Rhyanid was quiet, gently carrying James to his nursery and depositing him in the crib. He was relieved that he'd stirred only minimally, and then he turned and crept as silently as he could from the room, smirking as he saw Isla. "Baby is down for the night. We're in the clear," he joked with a grin.

Yoranda giggled at his words. "I'm full of smart ideas when it comes to twin things," she said. She was quiet while he told her his story, giggling a bit when he said dumb old bear. She blinked when he was done, looking at him. "That's so sweet. You're such a sweet big old bear. But that's...definitely not a story to be telling our babies," she said with a giggle.

Bastian smiled when she said that her brother wouldn't have a problem with him coming in, following her out of the water. "I'd like to meet him as well," he told her. He was quite fond of Hazel, and he was very curious about meeting her father. He smiled a bit when she teased him about getting past a glass of wine and conversation. "I have faith," he chuckled, walking after her.

Jerome smiled and nodded when she said that he'd be at fault if anything went missing. "Oh, but of course. My collector would never dare steal from my tenants. He knows better than to risk it with me," he chuckled. "Where in the house do you want to leave the payment if you're not home, then? Kitchen counter, dining room table, shelf by the front door...?" he asked. She certainly seemed to be good at answering questions only partially.

Isla watched him before moving out of his way and closing the door partially closed. She wanted it so he wouldn't hear much and so she could hear him if he cried. A small giggle escaped when he said they were in the clear and motioned for him to follow her. She lead him into the living room and sat on the couch before patting the seat next to her. "Come come... sit sit. Tell me about yourself a bit... I only really know you from work... and your... uhm... adventure with Victoria." She said softly.

Birger groaned a bit when she called him an old ead and when she said the story wasn't for babies he shook his head. "That is why I am practicing on you, silly." He smirked and kissed her forehead before getting up and putting the chair away. "Are you sure you don't want me to sleep upstairs in the spare room or down in the bar on the cot?" He asked softly.

Ingrid's eyebrow rose when he said his worker knew better than to do that with him. What was this elf capable of? He didn't seem like the fighting type. He was nowhere near her ex-husband in muscle and she couldn't see him fighting. He probably paid people to do such a job. Ingrid had to protect herself so she was going to dig up dirt about him as much as she could before getting her hands dirty. "Ahh hmm... let me see... since I don't have really any furniture... I guess I can do a small table by the door that way he doesn't have to go walking around the house and tempt himself with looking around and digging. He can just slip his hand in and grab the money before leaving." She smiled.

Rhyanid smiled and followed her when she motioned for him to do so. He headed into the living room with her and he sat down when she asked him to, chuckling a bit at her words. "Well, uh... what do you want to know? I feel like you've already pieced most of it together from things we've told you at work. I'm Rhyanid, I'm twenty-five, I've got a dog named Sadie... I was born in a nomadic elven tribe. My mom's Lanissa, my dad's name was Eriato, and I had a sister named Illyana who was six years older. My mom was a trader, and my dad was a cripple. We were mostly raised by our uncle and we left after my younger sister Zelipia was born since she was obviously part human and that meant our mother had an affair, but Illyana stayed behind with our dad and uncle. We came here and an elderly elven lady who'd also been kicked out of her tribe a long, long time ago took us in out of pity, helped our mom get back on her feet, and ended up leaving the house to our family when she passed on. Now we run a pet shop," he said, and paused slightly. "I, uh... haven't really had a serious relationship in a few years. Honestly, I dated Victoria for, what, like a week or two? And that was the most serious I've been in a while. I was dating this girl before...we dated for a while. I asked her to marry me, and she...said no. So that kinda hurt, obviously, and really threw me off my game, so I haven't really dated in a good bit, so...yeah," he said with a bit of a nervous chuckle. "Your turn."

Yoranda laughed a little and nodded. "You need more practice. Luckily you've got several months to figure it out," she said. When he asked if she was sure she didn't want him to sleep somewhere else, she blinked and shook her head. "No. I want you here, with me. You make me feel safe, and I've got three of me that need to feel safe now. Plus you're such a snuggly big old bear," she said with a giggle.

