a character in “Van Helsing Academy: Warriors of Daylight”, originally authored by Shi-chan, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Image

Name: Callen McDugal
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Country of birth: Korea

Callen is unusually tall, towering at 189 cm, something out of the ordinary since her origin is Asian. Her body is slender, and as such, she pretty much doesn't have curves. Somehow, she moves with great confidence, despite almost always looking like she is very awkward with herself. Her skin is a pale light brown colour, and her eyes are dark brown. Her hair is naturally black, but she dyes it a flaming red, and has done so for several years. With long arms and legs she is prevented from looking very graceful, and should one cast only one glance at her, she would rarely be called beautiful. Charming, maybe, but not beautiful.

She likes boyish clothing, and can often be seen in simple t-shirts and a pair of jeans. She never wears jewellery, or anything like it.

Callen is a Backup.

Personality

Callen wants attention. And if she doesn't get it, she will take it. She is ruthless and unforgiving, but also strong and caring. Those who are her friends, she will do anything for, but should anyone disappoint her, she will let them know. Being so harsh means that there are few who care about her, but those who do will find that she will give her life for a good friend. She is a firm believer in everything fantastical, and an incurable daydreamer. One of her biggest dreams is to someday meet a dragon. Callen sees many virtues as important, and does her best to keep to them. Courage, trust, wisdom and loyalty are those she cares most for, and she is eagerly awaiting the day she can prove to herself, and everyone else that she embodies them.

She has insecurities, like most people have about themselves. For example, she is afraid that no one will ever fall in love with her, because she has a difficult time feeling good about her physical self. This is not something that haunts her often, and not something that somehow makes her unable to do the things she wants to do, but it means that she cannot emotionally surrender herself to someone else.

The act of falling in love and accepting this to her seems harsh, and when accepted, something that will only fade given years.

Favourite song: Globus - Take Me Away (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nioflv9Xn5I)
Favourite colour: Red, orange. Any colour that looks like fire.

Other: She also has a great interest in clocks and watches, mostly because all the tiny parts fascinate her a great deal. As a kid, she also played a lot of rugby, and has a secret love for the sport. She loves puzzles of all shapes and sizes, and can spend hours trying to figure one of them out.

Equipment

Callen usually carries books around, mainly on mechanics and explosives, since those are the two subjects she likes the most.

Currently she carries a large leather back around, filled with things she thought would come in handy. This includes the following:

3x gasmasks
5x candles
2x lighter
1x small medical kit
4x stakes (silver tipped)
3x cloves of garlic
1x hand mirror (for looking around corners and the like.)
1x sewing kit (for fixing ripped clothes etc.)
3x wrenches of different sizes. One is large enough to use as a weapon.
XXXXx screws, bolts and nuts. Each type in their own little box, carefully organised.
1x album with family photos.

History

Callen was born in North Korea, but her parents either didn't want her, or couldn't provide for her, so they put her up for adoption (smuggled her out of the country). A few years later, when Callen was four, she was adopted by the couple Ian and Gillian. They brought her to Scotland, and gave her a new name, and here she spent the next many years. When she turned 15, her parents decided to enroll her at a boarding school, since Callen appeared to have behavioural issues. Before they could even find a school, they were contacted by The Van Helsing Academy, who'd be more than happy to have Callen as a student.

She comes from a large family, and is the fifth of seven children (none of them biological children of Gillian and Ian), who are from all different corners of the world. Her siblings mean a lot to her, and thus they will be briefly described here.

Artair (means bear or stone), 22, originates from Wales, oldest of the bunch.
A gentle giant, so to say. Being the oldest, he's always had a lot of responsibility, and is used to looking after others. He is in training to become a smith and wishes to settle down with a pretty wife, and having a couple of children. He has a face that makes him look like an angry bear, but in truth he couldn't be a nicer or calmer guy.

Catan and Cathal (means small cat and battle mighty), 19 (twins), originates from Argentina,
Two young men, who share an interest in books. Being twins, they've always had each others backs, and stood together through whichever storm they could've gotten themselves into. Both have a history of petty thievery. They are almost completely alike physically, with fairly dark skin and dark hair and eyes.

Ròs (means the rose flower), 18, originates from Africa, oldest girl.
A girl who has a royal look, and great confidence. She carries herself like a queen, and with high cheekbones, full lips, and soulful eyes, she is beautiful. However, she's never had any direction in her life, and so, she spends most of her time doing nothing. She wanted to join Callen at the academy, but couldn't due to her own frail bone structure.

