ā€œI have a feeling youā€™re saying something important, but he just doesnā€™t understand.ā€

A faint rustling met sharp ears, but he didnā€™t move as the owl settled just above his head, apparently interested in his literature selection. It was no skin off Soraā€™s teeth; he didnā€™t mind Snowā€™s presence, and the white bird had as much right to the roof as the night-shaded vampire did. The kitten which had settled itself on his abdominal musclesā€”youā€™re not soft enough, masterā€”purred away contentedly despite her usual complaint about feeling as though she sat on rocks. She cracked one eye when the other familiar spoke, though, and if cats could grin, that would be what Midori was doing just then, a private look exchanged between herself and the flying one, though perhaps Snow would not yet know what it meant.

Sora turned a page, but then marked his spot by dog-earing it and set it down on his chest, peering up at the bird from his position laying on the edge of the roof, one foot dangling off into empty space. Of course, given the way they were situated, Snow appeared to be upside-down, but that was neither here nor there as far as the young man was concerned.

He wasnā€™t really sure why the birdā€™s tone was heavy with some kind of implication, as though he were doing something other than delivering a status report. Once, he would have blown off the information as though he didnā€™t need it, but he supposed if he was to try to be a friend again, it was the kind of thing he wantedā€”needed, reallyā€”to know. He nodded, the motion further splaying his shaggy, ink-dark hair on the grey stone beneath him.

ā€œIt may have been a while since I last had a friend,ā€ he replied, ā€œbut even I remember that they donā€™t always have to say thanks.ā€ Especially not for the weird, slightly-uncomfortable stuff, like taking your friendā€™s blood because you had no other choice. Hell, it probably didnā€™t even taste good, not that he would have any idea. It was just that he supposed that by now it must be as sour as the rest of him.

In his head, Midori laughed. It doesnā€™t work quite like that, she told him mentally, and he replied with an equally-mental shrug. ā€œItā€™sā€¦ good that sheā€™s feeling better, though.ā€ The words didnā€™t feel quite right on his tongue, as though they werenā€™t quite what he wanted to say, and his tone was a little tentative, a stark contrast from its usual brashness. The whole business was just odd, and he wasnā€™t really sure of himself in waters such as these ones. Heā€™d had all of three friends in his life, and two of them were dead. None of them were his own age. Hopefully, it was just like learning to swimā€”best done with as little warning as possible.

This time, the catā€™s raspy chuckles were not only in his head. Opening both eyes to the world, she sat up, yawning and arching her back in a uniquely-feline manner. Settling herself back down, she locked eyes with the other familiar over Soraā€™s head. ā€œHe doesnā€™t know,ā€ she said, voice dripping with amusement. ā€œHis family was never keen to teach him blood lore. Theyā€™d rather he learn to starve and never know the taste of it.ā€ It made arranging certain private affairs for him all the easier. Midori was not so adamant as Snow about the situation, but she did think it would do him some good to rebel truly from the remnants of his family, not merely follow their wishes in his own way. She found the rest of them to be awfully thin-blooded and weak-willed compared to her master, but then so was most everyone else, not thatā€™s sheā€™d ever tell him that.

ā€So Iā€™m afraid youā€™ll have to be much more direct if you wish to convey your point. Personally, I find it much more amusing to watch him squirm.ā€ The youth rolled his eyes. Sheā€™d always been like that, damn finicky creature.

ā€œThe Hell are you talking about? Tell me or shut up about it, Midori. I donā€™t need your shit.ā€

"Slowly, it felt like I was falling deeper into something I was afraid of. Now, I don't know what to do or feel. It's strange."

Snow blinked rather owlishly in his own defense as he heard Midori's response. He couldn't help but join the panther in laughter. So, not only had his master not known the secrets of blood sharing and why it quenched ones' thirst, but also this pure-blood as well. Oh he was going to have such a grand day with this. Then, he contemplated of whether or not he should tell the pure-blood, or let Midori do the honors, however; the feline beat him to the punch. As such, he only chuckled further.

"A vampire's thirst can only be quenched by that of a loved one. And by that, it is not a friend, but more of a lover," Snow stated, throwing all of the information at him at once. He was going to enjoy torturing Asuka with this information since he knew how she felt about things like that. Plus, it would be amusing to see the pure-bloods' reaction to such a thing. Would he believe Snow? Regardless if he believed him or not, it was still going to be amusing on both parties, and the fact that Snow wasn't lying either, only shined through his blue eyes.

Asuka had enjoyed the peace of the silent hallways. The Day Classes had yet to start and so far, everything was in order. She was grateful for times like these. It allowed her a moments peace that allowed her to focus on other things, such as what project needed to be done or was due for her classes. A smile graced her lips as she found herself in front of the infirmary again. She glanced at the door knob and contemplated whether or not she should check up on Haruka. The girl had been unconscious for a few days and Asuka was truly worried. It seemed as of late that the red-head had attracted trouble wherever she went, although Asuka couldn't blame her.

She was introduced into a world that should have been kept hidden from her. With a sigh, Asuka opened the door in time to hear someone scream with a sudden jolt. Without thinking, Asuka made her way to the source and breathed a sigh of relief when it was Haruka's awoken form doing the screaming. She stood, hand on her hip, as she stared at the girl. She must have woken from a nightmare since it was the only logical reason someone would scream. That or she was awake previously and saw something. This prompted Asuka to stare out one of the windows. It was covered by a drape, so there couldn't have been something their. Unless a shadow passed by which would only make sense if it belonged to a bird.

"Haruka, how are you feeling?" she found herself asking the red-head. She was concerned about the girls' health, but there was also the hint in her voice that she wanted to speak with the girl. She needed to confront her about the incident when she bit Haruka. It wasn't something she really wanted to talk about, but she needed to know if the girl harboured ill-will towards her. If she did, she would have to find a way to remedy that. She didn't want Haruka to hate her for what she did, but at the same time, she wouldn't blame her if she did. She hated herself enough for the action and it was something she never wanted to repeat again.

Subconsciously, her fingers traced her throat again. It was confusing her still that the thirst still hadn't returned or even seemed to scratch at the back of her throat. Although she'd never admit it, the taste of his blood had only rendered her to a sense of nirvana when she had fed from him. She liked it and even though she wanted more, she couldn't risk taking more than what she had needed. Would that be considered being addicted? She inwardly laughed at herself for the notion. It's not like she'd ever feed from him again. It was a one time thing and something, no matter how disappointed she seemed, that wouldn't happen again. These thoughts only prompted to cause Snow to laugh out at the black-haired vampire and his familiar.

"I told you a long time ago... You can't hide anything from me... Because, I am yours.

This scent. This voice. This allure. This presence. Could it really be? Is it even remotely possible? Those eyes of gold that never revealed a tinge of emotion were now clouded with overflowing desire. The thirst that had been kept at bay and never to be quenched clawed deep inside of him once more with great ferocity. It was not a beast, it was a monster. His hand unconsciously reached towards the person who ignited his senses with such insatiable fervor. Eyes of pristine gold were now but a reflection of passionate red. He cannot hold it back anymore. Just like that... it has finally began.

"How cute you are." His hand held the fragile and delicate wrist. In one swift motion, this stranger was pulled into an intimate embrace only to be shared between lovers. Searching lips traced the contour of the neck. "If you want it, take it all. My fallen Saint." Fangs pierced the supple white skin. With that, the scent of Roses fluttered the hallways like paranoia. It soon drifted to the different areas of the school like a rushing flood. A seductive and terribly enticing scent for vampires and humans, the mark of the most pure of bloods. A rule has been broken yet again, but no one cares, not even the two individuals who were the main culprits.

"She has initiated contact." Upon hearing these words, eyes that will make the darkness be ashamed of its black hue held a glitter of amusement and victory. "Why does she get all the fun?" This was the rather disappointed statement of Ex who looked at the images flashing across the various screens. They were mostly data and numbers which held no meaning to him. "You had your fun last time, didn't you?" The dripping innuendo within that voice only made Ex looked away in silence. He always feared this person. Why can't Hughes be here instead? "I will let you have your fun soon enough."

Ex looked at the man who sat in a throne like some King. No, he is a King in his rightful world. "Now, what would you do my most precious?" There was twisted humor inserted in that voice. "Connections. Bonds. They are truly the prison which we seek to be captured for eternity and see it as freedom. What irony." Those eyes of abyss drifted to the form of Ex who was looking at him. "You have your mission, isn't it my unseen assassin?" Ex straightened himself and bowed with great respect and fear. He had been tasked to dispatch some of the Tsukinos who still remains. This man was cruel and demented allowing a few to conduct a social experiment as he stated before. Now, he was going to do another one with them and see the reactions that would covet great interest. Oh, yes this will be fun. "Everything is as you willed it, My Contra Mundi."

Memories and feelings filled Zenith to the brim. It had been such a long time since he had felt this sensation, this satisfaction, this desire. It had been lost to him and not even the bloods of others had managed to prick through the chain he had kept around his thirst. In the end, there was only person who could do so with great ease. "Amalthea..." He whispered with such gentleness only reserved for that person. "Sorry, but I go a different name." Lifting his head away from the neck which he had drank from with such ardor, his eyes still shaded with crimson met vermilion orbs. A hand reached towards him, fingertip tracing his lips before stopping a corner. "Don't waste my blood, Zenith."

Wiping it, this stranger placed it closely to his mouth. There was a trickle of the blood which the pure-blood affectionately licked. The heady scent of his sister was too much to resist. "The name is Alice." The haze blanketing his eyes dispersed and the thirst silenced finally for the first time since that fateful day. Returning to its clear and undisturbed gold, he released the one known as Alice from his embrace. What had come over him? This girl who appeared to be around 11 catered to his incestuous love. There at the nape of her neck were his bite marks. The scent of roses filtering out like perfume. What has he done? If this girl was a human, he had revealed and tainted her existence with black.

Tilting her head to the side, Alice had an amused smile. She somewhat knew what was going through Zenith's head at the moment. "I'm not human. So, you can't taint me, Saint." Then, she reached for the portion of her neck where he had bitten with such want and need. It was ecstasy and pleasurable. "My blood is the only one which can satisfy you. So, take responsibility. You'll be mine, right?" Those eyes of red held amusement and a twisted sense of sincerity. She held out her other hand to him. The pure-blood stared at the hand for some time. He does not know this Alice but, her blood is of Amalthea. Everything about her is of his beloved. The existence of this girl plagued him like a nagging mystery. But, there was no more room for his hesitation when it deals with the one he cares for greatly.

