Breaking Benjamin - Dance with the Devil

In 1348, a plague swept across Europe, wiping out forty to sixty percent of its population. For two years, the plague spread, causing death and destruction when finally, it vanished. Historians could never determine the cause, although it was blamed on diseased rats running amok in the European world. Documentation was never kept and therefore, the truth behind it all has gone missing. In 1348, creatures from the underworld emerged with a great hunger that could not be satisfied. These creatures were known simply as 'vampires', creatures that drained their victims dry of blood.

In 1350, a handful of humans became aware of their existence and formed groups to hunt these beings, pushing them back to the world from whence they came. They nearly succeeded, causing the creatures to return into a hybernation of sorts. Afraid of their return, the humans who took up the arms began training their children in the ways of killing the creatures should they ever return.

And return they did.

In 1550, nearly two hundred years later, vampires emerged once more to feast on the humans, however; they were unprepared for the humans that were ready for them. For years war ravaged the land, taking many lives, human and vampire. It wasn't until 1610 that the war came to a standstill. Tired and running low on both ends, the humans and vampires came to a truce. Vampires would only feed off of humans that were either on the verge of death, or sentenced to death. Humans would only kill vampires should they break this truce, and for three hundred years, it remained peaceful.

In 1910, a school was built to ensure the truce would remain entact. This school, however, wasn't an ordinary school. The school was turned into a co-ed of sorts, a place where vampires and humans lived together for the school year. Students from all over the world attended in hopes of keeping peace within the world whether they could afford to or if they were on scholarships.

In order to ensure the safety of its' human occupants, the school created prefects to keep everone in line. Human students are unaware of their vampire counterparts, and should they stumble across such a secret, their memories are erased. The Academy is known as Crosss Academy, and this is where our story begins. The school, originally designed to keep students separated, recently went through a remodeling during the summer vacation. It has accomodated a new system, one that would allow one vampire and one human to live in the same room. This would test to see how well the vampires could behave themselves, to restrain from feeding off of the humans.

After all, anything can happen when you live in a world of vampires, especially when there are some vampires who want the world to return to the way it was. Vampires, have they truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there some underlying threat waiting to remerge? Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death.

This role-play takes elements (mainly vampires) from Vampire Knight. All and any credit goes to Matsuri Hino for creation and plot.

Vampires: Vampires are not your traditional vampires, nor are they twilight vampires. These vampiress are immune to the sunlight, however; they can only stand it for so long unless they are a pure-blood. They do not burst but merely fade to ash when they die. Vampires are not vegetarians, meaning they do not feed off of animals. Animal blood is extremely toxic to vampires and should a vampire be desparate enough to drink from an animal, they will die in a matter of hours. There are two different types of vampires. Each one is catagorized in a different field.

Pure-bloods: Pure-blooded vampires are vampires born to vampiric parents and do not have an ounce of human blood tarnishing their heritage. They are very rare and considered an endangered breed. Their blood is considered a delicacy and only feed off of each other, or their mates which are usually a sibling or another family member. There are exceptions to this rule such as if they find a particularly enticing blood. A pure-blood will also have certain abilities that they alone can perform, such as creating ice at will, telepathy, abilities like those. The ability passes on to their children. They alone possess the ability to turn humans into vampires. They are immortal in a sense as they do not die. They can be killed, but it requires a great deal of effort. They can tolerate sunlight indefinitely. It does not affect them like Noble and Mad Vampires.

Noble Vampires: Noble vampires are vampires that were either turned by a pure-blood or their blood was tainted with human blood somewhere down the line. Their blood is considered average and not often saught after unless by Mad vampires. They tend to feed upon their mates and occasionally snack on a human or two. Noble Vampires tend to marry within their own family to keep the human blood from growing any stronger within their bloodline and will often times try to marry into a pure-blood family. Although it is very rare that a pure-blood will take on a Noble as a potential mate. They retain a limited amount of abilities and are not quite as strong as a pure-blood's ability. They are immortal like pure-bloods, but can die a lot easier from special weapons. They can tolerate sunlight but it irritates their skin should they be exposed to it for x-amount of time.

Mad Vampires: The lowest of low: Mad vampires are vampires that were once human and were bitten by a pure-blood. Without drinking from the pure-blood that bit them, these vampires are driven insane with bloodlust and attack any and all creatures, resulting in an excrutiating death should they ingest animal blood. There are not a lot of Mad Vampires in the world as they do tend to feed off of animals more so than humans and are not a threat to the Vampire/human world. They cannot tolerate sunlight...at all...and should they be exposed to it, they will combust and turn to ash. Their blood is highly toxic and will cause any vampire, pure or not, to go into a shock and die.

The Dorms

Before the renovation, the dorms used to be segregated. Vampires had their own rooms in a different part of the campus while humans had their own. After the renovation, the dorms were merged so that the students now have to share their room with either a vampire or a human. Not only are they having to share rooms, each room is not restricted to gender meaning, a female can share a dorm with a male, however; it is strictly advised against. Each room is situated with two shower rooms should a male and female be housed together. The dorm rooms look like this. The windows have been tinted slightly to accomodate the Noble vampires sensitivity to the sunlight.

Feeding Policy
Vampires are provided blood tablets in place of blood. In a sense, it is like synthetic blood, however; it does not give the satisfying liquid justice. Vampires only tolerate it in order to keep the peace. When they drink, they cannot allow humans to taste the beverage and are to claim it is either Tomato juice or something similar.

"We all make mistakes. That is why they say live for the present because tomorrow might not come and yesterday is already too late."

Asuka sighed when people tried to comprehend what she had just told them. They had stopped, she had succeeded with that, however; they still moved about in a frantic pace. It was then a familiar scent caught wind and she spotted Sora hanging from one of the pillars to the main gates. He had spoken a name, or rather the name of a color, which left Asuka slightly confused until the sandpaper-like tongue ran across her cheek and the soft mewling of the cat left Asuka slightly amused.

"It was no wonder you seemed familiar," she stated in a dry tone towards the feline. She watched as the people began to form and left the area. As she watched as the last of the people rode off, a terrible feeling soared through her body moments before the explosions went off. All around her she could see the buildings and gates collapse. It was the mainly the main building and the dormitories that fell. Next, it was the gates. Before she even knew what happened, Asuka found her body mid-air, pushing Sora from the gate he had latched himself onto seconds before it fell. She hadn't known why exactly she acted, all she knew was that she needed to.

He was a pure-blood, and his reflexes would have probably kicked in for him, however; that thought did not cross her mind when she acted. She could feel the debris from the collapsing pillar hit her shoulder and she winced. It felt as if it had knocked it out of place, but the pain was nothing to her as adrenaline pumped through her veins. She was lucky enough to have avoided being punctured since if she were, her blood would be spilled. She couldn't have that now could she? She winced as she grabbed her shoulder and glanced at Sora. She merely nodded in his direction before taking off again. She pressed against her shoulder and noticed it was fine, just slightly bruised now. Even for being half vampire, her human side tended to get the best of her when it came to things such as this.

Snow, I need you to come back, she stated with a calm mind. She needed his help to find the students and teachers that were undoubtedly underneath the rubble. That was when a scent filled the air. She knew who it belonged to and immediately her head snapped in the direction. Roses. It was the scent of roses tainted with a metallic, iron smell, and yet; it was pleasing to her senses. She shook the sudden want to taste it to the back of her mind as she made her way towards the building.

Asuka, he's been hurt with an anti-vampire weapon. He won't heal properly from that, you need to do something, she could hear Snow state. What could she do? She was just a prefect, and her attention was needed else where. There were students probably trapped beneath the debris that needed her help. Haruka won't make it with him on her own, he continued to banter her. Before she could retort, a hand laid itself on her shoulder as she peered into honey brown eyes. Hayate had several bruises on his arms and face, however; there were none too serious at the moment.

"Go, we will take care of this here," were the words that left Hayate's mouth as she slowly nodded. She took off in the direction where she had last seen Haruka and Zenith went. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, which was an amazing feat considering she was half-vampire. All she had to do was follow the scent of roses and it would lead her to where Zenith and Haruka were located. It hadn't taken her long to approach the duo and noticed the pure-blood just as he told Haruka to leave him for it wasn't safe. He was right, the allure of his blood would undoubtedly arouse some of the other vampires. Even if they respected him, if enough vampires banned together, they would probably over take the pure-blood and try to drain him dry.

"You were attacked by an anti-vampire weapon. You need blood to heal that wound or else it will not heal properly. And those blood tablets will not suffice for it," she stated as she walked with a brisk pace. If what she had witnessed through Snow's eyes was true, then Haruka was lucky to have the pure-blood there to protect her even if he had not knowingly did so. She stopped inches away from the pure-blood and stared at him, her eyes flickering between crimson and jade. As much as she didn't want to, she would have to if he needed it. "You can't feast on a human less you risk turning them, and I know you will object to this," she continued as she pulled her arm out in front of her.

"But if you want that wound to heal and live, you may take mine," she stated in a rather eerily calm voice. "I do not risk exposure like they do," she continued. She hadn't exactly thought this plan through. For years she tried to hide her secret, keep it unknown to the world, but here she was offering her blood to the pure-blood in front of her. Maybe it was because Haruka was around and, even if she didn't show it, this pure-blood vampire in front of her would become an influential importance to Haruka's life. She wasn't doing this out of pity either. She might have regretted biting Haruka, but she wasn't going to allow a pure-blood under her watch to die because of an idiot.

“Once, I reached for that kindness. I fear I might never want to let go of you.”

Despite the pain he was without doubt experiencing from the grave wound, Zenith remained completely indifferent. His eyes of amber yellow remained a void from any kind of emotions. The same could also be said about the usual expression of his face, an irremovable blank mask. One would wonder how he had perfected such the manner of burying his feelings with the depths of his being. Thus, it was inevitable for some people to query if the illustrious pure-blood even had such emotions to begin. Is he even capable to do so? In the end, these questions remained as they are with no answers to put them to rest. For, the said pure-blood remained a mystery to them even as of now.

Although, it could not be hidden that his body was already suffering the effects from his injury. His movements had lost a bit of its usual stoic elegance. Upon closed inspection, his gait was slightly slower than the usual. His complexion was far more paler than it should be. Breathing still remained even but if one was completely attuned, they could notice a discrepancy in its pattern. Such details that could be easily ignored by many showed the real impact of such an attack he had received from the intruder of a boy. However, this is not what the pure-blood was worried about. The extent of his wound was far from his concerns. It was the blood that continued to fall from the hole created by the blade on his stomach. The scent of roses which brought a seductive and alluring desire to feed.

Even more so, it was not only limited to the senses of the vampires as humans are drawn to it as well. This is the trait of what they call Blood of Roses. It goes without doubt that the Night Class respects him whether by his status or for other reasons. However, they are still vampires that could easily lose control. He knew of the thirst which exists deep within. It is a monster that cannot easily be caged. This is something he knew very well. With that knowledge, he must quickly remove himself from this place. It was without doubt especially with Haruka near him. He could not have her expose to further danger at his expense.

Clutching his wound which still refuses to heal, Zenith put much distance between him and Haruka. If the girl followed him or not, he cannot do anything about it for there was another one. This one impeded his notion to depart. It was none other than the sole prefect of Cross Academy, Asuka Fujiwara. Judging by his observation, she had been in some sort of a scuffle due to the dirt clinging on her form and some bruises and scratches present on her skin. It is understandable herding the panicked crowed along with the series of explosions. He would have inquired about her condition, yet it was not the proper time. Time was of the essence for him to leave. But, the words that spilled from the prefect's mouth caused him to fully stop on his tracks.

It is true what Asuka was stating. He had opted to simply take the entirety of his blood pill supplies. It would not be as effective but the pills could numb the pain and usher his regeneration ability to start and counteract the effect of the anti-vampire weapon. Regardless, it would be painstakingly slow even compared to the normal regeneration rate of humans. In the end, it would only be a temporary measure and his natural instinct would threaten to take over for him to survive which he would not allow.

Thinking of the very logical option to heal his wound, Zenith cannot help but greatly reject it. The blood which he would only allow himself to taste would be hers and hers alone. This will be his atonement to starve himself forever. Furthermore, he could not handle the fact of injecting his poison on to an innocent human for his selfishness. It is why he had instinctively stepped back a bit when Asuka presented her arm even stating that she would not be turned by him. He had yet to confirm what she is, a person who walked in between. So, there must be truth in those words. But, why is she doing such a thing? Is this her penance for biting Haruka? Is this simply an act as a prefect? Either way, this was still what one would call going out of her way.

