Hazel Clove Estate

Spencer took the plate of cookies with a grin, sitting down at the table and beginning to eat one of them. He listened while she talked about Kyle and Dev accusing her of having a crush on him, at which point in the story he burst out laughing. "You? Have a crush on me? Maybe we need to talk to them about what it means to be super best friends, because they obviously don't get it," he laughed. When she said that Kyle got a bit upset by that, he shrugged. "Yeah, he was kinda upset when he came home. He told me about hanging out with your auntie Dev and I joked that she must be his girlfriend and he thwacked me," he laughed.

Hazel giggled, "I know! Those two need to be each other's besties so that they can understand where we come from." She sighed and when he said that Kyle was upset and she frowned before going over and gently rubbed his head. "There there... eat your cookies and I will get you some milk. All will be well." She giggled, joking of course. She did give him some milk and then went put the dough on the sheet. "Oh! So I got the lead female role in a play!" She giggled. "I get to act with a famous man. It is going to be great." She said softly before fumbling with her spoon and bowl before setting it down and going sit in front of him. "So... uhm... if someone asked you to draw... and paint... or just draw backgrounds would you?" She asked softly.

Spencer laughed when she said that Kyle and her auntie Dev needed to be best friends and he gave a bit of a nod. "I could see it. Kyle spoke highly of her. It sounded like he had fun with her today," he said, blinking when she rubbed his head and said she'd get him some milk. He thanked her when she brought the milk, blinking when she said she was going to be in a play. "Oh! That sounds really cool - uh, congratulations, I think," he said with a laugh. He munched on his cookies as she came and sat in front of him, blinking when she asked if he'd draw backgrounds. "Is this for the play? Because I've worked on backgrounds for school plays before and I can totally do it," he told her.

Hazel wanted her aunt and Kyle to be friends, but she didn't want them becoming more than that. It would suck and she knew she had a crush on him so that would be the worse. Hazel looked back at Spencer and smiled, "Thanks and uhh yeah for the play. I may have mentioned you and you would get paid! So... I uhm... I mean that's pretty cool, yeah? You could but more drawing books or pencils or paint... or... snack foods... honestly you can do whatever because it would be your money." She smiled and say down across from him at nibbled a cookie since the batch in the oven was still baking.

Spencer grinned when she said it would be for the play and that he'd get paid, and he nodded. "That sounds like a lot of fun! I'd have to ask my mom first, but I'm sure she'd be okay with it. She'd probably just be excited that I'm going out and doing stuff with other people," he said with a laugh. "Having money would cool. I'd probably put some of it in the bank. Dad's always talking about how putting money in the bank can make you have even more money. If I did that I'd have lots of money by the time I'm grown enough to actually need it," he laughed.

Hazel nodded and looked at him, "I guess that would be a smart thing to do, huh?" She said softly. "I am being paid for the play, so I mean, I might do what you do then." She said softly and smiled. "That way when we get older we can pay for important things, like college... or... hmm... a house! Or... uhm... well those are the only two important things I can think of right now." She said and looked out the window before looking back at him. "I... I wanna be honest with you because you are a cool guy and I do think of you as my bestie, but Kyle was so darn persistent with Dev about it... so I want to let you know now so you don't end up hating and resenting me because that is the last thing I want. I had gone over to your place with Dev so I could tell you that I... didn't want to be friends with you anymore." She said softly and looked at her hands. "You make me really confused sometimes, and I think this part is why those two thought I had a crush on you, but you say girls our age are icky but say older girls are pretty. And I know you mean well when you call Gammie pretty, but you say it so much that it just... it rubs me the wrong way and it just SEEMS like you have a crush, but you say you don't. I get it if you did it once or something... maybe it was how we were raised or something, I am not sure... but don't think I don't notice when you become uncomfortable because I see it. You suck at hiding it if you are trying. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable with me just being myself so... I thought it was best to just end the friendship, but Kyle and Dev says it is good that I am pushing you out of your comfort zone. I think Kyle and Dev have a thing for pushing people to do what they don't wanna do. I told him that I wasn't the person to force you, but... then Dev blackmailed me so." She said and sighed. "So... yeah... now you can make your own decision on if we stay friends or not and it be a fair friendship. Everything is out on the table." She said softly.