Jerome smiled as he heard Ingrid's words and he gave a nod. "Wary of your privacy, I see. That's understandable. I'll be sure to let the collector know to minimize the time he spends in your home if you don't answer the door. Respecting privacy can be a delicate matter with renting," he said, beginning to file away the paperwork, tearing off the pink copy and handing it to her. "Here's your copy of the rental agreement. I trust that you'll keep yourself familiar with it, and I won't stop by and discover any undisclosed roommates or pets," he said with a chuckle. "Now, the issue of furniture...for a small fee, I could have the place furnished for you, if that would be helpful, or if you'd prefer to buy your own furnishings you could obviously do that yourself. There's an excellent shop not far from here that sells furniture at affordable prices - it's secondhand and you'll want to inspect all the furniture there for quality purposes, but many of my tenants have mentioned having great successes there," he told her.

Isla listened to him and shook her head. Why would anyone say no to a nice good looking man? There had to be something wrong with him. Though she wasn't going to write him off just yet. "Oh... me? Hmm... Okay. I am Isla." She giggled, finding this silly. "I am nineteen years old and I come from a small island off the coast of the kingdom... actually it is right below here. Hmm I come from a family of fishers. My mother died when I was four but my father did an amazing job raising me. He passed away recently. So... uhm... after he passed I decided that I was going to come up here to be with Talila since I didn't have any family down there, I can't really run a fishing boat, and I have James. Oh so I have a son named James." She smiled, laughing a bit. "I love him with all my heart and soul and then some. He was a good that came out of a very bad situation." She said softly and looked down at her hands. Should she tell him? What if she thought what she went through was too much baggage? If it was she didn't want to waste her time falling for him if he was just going to leave. "Now how do I say this..." Isla said and looked around before looking at him. "At seventeen I met Dover, James' father, he was... at first a good bit like you, sweet, caring, and fun. He had a life about him that I wanted to be part of. He had spent the whole summer on the island and I won't lie... I feel stupidly hard for him that my judgment was... way off." She laughed a bit and shrugged. "I realized what he was really up to and... it was really bad. He had been scouting, trying to find a girl that could be sold in the trade. He forced himself on me in a course of a month before James, the man that is daying Zel's friend, bought us... only to free us from the trade. I met Talila through all of this. She was kidnapped from the island and well... yeah... but she wasn't touched. The man who kidnapped her had literally stabbed someone for doing so. She got lucky. Anyway... James had Dover killed. Osmond was the one to do it and he was also the one to bring us home. Now I live here and work at a pretty cool pet shop." She said to try and lighten things up.

Birger scuffed, "I do not make you feel safe... I am literally the man who hurt you, Yora" He said and climbed into bed, but kept his distance. "Also... don't call me snuggly old bear... or old bear down in the bar. The fucking patrons are brutal." He chuckled and shook his head. Birger laid on his back and closed his eyes. "You should get some sleep. Kids need their rest." He smirked.

Ingrid nodded when he commented about her being wary of her privacy. She always kept things accounted for. So if something was to go missing she would know. "Well, that's good to hear." She took the pink slip and put it in her bag. "Of course. No roommates. No pets." She said and bit her bottom lip to stop herself from asking about if SHE was the pet. That is one thing she didn't want to say to a man like him. When he talked about furniture she smirked, "Oh? And do you own this secondhand furniture shop, Mr. Salzin?" She asked.

Rhyanid was quiet while Isla talked about herself. He smiled at every one of her little jokes, and as the topic got darker, his smile faded into a concerned frown. When she reached the end and said she worked at a pretty cool pet shop, he smiled a bit more. "Well, I'm really, really sorry to hear about all of that. It's...definitely a worse tragic backstory than proposing to a girlfriend and her saying no because she wasn't ready for marriage yet," he said softly. "I know it probably doesn't mean much to you but I promise you that I'll never, ever do anything to you that you don't want, okay? I get that no means no, and I'll always, always respect that," he told her gently.

Yoranda gazed at Birger as he climbed into bed, shaking her head a bit. "Don't tell me what I feel. You make me feel safe. Can I fucking explain it? No. I know that logically you shouldn't make me feel safe, but you do, so deal with it," she said. "I won't call you a snuggly old bear in front of the patrons. There's nothing wrong with being a bear, though. Bears are scary. They're huge and they have lots of teeth and claws and they'll eat your head off," she said. She scooted closer to him and snuggled up to his side quietly when he closed his eyes.

Jerome blinked when she said no roommates or pets. "Roommates and pets are fine as long as I'm made aware of them ahead of time and give my approval," he said with a bit of a smirk. When she asked if he owned the secondhand furniture shop, he smirked a bit and shook his head. "Not technically, no, but one could certainly argue that I own the owner," he said with a chuckle. "He's a former employee of mine. I helped him to get where he is today and he owes me a great debt... I suppose his debt should be increasing, though, with how many customers I send his way," he joked with a smile.

