Getting To Know Me

Image
Image

| ❈Gender❈ | "That’s rude of you to ask."
Female

| ❈Age❈ | "Too old if you ask me."
Fifteen Moons

| ❈Like❈ | "Well, let’s see. Sleeping in the sun, eating in the sun, hunting in the sun.."
Echosong enjoys napping on warm, sunny days and stargazing on warm nights. For this reason, Echosong enjoys days off and lazy days without much working because she can sleep in late and stay up late as well. However, despite her love of lazing around, Echosong also enjoys running, hunting, and fishing.

| ❈Dislikes❈ | "Ohh.. Don’t even get me started."
For many reasons, Echosong despises dogs and two-legged. The two combined are her absolute worst nightmare. Echosong also hates the snow and cold, dark weather in general.

| ❈Habits❈ | "None. Can I leave now?"
Somewhere in her life, Echosong picked up the horrible habit of chewing and licking at her right paw. It may have been a nervous habit at one point, but now she simply does it when is bored. Echosong also has very odd sleeping patterns - especially in the summer and spring days. She enjoys staying up late to gaze at the stars and she also likes getting up late in the afternoon when she can.

| ❈Physical Appearance❈ | "Just don’t call me ‘small’, okay?"
Echosong is a on the smaller side - especially for a Bengal cat. At first glance she seems to be underweight, but she really just has a slight build and happens to be a rather sleek and beautiful cat. Rather than brute strength, she is built more for swiftness, agility, and tactics. She may not seem very intimidating; however, her piercing green eyes, sharp wit, and agility will surprise you. She also has a scar that runs from the top of her right shoulder to the center of her chest.

| ❈Clan/Position in the Clan❈ | "I may not be clan-born, but I’m proud to be Thunderclan."
Thunderclan, Warrior

| ❈Personality❈ | "I ain't lazy, but I like when I have time off to be lazy."
Echosong is a cat who is known for her predominant easy-going attitude. She has been known to let mistakes made by others slide. However, the cats of Thunderclan know very well that this is not a sign of weakness. When it comes to endangerment of the Clan or a member of the Clan, Echosong instantly becomes the fierce warrior that she is known to be.

Echosong is protective and extremely respectful of every clan member. Echosong is extremely loyal to the clan and would do anything to ensure the good of Thunderclan. After everything that they have done for her, she feels the need to give them her all. Most of the time, Echosong is joking around with the cats, playing with the kits, or hunting alongside the warriors. She enjoys laying in the sun surrounded by her Clan rather than being secluded in the den.

Despite her normally lax, fun nature, Echosong is always prepared to be a strong, noble warrior. In a matter of seconds, she can slick her fur back, put a stern face on, and stand proudly so that she looks taller than she really is. Despite her small stature, when Echosong gets serious, angry, or determined, she is a force to be reckoned with. Her voice goes from light-hearted to thick and commanding. When she wants to be heard or known, she will be.

| ❈Eating Preferences❈| "I'll eat anything."
Despite her small stature, Echosong has been known to love food. She normally does not eat a lot because she feels it is best to save food for when it is needed, but she loves to eat and will eat pretty much any prey that is caught. Her favorite would probably be fish or squirrel.

Under My Fur

Image
|❈Secrets❈ | "I try not to keep them."
Echosong often hides the fact that she believes she is not strong enough to be a warrior. Although she dreams of being leader and acts as strong and noble as she can, Echosong does not believe herself to possess enough strength to become leader.

|❈Fears/Phobias❈ | "I'm certainly not afraid to admit my fears, but the reasons behind them are for me and only me to know."
Echosong is extremely afraid of dogs and two-legged for various reasons such as them being the reason for her mother's death and because both are frightening in any case. Although she does not fear death, Echosong does fear dying alone. She would gladly lay down her life for her Clan, but she fears that she will die with no one around. She also fears that she will not have found love before she dies, although that is something she would never admit.

|❈Serious Problems/Flaws❈ | "Can we skip this question?"
Her most significant flaw is that she doubts herself. Despite the fact that she often puts on a tough act, Echosong has a serious problem with thinking she is not good enough. She pretends that she is strong and noble-hearted; however, she constantly beats herself up because she believes she does not deserve her high rank in within the Clan. Lately, Echosong's old mentor, Wildstorm, has been consoling her on this, telling her that he believes she has what it takes to be leader of Thunderclan.

