Warriors of a World

Warriors of a World

Warriors from every country in the island continent of Dalaris gather together in times of peace to share their knowledge and work to keep the peace going as long as possible.

Introduction

Hello everyone and Welcome! Here's a bit about Dalaris:

It's actually two continents, one smaller than the other, with a total of six countries and dozens of different cultures. I am limiting this roleplay to four players, so obviously not all of these are going to be used, but multiple characters are encouraged.

Regarding technology: I don't mind computers, or machines, but there will be no modern weapons. Blades, staffs, magic, hand-to-hand, anything but guns. Also, on the island, there is no internet, cable, or any connectivity with the outside world. There are two televisions, and they are only set up for movies. There is electricity, but only inside the house, and there are no motorized boats allowed on the island. Of course, there is indoor plumbing, so I'm not sending everyone back to the pioneer days, but please respect these limits on technology, and remember that batteries DO run out.

The situation:

Dalaris has endured generations of war and has finally settled. This new peace, however, is tenuous. Countries and cultures were so segregated, so set against each other, that treaties and agreements have been difficult to maintain. To keep war from breaking out again, the leaders of each country have decided to send their top people from each major field: Education, Engineering/Construction, Merchant, Magic, and Military. The purpose is to promote understanding. No one in these groups are allowed to kill each other, or leave their assigned places unless an emergency requires their specialty.

Each group is sent to the central island, and a house is assigned to each group. The houses are spread apart, and it is a large island, but by no means is one group prevented from encountering another.

This RP is focused on the Military group, where highly skilled fighters were chosen from different disciplines. There will be four players, multiple characters are encouraged, but each character must be approved separately.

ADDED NOTE: If one player has two separate characters that are in different places, the player can choose to post those characters separately.

Your Character Sheet:

Name of Country: (You don't need to know everything about it yet, just the name and a short synopsis)
Name of Character: (Make it pronounceable. This can be a nickname, or a tag if your character likes to be mysterious.)
Physical Description: (No pictures please. If it helps you keep things straight, keep a picture in your own files)
Personality: (This is not to be used IC by anyone. It is purely so that I can understand if your character has enough to them.)
Weapon of Choice: (No modern weapons unless approved)
Other weapons:
General Demeanor: (How does your character move based on his/her fighting style. Quick and bouncy, slow and purposeful? Give a little detail here.)
Other Hobbies and Interests: (This can be knitting, fishing, philosophy, whatever. People are more than just their occupation.)
Background: (Again, not to be used IC unless you reveal it IC. Just need to know it’s being thought through.)

Background is changeable. As characters develop, you may find that something in their background doesn’t work, or needs tweaked a little bit. Please edit your character information when this happens.
Personality can be added to, but once something’s on there, please don’t take it off unless you really need to.
Weapons, even Weapons of Choice (WOC), can be changed. As your warrior encounters different styles and weapons, he/she may find one more suited to him/her. The same goes with the way your character moves. If you’re learning a new discipline of fighting, or your character behaves differently once they’re familiar with the situation, etc. For Weapons and movement, don’t delete this information from your profile. Just underline it, put it in parentheses, or otherwise let us know it’s old before adding the new information in normal font.

Add specifications to your character sheet if you want to, and submit! Once accepted, the only real thing to do is have fun an keep it real!

Toggle Rules

1) Okay, and this one should be obvious: NO GODMODDING.

2) I am going to take rule number one a step further. This is a roleplay involving experienced warriors, fighters of every nation. However: I do not allow guns or any weapon that requires gunpowder, explosives, or modern technology. Blades of any kind, psychic powers (be reasonable), hand-to-hand combat, blunt weapons, etc. are allowed. If you have any questions, PM me. You should get a response fairly quickly.

3) Your character cannot be unbeatable. I don't require that you post your character's weaknesses in the profile, but you will have to know them or figure them out as your character develops.

4) I reserve the right to ban anyone from this roleplay. The only reasons I will do this are:
1, Attacking other players Out Of Character (OOC)
2, continuously breaking the first three rules, which all say the same thing,
3, if you don't post for a long time, you will be given the boot. If you know you won't be able to return, either make your character go somewhere or post it in the OOC to let us know. If your character is in the middle of the action, you MUST take him/her out of it before an absence, otherwise everyone else will have to ignore your character, which doesn't work well for the overall roleplay. There are only going to be three of us, so we might be able to put the RP on pause, but if it's paused too long because of one person that person will be asked to leave. Again, sorry, but I'm not letting the RP die because one person stopped. If this happens, I will kill off, remove, or take over that player's characters and look for a new player.
and 3, Since this is a character driven roleplay, I do get frustrated with people that can't keep their characters straight. I understand that new ideas come and ideas are revised, but once you decide your character is a grumpy, black-haired man that wields a short sword and hates psychics, he stays a grumpy, black-haired man that wields a short sword and hates psychics. This can only be changed through some event that happens In Character (IC).

Of course, if you're getting close to pushing one of these buttons, I will let you know far in advance.

5) The main purpose of this roleplay is a character building exercise. There isn't really any big bad guy to defeat. There isn't a specific plotline, just a backstory and we work from there. Plot will develop as our characters interact, any World problems will be added later.

