Loris Birgison's Story

Lorelei smiled, "Sometimes I can see people. I am waiting one day for someone to look up and see me looking down at them." She said softly before hoping back and taking Adrian's hand and walking back to the village. She didn't take him home, but to the playground. "Sit." She commanded and pointed to the swing next to her.


Loris loomed over at Blair and sighed. "I don't want your woman, Blair. I like this one girl, but it wouldn't work out." He smiled before looking over at Elise. "You haven't slept with us because we refuse your survive, El." He sighed.

Adrian followed along with Lorelei and then stared at the swing for a second before following her command and sitting down on it, though he was mch too tall to actually be able to swing on such a short swing. "So demanding." He teased as he held onto the chains of the swing and leaned back, looking up at the sky.

Elise puffed her cheeks out. "Ugh why not though. I hear I'm pretty good at it. " She sighed. Blair just shook his head at her. "You need to settle the hell down missy." He said patting her head. Blair leaned back a little and smirked at Loris. "Oh you like a girl do you? Oh do tell, spill it Loris. Whats she like? Tell us all about her." He said before taking a sip of his drink. Elise nodded in agreement and stared at Loris intently, waiting for him to answer.

Lorelei smiled at him whole he watched the sky. It had gotten dark and the stars were out. She didn't need to look at the stars when her universe was right beside her. She swayed an bit and looked down at her hands. She had to ask him. It was now or never. "W-would you be my... first?" She whispered, her whole body felt like it blushed.


Loris looked down at his almost empty drink and smiled, "She's funny. Good hearted. Has the cutest laugh I ever fucking heard. She doesn't care that I burn bodies for a living. Oh and she is pretty smart. When she laughs her nose wrinkles." He said softly, clenching his cup when he realized he actually had feelings for her.

Adrian was just staring up at the sky when she asked him that question. He didnt get what she meant and first and his brow furrowed until he came to the sudden realization of what she was actually asking him. Adrian sat back up on the swing and stared at his feet for a minute. "If...Thats what you really want...Then I can. But only because its you." Adrian said quietly, not being able to look back over at Lorelei.

Elise smiled when Loris talked about the woman he liked. "Aww its so cute to see you like this Loris. Who is she? Maybe I can set up a date for you. I have lots and lots of girl friends maybe i know her." She said in a cheerful tone. Blaid just nodded along and stared at his drink. "Well she sounds lovely, whoever she is." He said softly.

Lorelei blushed and smiled at him. "Good, but we can do it whenever your good and ready. No rush. It can be a hundred years from now. I would still wait." She said softly and began to hum before getting up and dragging him to his feet so they could dance.


Loris shook his head. "Its no use." He smiled softly. "She is happy where we are at and I wouldn't want to lose her. Friend is better than nothing." He said be for finishing his drink and paying his tab. "Ahh that's enough of that. Imma head home." He said.

Adrian blushed. "A hundred years huh? I'm not even gonna live that long you know, thats extra absurd." He said as he danced with her. He wasnt sure why they were dancing in a part, at night. But he didnt mind it, especially since she started humming and her voice was so pretty that everything else faded away for a little bit.

"Awwww....You're friends huh...who the hell are you friends with...Theres me..and Blair, and Misha, and Lorelei...She doesnt mind what you do in the crematory....Ohh my lord I swear to god if its Lorelei you weird monkey. " Elise was just joking but Blair had realized it probably really was Lorelei judging by the description. "She's sixteen and Adrians girlfriend. But also sixteen, dont make me arrest you Loris, I like getting drinks with you. Gives Elise someone else to pine after. " He said with a wink before paying for his drinks and then Elise paid for hers. "Alright drunky, lets get you home." He said to the giggly Elise. "Are you gonna tuck me in and leave again?" She asked, a big smile on her face. "Yes. I'm tucking you in and going home. No shenanigans." He said sternly. Elise sighed and said "Fiiiiiine...See you at work Loris!" She said as she disappeared out the door. "See ya Loris" Blair said as he walked out too.