Callen (means rock), 17, originates from North Korea,

Gormal (means deep blue eye) 14, originates from Russia
Gormal has, much like his name suggests, blue eyes. He is at that age where growth spurts are an almost daily occurrence, and where his hormones are running wild. He has fair hair, and is generally a pretty shy guy. He might have a minor crush on Anna.

Conan (Means wee doggie) 11
The youngest of the bunch, and everybody's cute younger brother. He thinks that collecting bugs, and his brother Artair are the coolest things on the planet. He loves his parents to death, and his beat friend is the family dog, Walter.

Walter, the dog.
Huge lovable old english sheepdog. Decides very quickly if it likes people or not, and cannot be won over by any number of treats. His favourite human is Gillian, but right after her is Conan.

Timothy couldn't sleep, not that it was night when people usually slept. He had more then enough excuse however. His muscles dropped from fatigue, any strength and energy burned out by dragging his corpse and Jones' body back from their mission. After returning to his room he attempted to let his body rest, his mind could not. Every time he lets his eyelids drift shut, recollections and imaginations painted themselves in the darkness. Screams and horrors keeping him from sleep. Instead he could only lie, letting time filter away, and give his body a chance to rest. When the dullness overwhelmed he took to wandering, exploring the halls and corridors he knew well enough anyway. He ignored the curious looks at his slightly shattered features. Although freshened and clean the red scratches and purple bruises stood out marvelously. It wasn't the worse of his injuries, as the bandages hidden beneath his clothing suggested.

He walks took him through the cafeteria multiple times, each subsequent visit providing yet another cup of coffee and a light meal to accompany the feast he had consumed his first visit. This was his fifth foray and he supposed that if it wasn't for his tell-tale condition and the rumors already circulating he would've been bared from further consumption. Word of the failed excursion and the conditions of those who were on it. Many were largely exaggerated; Several deaths; Infection and turnings; Betrayal. None really strayed close to the terror of what happened, the sight of the dead, undead and the adrenaline of fighting and running for your life. Timothy never made eye contact with those watching him with several expressions, he didn't really know as he didn't look. It was a relief to see someone who's attention wasn't on himself. Yet it was curious that the person in particular was familiar.

The girl from earlier, the one with the journal. Jones' friend. Timothy paused for a moment, he was curious about what the book had said. He wondered if she had yet checked it. In a way he felt he should also withdraw his request to know. It seemed they were close, she may prefer to feel that whatever was passed on to her was a little more special between the two. A favour to the dead. A favour the Timothy knew he owed. The moments of hesitation that most likely brought this upon them. At the very least he ought to know her name and let her know his. He moved over to the table where she was gather in what seemed almost conspiring nature. He set the coffee down on the table. His eyes boasted dark rims of lethargy and there was no joy in his dull frown. However he squeezed out a kind enough greeting.

"Hello again." He addressed Anna but his gaze passed over the other three and nodded politely to each of them in turn. "I would think you heard about Jones?" His voice dropped as he brought up the man and he looked away with a little sadness.
"We never introduced ourselves. I'm Timothy Arden, a soldier. I hope you don't mind me joining you." The later phrase was addressed to the group as a whole, although he expected they wouldn't find him contributing to the conversation. He waited for a dismissal before setting down his coffee cup and taking a place opposing the girl next to one of the others.

Timothy was glad when the general consensus allowed him to remain. He actually recognized some of the faces, just people he had spotted before and otherwise had no connection with. The academy wasn't the biggest institution, the clients awere difficult to come by. It seemed that these people were friendly enough and they didn't particularly seem to hold anything against him for no reason, as some people seemed to. Either they ignored the rumors for what they were or they hadn't heard. He chose to hope for the former. There were far better vibes emanating from them then from himself. They seemed at least a little cheerful. Timothy wasn't, his mood had improve but a sour after taste remained, poisoning his countenance and leaving him unmistakably dour. He didn't try to paste a smile on his face either, he probably wouldn't get away with it anyway.

Anna's query piqued Arden's interest.
I expect you would like to know if I took a look at the book?" She said, seeming brought back down by the mention of her friend. Again Timothy felt the conflict of interests, Anna's personal feelings and his own curiosity. It seemed the situation was weighted against him. Seeing as she brought up the subject around others indicated that she was willing to share it. Also Timothy couldn't help but assume that whoever the others were, Viktor and Callen, they knew already. Still he felt bad, prying into what seemed like personal details.
Well if you are willing to tell the, yes..." Timothy dropped off, as if looking for something more to say. Yet all that he could think off drifted back to the village, Jones' death, his own fault. None of those would be a welcome subject to bring up so the young man left off, awaiting a reply.