6) Not really a rule, just saying that I'm not a babysitter. I expect everyone to behave, and if there are any issues between players, only come to me if you've already tried working it out between yourselves.

7) Metagaming is encouraged. If you want your character to have met another beforehand, contact that player OOC or with a PM and work it out. With people, there are always clicks and groups that grow together, people who have met before (sometimes under less than ideal circumstances) and sparks/intrigue does fly around. If you want to plot with one player to prank another, or work out a plan for chores. I would like to be notified if anyone is planning any drastic decisions, such as creating a main villain, altering the World circumstances, big things like that.

8) Make a note or something that this RP will be played according the the schedules of the players. So far, it looks like weekends are good. I'll change this if weekdays open up.

9) On Post Length: Keep it descriptive. I don't like to see one-liners unless there's a lot of dialogue and you have to wait for another character to respond.

10) Please, and I mean PLEASE, send me a PM if I break any of my own rules. Write it in all caps, underlined and bold. And don't hesitate to PM me or post in the OOC about metagaming, questions on the RP, or just to ask what the hell's going on.

"Takes them into himself?" Rashad's eyes were full of disgust at the mere thought of another creature that was able to contain beings within his own essence. He tried to run everything through his own mind as he thought hard and long on how taking another essence would help Cain. The one power this child had that would be worthy to the dark man would be the ability to copy other's powers by merely watching them use it once. "He would be impossible to stop at that point," Rashad blurted out. Anya just shook her head in agreement before glancing over at Sarka. Something was wrong, she noticed, her eyes were not as deep as the night sky, instead they were starting to be more of a twilight like midnight and crimson were fighting to keep the color of the eyes.

"Sarka?" she questioned and the girl just turned her head slowly to the woman. "Are you alright? I know you are a fae, but do your eyes tend to change?" Soon the red filtered away from the girls eyes and she smiled.

"At times... were they turning white?" she wondered. It was the color of her visions that typically turned her eyes to a complete white instead of her unnaturally dark blue eyes. Anya shook her head. "Hmm. I dunno what it could have been then." She stated then stretched out her arms. "So," she turned to Keizer. "He wants to trap m... her within his own body? That is interesting." She said, before sitting back away from Keizer, still within his reach, but without him touching her.

Keizer Shosolas

Keizer could feel his mind twitch for a moment as he began to register something strange about the situation he was in.

He couldn't help but wonder how he let this situation arise that a plan was totally and wholly in the able and twisted hands of Cain. The one being if who had an inclination to would more then willingly destroy this island and execute everyone on it if he had the reason to.
He just looks down at the others.. "I think we should just get going before everything gets too tense and he decides to change the plan on us, since he will be doing such an incantation I do believe I know where he will be heading."
Keizer takes a few steps off to the side and exits the door leading outside glancing around several times before breaking off into a run that leads off in Cains general direction.

Pale blue eyes flickered over the surroundings nearest her as the young woman blended into the dappled shade cloaking her movements. Pale skin seemed to shimmer with every movement of her flesh. Strands of the palest gold fell across her back and poured down her shoulders to cascade past her bent knees, glimmering in the rays shining down upon her. Tilting her head slightly, Jaquellyn worried her bottom lip with a small, albeit feminine fang.
"What are they doing," she quietly wondered aloud, her voice drifting on the air with a lethally seductive quality to it. Her hand reached up and slowly brushed her hair from her face, her claws glancing across her fae-like ears. Light seemed to be absorbed as it hit her high-riding shorts, and sleeveless corset-like top. Black as sin, the material reflected no light, and made no sound with her movements. She wore high laced boots, the soles thin but textured for grip and less noise. Slung across her waist lay a thin band of silk, the items on it hidden by her long grey cloak.
Closing her eyes, her lashes fanning out across her pale cheekbones, the woman sniffed the air delicately. After arriving, Jaquellyn had immediately taken to the trees, worried about the vestiges of magic lingering in the air.
Her country had not wanted to send her, it's profits raising with the thought of war. But wisely, a male had simply stated that it was a farce, to just cause incident between the countries and find their strongest links to break. Chuckling, her employer had pushed her forward. His grin was met with the statement of, "I only employ the best. So she shall be our ambassador warrior. "
Shaking her head, she breathed deep. Magic, both protective and dangerous littered the air. Along with blood and the scent of the earth. How strange. Another breath. More soil, charred wood, smoke... Sulfer? Eyes shooting open, the assassin hissed, her fangs sharpening as she growled low in her throat and backed up. Demon. No, correction. Demons.
"They send their kind here? Monsters. "
Her voice dropped low as she glared. Leaping from the branch, she walked into the busted establishment through the hole in the wall and found a bottle of wine to sip from. Leaning against a broken beam that lay, Jaquellyn hid her ears once more, and gently ran her claws across the lip of the bottle.

