Luther smiled a bit, "Ahh a jeweler that came in time." He said and nodded. Luther made sure he didn't walk to fast for her, it was a bit of a walk, nothing to bad if you were walking from the drop point to the next island. He just made sure he got something near the city, but not in the city. The house he bought was being sold for a reasonable price. When he asked why no one was buying it up, since the house was in good shape and the land was plenty, the realtor said it was too far out of the way and most people wanted to leave wither in the city, the new suburbs, or on the lake island. He took it right away, it meant not a lot of traffic would be coming around. He liked his silence.

"I know a kind old lady dwarf, she is the one who owns most of the people on the lake island. How she managed to do so is beyond me, but I love her. Such a sweet lady, never met her husband yet. He is an elf, heard he was a bit taller than me. Seven feet or so. Anyway, getting off point here. Her name is Penelo and she is the jeweler of sorts for the city, though she is looking to retire. She just hasn't found the right person for the job. I would recommend going see her one day soon. Maybe tomorrow if you aren't too busy. I can bring you there. Her youngest son is a joy. Red hair curly kid. Penelo makes such gorgeous pieces, but like I said she wants to retire so she can spend more time with her last child and because she said she has been doing it a much to many years. Her daughter Roshia, who I swear is a goddess in an elf body, gathers stones and such for her. If you need I am sure she would be willing to help. Nice girl, amazing hunter and archer. Seen her hunting once and I have to say... I can see why her husband fell in love. Or it could be her personality. Who knows?" He joked.

They got to his house, it wasn't as big as a mansion, but it was a good size. Four bedrooms and two full baths. It was a bit smaller than the other houses he had been in, but he didn't need or want anything bigger. This one house would do, plus he loved it. His own back yard had a drop off, meaning if he ever gave in to his dark thoughts he could just walk off his back yard. Though, he never let himself slip that far. He had even managed to completely shut out Erorn. And he himself hadn't sent him a thought in a good long while. It was nice, he was moving on.

"Home sweet, well temporary home." He smiled at her. He walked her in, the foyer was a bit small though it was comfy. On one side was the kitchen, which was closed off and the other was the office and in the back the living room. "The room you will have, well... I think you will like it. It is kind of closed off from the rest of the house. We call it the Tower Room. It is in the tower and you can get into it two ways. Outside in the back and from inside the house. There is another staircase in the room that leads down to your very own bathroom." He smiled and took her upstairs and down a long hallway before entering the Tower Room. It would fit her just nicely and she didn't have to bother coming in through the house and talking to people if she didn't want.

Barynn quietly followed him along, carrying her bag over her shoulder. As they walked, he talked. The information he was providing was useful enough, though it was interspersed with all sorts of bits that she didn't much care to hear. Another reminder of exactly why she tended to avoid small talk and conversation. It was quite intriguing, though, to find out that there was a retiring jeweler in town. That meant that there was a space to fill, and that meant that she could easily slide in and fill that spot. He also mentioned a girl who would probably be willing to help her - or, in this situation, would the girl be working for her? She'd pay the girl for her service, after all. Her mother might not pay her for her work, but Barynn was not her mother and she doubted that the girl would work for her merely out of the goodness of her heart.

It also seemed beneficial to her that the retiring old woman was a dwarf. That meant that the woman would likely be pleased to have one of her own kin taking over her practice. It also meant, however, that Barynn would have to put more effort into impressing the woman if she was asked to show the woman her skill. Another dwarf would be more likely to spot the impurities and flaws in jewelry that a human or elf might not notice.

Luther's home was quite large. Barynn had seen a number of houses, but none quite as large as this one. She gazed at it in awe as they approached, and he took her inside with him. He told her about the room in which she'd be staying, and her heart jumped slightly at the idea of staying in a tower. She'd gone from living below the ground to living in a tower on an island that floated in the sky. She was quite proud of herself, and looked forward to writing to her parents about it. She hoped that they would be impressed. She also appreciated Luther's comment about the Tower Room being somewhat more secluded than the other rooms and that it had its own entrance - that meant that she could have her privacy, which was ideal to her.

"Thank you," she said in a soft voice as she looked around the room. It was small, but she didn't need anything too big as she was just one person. Aside from that, it was beautiful. Again, it almost seemed too good to be true - but Luther had made it quite clear that he genuinely wanted to help, so she decided to trust him on this.