They danced while she hummed for a while before stopping and looking up at him. "Well maybe not a hundred... more like eighty." She smiled and poked his belly. "Misha said he would work on getting my pass tomorrow." Her eyes lit up. "So I may pay you a visit... or maybe the ocean. Probably just the ocean and the lab over there." She smirked, teasing him. Lorelei would of course see Adrian first, she hoped she could see him while he taught. She always had to teach him... it would be nice to learn from him for once.


Loris didn't look at them, "I said we were just friends and I know she is sixteen..." He sighed and walked out with them. "You two better make babies if you aren't going to with that Ivie girl." He called out to them and walked down the opposite street. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. Loris knew he had to get himself set straight again. Adrian was scary as all hell and he didn't want to bring tension and drama to Lorelei. She didn't deserve that.

"Oh eighty years then. I'm not so sure its gonna take that long. Maybe like...fifty or so." He joked, well mostly anyways. "Oh so you're gonna come visit the Ocean huh? Well that sounds fun. You can go see the palm trees and the pure white sand. Its pretty cool but I'd be pretty mad if you went without me, so you better invite me along." He said with a chuckle.

Blair shook his head and looked down at Elise who was clinging to his arm. "I said no babies." He said and she just smiled up at him. "Oi I said no." He said again. Elise giggled. "Alright, alright, I know, no babies. You're just making sure I get home safe like a good boy." She said as he walked her back to her apartment before saying goodbye and going home himself and looking over case files before passing out.

She swayed away from him and swirled around the pole holding the swings. "Ehh... I will think about it." She smirked, joking of course. "I need to get one of those floatie things so I can drift in the water and make Misha cry his magical tears." Lorelei laughed softly. She stopped twirling and stretched before bending down and poking an insect. "I feel like I am this insect and you are that tree." She said softly pointing at the tree. "You are so tall..."

Lorelei giggled before being dipped and kissed. She blushed when he set her up right. "Y-yeah." She said softly before running off after him. "Hopefully there is a man and woman down in the crematory so I can use them as examples of how he has a choice of ending up dead and alone or with the woman he loves." She laughed evilly. They had gotten to the lap and she waved at Elise and Blair before running off to the crematory. Just like she thought he was in there reading a newspaper. When he looked up and saw her he smiled.

"Morning, baby girl." He said and put the paper down.

"Morning, Loris. Soooo I got some news for you, but first got to send these bodies off with a letter." She said and ran off to her little office spot to start writing. He chuckled and watched her. He couldn't help but take her in. She looked so sweet and he loved that she would write them a note before he burned them. She was a sweet heart and stealing his heart away. Loris cleared his throat and turned around. She is sixteen, Loris. She is in love with Adrian too. You have to stop this. This isn't right, but I can't. He thought to himself as he let his head hang.

Lorelei folded each paper and placed it in the man and woman's hand before looking up at him and smiling. He melted. "So... what is the news?" He asked, trying to calm himself down.

"Well... Adrian agreed to be my first." She said with a big smile.

Loris heart sunk. He knew it would be a possibility, but he did't think Adrian would be into something like that. "Well hopefully you two wait till it is the right time... like after marrying him." He said with a smile.

Lorelei glared at him playfully, "Second thing is, Adrian is staying at my house for the remainder of his stay!" She said happily. She looked so excited. He noted the way her eyes shinned.

"Well... that is set up for something risky to happen. Shocked Misha is so calm about it." He chuckled. "Just make sure that is what you want, because once it is done you can't get it back." He said before going to the oven and getting them ready for the bodies.

"Yeah yeah, I know. Also talking about relationships, when are you going to date, Elise?" She asked.

Loris about died laughing, "Never. I would rather die alone. Don't get me wrong I love her as a friend, but any more is a no go. You see..." He sighed, "When I was around Adrian's age I found this girl who reminds me a lot of Elise. Same attitude and personality. I was in love with her, baby girl." He smiled softly. "We dated for a long time, three years to be exact. I was going to ask her to marry me the night she left me for another man. I was heart broken and crushed. So I swore off women like her. I don't mind being friends with Elise, but there could never be anything more than friends, I'm sorry." He ruffled her hair and went to start on the bodies.

