I can say with certitude that superstitions are more deleterious than black magic.

Name: Sariandi Arakalyn | Age: 18 | Gender: Female | Species: Elf | Sexuality: Gay | Height: 5'8" | Weight: 125lbs
Hair colour: Dark brown | Eye colour: Blue | Skin colour: Fair | Trade/Job: Washerwoman

Appearance:
Sariandi is tall but has a petite, slender build. She is slender despite the fact that her job requires a great deal of lifting and carrying and she has quite fair skin despite the fact that she spends a great deal of time outside. Her features are dainty and delicate, and she has lidded blue eyes with thick lashes. Her hair comes down to her shoulders and is dark brown, almost black in colour, with a slight wave to it. She typically dresses in black, wearing dresses that are comfortable but elegant. She has a circlet that was left to her by her great-grandmother, and she wears it almost constantly, believing it to have arcane abilities that will protect her. She has a back tattoo, a stomach tattoo, a thigh tattoo, and a foot tattoo. She has a few self-inflicted scars on her wrists that she keeps hidden beneath long sleeves or cuff-style bracelets.

Personality:
Sariandi is quite quiet, though she isn't shy and can hold conversation quite well if she wishes. From a young age, Sariandi was fascinated with the occult and the things that lurked in the dark. She has always been somewhat rebellious and would often sneak out at night and look for monsters. She has some sadistic tendencies that she has yet to really explore, and she tends to be quite selfish and spiteful at times. She cares for few people, generally concerning herself only with her immediate family, though she does tend to be quite protective over them. She has no interest in romance or relationships, though she has her suspicions that this is only because the tribe forbids same-sex relations and she finds herself attracted to women.

History/Bio:
Sariandi grew up her entire life in her elven tribe. They weren't a terribly nomadic tribe, settled within one forest and generally staying in that area. She had three siblings - a brother named Rothomir and two sisters named Maeradyth and Tenestrae. As a child, Sariandi was fascinated with the occult. She would sneak out in the night against the wishes of her parents in order to look for monsters. Though her family tried to sway her away from it, her interest in evil and dark forces only grew with age. As she grew older and gained more freedom, Sariandi started to try to perform forbidden magic or dark rituals, though she was rarely successful in doing so. Sariandi has a vast collection of books on dark creatures such as demons, werewolves, vampires, and witches.
Image
Her parents were disturbed by Sariandi's interest in these dark topics, and took her to see the tribe's elders in the hopes that they'd have a solution. The elders declared that keeping Sariandi occupied was the only way to keep her from meddling with forces beyond her control, so they gave her a job as a washerwoman, forcing her to be responsible for the clothes, blankets, and bedding of the entire tribe; her only help was the middle-aged woman already working as a washerwoman, though she was developing arthritis and struggling to keep up with the demands of the tribe. It was a nonstop job and Sariandi hated it, but she found it to be quite mindless and would often let her thoughts wander.

Sariandi was a teenager when her oldest sister, Tenestrae, was killed. She'd been out in the woods with her betrothed when they were attacked by some elves from a rival tribe. Tenestrae was found dead the next day, while her lover was nowhere to be found. A trip to the tribe of their rivals revealed that a scout had seen the whole fight and Tenestrae's man was taken by a human who had come along, interfered in the fight, and killed all the elves including Tenestrae. Sariandi and her family were devastated to lose Tenestrae.

Now that she is eighteen, Sariandi's parents are hoping to marry her off, but her troubled past made it hard to find a suitor for her. There is one man who's rather interested, though he has a reputation in the tribe for being somewhat harsh and her parents are hesitant to make the arrangements for fear that he'll hurt their daughter. In the meantime, Sariandi is being sent on a mission into a human settlement with her cousin, Quilodor, to seek out a man called Yalathanil - a human who used to live among their tribe as one of their own, and Tenestrae's missing betrothed - whom they believe to have been taken by some of the humans.

So begins...

Sariandi smirked a little as she heard Valery's words, shaking her head a bit. "Well, then, go for it. If you can figure out how to take my soul for your own then it's all yours," she said with a playfully dismissive wave of her hand and an amused smirk. "If you're serious then it gives me an excuse to try a summoning spell. Then you can kick his ass. It probably won't work, though. They never do," she said with a shrug. She was a bit surprised that Valery didn't seem concerned about her interest in dark magic. Back home it was a huge issue, but Valery was even going so far as to laugh and joke with her about it. She liked this.