Luther looked down at Barynn and smiled, "You are welcome. If you need anything just yell. I will be in the house for the rest of the night. If you get hungry or thirsty help yourself to whatever is in the kitchen. Feel free to explore the house." He said, giving a small bow before leaving her to her own devices. He walked own the hall and into him room where he changed to something more suited for outside work, and then went down to see if Rylie was in, but he wasn't so he made his way outside and began tilling the ground.

Barynn didn't say anything more, simply offered Luther a small smile before he left. Once he was gone, she took a moment to circle the room, taking in every little detail. It would definitely be more than enough space for her. She plunked her bag down on the bed and began to unpack her clothes. There wasn't much, but it was all she had ever really needed, so she was content. She and Luther had only just eaten dinner, and it was barely getting late, but now that she was settled down in a bedroom, Barynn was finding herself utterly exhausted. It had been a long journey to reach Veritas Isle, and she'd found that the carriage was not the best place for sleeping. Even when she and the carriage driver had stopped in town to sleep, the beds in the inns had generally been of poor quality, and she'd found herself tossing and turning for much of the night. She laid down on the bed, figuring she'd close her eyes and rest for a bit before deciding what to do next. She still had much the evening ahead of her. Before she knew it, though, she was sound asleep, her hazel eyes firmly shut and her dark hair spread out around her on the bed.

Rylie came in a bit later alone. Luther was done tilling, he had showered when he came in, and now was laying on the couch with a book. Rylie looked down at his boss, "Lazy night?" He asked and sat in a chair across from the couch. He slid down and relaxed, "Kinda, we have a new roomie. She is in the tower room." He said. Rylie raised an eyebrow, "Oh? Will she be an escort?"

Luther shook his head no. "Nah, she is going to be working little things while trying to get a shop. She does jewelry. I don't know where she is from, not much of a talker, but I know she has barely enough money to get the shop so she is staying rent free."

Rylie nodded, "Is she hot?" He asked.

Luther thought about it, "Hot would be an insult to her. She is... beautiful. Tan skin, hazel eyes, dark brown hair. I say she is a beauty all right." He said like he was talking about a painting or jewel. Rylie got up and took a candle. He made his way up the stairs and over to the tower room where he peeked in. He saw her laying there on the bed, sound asleep. Rylie couldn't help but smirk. She was indeed beautiful. Luther flicked the back of his head and mouthed to get out. Rylie sighed and did as he was told, Luther followed suit.

"You creep." Luther huffed.

"Excuse me? Who had me sneaking into Elwin's house? You. You made this monster." Rylie smirked and headed for his room.

"So... when are you going to tell Beluar that you are in love with him?" Luther asked, rather curious when his friend and ex lover would finally spill the beans.

Rylie stopped moving and tensed before slowly turning around, "Never if I can help it. He is my best friend and I would rather him in my life in some aspect than not in my life at all. Ofelia and Roshia are already hanging above my head. I don't need you to be like them either." He said and left Luther to stand alone in the hallway.

When Barynn's hazel eyes fluttered open, she was stunned to see sunlight pouring in through the windows of the Tower Room. She couldn't believe it - had she really slept all night? She blinked in the warm golden light, smiling to herself. It felt so warm, embracing her as it streamed into the room. It had taken her eighteen years to see the sun, but now, she hated to be anywhere but beneath it. She stretched herself out slightly, a yawn escaping her lips as she did, and then she ran a hand through her dark hair. She was slow to get to her feet, and a bit wobbly once there, but she certainly felt well-rested. The bed had been comfortable enough for her - and large, since it was obviously intended for a surface-dweller - and she'd slept a long time, apparently. She went and grabbed an outfit, a short-sleeved white blouse and an ankle-length navy blue skirt, and then she headed towards the staircase that would lead her to the private bathroom Luther had indicated.

Even the bathroom was larger than any Barynn had seen before. She couldn't help but to grin as she undressed, heading straight for the shower and turning on the hot water. She waited a moment before sticking her hand beneath the stream of water that came out, and she couldn't help but to be impressed with how quickly it had heated up. She stepped inside, eagerly letting the hot water cascade over her small frame.