Lorelei frowned, she didn't know this about Loris. In the two months they talked he never brought up his ex girlfriend. "So do you like anyone?" She asked.

He looked back at her and smiled, "Yeah, could be falling for her too, but there are some complications." He said, chuckling and praying she was dense as Adrian.

"Well uncomplicated things and get with her. I can't have you being alone forever." She said and covered her heart, "My poor heart can't take it." She said. He laughed and tried not to follow her hand with his eyes.

Adrian walked into the lab and joined Blair and Elise at the front desk while watching Lorelei run off to the crematory. Elise smiled up at him with a devious grin. "Morning Adrian~ Misha came by earlier looking for you. Said you never went back to the house." She said. "No, I spent the night at Lorelei's" Adrian stated plainly. Elise looked mildly surprised. "Oh you did, did you? Anything fun happen?" She asked leaning on the desk. Blair raised an eyebrow at Adrian. "Not particularly. We got caught in the storm and Lorelei tried to attack my belly button." Adrian said as he rummaged through Blair's candy bucket.

"She tried to attack your belly button...?" Blair said with a confused look on his face. Adrian nodded before popping a caramel in his mouth. Elise shook her head. "Aww only innocent fun then, how boring. I was hoping for some juicy details about your first night together." She sighed. Adrian blinked. "It wasnt the first time ive spent the night there. I'm staying over there for the rest of my visit too, Lorelei asked me to." He said, continuing to rummage through the candy. Elise and Blair both looked a little shocked and confused. "And Misha...Is cool with that?" Blair asked. "He didnt say much about it." Adrian said softly. Blair and Misha exchanged looks and both made a "huh..." noise.

"If it was that simple I would be with her right now." He said. Lorelei watched the bodies go into the fire and frowned a bit. She wanted to give this speech about life and death. About he doesn't have time to diddle daddle on with life with him being so old. Lorelei looked up at him, he had been staring at her. She blushed. "Look, Loris. You are pretty old." He gasped and covered his heart dramatically.

"You... you think I am old?" He said trying to sound offended.

She laughed, "A bit... I mean you are almost thirty. You have no wife. No kids. You work burning dead people to ash. I mean... oh and you go drinking with Blair and Elise. Is that all you want from life. I mean... I can talk because I am only sixteen. I have my whole life a head of me." She smiled up at him.

He growled playful and flicked her nose softly. She laughed and scooted back from him. "Maybe I am happy where I am. Maybe I like going home to an empty house. Relationships are a lot of work you know?" He said rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yeah... I know, but I am just making sure you don't regret anything." She said softly.

He frowned a bit, "Baby girl, no need to worry about little old me. I have come to terms with the cards I have been dealt." He smiled up at her. "Now shouldn't you go up and meet Adrian?" He asked.

She shook her head, "No... I don't want to hog him. He only has a week. He needs to spend time with everyone." She said simply.

"So can you tell me about this girl you are falling in love with?" She asked.

He about dropped his stuff. Lorelei tilted her head, "Well... she is nice and a sweetheart. She is a good listener and loves a good joke. Her laugh is the cutest and she is pretty smart. I love her company more than anything. I love the way she is just so full of life." Loris was getting caught up in it and had to stop himself.

"She sounds lovely! Aw, Loris... come on. Try with her. Make a move! I know when right before Adrian kissed me for the first time I felt like I really wanted him too... maybe she wants you to kiss her. Maybe she is waiting for you to make the first move, you butt." She said trying to kick at him, but her legs were too short.

He laughed and patted her foot. "No can do, kiddo. She doesn't even like me like that and she is seeing someone. So I can't just up and kiss her."

Lorelei's heart dropped, "That bitch, can't she see how much you love her?" She asked.

Loris smile softened, "Apparently not."