Just as Keizer left the room Sarka's body went into one of her visions. She saw a woman who glittered like the sun, and had clothes on that would keep her silent from those in the who had heightened senses. After a few seconds the fae turned to Anya and whispered slowly what she had seen, this way she would not alert anyone else in the room whom she had not completely put trust in quite yet. The demonic-elf took in a deep breath to take in the scents around the islands. She took could only smell the magics in the air, which made it hard to pin point anyone's location, even those who were closest to her. She could smell her demonic-drago brother with ease, since their smells were so close to that of the sulfer of the demonic with a hint of something more. But if she wanted to locate someone with a scent she was unfamiliar with she would have difficulty with all that had been done with magic.

Magic was a very easy way to hide scents, as far as Anya was concerned. Each ability had its own smell, and with the battle that had taken place not even more than half a day ago, it would still be fresh in the winds of the island. "She won't be able to find us very easily either..." Anya stated, taking in all the smells of the island. "Magic is everywhere, but if she is part of the ambassadors she would have been given directions to this cabin. I don't think we have to worry about her," Anya responded to the concerned fae.

Sarka's midnight blue eyes stared at the tall dark-haired woman with a frown on her face. As far as the foresight went, she knew that all the ambassadors were already gathered on this island with a threat roaming around them. This new woman was an addition that was not originally part of the group that was suppose to be with them, but she could not argue with Anya. If the countries decided that another ambassador was needed then there was nothing that the group could do. "Do you know where she is?" Rashad asked, taking in the sight of the discomfort the fae showed.

"Yes," she said softly before turning toward the door that Keizer had run through. "The trees have already given me her location. If only they could give me Elyshia's location." She whispered, knowing that she should have followed after the larger man. "Excuse me..." she moved toward the door and then used the nature around her to pinpoint the larger man's location before following after him. Her ability to float over the earth helped her catch up to him quickly and soon she was on his shoulder. "Keizie," she said softly. "You don't think that Cain is going to try and use his magic against us as well as Elyshia."

Rashad sighed when the young woman darted off out the door after Keizer. "She really is bonded to him," he stated, taking in his sister's disgruntled look. "What is wrong?" he asked softly.

"You've got a dragon that can sniff past the magic, don't you?" she asked him. He nodded, knowing exactly what she was asking. Lifting his pants leg a bit he summoned the dragon that was wrapped around his ankle. It was very small, much like a fairy. It took only a few moments before it fluttered into the air and sped away to find its target. Within a matter of minutes the dragon was on a branch before Jaquellyn.

Once Jaquellyn entered the house, River moved to the other side of the house, glancing at the tiny dragon just outside the window of the rear kitchen. He didn't operate by scent this time. When she'd moved the bottle of wine, his sense of liquids had gone off. He could only tell direction, though, and slowly he weeded out the other rooms and slipped into the back kitchen. Rory had moved to this room, repairing another hole in the wall the group hadn't been able to see, but the minor mage was in trance, not paying any attention at all to anything but fixing the broken house.

With a roll of his eyes, River crouched behind one of the large counters that ran passed the door and slipped on silent, socked feet to peer around. He came up behind Jaquellyn in this way, and just for fun, used very subtle elemental energy to stir the wine around, increasing its potency a little.

"That's a good one," he said as a spiral of the pretty golden liquid lifted out of the bottle around her claws. Since it wasn't a magical ability, but sheer force of training, he used his speed to move like a ghost to the other entryway of the room, steering the wine spiral towards the window where the dragon was looking in from.
--------------------------------------------------

Valium nodded, then paused, looking around. "Where is the River?"

Narik'ta frowned at the vampire, then looked around himself, tongue swiping across his lips. But he, too, could sense nothing through the haze of magic that flooded the area. "I know not," he said, and Valium ground his fangs together.

Pale eyes looking towards the male hidden from her, Jaquellyn allowed her hand to fall, her cold eyes moving as he dashed to the other side of the room. How strange. Her eyes watched the wine that flew now, and widened as her trained vision caught a slight movement in the branches outside. A... A fairy? No. This had scales.
Refusing to allow herself to smile in slight pleasure at the beautiful creature, she looked away, moving away from it's line of sight.

Assessing the occupant of the room, who seemingly attempted to sneak up on an assassin, she sighed. "My home's is much better. Not as flowery as this-" she motioned the bottle toward him, her voice a lethal sound, laced with beauty. "But yes, in standards such as normal individuals', it seems good."

Placing the bottle back on the counter, she flicked out her claws and began to pull her gloves from a pocket, the sound of finely tanned leather creaking in the air. A tangy sweet scent lit the room as she began to clean her claws on a cloth she found. Can't have poison so readily available, nor warn people of her deadly weapon.

"I'm afraid I do not know where I'll be dwelling for my stay. Would you show me," she asked, addressing River with cold, calculating eyes. "And, if I may be so bold as to ask, what happened here?" she motioned her hand towards the busted wood splintering the floors and wall.

As she listened to him, Jaquellyn finally gave in to the urge to see the dragon. Opening the window, she stretched towards the creature, curiosity sparking in her eyes.

River blinked. She hadn't been surprised, and unless she could have seen through walls, she couldn't have watched him running so quietly through the halls to the other doorway. Now, he was behind the wall, so he knew sight was unlikely, but there were other senses. She could have heard him even though his footfalls were just as silent as hers. Still, she talked as if his playing with the wine and his voice coming from the other side of the room was nothing.

