Felix is half-elf and, as such, stands quite tall at six feet and seven inches. He has a build that is slender and muscular, and he weighs at 220 pounds. His skin is quite fair and rarely tans much - if at all - even after sun exposure, which is impressive given the amount of time he typically spends outdoors. He has red hair that is curly and thick in texture and comes down past his ears, though he usually combs it out as much as he can to minimize the curls. He has a narrow but strong jawline, high cheekbones, a sharp and defined nose, and low brows with a slight arch to them. Because he is half-elf, his ears have a slightly pointed tip. Felix's eyes are a bright shade of light blue, and can transition from cold and icy to warm and friendly as quick as anything. Felix almost always has a mess of facial hair across his cheeks and chin since he doesn't always have time to shave, though he will shave it whenever he has the opportunity to do so. He has a large tattoo of a dragon on his left arm, a tattoo of a dragon curled around a sword on his lower left leg, a memorial tattoo on his right forearm, and a more symbolic tattoo on his right shoulder. He also has a pretty gnarly scar on his right leg and another large scar on his left hip.

Overall, Felix is a good man. He believes in treating others with respect and fighting with dignity and honour. He is typically quite generous and has been known to perform tasks and sellsword work for free for those who can't afford his services if he believes the cause to be just and noble. He is highly skilled in both archery and swordsmanship, but can easily handle himself without a weapon if the situation calls for it. He isn't a particularly humourous or jovial person, though he does know how to appreciate the jokes told by others. Felix is secretly a passionate romantic who dreams of falling deeply and wildly in love and performing romantic gestures to show his lover how he feels, but his job unfortunately allows him little time or stability to be seeking out a partner. He lacks loyalty due to the nature of his work, and will happily change sides or defect if the money is right. He is fierce and tough, and he believes that it is important to be respectful to all, especially women. He despises people who mistreat women, whom he believes to be gifts upon the world from the gods, despite being attracted to both men and women. He is something of a flirt, though it is unintentional on his part.

Felix was born on a small farm far away to a human, Isaac MacLachlainn, and an elf, Isaac's wife Marta. They were a pair of poor farmers struggling to get by. Felix was the youngest of four sons, with three older brothers named Cathal (36), Alastair (34), and Iain (31). As a child, Felix's parents couldn't afford to send him or his brothers to get their educations, instead needing them to stay at home and help out on the farm. As a result, all four boys grew tough and strong, and more than physically capable. They enjoyed play swordfighting together in their spare time. When Felix was five, a terrible plague swept through their kingdom, killing many. Felix was six years old when his mother passed away, and the boys were all devastated. They had to work harder in her absence to make up for the labour they'd lost. Their father often said it was a miracle none of them caught the plague, as they'd all stayed healthy through the three years of the plague's devastation.

ImageIt was over a decade before Isaac MacLachlainn remarried. He met a woman named Diane, whose husband had also died as a result of the plague. They quickly bonded over this and were wed after seven months of courtship. Felix had just turned eighteen at the time. Diane moved to the little farm, bringing with her a pair of daughters. Arabella was the elder of the two, and she was twenty-four years old. The younger sister, Eloise, was seventeen years old. Arabella was engaged to be married, and didn't live long with them at the farm. Although Eloise was his stepsister, Felix couldn't help but to be utterly smitten with her when he first laid eyes on her at the wedding, and the attraction was mutual.

Felix and Eloise started to spend a great deal of time together, both tiptoeing around their feelings and trying not to admit them until one afternoon when they were alone at the farm. Isaac and Diane had gone to the market for the day, Cathal had long since moved out of the home with his new bride, and Alastair had taken Iain out fishing since all the work to be done around the farm had been finished and there was time to be enjoyed. Felix and Eloise were feeding the animals when a sudden rainstorm forced them to dash into the barn for shelter. They ended up stuck in there for a long time, just sitting and talking until, after many months of avoiding admitting how they felt, the two kissed, and then made love in the hay. They both felt shameful afterwards, but there had been no way for either of them to keep denying and fighting the attraction they felt to one another.

