appearance
Colorful as rainbow face tattoos are the Hattori family trademark. They used to be more 'edgy' but now they're 'child friendly.' A few mishaps from scaring the victims they were trying to save. Oh well. Kako designed hers, herself. Not that it took much effort. But it's definitely a stand out feature.

She has choppy blonde hair (light pink if she remembers to dye it), bright blue eyes and thin pursed lips. She's tall, slender and flat-chested... a boyish body but pretty face. The potential to be a runway model with those measurements but the tattoos might not be ideal.

Anyway, you'll find her head down on the desk in the back row snoozing away.
Zzz.

blood, sweat, and tears; a promise to oneself.

"I will not get gnawed off by a vampire!"

Image
demeanor
Kako sleeps a lot. Wake her and she's happy to talk and laugh with you but she'll fall right back to wonderland when the conversation is over. Usually, she's napping in the back of the supernatural club room. The people are cool and there's space for it.

But any space she inhabits long enough will become a mess. She's used to it because of all the bloody business in the family. Eating? Crumbs everywhere. Sleeping? It's pillows. Killing? It's blood! That kinda thing. Mess is part of the lifestyle and she's never known an OCD vampire hunter. If there was one, they'd probably try to murder her and that'd be a MESS.

ghosts
You ever have that one nightmare on repeat and no damn clue what it means? Kako dreams every night there's a full moon, that she saves someone's life and gets her leg gnawed off in the process. Bloody stupid it is! Like she'd let a vampire get away with that?! She eases her nerves by disappearing into her self made pillow fort until she passes out from the bliss of soft warm fuzzies.

On the other hand, Kako doesn't know what a good dream would be about. She doesn't have any. Do vampire hunters have dreams beyond the hunt? Every Hattori lives and dies for it. She's not so sure if she feels the same.

history
Nothing dark and gloomy so pocket your tissues.
Her role model vampire hunter, Enigma did die before her eyes but he died doing what he loved so it wasn't a sad affair. He kicked major butt! The gun she owns was past down from his hands with the last words,
"Kako, I want you to know... there are as many ways to kill, as there is to love."
Did she know what it meant? Hardly! Killing and loving are two different things?! He must have been losing his mind along with his blood. Still, he was a great teacher. She named the gun after him and treats it like their love child. Her big brother, Shun finds the notion deplorable but he's just your regular killjoy and her joy hasn't been killed as of yet.

Cross Academy requested the presence of a vampire hunter. The Hattori's weren't all too interested in treaties and making peace with those monsters but they had to send someone. So, here is Kako! The youngest with nothing better to do but study, meet boys and have plenty of naps until a vampire breaks some rules.

NIGHT CLASS ☾

Alexei Romanov
friendly neighbourhood stalker
They've only exchanged words a few times, caught him staring more times but he seems cool and not gnaw-y, which is the most important thing. He's the first vampire she ever really spoke with that didn't result in death.

DAY CLASS ☼

Jubilee Evans
best friend
A motherly one that sometimes wakes her up, tells her to do her homework, and drags her to classes. Kako doesn't mind and knows Jubilee means well. It's just hard to resist a nap and the comfort of the fort.

Chiyo Takeuchi
friend
Chiyo is hard for someone like Kako to understand with all her fears and worries but finds her nice and sweet, like the treats she bakes.

Layla Yara
acquaintance
Supernatural club leader who lets her build her fort, like, every time. She's cool in Kako's books even if it costs her an innuendo or two.

ImageIf memory recalls, this is where our bloody fairytale began. Winter, before the snow. Night had taken Cross Academy into its clutches, and as its creatures roamed the school grounds, the precious mortals of the Sun Dorms were oblivious and asleep as always. At least, they should have been. A light still flickered in the window of one of the first year dorms. It was a warm yellow, piercing out from the belly of a teddy bear night light. The bear surveyed the dorm with a lifted paw, keeping lookout over the rows of beds for the one inhabiting the bed beside it. A girl hiding under her covers. This girl quietly tapped away at a dating sim with her headphones in. Her toes curled and her breath hitched as the male lead confessed his love to her heroine. She almost didn't notice when the glow seeping through her blankets suddenly died. A pale cloud of breath fogged up the screen, and her fluttering heart froze as the realization set in.

The blankets lifted a peek, and a brown eye glanced around at the dark. The moon outside was full, flooding through the drapes and catching the floating dust. But its light was blue, and nowhere near as warm and revealing as the bear's. Twigs scraped against the window, and the old building groaned. She stared at the darkest corner. It stared back. With a trembling hand, she turned her night light on again - exposing nothing. She gave it a good three seconds of more staring, then let out a sigh and retreated back into her blankets to play her game.

Click.

She shot up in the dark. Her breath came out heavy, billowing and grey. Her shoulders seized up by her ears and her eyes peeled wide, fixed on that corner. The shadow of the tree at the window swayed in the moonlight, looking like lengthening fingers. The floorboards beneath her bed creaked. And slowly, then all of a sudden, the darkness in the corner grew. The girl gasped and lunged for the light, fumbling it against her chest and switching it on. The darkness and the sigh of something evil vanished in an instant. She tossed her covers over her, taking the light with her.

The girl whimpered and shivered under her covers, cradling the light in her arms. Something outside her fortress creaked. Then again. A slow, heavy pace, stalking up to her bed. She shuddered and squeezed her eyes shut to pray.

PHOOWSH.

The sheets were ripped away. The girl shrieked. Her feet kicked against cold hands clasped around her ankles. She tried to cling to the light, but her hands were wrenched to the side and pinned. Her night light went tumbling onto the sheets, illuminating three sneering faces. Overwhelmed in seconds, there was nothing she could do but scream and sob -
"Help! Someone help me! IT'LL EAT ME!"

The lights turned on. All of a sudden, the still, dark place was stirring and basked in unpleasant fluorescent light, and the first thing she saw through her tears was a dark haired girl at the end of her bed, laughing at her. Other first years were slowly getting up from bed, rubbing at their eyes and mumbling their complaints.

