"I get it. You don't know if you feel the same. You don't have to, I'm not trying to force you into anything. I just wanted to make my feelings known to you so my approaches didn't deem creeper. I guess I will..uh, leave you to it, then." He started to leave, although most of his being was tugging at him to stay in the room and take the news like a man. But something wouldn't let him stay there and act hurt in front of. It would be beyond embarrassing and he had already humiliated himself enough.
He stopped in the doorway for just a moment. "If you need me, you know where I'll be." He coughed once then dashed outside, it felt like he was about to suffocate, and that his throat was tightening and the room was caving in around him. He needed to breathe.
He emerged from the house, stopping at the porch to inhale slowly but deeply through his nose before he pulled out a ciggarette. He lit it and gladly inhaled the toxic smoke.

Why was she doing this again? She couldn't help but ask herself.
Why was she pushing someone away...the first person in honestly years that seemed to actually like her?
It certainly wasn't for her image. Everyone saw her as a cold, bitter loner who couldn't get a guy if she tried.
It wasn't to do with her work. She was more or less stuck here without her laboratory or much contact with the others.
So why was it? Well, she knew why it was.
It was a little while later that she walked outside and stood by Ace, her hands pressed together and fingers knotted.
"Listen. As cliche and stupid as it mind sound...the reason I've behaved like I have is not becuase of you. You've been great and honestly...I would like to get to know you better...but you know if you do...you'll have to understand that I am a pain in the ass to pin down to any sort of commitment. It's not that I play arouind or anything....god no...it's just...I find it very hard to let my guard down after what happened with Noah. Subconsciously I feel like if I get attched to something, I'll lose it and get hurt, so I avoid attachment...and really I'm not sure how to break the cycle."

"I'm surprised you came back." He smiled, then shook his head.
"I understand, and it isn't very cliche. I get it, you've been through slot. But maybe I could help you. I want to. And so far, your not a pain in the ass at all. I'm too respectful to fight with you anyway. I would probably just cower and say your right to avoid anything like that."
He turned to face her and flicked his ciggarette away.
He held her chin with a gentle touch, his fingers brushing against her skin.

Her mother nodded, although she wasn't aware that this woman could not see her response.
"Mother," She whispered. "She is blind."
"Oh! I'm Xanna, Jenson McKinley's mother. Were you looking for the Alphess or Leader?" She asked curiously, her turquoise eyes flashing to her daughter's midnight blue orbs.
"I am Jenson...pay no attention to her." She lightly nudged her mother away who reluctantly slinked off to the house to leave the two alone as instructed.

"It's fine. Nice to meet you Mrs? McKinley and Jenson. I wasn't looking for anyone, I was just exploring. May I ask about yourself?" She replied, sticking out her hand in the direction of the voices.
"So are you the person who I was suppose to meet when I first came? I can't remember. I meet someone, who told me my place in the pack." Enga blinked and smiled softly.

She lay her palm out, and a wave of immense fire power erupted around the woman, but in the same instant that the heat had arrived, she let it evaporate into the oncoming winds.
"I am trained with flames. Mmmm, I am basically called the mother around here, if I'm not making orders, I am worrying about one person or another, recently accepting my brother into my life again. Ian...that's a whole different story, however."

"I wish I had a family." Enga whispered, smiling "What can you do? Sorry if it's an inconvenience." She blinked delicately, shivering.
"Mmm. The mother, that's nice. Makes you sound kind but bossy. You seem kind." Enga replied, smiling dutifully.
She fiddled with her hair as she leans towards the tree she knows is by her side. She had gotten adapted to the trees around her even though she had only been here a few days.

"...it's not that I think the way I react to people is right...I'm not looking for you to condone me trying to push you or anyone else away...it's just a natural reflex. It's become a habit." she tried to explain.
"...and it's a habit I'm not totally sure how to break, to be perfectly honest. Always been in a position of keeping my guard up...not that it's helped me that mush as I've gotten messed up by Cray twice now."