Valery's eyes got wide, "Wait you can't do it just yet. I need to do my research first, woman." She said and smirked before sighing. "You gotta try really hard, Sari... I gotta kick some demon ass. You know how AMAZING that will look for me? So many bad guys would be scared. It will be great." She smirked and walked over to her. "I am just gonna pat your head," Valery said softly and did just that before dropping her hand to her side and sitting. "Mmm we don't have a lot of trees here, Sari... so when he go shopping it is advised you don't get long sleeves... unless you plan on spending all of daylight hours in the house or something." She gently took her hand and pulled up her sleeve to reveal what she had thought she was going to see. She brought it up to her lips and kissed her soft scarred skin gently. "I know a way to cover these up... and I have something to make the scars go away. It will take awhile... like a couple weeks to a month... but it is really good stuff, from the floating islands." She said softly. Valery wouldn't ask why the girl did this, it wasn't the right time.

Sariandi smirked when Valery said she needed to do her research first and she nodded. "Sounds like a deal. I have supplies to gather anyways. You do your research, I'll get my surprise, and once we're both ready I'll summon an evil elven god for you to fight. Hopefully," she said. She frowned when Valery told her that she shouldn't wear long sleeves all the time in town, and she barely had a chance to protest before Valery was pushing her sleeves up to reveal the scars. She frowned a bit when Valery said she knew how to get rid of them. "Maybe, but there's not much point when they'll just be replaced with new ones," she said.

Valery looked up at her and frowned, "Is this for your rituals?" She asked. The blonde had no problem with her dabble in it, but if she was intentionally harming herself for a pointless thing like that. She let go of her arm and waited for an answer

Sariandi nodded when Valery asked if the bloodletting was for her rituals. "Well, yeah. How else do you get the blood of a virgin?" she asked with a giggle, shaking her head. "It's nothing to worry about. I don't do it too deep, just enough to get however much blood I need, and I always tend to the wound immediately after," she added quickly. She didn't want Valery to be concerned about her, not when they were getting on so well and Valery seemed totally chill about the black magic.

Valey blinked, "You think this is funny? One slip and you're are fucking gone, Sariandi. That's a shit ass move. I am not going to tell you to stop, that isn't my place. If you wanna toy with that shit that is all on you. Just know if you fuck up I will never forgive. You can also were short sleeves from now on. No point in hiding something you love so damn much. Now hurry up. I have people to protect." She said and got up.

Sariandi raised an eyebrow at Valery's reaction. That definitely seemed unnecessarily harsh. "Actually, I can wear whatever clothes I want, thanks," she muttered, finishing up her food and standing up. She took her dishes to the sink to clean them, and then glanced back at Valery. "I'll go get dressed...and brush my hair," she said, touching her fluffed-up hair. "I guess I can wear the dress I brought yesterday, at least until I go out and get more...I don't know...more human-like clothes? You people all dress so differently," she said with a shake of her head, beginning to walk off.

Valery blinked, "Who you think is paying for the clothes? Did you bring money with you, Miss Spur of the Moment." She said and got up to get her stuff before waiting outside for her. She sat on her steps and counted the ants that marched by. If she found that damn girl dying on the floor. "Maybe I should bring her back." She whispered to herself.

Sariandi blinked in surprise, but nodded. "Oh. Right. I forgot you humans had that money stuff," she said with a shake of her head. She watched Valery go and then headed upstairs to her room to get changed. She was quick about it, and when she was ready and had brushed her hair and everything she came back downstairs, coming outside and seeing Valery sitting on the steps. "Hey," she said in a cheerful tone.

Valery looked up and said hey back before standing and moving around her so she could lock up. "You haven't seen Iri's house yet, have you? If you think this is big... well... you are in for a surprise." She said and tried not to laugh a bit but she did so anyway. As they walked people stared, which never bothered her. It wasn't like she had anything to hide.

Sariandi waited while Valery locked up, raising an eyebrow slightly when she questioned whether or not she'd seen Iridessa's house. "No, of course not," she said with a shake of her head. "But more people live there, so of course it would have to be bigger, right? I mean, her parents live with her, don't they? And Yalathanil and his sister, and she and Iridessa are both pregnant, so there will be babies soon, and if Iridessa has any siblings I assume they'd also be there..."