Alastair soon married and moved out of the farmhouse, and about a week after the wedding, Eloise discovered that she was pregnant. She went to Felix first, and the two were uncertain what to do about this news. They decided that the best course of action would be for Eloise to lie to their parents about who the father was, so they went to Isaac and Diane, and Eloise told them that she was pregnant and that she didn't know the father's name, only that he'd been a guest at Alastair's wedding on the bride's side and that they'd had a brief tryst during the reception. Their parents were disappointed, but agreed to help Eloise how ever they could.

It was at this point that Felix realized he needed to do more with his life than just work the farm. Cathal had moved on to the farm of his new wife, while Alastair's wife had a bit more money than their family did and he'd moved into a home in the city with her. Iain didn't plan to marry and intended to work the farm with their father forever, but Felix didn't want that for himself. He wanted to go out and make something of himself, and he wanted to find a way to provide for Eloise and their child. He decided to leave home, and he mastered the art of combat while he was out in the world. He started to sell his blade, finding that sellsword work was good for him. He would work as a bodyguard or escort, he would settle disputes and collect debts, he would sometimes perform rescues, and other times he would be hired to kill. He made good money as a sellsword, and would come home whenever he could to help his family with the gold he had made.

Eloise gave birth to a baby girl while Felix was away, whom she named Felicia Julie, claiming she'd named the baby after her favoured stepbrother though she and Felix both knew she'd named the baby after its father. Felix, who was twenty at the time of his daughter's birth, adored the baby, whom they called his niece though she was his daughter, and he worked hard to ensure that she would always be fed, clothed, and sheltered.

One night while Felix was away, however, tragedy struck. It turned out that Diane's late husband owed a lot of money to a very shadowy group, though nobody knew of this. Diane had unknowingly managed to evade them for all these years as she had moved after her husband's death, and then had moved in with Isaac's family and changed her last name, but they finally caught up with her. A group of mercenaries came to the farmhouse and demanded payment that the family couldn't afford. Isaac and Diane begged them to be reasonable, but when they couldn't pay, the mercenaries killed everybody at home - Isaac and Diane were killed, while Iain only managed to evade death by playing dead, though he was severely injured. Eloise wasn't home at the time, having gone to market, but the baby was home - and the mercenaries took pity on the innocent child, taking her away with them.

When Felix got home only a few days later, he found the farm heavy with the stench of death, but the bodies had been moved. He was horrified when he found out that his father and stepmother were both dead, and had been interred by his brothers. He rushed to visit Cathal, relieved that he was alive and well, and that his wife was tending to Iain's injuries. When Felix asked Iain what had become of Eloise and Felicia, his brother informed him that Eloise hadn't been home at the time of the attack, and that the baby had been taken by the mercenaries. Cathal and Iain hadn't seen Eloise since the attack, though, and when Felix went to visit Alastair, he received the same information. Even Arabella told Felix the same thing. Nobody had seen Eloise, and none knew what had become of her.

Felix began to search desperately for his missing lover and their daughter. He traveled to every orphanage, temple, and chapel in the area asking if anyone had brought in an infant, but none were his Felicia. Though both Eloise and Felicia were reported missing to the guards, it seemed as if they'd vanished without even a trace. The family was baffled. Felix fell into a brief few months of alcoholism before putting himself back together and deciding that it was time to move forward. He hoped that one day, perhaps, he would find Eloise or Felicia alive and well - or both of them, perhaps. In the nearly ten years since their disappearance, Felix has managed to heal from the loss of them. He finally confessed to his three brothers that he was, in fact, Felicia's father, and while all three of them were shocked by this news, they said they saw no problem with it - Eloise wasn't, after all, their blood relation, and she was an attractive woman - and they understood why the loss of the girls had hit him so hard.