Spencer smiled when she said she might do the same thing he did. "Yeah! Maybe I'll save up enough money to go to art school or something," he said. "Maybe we can buy a house together and be roommates!" he added with a laugh. When she said she wanted to be honest with him he nodded, listening while she talked. He blinked when she started to talk, raising an eyebrow. "It's one thing for you to try to help me climb trees and stuff but talking about going to the forbidden island isn't okay," he said softly. "I like you and we have a lot of fun but it's scary to talk about that. Besides that, though, I still wanna be friends with you," he said.

Hazel blinked and shook her head, "Well I haven't even made you... well... not after that time we talked about it. I know you don't want to go so... I will go by myself one day, but you won't be with me so it's okay." She said and blinked when he said he still wanted to be friends with her. A part of her wondered why he couldn't be friends with anyone else since it seemed he liked normal things. "So... since you still wanna be my friend... would you wanna help me with my lines?" She asked. "I mean... not today... maybe tomorrow? There is a kissing scene but we can totally ignore that it is there." she giggled.

Spencer frowned when she said she would go by herself one day. He wasn't sure why she wanted so badly to go to the forbidden island, but he didn't really think that he could say anything at this point to convince her not to, so instead he would just have to enjoy the time he could spend with her before she went and got herself killed and he was down a friend. He blinked when she said that her play had a kissing scene. "Does that mean you have to kiss someone in the play?" he asked, crinkling up his nose and laughing a bit. "Sure, I can help you with your lines."

Hazel blinked, "Usually when I say I have a kissing scene it means that I have to kiss someone, yes." She said and poked his nose. "Just be lucky I am not making you kiss my icky lips, jerk." She giggled. "But I get to kiss handsome Nathaniel Bael! Ugh McDreamy, but you can't tell ANYONE... like your parents or something about me being in the lead. I don't need them blabbing to my father about it. Dev and Kyle know I will be kissing an older male, but they think I am like sixteen or seventeen so... I plan on my father coming in on the last day of the play so... he won't pull me out." She smiled proudly.

Spencer laughed a little at her words, shaking his head. "Yeah, we're just kids, we don't need to kiss or anything like that," he said. He blinked when she said who she'd be kissing, not terribly familiar with the name, and when she said not to tell anyone he nodded. "Okay. I won't tell. I dunno why you'd get in trouble, though," he said, and blinked at her comment about Dev and Kyle knowing she'd be kissing someone. "Dev and Kyle definitely don't think that you're like sixteen or seventeen. Kyle knows you're my age, and I kinda hope your aunt does too," he laughed.

Hazel giggled, "ohhh are you saying if we were Auntie Dev and Kyle's age we would have to kiss or be okay?" She teased before sighing. "The guy is... like... a few years younger than my father." She said softly before blinking. "Of course they know how old I am... I just don't want anyone but you, Kyle, and Dev knowing. That I will be kissing an older man. My father isn't going to go until the last day of the show." She said.

Amell came in a few minutes after and looked at the two, "We are going to Gammie's for dinner." He said and Hazel blinked. "I have cookies making and I don't wanna go, Spence just got here too. It would be rude to make him just go home right after coming here." She said. Amell sighed, "Well get your cookies baked then. Where is Dev?" He asked and she pointed upstairs. "Sleeping, but you can wake her. She would be mad if she missed out on free food." She said and he nodded before going up and getting Dev.

Spencer laughed when she teased him about having to kiss if they were older. "Nooo. You're my friend. I wouldn't wanna kiss my friend," he said with a laugh. He blinked in surprise when she said that the actor was almost her dad's age, and then he nodded when she explained that she didn't want people to know. He looked up when Amell came in and was quiet while they talked. When her dad left, he looked over at Hazel. "If you guys have to go then it's fine. I can head home. It's not rude, you silly. It'd be more rude for your dad's friend to think you were coming over and then not come over," he teased with a smile. "I can go after the cookies are done. You should take some with you to your dad's friend's house."

Hazel shook her head, "I really don't want to go and he shouldn't have spoken for me. That just puts me in an awkward position. Hurry, put me in your pocket and run away." She giggled and shook her head once again. "I mean... I know she just wants all of us to get along and all... but... I don't know. I feel like if there was an opportunity to make a move on my dad she would take it, but is that really a bad thing? My mother was the one to leave and not tell him about me... so you can't really say he doesn't deserve it. And he had waited for my mother all these years loving her... BUT is SHE good enough for HIM? Like... is she secretly a criminal? Has she purposefully poison someone? Ugh... I can't have my father date a crazy woman, Spence. I don't want to beat up a short person for hurting my father." She said and stared at Spence. "Take some cookies for Aaron and tell him I said I hope these make him smile. I feel like he would look nice smiling." She said and sighed. "Only way I will go is if you do that for me." She said.