Valery looked at her, "Well... Iri has no siblings and they are just staying there long enough to get one of their houses built. So I don't think them and the babies will be staying there. You will see." She said and smiled a bit. They walked for a while longer before happening upon the house. It was grand. It was two stories but large. If you counted the roof section of the house it would have been three. "If I remember correctly there are... six or seven rooms, numerous baths, a large kitchen with a small dining room in the back of it for the help. A regular size dining room for the family. Two offices. A living room... some closets... a sunroom... and so much more." She smiled a bit before walking into the house with her.

"Psh... wasn't gonna give you shit anyway, woman. Gosh damn. I am a good girl. Always have been." She smirked and poked Keona's ass before taking her seat again. "Was gonna make a comment but your brother is right there and I am a GOOD girl." She repeated and winked before watching Valery and Sariandi walk in.

"Oh good everyone is here so I don't have to keep repeating myself. There is a serial killer on the loose. Just figured this last night so I am going to the station and let them know but I wanted to tell you all first. The person doesn't have a preference except that they are all females. I won't go into detail what he does to them but just know it is bad. So Iri goes NO WHERE without you or your sister or a guard. I don't care if she has that singing thing. She can't sing if someone comes from behind her. Actually... the same goes for your sister. As tough as she is this person has taken down elven women taller and stronger than her. In other words, a fighter." She said and looked at Sariandi. "This one is with me." She said. "Now... gotta track down Quinn after all of this and shopping." She sighed.

Quinn huffed, "Not as bad as any other annoying little brother. I love'em but throwing them would be nice." She laughed a bit and smiled proudly when he complimented her bow. "Psh do I know how to use it? Of course not." She said and shook her head. "Not a thing about it. I just carry it so I can look badass." She smirked and patted his shoulder. "If I was in the game of humiliating I would show you, but... I am a nice girl." She said with a big smile. "Now let's go." She said and walked out with him.

Sariandi's eyes widened as Valery told her about all the rooms in Iridessa's house and she shook her head. "Why could one family possibly need so much space?" she asked, a little bewildered. She followed Valery inside and smiled as she saw the others, waving at them. Lenandel waved back. She waited while Valery told them about the serial killer.

Keona rolled her eyes a bit when Iridessa insisted that she was a good girl. She glanced up, raising an eyebrow as Valery started to talk about the serial killer. She huffed a bit when Valery said that this person had taken down women taller and stronger than she. "If they were stronger than me they wouldn't be dead," she said calmly, a hint of irritation in her voice. Lenandel sighed and nodded. "Thanks," he said. "I'll make sure they don't go anywhere alone, don't worry. You just take good care of Sari," he said. Sariandi smiled, and then glanced at Valery. "Are you gonna ask him?" she asked in a soft voice, and Lenandel raised an eyebrow. "Ask me what?" he asked.

Quilodor chuckled when she joked that she didn't know how to use the bow. When she said she wouldn't show him for fear of humiliating him, he raised an eyebrow. "I doubt you could humiliate me. You are still only human, after all. I've no doubt you could impress me, though," he told her. He headed out with her with a nod, smiling a bit. He rather liked this human. She was fun and upbeat - the kind of person he liked - and she had an appreciation for hunting and archery as he did.

Valery looked at her and blinked, thinking of what she meant before snapping her fingers. "I had almost forgotten about that since people wanna be careless and make others worry." She glared at the girl a bit before looking at Lenandel. "Sari here mentioned your little cutting fetish. No you aren't a suspect. The bodies all had carvings on their lower back. Sari also mentioned you might know people in your community that also have a fetish for carving. You can come down to the station tomorrow to see if you recognize the handy work. That can be time shaved off of your community work." She said and looked at Iridessa. "I need to talk to you alone." She said and Iridessa blinked and looked behind her, but no one was there and she sighed before nodding and getting up. She walked with Valery into the office and watched as she closed the door. "Sit." She said and Iridessa nodded. Valery started to inspect Iridessa and when she got to her legs Valery sighed.

"Really? First Sari and now you?" She said.

Iridessa blinked, "Sari... cuts?" She asked softly.

"Yeah for her stupid ass black magic that ISN'T even real. She is going to kill herself doing it and now you are so eager to let Lenandel do what he wants with you. One slip and he can kill you... you know that right?" She said and Iridessa nodded, "I know but he is skilled in this and I trust him not to kill me." She said.

Valery sighed, "Whatever you say, just know if you die you are leaving EVERYONE behind. Now... I need your help with something. You know that girl that died years ago... like... when Ty came around? The one that was found naked under the bridge." She said. Iridessa nodded. "Well the girl had the same carving. I don't know if this has anything tied with Ty... if some asshole person has a vendetta against him or something, but it had stopped once Ty had left." She said. Iridessa looked uncomfortable.