His vision was now affected as well. It seemed to be getting blurry due to large amount of blood flowing out of his body. Nevertheless, nothing showed on his face. His eyes flickered very briefly to a soft pink before returning to its usual radiant gold hue. The monster within was clawing at its cage now. Looking behind him, he saw Haruka not too far. This must be another form of his selfishness. Returning his attention to Asuka, he pulled her towards him and held her close to him before moving at a speed normal for his kind. He jumped towards the roofs and landed just at the ledge of the highest tower. The spurt of speed forced him to bleed further but he is a pure-blood so, he could handle it. But, he did not want to show such a frightening scene in front of Haruka or to place Asuka in a delicate position if there could be witnesses.

Releasing Asuka from his hold, he then placed his hands on her shoulder. "Forgive me." For the first time, those eyes of gold reflected something and it was sadness which was heartbreaking even if it was just a small opening. Once that was stated, Zenith lowered his head and tried very hard to contain his monster from being released. He did not want to hurt this girl who wanted to help him. As much as possible, he wanted this experience to be as gentle as possible. His lips hovered so closely to where her jugular vein should be. Slowly as much as possible, he licked it to soften the skin so upon piercing it with his fangs would not be as painful. After doing so, his fangs protruded from his mouth and implanted itself on the tender skin. His eyes turned into crimson gold. Soon, blood overflowed from the punctured holes as he began to drink his fill.

In this position, she could not see how he feeds on her. For, he really did not want anyone to see. Closing his eyes, he savored the fresh blood filling his throat. A sensation the blood pills would never provide. Even more so, the flashes of memories entering his consciousness. He did not want to pry but poured within him like a flood. There was also the oddly yet intoxicating taste of her blood. This was truly dangerous. Once, he felt his wound beginning to regenerate he exceedingly prevented himself to stop. Fortunately winning, he removed his fangs from her neck. Although, he did not fail to lick some of the blood left on it. After doing so, he slowly faced Asuka once more. She looked paler than usual which was probably brought upon his feeding.

His face was once more of the emotionless facade. The crimson tint that was featured on his eyes were now gone. He would not need blood anymore from her. The blood pills could handle the rest. He was grateful to her. "Thank you, Ms. Fujiwara." He then reached to touch her cheek so delicately. "I hope this would never happen again." After stating that, the pure-blood placed Asuka to sleep. The prefect needs to rest knowing her, she would declare that she is fine and all. When it was done, he caught her before falling to the ground. He then made way to the dormitories finding Asuka's room without much trouble but not before stopping on his to get some blood pills and change of clothes. Once inside her room, he laid her down on the bed. Making sure, she was comfortable.

The pure-blood then took a chair to stay by her side. It was the least he could do while doing so he took a large amount of blood pills and knew the girl would be needing blood as well. After all, he took quite a huge quantity due to his injury. So, when she wakes up he would return the favor. After all, the girl revealed herself to him. It was only proper for him to do the same. And just like that, he allowed the events of this day to flutter to a side for now. Sleep soon easily took hold of him as he sat there while he entered slumber just like that.

“Would it hurt to die?”

As Haruka watched the scene before her, more explosions racked the grounds of Cross Academy, destroying nearly half of the school. The ground shook violently and she fought to keep her footing and her eyes on Zenith and the boy who had no name.
As the grounds shook, the browned haired boy glanced over his shoulder at her, red eyes meeting blue as a crooked smile graced his lips, building up the unease within herself. She knew right then and there that she should have turned around and left this to Zenith, but she couldn't bring her to do such a a thing, it may sound foolish, but she wanted nothing more then to help the fair haired Vampire, but she couldn't she was just a human, what could she have possibly done to help now? Te boy turned back towards Zenith before speaking. "I'll accept your payment wholeheartedly."

The boy moved faster than Haru could keep track of, attacking Zenith head on, but it was easily blocked. "Aren't we strong? Let's put more effort." The boy said, his voice laced with amusement before delivering a roundhouse kick, which Zenith blocked with his other arm, but that was what the boy was hoping for. "Caught you." The boy hissed before electric currents expanded throughout the blade Zenith held, scorching his hand and soon causing an explosion around the two of them, a blast of wind swept her hair back and blew bits of rock and dirt towards her, making her throw up her arms to cover her face and shutting her eyes tightly.

"You do not disappoint. The sweetest of all purebloods." Haruka blinked as the smoke cleared, revealing that both Vampire's were not harmed in anyway, but also reveling strange globes of bluish-fire that surrounded them."Raising the dead? How fitting." As soon as the words left his mouth, haunting cries came from strange glowing globes. However, Zenith never responded to the boy, instead the globes were directed in an attack towards the boy causing even more explosions and now where the boy had stood smoke was all that could be seen, but Haruka knew deep down that hoping the boy had died from such an attack was only wishful thinking. The could of smoke prevented Haru was being able to see Zenith, and worry began to build up within herself. "You're no fun, let's make it so."

That's when it happened, the boy jumped backwards and landed in front of her, a horrifying smile placed on his lips as her eyes widened. He made a move to seemingly cut her into half, however, Zenith took the blow, moving in front of her before she could blink and allowing the blade to sink into his stomach."Z-Zenith!" Her voice was a mere whisper compared to the boys. "So predictable." The boy laughed as he pulled out the blade, no mercy being shown in the act. Blood fell to the ground in a sicking way and Zenith still stood in front of her, bleeding at a rapid rate. Zenith held his wound while the boy licked the blood from his weapon, making her stomach turn. "They are right. You're blood is indeed the best." The boy said with a malicious smile. "You won't mind me having all of it right?" Haruka's eyes widened as she realized that he was about to attack once more in what would be the finishing blow, but then, he stopped. "Well, there is always next time."The boy said with clear disappointment before he disappeared with the gush of wind. Once the wind was gone, along with the boy, Zenith turned towards Haruka and stared down at her, but all she could do was stare at his wound. "Go. You are not safe here." He said before walking past her.

She was lost in her own mind and missed the words that was shared between Asuka and Zenith not to far ahead of her, but she didn't miss the look he sent over his shoulder in her direction before they both disappeared, leaving her alone in a destroyed field that used to be part of a forest. Haruka didn't know how to feel, he had saved her, and yet there was nothing she could do to repay him, there was nothing she could do to help Zenith like Asuka could, because she was only human, she didn't belong in his world, it would end up killing her. Haru looked down at the ground, where Zenith's blood still lay, and her stomach tuned once more, because she realized that she would have to die if she was ever going to be able to live in his world, in this new world full of monster, or she would end up getting other's killed.

Haruka clenched her fist's and stood there for a good half an hour before she slowly begun to make her way back towards her dorm. Half of the school was in ruins, and the other half was in panic, all she felt like doing was sleeping, she felt tired and weak, like she hadn't slept in months, and Haruka felt alone. She had no family, no friends, and now her school, which was filled with Vampires, was being threatened by Vampires. What kind of twisted fairy tale was this? Surly she was never supposed to find out about this strange new world, because if she was, shouldn't she have known the second she thought about entering this place, shouldn't all of the Day Class student's known about he danger they would be putting themselves in by joining this school? That they were all risking their lives? Shouldn't the world be made aware of what was going on behind the vial of lies we had all set up? No... If the world did know everything would just be worst, perhaps things were better off like this.

She sighed quickly as she opened her dorm room, which she hadn't been in for awhile, and was highly surprised to find the room more populated than it had been in a few weeks. Asuka lay in her bed, sleeping peacefully, and beside her bed, in a chair, lay Zenith, who had also given into sleep. Haruka stood there for a few minuets, blinking at the scene in front of her, before she silently walked into the room and shut the door. She moved around the room like a gentle breeze, barely making any noise as she pulled out clean clothes for herself, which consisted of a long pink baggy t-shirt that went a little past her mid thigh, and new under garments. She silently went into the bathroom and showered quickly before changing back into her pajamas and walking back into the room. Both Zenith and Asuka were still asleep, but as Haru threw in dirty clothes into the bin by the door, she felt worry for both of them, they both looked pale, and ill, most likely because they both had lost a lot of blood. She sighed once more and grabbed the comforter from her bed and gently placed it over Zenith's body and re-covered Asuka with the sheets she had kicked off before she went over to her own bed and curled up, hugging her pillow to her chest and staring up at the ceiling. She allowed her thoughts to wander for awhile before sleep took her.

When she woke up she would speak with both Zenith and Asuka, she had to thank Zenith for protecting her and she would have to speak with Asuka about something, a way to maybe help the Prefect...Haruka was tired of being alone, and she didn't want to be scared, or angry with her roommate any longer.

"The decision I made, was it truly the right thing to do? "

Asuka stared at the pure-blood in front of her. It seemed he was having his own inner turmoil about whether to accept her offer or not. Honestly, she didn't blame him. While she had remained calm, she was in fact wrecked with thoughts that kept plaguing her. She had tried for so many years to contain her secret, and yet; here she was offering blood to help the vampire sustain his life. It did not help matters when his blood had continued to spill from the open wound and continued to assault the area they were in with the smell of roses. She could feel the itch in the back of her throat to latch onto the vampire and drain his blood, however; the flickering of crimson and jade displayed her fight for control.

Her human side would eventually win, as she turned away from the vampire. She had more control over her thirst than she gave herself credit for. She could hear Snow scolding her slightly as her face remained the same as Zenith's: stoic and unwavering. She had seen his step backwards and knew that he was rejecting the notion. Whatever pride or stubbornness he had that kept him from accepting her token would have to be pushed aside if he wanted to live. She could see Haruka in the distance approaching and quickly glanced back at Zenith. It was in a moments notice that she found herself pulled towards the pure-blood. Her eyes widened slightly before she found her surroundings blurred.

He was running, and that caused her to worry a bit. With such strain on the body, it would cause his wound to bleed profusely. She sighed as she leaned into the pure-blood and shut her eyes. The wind was irritating them and she didn't want to be blinded by something so menial. When they came to a stop, they were atop a tower. She pulled away slightly, however; his hold was firm as he held her shoulders and she glanced into the flickering irises of gold and vermilion. He had asked her to forgive him as he nestled her neck and sank his fangs into the tender area. She winced at the pain but remained where she was.

She could feel her bottom lip quivering and the salty tears forming in her eyes. She was glad that he could not see them as she forced them back. When he removed himself, she could feel a slight shiver run down her back as he licked some of the blood off of her neck. She had to keep herself remaining calm, after all. She just revealed parts of herself to a vampire, a pure-blood no less, that she had no inkling to do so. Shouldn't have been this way Asuka, she could hear Snow as Zenith thanked her. Before she could reply, she felt slightly dizzy; a side affect of how much blood he actually took. She couldn't even see or feel the hand that touched her cheek so delicately as a warmth covered her. Slowly, her eyes lulled to the notion of sleep and before her eyes could close, she briefly thought if Sora was okay. She had left him by himself after that small incident.

"You...'re...wel...come," she slurred out before her eyes closed. Snow, hovering above the two, had watched the scene unfold. He could see the memories that poured from Asuka as the pure-blood took her blood. Although he wouldn't have objected to her using her blood to heal a vampire, the fact that she even considered it caused the avian bird slight worry. How would this pure-blood react to the fact that she wasn't human, and yet; she wasn't vampire. A creature caught between both worlds was never heard of in vampire lore and for her to expose such an intimate secret, what was really going through her mind? Sora was a different story. He was a pure-blood that Snow had grown attached to because of his personality. Zenith, he was the complete opposite. He closed himself off from people by choice where as Sora had only closed people off because of his persona.

He was brutally honest and people couldn't seem to handle the thought of being told otherwise. Zenith appeared as if he were trying to cover something up, something no one was supposed to know. Whatever the reason, Snow shook his head as he followed from behind as the pure-blood took his master to her dorm room. He had spotted Haruka not too far behind and decided to keep an eye on her as well. Asuka wouldn't forgive him or herself if something happened to the girl she was growing attached to. What are you doing Asuka, he stated to himself as he landed on a branch located just outside the shared dorm room. His ice-blue gaze never left his master's sleeping form nor the pure-blood that slept in the chair.

Bright pink eyes stared down into jade colored ones, a smile plastered upon the face of a woman. Her golden locks flickered with the morning breeze as her hand squeezed tightly upon the young jade-eyed girl. She pulled the summer hat further down her eyes as to block out the bright sun and seemed content. Asuka smiled childishly as she glanced up at her mother. She seemed so happy and carefree that it rubbed off on Asuka. She wanted to be like her mother when she was older, and before she could speak, she felt herself being ripped from her mothers grasp. A laughter filled the air, almost as if they were a baying hyena.

Asuka was frightened, her eyes wide and on the verge of tears. This laughter, this voice...she's heard it before. But who did it belong to? She glanced around in a haze, the only thing in sight were a pair of eyes staring back at her. They were tilted upwards in a display of amusement, but that wasn't what captured her attention. The color, the eyes were a pale blue, almost transient in a sense until one of them flickered into a crimson dye. She saw lips moving, saying something to her, but she couldn't understand them. The fangs that protruded from them held a slight fear in her mind and for a moment, it seemed as if they would consume her.