"Eat you? Really?" the girl mocked, shoving her victim's feet away. She instantly pulled in, away from her aggressor and her two giggling accomplices.

"S-Sayaka...? What are you..."

A pillow was ditched their way. "Seriously, Sayaka?! We're sleeping! Stop playing pranks on Chiyo, you're gonna bring in the Disciplinary Committee!" a disgruntled roommate complained.

"I've been trying to sleep, too!" Sayaka retorted, turning from Chiyo to face the outraged dorm, "I've been trying to sleep every night, but some little chicken," Her friend passed her the bear night light, and she flicked the switch off. "Refuses to turn this stupid light off! So she's gotta be taught a lesson, and we can all get a good night's sleep." She flipped her hair and turned to Chiyo, pausing at her distraught expression. But then her brow furrowed over a harsher glare. "Sure, look at me like I'm a monster. Everyone in here is annoyed by you. They just feel too bad for you to say it." The sentiment was affirmed by the silence from the dorm that followed, just shifting eyes and knees. She smirked. "Turn off the lights, or I'm gonna punch them out." She held a fist to the bear's head and jerked. Chiyo flinched. Satisfied, she began to walk away.

"W... Wait, where are you taking him...? Where are you- stop! Hoshi!" Chiyo cried, crawling to the end of her bed after it.

"Calm down, it's a light, not a puppy! Cover her eyes!" Sayaka snapped in irritation. Her friends sprang to action, holding Chiyo down and smothering her face with a pillow. "Mmmf!! Mmmgh!!!" The dorm didn't say a word. They slipped under the blankets and settled back down for bed, turning their backs.

It was late into the night, and Chiyo's sniffles still plagued everyone's otherwise peaceful rest. "God, Chiyo. Don't be such a baby," a muffled complaint came from the other side of the room, then was hushed by an aggressive "SHH!" The room fell back into silence, with Chiyo covering her mouth and nose to quieten herself. The floorboards creaked. The wind picked up outside. And whatever was in the dark corner was looking at her. There were three taps at the window. Chiyo tore her eyes from the corner to the shadow of the tree swaying in the moonlight. She watched, as among the branches, flexed the fingers of a hand... no, that was just foliage, she tried to convince herself, when out from the shadows crept the silhouette of a person. Her head snapped to the window, and a pair of eyes met hers.

Chiyo flung the window open. Her head poked out, and the wind blew back her hair and nightgown. She looked at the tree, across the ground, even up at the sky, but there was nobody to be seen. Only the faint bouncing of the branch remained to taunt her memory...

The Day Classes are over, and their club meetings have begun. The Night Class stirs, and the Disciplinary Committee prepares for the dreaded opening of the Moon Dorm gate, which, as always, Day Class students have already begun to gather for.

ImageChiyo lifted her head from her desk as the bell rang. Her hair was stuck to her lips by drool, and dark bags were smeared beneath her eyes. As her head moved, some wrappers fell off her head. She looked behind her and saw Sayaka in the back row finish a juice box and crush it. Oh... Sayaka's eyes slid to her with a smirk and she ditched the juice box. Chiyo ducked with her arms over her head. The juicebox bounced off the rim of the bin near her seat.

"Sorry. You're just kinda in the way," Sayaka claimed as she and her friends shoved past her seat. Chiyo barely peeked up from behind her arms. Sayaka's brow twitched at the lacking reaction. "You know that predators pick off the weak, right? If you're so scared of being eaten then don't be so pathetic." The group left snickering, mimicking Chiyo's distressed cries from last night. Chiyo picked up the juice box and put it in the bin.

She dragged her feet down the hall. Students ran around her and friends knocked shoulders and laughed. They tapped at their phones and gossiped over the latest post in the The Night Class Report. "Are you going to see the Night Class today!" "Yeah! I mean, if you go, it's awkward to go by myself..." "God, I'll die if Gianna even looks at me." A group of giggling second years flounced past Chiyo. The echoes of students fleeing to the courtyard disappeared down the hall, and Chiyo stopped in front of a classroom, 3-B. Beside the door was a sign, Supernatural Club: Recruiting Always.

She patted her hair down for any more food wrappers, then put on a smile and entered.

At the back of the underused supernatural club room, right in the corner, there was a makeshift fort oozing comfort and softness.
A blanket thick enough to block out the light had been draped across chairs and sofa seat cushions borrowed from the dorm, made up the small walls. As if the aftermath of an epic pillow fight, it was pillows and feathers galore on the floor.

A pale arm wiggled out from the folds of darkness. It was Kako's as she dragged herself out halfway, flat on her stomach. Rubbing an eye that still had sleep gunk in it, she used the other eye to identify the visiting club member. A smile slipped onto her face in alignment with the tongue part of her tattoo. "Howdy-do?" she greeted, unconcerned that she'd been caught. It hadn’t stopped her from skipping class and napping before unless it was Jubilee.

Kako's smile ran its course, returning her lips to its neutral thin line. Chiyo’s new eye sacks weren't a good look for her. "Want to put the fort to the test?" Kako suggested and rolled aside, making room for two. She folded her arms under her choppy locks of hair and stared up at the ceiling. A pink bubble emerged from her mouth. It popped and she laughed while it stuck to her face. Kako had dozed off with bubble gum in there. Lucky she didn't choke.

Layla Yara

Image
hex #800000
Layla had been nice about ending things, but he hadn’t reacted well. He had started yelling and throwing things. It wasn’t the first time something like this happened, so she was rather bored watching. It confirmed she wouldn’t give him a second chance. She was a third-year as well and didn’t have time to deal with the same people.

She would have left by now if it wasn’t for the teacher who was behind her and currently scolding her ex-lover. She always liked to witness any type of drama, even if it involved her. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she worried she'd be late to the supernatural club. She relaxed when the teacher stopped speaking. This was her moment.

