Amiras's home is on the outskirts of the city away from most of the business of the inner city. Treelines separate her home from her neighbors, giving her home a good bit of privacy. It has two spacious bedrooms and two baths both located on the second floor of the house. Downstairs along with the living room and kitchen there is a study and a door to a porch on the side of the house next to a sun room near the back. It has a decent sized backyard.

Amira nodded. "Well, if you need it, you can probably find it pretty easy. Most of the shopping is done in one place around the center of the city." She said and went about eating. She thought about if she needed to get anything while they were out. She might have benefited from buying some more spring like dresses while they were on early sales for the next season. That depended on if Weston thought he could get back to the house without her though. He had managed to find the house in the first place, so she thought he probably could. It would be a little weird for her to ask him to stay while she tried on dresses, though imagining the look on his face hen he had to stand there and wait like the boyfriends she had seen waiting for their girlfriends or whatever. Their faces were always so priceless. But there was no way she was going to put Weston through that nonsense.

Weston nodded slightly. That sounded easy enough. He'd been to large cities where the shops were all over the place, with different businesses at all different ends of the cities and residential areas scattered throughout. It had been a mess, and he hoped that this city would be better laid-out. He continued to eat mostly in silence, his honey-brown eyes occasionally rising to peek across the table at her. She really was a beautiful woman. Had he met her in any other context, he might have asked her to go out with him some time. That made it unfortunate that she was his roommate, though, as they didn't need any sort of relationship beyond friendship that might complicate their living situation.

Amira ate pretty quietly, Weston didnt seem like much of a talker most of the time so until she knew him better she wasnt going to be real intrusive about getting him to talk either. She caught him peeking at her and blinked before raising an eyebrow. "What? Is there something on my face?" She asked and then blinked. "Is my hair a mess and I dont know about it?" She said then messed with her hair a little bit like she was trying to figure out if something was out of place. Her hair with it being decently curly often did things she would rather it didnt, and would get all kinds of out of place.

Weston felt his cheeks heat up a bit when she caught him peeking at her and he quickly shook his head. "No, no, nothing wrong," he replied quickly, giving her a small smile. "You look great, that's all. Don't mind me, I'm just envious of your good looks," he teased gently, hoping that would be enough to get him off the hook. He turned his attention back to his food, not daring to sneak another peek now.

Amira blinked at his words. "Oh well uhm..Thanks." She said softly and looked back down at her food. She thought she was pretty strange looking, and it didnt help that most people said she looked 'exotic'. Her father was very pale and his hair was a very pale nearly white shade of blonde, and her mother had dark skin like Amira did but her hair was jet black and Amira ended up a weird mix of the two with her fathers blue eyes, her mothers features and skin, and hair lighter than even her fathers. She had only caught Weston peeking because she had been peeking at him and accidentally caught him looking at her too. He was a very handsome man, certainly better looking than most of the men she had gone out with before. But she blocked the thought of that out of her head, they were room mates after all, and it wasnt like she thought either of them were down to mess that up in any way.

Weston could see that Amira was a bit sheepish about accepting the compliment, but he said nothing more and decided not to try to push it. He finished up his meal, sitting back in his chair once he'd finished and downing the last of his drink. "That was a great breakfast," he told her, turning his gaze back towards her with a grin. "You seem to be good at just about everything you do. Running, cooking, making chocolate..." He chuckled a bit.

Amira finished her breakfast quietly too and then shook her head. "There are quite a few things im not good at, naturally. Gotta make up for it with those three things." She said with a little bit of a smirk before taking the plates to the kitchen and setting them in the sink, she'd get to them later but they needed to head out. "You ready to head out to the market?" She asked and walked to the living room closet and grabbed a big bag from it to put groceries in and then handed it to him. "Makes things a lot easier, promise." She said with a smile.

Weston chuckled a bit at her comment about not being good at quite a few things. He could definitely relate. He let her take the plates, though he had no intentions of letting her wash them herself once they got back. While she took them into the kitchen, he grabbed his jacket and pulled it on, smiling as she handed him the large bag. "I'll just bet it does," he said with a laugh. "I'm all ready. Let's get going," he said to her with a grin.

Weston quite enjoyed shopping with Amira. She seemed to know all the best vendors and by the time they headed back home, he had more than enough food to last him a short while. He grinned as she got the door for him. "Thanks," he said, carrying his stuff inside. He headed into the kitchen, setting down his bag on the counter and then setting the safe down on the floor. He figured it would be best to work on the groceries first, so he got to work on putting the groceries away, taking care to put his name on the packaging of anything he could.

Amira put her stuff up and got out of the way of Weston putting his things up too, keeping track of what was his that he couldnt mark just in case. She hung back away from him for a bit, taking a minute to get a drink of water since she was very much into staying as hydrated as possible. She ended up sitting on the kitchen island while she sat there, kind of wondering if Weston could actually cook, and where he learned if he knew how to. She hadnt known many men who could cook more than a few simple dishes.

Weston finished putting away his groceries. He'd already decided what he wanted to cook, having picked up some nice-looking salmon from a fish vendor in town. He'd decided to throw together an asparagus and tomato salad to go with it, knowing that asparagus paired well with salmon, so he gathered together his ingredients and got started, glancing over at Amira as she sat on the kitchen island. He smirked slightly. "You want to watch because you don't think I can do it," he teased in a gentle tone.

Amira blinked and then smirked a little bit. "Maybe. Its not common where I come from for men to cook at all, so its pretty interesting that some men apparently do, considering its considered strictly a womans job where im from." She said and gently kicked her feet while she watched him. "You'll have to excuse my curiosity, im pretty intrigued by your confidence in the kitchen."