"Alice." He started as he held the hand that reached out for him. It was far smaller than his and rather cold. There is an inkling within him to make it warm as such, his hold tightened a bit. Alice smiled brightly at this as she stumbled forward as it showed her blood had almost been drained greatly. This only showed how hungry Zenith had been for the past years. Even the blood of the prefect was no use to him in the end but a means to heal the physical wound, no blood was useful to him unlike this girl's. He caught the girl in his arms. "Carry me and give me a tour. After all, I'll be studying here from now on." A new student and quite demanding as well. However, he cradled the girl into his arms with such security. Just like that, time moved for him once more. Whether this was for the good or not, it will soon be known.

"I canā€™t exactly describe how I feel but itā€™s not quite right. And it leaves me cold."

Haruka woke with a jolt as a scream escaped her lips, merely seconds later someone flew into the room through the shut door. Asuka stood in the open door way as a sigh of relief escaped the girls lips. Asuka hand put a on her hip, as she stared at Haruka before looking around the room and towards the window, most likely wondering what had made the girl jolt awake and scream so suddenly. "Haruka, how are you feeling?" Asuka broke the silence with a simple question. For a moment Haru just started at her, and then she let herself fall backwards onto the pillows. "Like I slammed my head on the ground." She replied plainly as she stared up at the ceiling.Clearly she had been out for longer then one day, and of course she remembered what had happened, but at the same time..

Haruka turned her head to the side and nearly groaned when she saw what day it was, she out been out of it for more then one day, which meant she had so much work to make up it wouldn't even be funny, it would just be headache. She sighed aloud before sitting back up and staring at Asuka she was deep in her own thoughts as she subconsciously traced her throat with her hand. Seeing the Prefect do this brought up memory's from the other night, along with questions. Haruka frowned as she lazily leaned her head back to stare at the ceiling once more.

"Asuka..." Haruka's voice came out in a tired way, as if she had gained many years of life while she slept. "Human...Do humans have a purpose when they are born?" She allowed herself to fall backwards once more, her body making a dull thump as it hit the bed. "I know you don't know the answer but...I have been wondering recently...because they are born, do they have an important duty?" Haruka held her hand up in the air as she stared at it, her blue eyes duller than usual as she allowed her thoughts to flow from her mind and out her mouth, a forbidden passage she had tired so hard in the last few years to keep blocked. "The meaning of being born...for humans to find that answer, for us to find that answer...one human can only do so much." Haruka let her hand drop back down to the bed as she let out a deep breath. "I've realized what is the most painful thing one could feel...what I have felt." She bit down on her lip, hard.

Did she really want to tell Asuka about her past? Did she really want her room mate to know? Would it be so horrible for someone else to know what she had been through in life, or would it be better to end the conversation here and now? In a strange way, Haruka felt like, by telling Asuka about her past, she would be secretly telling her she was forgiving her for what had happened. "The feeling that...you are not needed by anyone in this world." She covered her eyes with her arm, she didn't want to dry by going over her memories, by thinking about her past. She would feel weak if she cried now for something that had happened so long ago. "Flesh woulds bleed and they may seem painful, but as time goes on the pain eventually disappears, and if you use medicine, the wounds will even heal faster." She moved her arm and brushed her fingers across the badge on her fore head. "But the tricky wounds are the one's in your heart, those are the wounds that are difficult to head..." She moved her hand from her head and rested it on her chest, where her heart was. "A wound to the heart is different from a flesh wound...there are no ointments to heal it, and there are times when they are never healed, when the wound is to grave and to deep within the heart to be able to heal properly." Haruka dug her finger nails in the skin the protected her bones and blood.

She wanted the pain that would always be with her to leave, she was so tired of the ache that always filled her heart because she was not needed, let alone wanted, but those around her, and if she was she was merely a tool to be used. Why do people do that to other people? It makes no sense...Right? "I...I wonder why we are born, if we are meant to feel such pain, weather a flesh would or a wound of the heart...what's the point of it all if we all are taken away by death in the end? Are we meant to learn from the pain? Why? So we can take it's secrets to the grave? This world..this world makes no sense...but at the same time...maybe it's better we don't have the answers...I don't know..I just....I don't want this pain anymore." Haruka sat up and started at Asuka, her blue eyes looks empty and dark as her bangs covered half of her face. "It's killing me from the inside out." She whispered the last part more to herself than to her room mate, but it couldn't have been more true.

ā€œSometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.ā€

For a long moment, Sora gave the owl his best blank stare, long past the point where it would have been considered socially acceptable to do so. Not that he cared much about social acceptability, mind. His brain, contrary to what his outer appearance of complete stillness would suggest, was working overtime, trying to process what heā€™d just been told. There was no way Snow was right about that; this was clearly some kind of joke he and Midori were in on. The cat produced a purely-mental snort at this, clearly amused, but he ignored her.

Even if by some chance they were right and not lying to him, then that may be only one of several explanations. It would have to be, because it was plain as day that Fujiwara didnā€™t love him? What the hell was that even supposed to mean anyway? Theyā€™d barely decided to be friends, an area which, though his experience was scant and ended badly, he could at least say he had experience in. He was the furthest thing from a lover of anyone, in demeanor or behavior. He wasnā€™t even capable of it. He was a sociopathā€”his family had told him so. Occasionally, he grew bizarrely attached to specific people, but he didnā€™t love not like normal people did, and he doubted very much that sheā€™d ever even think about someone like him in a way like that.

If she hadā€¦ no. She just hadnā€™t. That was all.

He was saved from needing to actually say anything in response to this parade of absurdity by the fact that his phone was ringing. Glancing at it, he saw the coded caller ID that indicated Sachiko, and picked up immediately. ā€œHey. Finally decided to end my enforced vacation?ā€ he asked in a bored tone of voice, knowing she probably hadnā€™t. God help him, if this was about her againā€¦

When she spoke, the tone was more urgent than he would have expected, and he sat up at once, causing Midori to jump off him, though she didnā€™t look offended, easily picking up on the gravity of the situation. ā€œSora,ā€ she spoke hurriedly, ā€œThe storm is coming. I felt it this morning.ā€ Her cousinā€™s jaw tightened, a bit of stone crumbling to dust where he held the cement of the roof white-knuckled in his grip.

ā€œThe same one? Have you warned them? Are you with her?ā€ The questions came rapid-fire, his eyes narrowed to ebon slits, his mostly neutral expression dropped into a deep scowl.

ā€œDifferent hurricane, same eye. I told them, but you know what theyā€™re like. Maybe half believed me. And of course Iā€™m with herā€”you know I wouldnā€™t leave her to them. Sheā€™s my family, too, Sora.ā€ He relaxed almost imperceptibly at that. As long as those two made it out alive, he didnā€™t really care much for the rest. His family had shown him, long ago, that when push came to shove, they didnā€™t care about him, only what he could do for them. He only saw fit to return the sentiment. It hadnā€™t been difficultā€”his heart had hardened at an early age, due precisely to them, after all.

ā€œThen maybe half of them will live,ā€ he replied tersely. ā€œYou know the drill: keep moving, keep hidden, and keep Kaede safe. Until the day we die.ā€

ā€œUntil the day we die,ā€ she echoed gravely, and the line went dead. Sora shoved the phone back into his pocket and raked both hands through his hair, pushing it back along the crown of his head, propping his elbows on his knees. Midori wound sinuously around his ankles, purring and trying to soothe him as well as she could. But she knew her masterā€”for all his insistence that he didnā€™t love, couldnā€™t love, there were people that he cared for more deeply than most people could imagine. He wasnā€™t empty at allā€”in fact, he was so full of emotion, of caring, of genuine compassion, that he felt the need to hide it, to bury it, always, for the sake of those he loved.

His breath was shaky, but smoothed out as he focused on it. Sachiko knew what she was doing, and if anyone could stay one step ahead of those that would do her in, it was a girl who could scry the future. His relatives may not have put much stock in her ability, but he knew all too well just how potent it was.

ā€œShit.ā€ It was stated in a hollow monotone, and Midori mewled in concern. He was doing it againā€”emptying himself.

"These feelings of not having a purpose...they are natural, because everyone wants to have a purpose whether it's to a cause or just to someone."

Snow let out a hearty laughter at Sora's response. His feathers plumed with the laughter as Snow kept his gaze on the boy. Truly this pure-blood was something interesting for the way he stared at him. The confusion, whether anyone could tell if Sora was or wasn't, was evident to Snow. He could see it in the black abyss of his eyes and this only added to the laughter. Settling down, he was about to continue when the ring of a phone echoed throughout the rooftop. He glanced at Sora as he picked it up. He cocked his head to the side in confusion when the pure-blood mentioned something about keeping her safe. Oh, so there was someone else important to this vampire. This Kaede seemed to be very important to Sora, and Snow's eyes only gleamed with amusement.

"You should know that I am not lying Sora. I might not know you, or your history, but I can see the emptiness in your eyes. An empty being, a soulless husk, can still have someone love it. How they choose to receive it, that is up to them," and with that, Snow left. He would leave the vampire alone for now. He did not need to intrude on the vampire's personal business and he wasn't going to pry any further. He knew how to keep his distance.

Asuka was brought out of her thoughts by the sound of Haruka's voice. She smiled at the girl's response. If she had known how true those words were, she would understand why her head felt like that. What took Asuka by surprise was the next string of sentences flowing from the girl's mouth. Asuka's eyes softened greatly as she contemplated the words. Everyone has a purpose, it just takes a bit of time to discover that. But then again, at the same time, Asuka had felt the same at one point. What was her purpose? She was the first of her kind, or at least she thought so. A being in between light and dark, what purpose could she possibly serve to anything, let alone anyone? She sighed as she sat at the corner of Haruka's bed, grasping the girl's hand as she noticed the faint amount of blood the girl had drawn from herself.

"It's natural for anyone to feel ask those types of questions. I believe that everyone has a purpose. While it is true, only one person can do so much, it is enough for them to be recognized as important to something else. Whether that something along the way becomes someone, we all have a purpose," Asuka stated. Her heart was heavy, she could see that much in Haruka as she glanced at the red-head. It was a shame for someone, especially a human, to feel such things. It only caused Asuka to want to protect this girl more. Whether she would allow her to, it was up to Haruka, but she would still protect her from the shadows if it came down to it. She sighed, releasing the girl's hands before cupping her face with both hands. She forced Haruka to stare at her and continued.

"That is where you are wrong. A wound to the heart can be healed. It might be an unorthodox way of healing, but it can still be mended. We just have to have the courage to see what exactly it is that our hearts need," she sighed. This was a feeling all to well Asuka knew. Deep down, her heart had been scarred by her mother when she left. Asuka knew it wasn't her mothers fault, at least now that she is older she does. But that scar had been healed thanks to her uncle and her brother. She shook her head slightly as she released Haruka's face. The last piece of information still rang in Asuka's head. Born to feel pain? That was truly something she had often wondered herself, but that pain...it became tolerable. Slowly, she was finding something else to fill that pain with, or rather, she was learning to lean on someone for the pain to go away.