|❈History❈ | "Luckily, I can’t remember most of the bad stuff that’s happened."
Echosong was born to a Loner mother, Lark, who could barely take care of her son, Ren, much less her new yet-to-be-named daughter. Echosong's mother had foolishly created their nest close to a two-leg nest so that she would be away from the clans and have easy access to the food scraps of the two-legged. However, one day the two-legged's dog got off of its leash while Lark was searching through the garbage bin. Lark hastily grabbed her 3-week-old kit by the scruff and nudged Ren, telling him they had to go. However, the dog had already spotted the trio. Lark ran as fast as she could and got rather far into the woods before the dog caught up to her. He scratched at Lark and Echosong - giving her the scar that she has on her chest - but Lark was able to momentarily overpower the dog and get Echosong to safety. She carefully hid her kit in a hole inside a tree before she was dragged down by the dog. Perhaps Echosong was too young to remember the events, or maybe she has just been very good at blocking them out. Whatever the case, the warrior claims that she only remembers getting the scratch on her chest and nothing else.

Luckily, in all of the commotion, Ren had been able to escape. However, Echosong never saw her brother again. She hopes with all her heart that he was able to find a clan or was able to fend for himself in the wild, but Echosong truly has no idea what happened to him. Echosong was left in that tree for a day and a half until Quickstrike, her adoptive father, finally found the sight of her mother's murder on a hunting trip. He heard her pitiful mews and rushed her back to Thunderclan where her wound was tended to and she was given milk by Quickstrike's nursing mate, Cloverfrost. No one knows if Echosong really had a name before she came to Thunderclan, but she was given the name Echokit and was quickly taken in as a Thunderclan member with her new sibling, Morningkit. Cloverfrot says that the reason she was called Echokit was because when she came to Thunderclan, Echosong was all but mute. She was shy and refused the speak to anyone there. After about a moon, around the time when the clan decided she would be an official member of Thunderclan, she finally began to speak to her adoptive family. But at first, she would only echo the mews, purrs, and sometimes words of the cats around her. Therefore, they decided that Echokit was the best suited name.

Echosong grew up as a normal cat. Despite her unusual upbringings and her sad backstory, she was a very social and loving cat. Although unlikely as Echosong may have thought, she always wanted to be a warrior and even more so the leader of Thunderclan. She simply wanted to protect the cats that had taken her in so graciously. When she turned 6 moons, there was some debate over whether she would be an apprentice. A decision was made that Echosong would be an apprentice, but she would have to wait until she was 7 moons. She waited patiently and finally, on the day she turned 7 moons, she became an apprentice to Wildstorm, one of the strongest warriors at the time. He was a bit hesitant at being mentor to a non-native-born cat, but Echosong grew on him and he came to love the ambitious, determined, and strong kit.

After several moons of training, Echosong finally received her warrior name and has been a proud warrior of Thunderclan ever since. She has dreams of one day being leader; however, she knows that that is a long shot -especially since she is not native-born. She feels that she has finally proven herself to Thunderclan and only wants to serve them to her absolute fullest as their leader. Every morning, she wakes up and thanks Starclan for everything she has been given.

|❈Acquaintances❈| "I enjoy the company of most of my fellow warriors."
Echosong is friends with many of the warriors and other cats of the clan; however she rarely forms deep bonds with anyone. She prefers to keep simple acquaintances.

|❈Family❈ | "I’d rather not talk about it."
Echosong has two families: her biological and her adoptive. Her biological family consists of an unknown father, a deceased mother (Lark) and an older brother (Ren) whose status and whereabouts are unknown. Her adoptive family consists of a living mother (Cloverfrost) whom she loves very much, a living father (Quickstrick) whom she does not really know too well, and a sister (Morningfire) whom she is extremely close with.

|❈Techniques❈| "I’m built for speed and I use that to my advantage."
As previously stated, Echosong is not made to be extremely strong or burly by any means. She is small and is built to be quick and flexible. She uses this to sneak around and stay silent during an ambush of prey.

|❈Thoughts on Others❈ | "This is a noble, loving clan and I would not dare say that I dislike anyone."
Since being brought into the clan, Echosong has made a vow to never disrespect or outwardly hate anyone in the clan. However, there are several cats that get under her fur- mostly those who think she does not deserve her position. For example, there is a tom warrior who believes that she should not have even been able to become an apprentice to Wildstorm - one of the greatest warriors at the time she apprenticed him.