Weston raised an eyebrow when he heard her words, a little surprised. "Really?" he asked. "Strictly a woman's job? Pfft. I've been to places where men barely allowed women in the kitchens. They figured the kitchen was a place for fast-paced business and barking orders, and women aren't suited to such an environment. Now, I disagree, of course, but I tend to disagree with a great number of ideologies I come across," he said as he worked on preparing the vegetables for the salad.

Amira nodded. "Mhm. Where I come from women raise kids, and cook meals and we do our husbands biddings. Like some kind of weird version of a maid or a nanny." She said and shrugged. "Thats just the way it is, the men hunt and gather and protect, and the women pop out and take care of the children and the clothes making and cooking. Im not a huge fan of it obviously, I left that behind years ago. My tribe would scoff at the idea of a woman owning a business. Especially a single woman." She sighed.

Weston listened curiously, glancing up the moment he heard her say tribe. "Tribe? You mean like the elven tribes in the woods?" he asked, sounding intrigued. "I've encountered a few of those in my travels. They definitely varied. Some seemed quite friendly and opened, but others were much more reserved and almost on the hostile side," he mused before going to start the salmon cooking in a pan.

Amira nodded. "Mhm. I used to belong to one that traveled along the outskirts of the kingdom, mainly only traveling in the dense woods and stuff. They only went into the city if they absolutely had to, and if you were a woman, you had to be accompanied by your husband." She explained. "But I needed to get out of there, it wasnt the life I wanted and my parents were extremely persistent that I marry a man twice my age when I was like nineteen. He wanted to marry me because I looked different than everyone else. And he was high ranking in my tribe, so my parents thought it was a great thing. I didnt, so I left immediately. And now im here." She said with a shrug.

Weston quietly listened. His heart already ached for her from what she'd said. "A man twice your age?" he asked, the disgust evident in his voice. His back was to her as he was cooking the salmon, but it was pretty obvious by his voice what his face must look like. "That's vile. That'd have me marrying...hmm...a fifteen-year-old girl. I don't think that's even legal," he said, shaking his head. "And at nineteen? He'd be old enough to have been your father. It's probably a good thing you left. Now you're here making chocolate and sitting by the fire with wine and good company and excellent taste in books," he told her with a chuckle.

Amira nodded. "Well, it had been in the works since I was seventeen, but things got serious when I was nineteen so I really did have to leave. And it was common for girls to get married around sixteen in my tribe, so I was late to the game already so they were really pushing things by the time I was nineteen. I had no interest in being some mans pet though. So I pretended to be real picky about boys." She said. "And yes actually, my mother and father had me at eighteen, so he was actually my fathers age. Not that that seemed to bother anybody but me." She sighed and then blinked. "Your book was the first I had read. We werent allowed to read books not written by tribe members. They were afraid we'd get crazy ideas about the world and leave to seek these crazy things out."

Weston listened curiously. It seemed horrific to think of women being forced to marry at such young ages. While the salmon sizzled away, he turned around to face her. "Where I'm from," he said, speaking slowly and choosing his words with care "there's only one thing women can't do. Women can cook and clean, or they can hunt and go to battle, but women are not permitted to rule. Something about the royal spirit being passed from father to son, I always thought it was nonsense," he told her, and then, fearing he'd already said too much, he promptly turned back to his fish. "So, is it true? Did my book give you crazy ideas about the world?" he asked with a light chuckle.

Amira listened while he spoke and nodded. "Certain women were allowed to hold high places in the council, but only if their husbands had died, or were away. And then they were to act based upon their husbands previously laid out views. If she were suspected to make a ruling that was based upon her own wishes, she would be removed from the council." She said and then smirked. "It most certainly did. Mainly about women..That and I really hoped that was a real place in the world because I really wanted to visit." She said with a giggle. "When I left, I was so cut off from the rest of the world that I had no clue that women outside of my tribe lived the way they wanted, they arent required to be married, they can work and hold higher positions in society than men. It was a lot to adjust to at first. BUt now living here, the way I used to live seems like a cruel and barbaric way of living." She sighed.

Weston smiled as he listened to her talk. He couldn't help but to chuckle slightly at her comment about his book. "Damn, do I ever wish it was a real place, too," he agreed with a grin as he took the salmon off the heat and began to plate it. "I'll tell you what, though - if I ever find an underwater civilization with merfolk, you're the first person I'll take there," he joked. "In all seriousness though, I try to portray the women in my books the way I see them - strong, and unique, and capable. I'm glad to know that my book gave you crazy views about how women should be," he laughed.

Amira nodded along and then giggled when he said he'd take her to the underwater civilization of merfolk if he ever found one. "Deal. If I find it first, i'll take you too." She said with a smile and then nodded. "I would certainly hope you'd think we were capable beings. We birth children for gods sake." She said and then cringed a little at the thought. She had attended her cousins birthing of her first child and that was terrifying. But if a woman could do that and get up to take care of an infant damn near instantly, they sure as hell could do a whole lot of things. "It gave me such crazy ideas, made me want to go explore and see new things and places, and learn what the world had to offer. And now im here, with my own chocolate shop in a city that floats in the sky above the ocean. Its not quite as magical as an under water civilization...But its pretty close I think."

Weston plated the salad alongside the salmon while Amira talked. He lifted the two plates and turned towards her with a grin. "Well, hearing how much my book helped you has basically reaffirmed in my mind that all the hassle of publishing it was worth it," he said to her before carrying the plates to the table. "What would you like to drink?" he asked as he headed back to get forks and knives for them.

Amira watched him and then nodded. "It definitely was. Its one book I always recommend to people who are looking for something new to read." She said with a smile and then looked over at him. "I'll just do water please." She said and sat down when he came back and with the silverware and the drinks and when things were ready she took a bite and looked pretty pleasantly surprised. "You certainly can cook. This is great." She said once her bite was done.