"Death, life, pain, pleasure, these all coincide with each other. Remember this, everyone dies, even those who are deemed immortal. We are never truly alive unless we have someone to share a life with. Pain becomes tolerable and so does the notion of death because in the end, we didn't take the secrets to our graves, but we shared them with someone. No one wants to feel pain, but if we never felt pain to begin with, how would we ever know what pleasure would feel like?" she stated as she grasped Haruka into an embrace. This girl, even though Asuka felt nothing but remorse for biting her, was slowly becoming important to her...just like Sora. He was important to her and it was a feeling she couldn't quite understand. All they ever did was argue or insult each other, but why did that matter so little to her? Their interactions, regardless if she had shown it or not, had always made her smile.

There was a sick twisted part of her that had always enjoyed their little talks and she couldn't imagine what she would have done without them. Perhaps that was one of the reasons why his blood had seemed to sate her for the time being. Because he was her friend now. Even as this girls' blood flowed from the open wounds, Asuka made no notion to try and take it from her. Although she would like to, she just didn't feel the need to. She released Haruka from her embrace and smiled brightly at the girl.

"No one can change the past, but they can make the first step here and now into a better future. Will you allow me to be part of your future Haruka? As a friend?" she questioned, holding her hand out in what was an attempt for the girl to agree and shake it. Before she could get a response, there was a fluttering scent echoing throughout the halls and through the school. She knew this scent, it belonged to Rosenkruez. But why did it seem to be magnified? Like he had exploded and all of his blood had been smeared along the halls? She shook the scent from her senses. As alluring as the scent may have been, she was going to ignore it as much as she could. She didn't need to be lured into a dangerous situation again, especially with Haruka in front of her bleeding.

"Who told you... You are the only one... Who can see... Everything and nothing.

How pathetic. How gullible. How useless. How disappointing. These people who once revered themselves as the black hand of the vampire world. They looked at him as if he was an insect that need no attention at all. Well, Ex was more amused than irritated. If he remembered correctly, they were still clinging to their meaningless pride due to their so-called ace still on the alive and kicking. How foolish. Did they not know that this was an elaborate plan from the first place? Everyone in this world was nothing more but toys and guinea pigs for his Contra Mundi. No one was exempted even him. He was also a toy and he has no problems with that.

"State your name brat! You don't who you're messing with. We are of the Tsukino."

Yes, idiots. They truly are. His face was hidden beneath by his fringes which earned him a sense of mystery. Tension riveted through the room like a flash flood. It had effectively placed the vampires who surrounded him in apprehension. In their eyes, he had appeared out of nowhere and emitted nothing... This peculiar aura of his certainly caused many bemused expressions. After all, it was possible for him to do so. This could only be done if he is an illusion or dead. But, they could tell that he was as real as he could be. Oh, they will soon find how real he could be. Raising his head to meet their eyes, those eyes of eerie black glimmered with sadistic excitement.

"Oh, I know who I am messing with exactly. Don't worry. Just enjoy the show."

When done speaking, he smiled with such malicious intent that brought chills to everyone who had witnessed it. His eyes were now of deep vermilion color as it glowed like that of a beating heart. Some had reached to exit the room in an effort of escape. How futile. There was no way he would allow such delightful marks to simply slip his hands. Thus, the doors were suddenly shut with such force and locked without a means of being opened in a proper way. All looked at him with recognized fear. "Leaving so soon?" It was then screams to attack him began in ascending manner. Oh, they now sounded so desperate. Just wait for a few seconds, they would be singing a different tune. His favorite melody.

Alice enjoyed her position being in the white pure-blood's arms. It made her much like a princess which was only worthy of her. The downside, Zenith was not really meant to be a tour-guide. He was so stiff and boring in the way he addresses certain places. Actually, he only identify the areas in a monosyllabic voice. Well, it made it more worthwhile to break that mannequin face of his which she had done with ease by just appearing before him. She could also tell that her existence became important for the pure-blood. His hold was not reckless or a result of politeness. It was so comfortable and delicate as if he was carrying such a precious artifact of a distant past.

"Forgive me." Blossoming red eyes met those golden eyes which revealed nothing and this made her smile in interest. "Hmm?" She playfully queried as Zenith stilled in his steps. He felt terrible for what he had done towards the girl with such impulse. Even if he had desired to taste the sweet nectar of his sister. No one should be burdened by it. He did not know why his iron-clad hold to his control was suddenly lifted with ease as if it never existed in the first place. "No matter the reason. I should have not done such a forbidden act." She had expected him to stay such a thing. He had always been too strict with his own set of beliefs and principles. Making him, a bit inflexible which is quite an advantage in certain points.

As a response, Alice released fits of giggles which earned the pure-blood's confusion who did not show it outwardly. He had remained much like an infant in terms of living, more so with the means of interacting with people. Well, this is why it was no problem at all. Finally settling down with her humor, she wrapped her small arms around his neck and placed her head at the crook of his neck. "You can compensate me. Can you bring me to the infirmary?" The sound of her laughter was rather hypnotic for his senses. He was not sure if it was because how similar it was with Amalthea. Even more so when she placed her head at the base of his neck. It was a nice sensation. "Yes." There was no hesitation in that. It was a logical choice. She is more or less suffering from anemia. So, he went there.

Stretching his limbs, Ex licked the corner of his lips where a blood splatter was present. "You should have listened to your pathetic seer." It seemed he was also well-informed about a certain Tsukino Pure-blood who can see far ahead of time. He kicked a head which was already severed and turned into ashes. The whole room which boasted such luxury now resembled a macabre and gory scene of horror film. If a person who had a weak stomach could see this, they would without doubt vomit everything they could. Ex then reached for a small earpiece hanging around his ear. "Mission complete. No one survived from this end." There was a voice on the other end. He walked around the sea of blood which he had made. "They're gone as expected. Do I follow them now?"

Disappointment flashed through his eyes which had now returned to its normal black hue. There was even a childish pout present on his face. "...Fine... I know the Contra Mundi wants to play with them for a little more." The voice answered before ending the conversation with that. Ex removed the earpiece and crashed in easily in frustration. He wanted to kill more. These useless lot were not worth his effort really. But then again, he does not mind torturing the people he wants to face in combat through the unseen portion of being alive. "Well, they can't hide anyway. Isn't that right Alice?" He muttered more to himself as he disappeared with the haze of a wind.

The girl who was the new transfer student of the Night Class smiled with such meaning. Her face hidden at the crook of Zenith's neck. No one can hide anything from her. Eyes of carmine glowed for a bit before being alerted that they had finally arrived at the place she wanted to be. "Oh, we have company. Don't we?" Alice noted as she was now looking at two girls who she is very familiar with. Oh, she knew them well. As for the pure-blood, he instinctively held the girl in his arms closer to him. He should have expected there would be someone else here. But right now, he did not want to see these specific individuals right now. Then again, it never showed on his face. So, he only did which was proper to do. "Good morning. Ms. Fujiwara. Ms. Yamazaki."

ā€œIt has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.ā€

Haruka stared at Asuka for a long time, many thoughts running through her mind at once. Did Asuka wish to be her friend? is that what was being asked of her? She smiled softly at the other girl before nodding her head. She had never really resented Asuka for what had happened, it was understandable, if the girl had to have blood to live, then maybe, ne day, she could help, Haru had never considered Asuka not to be her friend, but not it all made since, that's why she had been acting so worried, she was worried that Haruka wouldn't be her friend anymore, that she could never forgive her for what had happened. "You've always been my friend." She stated plainly while offering a larger, happier smile.

She could live in this school if Asuka was her friend, she would be able to keep up life in this strange hell until she could leave. It was possible...but there was still one more thing she had to do before she could be at peace with herself in this school...we actually three things, but the other two could be held off until a later date...the first one through...if she hoped to get any rest tonight, she would have to do it tonight. Haruka was open to open her mouth to ask a favor of Asuka, perhaps invite her along, but right at that moment Zenith walked in with a small white haired girl in his arms. Haruka froze as she stared at the two of them, why was zenith carrying that girl...was she...was she bleeding? Oh...I see... her smile vanished as she mearly stared at the two white haired people standing in the doorway. "Good morning. Ms. Fujiwara. Ms. Yamazaki." He stated properly, but something in her gut told her that he didn't even want to see them at the moment, all her cared about was the girl in his arms.

She stared for a moment longer, before standing from the bed and heading out of the room. "I'll be in my dorm." She calmly addressed Asuka before turning towards Zenith and the unknown girl. "Goodbye." She then turned and walked from the room, and out of the infirmary, and outside.Zenith had told her to stay away from him, that she didn't belong in his life, so that's what she would do, for as long as he wished for her to do it. It took awhile before she finally got to her dorm room, but when she did she shut and locked the door. After sitting around for a minute or two, she took a quick shower, put another bandage over the cut on her head, and changed into a pair of black jeans, black sneakers, a long sleeved black shirt, and proceed to climb out of the window and jump to the tree, which she climbed down and landed gracefully on the ground. I need to work out more... She thought with a huff before taking off running into the dark of the night.

About fifteen minuets later Haruka had made it to the small hole in the wall that was on the east side of the school, she had found it while on one of her walks through the forest, she had used this hole when she last visited her hold home, and now she would use it again for the same reason. She easily slide through the hole, and then took off running again until the school was no longer in sight behind her. That had only taken half an hour, and now the sun was raising into the sky, but most of the light was blocked out by clouds, so it was still nice and cool outside. Soon she would be nearing her old home...maybe if she came to terms with the fact that her parents were never going to return again, she could be a little more happy with...well the school.

"Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be normal, but if you were, how would you protect them?"

Asuka smiled brightly when Haruka said those few words. Who would have thought that such a small sentiment could cause such happiness to swell in one's being? Asuka could feel the muscles in her cheek begin to hurt as she continued to smile. Haruka was not mad at her, and even considered her a friend. She could almost feel the tears pricking at the corners of her eyes but she quickly rubbed them away with the back of her sleeve. As she opened her mouth to say something, Asuka's attention was brought away from the red-head and directed towards the Rosenkruez pure-blood who seemed to be holding a young girl in his arms.

