A brightly burning sun cast its warm rays across the glade. Large trees encircled this small clearing, with great big leaves casting their shadows across the grass and flowers covering the ground. Said flowers were a dark purple, and emitted a lovely scent through the glade. All in all, a more wondrous natural location would be hard to find. Small insects crawl along one fallen tree near the edge of the clearing, industrially collecting small sections of wood to take to their home. A small bird, with muted green feathers watches this worker line with its head cocked, bright eyes flickering, when in a flash it snatches up one in its beak and flies off to consume its prey. Simultaneously, a medium sized cat like creature, with splotches of amber across its green fur, lazes along a tree limb overlooking the clearing. In the very center of the clearing sits a great stone, about eight feet tall, with runes covering it. A large purple crystal was embedded in the top.

CRACK

A sound like a tree shattering from the blast of a bolt of lightning shakes the clearing, as seven beams of energy shot from the crystal, hitting different sections of the ground, blasting small chunks of ground away and depositing a sleeping human in each of these craters. Each reposed in a different position, sleeping, acting like they were in their beds and not having just been thrown to the ground.

Ceiran stumbled home from the bar, trying to avoid eye contact with passersby on the dark streets of downtown New York. Rain was pouring down from the heavens, seeming to only have started merely moments ago, as he downed his last drink. As others scurried along the streets, desperate to find shelter, Ceiran continued at a steady pace, too drunk to care about 'a little splash of water'.

He eventually made it to his apartment: a one-bedroom in a run-down block, avoided by anyone with the resources to, but it was homely enough for him - he didn't receive many visitors any more anyway... The rain continued to pelt the window, but he couldn't hear it over the ringing in his ears - the music in the bar had been pretty loud, which was something he preferred.

The TV was still on, displaying a news broadcast reporting a couple of freak weather incidents across the US, but nothing that really stuck in Ceiran's mind as he walked into the bedroom. He took off his jacket, throwing it at a wooden chair, where it hopelessly flops to the ground, before noticing his tshirt was soaked through. Removing it, he threw it at a basket in the corner of the room, falling just a couple feet short.

Tumbling on to the bed, he rolled on to his back, and pulled the mobile phone out of his pocket.

3 MISSED CALLS...
Anna 8:09pm
Anna 8:55pm
Anna 10:01pm

YOU HAVE 1 NEW MESSAGE
FROM Anna
"I didn't mean to hurt you. I just want us both to be happy.
You need to sort your life out, Kieran.
We can't work together until you do. x"

Ceiran squeezed the phone between his fingers, his hands trembling a little, before launching the phone at the door, where it impacted with a loud thump. Bits of plastic flew away from the door, as the phone broke up into pieces, scattering across the thin carpet. Sobbing, he rested his head back down, to the sounds of distant thunder.

"You don't want me to be happy... You're ashamed of me... just like everyone else..." He rolled over on to his side, curling up a little. "Sort my life out... how? I fucked up. 4 years wasted... If there is a god, please... just end me..."

He closed his eyes, and soon found himself slipping away into the abyss. His dreams were hardly works of art, nor were they memorable, but they were an escape, of sorts. He felt his consciousness leaving the dingy apartment, travelling through an open field. The long grass whipping away beneath outstretched hands as he flies through. The tranquil horizon gives way to swathes of trees, and he heads into the forest, picking up speed as he soars. Darting between the trunks and branches, he eventually comes to what looks like an empty clearing, but as he is distracted, he realises too late that he on track to collide with a tree. He faceplants the tree with thud. All goes black.

He awakes, a short time after the dream has passed. He feels no pain, but is still somewhat tipsy. The grass feels cool against his arms as he stretches out.

The grass...

He jolts upright, looking around to see a number of people in sleepwear wandering around nearby, and a few more lying in the grass like him.

"The fuck?..."

Abigail stared up at the ceiling of her bedroom, lit only by 3 small tealights on a bedside table. Downstairs, she could hear raised voices, speaking incoherently - her parents were having another argument. The fights had become more frequent, and she had grown at first worried for them, but now, Abigail was weary of these constant bouts.