Adrian sat in Elise's spinny chair and rolled around the front entrance of the building for a good little bit before he kicked off too hard and sent himself flying into the wall. Elise and Blair burst out laughing at him as he got up from the floor and put her chair back up right. Elise giggled and looked him over"You didnt hurt yourself did you? We can always get Lorelei to doctor you if you did. " She said with a wink. Adrian just blinked at her. "Whats wink worthy abouta doctor being a doctor...?" He asked. Blair groaned. "Dear lord youre clueless Adrian..." He said shaking his head. "What are you talking about..." Adrian mumbled. "I wonder how Lor is doing with getting Elise a date with Loris..." He thought out loud. Blair started laughing. "You know its bad when those two are trying to set you up Elise!" He said trying not to laugh too much. Elise just pouted about it. "Jeez guys..." She sighed.

Lorelei sighed, "Where does she work? Maybe I can stalk her for a bit. Maybe slip something in her man's drink. Anything for you, Loris." She joked.

Loris laughed, "Oh... that... that actually breaks my heart even more. Please don't." He chuckled and shook his head. Once the bodies were done he scooped the ashes into an urn and placed it aside.

"Can I at least go look at her?" She asked.

He shook his head no, "Best leave it alone, please." He said softly. She frowned but nodded.

Lorelei got up and hugged him. "Just know that I am here if you ever need to kill someone. I know a good cliff we can throw the body off of." She giggled evilly.

Loris froze for a moment before hugging her back. She was so tiny compared to him, but he liked it more than he should of. "Sometimes I wonder who is scarier. You or Adrian."

"Me, obviously." She pouted looking up at him.

Without thinking he reach up and cupped her cheek gently. She blushed, "I am sorry... you are indeed the scariest one out of the two, but don't tell Adrian I told you. He would kill me." He chuckled and moved away. His heart was pounding. "Now go hand with Adrian and those two bimbos upstairs. I fear for Adrian's mental state."

She nodded, "Elise is probably making a move on my man." She pretended to be angry and ran up the stairs and out of the crematory. Loris sighed heavily.

"Dear god..." He panicked a bit. He would have kissed her if he hadn't have stopped himself. He shook his head, disgusted at himself for being this way. "If she hugs you again, you don't fucking look down, Loris." He said to himself.

Lorelei stumbled into the room they all were in. "I heard someone needed saving. A tall male with blond hair, gorgeous golden eyes, and lanky limbs." She smiled.

Elise about squealed when Lorelei came in describing Adrian. Adrian made a pouty face. "I'm not that lanky....And I dont need saving, i just kind of..ran into the wall....a little.." He said crossing his arms. "Ha! A little? DO you have a concussion? You smacked that wall pretty hard Adrian." Blair said with a chuckle. "Well it was lookin at me funny, i had to." Adrian joked. Elise giggled and hung around on Lorelei for a second. "I heard Adrian spent the night. Anything fun happen?" She whispered while the boys were distracted.

Lorelei laughed and patted Elise's head. "Well yeah... Loris said I was the scariest of the me and him... well actually he said it was Adrian, but I had to threaten him a little. Then he changed his mind." She smiled. Loris came in the room, "I told you not to tell anyone, baby girl." He pretended to be hurt.

Lorelei blushed and pushed under the desk enough so she couldn't be seen. He stared at her for a bit before looking at Elise like she had done something wrong. "Well I am going out for lunch." He began walking out the door before he turned, "Adrian, I thought you should know Blair was staring at Lorelei the other day like she was a donut. I had to drag Lorelei to safety."

Lorelei could be heard laughing under the desk, "That actually happened and I was confused. Then he told me and I was like do I look that much like Ivie?" She peeked up from under the desk.

Adrian blinked a few times and then looked like he had forgotten something and walked out the room humming a seemingly joyful tune. Blair froze. "Man now he's going to kill me. I was thinking about donuts and Lorelei just happened to be right where I was looking when i snapped out of it...I'm going to die a horrible death..Adrians much to happy about it...Elise save me..." He said slouching into the rolly chair, accepting the impending doom. Elise giggled. "I cant help you, If I do he'll come for me next!" She said holding on to Lorelei. Adrian wandered back into the room with his scalpel and crouched in front Blair, twirling the scalpel in his hand while he continued humming. Misha walked into the room and saw what was going on. He cleared his throat and shook his head at Adrian. Adrian stood up and sighed as he walked back out of the room and down the hall. Blair breathed a sigh of relief. "Remind me not to even look in Lorelei's general direction ever again...."