"Ah, good morning Rosenkruez, is everything alright?" she questioned as she felt the bed shift beside her. She glanced at Haruka as the girl spoke, saying she'll be in her dorm room and that she was leaving. The goodbye in the back of her throat caused Asuka to visibly flinch. Did she miss something? Haruka had stated it in such a calm voice that it was something that startled Asuka. She knew the girl to be more fiery than that. Was it because of the girl Zenith was holding? That couldn't be it, could it? She shook the thoughts from her head as she directed her attention towards the two in front of her. There was something odd, or rather, an odd scent lingering in the room. She knew that the Rosenkruez pure-blood emitted a scent that smelled of roses, and that only intensified when he was bleeding. At the current moment, the scent wasn't as strong as the blood, but it felt as if there were two Zenith's currently present. She took a deep breath before forcing a smile onto her lips.

"It looks like you have everything under control Rosenkruez. I will leave you to it," she stated as she rose from the bed. Although she wasn't sure if that was a particularly wise idea. After all, he was a vampire and she knew nothing of this girl he was currently holding. Was she one too? With a heavier sigh than intended, Asuka took off after Haruka. She still needed to talk with the girl. Even though the fact that they were now friends, she still needed to reconcile the mess she made. Not to mention she wanted Haruka to finish what she was about to say before the Rosenkruez appeared with the strange girl. Speaking of which, she'd ask the headmaster later if they were receiving a new student. This was the first she was hearing of it, and usually she liked to be up to par with new students, especially if they were vampires.

She made it to her shared dorm room and knocked on the door. She frowned as she tried opening it but found it locked. Strange, she never locked the door before. Asuka sighed as she reached for something to pick the lock with. Her card would have to do for now. Maybe Haruka locked herself out too? Whatever the reason, the expected click signaled Asuka was now able to enter her room. She glanced around the empty space and sighed. Haruka's scent echoed throughout the room, so she was here. Asuka glanced around and noticed an open window. Snow perched himself on top of the window seal and stared at her. His blue eyes blinked before his master, a strange glint covering them in the process.

"Snow, have you seen Haruka?" she questioned the Avian bird. He merely shook his head. A one-sided answer at most. It seemed she was sighing a lot as she felt her shoulders shift once more. Well, she could always follow after the faint scent Haruka left behind. It was odd, it was strong, but fading fast. She must have water on her. It was the only way to deter a scent, especially one as keen as a vampires. She glanced out the window Snow was still perched on and smiled at the bird. "You know the rules Snow," she spoke as she jumped from the window. She landed gracefully and took off in a light jog. She could still faintly gather Haruka's scent and as she followed it, it lead her to a rather peculiar spot. There, in a small clearing, was a rather small hole in the school wall. Huh, that's odd, she thought as she noticed Haruka's scent going through it.

As she continued to follow, she found herself away from the Academy. This did not bode well in Asuka's mind. If there was such an opening in the wall, who knows what and who might have come through. She'd have to find a way to seal it up again, or have the Headmaster take a look at it. Surely he had to know about it. Even if he did or didn't, it was still a dangerous thing should someone discover it (minus Haruka.). It didn't take Asuka long to find Haruka, and as soon as she did, she made sure to make her presence known as to not startle the girl.

"You've traveled a far distance away from the school Yamazaki," she stated. Why she was leaving this far, Asuka did not know. But it was best if they returned back to the academy soon. Who knows what could be lingering about in these parts?

"From the very moment, I was captivated by a darkness covered in light and splendor that I have forgotten what I have become slowly but surely, the chains tightened around my wrists.

It seemed that Yamazaki was learning. That was good. The more she stays away from him, the better it would be for her and everyone else. He would not have to be too concerned about her well-being. Another fact, Fujiwara appeared to have finally straightened out certain matters with human girl who entered the world of night by her kiss. It only meant good tidings as he did ask the prefect to watch over Yamazaki. Before, he had this inkling that would be the best choice. But now, he could no longer do that because of the girl in his arms. He only wanted to focus on her and her alone. Everything and everyone else was inconsequential to him now.

Fujiwara soon left him to his own devices and once again, it was just the two of them. Alice peeked over the pure-blood's shoulder and had a rather disappointed expression. "Aren't they rude... But, what can we expect from a mongrel and a nothing?" Crimson eyes then looked at his profile with an eerie meaning. He remained silent throughout, not even a response to Yamazaki's goodbye or to Fujiwara's excuse to leave. Was it odd for him to say that he really did not care about those two as strongly as before? Perhaps, it was not. From the very start, they were people outside him. They did not hold value that would have impact on his existence. Even if one had shared her blood to him, even when the other subtly required his protection, they were just meaningless connections.

"Are you feeling well?" Zenith inquired as his eyes of gold met those carmine orbs of hers. It was clear to her the detachment that the pure-blood was showcasing towards the two girls. However, she was no fool. Even if he believed it to be at best a nuisance, it still tugged at him. Reaching out her hands, she held his face. "Remember. Zenith belongs to Amalthea and Amalthea is Alice." Slowly, she closed the distance between their faces with a chaste kiss. He was not certain what came over him. All that he knew right at this moment, he was captivated by this girl in his arms. Her origins, her identity, they were all covered by the overlapping visage of his sister. That alone was enough for him as he deepened the kiss.

Black eyes hidden behind clear spectacles gazed at the data presented in charts and writing. It was truly promising the results being delivered. The experiments conducted and various researches gave wonderful conclusions. They truly showed the possibility of doing that. All the needed variables are accounted for. The only thing that is required as of now would be to collect them at the most productive time. So, they would be allowed more time before they are harvested. The anticipation was truly both exhilarating and irritating. "All those years, it will soon be completed. Just a little more."

"Professor Hughes, the preparation for the inoculation process is complete." Those abyssal eyes directed to the one who spoke. The person was one of the researchers working on that specific project. "The subjects?" He queried as he stood from his chair and then grabbed his lab coat. There was an experiment to be conducted. He was looking forward to it actually. The result can either cement the authenticity of the theory or show the areas where things are still lacking. "They are ready." The answer made him smile as he went to the door. "Let us not keep them waiting anymore."

So, it is true. The Rosenkreuz pure-blood has the tendency to fall asleep haphazardly. Alice knew the reason for such a thing. It was because of that one person. She slowly traced his face like some kind of painting. He was here on the bed sleeping like a baby. How utterly sweet and completely twisted. Laying here beside her, he looks like an angel that could not harm even a fly. Yet the truth, he is a monster-in-hiding, so dangerous and so vile. This is what he really is. She wanted to see that side of his soon enough. With that thought, she removed herself from the bed. The bite marks on her neck were now gone as if it never existed in the first place. She was certainly not human.

There was another person she wanted to meet. In addition, she wanted to see what the pure-blood would do if he wakes up without her by his side. The desperation, how she wanted to witness such a look marring that soulless expression of his. It would also serve as a bit of her punishment for becoming close to those girls. A mischievous smile on her lips, she took one last look at the sleeping Zenith before she left the infirmary. Her destination already known to her as she knew that Ex had already done the deed which will propel that person slowly to the depths of hell's chasm.

Walking around the halls, she was a sight not hard to miss. The humans looked at her with confusion, curiosity, caution, and admiration. They were all normal reactions in regards to Alice who stood out not only with her albino features but also her current attire that is of Lolita fashion. Ignoring the looks, she peeked through an opened window and found her target. "Found you." She noted to herself as she headed to that person which had earned her Master's scorn and twisted sense of justice. She made her way through the hallways as if she knew the whole layout despite being her first time here.

Soon, she had found her with an amused smile on her lips. "Swearing is not a good thing for someone like you." Alice noted as she was now standing beside the Tsukino Malady which he was often described as. Her eyes of crimson looked down at him with a hint of interest and the dash of mystery. "Nice to meet you. I heard a lot about you." She said as those eyes were now on the feline familiar of his. Cats, she hates them. After wards, she looked around and gave a nod of approval. "They did say birds like high places. Is it because you want to fly away?" Her eyes were now on his form once more. "I wonder what would you do if your wings are cut off..." It was without doubt that she knew of Sora more than she lets on and a feeling of familiarity emitted from her. As if Sora supposed to know her and then again, it was not meant to be.

ā€œā€™Someone like me?ā€™ I donā€™t care who you think you are, you donā€™t know shit about someone like me.ā€

He didnā€™t even move when he felt another presence enter his area. It was fineā€”if it was a threat, heā€™d deal with it, end of story. If it wasnā€™t, well, heā€™d probably just leave. He didnā€™t really feel like getting in any fights today. A bit unusual, but not unheard-of. Dead black eyes locked with the bright red ones, and he raised a brow. ā€œYeah, and I bet you care dearly about whatā€™s good for me,ā€ he retorted, not buying the Lolita princess thing for a second. Innocent people werenā€™t the kind of people who walked up to a guy like him and started running their mouths. No matter how they looked. Plus, she smelled weird. Like Rozenkreuz, actually, and the white hair was the same too. Did he have some creepy little cousin or something? Whatever the girl had done to the snow-haired vampire, the effect was negligible on the Tsukino. Perhaps that was simply because he didnā€™t know her.

Midori was staring at the girl with obvious disdain, which actually looked rather humorous, as she was currently quite small. He didnā€™t even give her that much, smoothing his face over and remaining entirely still, perhaps hoping that she would decide he was ā€˜boringā€™ and leave. Wasnā€™t that what the psychotic child types did? Heā€™d never liked kids, with exactly one exception.

ā€œIf my wings were cut off, huh?ā€ He seemed to consider the question, completely unperturbed by the fact that she seemed to have just threatened him. He wasnā€™t exactly the type to be scared by simple words. If at all. Of course, this was not to say he was underestimating her. Rather, he just didnā€™t care. If she wanted to attack him, she would, and heā€™d deal with it. He always had. No point in getting his dander up about itā€”he held no illusions about controlling the behavior of other people. He was quite reactive, that way.

ā€œGuess Iā€™d have to find another way to fly. But someone would have to be good enough to cut them, first, and Iā€™ve yet to meet anyone who can do that.ā€ It wasnā€™t boasting, and his tone held no pride. All it was was simple fact. Face still perfectly expressionless, he continued. ā€œBut Iā€™m not flying away from shit, kid. The only direction I know how to go is forward.ā€ Shrugging, he stood, eclipsing her easily with his height, and climbed onto the edge of the roof. ā€œGuess Iā€™ll be seeing you.ā€ His tone left no doubt that the statement was no guess. He could read implication well enough, when the situation demanded, but that didnā€™t mean he was going to do things on someone elseā€™s terms.

Glancing around to make sure there were no humans on the premises, he jumped off the roof, propelling himself into a tree, and from there to the ground. He had thinking to do, and he wasnā€™t gonna sit around and be taunted by some weird chick if he didnā€™t want to be.