She closed her eyes, thinking back to when she was just a small child. They would go camping down by Castlewood Canyon. Abigail remembered one time, her parents gave her a map and compass, and gave her a location to find on her own; a clearing in the forest where they had set up a surprise for her. She had walked for hours, trying to find it, unaware that her father was trailing her to make sure she didn't get completely lost.

Eventually she found it, and from the edge of the tree-line she could see smoke coming from the center. A couple of tents were set up, and she could see her mother standing near a barbecue grill. Some balloons were tied to the tents, of differing colors - it was her birthday, after all.

As she walked towards the tents, she heard a familiar voice behind her. "Abbie, sweetie." It was her father's voice... She turned around expecting to see him emerge from the trees, as he had done all those years ago, but what she saw filled her with dread.

Behind her, stood a great, black bear. It was slowly advancing towards her, yellowed teeth bared. It spoke again. "I'm so proud of you." The voice sounded a little different, more beast-like. "Maybe next year, we can go hunting!"

Abigail turned on her heels and took off in a sprint towards the tents, bounding over tufts of long grass, as the earth shook behind her. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw the bear gaining on her, but as she arrived at the tents, she felt her heart sink. They were gone. The tents, the barbecue, her mother... gone. Abigail tumbled to the ground in a lapse of concentration. The bear stopped chasing, growling at her, and resumed it's slow approach.

"Happy birthday, sweetie." The bear launches itself at her, and Abigail screams, before being smothered by its shadow.
Her scream continued as she awoke, heart pounding away in her chest. She clawed at the grass around her, before looking up to see a blue sky above. I'm outside? She could feel the grass beneath her feet, and between her fingers.
"I'm asleep. I'm still asleep. I have to be..."

Freya Murphy

Walking through her apartment door at the end of a long day was one of Freya Murphy’s favorite feelings in the world, second only to the feeling of taking off the demon contraption known as a bra. With all the energy and grace of the walking dead, she made her way to her bedroom, a trail of heels and clothes behind her. Once out of her coffee stained garb, she put on her much more comfortable paint stained pajamas and giant fluffy robe to keep the chill away. She let out a muffled sigh, making a mental note to buy more clothes.

It seemed everything she owned from T-shirt to socks had a stain on it from at least ONE of her jobs, the curse of being an artist. Still, buying more clothes wasn’t really an option on her budget. She couldn’t even make rent this month and her parents wouldn’t let her move back in unless she went back to school...and art school didn’t count according to them.

Despite the stress, she didn’t mind. At least she didn’t hate her jobs, as much work and time as they all required. She took comfort knowing that she wasn’t the only 20 year old in Los Angeles living this way, it almost seemed like a rite of passage for some.

Making her way to her modest kitchen, she made herself a cup of tea and checked the time. It was late, the coffee shop she worked at had thrown an event for local artist. Of course, Freya had volunteered to work it. She knew many of the artist around town and had had a good time, but she was exhausted. Just the night before she had stayed up all night filling orders for her online store. Her stomach grumbled and she debated whether or not she had the energy to make food. After a few minutes of procrastination, she made herself a hot pocket and drank her tea.

She had a couple more orders to finish up, small and simple pieces of jewelry, but tomorrow was another day and she'd have more time then. Freya made her way back to her bedroom, finding Mumbles - a very fat, gray cat that's missing part of his right ear - passed out on her pillow.

"Really? You have your own bed." Freya said with an eye roll.

Mumbles opened one eye and made a disgruntled grunt, refusing to move. It wasn't the first time he had stolen her pillow, he was a bit infamous for it, and Freya was an infamous pushover. She maneuvered around the large gray mass and once she found a comfortable position, she immediately drifted off to sleep.

~*~*~*~

"The fuck?..."
"I'm asleep. I'm still asleep. I have to be..."