“I have to get to the supernatural club, can’t be late now,” she said as the teacher looked down at her in disappointment. She quickly turned and ran out of the room as the teacher parted their lips to speak again. Layla wouldn’t be scolded because someone wanted to act like a child when she ended things. She slowed her pace once she was a safe distance away.

. . .

She arrived in time to see Chiyo enter 3-B. Layla quickened her pace and got close enough to the doorway to hear a new voice.

"Want to put the fort to the test?"

A smile graced her lips, but her cheeks took on a light pink color. Was she going to interrupt something? Should she go to give Chiyo alone time? She would, but first, she had to see who was speaking to her. She took a tentative step into the room but stayed close to the doorway. Slowly she took in her surroundings. Her eyes landed on her. It was the girl who always slept in the back during their meetings I didn’t know Chiyo and her were a thing. Layla softly cleared her to get their attention. She was sure they would have noticed her if she tried to leave now. She deiced she'd speak to not make things awkward by trying to sneak away. Her eyes looked over the pillow fort for a second before they went to the back of Chiyo’s head.

“Chiyo, am I interrupting something? Shall we skip today’s meeting? I don't mind...”

ImageKako... had certainly gotten comfortable, hadn't she? The Supernatural Club snoozer suddenly had a set up. How did she always do it so fast...? This was still a classroom, and - and Chiyo had just cleaned up after her yesterday! Feathers wafted through the air as though only recently disrupted, one settling down on Chiyo's nose. She gazed over at the mess of pillows and feathers with a heavy heart, her shoulders sinking in defeat at the thought of the job ahead of her...

But her gaze couldn't help but wistfully fixate on the spot beside Kako. Yes, why... would cleaning up after Kako be a problem? It was her fatigue that was dragging her down. That blanket fort looked so comfy and safe. Maybe... Layla would be ok with her napping through this meeting, too... even if she was the only the only other member.

But can you sleep without Hoshi?

“Chiyo, am I interrupting something?"

Chiyo turned her head to the Supernatural Club President with big eyes and an innocent smile. "Huh?" ... Oh, Layla meant... Chiyo went pink. She loved her, but the older girl could just never get that kind of stuff out of her head! Not everything is about that, Layla! Chiyo hid her lips behind her fist, flustering - and feigning ignorance. It wasn't cute to know about this stuff.

"N-no, it's fine. Kako was trying to tempt me into sleeping with her, but I'm not that tired." Her big brown (eyebag dragged down) eyes peered up at Layla over her fist. "I want to have the meeting, Layla. I - I made club snacks in home ec."

From out of her bag, she produced three decorated cake pops sealed in plastic, the animal friends all gathered in one hand. A rabbit, a bear, and a chicken.

Laying flat on her back, Kako slid the soles of her feet closer then tilted her head back for a decent, albeit upside-down view of the next person to arrive.
At hearing the club leader's suggestion of skipping the meeting altogether, she popped her next strawberry-banana-punch flavored bubble. Why she had never just been shooed out of the club room? Kako had no clue and she wasn't going to lose sleep over it...

"N-no, it's fine. Kako was trying to tempt me into sleeping with her, but I'm not that tired." Huh, Chiyo sure did look tired. Maybe her eyes were playing tricks on her? She was still feeling a little groggy. "Really?" Kako asked, batting her eyes in case her vision would clear up some more. Instead, both Layla and Chiyo looked pink. Chiyo almost as pink as her bubble gum.
"I want to have the meeting, Layla. I - I made club snacks in home ec." Kako counted three cake pops. Aw, was she included? "I like bears," Ah, bears and hibernating. If only she could...
The very thought urged her eyes to droop. She did need sleep this time around. Damn full moon last night.

Flavor gone, Kako pinched the gum out her mouth and tossed it with a satisfying clang! She was messy but not an outright litterer. Shuffling in, with, around the blankets and pillows to secure a comfortable spot to doze, "Enjoy your meeting and the fort is open if anyone is tempted..." She turned her head away and closed her eyes. Comfort ready to steal her away.

Layla only smirked at Chiyo’s reply. Her smirk grew as her friends turned pink and then continued to speak. Her eyes were drawn to her younger friend’s eyebags. She couldn’t help, but get a little distracted at the treats Chiyo produced. Her gaze went to Kako as she spoke and then went back to her fort. Layla’s gaze returned to Chiyo as she took the rabbit.

“Thank you, Chiyo. We can have the meeting...if you change your mind, just let me know. It does seem Kako would like some company in the fort though,” she said before winking. She freed the rabbit from its plastic wrap before throwing the wrap away. Next, Layla sat on the teacher’s desk before she took a bite of the bunny’s ear.

“Mmm,” she mused as she ate her treat quickly. Once she finished, she got off the desk and threw the stick away. Layla then walked over to the closet in the room and began to pull out some supplies. The supplies consisted of four black candles, a candle lighter, and an ouija board.

“Today...we are going to summon a ghost,” she said as a mischievous smile graced her lips. She walked over to Kako’s fort and leaned down.

“You can join us if you like, Kako,” she whispered, in the case Kako had fallen asleep already. Layla then walked over to a random desk and put the supplies down. Her eyes wandered over to Chiyo.

“Chiyo, can you turn the lights off please?” she asked. She picked up a lighter and began to light the candles. Layla tucked the lighter in her back pocket once all the candles were lit.

ImageThere was a little poof as the bear shaped treat landed by Kako's head on a pillow, right as she'd laid down to rest. Chiyo turned back to the last cake pop left in her hand, the chicken. She stared into its iced black eyes, eyes narrowing until before she realised it she was glaring. She opened her mouth to devour it and -

"GH-ghost?!" She exclaimed, twisting her head from the cake to gawk at Layla. Her attention zoomed right to the ouija board and Chiyo felt her own ghost escaping up through her mouth. She nodded at Layla's request, smiling weakly in defeat. "Okie dokie..."

Chiyo was back at the ring of candles in record speed after she flicked the light switch, sitting on her knees. She put her fingers on the planchette without being prompted. She'd clearly been roped into this before. With a sigh, she flicked her head up with attempted cheeriness.