ā€œThose were dark days.ā€

Haruka had been walking for quite some time. Her feet ached along with her head, but for the most part, she ignored it. She was very focused on where she was going, it had been a long time since she had last been on this trail and so far from the school, in fact Haru had never even planned on returning to her old brunt down house, but she remembered how tricky it was to find, that was most likely why no one ever bought the land and re-built the house, it was to hard to find out in these woods, it would be a hopeless search, but when she was a child she walked these trails many times, she could find her way back if she truly wished to. Was it left right left left...or was it left left right left..? No.. She sighed and took a left on a whim, it had been years since she was here, since she had walked these trails. Since her parents had...

"I wonder where they are." She sighed quietly and took another right. She felt like she was getting closer... but not quite. Another sigh, another ten minuets of twists, turns, and restless thoughts, and then there she was. She could have recognized this driveway from miles away, she had ran up and down it many times when she was younger, she had fallen down and made mud pies in the dirt when it had rained, she remembered it like it had been yesterday when they drove down it for the last time ever. She sighed once more and slowly started up the driveway, only to stop short as a voice called out from behind her. "You've traveled a far distance away from the school Yamazaki," Haruka's heart jumped into her throat as panic set into her stomach. She had been followed out here? Asuka had followed her to the one place she never wanted anyone else to ever see?

Slowly she turned around, and frowned at the other girl. It was clear that she was just worried for Haruka, but still...she wanted to do this alone, she wanted to face her demons alone, even if Asuka was her friend, she didn't have to know about Haru's dark past. She sighed again, it seemed to be a common thing for her these days, and shrugged her shoulders in defeat. "You weren't supposed to follow me, Asuka, but if you want to come along you can, it wont take very long." Haruka reached out and gently took hold of the other girls wrist before leading her the rest of the way down the driveway and towards the large burnt down house in front of them. "This was my house..." She whispered stopping in front of it as she took in it appearance. The years had treated it well, the wood was still colored a dark black, and there was still ash on the ground, but other then the part of the roof that had fell in, everything seemed in tact, in fact most of the stuff inside the house was fine, it was just colored a dark charcoal. Haruka could remember it when she was younger, it had been a beautiful house. "Come on..." She mumbled before slipping in through the front door and into the dimly lit dark house.

"As the birds chirp a happy song, I can't help but feel that they are singing in a far more down trodden tone."

Asuka didn't miss the skip of Haruka's heart as the girl jumped in her spot. If Asuka hadn't been worried about the girl, she would have laughed. Instead she offered an apology and rubbed the back of her neck nervously. She hadn't meant to startle the girl. She just wanted to make sure she was okay and doing fine. She had left the infirmary so abruptly without so much as a word other than the few she stated. Then the locked door and scent flowing through the compounds lead Asuka to believe something might have happened to the red-haired girl. Hence why she was here standing beside Yamazaki and not at the campus. She was sure that they would be fine without her for a few hours, and she wouldn't be missed. At least she didn't think she'd be missed by anyone. She was brought out of her reverie when Haruka spoke.

"I could always leave," Asuka stated, however; that statement was pushed away as Haruka grabbed her by the wrist and lead her along the driveway of a burnt down building. So, this is where the red-head lived at one point in her life. It was a bit different than what Asuka had been accustomed to growing up. With just her uncle, Hayate, and herself, there wasn't much of a house to live in to begin with. It was just a shoddy old apartment-type home that she had grown used to. Even if her uncle could have afforded a nicer place (with all the eat-outs they had), he had taught her a lesson about life. Always be grateful for what you have and take nothing for granted. She listened to Haruka before the girl told her to follow. She nodded in response and did as she was told.

Slipping in through a crack, Asuka found herself standing next to Haruka in the burnt down place. It seemed that it had been a long time since the fire. The cinders could no longer be smelled, however; there was still the faint aroma of death in the home. Although it wasn't a physical death, the scent was just trying to tell it's story. Asuka frowned as she rummaged through, trying not to step in a place where the wood might cave in. If it did, she'd be in for a fall. The home seemed to have been beautiful at once as Asuka took in the architecture. It was laid out rather well, however; by now you'd barely be able to tell anything apart thanks to the black soot. Why hadn't this place been rebuilt? Had Haruka's parents perished in this place? Asuka glanced at the red-head and frowned. Why would she want to come back to this place if it would only bring back those kind of memories?

Was she here fo a completely different reason? It didn't matter to Asuka, but if this was something Haruka wanted to do, then she could do one of two things. She could either leave the red-head to her own accord, or she could help the girl face her demons. She'd stay and help the girl face her demons. After all, it was easier when there was someone there to support you. Without some sort of support, anyone, no matter how strong they were, would eventually crumble and fall. And since Haruka was her friend, she would be that support beam for her, whether she wanted it or not. Asuka wasn't going to take no for an answer.

"I placed a white veil on a field of endless red and I saw something falling a cold tear crafted from that white.

"Yes, go forward." Alice watched as the black pure-blood who thinks no one knew his masked ego scoffed at her like meaningless rambles. No wonder he finds this Tsukino anomaly entertaining enough to be left alive even when death would be a more justifiable punishment. Because, she could not help but smile so ever maliciously. Time was slowly looming over all the things that prevents him from being a husk of dead meat. "Because..." She started as she now held a red marble between her index finger and thumb. Parading it before her, the sky slowly darkened, although, it was not yet evening. Perhaps, there would be rain. "Once you reach the future. All that awaits is nothing." It was then snow began to fall which was a bit too early and out of season. The marble being held by her disappeared into fragments of light as she turned to make her leave. This school was certainly going to be amusing. Catching snow, she smiled deviously. "How cold."

Ex looked out the window with a very bored expression. He should have followed after those who had escaped. Oh, he had to rephrase that. They had allowed to leave. He was not a big fan of patience or the waiting game. However, all the decisions only come from the Contra Mundi and no one can go against that person. In the end, he had just took his time killing the remaining Tsukino which were mostly the branch families. They were left alive the first time since, there was still a use for them. The use? A catalyst for a social experiment planned from the very beginning. First phase was now complete. Soon, the second phase will be initiated. That is where the real fun starts.

"Excuse me, it is time for your maintenance." Eyes of black turned to look at the one who spoke. It was one of the medical and research staff assigned to his well-being. He dislikes being constantly checked upon. But, it was essential for him to function properly especially with the mission he would always be given. "Where is Hughes?" Ex asked which was answered promptly. There was no need to hide such details from this boy after all. "Professor Hughes is supervising the inoculation process." This made Ex sigh knowing that the older male cannot be disturbed at the moment. Because, the current process was very important for that one goal which they were all working hard for.

Standing from his perched position, Ex stretched his limbs and left the room which the personnel who fetch him followed behind. He had already reported the details of his mission and even a written report. All that he needed was the go-sign to move again. Speaking of which, he envies Alice who had been given a mission where she can interact with the targets more actively. He wanted that but he made a mess at the School Festival which destroyed his chances of enrolling at Cross Academy. In his opinion, they should thank him as it made that rundown school be shown all over the news. Which made him remember something as he looked at the personnel trailing behind him again. "How about Alice's maintenance?" The man simply stated in an almost deadpan manner. "It has already been taken care of."

"This is the first time you saw snow, right?" Amalthea asked her emotionless little brother who stared at the falling snow with such an unflinching gaze. She was finding it adorable. "Yes." It was more interesting as Zenith never lies despite how embarrassing it should be for him. He always answers with such straightforward words or statements. She finds that admirable because she cannot do such a thing. It was more easy to trick and steal from people. Yes, that was much more simple and fun. "Do you feel cold?" She asked him who finally looked at her with those golden eyes subtle shimmering with curiosity. In the end, he was not as emotionless as he portrays himself to be. "Shall I warm you up?"

It was then he woke up to reality. He was now sitting upright on the bed with his eyes lowered and hidden behind his fringes. Somehow, the dreams about his past had becoming like a daily occurrence. It made him wonder why could that be. Was it because of the girl named Alice? No, this was happening long before but never this vivid. He could still feel the lingering warmth on his lips. Instinctively, he touched it and then finally noticed he was now alone. He felt great alarm as there was no Alice around. Did something happen to her? Did she leave him? Standing from the bed, he had yet to notice that it was already snowing outside. Such an odd phenomena, truly it was.

Walking through the hallways, Zenith remained a pristine image of a lifeless prince. His eyes never betrayed his thoughts or feelings if he ever had one in any situations presented to him. But his utmost priority, he has to find her. The desperation filling him up was eating away at the remaining core of his existence. He could not have a trace of his sister to disappear from his grasp. Moreover, the emptiness he had felt was slowly being filled by the appearance of Alice. Thus, she cannot just leave him like this. That was when he had finally took noticed of something white falling. Looking at the window he almost passed by, he found it peculiar. "Snow..." He softly called out and placed a hand on the window.

The memory of the past was flooding inside his mind. It was then from the corner of his sight. He saw Alice's figure dancing under the falling of snow. It was a rather beautiful sight in his opinion. Wearing a red dress, white hair seemingly glowing with ease, and those red eyes gleaming with a precious secret, she appeared like an angel. Regaining his sense, he pushed the window open and went out there. "Ama--Alice." As for her, she knew that Zenith would be frantically looking for her. He has to. Slowly, she looked towards his way and smiled. "Shall I warm you up?"
Just like that, two images overlapped before his eyes. However, only one figure was recognized by him. Only one.

ā€œThe snow was endless, a heavy blanket on the outdoors; it had a way about it. A beauty. But I knew that, like many things, beauty could be deceiving.ā€

Haruka ignored Asuka's offer to leave, and instead focused on the house around her. She walked soundlessly through the old rooms, momentarily forgetting that Asuka was even there, and instead focused on all of the old memories she had pushed down for long that were now resurfacing like wound reopening. Suddenly, she found herself talking to Asuka, through she was still lost in her own world as she spoke. "It not what you think... Her fingers trailed over the have burnt coffee table, the pads of each finger being stained a coal black color that made her stomach chum in disapproval. "I didn't lose my parents in some tragic house fire, I didn't watch them die while being helplessly useless, I didn't even go to their funerals when-or if-they did die." She shrugged meekly way picking up an hold picture frame from the ground.

Haruka had traveled across the living room and was now crouched on the ground, holding a half burnt picture of her and her family. Her mother, a stunning woman with long blonde hair stood on the left, while a man with reddish brown hair room on the right. Between the two, stood a small pale girl with long vibrant red hair and the most happy smile a child could wear upon her face. Each of her hands were in one of her parents, and they were lifting her up off the ground, swinging her back a forth as she laughed gleefully, her chin tilted back and her eyes looking up at the sky with pure and utter happiness. The picture would have been perfect for any model family, except that it was brunt straight down the middle, right where the little girl was, making it harder to see her happiness while she looked like a small broken, burnt angel. The only reason Haruka could see the picture so clearly, when it was so painfully not clear, was because that little girl with that huge smile, was her.