Freya heard the words in the distance, was she dreaming? Who was talking? Maybe it was the neighbors. She reached out for her phone, meaning to check the time. Expecting the cool metallic feeling of her phone and the softness of her sheets, she instead grabbed at a handful of grass. It took a while for her mind to process that it wasn't right. It's not like she just had a nice patch of grass for Mumbles to utilize in her bedroom.

"What in the world...?" She slowly sat up, wiping the sleep from her face. When she finally had a moment to process, her eyes widened. There were other people there, some asleep...some awake and looking just as confused. "What the hell? Where am I?" She wasn't sure who she was directing the question to, but she was hoping one of them knew.

And she hoped they weren't serial killers and kidnappers.

Madison rarely dreamed, but when she did, it was always different. This time she dreamt of running through a dark tunnel towards a light. She never seemed to be moving that much though. Stopping, she looked around into the darkness around her. Deciding to take a different route, she goes in the opposite direction of the light. Suddenly she bursts through the dark and finds herself falling towards the ground. Before she can scream, she wakes up.

Madison instantly sits up, gasping for breath. Her heart pounding in her chest. It takes her a few minutes to get her bearings. When she does, her eyes widen in shock. Was she still dreaming? She must be because for one thing, she definitely went to sleep in her bed. And she lived in the middle of a city, not a forest. Also, southern Texas did not have trees like this. However, if this was a dream, than how come her sense of touch, hearing, and smell were working? She could feel grass underneath her feet, smell the flowers in the area, and hear the wind wrestling through the trees.

Deciding to test it, she smacks herself on the head.

"Ow!"

Okay that definitely hurt. This was no dream, but one twisted joke. Instead of panic, she could feel her anger build. Before her feelings could boil over, she put a lid on them. It was at that moment that she noticed the others. She didn't recognize any of them. Shaking her head, she didn't know what to do next.

Alexander's dreams tended to be disjointed messes of color, sound, and emotion. Thus to have a linear flowing dream was an oddity in of itself. In the dream he walked along a dark path, with streamers of light and sound guiding the way. Far away voices whispered to him, but he could not understand them, as if they were far away. However, like all dreams must, it was time to end and wake up.

He felt the sun beating down on his eyes with grass tickling his legs and arms. His eyes snapped open in realization that he wasn't home. He looked left and right, absorbing what he could see. He saw three women and a man who looked as confused as he was moving in a state of confusion. He stood up muttering "Where the absolute FUCK am I?" Then his gaze fell upon a large stone column or pillar, planted firmly in a slight hummock within the larger clearing. He felt drawn to it, standing to his full height, and took a step towards it. No, figure out what's going on, then satisfy curiosity He thought to himself as he considered heading straight for the pillar. He called out to the others who were awake "Hey! Are y'all alright? Any ideas where the Hell we are?" his strident voice with a bit of Tennessean accent laced through it ringing through the still air.

Feeling a sudden burst of worry, he moved to the nearest sleeping form and began checking pulse and breathing.

Victoria had slept soundlessly. She didn't even dream...or at least didn't remember dreaming. Her eyes where still closed but she was starting to wake. She felt a breeze upon her and her nose was flooded with the smell of wild flowers and grass. She felt the sunlight hot upon her skin it blinding her as her sleepy eyes slowly opened.
She must have left her window open she thought as she went to pull the covers off... There where no covers! Suddenly wide awake she quickly took in what was around her. A grassy field...some stone pillar...and a group of random people like her just having awoken. She suddenly wished for the knife she kept hidden under her bed...but alas it didn't come with her.
Victoria pulled herself to her feet. "What the hell is going on?" She asked aloud. An open question to anyone. Her eyes watched everyone she was ready to try and defend herself should she need to.