Asuka woke with a startled breath, sitting up rapidly in her bed and regretting it immediately. Her vision faded from in between as she felt light headed. She groaned slightly as she felt a cold sweat encompass her body. She wiped a few beads from her forehead as she glanced around. She was in her room. How did she get to her room? What happened last night? These questions haunted her mind until her gaze fell upon the sleeping form of the one pure-blood she remembered seeing in a mangled state last night. A frown marred her face as her hands subconsciously went for her neck. She could feel the puncture wounds were healed already, but that didn't account for the dizzy, weakness that filled her body.

He took more blood than what was necessary, she heard Snow state as she peered out the window to him. She frowned slightly. She gave blood to the vampire? When did she do that? Why couldn't she remember that? It was last night, after the explosions. You are just fatigued from the lack of blood coursing through your veins. You need to replenish it, he stated, causing her frown to deepen. She couldn't do it, not with Haruka in the room. Sure, she already knew about the vampire world, and it was technically Asuka's fault, but she was...embarrassed to say the least. It was revealing a side she never wanted anyone to know. And yet you let him feed on you? Hypocrite, she could feel the slight disappointment in Snow's voice when he spoke.

What would you have had me do then Snow? You were the one that said to help him, and I couldn't let his nature take over. What if he had subconsciously attacked Haruka? Do you know how hard it is to resist blood when injured so deeply, she retorted. Because she was still human, anti-vampire weapons didn't work on her. Her human blood sought to that protection and she was slightly grateful. She had heard how painful it could be to be injured with one of those weapons, and it terrified Asuka when someone had accidentally attacked her with it. She laid back in her bed, staring at the ceiling as the thoughts plagued her mind. It was her duty as a prefect to keep the Day class students safe, but with the merge, she was also tasked to keep the Night Class safe as well.

She wouldn't break that oath she made. Is that the truthful reason why you did what you did? Or is it just that that side of you wants out? You cannot keep it from consuming you Asuka, and if you don't find a way, you might be the one that needs to be kept away to keep those humans of yours safe, Snow badgered her as she slipped an arm over her eyes, cutting of her connection to Snow as she laid in bed. She would think of something, but for now, if Zenith woke and had questions, she would be obligated to answer them.

“Revealing oneself is truly a do or die situation, which makes me wonder what will I choose.”

He liked it here. It was comforting and completely serene. As if, there was nothing that could bring it harm. The birds sang a chorus while the blooming spring flowers filled the area so gently. Yes, this was a good place to be. Eyes of gold looked at the blue skies while the sun shone with noble pride. His sight was only obscured when another pair of amber-hued eyes looked at him with amusement. He liked being reflected by those precious eyes. "You like the sun too much Saint. Are you planning to have a tan?" His hand reached for that person's face which connected. "Amalthea." The way he spoke that name was like a precious artifact. In response, she leaned to his touch and coyly asked. "Hmm... Did you miss me that much?" Without a moment to soon, he answered. "Yes." This was rewarded with a light giggle. "You should learn to tease and lie, baby brother."

There was a moment of silence between the two before he spoke once more. "Why?" His question made Amalthea placed her face closer to his as those eyes of similar gold flickered with subtle meaning. "It can mean between life and death. Plus, it can save you." Hearing the answer, he then placed his arms around her neck to pull her closer to him. Their lips just a breath away from each other. "I do not need it. Only you can save me." Amalthea smiled at this. "Silly Saint, don't regret it." She then closed the gap between them as their lips were sealed in a kiss. A fluttering sensation enough to fuel a deeper bond and, he really did not mind at all.

***

And with that, Zenith returned to reality. His eyes opened so softly like a shy blossoming flower before it revealed those topaz-colored eyes of nothingness. It had been a long time since he had a dream with such vivid details about a distant memory. Moreover, a world of the past where Amalthea was present. A world he would like to have back if it was only within this world's logic. He would have done everything and without a moment of a hesitation. Even his beliefs and pride would be cast away, if it mean that she she would exist again. Nothing else mattered. Yet, it was not meant to be. That was the hardest thing to accept despite what anyone says otherwise.

Dismissing such depressing thoughts, he alerted himself with the situation at hand. Looking at the comforter around his frame. The distinctive scent provided him to who the owner of such an object. It was the human girl, Haruka Yamazaki. Even more so, he could sense her presence within the room. He did not find that surprising or even a bit trifling. This was her room and should only be proper for her to be here. Unlike his presence, he delicately removed the blanket around him as if it was treasured antiquity. When done, he stood from his seat and approached the bed where Haruka was without a warm cloth to cover her. The girl was too good which he could also say the same with the prefect.

Ever so gently, he placed the comforter on her form as he watched her continue to sleep. The girl definitely needed the rest judging from the emotional turmoil she had been placed by knowing the world of the night. He was proud of her not forgetting but at the same time, he was concerned if she could truly continue without breaking from her light. After a few moments, he turned his back at the human girl and returned to the side of the prefect. However, he looked at the window. The sun was definitely up and about. Yet, what he was interested in was the snow white owl which was perched warily on the branch of a tree. He knew of the avian creature. It was the prefect's familiar. Such notion came from the memories that he had received last night.

Polite as ever, Zenith gave the owl, who he knew as Snow, a polite greeting with a bow of the head. After doing so, he then focused his attention to the prefect which was now awake without a doubt. He could sense it well. The girl needed to replenish herself. It is his fault that the girl was low on her blood. As such, he procured some blood pills and concocted a drink for her. "Good morning, Ms. Fujiwara." He started to alert the prefect who seemed to be profoundly bothered about something. Well, he did have many matters that could be the topic of her thoughts. "You need to drink this." He offered the glass to her with his usual stone-faced expression.

But his next words were rather unexpected or may be it was not. "If it would not suffice, I will provide your needs as compensation." It was spoken with a spill of an emotion and with its pristine monotone. However, it would be wrong to judge his words as untrue for not even once did Zenith ever not do what he had say and he had always mean every statement that came out of his lips. Looking at the prefect more carefully, he could conclude what ails her the most is the truth about her identity. He was not that surprised about it since he had seen a portion of it from the memories of Haruka. Now, he had connected the pieces to the prefect's memories and feelings. Then, there was the statement he had heard that night from his roommate. It now all makes sense.

"Your secret is not mine to speak of." He stated wanting to deliver a semblance of peace of mind to the girl who might be expecting a barrage of questions from him. Zenith was never the kind to pry and would only provide insights to bring a certain point of view. Even then, he would allow the other party to decide entirely. As for him, he would be there to watch over them in the distance. It was better that way. "You are troubled, I can tell about who you are and what you are." He continued. "I dislike what I am however, this is who I am. Do not follow in my footsteps." There was no tone of falsity as he delivered his words with such clarity and stillness. "Ms. Fujiwara will still be Ms. Fujiwara despite of what you are. I believe you have the strength to overcome the things you dislike about yourself."

He was not sure if his words were bringing his point across or was it causing further confusion about his opinion about her rare state. Yet, he continued on. "It will be hard to find things you like about yourself when you are neither as a whole. I know how difficult it is to like oneself. How could you find the things good about you when all you could see are the terrible ones." Slowly, he placed a hand on the prefect's head. It was a comforting gesture he had learned from Amalthea. "I believe it is much better when someone tells you that it is okay to be you. Even more so, when someone tells you are liked as you are. Then, you can learn to see the good things about yourself. It is then you can try harder to accept everything about you and be you proudly." Removing his hand on her head, Zenith remained stoic as ever. "In the end, I like Ms. Fujiwara. There is not one thing I would change about you."

"A choice between the mind a choice between the heart should be left to the one that holds them both."

Snow watched as the pure-blood rose from his slumber and moved around in the shared room of Asuka and Haruka. His eyes never left the pure-blood, instead, opting to study his movements and his gait. He seemed to have regained his composure and his strength. Thief, Snow wanted to state, but knew it wouldn't be proper. After all, it was Asuka who offered him the blood in the first place. He merely nodded to acknowledge the pure-bloods gesture before ruffling his feathers. He appeared like a white cotton ball now as he closed his eyes. He didn't need to see whatever decision Asuka would make with the silver-haired male.

Asuka's thoughts were interrupted by the shifting of a body through her room. She knew it was Zenith, walking to give Haruka back the comforter that had been placed on him during the night before returning to her side of the bed. She kept her arm against her forehead when he greeted her, removing it only when he spoke of drinking something. She glanced at him, his expression unreadable as she sat up slowly in her bed. She could see the contents of the cup and hesitantly, she took it from his grasp. She glanced over towards the opposite side of the room, sighing with relief that Haruka was still asleep. She returned her gaze to Zenith before peering down at the blood-filled cup. A frown marred her face as he continued to speak.

"That," she paused, placing both hands on the cup as she closed her eyes. "won't be necessary," she continued, placing the cup to the side of her bed stand. Her body may have lost a lot of blood, but it only felt as if she had donated it. With some solid food and a few more hours of rest, she would be fine. At least, she hoped she would. She could feel Snow pecking at the barrier she pulled up, trying to tell her not to be an idiot. Drink the blood, she mocked to herself in Snow's voice as a light smile pulled at her lips. She had kept her gaze on her hands folded in front of her as Zenith continued to speak, causing the smile to once again be pulled into a frown.

"I...don't dislike what I am," she began, clutching the sheets a bit with her hands. "I dislike the fact that I can't be a whole. I am neither one or the other. I am like a shade of gray. I do not have a light, and I do not have a darkness," she stated. In a sense it was true. She had both worlds constantly at a battle inside of her and it felt as if she were in a neutral coloring. She couldn't have light in her because of her vampiric side, and she couldn't have dark because of her human side. She was what black and white created. She was gray. She almost wanted to laugh at his next choice of words. She would always be herself. It sounded like déjà vu. Sora had spoken almost the same words to her that night she bit Haruka. With that thought, she allowed herself to smile again. Her attention was captured when Zenith placed a hand on her head, almost in a comforting gesture. She tilted her head a bit to stare at the pure-blood, his eyes never betraying the stoic facade of his face. How could she find the good in the bad things?

"If someone were to say it were okay, then would it be honestly okay? What if someone told you that it was okay to take the life of another, that it was just you being yourself? That it was okay to sustain your life because the life you took from had no important significance to the world?" she found herself stating. She grasped the sheets tighter, her knuckles turning white in the process, however; her body calmed itself when he spoke the last of his words. A light laugh spilled softly into the room as she shook her head. "You have an odd look on life Rosenkreuz," she stated as she glanced at the pure-blood. She offered a smile before she felt her eyes becoming heavy.

"Thank you, Zenith," she stated as the lull of sleep became a bit stronger. "You," she began as her vision began to blur, "should...try," her words were coming out half slurred as the person in front of her became nothing but an image colliding with other colors. "smiling more," she concluded before she lost her vision and fell to the lull of sleep.

Perhaps she should have taken the stupid drink on her nightstand.

“It is different for many but in the end, I believe we are simply looking for a place to call home.”

Odd... It was not a different or a foreign concept to him. There had been others that used the very same word to describe him from different angles. He did not mind it at all as they simply shared their opinions about him. As such, he is rather thankful to know their thoughts whether it to be real or not. Furthermore, it was not like he could not agree to such a description. There is truth about that. Yet, it does make him wonder if that was either a good thing or a bad thing. Perhaps, it was both and then may be again, not. Just like two sides of coin, yet can never be separated to make a whole. But as long as someone accepts those traits, he will probably be happy.

Seeing the prefect laugh and smile at his words, it was good to bring some sense of comfort to her. Although, he was not certain whether it would mean anything or not to her on the long run. All that mattered to him for now, she was feeling a bit better. For that, it was worth all of it. Soon, he noticed the girl slowly loosing ground in a battle against sleep. It made him wonder if this is how he looks like when he futilely tries to fight off the kiss of slumber. It was rather endearing in a sense or perhaps, it is because he had just realized something profound. Looking over his shoulder, his eyes of golden yellow glanced at the still sleeping Haruka and then to the prefect once more.

It seemed that women have more inner strength than men. Well, this is from his personal experiences and observations. Hearing the prefect's words and Haruka's decision, they both hold a strength they have yet to recognized as such. Once, they do. These women would be brilliant than anyone could ever hope for. This much he was certain as long as nothing terrible happens to them. It was enviable almost but, he stopped that thought there. Soon, the prefect had completely succumbed to rest which should be for the good. She did not drink so, to recuperate would be the next best solution.

Arranging the comforter on the prefect's form, the pure-blood then recalled her fluttering comment about him to try smiling more. A smile. At some point, he had wondered if there was something marvelous about a gesture that anyone could do. As such, there was nothing special about it. But even then, he felt wholly contented when the person, which is most important, would smile at him even about the littlest things. It was uplifting and nice to see, but it would never happen again. No matter what he does that person will never come back and smile at him. As such, it did give a sense of emptiness. It seemed a smile was not completely unneeded. But, he had yet to feel the need to do so. Perhaps, someday...