"What makes you think we'll be able to contact a ghost here, Layla?" She chirped, "Nobody's ever died in Cross Academy..."

The candles cast shadows over her face as her smile faded out.

".................. Nobody's ever died in Cross Academy, right?"

Layla couldn’t help, but be a little pleased as Chiyo gawked at her. She liked messing with her friend who was like a little sister to her. When she joined her, Layla couldn’t help but wonder why her friend looked so tired. She wondered if it had to do with Sayaka. Her fingers joined Chiyo’s at her questions. She smirked at Chiyo and pushed Sayaka out of her head for now.

“Well, we can find out if anyone has died here right now. A classroom seems like a good enough place to try. Some teachers do seem to try to talk students to death,” she replied with a shrug.

. . .

“Oh spirits on the other side, do any of you linger here at Cross Academy because you met your untimely end here?” she whispered. She watched the board for a few minutes. There was only silence beside the random noises in the hallway. When she realized there would be no ghost, she decided she’d have some fun with Chiyo. Slowly and doing her best not to make it obvious, she glided the planchette over to the word YES on the broad. It was barely a second later before a smile slowly appeared on her face and laugher escaped her lips.

“I am sorry, Chiyo. I had to move the planchette," she paused to take in a deep breath, "I don’t know if anyone died here, but I have an idea of who to ask...maybe we can summon a ghost if we have a name and know where they died.” Layla took out her phone and texted the contact Satan (a.k.a. Yuudai Kusakube). Her "favorite" person.

Find out if anyone has died at Cross Academy by tomorrow. If anyone has, please provide their full name with how and where they died...or else. I expect you to be at the Supernatural Club meeting tomorrow to provide us with the information. Don't be late.

Her smile grew as she sent the message. She didn’t expect him to really find any information that quickly. Layla liked to fluster Yuudai though. Her eyes went to Chiyo as she picked up a candle. She had someone else to deal with now.

“Why didn’t you sleep last night?” she asked. Her voice took a serious tone as if daring her friend to lie. She blew out the first candle before putting it down. She never took her gaze off her friend though. Layla picked up the second candle as she waited for nothing but the truth.

ImageChiyo hunkered down with her fingers on the board. Despite Layla's nonchalant approach, the thought of somebody dying in one of Cross Academy's classrooms was quite unnerving to Chiyo. Like it was an ill-fated prophecy addressed to her.

A little into the seance, with not much luck, Chiyo was getting comfortable. The candles were bright enough to cast light in the darkest corners, and lit Layla's red hair up like another flame. Maybe she was getting too comfortable when -

"Layla...? Are you.." Chiyo started as she felt the planchette move beneath her fingers. She glanced between the Club President and the ouija board. Layla looked mesmerized by the movement. Thud. Thud. Thud. "...Layla..!" THUD. THUD. THUD. Her eyes peeled wide at the answer.

Y E S.

"Ahahaha!"

Layla laughed before Chiyo could scream, but her back had already hit the ground. She caught on quick and placed a hand over her heart to calm it as she rolled her nerves out all over the ground. "Aaaaaaaaaaa..!" She wailed her frustrations to the sky, "Ennnoouuugh! The only ghosts I wanna catch are types of Pokemon!! You're gonna make my heart explode one day, Layla!!!"

Image"Hmm hmm, hm hm~" Yuudai hummed up his tree as he flicked through his comment section. A notification popped up on his screen. "Hm? AGH-!"

The second he recognized the sender, he jumped and fumbled the device, almost falling out of the tree. Hanging upside down by one leg, and startling the group of girls beneath him, he opened the message. His brow twitched as he read.

"She wants to know if anyone died here? Can you get any more morbid. How's someone as creepy as her always have a date..." His eyes narrowed in on those words: OR ELSE. His face, which had grown red from all the blood running down to it, suddenly went sheet white.

"FINE!" He declared to no one, "I'll find you your dead person, Layla Yara! Even if I have to dead them myself!!"

Because if I don't, the dead person tomorrow is gonna be me...

Chiyo turned from flicking the lights on. "Eh, why I didn't sleep?" She repeated, startled by Layla's seriousness. She tried to laugh it off. "It's not that big of a deal… I was playing on my DS…"

Her words faltered, and her eyes trailed down.

"... Then Sayaka took Hoshi and hid him," she admitted sullenly. She swallowed. "You know, my night light. I can't sleep without him. I keep - I keep feeling like something is watching me from the corner of the room."

Chiyo's gaze drifted to some place Layla couldn't see. The dark corner of her bedroom hung in the peripherals of her consciousness. "It's funny, my Dad used to watch me fall asleep from that corner after telling me bedtime stories. It made me feel safe when I was a kid. But now that he's not around it's like something else took his place."

Chiyo shook her childhood memories away and rubbed the back of her head, smiling sheepishly at Layla.

"Don't suppose if I told Sayaka all of this, she'd give Hoshi back? Hahaha... ha."

All the mirth left Layla's face as she frowned when Chiyo mentioned Sayaka. She blew out the second candle and placed it down. If Layla was a violent person, Sayaka would have been the first person she'd fight. Layla wasn't a violent person though. She disliked it actually. It made her rather uncomfortable. She even disliked pain and blood for the most part as those two things usually meant someone was hurt. Sayaka had hurt her friend though by depriving her of sleep and taking Hoshi.

“You don’t need to tell her any of that...you know what, I’ll go talk to her. Stay here and clean up, please. We wouldn’t want a fire to start, especially with Kako asleep in here. After, why don't you join Kako in the fort and try to sleep? I'll see if I can come back with Hoshi...” she said. Without another word, she turned and quickly walked out of the classroom.

. . .

It didn’t take Layla long to get to the opposite side of the Moon Dorm gates. She slowed from a run to a walk when she got close enough to the groups there. Her eyes narrowed as they landed on Sayaka. She really disliked her. Layla did know Sayaka liked someone named Dosei of the Night Class. If she didn’t comply with Layla’s requests, she’d mess with Sayaka as she did with Yuudai. She would even go as far as to pursue Dosei. She knew what Dosei looked like thanks to Yuudai's annoying blog.