She stood up, still holding the picture in limp hands while staring down at it with a blank face. "My parent's just left. I never really found out why. They dumped me off with an 'uncle'-" There was a soft scoff after the name and a sound of bitterness in her voice. "And they never came back. I was thrown around from relative to relative until I came back here and enrolled into the Academy." The phone fell from her hands and hit the ground with a loud crack, the side of the frame splitting open and the glass shattering more so than it already had. The red head just started down at it with a blank expression. It was an expression she was becoming painfully close to using a lot, it was so blank and emotionless, so dead and empty, that it could almost rival Zenith's expression, almost, but it needed more work, perhaps for pain had to be experienced before it could become perfectly void of all emotion like a black hole.

"This was the house I grew up in, for the most part, and this is the house I never got to return to. It burned down before I came back to enroll into the Academy..." She was walking around once more, her fingers trailing along things here and there, before she climbed up the surprisingly steady stair case and went towards the first door on the right, her old room. Yellow, almost golden wallpaper had once hing on the walls, a small twin sized bed with a crimson colored bedspread had one sat by the window out looking the forest, a desk had been across the room from the bed, and a large dresser had sat on the right. The room hadn't changed much. There was still golden wallpaper, however only small dots of gold could be spotted, and her bed still sat by the window, but it was burnt to a crisp. The desk was now a pile of ash, and the dresser had fallen through the fool and was now down stairs. "They said the fire had started right here, in my room. It's the only place with the most damage." She shrugged and moved back out of the doorway.

She moved silently down the hall, she firmly ignored the shut door on the left side of the hallway. Old memories had plagued her mind recently, things she had kept blocked out. Haruka could remember nights when her parents door had been shut and shouting could be heard from the other side, she had blocked out the fact that her parents often fought a lot, at night she could remember all of the times there had been monsters under her bed or in her closet, but she couldn't run and seek the comfort of her parents, because they had been to wrapped up in fighting with one another. Haru had ended up curling up in the corner of her room at night and crying to herself, giving herself false comfort. The monsters now hid behind that door, she hadn't dared opened it since they had all left that night, she dared not even try, she wasn't sure if she could bare the memories that would return if that door was opened. She didn't want to see the condition of the room, she didn't want to be reminded of them, Haruka had never asked if there had been bodies in the house, the police had said that no ever ever investigated at far as her own room, which meant this door had never been opened since she last left it, what would be waiting inside if she opened it now? Haruka paused in front of the door, staring at it without words and she tried to build up the courage to open the door, to reveal maybe whats been hidden from her for so long...if only she could.

Slowly she reached out with a shaky hand, fingers brushing across the ice cold doorknob as snow fell in through the open, broken roof, she wasn't sure if she could do it, the monsters that hid behind this door seemed so much worse than the Vampires awaiting their return to the school, so much worse than everything else she had faced so far, not once since Haruka had been at the damn school, had she feared for her life. She hadn't been worried about death when Asuka bit her, nor when the Academy was attack and that brown haired vampire tried to slice her in half, she hadn't been worried when she hit her head and started to remember things no one should remember, and she hadn't been worried when walking alone in the woods by a Vampire infested school, but now she was worried. She was worried for what would happen to her life if she opened those doors and let all of those memories resurface. I wonder if there is anything in there that would explain it all...or maybe I'll just be restless for the rest of my life, without an answer...'

"Even though a beginning turns out rough, it is because we learn to stand stronger that we can face an end with a steady heart."

Asuka remained silent as Haruka explained the charred remains of her home. She listened as Haruka explained that her parents had just left her with an uncle as she moved around in foster care. It caused a frown to tug at Asuka's lips. She could relate to that, if only slightly. Her mother had left her with Uncle Fujiwara, the man who raised her along with Hayate, his own son. She had been lucky enough that the man had saw her as his own daughter and raised her to the best of his abilities. He trained her, loved her, and gave her a family. It was something she would forever be grateful for. If he hadn't been there, shown her what it was like to truly have a family, she might have gone insane. She might have been labeled as a Level E as well if that were the case. She smiled tenderly as she rolled her fingers across a burnt desk.

"I think it's the stress of raising a child that is different that causes our parents to leave us," Asuka stated nonchalantly. Her eyes had glazed over as she kept her gaze on the charred remains. It was almost saddening to see such beautiful works of art turned to cinders and ash. There was some truth to her words. Her own mother couldn't deal with the fact that Asuka wasn't human, let alone something entirely different to begin with. She could still see the fear in her mother's eyes from that day. That day that man had tried to kidnap her for his own selfish reasons. She sighed, running her hand along the ash and pulled it so that her hand was stained with the dark substance. "But thanks to Hayate and my Oto-san, I didn't fall. Oto-san really isn't my Oto-san, but I revere him as one. He raised me even though he is merely my uncle," she stated. She watched as pieces of ash floated about as they fell from the ceiling.

Asuka turned to watch as Haruka seemed to be in her own thoughts. Being unwanted, or the very feeling of it wasn't something anyone should experience. Especially when they were mere mortals. With such little time on their hands, they could only live as quickly as they could, and as a result, it caused most children to grow up to quickly. And she could see it written clear as day on Haruka's body language. The girl truly had nothing to hold onto. Parents who seemed to not want her and a home that had been destroyed. What was left for a life such as this? Loneliness, emptiness? Were these feelings going to be ones that Asuka would eventually feel? She would see her father and her brother grow old. She'll see them die and pass in the wind as if they never existed to begin with. She didn't want that. She didn't want to witness their deaths and be the only one of the Fujiwara's left. Hayate was the only son of her uncle, and she was just a being floating between. She couldn't..., she shook those thoughts from her mind.

It wasn't something that she should be thinking of. If the time ever came, she'd ask to welcome death in it's cold embrace. There was nothing here for her besides her family. And once they were gone, what would she have? Snow? The School? It wasn't enough. She wanted more meaning, more purpose o this life than that. She wanted to feel as though her life meant something to someone or anything really. She finally understood somewhat the words that Haruka spoke in the infirmary. A desire of being needed by something or someone. What would that feel like? She remained lost in her own thoughts as Haruka seemed to do the same. She sighed as she finally pushed the thoughts away. There was no room in her heart nor mind for such thoughts. She had a purpose, and that was to protect. Protect what? The students and humans of the world. She had to protect them from the creatures that swallowed parts of her life. Even though that's what the hunters were for, she herself was also a hunter. It was a solemn oath that she made.

"You don't understand a world of the dark. I," she paused, placing a hand over her heart. She owed this girl something, an explanation of sorts. Haruka trusted her enough to still want to be her friend, perhaps Haruka could be another person to share her secret with. She would be the third. "I know I frightened you when I bit you Haruka, and I apologize for it. But, I am not a vampire, nor am I quite human. I...I don't know what I am really. I feel like I get caught in between a fantasy and a reality, and both are fighting for dominance. I am afraid of which one would win though," she stated, allowing her hand to fall to her side as she took in a deep breath. The faint scents that lingered about were nothing more than just that. Faint. She was trying to distract herself, afraid to stare at the red-head in front of her. She hadn't meant it the way it came out. Haruka probably understood a dark world more so than Asuka truly did, but she didn't understand it at the same time. Even in the darkest of places, life can grow anew and begin again. Where one thing ended, something was there to begin and live in it's place. Much like this house. Even though it was burnt to cinders and ash, the grass and flowers that were peeking through the broken floorboards were to attest to that.

ā€œNothing in this world makes sense anymore, things would be so much easier if I just gave up.ā€

Haruka stood silently, one hand on the door knob that would lead to their room, and while listened to Asuka speak. She waited until the girl finished her speech, but even then Haruka kept quiet, lost in thought. Asuka didn't grow up with her parents but...she had someone that treated her like a daughter, she had people who treated her like she was a part of their family, Haruka never had that, even when she did...Her hand tightened around the door knob while frowning. Asuka was a good friend, and it was sad to see how much she had struggled through life, it was clear in the other girls eyes, the pain of her mother leaving her with other people, but Haruka didn't address it, she would later, but not now."Thank you, Asuka, I...I'm not scared of you, or any of the...Vampires...at the Academy. I'm not scared." She turned her head ever so slightly and smiled at the other girl, before she made up her mind, and twisted the door handle. It creaked, and then suddenly with a large gust of wind, the door swung open and hit the wall with a loud smack.

Her breath hitched while her eyes widened. The air pushed out of her lungs as her mouth fell open into a silent scream. The room was perfect, nothing was out of place...except for the two freshly burnt corpses that lay on the bed, side by side. The red haired girl stumbled numbly into the room, the strong scents of burnt flesh filled her nose and made bile raise in her throat. Jumbled thoughts ran into each other in her head, but one thought stood out the most through.

It's them.

It wasn't proven, it couldn't be, but it was the only thing her mind could process. Her knees gave out, slamming into the ground as cold tears fell down her face. None of this made sense, why would their be two burnt corpses on her parents bed in their room? Why did the room look as if it hadn't been touched by the fire at all, even the bed looked perfect, but the bodies, the smell the memories that flashed through her head. She didn't understand, nothing made sense, what was this?! Her body was taken over by numbness, and she fell forward, hitting the wooden floor with a thump. She couldn't move, she could barely breath, as she could do was stare straight ahead as tears rolled down her face and into the ground. Haruka felt like her body wasn't in her control anymore, all she could do was breath and blink the tears away, but inside she was scream, screaming and screaming and screaming, clawing at her eyes to get the image of those burnt corpse out of her memory.

She opened her mouth, trying to ask Asuka for help, trying to bed her to do something, anything, but nothing came out, only a strangled noise that sounded like a cry of pain and a battle cry all in one. And then, we world went black. But the corpse had been branded into her eyelid's, even in the darkness, she could see them.

I'm broken...

"And so it begins in a world full of unknown possibilities and endless nightmares.."

Asuka could only half-smile at the girl. Haruka stated that she wasn't afraid of Asuka, and as much as she wanted to be comforted by those words, Asuka knew better. Even if Haruka stated she wasn't afraid of vampires in the school, Haruka should be. They were dangerous. She was dangerous. She sighed lightly, trying not to disturb the girl as she seemed lost in her own thoughts. Haruka then proceeded to open the door to another room, however; a sudden gust of wind pushed passed the two and tossed the door open carelessly. The loud thwack of the door hitting the wall sent a shiver down Asuka's spine until the scent of freshly burnt corpses flooded her senses. She saw Haruka fall to her knees as the smell of salt assaulted her senses. The girl was crying, so that meant she knew the bodies that lay in an otherwise perfectly preserved room. It was as if this room had never been touched by the flames.