"Good night, Ms. Fujiwara." Zenith greeted as he had decided to leave the room to give the two girls enough rest. They will be facing each other, hopefully, it ends on a good note. Returning the chair to its proper location, he looked at the window which gave a good view of the room. It was ideal for the avian familiar. As such, Snow was still on the same branch and would likely watch over his own Master, and even more so for Haruka. Once, he was done making certain that the prefect is comfortable in her sleep. He proceeded to Haruka's side and did the same thing. The girl was once more dragged into such dreadful matters. Even then, he hoped for her to overcome it. "Good night, Ms. Yamazaki."

With that done, the pure-blood took one last look to Snow and gave a polite nod of the head as a means of goodbye. After doing so, he left the room without doing any thing else. Walking along the nearly empty hallways, he would do an assessment on the damages caused to the entire academy along with the casualties to the students due to the series of explosions by those mysterious people. What do they want in particular? He had no conclusions to give at all. But it was then, he heard the sprinkle of tears from the sky. Looking at the window near him, he saw the drizzle of the rain. Yet, the one thing which took his attention was the roses around the bench area, there a fully bloomed rose existed with the gems of the rain which served as its souvenir continued to trail on its petals.

“You’re better off without me, and I’m better off alone. It’s always been that way.”

The series of explosions was heralded by a slight tremor in the gate, and the only thing that stopped him from moving was the fact that he could see Fujiwara tensing to do the same. To his surprise, she slammed into his side, carrying them both away from the blast radius and scraping her shoulder in the process. His first thought was that it had been an incredibly stupid thing of her to do. He was a pureblood vampire, with reflexes honed to the sharpest of points and senses sharper than any other of his kind, made so by a lifetime of forced growth and training.

His next thought was that there were now two people in the world who would have done something like that for him, and only one who wasn’t family. It was perhaps this thought that motivated him to change their trajectory midair, grasping the woman’s shoulders and rotating them both so that he bore the brunt of the landing on his feet, catlike in his grace. His boots met the earth and he slid backwards, but he never lost his balance, and once they’d come to a stop, he released the prefect, who rushed off in another direction.

He supposed there wasn’t much he could to over there, and so he devoted his attention to hurling aside great chunks of rubble and dogging out what survivors he could. Thanks to their actions, the majority of the people around here had been far enough from the gate to avoid the blast, but that could not be said for everyone at all the other sites, and he went around to each, pulling great slabs of stone and mortar aside until everyone who could be saved had been. Why? Well, he wasn’t all that sure. Perhaps he’d simply done it because it seemed like it needed doing, and he wasn’t one to leave the work to other people when he wanted to do something. Maybe he just did it because it probably fell within the parameters of the job he’d been assigned for the day.

Either way, he pulled people out of wreckage until there were none left, and then he headed back to his room for the day, washing the brick dust out of his hair and swapping clothes. He allowed himself some sleep after that, taking it in the forest this time, up a tree and out of sight. After that, he ignored the pressing desire to check up on Fujiwara and told himself that what he needed to do was fly for a while, so he transformed and did that, circling the campus of Cross Academy from far above, keen raptor-eyes picking out every detail of the cleanup.

Swooping down a bit, he alighted on a random dorm windowsill, from which he had a decent view. If he’d bothered to look inside, he would have just seen his roommate leaving, and laughed at the absurdity of his fortune, that he would pick this windowsill. As it was, that happened anyway, as he landed right next to Snow, the white owl.

Well, that just figured, didn’t it? Turning his own hook-beaked head, he fixed the owl with an obsidian stare. What happened? After she left? Since he was here, he might as well ask. Besides, the information could be useful, contain something about those strangers and their motives for staging such an attack.

He wasn’t asking because he cared. Was he?

"These feelings bubbling inside will save you if you let it."

Snow remained in his puffed, cotton-ball appearance. He had opened his eyes in time to see the pure-blood create a comfortable sleep for both Asuka and Haruka. He tilted his head a bit, trying to assess what the pure-blood was truly doing, however; before his thoughts could linger much further on the matter, another presence appeared. He glanced to the intruder, eyes remaining large and stoic until they glanced into voidless eyes. The black bird beside him was in fact the other pure-blood he had become fond of. As such, if he could have smiled, he would have grinned. He had just inquired about the previous night, more so what happened with his master.

"And when did Sora become one to inquire about another's well-being?" Snow mocked in a teased voice before shaking. His tone then switched to one of disappointment, although it was partially his fault. "She allowed her secret to be shared with that roommate of yours. He was injured by an anti-vampire weapon," he began as he turned his attention to the sleeping form of his master. "It was a severe wound and he took a lot of blood from her," he concluded. He could see the pale shade still lingering around her being.

"She needs blood, but the idiot is too stubborn," he sighed. She truly was an idiot for not accepting Zenith's help, or in this case his offer of the blood tablet drink. There was nothing he could do to force her to drink the blood, however; it did not disuade the fact that he was worried about her well-being. She couldn't rely on rest and food alone when her vampire side needed the nutrients of the blood substitue, or blood itself, to help regenerate the loss of such a large amount. Although he had told her to help the injured pure-blood, he didn't mean offer her blood as a means to help. He truly worried about his master's mind process.

"I saw what she did to you, pushing you off of the gate when the explosions happened," he stated, returning his attention towards Sora. A sly glint in his eyes sparkled before it quickly disappeared. He had also had the pleasure of hearing her thoughts when she acted as such. "You should know, she actually called you by your given name, I wonder why she did that?" he finished before closing his eyes and chuckling to himself. Asuka may not have been fond of the pure-blood, but in a sense, she still cared enough about his well-being that she actually put herself in harms way to help him despite his heritage. "I wonder if she would extend to you the same courtesy as your roommate if you were injured so deeply," Snow mused darkly to himself although he stated it out loud.

Asuka stirred in her sleep, her hands gripping tightly to the sheets. She opened her eyes slowly, allowing them to adjust to the darkened room and glanced towards the window. She spotted Snow and another avian creature and noticed it was raining outside. Although the soft caress of rain drops beat a steady tune, her thoughts were elsewhere. She pulled herself up to sit in an upright position. She glanced around the room and noticed Haruka was still asleep. She took a deep breath before removing herself from the bed and glanced at her clothing. She had dried blood on the corner of her collar from when he fed from her and her clothes still had dirt and small debris from the explosions. She sighed before walking towards her closet to grab fresh clothes.

She was still a prefect after all and she needed to attend to her duties, regardless of the faint feeling she was experiencing due to the lack of blood. She would make her way towards the cafeteria (if it still existed) to grab a meal to replenish her strength in a bit. She quickly dressed before stepping back over towards the window. She glanced at Snow as it seemed he was 'conversing' with the other avian creature. She shook her head and left the room, closing the door silently as to not disturb Haruka. She would have a conversation with Haruka later, but for now, she would assess the damage that was done to the school building.

And check on the well-being of your favorite vampire? How sweet of you Asuka, Snow teased in the back of her mind as she frowned. Shut it Snow, or you won't be fed tonight,
she retorted, listening to the owl's laughter before she sighed. Her head still felt like it was spinning and her body still felt weak. She could feel her vision coming and going, but it wasn't enough to cause her to pass out like she did earlier. Some fresh air might do me some good, she thought to herself as she grabbed an umbrella from a nearby closet. Besides, she loved when it rained. It brought a sense of false security and she loved the feeling it provided when it overlapped with her skin.

She stepped out into the school grounds and allowed the raindrops to pelt the umbrella, listening to the quiet hum as she glanced around. The school had been partially destroyed, and she could see spots of blood from those who were not as fortunate to have evaded being smashed by the falling rubble. She clenched her fists tightly as she closed her eyes, allowing the salty drops to mix with the rain. She felt like a failure to those who were lost. She could have saved them, she could have did something to help them, and yet, here she was standing, still breathing while others wept for the lost ones. The air around her seemed to become chilled as mist began to ring around her feet. Raindrops were becoming pieces of hail as they fell to the ground.

Asuka, there was nothing you could have done. You cannot save them all. You are just one person, she could hear Snow speak as she wiped the tears from her face. Although he was merely comforting her, it made her feel worse. The fact that her body was still weak from blood loss and the overwhelming feeling of guilt found Asuka's vision blurring once more. She stumbled in her step as she tried to find a source of balance, however; it wasn't enough as she fell backwards, only one word escaping her lips.

"She's calling for you, Sora."

“If I do this, if I give you this, I can’t promise things will ever be the same.”

He knew the owl was making fun of him. Apparently, familiars just thought it was okay to do that. Well, whatever. Maybe it was. He’d never stoop so low as to attack a familiar, unless it tried to go after him first. Perhaps they all knew that. Or maybe they just knew something about him that he didn’t. It was an old magic, the kind used to create them, and he wouldn’t put it past them to understand things their vampiric masters did not.

He was surprised to hear of what had happened after he left Rosenkreuz to his fight. Apparently those who had trespassed here really meant business. Then again, you would have to in order to set off that many bombs in the area. It was an act not only of violence, but of war, and the two were quite different. He would know, perhaps better than anyone. Violence, he understood. Death was simple as breathing. War had always been beyond him, just conceptually. Maybe that meant there was something left of him after all, aside from the hollow shell he thought he was. Or perhaps that was just more wishful thinking.

He was not, however, surprised to hear that Fujiwara had offered her blood to his roommate. That seemed like just the kind of thing she would do in that situation, even if Snow seemed somewhat displeased by it. It was all highly irregular, against those rules that had been put in place, at least if one considered the prefect to be a human.

But she wasn’t quite, was she? She was Fujiwara, whomever that person wanted to be, and right then, he suspected that things like human and vampire hadn’t mattered much. It was a sentiment that he, surprisingly, understood quite well. The lines had always been more blurred for him than they should have been, something that was entirely their doing. She’d probably just seen someone who needed help, and known that she could offer it. No further reasoning would have been necessary for her.

He knew, because he’d been like that, once.

He shook his head, though, at the question. “Doesn’t matter,” he replied to Snow. “She did what she did. Probably even for the right reasons. Isn’t that enough?” He could understand where the familiar was coming from, but he wasn’t going to fault the girl for doing as she had done. As for him, well… maybe she would have, maybe she wouldn’t have, but he was honest when he said it didn’t matter to him. At least, not in the same way it might have mattered to someone else. He was used to starving and probably would have had problems accepting charity anyhow.

Yet… maybe he hoped she would have.

He turned as she rose, looking out over the grounds instead of into her room, in case she decided to do anything requiring the privacy. He wasn’t one for bullshit notions of honor or whatever, but he did have a certain sense of chivalry in him somewhere, buried deeply within the layers of bitterness and blunt speech. It was then that he felt the first raindrop land on his feathered head. He’d smelled the storm coming a while ago, but it was here a bit earlier than he’d expected. Or had he simply been thinking for too long?

He might have stayed that way for a while, only Snow’s words drew him out of his reverie. His eyes found her faster than he would have guessed, and seeing that her knees were about to buckle, he had no time to properly consider his course. He simply acted, diving off the roof and hurtling towards the ground with all the speed of a raptor and then some. As he dropped, he transformed, the feathers drawing back into his sin as his limbs lengthened and deposited him on the ground, where he took off running, reaching the prefect just before she hit the ground and slipping his arms under her shoulders to brace her head against his chest. Looking down at her thus, he could see that she was pale, drawn; classic symptoms of nutrient starvation.

Shifting her with care, Sora adjusted himself so that he was carrying her with one arm under her knees and the other holding her to him, then glanced around for somewhere to go. Her room was out of the question, as she might wake up and try to feed on her roommate again, something she probably didn’t want. So was his… he wound up applying a burst of speed and carrying them out into the forest, sending directions to the owl in case he wanted to come. There, her condition would be far removed from prying eyes and curious questions, as would be what he was going to do next.

He reached a clearing and gently set Fujiwara down in the grass, crouching beside her and removing his knife from its place at his leg. He wasn’t the kind to offer or ask permission, and so he simply did what he intended, slashing open his left forearm and bracing his fingertips against the side of her head, tilting it so that she was facing straight upwards.

And here he had a conundrum. If he just let his blood drip into her mouth as he’d been planning, he risked choking her on it, which would make matters much worse than they already were. There was a field training procedure for this, but he was hesitant. It rather resembled a certain intimate gesture, and whatever the reason, he did not want her to think poorly of him. Snorting softly, he glanced up at Snow. “Just so you know, I’m doing this so she survives. If she gets angry at me for it, will you at least tell her as much?”