“Hey, Say-A-Yuck! Why can’t you ever leave Chiyo alone? Are you obsessed with her or something? You need to leave her alone and give her back Hoshi. If I see that she ever looks tired again, and it is your fault, I will do my best to make your life a living hell or...I could go after Dosei. He is rather cute,” she said as she reached the girl.

As the last word escaped her lips, Layla went to grab one of the black ribbons from Sayaka’s hair to pull it loose. She had a feeling Sayaka wouldn’t listen, so she would start messing with her now. Layla wondered how Sayaka would feel about not looking her best when Dosei appeared.

Kako released a yawn she had been holding back while Layla and Chiyo were talking. Well, she was wide awake now and might as well say something? She sat up with messy bed hair, both legs straight out on the floor in front of her. "I think… I knew someone like your dad." Kako said softly. Her mentor’s face formed like a cloud. "Safe… I felt that."
But he wasn't related, wasn't buff, wasn't tall... didn't have 20/20 vision, and had tripped over her in her sleeping bag multiple times!
She scratched her head. "But I don't understand the rest... why not... scream at what scares you like..."

"Kako, I want you to be strong. Strong enough to scream, unarmed and arms open at those devils..."I'm right here!"

"I'm here! I'm right here!" She jumped up suddenly on the closest desk, sending a stack of books that was haphazardly left on the edge tumbling down. Kako raised her arms up in the air as high as she could go, wearing a silly, big grin on her face. Ahh... That was a good day.

She blinked and turned out of memory lane, greeted by the plain school ceiling and its fluorescent lights. Her arms lowered to her sides but her grin stayed behind. "Jubilee and Layla scream that in their own way." Kako spun around, her uniform skirt lifting a tad as blue eyes settled on Chiyo. "I'd like to see your way."

She dropped down without a hint of embarrassment, then extended her hand out to Chiyo. Her fingers wiggling for attention, "For now, let's go?" If Layla was after Sayaka at this time of day... it was easy to deduce where they'd be. Once her classmate's hand landed in hers, Kako grabbed on tightly and ran. Down the hall they'd go through the packs of high schoolers, Kako laughing away with her head tossed back like an immature kindergartner or a maniac. Depends who's looking.

The supernatural club's used candles, ouija board, and other items were abandoned along with the fort that had a tilted paper sign held up by gum that read, ‘GONE HUNTING.’

ImageYuudai's eyes wandered off as they were scolded. He cleaned his ear with his pinkie and made a face like he'd heard it all before a million different times. "Yeah, yeah," he exasperated to Mika regarding returning the letter, and passed it over to Sayaka - still dangling it just enough out of her reach that she had to strain to snatch it back. There was an audible tear as she yanked it out of his hand. Yuudai discreetly knocked his phone and mouthed "GOT PHOTO" to Layla before he pocketed his evidence of the crime and brushed off his hands.

Sayaka stared down at her brutalized letter. Prevent her from returning to the Opening of the Gate? She trembled, holding back her inner childish declaration of 'it's not fair!' She was humiliated, and everyone was looking!! She tossed her head back to her friends and barked, "Asami! Go get that stupid light and give it back to the chicken! I'm bored of this! Come on, let's go."

"But- but I wanted to see Sindri.."

Sayaka led her disgruntled friends away from the gates, her letter torn and her hair a mess, neither in any state to present to the object of her affections. But mostly, the fleeing was to hide her tears from them.

Merely a moment after they headed away, a bell sounded, followed by the low groan of heavy wooden doors scraping against stone. The gates were opening.

Image
It is time for the Moon Dorm and Sun Dorm transfer. Day Class students, technically not allowed to be present, have gathered for this event. The Disciplinary Committee's shift has officially begun. The bully, Sayaka, has been defeated for now - through somewhat underhanded tactics - and all is right in Cross Academy... though a select number of this 'elite' class are about to shake it again.

"AWWWWW!!!"

Was the noise that was most distinct in today's rabble. The instant the Night Class stepped outside, the Aristocrats in front, and the commoners behind them, the gathered Day Class zeroed in on the adorable animal companions they were bringing with them. Sindri found himself cut off from the rest, surrounded by students asking about the kitten. Students crouched down and watched Maru, hoping he'd trot their way. Beautiful men handling cute animals seemed an all-around hit. Suddenly, for Layla, Yuudai and the Disciplinary Committee, it had gotten very loud.

ImageSomebody wasn't interested in the supernaturally beautiful girls and boys gliding through the gates, nor their disarmingly cute pets. She ran right past the scene and thud. Sent Layla stumbling a step as she wrapped her arms around her from behind.

"Thank you," Chiyo whispered, muffled by Layla's school uniform. Yuudai slid his way into her personal space.

"Hey there, Chiyo~~ I helped too, you know." He opened his arms, smugly expecting something.

"..Egh," Chiyo instinctively reacted out of disgust and snuggled herself closer to Layla.

Layla Yara
hex #800000

Layla couldn’t help the delight that filled her as Sayaka finally reacted to her implied threat. Annoyance soon followed that delight at his voice. She was surprised he was admitting to his crime from years ago. Although, he had some timing as she wasn’t sure if him admitting this would take strength away from her threat. If it did then she was going to make sure he regretted it.

Her annoyance was replaced with happiness when he stole something from Sayaka and actually had her yelling like a child. She could have kissed him at that moment if she didn’t dislike him so much. Layla was pulled from her thoughts when Jubilee appeared. She was glad she focused on Yuudai instead of her.

It wasn’t long before she was reminded why Yuudai was so very much dislikable. The bastard threw her under the bus and lied about her starting things. Sayaka had started it by stealing Hoshi. Karma seemed to be on her side though when Yuudai bumped into someone as he tried to escape. She tilted her head to the side at the sound of a new voice she hadn’t heard before.