"Shit... I hope this isn't the reason why he wanted to die. He could have just killed this person instead of himself." She said and shook her head. "Get more information and update me." She said softly and Valery nodded before they both walked in. "Valery wants Sari to cute her up like Lenny cuts me." Iridessa said.

Valery's mouth fell open, "Like fuck I do... I rather keep as much blood in my damn body. It does that releasing shit once a month for a few days. Fuck that nonsense. You two have fun with all that... Okay.." She looked at Sari. "We need to get going. You ready?" She asked.

Lenandel blinked in surprise when Valery said that Sariandi had mentioned his cutting fetish and he raised an eyebrow, looking at Sariandi. "Do I even want to ask how you know about this?" he asked, and she raised an eyebrow. "You were engaged to marry my sister. I think the real question is how I wouldn't know about it," she said, and he sighed, shaking his head. "Damn elves," he muttered, and she giggled. Lenandel nodded when Valery told him to come down tomorrow to see if anything about the cuts looked familiar to him. He'd have to spend some time racking his brain to see if he could think of anyone.

Keona came up behind Lenandel as Iridessa left with Valery, sliding her arms around his neck and resting her chin on the top of his head. "That Valery is charming," she said, and he sighed, shaking his head. "No, she's really not. She's a pain in my ass," he muttered, and Sariandi shrugged. "I think she just cares a lot about people," she said, and Lenandel narrowed his eyes at her. "Traitor," he said, and she giggled a bit. "You know you love me," she said, and he nodded. "Of course I do," he replied.

When the two of them came back in and Iridessa said that Valery wanted Sari to cut her up, Sariandi's cheeks went bright red and she looked at Valery. "That's not happening," she said quickly. When Valery asked if she was ready to go, she nodded. "Yes," she said.

Valery pouted, "If summoning a demon fails you gotta sacrifice me, piss someone down there, and then let me get to kicking ass. We gotta have backups, Sari. I can take a sacrifice or three. Psh." She smiled and took the girl's hand. "See you tomorrow, Lenandel." She said and then waved.

Iridessa looked over at Keona, "Ya stuck with me." She smiled smuggly. "You ready to get your house drawn? Or well... the blueprints." She said and smiled. "Lenandel can be a pretty princess and sit in the corner, cuz... ya know... they are meant to be seen not heard." She smirked.

"You elves to have a... spunk to y'all. I have seen some elves hunt, like a couple months before Iri was taken by Yalathanil when we were invited up north to go hunt with my father's friend. The tribe there were... beautiful. The hunters and huntresses seemed so damn elegant. I heard from them there is one huntress on the floating islands that seems godesslike. Not that she is, but her movements and stuff. So I plan on making a trip soon to see her. Maybe you can come with and we can see her together. Oh!" She laughed, "She even has TWINS called Bo and Arrow. So yeah... I can't wait to meet her." She smiled and shook her head, "If I can impress you... well shoot... I think I will be super happy." She said as she listened to the waves crash in the distance.

Sariandi smirked a bit when Valery said that she'd have to sacrifice her if the summoning failed. "I don't know if I could sacrifice you. I'm fond of you. If I find any spells or rituals that call for me to sacrifice one of my favourite things, though, then we'll talk," she said with a giggle, waving at the others as they left.

Lenandel frowned when Valery said she'd see him tomorrow. "Yep. I'm looking forward to it," he replied in a sarcastic tone. Keona smiled when Iridessa said they were going to start drawing the blueprints for her house. "Sounds good to me," she said. "I want it made of wood, and it has to have a front porch, and I want a balcony that's inside the roof." Lenandel sighed when she said the bit about the balcony being inside the roof. "Keona, none of us have any clue what you're talking about," he said. "Iridessa' might have a clue, but I'm not sure yet."

Quilodor smiled when she told him about seeing the elves hunt and he nodded slightly. "I agree. There's something graceful and elegant about hunting," he said to her. "Even I've heard of this huntress. She's half elf, is she not? I'd be interested in coming with you to meet this huntress," he said to her. When she said that she'd be happy if she could impress him, he grinned a bit. "Oh, I'm sure you'll impress. You've an air about you that has me eager to see how you do."