She stayed in the shower for a short while before getting out, turning the water off behind her. She had a wide smile on her lips as she wrapped herself up in a towel, feeling more comfortable than she had in months. Running water - albeit cold water - had been a necessity back in her underground home, but she'd found that few of the surface-dwellers had it in the towns she'd passed through on her way here. It was a relief that Veritas Isle had it. She toweled herself off and wrapped a towel around her wet hair as she pulled her clothing on, smoothing the skirt out as she pulled it over her legs. Once dressed, she headed back up the stairs to her room, ready to start her day. Her first order of business, she figured, was finding Luther so he could take her to the places he'd talked about taking her - either that or finding some breakfast, whichever ended up coming first.

After bidding Luther goodnight, Barynn headed up to the Tower Room. There was a bit of a bounce in her step and a smile on her lips as she changed into a simple nightdress, a plain, knee-length white one with short sleeves and a scooped neckline. She laid down in the bed, curling up beneath the covers and getting comfortable. After the long day she'd had, it didn't take her long to drift peacefully off to sleep.

Her sleep, however, would not remain as peaceful as it began. Several times over the course of the night, Barynn found herself waking with a start from some nightmare that, though she couldn't remember what it was, had her sick to her stomach and restless. Each time, she struggled to get back to sleep. She was soon feeling exhausted, perhaps even moreso than she had been when she went to bed.

Morning came, but finally, Barynn was sound asleep. At a first glance, it appeared to be a restful sleep, but every minute or so, a little whimper would leave the dwarf's lips, or she'd shift uncomfortably in her sleep. Every now and then, she'd even speak a small, frightened little word, a "No" or a "Stop". She was supposed to be meeting Luther in the kitchen at 9:30, but that time was fast approaching and still, her fitful, nightmare-plagued sleep had her in its grasp.

Luther looked at the time and it was almost ten. He wondered if she was just doing what ladies did sometime and take a bit long to get ready, but then it was ten past ten and he went up to see if he could hear anything. At first he heard nothing and then the small little words of no and stop reached the door. Luther gently open the door and saw her in her bed. Her cover was pushed off of her and her nightgown was pushed up. Luther looked at her legs for a moment, a smooth tan, and gently covered her with her cover and sat down on the edge of her bed. "Barynn, dear, you are having a bad dream, I'm afraid." He said softly.

Barynn let out a slight whimper as Luther sat down beside her, turning her head to the side slightly. Her thick waves of dark hair were splayed out all around her on the pillow. His voice softly speaking to her, however, began to slowly draw her out of her sleep. Her thick eyelashes fluttered groggily as she drifted back to consciousness, and suddenly, as she became aware of where she was and who was beside her, she was wide awake. She sat bolt upright, her hazel eyes going wide. "L-Luther?" she stammered, still trembling a little bit from the dream, but also acutely aware that Luther was here. In her bedroom. While she was in her nightgown.

"Hey, sleepy head. I got a bit worried when you didn't come down." He said softly. Well aware that he was in her room and she was in her nightgown. He had a lovely glimpse of it, but he just smiled gently. "I am assuming you were having nightmares all night and didn't get much sleep. It's okay, happens to the both of is. I have your breakfast warming in the oven when you get down." He said softly and got up, walking out of her room and into the kitchen. He pushed the thoughts of her down and instead wondered how the hell he was going to get the machinery into Barynn's shop. Or better yet out of Penelo's house.

Barynn's cheeks went a bright red as she heard his words. She didn't even have a chance to be flattered that he was worried about her, as she was too busy simply feeling awkward that he'd had to come and get her, and that he'd been there in the room with her while she was in bed with her nightgown on. She was quiet while he left, and once he was gone, she scrambled to get out of bed. She hurried into the adjoining washroom, having what she could only call the quickest shower she'd ever had in her life, and then she scrambled to get dressed. If there was one thing she was going to need to get once she started making money, it was better clothing. If she was the owner of a fine jewelry shop, she'd need more than just the simple dresses that had been able to fly when she'd been little more than an apprentice. She left her thick hair damp, wringing it out as best as she could before she hurried downstairs to meet Luther in the kitchen.

Luther was walking around the kitchen as her food heated and thought about the maneuvers that they could use to get the stuff out of Penelo's house and into Barynn's shop. He heard footsteps and looked up to see a rushed Barynn and chuckled a bit. "You didn't have to rush." He said and took her breakfast out of the over and placed it on the table while he leaned against the counter. "We never gave Pene a time that we would be going over." He said softly.