Isla smiled before nodding, "I figured that much... or rather hope. You seem like a really good and kindhearted man... so..." She said softly and smiled. "I wouldn't have invited you over if I didn't trust you enough." She said. He looked so handsome and she had to fight the urge to cup his face and squish it.

Birger wondered if maybe SHE should go see a psychiatrist too. It was only logical to fear the person who hurt you. He let it be and let her come closer. He didn't want to have her get angry at him for just trying to be thoughtful... or maybe he was doing this because he was scared of himself. He didn't trust himself, that was for sure. Birger gently ran his fingers through her hair and tried to calm down.

Ingrid shrugged when he said that they were allowed, just with his permission. The man was really showing his colors in this conversation. If he was a damn peacock his tail would be open and shaking. He wasn't the hottest man she had ever seen, so he had nothing to be shaking. His comment about owning the guy who owned the furniture store made her scuff before she adjusted. "I guess your kind are all in the same. Thanks, but I can get the rest on my own. I just need the key, please. Oh and his debt doesn't increase because you send people his way. That isn't how that works." She said, her sweet and innocent look replaced by that of an annoyed one. "Now key please, unless there is something else you need to explain to me, Mr. Salzin."

Rhyanid smiled over at her when she said that she hoped she could trust him, and that she wouldn't have invited him over if she didn't trust him enough to begin with. "Well, I promise to keep on proving that you're making the right call by trusting me," he said. "Now, enough about the unpleasant stuff. Aside from fish and motherhood, what kinds of things are you into?" he asked. "I really like swimming... and outdoorsy stuff in general... oh, and I think pocket watches are pretty neat, I've got a small collection of them and if I ever have kids I wanna be one of those tacky parents that gets a tattoo of a pocket watch with the time the kid was born on it," he said with a laugh.

Yoranda smiled when Birger didn't push her away or move away, and she snuggled in close when she felt his fingers running through her hair. "I love you, my big snuggly bear. Goodnight," she said softly, closing her brown eyes. It wasn't long before she drifted peacefully off to sleep there in his arms, perfectly content and relaxed.

Jerome raised an eyebrow at the girl's reaction, not sure why she'd suddenly become so annoyed. "And here I'd assumed you could laugh at a joke here and there. My apologies if I offended, my dear," he said, standing up. He went to a cabinet and opened it up, unlocking a box and rummaging around inside until he found a set of keys. He took one of them off and went over, holding them out to her. "Here you are. I'll be stopping by within the next few days to check in on you and see how you're settling in. All my properties are inspected monthly when they're vacant, so everything should be in working order, but let me know if anything isn't and I'll be sure it gets fixed," he said.

Isla nodded and listened to him speak, "Aww, that is so cute! I would have never known you had a thing for them. I never see you with one on. Though I guess you wouldn't when you have to deal with animals and stuff all day." She laughed a bit. "I think it is cute that you want a tattoo like that. Oh... I should get one of a fish and put James' name in it. Tali has been talking about getting small cherries on her arm. She and Elizabeth had been talking about tattoos. So she had me interested in one, though I don't know where yet I would get it." She said and smiled up at him. "Ahh yeah, I like swimming too. Did it a whole bunch on my island. I have camped a good few times too. Hmm... I haven't really done too much since James was born. Fish and James are pretty much my life now." She said softly and looked down at her hands. "I used to like a lot of what teen girls my age liked. Shopping, gossip, crushing on guys." She smiled and shook her head. "But you learn to grow up when you have a tiny, well tinier for me, human whose life is in your hands," Isla said and looked back up at him. "A lot of things tend to shift when you have a kid. Oh! Reading... I have been doing a lot of that now. You know before bed and all."

Ingrid shook her head, "You don't know me for jack, Mr. Salzin. So don't assume that your sleazy joke would have been a tune I liked to hear." She said before taking the keys. "I am sure the house is up to par in that it is livable. If it is anything I have learned today it is that you are excellent at your job. You don't seem like the man to have things not in shape. You seem like a man in control." She said and nodded. "I will be expecting you in a few days then. Thanks for the place." She said and turned before heading to the door in the front of the building. She was going to have to keep an eye out for that one.