"How odd," he said, still sitting with the wall between himself and her. The wine circled her claws, washing away some of the poison with one of her swipes of the cloth.

River took the same circuitous route in reverse, slipping through what would have been called the servants halls, back to the first doorway, as the wine ran along the floor, growing into a smaller and smaller puddle and running beneath the counters. He stayed in the hallway, out of sight, and held up a bottle for the wine to flow into. His lips quirked as the liquid ran up his clothes and down his arm, closing his eyes to keep from laughing as it tickled his sides, and the liquid and all of its contents flowed into the bottle, which he tucked into his clothes somewhere.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Valium sighed and left the room, seeming to have a unique sense of where River was located, found his way to the other kitchen just as the smaller man was tucking the bottle away. His brown eyes twinkled mischievously at the vampire.

"Well, your guide is just outside here," he said, and then jumped up to the back stair railing, vaulting over it and landing softly on the steps, then darting quickly upstairs, careful to keep his footsteps silent and avoid squeaky boards.

The vampire sighed and closed his eyes. "A river into a babbling brook. Truly a reverse evolution." He stepped into the kitchen, not bothering to hide, and looked at the woman wiping her claws. "Good afternoon. I am Valium, representative of Aralissya," he said, left fist touching his abdomen as a type of salute.

Keizer Shosolas

Keizer's feet padded away at the growth underneath as he made way through the forest towards Cains destination, his mind was at constant motion with the ideas that even that demon could think up. He was thinking so hard in fact that he was barely conscious of the event where Sarka made her landing on his shoulder like she always did and the impact was almost unregistered by him.
But he was quick to realize who was so easy on the ideal of such personal contact as he looked up over the edge of her leg and gave a reassured look back to her eyes.

"You don't think that Cain is going to try and use his magic against us as well as Elyshia?"
He question rang true in his ears as he kept his attention straight ahead and dodged what sections of foliage would slow of impede them. He could not help but clench his teeth for a moment before speaking.."I would not put it past him, seeing as I have been on the receiving end of his wrath once before." his mind flashed with old memories of after the war originally ended and he was put to judgement. "But what still bothers me is the idea of him gaining control of her.. because he does not want to just consume her. I think that what he really wants is the knowledge contained inside her head, being what she is he could gain some insight or another with what she knows added to his mind."

He eyes pause for a moment when his sight comes to a small gorge overlapping the landscape before him and he contemplates going around until he plainly decides to just jump the edge and fall the forty or so feet that compromised its height.
Lightly clenching Sarka with his right hand he reaches out with his left and deftly grabs the side of one of the overhanging trees. Doing so allowed him to adjust their landing and continue with his full sprint, the only moment he had to alter his step once more was to go around a large honey tree and bolt up the oncoming hill side.
As Keizer nears the tree line he can see that something has changed with the surrounding area, but not knowing what he is still on site to move closer. Bringing Sarka and himself to a lower profile he reaches the very edge and peers out from within cover.

His eyes looked across the area and as he did so a faint clenching could be felt in the deeper sections of his gut and he spoke quietly but clearly to his companion. "Back home this place is referred too as the dark water fields, but looking its hard to believe that over twenty thousand people lost their lives here. Its that power that Cain is betting on to give him the upper hand seeing as how he can feed from the pain and misery of the dead..." his eyes froze on a familiar form sitting somewhat hunched on a high outcropping near the edge of the field.
He made a slight gesture outwards and directed Sarka's vision to the same area.

*There Cain sat with his box in hand wringing his fingers around the top and edges, speaking to it softly.
If one could hear him it would sound somewhat akin to that of a lullaby and the box itself responded with an audible hum of its own.*

Keizer could tell at that moment what Cain was doing and was quick to pull himself and Sarka away far as possible without loosing view. The only action that would cause her pause was him putting a hand over her mouth as if to stifle her mouth to which he only added.. "This is for your own good Sarka but I would be more grateful if you didn't watch."

*As Cain's singing continues the box continues to pulsate with a dark ominous energy and soon the radiating power begins to solidify into a dark inky essence much like Cain's own energy. However the box turns on itself and cracks in four places and releases a thick black ooze from the breaches.
The dark glow of the box ceases and a large gout of thick black ooze bubbles from the side quickly growing in size and bursting in quick succession. Where it possible for nature itself to become disgusted at certain sites it would most certainly be reeling at the abomination taking place.
The bubble of black ink burst revealing the form of a small child no more then thirteen years of age and she writhed as her body fell limply from the small fall. But soon she began to rise from the ground at Cain's feet and it was easy to see that whatever she was now, that she stopped being a child or human a long time ago.
Her form was mostly unclothed save for several straps of cloth clasped over her in sparse areas, but worst of all was the patchwork sections of skin that compromised her form and that even to that aspect there where sections that didn't even have skin at all. This was evident by the look that the left side of her mouth and cheek where stripped down to sinew and muscle. Cain approached the little creature from behind and grasped across the front of her neck with his hand and bent over to lay a kiss atop her bald scalp, his hand jingled with a rather large choker that dangle around her small neck only to give her a rather devastating kick in the small of her back causing her to fall to the ground below. Her little body breaks into several sections on impact and lays there as the black ooze continues to pour out of her.*

The small dragon, just the size of a small fairy, opened his wings which glittered in the sun a beautiful rainbow of colors over his white scales. His blue eyes stared up at her from the small branches as she noticed him. It was not often that someone would notice something so small, but this dragon, with its wide range of colors often caught even the blindest of eyes. He opened his mouth and made a small sound much like a chime, and shuffled his scales and wings to relax enough to take flight. Soon he was squeezing through the a whole in the cracking walls and planted himself right on the newcomer's shoulder. It chimed again as if signaling that he had found the woman Anya could not sniff out, but quickly snuggled his small thumb sized snout into the woman's neck laying upon her shoulder.