Felix has had brief relationships since then, but they never last long. He longs for an epic love like what he had with Eloise. He works hard and has built up quite a fortune and a name for himself. He still keeps his eyes and ears open for traces of Eloise or Felicia, though no news has come to him since their initial disappearance. Most recently, Felix has ventured as far as Veritas Isle. He has decided to travel to the island to seek out a dragon companion for himself, as his work can get lonely when he travels and he thinks a dragon would be a pretty cool companion to have with him.

Helena had worked all day at the shop and was sleeping when she woke up. Something told her she needed to get up and go to the beach. Who was she to deny fate? So she threw on an easy dress and snuck out her window before going off and to the beach. It was a nice and breezy summer night and she could smell it. Once her toes hit the sand they curled and she walked along the shoreline, holding her dress up a bit so it wouldn't get wet. Her eyes looked up at the moon, enjoying its beauty before closing her eyes and taking in its rays. She began to sing softly to it.

"And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
And sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am"

It was late at night when Felix finally arrived in the kingdom that harboured the floating islands. He'd checked into a hotel but, for whatever reason, found himself restless. Finally, he threw on some plain jeans and a loose-fitting white shirt and left his hotel room, figuring he'd take a walk down to the beach and gaze up at the floating islands from there. It had been a long time since he'd walked on a beach. He found the beach with ease, and as he headed for the sand, he could hear a soft voice singing not far from where he was. His red curls fluttered in the breeze as his gaze followed the sound, spotting a young woman a little ways down the beach, singing and walking in the sand. He blinked, glancing down at his own feet as they hit the sand. Was it weird for him to be here? Would he look like some sort of creep if he lingered about? He wasn't certain. He tried not to look in the girl's direction, instead beginning to walk down towards the water.

The breeze seemed to shift and Helena and shifted her gaze. She found a man, whom she thought might be a tourist because she knew no man with such red curls. A smile crept on her face and she let the man be for a moment. Her eyes shifted to the floating islands. It was magnificient how they floated and stayed on one spot. Once that moment passed she crept her way towards him. "Aye, you must be a tourist. I would remember a man with such red curls." She smiled and slipped her hands into her pockets as she walked.

Felix stood near the water, blinking when he heard the woman speaking. He'd not even heard her approach yet, somehow, she had. He turned around to face her, eyeing her in the moonlight. She was certainly a sight for travel-weary eyes. "A tourist indeed," he said with a chuckle and a nod. "And you must be a local, to presume that you'd know everyone who's not a tourist," he added with a bit of a smirk, his blue eyes shining in the moonlight as he ran a hand through his curls.

Helena giggled a bit, "Ayee so you are right." She said, watching him run his fingers through his curls. He was a handsome one, she had to admit. A man like that had to have a wife sleeping about somewhere, maybe even a spawn or three. "What brings you to Forestville? Let me guess." She closed her eyes and tapped a finger to her nose before pointing to the floating islands. "You came for those." She said with a smile.

Felix smiled a bit when she guessed why he had come to town, giving a nod as his gaze followed her finger to the floating islands at which she pointed. "Yes, I did. I would assume you hear that a lot, though, don't you?" he said with a smile. He wasn't surprised that people passed through here frequently on their way to the floating islands. They were well-known across the world, and many only dreamt of going to see them one day.

Helena nodded, "Oh yeah..." She said and smiled. It was not surprising to her that he was going up there. She had been up a good few times herself. She could see why people loved it so much, but home was here and she refused to move. "If you go early in the morning you might get to see the city before it gets too busy. If you go to the lake islands and want to see the dragons don't just go stomping in, go in with caution. There is this big dragon who patrols and well... it will be safer to go in cautiously." She smiled and looked up to see a dragon flying. "Ahh and that would be Regha and Bel. He likes to take his dragon out at night." She said softly and looked back down at the redheaded man.

Felix smiled a bit when the young lady suggested going to see the floating city early in the morning because it wouldn't be so busy. "Does that mean it's really busy during the day? I suppose I shouldn't be at all surprised by that. It's probably a very popular area with tourists," he said. He smiled a bit when she warned him to approach the dragons cautiously. "I feel like that should just be common sense. Do people often go stomping in?" he asked. When she looked up and pointed out the dragon soaring in the sky, he lifted his gaze to watch it, smiling a bit at the magnificent sight.