As Echosong came upon a patch of sunlight, she bowed down and stretched her back and front legs. She didn't hate patrolling all that much, but she would have rather been taking a nap on such a perfect, sunny day. Her back gave a small spasm as she stood up straight once more and proceeded to stretch out her hind legs. She was contemplating blowing off her patrolling duties when her ears pricked at the noise of hisses and growls off in the distance. Instantly on high alert, Echosong bolted toward the sound. As she came closer to the sound, Echosong's fur began to fluff, knowing the sound of a battle when she heard it.

Coming upon the fight, Echosong noticed what she guessed were Riverclan cats fighting against the cats in Echosong's patrol group. They had been threatening the other clans for some time, but not many had actually believed their threats to be valid. The Riverclan cats appeared to be outnumbered, but just as Echosong thought this, a Thunderclan warrior was thrown to the side and skidded to a halt directly in front of Echosong. She kept her composition as she sorrowfully realized that this was one of her friends. Due to Riverclan's insatiable need for land, a valiant warrior was dead. Rage built inside Echosong until it was too much and she could not hold herself back from jumping into the brawl, claws unsheathed and teeth bared. The battle was short lived and the Riverclan cats ended up retreating with their tails between her legs.

Other than one death, few injuries were sustained by the Thunderclan cats. Echosong was one cat that limped away with bit marks in her right front leg, but she was more focused on the guilt she felt for the deceased warrior. Maybe if she had gotten there before, he would still be alive. With heavy hearts, the departed warrior was carried back to camp by two other warriors. The walk was completely silent as the group mourned the loss of one of their own. Upon finally reaching the camp, Echosong sighed heavily and began to limp to the medicine cat along with several others.

ImageSilvernight was having an amazing day. She and her brother, Heartfall, had woken up extra early and had gone on a hunting patrol. They had spent most of the morning lazily stalking prey, taking their time and enjoying the nice weather and the excellent company. When they were finished, Heartfall had caught a sparrow, two voles, and a rabbit (which he was most proud of because of its size), which Silvernight had only caught two mice. They had buried what they could not carry in their mouths, and planned on coming back for them later or having an apprentice go out and get them.

On their way back to camp Heartfall was teasing his sister for not catching very much. “It's really not my fault,” she groaned through the two mice that she held in her mouth.
Her brother snorted and replied “If you would quit worrying about your fur, maybe you would have caught more prey.”
“Don't even pretend you know what it's like to deal with this fur,” she hissed back as they got closer to camp. “I have enough catchweed stuck to me to replenish Crowheart's stock for a moon!”

Suddenly her brother stopped in front of her and perked his ears, worry playing across his eyes.
“What is it?” she asked.
“Somethings not right,” he said hesitantly. Wordlessly the two of them picked up their pace and rushed towards their camp. They slipped past the thorn barrier and hurriedly put the prey they had gotten in the freshkill pile. “It smells like Riverclan.” Heartfall growled, and nodded his head towards the warriors that had been attacked while on patrol. There was a heaviness to the air, though it seemed clear that Thunderclan had come out victorious. Silvernight spotted Echosong heading towards the medicine cats den and she brusquely walked up to her and stopped her to ask “What happened?”

ImageEchosong limped to the medicine cat's den, off-handedly wondering where her apprentice, Russetpaw was at the moment and whether he had found out about the fight. She momentarily halted her trek to the medicine cat as she heard another cat padding up to her. Echosong looked over to see that it was Silvernight, a fellow warrior, who stopped her to ask what had happened.

Echosong sighed and sat heavily on her haunches, almost glad that Silvernight had stopped her. She needed an excuse to sit down for a moment. Echosong looked at Silvernight with sorrowful eyes and shook her head. "Riverclan attacked our patrol group," she said in a low, husky tone. She paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to word the next part correctly. "We lost Mousepelt," she said in a whisper. Echosong looked away, not wanting to show weakness to a fellow warrior such as Silverpelt. Mousepelt had been a dear friend. He was one of the only cats that had believed that Echosong was a true part of Thunderclan and it struck her rather deeply to lose him.

Echosong licked at her wounded paw in an attempt to hide her grief-stricken face. She knew that Silvernight would understand if she was a bit shaken, but that did not mean that Echosong wanted to look broken to any cat of Thunderclan. She sniffled a bit and let out an unintentional huff before gathering her emotions and righting herself. When she was finally able to speak without her voice faltering, Echosong looked back up at Silvernight. "I apologize for being emotional. It's just... he was a great cat."