It didn’t really matter—it was necessary regardless of what the owl thought about it. Raising his arm to his lips, Sora sucked his own blood into his mouth, holding it there. Lowering himself, he braced his bloody arm on Fujiwara’s other side and pressed his lips to hers, releasing the blood slowly so he knew she wouldn’t inhale it rather than swallowing. She drank, as he knew reflex would demand, and so he repeated the process twice more, backing up into his crouch thereafter. She’d need more than that, but it should make her strong enough to at least drink it on her own. The wound on his arm was already healed, the last remnants of his blood smeared there, but he could always make a new one there. He’d probably let her take it from his neck, if she preferred, though that remained to be seen. It was a gesture of quite a bit of trust, and he did not know his own mind on this one. Perhaps it depended somehow on what she did next.

"A random act of kindness, no matter how large or small can leave a large impact on one's subconsciousness."

Snow listened to the pure-bloods remark and scoffed slightly. Truly he had something other to say than that? Well, it's not any of Snow's business to begin with so he left it at that. He then found himself following Sora's form when the pure-blood lept from his perch, morphing back into his human form after his statement of Asuka calling out to him. A light smirk played at the owl's eyes. What if there were humans around? Did he not think of that before he lept? Whatever the reason, he was lucky the students were not out and about and Snow followed after Sora in albeit slow, but steady beat of his wings. When Snow caught up, he rested against the top of a tree, the steady beating of the rain still echoing around them. His attention was garnered further when he spotted Sora reaching for the knife located on his leg.

What the vampire did next truly had Snow curious as he walked further off on the branch to grab a better understanding of the situation. Then, the scent of blood filled the air. He had cut open his arm and stared for a moment, contemplating his next course of action. When the vampire turned his attention and spoke, all Snow could do was tilt his head and refrain from allowing a scoff to pierce the air. It seems that not only had Asuka shared her blood, but it seems Sora was willing to do the same for her. He watched as Sora proceeded to procure the blood from his own wound and fed it to his master. This was truly an event that Snow could use against his master later. Oh yes, he had plans to torture her with this new found information. He watched as Asuka stirred in her current moment.

Warm liquid filled Asuka's being. It felt like a fire was coursing through her veins as her body ached for more. The feeling was tearing up her insides as it felt like she were bathing in a river of fire. The paleness of her face subdued slightly as she could feel the warmness of something on her lips. She was still dreaming though. Images of someone she didn't know blurred together in her mind as she furrowed her forehead. Who was this person? What were they doing? What were they saying? Then, a sudden rush of pictures, some she couldn't make out, some she could, flooded her mind before one particular picture stopped. It was of blood. There was so much blood. What was it? Before another image could play, her jade eyes snapped open to the world around her. The first thing that hit her was the faint smell of blood and then the smell of the rain water surrounding her and Sora.

"Tsukino? Why...what are we doing over here? What..." she began to assault the vampire with questions. Her head hurt, her body felt as if it were burning alive, and she had no recollection of what was going on. Her gaze, however, went immediately to the dried blood that seemed to have been recent lingering on Sora's arm. Her fingers immediately went to touch her lips as traces of blood could still be tasted upon them. Her face began to burn slightly, her ears as well as they turned a deep scarlet. Snow's laugh reverberated through her mind as she fumbled over her words.

"You idiot," she mumbled through her jumbled words as she glanced away from the vampire. She couldn't look him in the eye now. He had just given her blood, his blood. You should be thanking him foolish girl. He just saved your life, Snow stated through his consciousness as Asuka stared up at her familiar, a frown pulling at her lips. As true as that may have been, she could have still taken the blood pills to help replenish a semblance of what she lost, But you are too stubborn that you would have let your body go into shock from the lack of supply, Snow retorted as Asuka sighed and turned her attention back to Sora. As much as she hated to admit, Snow was right. She still needed more blood and she wasn't anywhere near the campus nor her room.

That wouldn't be wise though as she could feel her hunger clawing inside her, trying to get out. That was the one thing she hated about taking physical blood. It always left her hungering for more. She could control her thirst, but when it came to ingesting the liquid, all of her senses were rendered useless as well as her control. And that's when she found herself reaching out towards Sora, her eyes flickering between a crimson color and their natural jade. His blood, something about it had a rather pleasing taste.

And she wanted more.

“We all have secrets. One of mine is that I've always had a hard time leaving well enough alone.”

It seemed that his measures to keep her alive had worked, and Sora watched with wary eyes as she stirred, coming to her senses and sitting up what was likely far too quickly. He wasn’t anyone’s nurse, though, he told himself, perhaps simply to have one last ditch effort at maintaining what was becoming a farcical play at apathy. He had been told once that he wasn’t made to pretend he didn’t care, but of late, that illusion had been all he had to cling to, all that was keeping him going. That it looked to crumble into dust, to be washed away by the rain falling from the darkened sky—he wasn’t really sure what to do with that.

He was silent for a while, through her questions and through her accusation. He couldn’t disagree, after all. He was an idiot, though he wasn’t quite sure of the reasons anymore. There were so many to choose from, and some of them frankly contradicted each other. Maybe the problem was simply that he wasn’t sure. Certainty had been his constant companion since shortly after the deaths of his family. Hell, he’d been certain of things for most of his life, right or wrong. But now, he didn’t know. He wasn’t sure if he’d done the right thing or a catastrophically stupid one.

It occurred to him then that the sharing of blood meant more to most people than it did to him. For a Tsukino, it was just food. A substance that sustained life, that one learned to live with or without. He had in the moment forgotten its other connotations. It wasn’t important to him, but he may have overstepped some personal boundary of hers.

Well, so what? He’d done it so she’d live. That was enough. She could think whatever she wanted of him for that.

Though the color had returned to her face, he knew well enough what it looked like when someone was struggling with their hunger. Her eyes flashed that peculiar vermilion color, and she reached towards him with one hand. It was an internal battle, that one. Catching the incoming hand with one of his own, he brushed it aside and stepped close enough to cup her face with both hands forcing her to meet his eyes. Unusually, there was something besides dead blackness to be seen in them at the moment—a peculiar spark had lit them to life, and there was some indistinguishable color just beneath the inky dark.

“Fujiwara,” he pronounced sternly, attempting to distract her for long enough to get his point across. “You are more than your hunger. You’re in control here.” The rain seemed to have increased to a deluge about them, making it hard to hear anything but it and each other, as though it were narrowing their world to what was right in front of them. He could feel only distantly the way it landed in his hair, plastering the silky strands to the back of his neck and running in rivulets down his back.

Sighing quietly, he released her and stepped back, regarding the dhampir for a moment before he relented. It was a tiny gesture, made with more hesitation than one would expect of the bold, frank Sora Tsukino. With a whisper of movement, he tipped his night-crowned head to one side, exposing the side of his neck where his major artery lay. It was at once the subtlest and most obvious of invitations, the smallest and greatest gesture of trust that he understood. He was choosing to believe that she was in fact more than her bloodlust. He, of all people, was believing in another person, taking it on faith that she had only ever intended to do the right thing when she got herself into this mess, and offering her a way out of it.

He still wasn’t sure exactly why, but that wasn’t the important thing at the moment.

“If someone came to you, and told you they could take you away to a place where you could live in peace forever, would you follow them? Or would you stay in hell?”

Haruka was sleeping peacefully, her body was wrapped up in a comforter as a beautiful and calm dream wrapped itself around her as if she were being embraced. The dream was strange at first, she had seen her mother and father, laughing and talking, they were all laughing and talking at the dinner table, and then her parents had sent her off to bed. That's when the dream started to change. The younger Haruka had lay in her bed until her parents had fallen asleep, and then the dream had consumed her, at first all she saw were glowing orbs..and then they changed into something more...butterfly's. "So..pretty..." She murmured as she stood from her bed, her eyes still shut as she followed the pretty glowing butterfly, in the dream she had walked right out of her house and gotten lost in the woods from sleep walking, her parents had found her the next day early in the morning, but Haruka had never had that dream again until..now.

She silently stood from her bed as the butterfly flew around her head three times and then towards the dorms door, leading her out of the room. Haru walked in a sluggish manner and manged to open the door in her unconscious state of mind. She stumbled down the hall, and right outside into the rain, still asleep and following a dream. "Pretty.." She sighed in a quite voice as she reached out in from of her with one hand while the other hung limp at her side. She wanted the butterfly, it was so beautiful in the way that it glowed, it was like a beacon of light in darkness, it was trying to bring her somewhere just like it had when she was a child..but where could she go while sleep walking, surely not very far. However the butterfly started to get further and further away, leaving Haru alone in the darkness. "Choucho...?" She called out while reaching blindly at the butterfly her sleeping mind could only see.

No...don't leave me...please don't go like all of the others...I need you I need the light...I need... Haru kept walking, her bare feet hitting the rain soaked ground with light taps as she took each step. The light was getting dimmer, if she lost sight of it now she would be stuck all alone in the darkness without any light, she would be alone. What do you need...? The sleeping girls body seemed to do a strange jerking motion as a new voice entered her mind, it was so familiar and yet.. and yet so distant..so cold. What do you need? The voice sounded so young...and yet so hurt. I think you needed someone so long ago to care for you Haruka-Sama...but when no one came you gave up...you gave up hope of anyone ever coming back for you and of ever fitting in, and when you gave up on the world, the world gave up on you. The word's filled her head, as a sudden realization struck her, the voice, the hurt and broken voice of someone who had been betrayed and let down...that was her when she was a child..all alone.

The world gave up on us...

Haruka stumbled, her wet feet slipping on the cold wet stone ground. She was still asleep as she fell to the ground with a thump, her body giving out and her head smacking roughly against the pavement as if she were a broken doll. She had given up on the world so long ago, it only made sense that her butterfly, her Chō, her beacon of light, would give up on her as well and leave her to the darkness. We have always been in the darkness...there is nothing wrong with it..it just takes some getting used to...and just because your in the darkness doesn't mean you have to give up the light...because they coexist like yin and yang. Empty eyes opened up to stare at the sky as the rain fell down upon her seemingly broken form. Promise me Haruka-Sama... promise that you will never give up...I don't want us to die yet...I want to find our parents... Haruka slowly shut her eyes once more, she was still half in the dream world, but she let the darkness take her once more as sleep consumed her very being. She was soaked, cold, and laying in the middle of the sidewalk in only and overly large T-Shirt. And she was alone...but...maybe..maybe not...she was alive, after all the sing on the side of her head told her that much, she could feel the warm spot where the blood was mixing with the rain. She not really alone anymore...

I...I promise... Was Haruka's last thought as she allowed her sleep to take her once more. She decided there and then that she would happily step in with the darkness, but for all who were trapped within it, she would be their light, the yang to their yin, perhaps she would be that glowing butterfly, and she would be able to lead all of her new friends to a better, safer place..maybe...just maybe...

"I was oblivious. She was already crying for help."

"Saint. You should sleep. It would be for the best." There was logic in what Amalthea was telling him. He must allow his body to recuperate. However, he did not want to. There was no assurance how long he will be sleeping. Even if his sister decides to sleep with him, there is no certainty that he will be able to see her again. An unknown factor was still present and he did not want to take his chances at all. "No." This short and curt answer made her a bit annoyed as she pushed Zenith down to the floor without much of a resistance. This showed how weak he had gotten. If he wanted to regain his strength, he should enter slumber even for a short while. "Are you still going to be stubborn and go against me, your big sister?" Instead of answering her, he raised his head and reached for her neck. He was very thirsty. Very much. Seeing this, she conceded and lowered her neck to his mouth for easy access. "I guess this is why I like you, Saint."

Like that, all he would ever needed was her. But, time passed by. Soon, those eyes of gold that mirrored his held a guarded expression. It had never been that way even more so, he could see a resolve in that eyes of hers. Yet, what took him completely aback. Her long snow-white hair which Amalthea cherished and liked very much was now cut and shorten to great lengths resembling that of boy's hairstyle. "Why?" That was the only word that left his lips while his face revealed nothing of his surprise. She simply shrugged and gave a small smile. "It suits me, right?" The conversation was over. He should have tried a bit harder in understanding her. He should have. Because, he would soon realize the meaning of her actions far too late.

“Women only cut their hair in times of crisis... It's something' a woman always has the power to do, even when she loses control over everything else. Cutting' hair is a cry for help.”

Someone from the Council who visited him long ago shared that information to him. It was just casual talk and that is when he finally knew. She was asking for help and he did nothing. Now here he is, hoping for a sort of atonement. Atonement for what exactly? The answer was still far from him as his eyes slowly opened. They fluttered like a butterfly's wings which made it such a fascinating sight. It seemed he had fallen asleep along the way. He seemed a bit more tired than he had anticipated. As it would seem, he was not probably out for that long as the rain still continued to fall from the sky. It seemed the rain always reminds him of something. He was not sure whether to be happy about it or not.

Standing from his position, he found himself at the empty hallway. It was good that the students were not up and about. He had heard the Headmaster had issued all of the students to stay at their rooms until further notice. As for the injured ones, they were being treated at the infirmary and others were already sent to a hospital. There were a lot of casualties but at the very least no one had died from the new he had obtained. Although, the bomb explosions would be without doubt be reported on the news. The reason was still unknown but he was certain that those two people had something to do with it. They must be.