Rashad, the auburn haired man, and Anya, his darker-haired sister, found their way through the house back to the main room the woman stood within. They spotted Rory working on the wall near the rear of the room and Valium asking the woman questions. Neither of them seemed to think it appropriate to say a word since the woman had another visitor. It would be rude to bombard her on her first day to the island. Instead, Anya whispered to her brother about trying to locate Keizer and Cain before something terrible happened to the island in their hands. Rashad answered with a nod and gave her a look that said he would stay within the confines of the house to keep an eye on the others along with the newcomer to gather information. Then again, his little snow dragon was being quite stubborn and refused to return to his home about the Drago's ankle.

~*~*~*~*~

Keizer seemed distracted, even with the soft landing on his shoulder, Sarka could sense that the man was still contemplating the events that have spiraled into action. He replied to her question, which confirmed her fear plainly. Cain may turn against the island, using the new woman to either capture the others or take them to gain more power. He surely was the demon of demons. Her focus was on the forest, often a tree would move out of Keizer's way with her own power to keep him going forward, but she had never anticipated all the drastic moves the man was willing to go through to reach the demon. Soon they were falling forty feet and the young fae almost lost her voice on the way down. Instead she closed her eyes and kept quiet. This was more of a safety measure in case the demon was close by.

Soon they came to a halt, and Keizer pointed out the demon who was kneeling over a box and singing a lullaby that pulled at the fae's heart. Though it didn't only pull to her, but it pulled at something else as well. Her eyes began to turn red when she felt herself moving further away from the demon. A large hand came around her mouth and something told her she shouldn't watch the scenes that were about to unfold around her. "What.... is... that?" Sarka turned her eyes to Keizer. The fae had not listened to him, she had watched and something in Cain's voice and the hum of the box was pulling at them both, trying to make her come to them.

Sighing, she remember she hadn't dulled her senses. The male's heartbeat had given him away, so she assumed it was fine to speak to him. Once again, she was wrong. Movig away from the window, she looked at the creature who had just stepped into the same room with her and froze. Flashing her fangs at him in a mock smile, she leaned back and crossed her arms. "Hello, then. You're the first to truly speak to me face to face. I thank you."

Stepping forward, she circled him intently, looking him over. "Surprized to see your kind here," she murmured, her voice dull and emotionless. In her mind she was just stating a fact, one that bore no bias towards or against him. Stopping, she face him once more and placed two fingers on her lips, bowing. "I am The ambassador of whisteria, " she said, naming the small country of assassins and mercenaries. "May name is Jaquellyn."

Backing off, she sniffed the air again, as if to find where everyone was. "Why is the magic so heavy here," she growled, eyes flashing with annoyance. She couldn't get a read on anything.

Pulling out one of her knives from around he waist, she leaned back against the counter and cleaned a nail, trying to find the boy who had bothered her earlier. The wine puddle had disappeared, so she assumed he took it. Hopefully he hadn't brushed her gauntlet, or else he may be in for a he'll of a surprise. Looking up, her blue eyes searched the male before her, finally resting on his gaze. "do you know who it was who attempted to startle me earlier?" she sighed. "I hope I didn't scare him off"

Valium waited patiently as she circled him, knowing that though she seemed dangerous, he would be quite difficult to kill. "There has been a disturbance on the island from a difficult little mocking bird," he said, referring to what an Aralyssian would call a magic user who copied others' abilities. "She has left for now, and a few of the ambassadors have decided to take care of her. I would avoid the being Cain for now. He seems to want to start a new war or trap us all, whichever comes first." His lips quirked at the mention of River.

"River has a... an odd sense of humor. You heard his heartbeat, I assume. It is fairly loud for one so small." An odd feeling entered his eyes, like a tiger contemplating its meal, as he thought of the shifter. "I doubt anything could scare him off," he said, one eyebrow going up. "He is very much a feline, going where and when he pleases. Ignore him or play with him, those are the two options that work best. I do not advise getting serious." He tilted his head slightly. "Whisteria. On behalf of the council, I apologize. Had they known your nation was interested in peace I am sure they would have issued an invitation sooner." Just as she'd done, Valium's voice held no judgement, no bias. Just simple, impersonal logic.
-------------------

Narik'ta moved over toward Salvia, who glared at him and shifted the grip she had on her staff. He looked at it and his lips quirked. "Fast enough, you are not," he said, then switched to their own language. Not to hide it from the others, because it was entirely possible some of them had learned, but because it was far easier than speaking this odd common tongue. "I believe it would be safest to leave here now. The foes we face are far beyond our abilities."