Silvernight bowed her head in respect for the lost warrior. She hadn’t known Mousepelt all that well, but any loss to the clan was going to affect all of the members of the clan, admittedly in different ways. “No need to apologize,” she mewed softly, knowing that Echosong and Mousepelt had been close. “I’m so sorry, Mousepelt will be sorely missed.” She was a bit taken aback that Riverclan would be so bold to attack their patrol. She had heard about the growth of Riverclan and their demand for more land, but she hadn’t taken it seriously until this moment.

“You should get Crowheart to check out that paw.” Silvernight knew it was her that had stopped her before reaching the medicine cat. “If the other warriors have injuries like that, maybe this catchweed my tail managed to pick up might help him,” she said, not really remembering catchweed’s importance. She gave her fur a slight shake and padded into the medicine cats den, looking back to see if Echosong had followed.

Russetpaw grumbled as he washed mouse bile off of his paws in the lake. He was in a terrible mood, having just finished checking the elders for ticks. This task always left him feeling itchy; he was always worried that the ticks would jump from the elder’s fur onto his own. It also left his paws smelling vile, and the only way to clean them was to wash them in the lake which led to the next problem: sand. Russetpaw hated sand. He hated how it felt underneath his paws and how it stuck to his fur.

He vigorously scrubbed at his front paws, hoping to rid himself of the awful smell, while his back paws suck deeper into the soggy sand. “Fox dung,” he swore when he set his clean paws onto the sand which then decided to stick to his paws. It didn’t matter if he washed the sand off; he would only get more sand on them on his way back to camp. Instead he settled for dragging them through the grass though he would still end up with sand between his toes for the next few days.

Once he was back in camp he began looking around for his mentor, Echosong. He knew she had been on patrol, and wondered if she was back yet and had any more tasks for him to do. As he passed a group of huddled warriors he overheard that the patrol had been attacked by Riverclan. His fur bristling, Russetpaw hurried over the the medicine cats den to make sure his mentor was okay.

Crowheart's green-amber eyes rushed over the collection of assorted leaves, berries, stems, and flowers once more. Yes, everything seemed to be in order. Enough Marigold (provided that Mixedstar didn't see them), decent amount of cobwebs, borage leaves, catmint, chervil, comfrey root....no, no he was quite short on the comfrey. He silently prayed that the patrol that just recently went out wouldn't come back with any wounds, for he was quite low on what was used so often. Letting out a quiet sigh of concern, he stared out towards the entryway of his den. It was quite nice out today, no clouds in the sky, the sun was bright and warm. Maybe he would sit out for awhile in the light, rest his body and mind. He had felt so drained recently from all the attacks on groups that went out. What was wrong with RiverClan? Why couldn't things be solved with simple talking...the thought of the last meeting with all the clans surfaced in his mind again. He had only heard rumors, since he hadn't been present, but it hadn't gone so well. Even ShadowClan had been disappointed with the actions of the cats who lived by the water.

The thin grey cat was lost in thought, staring out at the entrance-way blankly, his eyes empty. The environment around him was completely silent, the only sound his light breathing, and the whispering of the vines writhing against eachother in the wind at the front of his den. It was then that he heard the low rumble of voices, the padding of paws against the earth outside. Was that the patrol, back already? Or maybe just some other cats outside. Crowheart turned his head away and glanced back at his organized piles. If it was the patrol back, maybe he could ask a few of them to accompany him on a journey to find some more supplies. Hurried now, for he had finally found something to do, he began to count the many herbs he had, his tail flicking along with each number he whispered under his breath. The voices outside were just a dull roar to him, he didn't catch any of the sounds of concern.

The sudden rustle of somecat entering his den made him jump, his tail stand straight up in the air in surprise. When noticing who it was, he relaxed slightly at the sight of her, sitting down. His long tail wrapped around his feet, he nodded his head briefly in greeting.

"Silvernight, what are you doing-" He was stopped mid-sentence with the arrival Echosong, following behind. Sniffing the air briefly, he noticed the scent of RiverClan and blood in the air. Eyes narrowing in concern, he turned immediately towards his collection of supplies, and grabbed the first necessary things. Cobwebs, to stop any bleeding, comfrey root to soothe the wound, and to keep the poultice in place, catchweed. Just gathering those few things, he already had his supplies diminished substantially. He silently hoped that no other cat was wounded severely, or else he'd run out completely.

Beginning to chew the roots into a sort of poultice, he glanced around the den, and then stood up. Moving forward past the two warriors, he pawed at the entryway and stepped out to see what was going on, nearly running into an approaching apprentice in the process. It was getting much too crowded in his den already, he felt as if he was suffocating. Letting out a strangled breath, he stepped back in, still unaware of what had happened, and spat the poultice out on a nearby dried leaf, then looked upwards to Silvernight.