Spencer laughed when Hazel said to put her in his pocket. "You're taller than me, silly. I don't think you'd fit," he said. He was quiet while she talked about her dad's friend, and he could see how conflicted she was about her dad and Gamaya being friends. He blinked when she suggested that her dad's friend could possibly be a criminal or something. "I mean...there's probably some way you can find out whether she's bad or not. I don't know how, but... I dunno, maybe a background check? Isn't your aunt dating Mr. De Larousse? He could find out if there's anything bad about her," he suggested. When she said she'd go for dinner with her dad if he took cookies to Aaron, he laughed and nodded. "Okay. I can do that," he said with a smile.

Hazel sighed, "Fine... curse my tallness." She smirked before thinking about it. "I guess he could? I might mention it to Auntie V." She said. When he laughed and said he could take cookies to Arron she smiled. "Good good... you are so sweet. A bit odd... but I would beat up anyone who would hurt you. Pow pow." She giggled. Dev smirked from the doorway with Amell. "Ohh you so have a crush on Spence." She teased and Amell lightly smacked her in the back of the head. "Leave them be." He said. Dev sighed and walked to the table before sitting down. Amell kissed Hazel's head softly, "we are going to be leaving in a few minutes. Lock the doors behind up, okay?" He said and she looked at Spencer before smiling up at her father. "I am going with... just give me a few more minutes." She said before going get the cookies out of the oven and placing them on the cooking rack. Hazel turned the oven off and rummaged around before finding a couple of containers and placing cookies in each. She handed one to Spencer and one to her father. "We are bringing these over to her house." She said and grabbed the script before running up the stairs to her room and hiding it.

Amell took notice of his daughter's make up and outfit and wondered what the hell was going on. He looked at Spencer and wondered if it was him that as causing her to be this way. He would find out sooner or later. Hazel came down and smiled. "Okay ready to go." She huffed, trying to steady her breathing. Amell nodded and Dev stood before ruffling Spencer's hair. "Adorable." She sighed.

Spencer laughed a little at her words and he nodded when she said she might mention it to her aunt. "Yeah, good idea. Your aunt probably would like to know, too, since your dad is her brother and stuff and she probably cares about making sure he's with a good person," he said. He smiled when she said she would beat up anyone who hurt him, blinking when Dev and Amell came in. He smiled when she told her father that she was going to go with them, taking the cookie container from her once she'd put it together and holding on to it. He blinked when she scurried off up the stairs, but then realized that she obviously hadn't wanted her father to see the script for the play. When she came back down he smiled. "I can walk to the city with you guys and then I'll head home and you head where you're going," he said, and blinked when Dev ruffled his hair and called him adorable, smiling up at her a bit.

Amell nodded, "Sounds good to me. You girls ready?" He asked and they nodded. Hazel grabbed Spencer's hand and walked out with him ahead of the two grownups and leaned in to whisper. "Can you come practice lines with me tomorrow? If not I can do them myself... tots gonna save the kissing part for you," she joked.

Amell watched the two and sighed, "does she have a crush on that boy?" He asked Dev. Dev tried hard not to eat a cookie. "Oh no... Hazel and Spence made it very clear that they are only bestest friends." She smiled and he shook his head. He thought Gammie and himself were good friends and look what he had done with her. A growl escaped his lips and Dev eyed him. She wondered if he had believed her or not. She had been telling the truth. If he knew who she really had a crush on Kyle would have been talked to. Maybe she should talk to him... but that could get messy. Once they passed the bridge Dev hurried over to Spence and draped over him. "Tell your brother, Kyle, that I had fun today." She said and smiled before letting him go.

Spencer let Hazel take him by the hand, walking along with her and laughing a little when she whispered to ask if he could practice lines with her tomorrow. "Okay, but no kissing!" he whispered back, crinkling up his nose a bit. He didn't hear any of what the adults discussed, and once they were across the bridge and back on the main island, he was ready to head home, but then Dev came and draped over him and he blinked, but smiled up at her. "Okay!" he said, and looked at all three of them. "Have a nice dinner!" he told them, and then waved before turning and heading off towards home with the cookies for Aaron.
