Standing at six feet and eight inches in height, Rhyanid weighs about 220 lbs and has dark brown skin. His build is slightly muscular. As an elf, he has long, pointed ears. He has slightly narrow eyes that are a dark magenta colour and low, thin eyebrows. He has a narrow nose that is turned slightly downwards. He has wide, slightly thin lips that curl upwards a bit at the edges. His hair is a dark brown colour and he keeps it in long braids that come down just past his shoulders. He has a scar near his throat and another on his chin, as well as a large one on his left forearm. Rhyanid generally wears comfortable jeans or sweatpants and plain t-shirts.
Personality:
Rhyanid is a laidback, easygoing guy who's generally relaxed and in a good mood. He's friendly, outgoing, and cheerful. Rhyanid doesn't tend to let things bother him and likes to let things go. He has a stern side since he trains animals, and he's a fan of instruction, discipline, and routine. He's a bit of a sucker for romance, and when he dates, he's as cheesy as they come. He loves his family fiercely, and though he'd like to be protective of Zelipia, he knows that she can take care of herself and he tries to keep out of her business. He's an animal lover; while he loves all animals, dogs are his favourites, and he has a golden retriever named Sadie.
History/Bio:
Rhyanid was born in a nomadic elven tribe to his mother, Lanissa, and his father, Eriato. He had an older sister named Illyana who was six years older than him when he was born. The first three years of his life were normal for a child of his age. His father was crippled in a hunting accident when Rhyanid was a year old and became an invalid, while his mother was a trader who would take elven goods such as meat, jewelry, fish, and other crafted items into the human settlements to sell and trade them to humans. Rhyanid and Illyana were mostly raised by their uncle, since their mother was usually away and their father was unable to tend to them. When Rhyanid was three, Lanissa fell pregnant. At the beginning of her pregnancy, there was a lot of debate among the tribe about whether or not Eriato could possibly be the father, since people doubted that he was capable of performing due to his disabilities. Eriato and Lanissa both said that they engaged in relations, however, so people accepted that the baby was legitimate - until it was born with human ears.
After Rhyanid and Illyana's baby sister was born, Eriato and Lanissa were forced to tell the tribe the truth - Lanissa had been sleeping with a human in one of the towns she visited frequently, and the baby was actually his. Eriato couldn't actually perform because of his injuries, and he'd lied to protect his wife because he felt guilty that his inability to sleep with her had driven her into the arms of another man. The tribe was furious with Lanissa for lying with a man outside of her marriage, and they banished her from the tribe along with the new baby, whom she had named Zelipia. Eriato was permitted to stay in the tribe because he was a man of some rank, and because he was an invalid and the tribe couldn't send him out into the world in good conscience. Lanissa took Rhyanid with her despite the protests of the rest of the tribe, but Illyana chose to stay in the tribe with her father, uncle, and friends.
Lanissa moved to the floating islands with her two children, heartbroken about losing Illyana and Eriato. She swore off dating, deciding that she was going to focus on raising her two children and providing them with the best life she could. Learning about human life was difficult, but the children figured it out easily and enjoyed themselves growing up on the islands. Lanissa was welcomed into the home of an elderly elven woman who took pity on her for being kicked out of her tribe, having been through something similar when she'd been younger, and the elderly woman watched the children while Lanissa worked two jobs. She worked hard and saved up money until, when Rhyanid and Zelipia were ten and seven years old, she was able to afford to open up a pet shop. The elderly woman passed away two years later, leaving Lanissa the little home they'd shared in her will.
Rhyanid didn't care much for school; he tried, but he never really did well. He just wasn't too concerned with it. He knew he had a good job secured since he intended to work at his mother's pet shop, and he helped out around the shop whenever she would let him. He had a way with the animals that intrigued his mother, so she asked him to help her with training the animals and they discovered that he had a knack for it. When he was sixteen, he started officially working for his mother as an animal trainer, and hasn't looked back.
Rhyanid dated casually all through his teenage years, but it wasn't until he was twenty-one that he started dating a young woman for whom he had real, deep feelings. They dated for a year and a half before he proposed, but the girl panicked and turned him down, saying she wasn't ready for that yet. Rhyanid was heartbroken, but he tried to put it behind him and move on. He focused on the pet shop instead, helping out his aging mother and training the animals, all the while hoping that one day he'd meet a good woman to marry and give him children.