She knew he had to be a disciplinary committee member with how he spoke to Jubilee. A smile stayed on her face as he began to scold Yuudai and Sayaka. Her eyes sparkled with interest when he said her name again. Layla was interested in what he wanted to say to her, but avoiding him likely would be best. She didn’t want to potentially be scolded for something that wasn’t her fault.

What does he mean being at the opening of the gate is a privilege? Is it because most of the students decided at some point to obsess over the Night Class walking through a gate? I never understood what the big deal was. They are students just like us...although, there does seem to be something different about them. He was different and there is something about Alexei too.

Yuudai had her attention when he spoke again. She grinned at him, happy with the way he returned the letter. Her grin somehow grew bigger at the words he mouthed to her. Layla was now looking forward to reading his next addition to his blog. Satisfaction filled her when she heard Sayaka order one of her gremlins to return Hoshi to Chiyo.

Slowly, she turned around as she heard the unpleasant sound of stone being scraped. Her eyes slowly took in the Night Class students she hadn’t seen before. Layla couldn’t help but stare at the one with golden eyes. It was such a gorgeous color on them. She was forced out of her trance when she was suddenly stumbling forward. Layla was almost annoyed until she heard Chiyo’s voice.

“You’re welcome, Chiyo,” she replied, suppressing a laugh. She found it highly entertaining her friend reacted in disgust to Yuudai. Layla stuck her tongue out at Yuudai. She would have laughed in his face. Layla only held back as she didn’t want Chiyo to see her acting too immaturely. Also, she couldn’t forget she had to sneak away before she got scolded.

“Chiyo, let’s go watch the Night Class. I think I may finally understand why so many students like to watch them. Also...I need to avoid Mr.Scoldy with the white hair,” she whispered. She placed her hands over Chiyo’s before slowly leading her towards the Night Class students in the front. The last thing she needed was her friend to fall since they were so close together.

Mika Cross||#2730BF
’Touch me not, remember me not, suffer me so.’

Mika's eyebrow twitched as both Sayaka and Yuudai dipped out, a sigh leaving a heaving chest before he turned to face Yara...

Who had also left. Vanished with nary a sound or explanation for her behavior. Regrettable. "Hmph... All's well that can end well, I suppose." He would have to find her later, talk to her and get the rest of the story as it had happened. The same would have to be done with... The brat... Hm.
Then the creaking came. Or at least Mika noticed it at the last moment, distracted by the inner 'drama student' dialogue.

It took no time at all for the day-class to immediately- as Mika would lovingly refer to it- Lose Their Crap.
Swiftly, there were too many students crowding around the Night Class, and while Mika wouldn't necessarily say he 'liked' the majority of the night class, the fact that isolated Sindri was swarmed was disconcerting. The poor boy was always kind, or at least as little trouble making as possible... So...

There Mika went once again, shorter than most of the peers surrounding Sindri, and yet louder than every single one of them.
One could only imagine the authority Mika could command if he were ever a teacher.

Gianna Marigold||#C70039
’I kissed a girl, and a boy, and an enby... What were we talking about again?'

"Ooohohoho..." Whispered Gianna, eyes taking in the absolute importance of Dosei's words. She gave him the smile that a hyena, or a jackal perhaps, might have given an otherwise unaware antelope. Predatory, eager, and entirely cold.

Then came the sound of creaking wood and scraping stone, The Gate was opening.

And then came the flood of admirers, those who came to see the elusive, the magnificent, the glorious children of! The Night Class.

Ugh. Gianna kept a bright smile plastered to her face, managing to even convince most that it was a genuine thing. It wasn't. Instead, Gianna took note of three PAR-TIC-U-Lar-ly interesting day-class students. One of Orange hair and skeezy behavior, her 'favorite'.
One of White hair and sleepy face, infinitely fun to taunt...
And the last, one who she hadn't yet seen before, who gazed at her with an intrigued expression. The little lamb that clung to the red-haired girl was noted, disected, and then categorized away. ...

Time to begin. A wild cackle leapt from Gianna's lips, her smile becoming a fevered thing as she rushed forward.
She danced, separating from her night-class peers to plant chaste pecks on the cheeks, foreheads, jaws, and for the very lucky few, corners of lips.
Male, female, those in-between, and those who adhered not to a stupid spectrum, all received some amount of affection from her. She only 'attacked' those who had otherwise given consent before, but now...
Golden eyes danced with mirth, and before many could even notice, Gianna stood before Layla.
She cupped the girl by her cheeks, giggling serenely before she planted a rather excited kiss to the corner of Layla's lips. Her voice came swiftly, eyebrows shooting into the air as she posed a question. "And WHAT is your name oh miss beauty~?"
Then she turned to Chiyo, eyes flashing (figuratively) as a hand came out and 'Boop!'d the poor girl's nose.
Her gaze then swerved to Kako, her other hand coming up and into the air as she waved to the girl excitedly.
"KAKOOOOOOOOO! Hiiiiiiii!"

And then right back to Layla she went, hands coming out to rest on Layla's shoulders, smile unwavering as she locked her gaze on Layla's lips.

To read them, of course.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

If Alexei weren't used to Clementine's outbursts he would have had half a mind to hiss back at the orange fur ball. Yes he knew the names of all of Sindri's cats due in part to the different ways that they managed to display their hatred of him. Though he never went out of his way to harm them, they had his visceral reaction whenever he entered the room. He supposed it was animal instinct to protect their owner but it was getting ridiculous. He hardly planned on killing the aristocrat so what did it matter that Alexei wanted to imbue a little bit of corruption? Nonetheless, Sindri kept his cat in line which gave Alexei time to check his messages, one of which included a confrontation breaking out at the gates.

”I always love a good soiree but it appears that the Day Class has something equally interesting happening.” He gestured for his friends to turn toward his phone where someone had recorded a clip of Layla and Sayaka arguing.

"Well, sorry Layla, Dosei's got higher standards than your old Night Class boy toy. He'll never fall for the Supernatural Club's Succubus!"

