"We're doing well." Vance answered
"Yeah, no complaints today." Marshall called from the back.
Now that Amanda was here Vance went to cleaning the shop. He started sweeping while she took the register area. He could never understand how people could make such a mess and drop so many candy wrappers on the floor when the trash can was right there.
The shop seemed to be filled with a deafening silence when there weren't any customers. Vance and Marshall weren't really all that talkative since the break up and it was on the verge of uncomfortable. Marshall did his best to keep his mind off of things by making the candy, but he was making so much now that the store was almost overstocked and Vance had gone into obsessive compulsive mode and was cleaning everything he could. They were trying their best to stay friends, but it just seemed that there was too much awkwardness between them and they had to move on.
As the day went on they got more customers and things picked up. The customers rolled in at a steady pace until closing and then they locked up.
"Okay, I'll see you guys later. Vance said as he waved to the two of them.
"Where you going?" Marshall asked as he noticed Vance walking away from the store and not up to the apartment.
"Oh, just going out for a drink. Vance said casually.
"Okay see you later, have fun."
Vance walked off in the direction that led out of the city. He didn't know where he was going but he just needed to clear his head.
"If I had a date that hot do you really think you wouldn't already know about him?" He chuckled. "I think I might go out tonight too, though, just to have some fun. I should probably put myself back out there, you know what they say about getting back on the horse and all that." Marshall mused. "I think I'll go home and get changed into something a little cooler looking. I could probably use a wing lady if you want to come with." Marshall rarely ever invited Amanda to go out when he was single in the past, but tonight he really wanted to have someone there that he trusted that would keep him from doing something stupid like going home with the first guy to give him a compliment. Also, as much as he hated to admit it, Amanda was really fun to hang out with.
