ImageName:
Haera Keavaris

Age:
28

Gender:
Female

Race:
Elf-Dwarf

Appearance:
Haera stands at 5 feet and 5 inches. Her hair is short, wavy, and blonde. It falls almost down to her shoulders. She likes to wear goggles on her head. Her eyes are a light golden color and her skin is a light tan color. In the picture is what she normally wears.

Personality:
Haera is a tough individual. She likes to use brute force with anything. Unlike her older sister, Haera is blunt and to the point. It hurt your feelings? Oh well. She can be nice, mostly to her family, but you have to get to know her and getting to know her could be pretty hard since she doesn't trust many people outside of her family and close friends.

Family:
  • Father- Filarion Keavaris
  • Mother- Penelo Keavaris
  • Sibling 1- Nasir Keavaris
  • Sibling 2- Ameria Keavaris
  • Sibling 3- Elwin Keavaris
  • Sibling 4- Roshia Keavaris
  • Sibling 5- Beluar Keavaris
  • Sibling 6- Lorelei Keavaris
  • Sibling 7- Agis Keavaris
History:
Haera is the third child born in the Kaevaris' household. She was born under the night sky, the night her great great great great grandfather's old home was at war once again and had called upon her father to join that war and like a man of honor, her father did so.

The battle lasted many months and by the time her father got home she was almost a year old. Feeling horrible about missing her first year he told her stories of his family and the wars that they partook. Haera grew up with these stories and hoped one day she would too be called in to serve in a battle or war. From the stories her father told her, it was an honor to serve for the people you love. To protect their lives by laying down your own. As for her older sister and brother, she played with them when they let her. Though she spent more time with Ameria than Nasir.

Now Haera is a huntress and will take on small jobs, like battling a person that is becoming a problem, or a bounty hunter. A lot of the time she is away on the mainland in order to catch her bounties.

So begins...

Barynn walked out with Penelo, and she also smiled over at her brother. Istrain could see where she'd been crying from the streaks on her cheeks, but he decided not to say anything just yet. He turned his attention towards Penelo now, smiling. "So what you're saying is that she just doesn't like male dwarves. Got it," he said, glad that they'd cleared that up before he took things too far and tried to get in Haera's pants. She'd never fall for his charms, of course, but he'd been looking forward to putting his charisma to the test and seeing just how close he could get. If she was likely to be more interested in his sister than in him, though, he decided he'd leave the matter alone. "It was lovely to meet you, Penelo," he said, wrapping an arm around his sister's shoulders as Penelo shooed them from the house.

Once outside, Istrain turned towards his sister as they walked. "So, what was that all about?" he asked her. She raised an eyebrow at his unexpected question.

"What do you mean?" she asked softly.

"You were in there for a long time," he replied. "Left me alone with that infernal Haera for longer than I'd have liked."

"Oh. Sorry," Barynn said with a smile. "I figured you could handle her. Penelo was just asking me about last night...about how things went with Luther," she continued softly, hanging her head.

"And what did you tell her?" Istrain asked, prompting his sister to quirk an eyebrow.

"Exactly what I told you. It didn't go well. He wanted me to leave and things are over," she lied, and Istrain's lips twisted downwards into a frown. He stopped walking, catching her arm and pulling her to face him.

"Barynn, Haera was listening at the door and she heard you say something that you're leaving out. I'm your brother. I care about you. If something happened, I want you to tell me," he said, and Barynn frowned as well.

"Oh," she said softly. She sighed, shaking her head. "I don't know what Haera heard, because that was...in different parts...but everything's okay. There's nothing for you to worry about. Luther and I...we slept together," she said softly, glancing away. She knew he didn't want to hear this, but he was the one who kept asking. "We slept together and then he still wanted me gone. It was nothing more than that, so if Haera thought she overheard something more, she's wrong."

Istrain eyed her closely. He'd always known when she was lying - and always been able to lie to her with no problem. Satisfied, he nodded. "Okay," he replied. "I believe you."

"You do?" she asked, and he nodded again.

"Yes," he said. "Now, let's get you back to your shop. Longrus is probably eagerly awaiting your return, and you've got some jewelry to make. I can take him out for a walk when we get back if you'd like. I'd love to see more of the island."

Barynn smiled, relieved that her brother believed her about what had happened and overjoyed that he was offering to help out with Longrus. "Yes, please," she said softly as they headed back to the city. "He's going to love you."

Haera had went visit her sister, Roshia, and her husband for a bit, but was a bit sad that she couldn't see the babies just yet and went to see Elwin and his new little one before going back towards the lake. It was her favorite part of the islands and she used to come when she needed a breather and to get away from everyone. She climbed the rocks and laid on them, closing her eyes and letting the cold air run over her.