Lola Young

Thick fog grew around her ankles slowly, but she wasn’t quite alarmed yet. It had a feel, a cool tingle as if made of a million bits of snowflakes that collided with her shins, and it looked like a slow and pensive pool of milk, peacefully volatile and running into itself and the things around it. This fog covered the ground entirely while shifting and changing, thick enough where Lola was unable to see the bottom, and it extended as far as she could make out, which was not far. She was in a forest, she gathered that much, but it was dark, black permanence and void were the walls and ceilings. Her vision ended into complete darkness after only a short distance; she could only see in a short ring around her as if a dim and pale spotlight centered on her, sourcless and formless. The only visible things were the trees that peppered the area around her.

The trees were thin and long, jutting up and out of the low fog and plunging up into the darkness above, out of view, and it was if they were coming in and out of existence. They were branchless, but they twisted and bent, slightly, as if they were flowing in a direction. The only things were the fog, the sparse and thin trees, and the black of shadow.

She was confused at first, not sure where she was or how she arrived, but after a quick turn of the head she immediately noticed something. There was, in the cold distance, a small and warm light that pierced the darkness with rays for arms that stretched to meet her vision, and she instinctively moved towards it. As she walked, her feet stomped to hit a soft ground that ever so slightly gave in, small depressions, to each of her footsteps, even as light as they were naturally from her small size, and the muted crunch of wet but dead leaves accompanied the atmosphere. As she approached, the source of light came into view.

One of the trees was cut in half, about up to her waist, with jagged edges on the side to sign that it was not a clean cut, and laid on the center of the stump was a small fish tank, one of the classic bowls. Its size was moderate, it was just a glass bowl, and on the bottom were colored rocks with a single fake, sunken Roman column that you would find at any pet store. The light was bright and yellow but also sourceless, not unlike the dim spotlight, and seemed to be originating from inside the fish tank with no actual light to be seen as the cause. Inside was a single golden goldfish that swam in a small circle.

Lola gave out a short, frightened gasp as when it turned it looked back at her, meeting her gaze, with human like eyes inside fishlike eyelids, and it seemed to notice her shock. The goldfish them smiled, somehow, unnaturally, and an array of human teeth, white and shining, showed through the menacing grin.

“Welcome back,” it spoke in a low and rolling voice, bubbling with a deep tone.

“Thank you,” Lola replied, monotone. She whipped her hand and brought it to her mouth. Her stomach dropped and she realized the response was habit. She wanted to cry.

“You know you can’t stay long,” it said again in the same voice, this time with a bit of a chuckle infused into the last words, amused.

She didn’t want it to be amused.

“Farewell,” she lastly replied, again with no emotion as to indicate just how many times this has happened. She couldn’t remember these past events that formed this, but her core told her she didn’t want to.

She flailed, coming up in a sweat, but despite that she made little noise, and she found herself sitting up, awake. She rubbed her shoulder, it was tense which indicated she must have fallen asleep reading again at her desk, common after a long night of work, and she went to get out of her chair when it donned on her that she was previously prone and that her outstretched fingers were interwoven in thick and unkempt grass.

Immediately, with light and swift motion that was quick but not very accurate, she rose to her feet and took in her surroundings. A clearing. A stone thing. A forest. Some people. Some people were talking, they all seemed confused, and some were more actively confused judging by looks. She backed up to a tree, pressing herself against it while keeping eye contact on the group, that was on the edge of clearing, and she drove her hand into her pocket of her jeans.

It was a long shot that no one searched her after dragging her out of her apartment and into the woods, but she fell asleep without getting dressed for bed so there was a chance it was on her.

She sighed as cold metal touched her fingers.

Only severely panicked, she waited to see how it would unfold for now.

Looked like everyone had finally woke up and were just as confused as Madison was. One seemed to be in complete denial of their predicament. Another was backed up against a tree, shaking like a leaf. Few asked what was happening. Madison would like to know herself for she could feel fear rising within her. Not wanting to let it show though, she allowed another emotion to take over and that was anger. Why in the blazes were they here? What brought them here? And where was here? Many more questions starting popping into her mind.

"I honestly have no idea what is going on." she said a bit bluntly, not bothering to hide the irritation in her voice.