When the two girls walked out Valery looked over at Sariandi. "Just a quick stop at the station and then we can get you your death traps." She said. "Long ass sleeves in the damn summer... make me pass out just by looking at you." She huffed and squeezed her hand a bit protectively. "Just... don't cut yourself too deep. Go across the street and not down." She said softly.

Iridessa threw an apple slice at Lenandel and hit him in the cheek. "Be nice... she was being civil with you." She said and then laughed at Keona. "Hold on... I think I can draw THAT." She said and dragged the two upstairs and made them sit in her bed as she sat at the table. "Okay I can't draw like... AMAZINGLY... but I can do like... the jist of it." She said and drew the roof and inside she drew the balcony that was still under the roof with some railings. Further back she made a wall with a door and then handed it to Keona. "Like this but less shitty?" She asked.

Quinn nodded, "Half, yeah." She said softly and when he said there was an air about her she blushed a bit. "Come on, we gotta get to those witches. I hear they grow powerful when the sun goes down." She smirked and wiggled her eyebrows and wiggled her fingers as if to scare him. This elf was a nice elf and she liked nice people in general. "I won't tell anyone if you cry though... I consider you a friend and I would never do that to a friend." She giggled.

Sariandi raised an eyebrow when Valery made her comment about long sleeves in the summer. "Last I checked, it was newly spring," she said slowly, shaking her head. She didn't mind the hand squeeze. When Valery told her not to cut herself too deep, she shook her head. "No, of course not," she replied. "I'm not stupid."

Keona and Lenandel followed Iridessa upstairs. When she made them sit in her bed, Lenandel wrapped an arm around his sister's shoulders and she snuggled into him slightly, both watching and waiting while Iridessa did her drawing. When she was done and showed it to them, Keona blinked slightly. "I...yeah, actually. Basically like that," she said, and Lenandel chuckled. "You really did have an idea of what she wanted," he said.

Quilodor chuckled a little at Quinn's behaviour, shaking his head. "I'll try not to cry, then. It'll help to know that I've got a tough lady to back me up if anything happens," he said with a smile. He had to admit that he was rather enjoying the time spent with this human. "I just hope Sari isn't with them..."

Valery looked at her one more time before nodding and walked with her to the station. The people looked and eyed her and then Valery. "Make a smart comment... I dare y'all." She said and they shook their heads before she smirked. She let everyone know what was going on and then took Sariandi out and walked with her. "Okay that done... now to find a Hot Topic for you." She sighed and shook her head. "They better have that damn dress I have been looking for. This is the fourth time going there this month." She said and looked at her. "Get you some undies and stuff. Get what will fill like... three or four dresser drawers or like half a closet and one dresser drawer. That way when or if you return home you won't have to lug clothes back to my house if you want to come back." She said.

Iridessa smile happily, "Told ya, Lenny. I have only ever seen one house like this so... that's cool. Now wait till ours is built." She said and tried not to laugh. "Just know that HE made the designs. I just chose the color on the outside and stuff. Oh man.. you gonna love." She giggled. "Now... how many rooms you want?" She asked.

Quinn nodded, "Well of course, though... you are easy to blend in with nature. My bright hair will def give us away." She said and decided to tie her hair back. "Still can see me and my puffy tail in the back." She sighed. "I didn't even think about bringing my cap... oh well... if we have to snatch her that can be your part." She smiled and walked with him to the other side of the city. The sun shifted sides and was now on the other end, slowly creeping to the horizon. Into the woods there were the songs from the birds and insects. She had trained her ears to distinguished what sounds were what. There were halfway towards the witches' house when a small voice came from the side of Quinn. "What brings such curious souls to our parts? Oh... and an elf... well hello." She said and out from behind a tree a woman stepped out. She was shorter than Quinn and looked about late 50's or early 60's.

"We are looking for a girl named Sariandi. She is into... the craft... and Quil here was looking to bring her home. She is a couple inches taller than I. Black hair, blue eyes." She said softly.

The woman shook her head, "No girl by that name or description has been here, dear. I am sorry. Maybe try that new group of youngsters down in the city. They stay in that old church down on Hillbury street. I am sure you know which on I am talking about. Damn youngins don't know the first thing about the craft yet they think they know all." She sighed. She eyed the two and smiled, seeing something about the two. "You kids have fun, may your paths be intwine beautifully and good luck on the girl." She said before disappearing. Quinn watched her leave and blinked before looking up at him, "So... that was a bust. You wanna go to that church?" She asked.