After dropping Barynn off at the shop and making sure that she felt okay about getting back to her work, Istrain had taken Longrus out for a walk. It wasn't going to be a long walk since he wanted to spend some more time with his sister - time that wasn't tainted by the looming presence of her now-ex - and that involved getting back to the shop. He decided to walk around by the lake, having noticed it on their way to Penelo's house and having thought that it would be a nice place to walk. Sure enough, it was a beautiful area. He was reminded of how excited Barynn had been about coming to the surface, and he knew that it was sights like these that would make it all worthwhile. After a few minutes of walking by the lake, he noticed somebody laid out on the rocks. A closer inspection told him that it was probably Haera, judging by the blonde hair and the shape of her body, and for a moment, he debated whether or not to approach her. Deciding it was best that he leave her alone, he continued to walk along with Longrus, now headed away from her with his back turned.

Haera heard movement come closer, she wasn't trained like a pro for nothing and took a sniff of the air before smirking. When the sound started to walk past her she called out, "I know that stink anywhere now... you following me, kid?" She asked, never opening her eyes or sitting up. She didn't dislike him so much as she did the first day they met, but he was still an asshole dwarf. Haera wondered about his sister, but she decided it was none of her business and didn't care that much to ask. "I can hear you are walking some kind of animal, shouldn't it be the other way around? You look like someone's bitch more than anything." She smirked.

Istrain slowed to a stop when he heard Haera calling to him. He slowly turned around, seeing that she hadn't moved from where she was on the rocks. He folded his arms over his chest. "Why follow you when I could just slam my head in a door over and over again for the same amount of enjoyment?" he asked, glancing down at Longrus. "I'm walking a dragon, by the way, so I'd watch what you say or I'll sic him on you. Right, buddy? You can take her. Not that it's hard, of course, but you're small." Longrus, however, simply stared up at him disinterestedly.

Haera shook her head, "And yet you chose to follow me." She sighed and pulled out the pendant. "This shit really is curse." She said and sat up before looking over at the dragon and smiling. "I had one, but gave it away since I had to go to war... and I had no idea I was going to come back." She said and hopped off the rock and stooped next to the dragon before reaching her hand out and letting it get used to her before it booped her hand and she petted it. "It would have sensed if I was going to beat your ass... or it didn't care." She smirked and stood. "Don't go past that point where the smooth stones make a small like fence. That is my brother and his wife's territory where the dragons are. If the spot you on their land they may attack." She said. Why she warned him made her question herself. "Is Barynn okay?" She asked.

Istrain chuckled at her comment about the pendant, and he watched her interaction with Longrus curiously. The dragon seemed perfectly content with her, which came as a relief. He nodded when she warned him about the dragons. "Good to know," he replied, lifting a hand to brush some hair from his face. His smile faded slightly when she asked about Barynn. "Yeah, she's okay, I suppose... I almost got the whole story from her. It sounds complicated. The impression I got was that she didn't exactly ask for it, but also didn't exactly stop him. Doesn't make me want to kick his ass any less, though," he said, shaking his head. Of his four sisters, Barynn was always the one he'd been the most protective of. He wasn't sure why, but they'd always been the closest of the siblings - aside from the twins, of course - and even after spending months apart, that hadn't changed.

Haera listened as she played with the dragon using her foot. It tried to catch it and she smirked. She looked back up at him and saw his face and her twisted into a sort of disgust and confused look. "Are... are you in love with your sister?" She asked. It was a honest question and she had seen her older sister look at Nasir like that a lot of the time. It was disgusting and she couldn't fault Nasir for it since he was being used and blacked mailed him with it.

Istrain's hazel eyes widened as he heard her question and his expression quickly mirrored the disgusted and confused look on hers. "What? No!" he said quickly. "She's my little sister. That's all. I don't know why you'd even ask that," he said, shaking his head and shuddering at the thought. "Besides, even if she wasn't my sister, love is weakness. It doesn't work." As if he'd needed any more convincing of that, Barynn's break-up had told him more than enough.

Haera shrugged and shook her head, "The look on your face made me think otherwise. I would say sorry, but you can change your face." She said before nodding at how he said love was weakness. "I agree on that shit so hard." She said. "Waste of fucking time. Family? Yeah that is a given. Love my family to death, but like... that relationship shit." She laughed. "Can kiss my fucking ass. I rather be in wars... beating the shit out of people is really soothing." She winked. "Plus the men in their warriors outfit is hot. One time and I am gone... that's how I like it." She said.

Istrain couldn't help smiling as he listened to the woman talk. Everything she said, he agreed with, and he was thoroughly impressed. "I'm with you every step of the way there," he said with a slight shake of his head. "Loving your family's important - like how I love my sister - but anything else is just unnecessary. Hook-ups are really all you need..." His voice trailed off and he listened curiously to her remark about the men in the warrior uniforms. "Funny, your mother's comments seemed to indicate that you were a bit more partial to women," he said, suddenly curious. Did she swing both ways?