"You honorless bastard," Salvia said, staff swirling in a blinding wave of speed straight for his head. His hand moved just as fast and caught it.

"You and I know well, what I am, and now is the time to lay quietly in the grass and wait for the prey to pass our lips. This woman cannot replicate genetics, but this Cain can trap us all and use our powers as he sees fit. It. Is time. To leave."

Salvia stared at him, her dislike for the man clear, but she relented, lowering her staff and switching back to the language everyone else was speaking. "We will head for safer territory," she told the remaining people. "One on one, we could handle each other, but this woman seems to bring us all together into one being, and that is too much for one body." Without further preamble, she followed Narik'ta out of the house. They both vanished into the woods, she into the trees, he into the undergrowth that littered the forest floor.
---------------------------------------------

Just as Valium finished speaking, River walked by the kitchen doorway again and he snatched the cat's collar, pulling him into the room so Jaquellyn could get a good look at him. "You were rude, cat," he said as River slipped out of his jacket with an ease that made it seem like he'd turned to goo.

He paused, standing up fully, and looked back and forth between the two. "You are Valium," he said, then turned to her, "You are Jaquellyn, and I am River. It's not that hard..." He paused, seeming distracted by some sound, but there were no unusual sounds to be heard nearby.

"Has the moon risen so early?" Valium asked, raising the jacket to his lips where a small drop of blood stained the collar. River whisked it out of his hands, an absently annoyed look on his face, then he registered what the vampire had just said.

"It has," River mused, breaking into a soft smile and looking through the northeastern wall as if he could see through both it and the forest to the waxing crescent that was just now emerging on the horizon. Then he blinked. "Oh, sorry. Whisteria, right. That was rude to you. I apologize."

As she listened to the vampire before her, Jaquellyn absentmindedly pet the shimmering being on her shoulder, her eyes blank as she took in his words. So, a mimic had made her way here. And endangered these people. Interesting, she purred in her mind. Maybe she could have a little fun here.

Leaning onto her arm, Jaquellyn nodded. "No need to apologize. Their decision Surprized even themselves. We do make our money off of your wars, you see. " shaking her head, she looked over at the lair that had entered. She gave a nod, and turned back to Valium. "It must have been unusual to have someone else enter the island," she stated, gently coaxing the little dragon from her shoulder into her hand.

Laughter flitted through her eyes as she held it, her fingers brushing overs its fair scaled body as it refused. Has an attitude to match mine, she thought gently. As River stepped inside, she looked him over, curiosity getting the best of her. What he was, she didn't truly know as of yet. But his movements were so smooth, slipping away with the fluidity of water, and yet distracted, his gaze jerking from place to place.

Nodding, she resisted the urge to study him. Very rarely did she meet individuals as confusing as these two. And they seemed to be friends? Curiosity spiking, she shook her head. "Thank you for your apology. And because of it, I now feel compelled to do this." She stepped closer, looking him over, attempting to catch a scent on him. "That wine, the amount you used to steal my poison, dump it." Her eyes flashed. "It is beyond dangerous, and corrosive."

She never warned, Jackie mused slightly. So why now?

Keizer Shosolas

Keizer kept his arm snug around Sarka as they both looked on at one of the many horrors that Cain was capable of producing and worst for him was that she was more interested it in the more she wathced.
Keizer dipped his eyes down to look at her and gave a sorrowful gaze before answering.. "That would be Pessha judging by how he pulled her out of his box, but it has been some years since I last laid eyes on her and it seems he has made some changes." Keizer pointed it with a small gesture of his hand.
But as if on a twitch command the body of that creature began to stir and some the pieces where moving about at their own accord and actively searching for the rest of itself. The stringy ooze began to feel its way outward and make contact with each section only to pull it back into place and the little creature once again stood after gathering itself.

Keizer leans it slightly as he looks the Pessha over once more and denotes again to Sarka.."He must be expecting something soon because she is meant for heavy fighting, her form alone is cause for worry. But the worst of all is that she attacks and eats through the substance creeping out from within herself."
Keizer goes quiet for some time as the two stare on at the happenings within the field, something is weighing heavily on his mind as he looks on and remembers the past.

"Very unusual," Valium agreed. "The mage's house has been lax in reinforcing the shieldings around the island, it seems."

Then the woman leaned forward toward River and gave the warning, and he blinked, focusing completely like someone had flipped a switch. There was something moving behind his eyes. More than one something, and golden streaks lit his brown eyes, quickly joined by more the color of dark water. Brown, gold and blue-green evenly spaced throughout his iris. "Oh, I know," he said, a slight smile on his face. "Meant to dissolve the flesh and bones of anyone you strike with it." He tilted his head. "It won't get through my bottle though..." A frown replaced the smile and he was distracted again, looking up to Valium. "Oh! That bottle the tribal lady had."

"Salvia," Valium said patiently, a little surprised that River was still standing so close to him.