Helena smiled, "Oh yeah, very busy. Especially since they are getting ready for the summer festival." She said and smiled. "I have been to a couple of its festivals, but I think I like it a little better from here. You can hear it if you stand on the beach. It gives you a sense of mystery. Then you get to watch the fireworks and that is also lovely." She said before laughing a bit. "Ahh yes... well some don't have an inkling of common sense and we usually see them come down huffing and a puffing about being knocked down by a dragon." She said softly. She was happy he was a talkative type. It meant she didn't have to pull gently for conversation.

Felix smiled as the girl talked about the the festivals on the island. There was something of a light in her eyes when she talked about how lovely the fireworks were, although perhaps that was just the moonlight. He chuckled a bit at the prospect of people not having the common sense to approach dragons with caution. "Well, I doubt I'll be around long enough to get to enjoy the festival, but I'll definitely take care not to go charging in all willy-nilly when I go to see the dragons," he told he with a chuckle. "Hey, what's your name? I'm Felix, and I appreciate the advice."

Helena nodded when he said he wouldn't be here for the festival, "Aw... well maybe a next time... it is worth at least one go around." She said and laughed a bit before blinking. When he asked for her name she smiled a bit, she liked that he cared enough to want to know. "Felix... suits you rather well." She smiled before answering him. "It means light or bright... I promise to give you the answer if you meet me tomorrow, same time, right here." She said softly.

Felix smiled when she said the festival was worth going to at least once. Perhaps he'd have to come back around, or perhaps he'd have to stick around a little bit longer so he could enjoy it. He raised an eyebrow slightly when she said she'd only tell him her name if he came back the next night. He pretended to think about it for a moment, and then he nodded. "Well, okay, then. Same place, same time tomorrow," he said.

Helena smiled when he agreed to come back the next night. So he was the reason why she had to be woken up in the middle of the night and go to the beach. She could hardly complain, the man was by far handsome, and so far he seemed to be interesting enough. She had met many tourist and some were not so interesting, being almost cookie cutter. "So, Mr. Felix, where are you from and is it very far from here?" She asked.

Felix smiled when the girl asked him where he was from and whether it was far, and he nodded. "It's rather far, yes. I come from the Kingdom of Saeborg, if you've heard of it. I'm a sellsword, though, so I travel depending on where my work takes me," he explained to her with a smile. "And you - are you originally from here?" he asked curiously. There was something so intriguing about this young lady - and young was right, because she certainly looked quite young, although he knew that looks could be deceiving.

Helena's eyes got wide when he told her where she was from. "Oh wow..." She laughed. "That is... wow quite the travel you have done." She said and shook her head a bit. "I have heard of it a bit, only because we have had tourist from there, but only a tad bit. I know it is rather far though." She said and then nodded when he asked her if she was originally from here. "Ah, yeah... my whole seventeen years." She giggled. "I live riiigghhttt there." She pointed to the house. It was rather close. All she had to do was cross the street and she was at the beach. "Family shop. Mother was from here, her mother owns the shop, and father was a fisher boy who had become a fisher himself." She smiled. "But your job sounds... a good bit interesting. I know you must have some stories. I have met a few in my day." She said as if she was old and smiled up at him.

Felix chuckled a little at how surprised she was to hear about how far his home was. "Yes, quite the travel," he agreed with a nod. When she said she'd been here her whole seventeen years, he blinked slightly. Seventeen? She was only seventeen? Well, at least he'd found out before going and doing anything stupid. He was not about to get himself arrested over a seventeen-year-old, no matter how...enchanting...she looked in the moonlight. "Ah, a shop. That's adorable," he said with a chuckle. He nodded when she said he must have some stories. "I suppose I do," he said.