Haera listened and nodded. He was more like her than she cared to admit. Was he someone she would fuck? Maybe if she was wasted enough. A friend? Sure, why not. Plus he was too short for her taste, but she liked his thought process and wondered if he had done any tall women and laughed at the image. Poor guy. No... poor girl. Well.. unless he was that height where he really didn't have to get on his knees. She couldn't stop laughing now and then he said something about her sexuality. "Well yeah, women can't accidentally knock my ass up, but the D is nice too." She smirked before laughing at her thought again.

It was so strange that, after how rough their initial meeting had gone, they were standing here and talking with so much in common. Istrain chuckled a bit as he heard her words. "And meanwhile, my thought process is basically the opposite," he said with a grin. "Getting knocked up isn't my concern, but someone else...now, that would definitely be a problem." Over the years, Istrain had put a great deal of thought into the question of whether he wanted children. He knew that Barynn didn't, which made sense since she'd be an absolutely terrible mother, but he wasn't so sure he felt the same way. Any woman who was to be the mother to his children, though, would definitely have to be someone special. While his preference for sexual partners was the meek and demure women, he wouldn't want such a woman to raise his children - he'd want someone tough, someone who could protect them while he was on the road.

Haera didn't want kids, she didn't hate them or anything, but she didn't have the time for one. She was always on the go. Hell she had been gone for a bit of a year. She hated that she missed a lot and was going to make sure she stayed a while before leaving again. She wanted the new babies in the family to know of her. Haera wasn't irrisponsible. If she ever did happen to get knocked up it isn't like she wasn't qualified to take care of it. She could do so with ease, hell she did it with her younger siblings. When Lorelei was a baby she had her on her hips while training with her father and Roshia. Her motto was if you can't protect the thing on your hip you can't protect shit. Haera looked down at Istrain and blinked, "You mean to tell me you had that pendant all along while you were fucking women? And you said it was curse...maybe the curse felt like it couldn't do such a harsh thing and let you knock up some poor woman." She said and stooped back down again to play with the dragon who now laid on its back begging for belly rubs and Haera wasn't the type of woman to not give a dragon a belly rub.

Istrain chuckled at hearing her words, shaking his head slightly. He had to admit, it was cute watching her play with Longrus. He seemed to be a very relaxed little dragon, and Istrain was glad that Barynn had at least adopted an animal that wasn't too dependent on her for anything beyond food and walks. "I haven't had it very long, just picked it up a few towns back on my way here," he replied with a shake of his head. He'd only hooked up with one woman since picking up the pendant since he'd been so focused on traveling to Veritas Isle that he hadn't had much time to focus on finding partners. "Hasn't seemed cursed to me, unless it was somehow responsible for my little sister getting dumped the very night I happened to show up."

Haera shook her head, "That pretty fucked up. Usually you try not to get them broken up unless he is complete shit. Don't know how you dwarfs do it down there, but we like to see our siblings happy." She said and stood up once she was done, now almost towering over him. She seemed to be almost a foot taller than him.

Istrain sighed, shaking his head. He hadn't even known that Barynn had a boyfriend, let alone that he'd be intruding on...something. Had they been fighting before he'd arrived? Perhaps that was why Luther had refused to let him in initially - perhaps he simply hadn't wanted anyone to talk to Barynn at that moment because they were in the middle of resolving a fight. "You say that like I intended to break them up," he said in a low voice. "I'd never want anything for her but all the happiness in the world, and if she was happy with this guy, I'd have stayed out of it, even if I thought he was complete shit."

Haera rolled her eyes, "I have no idea what you would ever do when it comes to your sister. Maybe you would or maybe you wouldn't. Anyway, I have no idea who this guy is or really your sister, but if my momma does and I trust her advice over anyone's. So... whatever she gave to Barynn will surely work." She said then glared past him. "Well some... the whole me settling down is a big nope. What mom doesn't have flaws?" She asked before looking back at him. "If your sister focus on her work she should be golden. Men are complicated fuckers... no offense." She said.

Istrain laughed, shaking his head a bit and then nodding. "I can agree with that, though women are no less complicated," he replied. "Barynn normally does focus on her work. She's never been involved romantically with anyone before, which is why this is so strange. Back home everyone always used to joke that she was married to her work." He smiled a bit, thinking momentarily of his family.

Haera raised an eyebrow and nodded, "I can't argue with that either." She sighed. It was true, she knew her fair share of difficult women, and maybe she was a bit difficult herself. Haera listened to him talking about his sister and shook her head. "Maybe she got wrapped up too much into the surface world? Or maybe this guy had a way with words. I mean she was stuck around the same ole same ole all of her life so when something new came around maybe she hopped on, not meaning to sound rude about it but it is logical." She said.
