need to be asleep when it did. He leaned over, resting his lips upon Hazen's briefly, before standing up. He looked around for awhile, then had an idea. He sat against the wall, waiting for Hazen to wake up, not wanting to wake him from what little sleep he was getting. He knew he needed it.

The last thing Hazen remembered is Lucas wrapping his arms around him and feeling warm against his lover. From there, he fell into a deep sleep, something he hasn't recieved in a long time. The dreams that followed were nothing short of horrifying. In the first one, he was discovered by his parents and dragged to the Unwinding place. In the second one, he woke up in the Unwinding place. The ones after that were simply just bits and pieces that he couldn't connect together, but he was glad, he didn't want to know what other images his mind could come up with.

By the time he woke up the next morning, he kept his eyes closed, wishing he could be asleep for just a minute longer. He wasn't up for dealing with the stresses of the new day, the anxiety and the fear.Thinking about Lucas then, his heart squeezed. He knew he had to get up, they had to keep moving. Opening his eyes gently and looking around, he got up and stretched his arms, then looked over at his lover, who was sitting against the wall. "What the hell time is it...?" he asked sleepily.

Luke

As Lucas sat there, he thought about everything. He had never been a poster child, he would agree with that, but he had never been all that bad, either. He just couldn't wrap his head around the situation. Being unwinded. The thought sent chills down his back.

He heard some stirring from his lover who lay absent from the coucious world. He opened his eyes. This made his heart squeeze. The feelings that lay between the two of them were undeniably the strongest feeling's he'd ever had for a person. Thinking about this, he barely heard Hazen's sleepy sounding voice when he had asked about the time. He looked up, laying his eyes on Hazen's briefly. His warm, green eyes. That look, could win over a million hearts. Lucas smiled, being unable to stop himself.

"A little after 6:30. The sun isn't up, but it will be before long." With that, he stood up, and went over to Hazen, sitting down next to him. He pulled him into his arms, holding him there tightly, laying a hand on the back of his neck. Feeling like he could stay right there, for an eternity, he forced himself to speak. "I have an idea.." was all he said to his lover, which was in itself, barely over a whisper.

Looking up at Lucas after he spoke, Hazen's eyed widened, and he shook his head, causing his hair to fall in his face. "Oh, God. What is this idea of yours...?" he asked, not sure if he wanted to know the answer or not. Hugging Lucas close to him, he stared off at nothing, then looked back at the dumpster which they had sat next to the previous night. Was there more trash or was he just imagining things?

Sighing, he reluctantly pulled away from Lucas and pulled him to his feet, then looked up at him. "Whatever it is, I hope it's good, because we don't have a lot of time before the sun comes up, babe."

Luke

Lucas could feel Hazen's arms tightening around him. He acted like he was surprised that Lucas had an idea. I'll show him, he thought to himself. "Of course I do. And it is a damn good one, if I do say so myself."

He stood up, shaking the bits of dirt that had fallen on him. "Okay, so here it is. IMAGINE THIS," he stood next to Hazen and held up his arms in a dramatic manor, then looked up into the sky to give the full effect. "Here's what we do; we take all of the stuff out of that dumpster, and distribute it around to all of the other dumpsters around here. THEN, get this, we buy some Lysol with the money we have left, and spray it in there. It can be used as a shelter of sorts." He smiled to himself, almost with pride at the absurd idea he had come up with, honestly believing in himself and his idea.

Picking up Luke's jacket and folding it neatly, Hazen held it in his arms as he looked up at Luke, then gave him a face when he looked up at the sky in his dramatic way. Hazen tried not to laugh, he knew that everytime Luke did this, he was being completely serious about his idea. As he listened, he couldn't help but bust out laughing, and had to take a couple of moments to compose himself before looking back up at his lover. "Okay...do you realize how much Lysol we're going to need?! And hand sanitizer from touching the shit in that dumpster!"

Thinking over it, he realized that it might not be such a bad plan, after all. But what happens when someone came out to dump their trash? Cringing at the thought, he reached down in his bag, taking out the seventy bucks he had left. They also needed to buy more water, not to mention food. Once again slinging his bag over his shoulder, Hazen looked towards the dumpster. The cardboard boxes would be easy to carry, but how about the other trash inside? How much was there?

Luke

He rolled his eyes as his lover laughed at his idea. "Got any better ones?" He smirked slightly, then wrapped his arms around Hazen's small waist. He was hungry. He knew Hazen had to be. He bit his lip. "Yeah, we'll need a lot. Including food..and water." He looked at the dumpster. It could be cozy..maybe. It just needed some work. That's all.

He took the jacket in Hazen's arms, then stuffed it into his bag. "We need to see how much shit is in this thing," he exclaimed as he walked towards the dumpster. Beer boxes, cardboard, junk, all piled high. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned out for months. He shuddered at the thought of what could be below those boxes, but chose to brush the thought aside. They had to do what they had to do, and right now, this was their best hope.

Walking over to analyze what had to be done, Hazen stood on his tip toes and peered inside, only to find the same items that were sitting outside the dumpster. Boxes, a plastic bag full of empty soda cans, and even a litter box. "Oh my fucking God," he said outloud, then tired not to gag at the thought of having to touch it. Looking back towards Luke, he gestured for him to come stand next to him. "What if there are dead animals in there?" he asked, then kicked some boxes out of his way to get a better look into their future hide out. The smell of kitty litter invaded the air, but he figured it was better than other things that could be down at the bottom.

"We better start, we don't have much damn time," he sighed. "Where the hell do we locate other dumpsters? We have to go look first so we don't just walk around with trash."

Luke

Luke walked over to Hazen, as he gestured for him to do so. As he spoke of dead animals, Luke brushed him off. "Oh, no worries there..." The tone in his voice proved that he didn't believe that anymore before or after the words had flowed out of his mouth.

Lucas looked up and down the alley, then layed his eyes on his lover. "We should go get some sort of food. I'm starving, and I can't work on an empty stomach." Though the thought of eating as he stood next to a dumspter made it seem less appealing more and more. "On the way we can scout out for dumpsters." He took Hazen's hand, squeezing it tightly. "You're right. We better start now."