Asuka re-acted as quickly as she could as Haruka fell forward and passed out. She shook the girl lightly, trying to see if she could get her to regain consciousness, but it failed. She glanced once more at the bodies. She couldn't feel anything. Sadness, pain, nothing. They were not someone she knew, but the way Haruka reacted was enough to give Asuka a clue as to who they were. They were either the people who owned this house, her parents, or just the ones that cared for Haruka as a child. Whoever they were to Haruka, Asuka didn't know. She sighed as she knelled down to the girl, removing some strands of her red hair from her face before glancing around. She had no choice but to carry her back to the Academy. It would be a walk, but Asuka could manage if only because of her vampire blood. With a heavy sigh, Asuka grabbed Haruka and held her so that it was comfortable for the both of them.

"I think it's time to go back," Asuka muttered as she took the girl from the home. She glanced over her shoulder as she stood at the front of the house, taking in the damaged visage before making the long trek back to the Academy. It took at least an hour or so to return. She had to walk slowly so that she wouldn't accidentally injure the girl or drop her. Once back, she took Haruka back to the infirmary. It was best if the doctors strapped the girl to the bed and kept her on at least a few days bed rest, but she wouldn't tell them that. It would be up to Haruka if she wanted to rest or not, and given the images that would undoubtedly be burnt into the girls mind, she would need it. She let the nurses take Haruka from her arms as she stood in the doorway. Immediately, the doctors began to work on the red-head and Asuka only sighed.

"Take care of yourself Haruka. It won't do you any good to just," Asuka paused. She scoffed to herself as she walked out of the infirmary. Satisfied with the soft click, she walked down the hallway and made her way towards her dorm, however; her feet lead her to the music room. She smiled sadly as she entered the room, tracing her fingers along the violin she owned. She was tempted to play something, but she resisted the urge and sighed. Things were just getting weird every day that passed. First, it was the incident at the festival, then the incident with Sora, and now this. What else could possibly happen? She shook her head. She didn't want to know, and she hoped that this would be the end of such things. But somewhere, deep in the bottom of her heart, she knew that it wasn't the end. Something still seemed so out of place and Asuka couldn't put her mind to it.

"Rough day I take it?" Snow stated as he sat on the window sill. Asuka merely glanced at her familiar. The two exchanged looks, almost as if they were having a conversation with no words being spoken between the two. With that, Snow took off without another word as Asuka ran a hand through her brown locks. She took a deep breath and made her way to her dorm, awaiting for the day to end and a new one to begin.

"A beauty so fragile is twisted and demented which makes a perfect trap to shatter all into fragments."

Everything seemed to settle down in terms of human affairs. The attack of Cross Academy faded into the background with other news about the greed of mankind. The students and staff that had been injured during the series of explosions were now back and healthy once more. It was like nothing happened. No one was even talking about as if it was taboo topic. Perhaps, it was the way of humanity to cope with such unexpected occurrences. Just like that, everything was once more in a dreamlike peace. However, this was only on the surface. Deep within, everything had changed. Seeds of doubt and fear were planted within the people who knew there was more to this than a simple terrorist attack.

As for the matters of the vampire world, the news about the massacre of the Tsukino branch family spread like wildfire. There were many suspicions of why this happened. Many culprits had been rumored to be the cause. Yet, no one had enough proof to condemn these assumptions as a fact. So, it all remained a frightening mystery. Everyone was scared that they will be the next target. Even more so, when there had been a string of deaths and suddenly this. No one was safe anymore. No one was certain who could be trusted. Everything was hidden in darkness and those who held the cards were masters of the black. Somehow, there is a foreboding feeling that this was only the continuation of a nightmare that had been started a long time ago.

So, the nightmare begins...

"Alice-chan, you are so funny!" Officially, Alice had become a student of the Day class. This meant she was human and not of a vampire. But then again, her perception and knowledge of the secret world of blood makes her no innocent. "But, I can't believe it that you're Saint-sama's little sister!" Yes, her cover was completed with ease. Her looks that resembles the mysterious and distant Rosenkreuz Clan and a scent that cannot be found but those who shared the same blood. Moreover, the attachment of Zenith to her presence was enough motivating force for these simple-minded humans to conclude. Then, there was also the undivided attention from the Night class. Someone who is not a pure-blood was related to their precious of precious. How truly peculiar and intriguing.

But, it is what she wanted from the beginning. Curiosity can lead to a lot of things. Most of the time, they lead to very interesting things that she would not mind to have a hand in. "But, why aren't you in the Night class, Alice-chan?" She smiled at this question. That is a good question indeed. Why is she with such stupid humans that gathered around her like moths in an effort to appeal to her and in hopes it would reach the prince of their dreams. "Because, my brother is there. Distance is good don't you think? And..." She then looked ahead of her with a triumphant smile in which the girls gathering around her did the same. They immediately blushed at the sight which met their eyes. "I like it more when he is the one coming for me."

True to her words, Zenith was waiting for her as he leaned on the wall. It was time for lunch and he brought Alice a meal. This had become a routine for him. At the same time, he would also fetch her when classes are over. It is why the Day class were very much pleased with the addition of Alice. The Saint of Cross Academy had become a daily vision for them. He did not even deny or said anything about the little girl not being his sister. Knowing him, he was either keeping it under the wraps or did not want to lie. However, the relationship between the two was not something to be considered as false. Thus, they considered the sibling relationship to be true. In the end, the Rosenkreuz Lord was not alone at all.

Once Alice and her classmates approached him, the pure-blood gave them a polite nod as they greeted him with bashful words. Afterwards, he then gazed at his purpose of coming. "Alice, it is time to eat." She smiled brightly at this and immediately wrapped her hands around his arm. Never once did the pure-blood ever failed her expectations. She then looked at her classmates with a wink. "See you later!" Once that was stated, she pulled him away from the crowd. Outside the main halls, snow was falling like the solidified tears of the sky with such gentle sadness. As for him, he allowed the smaller girl to drag him. There were still a lot of questions in his mind. Suspicions and doubts, however, he did not want this glimmer of a dream to be destroyed with his pestering. So for now, this was fine for him.

"How was class?" Zenith queried as he was pleased to see that Alice was fitting well with the Day class even if she was not entirely human but not a vampire as well. If he could describe it, she was something between like Fujiwara. But then again, it was not the same. He knew for he had tasted the prefect's blood and the girl who he is with. "It was fine." Alice answered in an almost bored manner. Stopping in middle of the corridor, she turned to look at him with that usual emotional face of his. Her red eyes held a certain gleam that he could not identify. "Hey Zenith, do you like someone more than me?"

There was silence on his part. It was not because he had no one in mind or he did not want to lie. It was just every time he looks at Alice. All he could see was her. Would it proper to say no one when he was seeing another person entirely? He was confused but even so this never portrayed in his face, eyes, or gestures. "Oh, the prefect is here!" Alice noted with excitement as he looked at the direction. As for Alice, she bounded towards the girl and smiled sweetly. This prefect was truly of interest to her in more ways than one. "Hello Prefect Fujiwara!" She started and then that smile slowly changed into an amused one. Those eyes of red seemed to glow ever so softly which almost look like an illusion. "Hey, do you really believe you're the only one?" Alice's words hanged in the air before she returned to Zenith's side. "I'm hungry, Zenith! Let's go eat!"

"The only one? Of course, otherwise I wouldn't try keeping this secret of mine so tight lipped. If there were others...I wouldn't feel so alone."

The last few days had been a bit interesting. The Day Class students had been causing such a fuss over the new addition to the Class and the fact that her brother was in the Night Class. Asuka almost had trouble keeping them in line. As the only prefect, she could only do so much. Then, her thirst had come back. It wasn't satisfied any longer and she could barely keep it at bay with the dwindling blood tablets she had. She would have to get more soon because of the large doses she had been taking. Snow had disappeared in the last few days and she couldn't reach him. She couldn't understand why and this caused her to worry. And worry she did. The last few nights and days she hadn't been able to sleep. The images of those burned bodies had plagued Asuka, even though she had no relations to those people. But the way it affected Haruka, Asuka couldn't help but feel bad for the girl. Speaking of which, she hadn't seen Haruka either. The dorm room they shared had been left empty as if she were the only host.

"What is this place coming to," she thought to herself, running a hand over the base of her neck. She was tense, she could feel the knots along her shoulders and neck. She needed a massage. Maybe she'd get Hayate to give her one, assuming her brother was still around. He left the school on business after he received a letter. He wouldn't say who it was from, but Asuka didn't press him further about it. The added stress was not something she needed, but she knew he could take care of himself. As she did her rounds, she could hear giggles and laughter coming from the Students. It seemed the Rosenkruez pure-blood was around again, picking up his sister. It wouldn't have shocked her so much if the small girl had been a vampire as well, however; her enrollment into the Day Class had proven otherwise. Could this young girl truly be related to the pure-blood? Or was there something else going on?

Whatever it was, Asuka did not need to further herself in those matters. She had other things to worry about, such as her duty as a prefect and the thirst that seemed to be building over time. She sighed in frustration, grabbing and ruffling her hair in the process. She was snapped out of her thoughts when a voice called out to her. She blinked a couple of times, trying to regain her vision as she spotted the white haired girl she had come to know as Alice. "Ah, good afternoon Alice, Rosenkruez," she greeted the two in return, however; the words the girl spoke lingered in her mind as they registered. The only one? Only one what? What did this white-haired girl mean by that. The confusion was clear on her face about what the underlining meaning of those words was. She watched as she left and returned to Zenith's side.

"Such a strange girl" she stated as she sighed. The girl's eyes, for a moment, she thought they had glowed. Why would the girl's eyes glow? She wasn't a vampire, she was a human. Otherwise she wouldn't be in the Day Class. Perhaps it was just a trick of the eye, something that Asuka was coming to notice as of late. She shook her head as a slight pain over came it. This was just a bit too confusing for her and she could feel all of the questions suddenly flooding her mind. Was she truly the only one of her kind? If she wasn't, were there truly others like her? If there were, she wouldn't feel this deep emptiness in the pit of her heart and she wouldn't have to conceal who she was. Asuka allowed her eyes to falter a bit as they glazed over in thought, ignoring the white haired siblings in front of her. She wouldn't mind that at all, not hiding who she was. She could actually be herself for once, allow whatever it was that came over her to be free. She wouldn't have to struggle by herself to accept what she was, what she had been born into if there were others like her.