His thoughts were disturbed when he took in a scent of blood. It was faint as the rain was washing it away. However, it was enough for him to know the owner of it. This is because he had smelled it once. He quickly went to where it was coming from and soon found himself out of the building in to the rain. There was nothing wrong for him about getting wet and all. However, he does wonder how Yamazaki had arrived here and now looks to be out cold. Did someone attacked her? Where was Fujiwara? In any case, there was no point in dawdling about the questions. The girl's safety and health were his priority. He picked her up and was now in his arms.

It seemed that she had hit her head as he fell. The only course is to go at the infirmary to get it treated. After all, an injury to the head is a delicate matter. However, her choice of clothes and the fact it was clinging to her skin was rather an inappropriate sight. This is why Zenith had removed his jacket wrapped it around her form once more before entering the building once more. He had decided to never involve this girl into the dark world of the vampires. At the same time, he had told her to stay away. However, it seems she was a beacon for trouble. Cradling her close to him, he needed to provide her enough warmth as he could while the scent of roses was quite strong on his form.

Soon, they arrived at the clinic. Every one was apparently busy and he could not say anything less about it. Despite that, his presence was enough to have the people there enlightened even more so, when he was dripping wet and his clothes clung to his form like a second skin. Fortunately, a nurse took noticed of the girl in his arms and began treatment. As for him, he decided to leave Yamazaki to their care. It was better that way. He only decided to leave a few words to pass on to the girl. "Take care of yourself. Ms. Yamazaki."

“We make our own monsters, then fear them for what they show us about ourselves.”

There the young boy who had made the Rosenkreuz pure-blood cringed in pain lay so meekly on the bed. He was surrounded by a great amount of machines and from the looks of it they were truly advanced, probably even more so the ones available at the market. There were a lot of cables attached to his lithe frame as if to monitor the different impulses of his body. But one that would immediately be noticed is the catheter inserted into his forearm. It was transferring a huge deal of blood to his system. "How are you feeling, Ex?" Hearing his name, the boy opened his eyes and looked to his side. "Hughes! I'm completely fine! Just the usual!" Hughes nodded in understanding as he took a chart handed to him by one of the medical staff. "Your maintenance seemed to be going well. Congratulations." Ex smiled brightly upon hearing the results and then wondered about the samples they took.

"So, how are the samples we took?" The boy inquired as Hughes took a seat beside his bed before answering. "Astounding. His blood exceeds our expectations." Ex had a very enthusiastic look on his eyes of pure black. It was good to hear the trouble was all worth it. Yet, he would not mind fighting the pure-blood once more. He had this feeling that next time they meet would be far too interesting. "What about the halfling?" Hughes removed his glasses and proceeded to clean its lenses at a leisurely pace. He was even a humming a bit before answering the query. "I received the genetic profile but, I would need more time to tinker with it more." Ex nodded and had an amused smile. "I still find it interesting what you can do with just a piece of hair." Placing back his glasses in place, he gave a bright smile. "Of course, I told you. I can do anything I want."

The smile made Ex feel the air around them getting a bit chilly than necessary, but it could also mean one thing. This man was really terrifying. Trying to put his uneasiness at bay, he inquired about the other two people whom Hughes made contact with. There was the girl he had used against the Rosenkreuz pure-blood and the other pure-blood who earned quite a great amount of animosity. "What about the other two? Are they collateral damage?" Hughes had a thoughtful expression on his face and recalled the red-haired beauty which earned quite an amusing reaction from the most precious. Then, there was the black avenger. From the data he had collected, he had already plans for those two. Actually, they are already doing what he expected them to do.

"Not yet. I have plans for both of them." Those eyes of midnight black color gleamed with a sinister plot which made Ex feel the hair at the back of his neck stand. "They would help me realize my goal whether they like it or not." Well, Ex does not have any complaints with Hughes' plan. But, he was a bit disappointed. He was not going to kill anyone. "Don't worry, they will die by your hands Ex. Just not right now." Noticing the boy's expression, Hughes patted Ex's head in a rather affectionate manner which resembles that of father would do to his child. "For now, get more stronger. Then crush them." Smiling at this, Ex returned to his usual cheerful persona. "That's a promise then!" Hughes gave an affirming nod when a staff called out to him. "I'm sorry to interrupt. But, Alice is misbehaving."

Releasing a small sigh, Hughes stood from his chair and apologizes to Ex. "I'm sorry for leaving so soon." Ex shook his head and smiled happily. "It's fine. You should go, She is quite a handful." Hearing the boy's response, he patted Ex's head once more and smiled gently. "I will see you later." With that, Hughes left the room while Ex decided to take a nap waiting for his maintenance to be done.

Everything was falling into place little by little. The cog wheels are beginning to turn and whether they are a ready or not. It will come without remorse.

"Trust is something that should be shared not something to hoard to oneself."

Asuka had lost a moments consciousness in her mind when Sora put his hands on her face, speaking something that she could barely hear against the roaring sound of the rain, or was it her beating heart? She felt the words slip on deaf ears, however; she managed to listen long enough to understand the words spoken to her. The peculiar spark behind his black abyss stirred something in Asuka that she couldn't explain. The only thing she could explain was the unrelenting need to feed. When he pulled away from her, she felt her hands twitch slightly, reaching out for him once more until he tilted his head. Immediately, just as quick as the notion had been, Asuka was in front of him, her head nestling in the crook of his neck.

She felt her senses go numb, however; his scent, his scent caused a flicker of recognition to shine beneath the crimson colored eyes. She hesitated, opening her mouth to expose the elongated fangs. She could feel her lips quivering as she continued to hold her spot. If she did this, if she did it now, there was no turning back. Everything she had worked so hard to protect would finally shatter and crumble. The last piece of humanity she held would disappear. She could pretend at least that Zenith had never fed on her, that her secret was still safe, but that was wishful thinking. Sora was placing his trust in her, whether she knew it or not, and was giving her something that her body desperately needed. For that, she finally allowed herself to pierce his neck, feeling the warm liquid pour into her mouth.

The taste, it was just as intoxicating as the scent and she closed her eyes to the rain around them. She didn't want to pull away. She wanted to remain like this, feeding off of the blood that was giving her new strength in her deprived muscles. She was taking only what she needed to replenish the rest of the blood into her veins. It was then she forced herself to stop, biting her lip in the process as a means to restrain herself. With the blood now leaking from the open wound on her mouth, she did a rather unexpected thing. It was easier for her now to wrap her arms around his neck and pulled him close to her, reaching his lips with her own and allowed her blood to flow from the wound. If there were bystanders around, they would have thought this a scene straight out of a romantic movie, however; Asuka was not kissing him.

She was giving him her blood so that he may now know the truth about her. It was only fair in her mind that he had trusted her enough to give her what she needed. The least she could do was show the same trust in him. She pulled away, wiping her lips from any of the access blood from the now-healed wound. For once, Snow remained quiet. He watched the scene play out and could do just that: watch. He had seen the rather hesitant step in her gait when she had approached Sora, even if she had moved at an incredible speed. In a way, he was sort of happy that his master was finally allowing herself to feed on the precious liquid she needed, however; something in his heart felt as if it were breaking. Had this truly been for the better? Why was he doubting it now? Embracing her vampiric side was always something he had encouraged her to do, but now that she was doing just that, was it really the best thing?

"I would thank you, but then you'd just scoff and get mad, or tell me I am off my game. I do not understand you Sora, and I probably never will, but," Asuka spoke as she stared at the pure-blood in front of her, "you..." she paused, a hesitant hiccup in her voice as she did so. How could she put into words what she wanted to say? She didn't want to say something that would come across as a completely different message than what she had intended. "I don't know when it happened, but you are important to me. Somehow, that's all I wanted to say," she stated without another glance. She needed to clear her own mind now and return to the Academy. She was still a prefect, and now that she felt better, she could sort out these feelings that seemed to bother her as of late. She meant those words to Sora, he had become important to her. He had, unconsciously, become something of a friend to her and she cherished that thought.

It had nothing to do with his generosity nor of the moment that just happened. Perhaps, in the back of her mind, she had always thought of him as someone important to her, like a friend was. Regardless, this day was surely coming to pass as one of the most unexpected turn of events.

“Looks like you might make me remember some things I've tried to forget.”

The twin sharp pricks of her fangs on his neck nearly caused him to flinch—not from pain, because pain was trivial at best and it hadn’t really even hurt—but from the sheer unfamiliarity of it. None of the members of his family had ever been close enough to him to request or imperious enough to demand something like this from him, and he’d not have offered any of them. Sachiko, he would have trusted enough, but they were about as interested in such n exchange as they were in the dust at their feet, which was to say not at all.

The sensation may have been unfamiliar, but he could still sense her restraint, and the feeling that accompanied this was, most strangely, pride. As though he were happy that she was rising above this hunger whilst refusing to deny that it existed. It was a delicate balancing act, and he supposed it must be even more so for her, who was not quite of his world, at least no wholly.

He relaxed the remaining tension in his muscles as it became evident that this gesture was actually not going to backfire on him, only for it to take a most unexpected turn. Diluted by the rain or not, his sense of smell was still more than adequate to the task of detecting her blood, and he spared a glance down as she pulled back, noting the double wounds on her lower lip. An accident, perhaps? That had been known to happen on occasion when—

At first, he didn’t understand why she was pulling him down to her, but the metallic, slightly sweet taste of that life-essence was sufficient to motivate his understanding. Tentatively, he swiped across her lip with his tongue, and understood something he’d only suspected before. A most unusual smell, and the flavor no less different. It was far from unpleasant, but he refrained from anything more than that, allowing her to put the distance back between them that most people kept from him. Only… it wasn’t quite that, was it? She was still standing closer than most people dared. He found he didn’t really mind, as long as it was her.

He may not have looked it, standing with his eyes focused somewhere over her left shoulder, fingers subconsciously tracing the spot where the wound had been, now healed over to marble-like skin again, but he was listening intently to what she said, perhaps hoping that it would provide him some clue as to how exactly this had happened. He knew, in one way—necessity had demanded and he had answered. But the fact that he’d ever found himself in such a position in the first place… wasn’t it he who had so adamantly insisted that he not interact overmuch with any of the people here? Yet from day one, the firecracker of a prefect had been the exception to his little rule, hadn’t she? He’d not thought about it too closely, but he’d sought her company when he needed to be elsewhere than alone, and perhaps that was where it had started.

He sighed. There was probably little helping it now. One thing he knew about himself was that as soon as he was even a little bit attached to or fond of someone, he didn’t break those bonds. “Fujiwara,” He said, and for once his voice lacked its usual acidity and contained instead a weariness, as though some great weight bore him down. “I haven’t had friends in a long time. I’ll probably get it wrong… a lot. But if you don’t mind bearing with me… I think you might be important to me, too.” He shook his head faintly, though at himself, not her. When had she become his friend? Did he even know how to be one of those anymore?

"A friend is someone who will always be there for you, but those feelings are much more than that are they not?"

His voice stopped her from leaving too soon. In a way, his words made her smile at the small gesture. Perhaps over the years they both had become important to each other without realizing it. Maybe it was the constant arguments or the battering the two constantly found themselves in, or perhaps it was just the need to have someone there and not hold back on words that needed and should be said. Whatever the reason, it caused something to flutter within the depths of her mind and she turned to face the pure-blood once more. Her eyes remained the jade color, and for once, she didn't feel the itch at the back of her throat for more. It was subdued, for the first time in years, her hunger had not resurfaced at such a short time as it had done before.

"We have a lot of time for that," she referred to his immortality and her own longer lifespan. She didn't exactly know when her time would be up as she was, or at least she thought she was, the only one of her kind in existence. She knew pure-bloods had immortality while vampires of a lesser blood only had longer lifespans, but they still aged and eventually, they died. The thought of death alone had not frightened her, but the thought of watching her family die while she remained stuck in a frozen time, did. She glanced up at Snow who seemed to be watching, staying silent for the time being as he had nothing to say. As odd as it was, she was thankful to her familiar for not putting her in a more awkward position, knowing Snow, he would.

"Even as such, you should be returning back to your dorm or class, it's almost curfew for you," she stated, however; it was in a lighter tone than it had before. She was giving him the option to return to either of his place of need, but she wasn't going to force him to. Not tonight at least. With that, she waved farewell to the black haired vampire and made her way through the woods, Snow flying after her and perching on her shoulder. She gave her companion a worried look as he seemed to be lost in his own thoughts. She didn't want to pry into them for the sake of understanding the turmoil of her familiar, but if he did not speak to her soon, she might have to.