Not wanting to stay still any longer, she stood up slowly, not wanting to rush. She did her best not to feel embarrassed with only wearing her pjs. She wished she had her flip flops though. It wasn't that she wasn't used to walking barefooted, she use to do it all the time in Colorado. However, she didn't know if there are dangerous bugs or insects on the ground. In south Texas, one rarely walked outside barefooted because of how hot the ground got in the city got and out the country ants were everywhere due to the sandy ground being perfect for them. Turning around, Madison finally saw the stone pillar. The blonde couldn't help but gap at it. It was incredible! Being the art lover that she was, Madison could help but come closer and inspect all of the carvings. She didn't recognize any of the words or symbols on it, but it was clearly the work of a master. Memorized, she reached out and placed her hand on it.

The Stone Awakens

The Stone in the clearing was an uncaring spectator to the little knot of confused and scared humanity surrounding it. The crystal at its top seemed to gaze at each of the people, as if to say "I have seen much, known much, and you do not impress me." This did not stop one intrepid person, who either through newfound courage or straight curiosity, touched it. As her hand made contact with the stone she would feel it grow warm to the touch. The stone began to shift underneath her hand, creating a grinding sound that permeated the clearing. A kaledioscope of colorful energies gathered at the base of the stone, and then in the blink of an eye shot up through the woman who had touched it and up towards the crystal. A riot of colors surrounded the pair, human and artifice, flesh and stone, slowly creating a tether between Madison's forehead and the crystal, slowly becoming thicker and thicker until a solid rope of energy seemed to connect the two.

The grinding sound came to a stop as the runes on the stone had finished reconfiguring themselves into a new pattern, in English of all things. A basso voice than sounded, coming from all around the clearing like some Titan of old. Derision and faint amusement intermingled in the being's voice. However that is the only thing that the Awoken could understand, for he spoke in a language of harsh grinding sounds. Well, all except for one. The first of the Awoken, the one brave enough to touch the Prophecy-Stone. When the being had begun to spoke the tether between her and the stone broke, causing a large beam of magic to fly into the sky, as a beacon. She was experiencing the mother of all headaches, yet the Being's harsh words made perfect sense to her, as dark as they were.

"Arsh gal am Tor vashrak? Bah! Sek arsh gontir Orshta! Brasaval, Sidorak, Argush! Sidor am brekah!"

"So this wretched group is what is supposed to be the heroes of the Prophecy? Bah! You will be crushed before you can even hope to comprehend your hopeless situation! Hunter, Killer, Doom Bringer! Kill these fools!"

And with these words the malevolent presence faded away. The once bright forest seemed a little darker, its peacefulness disturbed by the fell words that had just spoken in. The animals of before had scattered, and a few leaves fell from the trees. A few clouds had hidden the sun, causing shadow to fell upon those in the clearing.

Victoria had a sudden bad feeling as she saw one of the other women head towards the stone pillar. She called it her thief's intuition...

Victoria called out "Stop! Don't...." ....too late..."....touch that..."

"Oh..shit..." Victoria muttered as she watched what unfolded before her eyes.

The darkness and grave silence filled the air. Victoria felt her anxiety taking hold of her. She looked to the one that touched the stone. " What is this? What the hell did you do?" She asked her voice was anger mixed with fear.

Victoria was lost, without a weapon, and now stressed and didn't know what to do. She had no control over anything and it was inching her closer and closer to panicking.

"What the hell did you do?!" Victoria asked again yelling it this time.

Lola Young

Every one of the myriad of people were now awake and moving about, and judging from the crowd they all seemed as confused and shaken as her. Were they all victims to the same kidnapping? What was this stone thing in the center? Where were they?

Considering the current circumstances, she let her hand drift out of her pocket, away from the dissonant yet comforting touch of metal that she was now conscious was heavy in her pocket, and she was attempting to gain the courage to peel her body off the tree it was pressed against.