"Go gather anyone else who was injured, please? I need some breathing space." His words sounded quite bitter, almost irritated, though it wasn't fully intentional. Crowheart looked downwards and suddenly noticed the few burrs caught in her fur. Stepping forward, he gently padded at her tail and pulled out a few, giving a sheepish toothy grin to her. How bothersome it must have been to constantly have things caught in that long fur. Though it was beautiful, he would never admit that to her, he was glad that his was much shorter.

Turning his attention to Echosong, he reached for shreds of cobweb with his claws.

"What happened?" He questioned. "Is everyone alright?"

Echosong heard Silvernight pronounce her sorrow at Mousepelt's passing, but she was lost in the thought of Mousepelt's body skidding to a halt in front of her. She was finally pulled back to reality as Silvernight spoke directly to her. "You should get Crowheart to check out that paw. If the other warriors have injuries like that, maybe this catchweed my tail managed to pick up might help him." Echosong nodded toward Silvernight with a gracious smile. "Of course," she spoke softly and followed the warrior into Crowheart's den.

As Echosong hobbled in after Silvernight, the medicine cat turned toward the pair. He began speaking to Silvernight before cutting off his sentence, realizing Echosong behind was her. The gray tom quickly began to gather the necessary supplies to tend to Echosong's wound and she tilted her head in wonder at the medicine cat. Chewing on an herb of sorts, Crowheart strolled past Echosong and Silvernight, out of the den.

She heard a rustling outside, but her senses were a bit jumbled by the sudden flurry of activity. Echosong's energy was beginning to drain and she was forced to sit heavily on her haunches, trying to keep her thoughts -that were beginning to roam and wander aimlessly- in check. As Crowheart came back into the den and spat out what he had been chewing, Echosong got a whiff of one of the cats outside. It was her apprentice, Russetpaw. Whether her apprentice had come looking for her or had come to help the other warriors, Echosong did not know. Whatever the case, Echosong still gave a grin of approval that he was here.

Crowheart looked over at Silvernight and said rather bitterly , "Go gather anyone else who was injured, please? I need some breathing space." The tone was cold, but Echosong knew that the medicine cat was just a bit frenzied by his lack of knowledge at the recent activities. He patted down Silvernight's long, beautiful tail, gathering whatever had been caught in it, and then gave her a grin before turning back to Echosong. In Echosong's jumbled stream of consciousness, she briefly thought of how she was envious of Silvernight's beauty. She was not jealous of the warrior. Echosong just found that she offhandedly wished that she was as tall and up-standing as the other warrior.

The energy and hype from the fight was wearing off even faster now and Echosong looked at the medicine cat as he began to shred the cobwebs he had produced from his pile of supplies. "It's jus' a scratch." Echosong said with as much strength as she could muster. To prove her point, she set the injured paw down on the ground, but was immediately proven wrong as she winced and pulled her front leg toward her body protectively. Realizing her mistake, Echosong extended her paw once more and decided to let Crowheart work his magic.

Her thoughts had begun to wander once again when she was brought back to earth as Crowheart asked about what had happened. Echosong nodded in acknowledgement of his question and opted to give the abridged version once again. "Riverclan attacked our patrol. We..." Echosong paused to gather her emotions before continuing, "We lost one. But most came away uninjured." Echosong chuckled bitterly, her tired mind keeping her from acting the way she normally would. "I was just one of the lucky ones, eh?" she spat out under her breath. It was a comment to herself, but there was no doubt that the others had heard the comment.

Before Silvernight could even explain anything to Crowheart he had already sprung into action gathering whatever things that medicine cats needed in order to mend the wounds of the warriors that came into him. She sat quietly and watched him as he began to make a police, as she was curious to see how he worked. Usually when she was in the medicine cats den it was because she was hurt or ill, and typically focused on her injury instead of the tom that was helping her. Crowheart was very quick and in a few moments he spat the poultice out and turned to her.

“Go gather anyone else who was injured, please? I need some breathing space.” He said quite harshly to her. Silvernight was taken aback for a second, surprised that he would be so blunt, but then she quickly reminded herself of the situation. She would be grumpy too if she had to chew up all of those herbs, placing a guess that none of them tasted pleasant. Still, she wasn’t used to having others being frustrated towards her.