"Asuka," he stated, his voice low in a calm whisper. She raised an eyebrow at the hesitance in the usually firm and confident voice. He glanced at her, his ice blue eyes holding a sheer amount of concern. Twice she had given her blood to a pure-blood, once for the sake of one's life, and once for the sake of returning a favor of being trusted. "Do you think you will be fine after this?" he finished as she glanced away, pulling absentmindedly at her locks of auburn hair. She didn't reply right away, giving the answer Snow had feared a bit. She didn't know how to respond to that really. What would become of her now? She had shared her secret not only to the pure-bloods, but partially to the human girl who was her dorm-mate.

She had bitten the girl out of some trance she was in and it terrified her a bit. Perhaps she should ask for a private dorm room. But of course it would cause a lot of explaining and she didn't want to expose her secret to the headmaster either. Before she knew it, she was back at the Academy, walking absentmindedly with no particular destination in mind. She stopped in her steps as she noticed the white-haired pure-blood coming from the infirmary. There was a scent of blood lingering in the air, and she couldn't decipher through the many different scents. After all, there was an accident that had involved the exploding to occur. She shook those thoughts from her mind and approached the pure-blood.

"Rosenkreuz, is everything okay?" she stated as she approached. Although he seemed to be fine, it didn't help discern the fact that something was still amiss. Even if the pure-blood hadn't really shown much emotion, it was still easy to read when something weighed heavily on one's mind. She had learned to pick up on those signs from her uncle. She didn't blame the man. He was raising an abomination of sorts and, even though he had accepted her, she knew he didn't fully trust her no matter how many times he told her he loved her. She knew he truly did, but still, that inkling in the back of her mind had wanted to believe otherwise. The thirst will always win no matter how hard one tries to cage it up.

"The shackles and locks around the lone door to my heart slowly disintegrates and that frightens me so."

Upon exiting the infirmary, he had finally noticed that he had forgotten to retrieve his jacket. Well, it was little consequence to him. He had only hoped to gather it to not alarm Yamazaki of his presence. He does not like the girl to be attached to someone like him. The embodiment of the darkness which bore a creature so twisted, the likes of him should never be bestowed any kind of light. He fears someone like her to be swallowed by the black abyss although, he did note she is a strong person to face the truth of her memories. Even then, he had hoped that she would learn to stay away.

As such, he stood there for a moment as his thoughts conglomerate and prioritized itself which was more important. The pure-blood had completely forgotten that he was dripping wet from the rain. His white shirt clung to his physique like a second skin. No wonder, the people inside the infirmary had swooned or even blushed at his beauty. He was like a chiseled statue of perfection and his body was not second to anyone. His hair of snow veiled his face like silk and just like that, he looked a vision of an angelic creature which is such a contrary statement.

Due to his deep reverie, the pure-blood was not able to detect the presence of the prefect. He had only noticed her when he heard her spoke. She was inquiring about the state of things. His eyes of golden yellow then drifted to the girl who had provided him the blood needed to recover from his wounds. Nothing betrayed his feelings as he remained silent for a brief second before answering her query. "Yes." It was the usual monotone voice of his. As it would appear, he could sense the faint scent of blood on the prefect. There was the presence of her blood on her form and then another one. She must have fed and the only one he could think who would have the reason to do so was his roommate.

"It is good to see you are feeling well now, Ms. Fujiwara." Whether he was glad or not, it was not certain as he remained a mystery regarding to his true emotions. At the same time, he did not say anything about his observation or asked about the possibility of feeding from the Tsukino pure-blood. It was not something he finds troubling or terrible. To him, it was normal and within reason. He then glanced towards the door to the infirmary where Yamazaki currently resides. The human girl seemed to attract trouble whether it was out of recklessness or pure accident. It worries him but that was not seen through his face or even eyes. "Ms. Yamazaki had injured herself. She is fine, yet still unconscious." He started as he then gazed back to Fujiwara.

"Watch over her and keep her away. Keep her away from me especially." Despite his vacant expression, there is an edge of seriousness in his words. Zenith does not wish to involve anyone in matters concerning about him. It would certainly be better for him to stay away and for others to do the same. Even more so with what occurred at the Academy. He did not want to take the risk of having someone hurt in the likely event just to get to him in a sense. Then, someone to be burdened by his shortcomings which what had happened to him. "I wish for you to do the same. Stay away from me, Ms. Fujiwara."

He then turned his back to the prefect. "Once is already too much." The pure-blood began to walk away but not before stopping mid-way and looked over his shoulder. His expression remained indiscernible. "Good bye Ms. Fujiwara, Take care of yourself and thank you." After stating that, Zenith began to walk away. This was a path he had decided to walk alone. There was no point sharing a path bathed in blood and hidden by darkness. He was born to be alone and he had accepted that from the beginning. People who tried to get closed to him only suffered in the end. He did not wish that fate for anyone else.

"Walking alone in darkness? That is truly sad when there are others around who would illuminate it for you.

Asuka sighed a breath of relief when the vampire mentioned everything was okay. She let a line of worry cross her features when he mentioned Haruka had been injured lightly but she was fine. She was glad that Haruka had chosen to be stronger than Asuka gave her credit for. The girl was truly remarkable in that sense and she smiled at that thought. That only lasted a second when he spoke his next choice of words. She couldn't do that. Not because she didn't want to, but her job as a prefect would require her to interact with the vampires from time to time. She didn't voice this thought though as she found herself walking after the pure-blood. His words had seemed to anger her and she stopped so that she was in front of him. She fixed her gaze into one of determination and a light glare. She reached out to him so that her hand was placed on his cheek slightly while the other held his hand.

"No one, no matter who they are, should be alone. Regardless of what you may think, everyone shares that darkness," she stated, removing her hand and placing it over her heart. "It is a burden we bear, but that is why we have others around us. They bring a light into our lives that helps us live with this darkness. The two will always be hand in hand, but" she paused as she placed her hands to her side.

"I am sorry but I cannot do that for you Rosenkreuz. You may hate me for it, but maybe, someday you will learn that even though we may come into this world alone, we are never truly alone because we have those who welcome us into it with open arms," she replied. She shook her head as she then bowed in light respect to the pure-blood and walked away. She needed to clear her thoughts and sort everything out now, but first, she wanted to check on her roommate.

She entered the infirmary and noticed the large amount of workers running about, trying to figure everything out themselves. People were being tended to as the nurses and doctors ran with charts in their hands. A frown lightly marred her face as she noticed the extent of every ones injuries. Who were those people who did this to the school? It was obvious that they must have had some sort of grudge against the Academy, but the question is why? She soon found Haruka laying on one of the empty beds and walked to her side. Her face was twisted into a light, gentle smile as Asuka noticed the clothing around her. She smiled as she noticed the scent belonged to the white-haired male she had just spoken to.

Maybe there was hope for him with this human girl. As much as she would rather Haruka not be involved with the vampire, she couldn't help but have a light feeling of this is what exactly he might need. She meant those words she had spoken. No one should have to be alone no matter who or what they may be. Everyone had something inside of them and it clawed at the back of their minds relentlessly. It was only by accepting others and becoming important to them that it seemed to tame that clawed beast. Asuka learned that through her uncle and brother. Although she couldn't say the same for Hayate as he still seemed to harbor and incoherent amount of hatred for vampires. She understood why, but that didn't mean that she fully understood his course of actions. She pushed those thoughts away as she grabbed a hold of Haruka's hand and gave it a light squeeze. She would protect this girl as well. Even if it meant being by her side until she could forgive Asuka for biting her, she would remain.

"You are much stronger than anyone will give you due credit for Yamazaki. Don't let go of that strength," she spoke as she released the girls' hand and walked out of the infirmary. She returned to her dorm room for a change of clothes. She was still slightly soaked and she still had rounds to do as a prefect.

"This is a choice. It is a decision and a promise. That is why, I will be alone."

Lovely words. These girls were truly strong. He admires that. It seemed they would still be able to live through the hold of the shadows. However in the end, they were only words that floated in the air. Unfortunately, those words did not reach him in a way that the prefect must have liked to. Because, he simply walked on fading into the darkness that was foreshadowed by the night. Never once looking back. Not even an ounce of emotion flashed across his face as Fujiwara showered him with such flowery statements. They all fell on deaf ears from the moment she mentioned the word alone. Being in solitude and isolation, it is a fate that he had decided upon since that day.

"What will you do when I leave you behind?"

His answer to that whimsical yet meaningful query of Amalthea made his sister sigh in disappointment. Being alone, it does not frighten him nor is he uncomfortable with it. For him, this was his usual state. So, it was not something for him to feel sad. Rather, he was more worried of anyone entering this still world of his. Others recklessly involving themselves in his matter. Because, there was nothing waiting for them. There was no resolve or a smile given to them. Acceptance, he was not looking for it. He really does not have any need for it in his opinion. People waiting for him with open arms even if they do exist, he would simply turn his back to them and leave.

It was easy for him to deny everything and everyone. But, it was impossible for him to accept. Sound of locks and shackles echoed within his consciousness. They were once again in placed with such strength and an impenetrable lock. The admiration he felt to the girls had a simple explanation. He does not possess those strong qualities of theirs. It is natural to envy others who own certain qualities that he does not have. Then again, he has no inkling to change who he is as of now. His concern over the well-being of the human girl was normal for he did not like innocent ones dwelling in matters that should never be known. He would have done the same thing to another.

This was the same for his roommate. Tsukino was simply him without pretenses. That was enough for the Rosenkreuz pure-blood to admire. People often compared them to each other. Tsukino being the darkness while Zenith being the light. How wrong they were. For in the end, it was Zenith who lived in the darkness. Fujiwara said something about coexistence and opposite sides walking hand-in-hand. Was it not evident? They are the ones who walked the path of the light. As for him, the abyss was the path he had chosen without provocation. It was already done. Two things walking alongside but a wall will always be there. Like when the sun would never meet the moon and vice versa.

Light cannot illuminate all of the darkness. The darkness cannot swallow the whole of light. As such, their light cannot hope to reach his core made of the shadows. In which, it will be the same about him. He cannot pierce the source of their radiance. That is simply how he wanted it and supposed to be. He will greet them and even converse. But in the end, nothing will change about him. There was no deeper meaning to his actions. Nothing profound and enlightening. For being alone is a choice he had chosen, it was not something unconsciously resulted from his decision. And once he had decided on something, it is a vow that can only be broken by the cessation of his existence.

"You're really an odd one, my little brother."

Zenith was not certain what Amalthea meant about that. However now, he seemed to understand it for a bit. The meaning wanted for his sister to bestow upon him. Stopping at a hallway, he was completely alone and he found it rather peaceful. The rain had now finally stopped as he could not hear the pitter and patter anymore. Looking out the window, the glow of the rain created a beautiful scenery. Just like that, he took out a book which was the only one literature he could be seen reading. Opening it, he began reading once more. He continued his walk to some unknown destination.

This time, his wish seemed had finally come true. His reason coming to this academy had finally brought the beginning of his dream. Hopefully, it will never end. This dream he had wanted for so long.

“Experience is merely the name men give to their mistakes.”

More ashes. Another dead vampire, another step closer to his goal. At his every turn, he came closer to this Contra Mundi. A name whispered in the depths of the night, a name that some proclaimed as their dying words, like a motto. Whomever this person was, he or she had loyalty. Loyalty and resources. Two obstacles harder to overcome than straightforward strength.

He laid the black feather on the pile of dust and stepped back, transforming and taking himself back to his room, not changing back until he was in the washroom with the door closed. A hot shower eased the slight ache in his muscles, but it did not fill the gnawing emptiness in his chest.

It was something he’d grown used to over time, the fact that every person he killed hollowed out a little more of his insides, broke off a little more of what was supposed to be his soul. Or would have been, if creatures like him had souls. He’d been able to ignore it, until recently. Over the past three days, since what he was coming to mentally term the blood incident involving Fujiwara, he’d killed precisely six people, which was rapid even for him. Granted, three of them had been at once, but even so, it was quite a number, and Sachiko was refusing him any further targets until he’d had at least a few days of rest, though they both knew he didn’t require that much. As she was currently his sole source of information, he didn’t have much choice in the matter.

She was also beginning to insist that he return to see Sakura, but he wasn’t having that, and she wouldn’t withhold information for such a reason unless she wanted him to start gathering it himself and put himself in unnecessary danger because of it. She knew his limits, and that was one of them.

But that hollowness, that emptiness… it felt strangely uncomfortable of late. Like there was something else in there, rattling around in the vacant space. Trying to expand to fill it and being thwarted by his continuous adherence to a life he hated. But whatever that thing was in there, it couldn’t stop him. He couldn’t let it. There was too much to be done first. They’d have their justice, and he was the only person who cared enough to win it for them, bit by bit, life by life.

Turning off the faucet, Sora threw on fresh clothes and dumped his old ones in the hamper at the floor of his closet. He’d take care of them later; he hadn’t even gotten any blood on himself this time. He rarely did—purveying death was becoming too simple, too clean, even for him. Sometimes, he stepped into the spray of an artery, just to remind himself that what he was doing was something filthy and not pristine at all. That he would never be clean again, if ever he had been.