However, before she could get too far, the blonde and shorter girl began to approach the rock at the center of the clearing, and Lola cocked her head to the side as to express her curiosity. For a brief moment, she had the thought that touching the pillar in the middle, while aesthetic, would not be her first instinct, but as soon as the blonde girl touched the stone a terrifying, mesmerizing light show began. After a while of breathtaking and otherworldly glows, bright tethers, and flashes, a voice suddenly boomed from out of the treeline that enveloped the grass they all occupied.

"Arsh gal am Tor vashrak? Bah! Sek arsh gontir Orshta! Brasaval, Sidorak, Argush! Sidor am brekah!"

At first, the lights were magical, seemingly literally, and they made Lola audibly gasp; the magic and spells and rituals that she had performed before were philosophical, she never saw them as real magic but as mirrors into herself as a way to self-reflect. Yet, against her intuition, these lights seemed more than natural, they radiated something that can only be described as vibrations that she could feel in her bones, beyond her bones even. It was unnerving, dissonant, and beautiful, but as the voice boomed out she could feel all of those feelings sink into her stomach. Her mouth seemed to instantly dry, her vitality retreating into throat as if in fright, and the voice itself shook her in a way more like rumbling than vibration, a deeply unsettling tremor in her core.

Something snapped. It almost felt like a body part popping after being tense, but it was as if it was completely in her mind. Suddenly, abruptly, her vision faded; the sensation of falling, but falling in no particular direction, overcame her. She was drifting again. Again? Yes, she thought to herself, this is familiar.

She awoke, or rather gained form, laying down on cold concrete, her cheek resting on brisk and hard surface that was comforting in the way the the cool side of the pillow is, and she sat up to inspect around. As she eventually stood, she saw around her a suburb whose street, oddly pristine and wellkept with crisp freshly painted yellow lines, she was standing in the middle of, and the sky was an infinite black, her surroundings faded into shadow only a short distance away from her as if she was the center of a sourceless spotlight, and a dullness permeated everywhere. Her last dream was recent enough to make the connections. Going by the saying ‘if it ain’t broke’, she spun around as she did before, and sure enough, about three identical houses down, which every house seemed exactly the same, there was a single working streetlamp that beamed down a yellow light onto the street.

She approached, wary this time, but saw no fish tank as she did before. Looking around, turning completely in a circle, there was no fish that she expected, and she stood a bit defeated and confused. After a moment, she had an idea that dawned on her, and she looked up. As she did, sure enough, her eyes met the gaze of the entity from her last dream, the slightly yellow human eyes staring back into her, but this time the eyes were contained in a white and brown barn owl that seemed to produce its own faint yellow glow, perched on top of the streetlamp looking down on her, expressionless. She cleared her throat silently as she could and mustered her courage.

“A-are you from before?” she inquired in the most confident voice she could muster.
As the owl stared back, the beak began to twist and morph, the back edges began to curl up as the sound of whining and straining bone reached her ear; it was a sound undescribable, the rigid beak changing and twisting unnaturaly to form a new shape. As the sound that made her physically nauseated stopped, she was once again paralyzed, frozen to rigidity with fear, as the beak had coalesced itself into a smile that bore white human teeth. It replied in the same deep and menacing voice that struck at her nerves worse than the new one in the woods, and the sound of constricting and shifting bone came again as the beak moved like lips along with its speech in a completely unnerving way.

“Back so soon?” it chided, “Hmm… It seems this isn’t quite a dream, is it?” Its face and beak shifted into a coy and sarcastic pensive expression before it turned and gave her a smirk and side-eye that made her go cold, and it then closed its eyes and inhaled sharply, as if an answer came to it. “Someone else, as they say, triggered this haven’t they? Well, friend,” with that word her knees buckled slightly as she was giving everything not to collapse, “you’re a bit early.”

“Goodbye,” she compulsively but cordially replied.

With that, she regained her vision, and was shocked to find herself still standing, but she looked over to see the blonde lady that had touched the stone was standing mere inches away. Lola, confused, for the excessive time today, had to take in her surroundings, and she gave out a little gasp as she saw her hand on the stone. Had she slept-walk to it?