Helena smiled, "I suppose so... I will have to tell my granny that you think so." She smiled. There was a pull to this man, something she couldn't quite put a finger on. "Hmm... have you ever had your palm read?" She asked softly, point to his palm a bit. "If you keep your word I can give you one tomorrow night. Or does a girl who read palms scare ya? I have had some men back away." She giggled at the thought. She wanted to see his story. Helena was sent here for a reason and she had to find out exactly why she had to meet this man.

Felix chuckled a bit when the girl said that she would have to tell her grandma that he found the idea of a little family-owned shop to be adorable. When she asked if he'd had his palm read and offered to do it for him the next night when they met up, he raised an eyebrow slightly. "Ah, I hold no belief in such things. My belief is more founded in what the eyes can see and the ears can hear. Besides, I think you'll find my palms a bit rough for such things," he said, glancing down at one heavily callused and scarred hand.

Helena shook her head, "no matter how rough ya hands are... fate will shine right through." She smiled. "But for fun I shall do it... who knows... maybe you will see it with your own eyes. If ya ain't chicken you will let me read them and if I am right you have to come back one more night to the beach... same time." She smiled. It wasn't unusual for a male to find her palm readings a hoax, women generally believed it more. She had a feeling she would be right about his though.

Felix raised an eyebrow when she spoke, curious as to why she thought that he would need to come back a third time after she allegedly read his palm. He gave a nod, though. "Very well, then," he said. "So tomorrow night, I return, you tell me your name, and you read my palm. Sounds like a fair arrangement - and what, exactly, do you get out of this? Do you demand payment in return for reading my palm?" he asked. A palm reading was definitely not something Felix intended on buying.

Helena saw his eyebrow rose again and she had to press down a giggled. Yes, yes, yes... of course, it does." She answered him and when he asked what she got out of this she blinked. "An answer. If you think I want your money, Felix, I do not. I was woken up from a dead sleep and brought here... obviously, fate had me meet you for some reason. I am just wondering why." She said softly. The waves crashed behind her as the breeze ran by, her dress dancing in it.

Felix blinked when she said that what she got out of this was an answer. An answer to what? But, then, she explained that she'd woken up and found herself here for no real reason, a story that sounded all too familiar to the sellsword. "Ah. So, you couldn't sleep. I couldn't sleep, either," he admitted, though he suspected that such a statement would fuel her fire for fate and fortunes. "I don't think there was any reason to it. Just a coincidence. Now," he said with a slight smirk, "if you were someone in need, or a beautiful woman close to my own age, or someone I'd met before, elsewhere in the world... now, that might be fate. But you are a stranger," he said with a chuckle.

Helena smirked when he said he couldn't sleep either. He could believe what he wants, by the time she was done reading his palm he would be a believer in something. "Curses, should have worn my pink dress and kept shut about my age. Tis." She joked with a smirk. There was a light in his eyes, even while dark like this, that she could see. A hope... something to that sorts. She nodded, mostly to herself, that she would indeed find out tomorrow night.

Felix raised an eyebrow slightly at her words, chuckling and shaking his head a bit. "Well, it's too late for that. You opened your mouth about your age, so I know that your so-called fate didn't bring me here for romance," he said with a laugh. She was amusing, he had to admit. Of course, he knew seventeen-year-olds could be perfectly mature. He and Eloise, after all, had been eighteen and seventeen when their parents had married, and they'd had quite the mature adult conversations about...well, everything. "So, what do you do around here for fun when you're not...you know, reading palms for tourists?" he chuckled.

Helena smirked and shook her head, "Yes, no romance. Still leaves a bajillion reasons and answers." She said. He had a wit about him that she could appreciate. When he asked her what there is to do around here that was fun she snickered a bit and shook her head. "Well from a seventeen-year-old's perspective..." She joked with a smile, "there are places you can tour. One of them is the old tea factory that is run by one of my best friend's parents or if you like all things spooks you can go to the other side of the town where shipwrecks happen. On Thursday down at town hall is bingo." She giggled. "Or you know you can have bonfires in the woods with me and my girls and do all things witchy." She winked. "It is a small town under something magical. It is very dull compared to the floating islands unless you love sleepy little towns where people go missing and things go bump in the night." She smiled.