“I’d be pleased if Dosei was never with you though, which I could make happen. I could tell him all the awful things you do to Chiyo, and if he doesn’t care, you two deserve each other. Although, I’d still be unhappy with that result. If you really insist on not giving Hoshi back and leaving Chiyo alone, let me ask you something. How would you feel if Dosei was expelled because of your actions?”

"N-no you wouldn't-You wouldn't dare -"

The video cut off before anything else happened, but the sentiment seemed to be clear.

”Is she a friend of yours Dosei?" he chuckled as the four of them exited the dorms.

Unfortunately, the action had ended by the time they arrived, dispersed by that pesky Disciplinary Committee. Instead, the Night Class was greeted with a deluge of love struck humans vying for attention. Among the unimpressive masses however only two truly stood out. Behind Gianna's bum rush towards Layla and Kako were Alexei's more measured steps. Though he hadn't seen her before, they seemed quite attached to her (and that in it of itself was an accomplishment).

His eyes honed in on Layla, a smirk tugging at the side of his lips.

"Did you plan on ending the day like this or was Yuudai's presence simply a coincidence?"

► Dosei Kajiyashiki #006b80

The Moon Dorm Gate opening, this Night Class parade was... oh so tiring. How Alexei and Gianna found their fun still, he almost envied. But if a meager walk kept both the humans and vampires happy, why should he not oblige? Not one for small talk and with no close friends among the humans, he had no reason to delay his way to class. Or so he thought. There was a snare.

”Is she a friend of yours Dosei?" If he had heard the voices blaring from Alexei's phone by itself, he would have just as easily answered. ”No.” He turned away as the gates were opening. ”I'd like to think... that my friends wouldn't invoke my name in that fashion.” He clicked his tongue in disapproval, eyes flicking sharply over. ”Would you, friend?”

ImageAt his footsteps, the crowd parted like the red sea to let him accompanied by the aristocrats lead the way in front. The lower-class vampires feasted their eyes and the hungriest licked their lips. His hair neatly trimmed short, left the nape of his pureblood neck exposed but he let his collar be. As his back faced them all, "I can tell who skipped breakfast," Dosei remarked, right before the humans swarmed.

Sindri was snatched, Gianna descended upon them with a trail of mesmerized adorers in her wake and Alexei followed soon after her, with a keen eye to hunt down the day class party that awakened his teen drama heart. Dosei kept walking leisurely with Maru at his heels and the voices around him drowned out as he caught up.

“Layla,"
“Chiyo,"
“And Kako."

He greeted with an acknowledged nod, mismatched eyes slowly studying their faces. “Alexei has told me a lot about you," He said to Layla before his eyes drifted down to the one clinging to her protector. “Take care," he muttered softer. And the last one, not as attached at the hip as the rest, with a face adorned in color. “It was nice to meet you." He concluded, leaving his friends to their fun.

---
Dosei. Aimi, a student of the day class swept up in the crowd, whispered his name with longing in her head. As if he read her mind, their eyes locked. Her heart began fluttering. The beating was restless, drumming in her ears loudly in sync with the steps Dosei was taking towards her. She put her hand over her chest praying it would quieten. Then before she could question reality, he was standing right before her. Tall, stoic with eyes that held its gaze long enough for her to get lost in. Aimi's face flushed, basking in his full attention as everyone else seemed to disappear. “That was kind of you," He outstretched his hand, and her own shakily slid into place. “But it would have been kinder to act without expecting anything in return..." He leaned forward, his thumb lightly brushing over her knuckles, and whispered, “Next time." Her lips parted to catch a breath as he pulled away. Now, where was Jubilee?

“Jubilee," Dosei greeted, not far from the spot where the video was taken. "I didn't expect a member of the disciplinary committee to do this." he confessed. Dosei stood by her side, observing the masses by the sidelines. A trace of disappointment was written in his features. "Pray tell, what have you traded my hand for?”

Maru Kajiyashiki

song inspo ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

Still most suspicious of Alexei, he walked in between the two as the group's pace started to slow when approaching the gate. Maru's head upturned, and he watched him the entire way there.

As the entourage dispersed with the sound of metal scraping concrete, the puppy became momentarily taken aback by the sudden crowd. A whimper escaped his small body. The dream from earlier came back to him as unfamiliar faces and curious eyes peered at him. He was nervously inching closer to Dosei's shoes, who walked with poise.

"I can tell who skipped breakfast," Hearing Dosei's nonchalant but confident voice speak under his breath among the swarm reminded Maru of his own pride. As he put another paw in front of the other and his hindlegs following, he began taking proud strides alongside Dosei with his short tail held high in the air. Unlike back then, he was happy to be here. However, the attention was not just on Maru himself. There was tension directed at his taller friend. Maru would be willing to do his best to fend them off if they did try anything.

As Dosei went on to personally address the troublemakers, Maru sat idle with his head moving to scan the three. He communicated his personal assessment through small vocalisations.
“Layla," "Arf arf grr..." (good but intense).
“Chiyo," "Ruff ruff, awoo." (good but weak-willed).
“And Kako." "Wuf wuf." (nice girl), a small yelp following (but a bit scary).

Light catching the shine of his tail, he quickly became distracted and chased around himself with Dosei performing other meagre tasks (offering pleasantries) in the background. Satisfied from accomplishing the difficult feat, he suddenly pouted when Dosei returned, who was disappointed as he looked at Jubilee. Maru also turned to face the same person, mimicking the same expression. "Bark, bark...?" (what have you done...?) gaze narrowing in on her ankle boots. The leather would be easy to tear and chew into.

ImageChiyo gladly let herself be led by Layla, though she really wasn't too keen on where they were headed. "Okay..." she replied. If we don't get too close, she internalized. She'd always found something creepy about them. Something about the eyes. They were elite students, sure, but she never liked the way they looked at the Day Class, like they really considered them lesser. She brushed the prickle on the back of her neck away and departed with Layla and Kako, but not without one big, beaming wave for someone very special. "Good luck tonight, Juby!"