Rhyanid chuckled when she said she'd never seen him with a pocketwatch. "Well, no, I don't really have anywhere to put one. I have a small collection at home, though - I don't know what it is about them, maybe just something to do with the shape? I don't know," he laughed. He smiled when she talked about getting a fish tattoo with James's name on it, laughing a little when she said that Talila and Elizabeth had been talking about tattoos. "As long as they don't go getting matching ones or anything like that. Seems a bit early and precarious for that," he said. He smiled when she said she used to like a lot of teenage girl things. "Maybe we should give Zel a tiny human and put its life in her hands so she does some growing up," he chuckled. He smiled when she said she enjoyed reading. "I've never really been a huge reader. I'd rather go out and do things on my own than read about other people doing things."

Jerome gave Ingrid a polite nod and watched her leave. He had to admit, he was intrigued. She was a strong one, it seemed, with an indomitable will. He had a feeling it would take some work to dominate such a will - of course, Jerome was never one to back down from a challenge, especially not when that challenge had such stunning eyes and a great rack to boot. He figured he'd give her a few days to get settled in before he started to tweak the strings, but it was likely going to take a great deal of string-pulling to win this one over. He smiled a bit, jotting down some notes off the paperwork she'd filled out and then wrote out a quick letter before standing up. He headed into the front of his office and approached his secretary. "Do me a favour and have this delivered to Geoffrey McPherson?" he asked, and she nodded, taking the envelope from him. He smiled politely before heading back into his office to get back to work.

Isla thought when Rhyan talked about something he really enjoyed it made him adorable. She shook her head at the matching tattoo thing, "Oh no... I think the same thing. Cherry is her nickname her siblings gave since she named each sibling their names. Apple, Fig, and Peach." She laughed. "Oh and Elizabeth is Lychee. So... she has a thing for fruit and trees." She smirked before blinking. "Well, James is out of the question." She giggled. "I am sure one of her friends can do that, once they are done hogging them and such." Isla said before looking up at him. "Well, I can't really get up and do something outdoors at like eight at night with a baby, so..." She laughed before looking back down as she played with the hem of her dress. Isla looked up at him, her eyes catching him lips and blushed.

Sophia had just finished up a meeting with the new director of festivals since Rowan didn't really have time to do that anymore. The new director had requested that Rowan review all festival plans and sign off on them though so she was on her way to talk to Rowan about that when she saw Gene standing there and blinked. What on Earth was she doing here. "Gene? Did you get lost or something..?" She asked as she approached the young girl. She honestly hadn't been expecting to run into her, especially not here.

"I need you to bring me back home... and possibly talk to my father. I get I didn't make things easy on him after... uhm... all that had happened and stuff... but... uhm I kind of started to like not having him smother me all the time. I tried talking him into coming talk to you but he said that we, me and him, need to get on better terms or something and I have told him like a million and one times that I am fine with you two. I love my daddy and all... but I need my space now." She said softly.

Sophie blinked and then shook her head. "We're not together for reasons not involving his relationship with you too. He does not wish to be with me, I am not what he wants and he's made that clear." She said speaking softly. A man came up and touched her arm to get her attention and she didn't even flinch, instead simply smiling warmly and taking the paper he had for her. And thanking him for getting it so quickly. "I'll walk you home since the city isnt any place for a little girl to be wandering alone, but then I'm getting back to getting Rowan things he needs to work on. Come on dear." Rhyanid laughed when Isla mentioned Talila loving fruit and trees. "So you just need someone who loves birds or clouds - or maybe outer space? - to complete the cute little nature obsessions group," he joked with a laugh. "Since Elizabeth's a sailor, right? And you love fish...so I guess you two can work together to be the ocean people, then Talila's the land person...sorry, I see now what a shitty joke it was," he said, laughing at himself. He nodded when she said they couldn't really go out this late. "No, especially not since we're supposed to be keeping this on the down-low. The last thing we need is to go out and bump into my mother," he laughed. The way she played with the hem of her skirt was adorable, and he smiled down at her. "Do you have any board games that'd work with two people, maybe?" he suggested after a moment's thought.

Even if you are like eleven feet tall." She giggled and cupped his face softly before dropping her hands and looking around before looking back at him. "Ahhh no... you see... James is a real shitty board game player so I don't have any board games." She giggled. "Though maybe I should pick some up next time I am out shopping. Since it is either me or Tali and I with James, we don't really play." She said and looked around, pressing her finger to her bottom lip as she though of what they could do.