Lorelei pouted, "That hurt's. I am not even worth looking at, Elise." She smiled and got up. She glanced in Loris' direction and was going to run in Adrian's direction when she found herself pulling Loris outside. "We need to talk, Loris." She said softly.

"Ahh... Elise opened her big mouth. Means she is ready to have something shoved right in." He said a bit angrily. "Look, kid." She frowned a bit. He never called her kid. It was always her name or baby girl. She didn't like it this new word. It made her feel lesser than him and like she was some child. "Maybe you should stay away for a while... or come in when I am not around... for a-" She was tearing up.

He peeked back to see if Adrian had come back out, Loris didn't want to see her crying. "Please don't cry...Lorelei. It is just for the best right now. I need to get my head cleared out... okay?"

"I'm just some kid... now..." She whispered.

He didn't understand at first, "I'm sorry Elise couldn't shut her damn mouth. Wait right here." He went in and dragged Elise out. "You owe her an apology. And you wondered why you can't get a fucking man, Elise. You never know when to shut your damn mouth." He was pissed. It was clear. Loris never got pissed. "She didn't need to know..." He shook his head and walked away. Lorelei didn't even look up at Elise. She was too busy watching Loris walk away.

"I d-didn't need to know, Elise." She whispered. "You could have lied... you can tell Adrian I went home. I'm not feeling well." She said and walked home.

Elise didnt get a chance to say anything, not that she had to. She only told her because she didnt want Lorelei hanging around Loris, knowing how he felt. Loris looked at Lorelei differently than Adrian did and she didnt like it one bit. They needed to be distanced. Elise wasnt going to have it if Loris got jealous and tried to push Lorelei and Adrian apart. Not when Adrian finally seemed happy.

Adrian walked back out and looked around for Lorelei before turning to Elise. "She went home, said she wasnt feeling well." She said and patted his shoulder before going back to work. Adrian was a little worried about Lorelei so he stopped and got her some tea on the walk back to Lorelei's lab. He walked in and set the tea on the table. "Elise said you werent feeling alright..You okay?" He asked softly.

Lorelei watched from the window and hurried in and down to the crematory where she saw Loris laying on one of the tables. She stayed on the steps for a moment before walking down and placing the cake next to him. He sat up and open the box. The cake read, "Please still be my best friend" on it and he smiled. "I will always be your friend, Kid, b-"

"I am not a damn kid...well... maybe to you and all the stupid older people, except Misha he wise not stupid. Don't call me that." She looked down at her hands. "I am sorry I could never return your feelings... and I am sorry about everything... but what am I suppose to do when Adrian leaves again?" She as crying again. "I don't even want to look at Elise... Blair is... well Blair and Misha is okay but he cries all the time." She said softly. Loris stared at the ground he didn't know what he could tell her. "You are my best friend, besides Adrian of course, and who is going to joke with me about stupid stuff? Or when I just need to talk?"

Loris looked up at her and smiled, "Me... all of this is my fault, Lorelei. You shouldn't have to be punish for that. Come here anytime... if I can get over someone leaving me then I can do this." He laughed before looking down at the cake. "How did you know chocolate was my favorite cake, Lorelei?" He asked.

She was going up the stairs when she looked back, "Because I am your baby girl... and you never shut up about craving chocolate pie. Sometimes I wonder if you are really pregnant and then I just get this weird urge to make you my lab rat so that you can be the first male ever pregnant." She smiled.

Loris face went white, "I hope you never indulge on that urge, baby girl." He smiled. "Now shoo so I can big out on this cake without having someone judge me." He said.

She smiled, "Enjoy." She said softly before walking to the break room and dragging Adrian out. He looked pale like Loris. "You okay?" She asked when they were by the entrance door.
