| Race/Species: Dwarf | Hair Colour: Dark brown | Eye Colour: Brown | Skin Colour: Light tanned | Trade: Baker/Cook |
Appearance:
Gamaya is of medium height compared to her siblings, standing at four feet and eight inches - taller than some, shorter than others - and weighing 125 pounds. Her skin is lighter than most of her siblings, but is still lightly tanned. She is relatively curvy compared to her more slender sisters. Her hair is dark brown and though it has a natural wave to it, she tends to take the time to press it straight. She has brown eyes and elegant facial features, with full lips, good eyebrows, thick eyelashes, and a petite nose. Being a mother, Gamaya usually dresses for comfort rather than style, typically opting to wear comfortable jeans, sweatpants, or leggings with plain shirts. She has a gold wedding band on her left ring finger and a tattoo of a little panda bear just below her left collarbone.
Personality:
Gamaya is a gentle, good-hearted young woman with a passion for her family. She isn't terribly upbeat and outgoing, but she also isn't shy or reserved. Her maternal instincts are strong; she is extremely family-oriented and would do anything for her siblings or her son. Gamaya tends to be a very emotional person and can get caught up in her feelings quite easily, though she can easily stop when needed in order to care for her son or other family members. Gamaya has known for her entire life that she wanted to have a big family one day. Gamaya is a hopeless romantic; she believes in soul mates and true love, which is why she married almost right away at the age of only twenty years old. Gamaya loves to give advice, though she doesn't always give the best advice because she's still young herself and is still figuring things out. Her first priority is always her son and she will do anything for him.
History/Bio:
Gamaya is the third Garmold child and the first daughter of the family. As a child she loved to play dress-up and house and would often force her family - her two reluctant older brothers and her little sister, and then the next little brother when he was big enough - to play house with her. She frequently tried to help her mother cook when she was little, so her mother started teaching her to cook. When she showed a knack and a passion for it, they decided to have her trained as a cook and a baker, and Gamaya loved it. She took over much of the cooking for her family so she could practice, and when she turned sixteen she got a job working in the kitchen of one of Bhagh-Nernwahrum's taverns.
It was at the tavern a couple years later that Gamaya met the man she would go on to marry. Kallias was a year older than her and he was a young blacksmith who liked to head to the tavern and relax with a few drinks after a long day at work. He loved the food Gamaya prepared, and would often leave tips intended for the cook. One night he stayed late after the tavern closed so he could meet her without getting in the way of her work, and they both felt a connection right away. He walked her home and asked her to go on a date, and the two quickly fell in love. They got married after being together for two years, when she was twenty and he was twenty-one, and they had their son, Danonte, two years later.
Gamaya was sad when her siblings started to leave the city for the surface land one by one - first her oldest sister Barynn, and then one of her older brothers Istrain, followed by her two youngest sisters Yoranda and Unarelle - the twins - and finally her younger brother Cherono. All that remained in Bhagh-Nernwahrum were her, her oldest brother, and her youngest brother. Her parents were furious that they'd lost so many of their children to the surface world, and Gamaya couldn't help but to wonder what it was about the surface world that was so alluring to her siblings that they'd leave and refuse to return. She was quite happy with her life, though; she had a loving husband and a baby boy to take care of, so leaving was not an option.
Everything was lovely until one day when her husband, Kallias, was injured at work. Rather than going to see a healer right away, he simply cleaned and bandaged it up himself before getting back to work; he had an important order to fill and wasn't interested in losing out on time during the work day to go get his injury looked at. He went to see the healers when he finished work, and though they cleaned and dressed his wound properly, it had already become infected due to exposure to his work materials. They tried to tend it but nothing seemed to be helping, and Kallias fell ill. Gamaya, worried for her husband's life, sent a letter to her sister Unarelle, the best healer in Bhagh-Nernwahrum, asking her to come home and help save Kallias. Unarelle, accompanied by older brother Istrain, came quickly to help, but it was too late; Kallias died before Unarelle and Istrain arrived. The two of them stayed in the city for the funeral to be there for Gamaya, who was devastated by the loss of her husband. She had to stay strong for Danonte, but it was hard. When Istrain and Unarelle said that they were leaving to go back to their new home on the surface, Gamaya impulsively decided to go with them. She couldn't bear to be at home much longer, not when everything she did and every place she went reminded her of her husband, and she felt that she needed a change of scenery to help her grieve properly and move forward.