Well, of course they ended up at the front, Layla was never one for sticking at the back of a crowd - but Chiyo still never expected ATTENTION. Her jaw dropped as Gianna grabbed Layla's face and k-k-kissed her?! In a split second Gianna had locked her freaky gold eyes on her, and Chiyo yipped - "Wait no!" - and slapped her hands over her mouth to protect her lip chastity. She was booped on the nose, with a strength maybe Gianna didn't know, and flinched back with a whimper. "Aaaaa..."

The assault didn't end there, followed by Alexei's teasing of Layla, and then Dosei was in front of them. Saying their names. Saying HER name. Chiyo stared at her pigeon-toed feet, one hand on her pink nose. It wasn't so surprising, for them to notice Layla, she always made herself noticed. It wasn't so surprising, for them to notice Kako, even if she didn't want to be those tattoos made her noticed. And it was never surprising for them to notice Juby, either, it was her job to be. But why bother knowing her name? I guess it pays off to cling to their sleeves in the end.

Chiyo's hair raised on her arms. Actually no, it didn't. She seemed to be the only one painstakingly aware of the glares they were getting. She looked up at Layla, flustering. Her distress hadn't muted the conversation, and she'd caught Dosei's words beyond her name. Like, “Alexei has told me a lot about you."

"Whatishappening?" She whisper-shouted through her teeth very, very fast like Alexei and Gianna weren't there. "LaylaKakoyouknowthesepeople?????" A distressed glance back at the glares. Some had already turned their jealousy to a girl getting a handshake from the Night Class's heart throb. "WeneedtogoWE'REGOINGTOGETMOBBED."

Mika Cross||#2730BF
’Warm kitty, soft kitty, little ball of… Fur?’

Mika’s nose wrinkled as Sindri tried to offer out the kitten, and although the Disciplinary Committee member was loathe to admit, the kitten WAS adorable. A hand reached out, gently stroking the fur along the spine of the kitten. The sigh he made was one of focus and of a knowing that this would be… Rumor mill wildfire. Mika took the treat with his other hand, holding it near the kitten’s nose. “I would like to state, Sindri, that animals are prohibited from the school grounds… I will make one last exception, as I do with everyone, but I want you to have that known.

His eye rose to meet Sindri’s, thoughts otherwise unreadable behind the red eyeball, and white eyepatch. The shorter of the two waited for a response, and waited to see how ‘little Clementine’ would wake.

Gianna Marigold||#C70039
’Oh little rabbit, little bunny! Let me chase you so…’

Gianna’s eyes darted about, locking on Dosei’s moving lips, on the shifting stances and thrumming, humming murmurs that were FELT rather than heard. Jubilee and Dosei’s conversation was read.

‘Ohoho! Ohohohohohoho!!! Good ‘ol Dosei~!’
Nevermind that the thoughts were chortled aloud. Nevermind that Gianna had no volume control, and most of all, nevermind that the littlest one— Chiyo, according to Dosei— reminded her of a rabbit… Gianna read the poor girls’ lips, as much as she could, and took note of the beginnings of a crowd.

Quickly, Gianna let go of Layla. Her hands found the shoulders of Chiyo, golden eyes boring into the surrounding mob of angry ‘suitors’. The grin that threatened to spread over Gianna’s features was magnificent and terrifying. Her lips twitched. Her eyebrows wiggled, and her giggles were just barely contained.

She locked eyes with Kako for but a moment, consideration clear, before she pulled Chiyo from Layla’s sleeve. She spun with the girl, smiling broadly now, keeping the ivory daggers in her mouth hidden. “I am deaf, and not very smart, but even I know that one like you must know how to have fun! Dance with me little bunny, little cherry!

They spun for a brief moment, Gianna leaning in to ‘whisper’ into Chiyo’s ear. “To the dungeons and attics with what they think, little bunny. Enjoy yourself! You have very good friends, no…~?” She glanced at Yuudai.

Well… Mostly.

Layla Yara
hex #800000

Layla was pleasantly surprised when Gianna gave her a kiss. At her question, Layla smiled, but then Gianna was off to give her attention to others. Layla watched her with interest as she interacted with Chiyo and Kako. It wasn’t long before her attention was on Layla again though. Layla’s smile grew as Gianna's hands rested on her shoulders. The thing that caught her attention the most was where her eyes were focused. Layla couldn’t help but wonder if she wanted a proper kiss. Layla would be the last person to object to kissing.

She was pulled out of thoughts of kissing by Alexei's voice. Her gaze only went to Alexei for a second before Dosei came into view. She had just threatened him thanks to Sayayuck. Layla could see the appeal. Dosei’s greeting was interesting as well, especially with his little companion. She wondered how exactly he knew her name, but then he answered that question. Alexei.

As Dosei headed towards Jubilee, she stopped watching him. Chiyo was the next one to have Layla's attention when she started to freak out. It was cute and amusing. The thought of being mobbed was an interesting one. Layla glanced around and decided they were safe for now. The last thing she wanted to do was leave. Although, her reason to stay did let her go, and was interacting with Chiyo again. She let out a small laugh as she watched the two. Gianna seemed like loads of fun or had the potential to add excitement to her life. Layla took note that Gianna mentioned she was deaf.

Although, she hadn’t forgotten what Dosei had said earlier. Her gaze found Alexei once more. She gave him a mischievous grin as she slowly walked towards him. Layla held her hands out. Did she want to see if they would be mobbed if she irritated anyone who had a crush on him? Maybe. They could always run.

“You are a sight for sore eyes. I didn’t plan to end my day here, but I had to come here to help a friend, and I am glad I did," she said with a wink. She stopped walking once close enough. Layla wiggled her fingers to encourage him to grab her hands. She wondered if he’d be flirty today. It was always a mystery when it came to him.

"Now though, lovely Alexei, let me ask a question. What exactly have you told Dosei about me?” she added.