“Oh goddess,” she swore under her breath.

Alexander

Everyone seemed to wake up fine, it was the next thirty seconds that turned this already insane beginning into a scene straight from a movie or nightmare. Anything but reality. And here he was, someone had approached the stone in the center, was caught in a storm of something and awakened some voice from hell. All in all, not how he expected to wake up this morning. When the voice erupted from the forest Alexander crouched down out of instinct, seeking to make himself as small of a target as possible, while simultaneously looking around for a source. The voice ended, and nothing seemed to happen, except for the woman who had pressed herself against the tree seemed to walk as if in a haze towards the stone, resting her hand upon it, which upon her touch a faint flash of energy erupted in the shape of her hand. After that she seemed to wake with a gasp as if she hadnt realized she'd touched it. Right after that, another woman yelled at the blonde who had touched the stone. Alexander immediately stood up and yelled back "I get that you're freaking the fuck out, but holy shit, calm yourself! There was no way she could have guessed what would have happened! So back off, and shut up until she speaks!"

Giving a quick glare towards the dark haired female, Alexander moved hesitantly towards the two females at the stone, afraid to startle them further after their bizarre experience and hostile reception from one of the others. Keeping his hands up to show he was unarmed, he called out softly "Are you guys okay? What happened to you?" While saying his piece he kept gazing around to see if whatever had spoken those fell words would come back, while simultaneously looking at the others who hadn't approached the stone to see if they had seen anything.

The instant Madison placed her hand on the stone pillar, energy shot threw her like a bullet. There was no way to describe the feeling as words came to her head. It was like locks inside her head were unlocking simultaneously and it was overwhelming. The voice she heard coming from the stone chilled her to the bone and she felt real fear now.

What is this?! What is happening to me?! Madison thought as the words became clear to hear. She now knew they all were in grave danger. The fear she was feeling now almost turned into terror, but some inner voice told her to not give up either. These strangers she just met, she felt this need to protect them. Still other thoughts came into her head nonstop. It was like all that she knew was wrong and the overload of information caused her brain to hurt. She thought she was going to die because the power inside of her was flowing into every part of her body and even into her soul. The young woman wanted to cry out but couldn't find her voice. She tried pulling her hand off, but couldn't. Even though the moment only lasted a few seconds, it felt like an eternity.

Finally she was set free, but she didn't feel any relief at all. In fact, the knowledge and the power she held only began to make her feel worse. Breathing heavily, she felt like she just ran a marathon. She looked at the hand she placed on the pillar and cupped it with her other hand before placing them on her chest. She was so bewildered by what just happened to her that she didn't even hear one of the women shout at her. The shock of all that happened seemed to finally get to her and she dropped to her knees.

Slowly, ever so slowly she was able to calm her breathing and focused on that for a few minutes. The practical side her wanted to scream on how none of this was making sense. However, there was always that part of her that tried to make her adapted to new situations, even though she hated unexpected changes with a passion, because she had no control over them. She hated how her parents divorced and how she was forced to do things she didn't want to do. She hated that her father died without any warning. Feeling her anger rise again, she recalled the words of her former employer.

"Maddie, it's okay to feel emotions, as long as you don't let them get the best of you, especially the ones that can hurt you."

Madison took those words to heart, but it was hard, so very, very hard right now. She never asked for this. It was at that moment she realized she was shaking and in fact started shaking as soon as she dropped to the ground. It was then she noticed another girl joined her and had touched the stone also.

She was jolted out of her thoughts when one of the few men yelled next. She wondered if it was at her, but listening to his words, she realized it was towards someone else. She heard his footprints and heard him ask if they were okay. Having a hard time finding her voice, she shook her head. She fought to find the words to tell him they were all going to be in trouble soon. Her stubborn attitude soon won over.

"No . . . . I, none of us . . . are going to be okay . . . if we stay here. Something dreadful is coming." she managed to say.