"Salvia," he nodded. "She had one of the bottles I made, that's why it seemed so familiar. How did she get it though..." He touched his finger to his lips. "I haven't made any of those for a long time." A glance to Jackie. "Well, before today. I had to make another because that stuff ate through the glass. Almost ruined my shirt, you know. But it's liquid, and I can usually work with those. I'm water bound. Did you know the human body is--"

Valium put a hand over River's mouth and sighed. The smaller man just looked up to him, blinking, then walked around the counter. "I'm getting a cookie." He pulled a tin out of the cabinet and opened it, holding out one of the delicacies to Jackie. "Want one?"

"You had coffee again, didn't you?" Valium asked, frown warring with a smile on his lips, and that odd hungry look coming back into his eyes.

"Yup," River said, still holding out the cookie.

Blinking in surprise, Jaquellyn watched River. "Cookie?" she asked, confused. She never was one to try new things, nor eat food another has handled, and shook her head. "Never had them, don't think I will now. "

His eyes had changed, she thought to herself as she flicked her thumb claw against her forefinger's. What was he, she wondered. Neve one to like the unknown, Jackie distanced herself from the boy a bit. While entertaining to hear him ramble, caution was best used with this one. He knew on her poison, had attempted to sneak up on her to steal some, and was now offering her food. Not really the best idea.

Stepping to Valium a bit, she slowly looked him over before saying, "Are all of these people here as unusual as you two? If so... I may just find a pair of earplugs and just go about my business. " quirking her lips up in a small smile, she sighed. "I had expected fighting when I came here. Not a boy offering me a... Cookie?" she looked back over, as if to reassure that the word was correct. "In regards to the mimic, what does it want?"

To have stepped into a basic warzone unknowing of what to expect, Jackie had a large need to find out exactly how to fight it. "How many people has she fought so far, and what abilities does it have. Or do you know of them?"

Absentmindedly, she fingered her blades beneath her cloak, the feel of metal in her hands calming her.

As if an after thought, she looked at river. "If coffee makes you this... Energized, maybe if you see her again you should drink a full pot. "

"I wouldn't advise it," Anya's voice filed into the room as she rounded the corner becoming a visual point for Jackie. "One cup is enough, and we aren't all so... unusual as to make your head spin," her hands filed through the very long black hair she had as she spotted the little white dragon on Jaquellyn's shoulder. Of course that was where the little thing had gone to. Her brother stepped into the room with his fiery hair and multiple dragon tattoos wrapping around his flesh in many colors. Each had a different length and width to them.

The shimmering white dragon let out a small puff of smoke before flying away from the woman and wrapping itself around the fiery-man's ankle. Anya took in a deep sigh as she easily lifted herself up onto the counter top with cat like grace and sat their peacefully. "The mimic, as seem to be calling her, has an unknown motive. Our main cause is to stop her for what it is worth." The creamy-skinned woman stretched out her long arms and glanced over at the man who was still holding out his cookie before returning them to Jaquellyn. "By the way welcome, Whisterian. I'm Anya and this is my brother Rashad and we come from Nijole."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The fae listened intently to the larger man's words. Then she returned her gaze to the grotesque being known as Pessha before Cain. "I won't be able to mimic that..." her voice was a whisper, her eyes widely watching the demon and his new pet. Her head still felt very fuzzy with the hum of Cain's voice. Her mind continue to race as she tried to figure out what the thing was entirely, but it was just too disturbing to stare at. Instead she felt her body slightly swaying to the demon's voice and she took a large step forward.

Keizer Shosolas

The sudden movement from Keizer's companion was enough to garnish the attention of the creature in the base of the field. Pessha was quick to straighten her gaze upon the section of woods that the two lay behind and she continued to align herself as if a cat ready to pounce on its prey.
Keizer could see what was happening and his body began to tense next to Sarka's.. "We are about to have a serious problem."
Pessha was all too willing to oblige this instigation as her whole form lurched back and she settled on the calves of her legs her thin vacant face fixates on them through the leafs on the branches and she begins to opens her mouth and a deep noise begins to echo out from within her throat. A squelching noise keeps sliding out from within her as something begins to work its way out from within and the sudden movement distorts her throat as the obstruction moves.
Fingers begin to creep out from between her lips as a long arm begins to wriggle from within her only stopping as its elbow reaches her teeth.

"Queens graces.." Keizer voices as he and Sarka stare on, awaiting what might happen next "He has changed her so much since last I looked upon her."
Pessha moves as the arm fully exposes itself to the world around, a long thin blackened limb that oozes with the same substances as her own form. But her eyes roll back and her cheeks bulge as a vast quantity of the black liquid surges forth and burst free of her face moving as if a large wave towards the two.

Keizer watches as the mass begins to flow their way in what looks to be a massive surge of oil, and he is quick to wrap one arm around Sarka's waste. Jumping as the dark liquid crashes into their last position just after he had jumped away with Sarka in tow. Their fight through the air was sudden and fast as he adjusted himself to land on the top perch of a large tree, all the while he looked on at Pessha and the arm protruding from her face was all the while pointing at the two of them as if in constant accusation.
He looks down only to see that the black ooze has started to work its way up the trunk of the tree.

Cain all the while was quick to notice this all transpire and was eager to see what would happen as he was willing to let Pessha have some fun as well.