He’d cut class again, and dawn was but a few hours away. Without much else to do and no desire to sleep in his room, he grabbed a book off his shelf at random and tucked it under his elbow. Most would be surprised that he read at all, let alone pieces of classic literature or poetry. But just because he didn’t make his words beautiful didn’t mean he hated all beautiful words. He just hated false ones, and the two more often than not went hand-in-hand. Not so in novels like these.

He didn’t check which one he’d found until he made it to the roof. The Picture of Dorian Gray. He let out a mirthless chuckle. A man’s descent from naïve fop into indulgence and sin, and it started (and ended) with a murder. Or at least that was how he’d always chosen to see it. A story of ruin and subtle horror. Still written with a kind of timeless elegance, though. Fitting enough, really.

Cracking the much-used spine, Sora lay back on the roof tiles and held it above his head. “The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn…”

“What is perfection? What is trust..? What is Humanity? Is there any hope for Humanity? No...? How sad...”

Everything is dark...why is everything dark...? I'm being carried....? Why? Where are we going? Is it Mother and Father? Have they come back for me at last...no..that's such wishful thinking....What is that sound..? IS that a...a voice? What dose it sound so familiar? Why....

"The perfect being...? There is no such thing as perfect in this world. Now I know, that may sound so cliche to your little mind, Haruka, But it is the truth. The average human admires perfection and seeks to obtain it...but is there a point to achieving perfection? There is none."

I know this voice..from where? Where are we going..? Why dose my neck hurt...why..? Is this a..a memory?

"None at all...if something is perfect, then there is nothing left..there is no room for imagination, for space for a person to gain additional knowledge and skills....When did humanity all forsake themselves? Unable to trust one another, if that is this world...if that is what being human is, there is no future for humanity."

Why....? Why is he talking about this? Why to me? Is he blaming Humanity for all of the faults in the world? I don't understand...why is he...who is he?!

"People live their lives by what they see as 'Right' and 'True' that is what they call 'Reality'."

What is reality..? Is this reality..??

"However..'Right' and 'True' are nothing but vague terms. Their 'Reality' could turn out to be an illusion, and then what would they all do? Everyone lives by their own assumptions, reasons exist only for those who need reason's to rely on, so shall we go? To the end of all reasons?"

Haruka felt her body move as what ever was holding her up dropped. Her back hit the ground with a loud thud and she cried out, pain erupting through her spin as a heavy weight fell upon her body and something sharp cut into her neck. She could feel the blood being drained from her small body..and she was horrified.

The pain only lasted for a second before the person on top of her lifted himself up so he could look at her face. Her sight had returned and now she was staring up at the glowing red eyes of the man she had thought to be her Uncle. Blood dripped down her chin and landed on her cheek as she stared up with wide blue, tear rimmed eyes.

"There can be no happiness in a world that eliminates people they deem unnecessary. Someday you will change this world, little Haruka, those of you willing to fight for freedom will find the way...but not today."

The man dipped his head back down towards her neck to finish the small girl off, but a voice cut through the air, stopping him dead in his tracks.

"So who decides what is right and what is wrong? 'Reality' you say... How did you learn of the 'Reality' you speak of? The world is governed by the reasoning of corrupt beings, we're able to obscure reality through our obsessions. We've never been shown what 'Reality' actually is, now have we? The reality you believe in is most likely half-baked nonsense. Trying to understand reality, and explain it to another being is like adding two pieces to a puzzle that don't fit."

The man stood up, leaving Haru on the ground and he turned to face the woman with snow white hair and pale skin. Something changed in his stance, it was almost as if he were...scared of the woman.

"If you want to understand Reality, it's actually quite simple. The 'Reality' of things, of the world, is that very fact that each being only does things to benefit themselves, no one ever does anything to help another being, you can take that however you wish..but this, this is the reality of the world."

The woman's eyes flicked over to the small red haired girl for a moment, before she turned back towards the man, and moved being any of them could blink, her hand diving through his throat, but the small human girl didn't stick around to see what happened next as crimson red blood sprayed out and stained the girls white dress, she jumped up and took off running, down the hall, down the stairs, out of the the old creepy house, and into the dark woods. her neck was bleeding, along with the cut she had on her hand, from before she was attack, and the scrape on her knee from after.

The girl was gasping for breath as she ran until her legs couldn't carry her any further, and they gave out under her, leaving her on the dirty ground as she sobbed helplessly. Suddenly there was a snap of a twig, and when the small girl looked up she met a pair of golden eyes. The woman stepped out towards the girl and crouched beside her, frowning.

"Why are you out here all alone little one?"The woman asked making the little girl look up. She sniffed and rubbed her eyes before speaking. "I don't know...I'm scared.." She little girl looked up with more tears in her eyes, and the woman's frowned deepened and easily pulled the girl into a gentle hug. The girl felt safe and at home, and as her tears dried and her eyes shut, the woman stood up, carrying her away from the woods while murmuring soft words. "Don't worry little one, I wont let you stay lost.." However, the girl missed the smirked that tugged on the woman's lips as she walked away with the girl in her arms.

Haruka woke up with a jerk as she let out a small scream. Memories...she hated memories.

"The play we call life, where will it lead us when it ends? Somewhere where we'll be allowed to be free."

Black with hues of purple and indigo.

That was the color of the dawn sky over above Asuka as she stared out her window. She had finally been able to fall asleep into a peaceful slumber, but her mind was still plagued. Her mind was focused on the events that had played out the previous days. The school still managed to operate after the explosions but the evidence still lay about, covering the fields. It was a depressing sight. The old architecture of the building had been destroyed, something that couldn't be replaced, only replicated into a falseness. Her hand traced along her throat subconsciously. She hadn't felt the thirst since that night. Usually, even after ingesting a blood tablet, the thirst would return after a few hours, but she could usually keep it under control.

After taking his blood, the thirst seemed dormant for the time being. She couldn't understand why, but she was grateful to the pure-blood. A smile covered her lips as she stood from her bed. She glanced at the empty bed across the room. It seemed that Haruka had still not recovered from the head injury, but the nurses had assured her that Haruka was fine, she just needed rest. She partially blamed herself for that since the girl was probably still fatigued from the blood loss Asuka had taken from her. Although a human's blood only needed a few hours to replenish itself where as a vampires blood was a bit longer than necessary. This she could attest to as she had needed blood after the incident with Zenith. She pushed those thoughts from her mind as she dressed herself.

The night class would most likely be coming from their class and with the rising of the Day Class, she could only imagine the mingling of the students with the vampires. This, however, she didn't seem to mind as much anymore. This school was here for a purpose of having the two species mingle with each other to keep the treaty that had been held as something precious and sacred. If it could allow a shimmer of light into the veil of darkness, then she would allow it. Just as long as they didn't do anything to jeopardize that trust, she would allow it. She left her room, closing the door behind her and was greeted by an odd sight.

Snow? What are you doing inside? she questioned the owl as he stood on the floor, peering up at his master. She tilted her head to the side as Snow continued to peer at her. You know you can't be inside, people will be curious and might freak out. Some people don't like owls, she continued. Snow merely blinked his eyes as he studied his master. Something seemed a bit off about her and he didn't know what it was. He had known about the thirst that seemed to be quenched for the time being, but the source of it was what had him curious. It seemed she didn't know about the lore of a vampire's thirst and the only way it could be satisfied. Oh this he had to use against her now. If he could have grinned, he would have. Instead, he opted to remain silent before Asuka walked towards a window and opened it up.

"Be a good boy and go wait outside," she stated to the owl, smiling down at him in a playful manner. Snow chuckled and obliged his master for the time being. He'd wait on the roof for her since she would be heading there later for her break. She truly loved that roof, and he didn't understand why. With Snow gone, Asuka closed the window and made herself ready for her rounds. Snow, meanwhile, wanted to laugh at the irony of being on the roof. There, with a book in hand was the one responsible for the change in his master. He settled himself so that he was above the pure-blood and glanced down at the book the vampire was reading.

"You know, my master hasn't been quite as thirsty as she used to be. And it's all thanks to that blood of yours," Snow stated in an amused voice. He had spotted the book the vampire was reading, and it was an interesting choice to say the least. He never read the book himself (he doesn't have fingers to turn the page) and his master hardly read to begin with. He'd have to change that now wouldn't he? "She won't tell you herself, but she is grateful to you for that. She's just too stubborn to admit it outloud," he continued. He wanted to embarrass his master as much as possible since he knew her weaknesses now. Oh yes...he would have to do so.

"This is my gift to you, because I don't want you to be a saint... Your thirst will only be quenched by me..."

Golden eyes like the sun gazed at the ceiling with no purpose. A dream... It was a dream about her. When he dreams about her, it would be better never to wake up. He likes those kind of dreams despite how twisted and mortifying it may be. As long, she was there. Then, he was completely in bliss. Leaning on the wall behind him, he closed his eyes once more. He hoped the pull of sleep would invade his senses and make him dream again. But, his efforts were futile. It was truly lamentable. The things he desired could never be the ones given to him. It had never been so ever since.

"Amalthea..." It was the name that left his lips with such beauty and care. Anyone would easily recognized that the one who spoke held this name with great affection. Yet, one would be rather surprised as this was delivered by the creature who had been known commonly to be unable to show or to cater any kind of emotions. The said pure-blood opened his eyes once more as it held no visible trace of regret and sadness which he was actually feeling at the moment. He was once more back in the school library at the abandoned aisle. There he had slept through the day. Never once sleeping in his assigned room.

Days had passed by since the acclaimed School Festival which turned into a catastrophe. It was supposed to be a pleasant and enjoyable activity for both humans and vampires. Yet, it became a traumatic memory even to the innocent bystanders whom had simply decided to join in with the festivity. Despite such happenings, the academy continued on. Life must still move forward. Time never stops. It flows to a sense of eternity. Nothing would change that. This was something that he was certain of. Straightening himself, he could hear movements from here and there. It was yet another time for classes of the humans.

Like everything moved on, he did the same in his own way. There was no change in the white-haired pure-blood. He remained indifferent and empty of any emotions. As always, he attended his classes as required. He then disappeared to somewhere right after. There were also instances that others would see him sleeping in the most odd of places. Flocking to him which was normal. His interaction decrepit and brief. No warmth. No profound meaning. Just like that, he was once more secluded and even barely talked to anyone which was nothing more but the usual.

In his hands, it was the only book he would be seen reading, Dracula. Looking at it in revered silence, he flipped through the pages before closing it. He then walked away from the wall and soon left the premises of the library. The book he was reading a moment ago was now safely kept from prying eyes. Glancing at the window beside him, the sun greeted him with its brilliance. It was reflected on his form and somehow, it made him looked like a being born from the light. How truly ironic. If someone had noted that to him, he would have said it as nonsense and unfitting. Because, he is nothing as such.

Removing his eyes from the rising sun, he continued to walk. His destination would be his room for some change of clothes and a shower while at it. Afterwards, he would then linger around the school grounds to find another place out of the reach of others. There he would have the spell of slumber take over him even if just for a while. He soon arrived at his shared room with Tsukino. As it was customary, the two pure-bloods never crossed paths in their room. Never once. It might be noted as peculiar. Yet, it was just the way it is. In any case, he proceeded to do what he had came for.

Once done, he left the room and made his way to the halls. He would need to do his own patrols which had been usually left to O. However, his familiar was still out of commission. The boy he had fought that day brought more damage than he had initially assessed. He still needed time until O could fully recover from the injuries sustained. Which made him think about the ones behind such devastation, the man who appeared nothing more but a normal gentleman and the boy who gave him an almost fatal wound. There was still little information about them. But, there was a sense that he would be meeting them again. It was just the beginning and that is what concerns him.

It would not be unrealistic to think that the academy would become a battlefield once more. Judging at what occurred at the festival, these people hardly cared about innocent people. Their intentions were also covered in the haze of mystery. Nothing made sense to him. All he knew those people knew who he is. Their depth of knowledge about him did not only end by name and the ability of his blood. Somehow, they seemed aware of his personal matters. There was no one else that knew him so intimately but his sister, the only one he would ever dreamed of.

"Hey mister, can you show me around?" Those words interrupted his contemplative thinking as he looked at the source of the query. There before him was an apparition. He could not think of anything else of how to describe it. The eyes of gold which were always vacant of any emotions now clearly expressed disbelief. They were even widened to a degree to depict this. His lips parted so little. Without a doubt, his face catered the feeling of surprise."Who are you?" Those words slipped from his mouth without much of a consultation from his mind. The mysterious persona had an amused smile and spoke with a bit coy and disappointment. "How rude. Before asking for someone's name, you must introduce yourself first. Isn't that how it goes?" Just like that, the alluring scent of roses filled that particular hallway.