Again, before she had a chance to say anything in response he moved forward and gently removed the catchweed that had latched onto her tail. She let out a little “oh” sound, and smiled back at him, immediately forgetting how irritated he had sounded with her earlier. “Thanks.” She shook her tail, happy to be free of the burrs. Silvernight gave Crowheart a little nod before slipping out of the medicine cat’s den, brushing past Echosong’s apprentice, Russetpaw.

Suddenly she remembered the prey that she and Heartfall had left behind, and knowing that Crowheart already felt a little crammed, she decided to direct Russetpaw away from the medicine cats den. “I need you to do something for me please,” she said to him, but his attention was still on his mentor. “She’ll be fine,” she looked over at Echosong. Though she was smaller, she was still an amazing warrior. Silvernight had seen her training before with Russetpaw and she had been surprised by the warrior’s skill. “Besides, Crowheart is looking after her.”

“I need you to go into the forest and bring back the prey that was left behind from hunting earlier.” She could already tell the apprentice was upset, the way his eyes went from looking expectant to looking annoyed. Russetpaw once again turned back to his mentor, checking to see with her if it was okay. He must have gotten some sign from her, or maybe decided for himself to do it, because he abruptly left, tail twitching.

Once she was outside the medicine cats den she began to think more about the task Crowheart had given her. Silvernight was fairly certain that the other warriors that may be injured were capable enough to make their way over to the medicine cats den by themselves, but still it made her feel useful. She gave her fur another shake, and set about looking around for any other warriors that were injured.

She could pick out the warriors that had been on the patrol that was attacked by Riverclan, they all that strange smell to them and looked ruffled. Some of them seemed like they had managed to escape without any serious injuries, and would most likely wait patiently for the ones who had worse injuries to be tended to.

When she came across Snaketail she wondered why the warrior hadn’t gone to the medicine cat’s den yet. His ear looked to be badly torn and he had many scratches on his side. The tom was a few moons older than her, and the two had never really gotten along, but he was a member of her clan so she went over to him.

“Let me help,” she offered, and nudged him up from where he was sitting. Normally he would say something rude and refuse her help, but he just bobbed his head absently and followed her to the den where he sat outside. He breathed heavily and looked pretty shaken, but when she looked closer at his wounds they didn’t seem as bad as they first appeared. He was more likely worked up over the fight than seriously hurt.

“Here you go,” she said into the entrance of the den, not wanting to enter it and get in trouble again for crowding the place.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Just as Russetpaw tried to enter the medicine cats den, Crowheart was trying to leave it. Flustered, he sat just at the outside of the den, peering in and catching the eye of his mentor, Echosong. It was hard to see how bad her injury was inside the den; he anxiously tried to scope it out but couldn’t catch sight of it. When he noticed her grin he felt a little better. If she was grinning it couldn’t be that bad, he thought to himself, could it?

Crowheart then hinted that it was getting crowded in there, and the last thing Russetpaw wanted to do was have the medicine cat mad at him. He still wanted to make sure his mentor was okay, but as he went to enter again, Silvernight made her way out. He could hear his mentor explaining to Crowheart about the attack, but he couldn’t quite make out the words.

Silvernight turned to him and said “I need you to do something for me please,”
Frustrated, he tried to look around her and find out what was going on, but Silvernight spoke up again, adding “She’ll be fine. Besides, Crowheart is looking after her.” Well, that was true; Thunderclan’s medicine cat seemed to have it all under control. He looked up at Silvernight, a little glad to be given something to do, he didn’t want to sit around and feel useless while there might be ways he would help.

That was until she said: “I need you to go into the forest and bring back the prey that was left behind from hunting earlier.” His ears turned back and his shoulders sagged a bit. Wow. What an important job. He hesitated before agreeing to the job, Silvernight wasn’t his mentor, Echosong was. He looked back at his mentor who was still talking with Crowheart. She would probably want him to help out the clan, even if it was a crummy job. He nodded to himself and turned on his heels, heading off towards the forest.

New warriors were always bossy. They always were finding excuses to rub it in the apprentices faces that they were ranked higher than them. It was easy to find where the prey was left, he followed the scent trail of Silvernight and Heartfall, and soon found places on the forest floor where the dirt was disturbed. He brushed away the churned dirt and bent down, retrieving the small animals in his mouth. They were still slightly warm, but covered in earth so he gave his head a shake and sent dirt flying.

While carrying them back to camp he realized how delicious they smelt, and his stomach grumbled loudly. He set the animals on the fresh kill pile and quickly looked around to see if anyone heard him. There were a few warriors around, but they weren't paying attention to him. Sighing, he lay outside of the apprentices den and closed his eyes.