"No more nightmares," she whispered ever so lightly. Even though it was just a thought, the words still slipped passed her lips. It would be true, she would be free of those nightmares that plagued her. Perhaps she could finally find some insight as to what she was to begin with. Not only that, they could perhaps teach her how to control this thirst that burned at the back of her throat so much. It seemed that Sora's blood had finally burned out in her throat, and the hunger had only risen since. Subconsciously, she rubbed her throat as she remained where she was. It was as if she were glued to the floor and couldn't move. She was so very thirsty.

ā€œThere comes a time in everyoneā€™s life when they have to decide who they want to be. I decided that I was not going to be the kind of person who let myself submit.ā€

I think it looks rather fetching on you, Midori thought to him, her purring a steady thrum in his ear. The tiny kitten was presently draped over his shoulder, her overlarge eyes and rather adorable form making him appear perhaps a smidge less intimidating than he usually did. Perhaps the dark scowl on his face was sufficiently countering the effect, though, because the students still more or less scattered when he stalked his way down the hall. His eyes narrowed at the unwelcome comment, and he tugged uncomfortably at the prefectā€™s armband now fit snugly over his left bicep.

ā€œI think we both know youā€™re full of shit,ā€ he replied in a low mutter, then glared at a student who paused in her step long enough to gawk. Maybe this hadnā€™t been the best idea, butā€¦ he found it was one he couldnā€™t really let go of, once it had wormed its way into his mind like so much poison. The problem was, poisonous wasnā€™t really how he thought about it, though he probably should.

It hadnā€™t taken much to get the approvalā€”the Headmaster had been bothering him to take up these duties for as long as heā€™d been at the school. Of the two purebloods currently attending the academy, it was perhaps reasonable to think that the universally-feared one might be a little more suited to the task than the universally-loved one. Nobody was going to form a horde around him or miss class to stare longingly as he passed, that was for sure. At least, he hadnā€™t thought so. Apparently, some people didnā€™t know what was good for them, because he had managed to acquire a (small, and possibly masochistic) entourage, at least until he sent them fleeing with a dead-eyed look that somehow also managed to convey threat even with the adorable creature purring away on his shoulder.

Why had he chosen to do this at all? It was something he only half-understood himself, really. The base of it was, more than anything, a desire to help Fujiwara somehow, and as for why he wanted that, wellā€¦ if he remembered properly, that was the kind of thing friends did. Heā€™d never really concerned himself with the magnitude of the sacrifices heā€™d had to make for his friends or family, because those few people that managed to find themselves a place in his black, stony heart deserved everything he could give and then some. So, while maybe to most people, taking on all the responsibilities of a prefect was a bit much for someone to do as a favor (especially one unasked for), such thoughts had never occurred to him.

Eventually, he came upon the strange trio in the middle of the hallway, including his roommate, that weird sister of his (and he didnā€™t buy that she was human, but it wasnā€™t like he cared enough to say anything about it), and Fujiwara herself. He was inclined to just pass them by and let them talk about whatever they wanted in peace, but then he heard his fellow prefect whisper something most unusual. No more nightmares? What was that about?

It was enough to pause his tread, and he turned a void-dark gaze on the triplicate of people. ā€œSome kind of problem here?ā€ he asked flatly, though it was difficult to keep a note of suspicion from his tone. He was deeply suspicious of that little girl Rosenkreuz seemed so keen to coddle like a porcelain doll, and his eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly when they hit her, but then he ignored her like everything else, and settled for glancing first at Zenith, then Asuka. It was clear that whatever this was, it wasnā€™t exactly a normal conversation.

ā€œThis was the truth at the core of my existence: this yawning emptiness, scantily clad in rage. It had been there all along.ā€

The last few days passed in a blur for Haruka, when she first woke up in the infirmary, she refused to talk to anyone, it didn't help when the Headmaster came to her and told her that neither of the bodies could be identify, it didn't help at all. She spent the last few days in the infirmary, not sleeping, not eating, and barely talking. In fact the only people she would talk to were Zenith and Asuka, but neither came to visit her, so she stayed alone. After two days the Headmaster told her she could go out and walk around if she wished, so she could get away from the pestering school Doctors for a short time, but they hadn't judge her mentally fit to go back to classes yet, and Haru didn't mind, she didn't want to go back just yet, she would rather be alone for now.

Part of her wanted to get better, to believe that those people hadn't been her parents, that she shouldn't feel as hurt over this as she did, but Haruka blocked that part of herself out and locked herself into an empty shell. The doctors couldn't send her home, because she had no home, she was completely alone and when she left this school she would be homeless too. Today was the first day she took the Headmaster on his offer to allow her to walk around. She was dressed in normal clothes instead of her uniform, she wasn't going to classes and was told not to bother wearing it while she was 'mentally ill' instead she wore a pair of jeans, a long sleeve white shirt, a gray jacket and a pair of her old snow boots. It was too cold to wear anything else at the moment. Her long red hair was left down, through like the rest of her, it looked lifeless, she looked lifeless. Her skin was paler than normal, and dark circles lay under her eyes, showing her lack of sleep to the world.

She silently walked down the hallways that were nearly empty, her eyes taking in everything around her and yet nothing at the same time. It was nice to just walk around, it was more peaceful than going to classes or sitting alone in a room all day. She turned a corner and nearly ran into someones back, however she stopped just in time to avoid collision. Slowly Haruka looked up, her blue eyes meeting the form of Zenith and the girl that appeared to be his sister. Her face was an empty mask as she gazed at the two for a moment before carefully walking around them both. "Sorry..." Her voice now sounded as empty and lifeless as her eyes looked, and the mere sound of it made her cringe inside.

Haruka stopped once more, standing a few feet away from the prefects, Asuka and Sora. She smiled tightly at the other girl and tried to sound more alive as she addressed her, but there was no point. "Asuka...thank you..." She looked down at the ground, flashes of the corpses playing in her mind over and over again like the rewind button had gotten stuck. She wanted to ask the other girl if she was okay, since it had to be a horrible experience for her as well, and it was Haruka's fault, she had let the Prefect trail along, she hoped it hadn't had the same effect on Asuka as it had on her. Haruka would have asked her if everything was okay now, but she didn't trust her own voice.

"A beauty so fragile is twisted and demented which makes a perfect trap to shatter all into fragments."

Unsettling. Awkward. Suspicious. These were the words that entered Zenith's mind as the hall seem to be occupied by the five of them. Before, there was only Fujiwara. It did not go unnoticed by him the whispered words of Alice about not being the only one. The girl undoubtedly knew something. Yet, he could also never be sure if it was not that profound. Still, he has a hard time believing that it was a matter unrelated to the world of the night. Everything that Alice said even if appearing off-handedly weighed heavy with various interpretations which she never bothered to explain. It was like she desired it to be that way. She wanted the people to think and that is what she had done to them. Everyone was always guessing when around her.

When Alice had requested for them to eat, he would have done so. Even if, the pure-blood had heard about the prefect's whisper about nightmares. It was not his concern anymore. Moreover, everyone has them. He was note exempted to that. It was all about how one's perception of the events and environment around him. Whether this is to be for the good or the bad, it is something that the one who dreams can decide on. So, there was no use starting any kind of conversation or to express worry about it. No one was of consequence to him anymore. As long as Alice was here, nothing else mattered to the Zenith. Anyway, it was better to end it at that. However before he could bid goodbye properly, his roommate had arrived with his usual nondescript entrance.

It was a bit surprising even if Zenith still remained a visage of an emotionless corpse on the outside perfectly. There around the Tsukino pure-blood's arm was the armband which was a symbol of being a prefect. Gazing at it for quite sometime, he then spoke with his usual monotone voice. "Congratulations on being a prefect, Mr. Tsukino." It did not betray anything. No one was sure if he was pleased or not about it. In any case, his independent roommate had finally accepted the position of being guardian of Cross Academy. Tsukino fitted perfectly for that role which Zenith was certain of. At the same time, this was good news. Fujiwara would need help especially with what happened at the school festival. With them both, things should be more peaceful and orderly without doubt. Yes, it must be. His thoughts were interrupted when Tsukino asked if there was any problem. He also noticed the narrowed and suspicious look he had given Alice which was not to be blamed.

Before he could answer the query, Zenith felt something or rather someone colliding with him. There he was met with the presence of Haruka who seemed to imitate the lifelessness of things. But as he had told her before, he was not going to be by her side again. She does not belong to his world and that would be the end of that. Even if he was worried, he would not act on that again. At the same time, he had also declared this to Fujiwara. He had decided to be alone and being with them was something not needed. Thus, he would follow through that. Everything between them would be limited to mere accidental greetings and business matters if needed. Nothing more and nothing less.

Excusing herself, Zenith simply gave a nod of acknowledgement. There was no use staying here anymore. He would not bother the three and keep Alice waiting. "There is no problem here. Alice and I will take our leave now. Ms. Fujiwara. Ms. Yamazaki. Mr. Tsukino." Offering his hand to the white-haired girl, he waited for a response but Alice did something else. The girl shook her head and then looked at Asuka once more with a bright smile. "Scared of nightmares? Too bad. It's about to start." After saying that, she grabbed Zenith's hand and walked away. She was even humming a peculiar tune that was also faintly familiar to the three. More importantly, it was well-known to the Rosenkreuz pure-blood. It was the song that she would always hum.

Another statement that could be interpreted in more way than one was released by Alice. But, the next words that left the girl's lips was a bit more confusing. "Hey Zenith, do you know I have this friend named Sachiko?" Looking at the young girl, he wondered what this conversation will be about. They were still not that far from the others. "She can see bits of the future but, I'll tell you a secret." Alice stated rather with such high energy and childish glee which the pure-blood found rather endearing yet a bit apprehensive as well. "I like Kaede more. I like her so much! I can't wait to hug her to death." As she said those words, she looked over her shoulder and gazed at Sora. Her eyes held a certain glint of secret tainted with subtle hostility before looking at Zenith once more.

The Rosenkreuz pure-blood remained untainted by any kind of emotions that can be noticed outwardly. His eyes of gold remained vacant as he took the words of the girl at face value. It is because he has no idea who was Sachiko or Kaede and took them as her classmates. Although, he did notice her looking behind them to specifically Tsukino. Did something happen? Zenith was unsure of anything but then, he felt Alice tugging at his hand. It meant she wanted him to lower himself. So, they can be at the same height which he did. "Did you burned everything again?" There was a moment of silence before Zenith managed to answer that question. "Yes." With that, Alice smiled happily and then turned to look back at the trio. "See you all later." With that, she dragged Zenith once more.