Sarka was startled when Keizer's arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her up into the air. Soon they were on a branch, and she watched the black oil form beneath then until it started to ascend up the bark in their general direction. The fae then brought her midnight gaze up to spot the dis-configured creature the demon summoned. "Interesting," her voice came out, but not as its usual bell chimes. Her mind began to search for something, "what trick does she have in here for me to use?" This was when it slipped, the once chiming bell tone that was Sarka's came out dark and almost robotic as she scanned the area. Soon her hands wrapped around Keizer's arms and she did a cartwheel up to his shoulder.

With this trick, the tree began to move about and wrapped around the larger man until it had him almost completely confined. "Sorry Keizie..." she whispered, not at all sympathetic. With that she took to the sky and was soon standing only feet away from both the demon and his creation. Her eyes scanned the area as she saw some of the moves the creature and her master would do before hand due to Sarka's lovely foresight. This kept her just a small step ahead of the man and the demonic woman named Pessha.

Cain Ashenrov

When the little woman made her landing no more then five feet from him, Cain stared at her with a grinning smile and a lavished tongue sliding between his teeth.
The long black organ pulls back into his mouth as he begins to speak.. ~So nice of you to join me here today..~ He looks over her side and gives a quick glance towards Keizer ascending the last few branches on the trees top. ~But then again if you where just the fay from before and not the newer you I would have expected the usual cowering behind..His.. shoulder.~ Cain drops a hand and the essence pouring out begins to solidify and take the shape of three small blades that slide off and loosen themselves in the grip of his fingers. All while looking at the girl he brings the small knives up to give them a small flutter in between the two of them in some manner of teasing on his part.

~But of course I was wondering whether or not you would exploit that vacant little space within her... and now that your here and I wonder just what it is you think you can do?~

Crimson crept into the midnight blues that were once the fae's eyes. It was far from vacant within the fae's mind as she continued to fight her way to the surface with Elyshia, but the barriers that have risen kept her buried deep within her own memories. At this very moment the spirit of the trees was frightened that no one could save her from the demons above. Either Elyshia would keep her a victim within her own body, or Cain will consume them both. All she wished for was Keizer's arms or shoulders to make her feel safe again. "What can I do?" Elyshia stared at him, keeping the blades in sight as she stepped around him a moment. He was ghastly looking, his eyes crazed and his body just so unnatural. "You're a creature of the night..." her voice was very calm and still carried the same robotic tone. "Master of evil."

Her hands went behind her back, it was a sign of unconcern. "You know my weakness..." she added, giving a short glance to the larger man who was mentioned earlier. "You have no intent on showing me a sample of your power, in concern that I may mock it. Though you plan, as I recall from the house, to capture me... or use me to your advantage, but what your advantage is on this playing field is very hard to pinpoint." Her hair began to shift to the ebony of her natural form. "Though you need me to complete your plan... and you can't do that with just a puppet." The trees waded toward her, forming a large throne chair with thorns rolling up the edges. She sat down, staring at the demonic with a smug look crossing the fae's face.

"To consume me or use me, you'll need my true spirit and form. But with this fae's power to use mind control it is easy to gather a puppet to gain access to being closer to you and the others. A shame we can't work together. You and I would make a fabulous work of art." She crossed her legs and folded her hands above her knees. "Tell me, Cain. What is going on in that rattled head of yours."

River looked at Jaquellyn, then to the cookie, and back to her. Then he shrugged and sat on one of the stools by the counter, leaning against the wall with the cookies on his lap. "More for me," he said, and nibbled the cookie he'd offered her. It was somewhat entertaining to River that the great assassin woman was leery of him; this small man who always seemed harmless to most people. Maybe it was his knowledge of the poison she carried... "Poisons are interesting, though yours is more like an acid. The fact that it eats through muscle and even bone would kill before the poison in it took effect. I'd just like to know what kind of metal those claws are made of to withstand a complete coating of that stuff."

"I know of no one who is as unusual as River." The dark head turned to frown at said cookie-eating ally. "Will the engineer mind please go to sleep and allow the warrior to surface?" Valium asked, mildly annoyed.

Then Jaquellyn mentioned more coffee and the vampire immediately jerked his head to look at her. "No," he said firmly, and River hid his smile behind another cookie.

"There's nothing I can do right now," River said. "Sarka has been taken over by the mimic, from what I can hear through the pond they're sitting near."

"Flek," Valium cursed.

River nodded. "So now we have to worry about all the trees in the entire island turning against us, yeah. Sarka's a earthy type faerie," he explained to Jaquellyn. "Not only that, but the mimic seems to want to join up with cain. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. Cain is a demon after all. Other than that, she seems to be able to take in any power used against her or around her, but I doubt she can mimic stuff that was gained through training and skill. Magic, yes, but my runes, probably not, your poisons, lady, probably not. And nowhere near our speed or strength unless she's also trained her body, but I doubt she could learn our full training unless she's got some wicked mind magic. Valium and I are naturally shielded against that, and both of us have worked hard to keep our thoughts to ourselves, so for her to get into our heads.... not so easy. You, Jaquellyn, I'm not sure, unless you've got some talent in that direction."

Valium focused silver eyes on the woman, who would probably feel some sensation (heat, pressure, etc.) against her skull for a moment. Then the vampire nodded. "You have some natural defenses at least. I won't press further than that." He hadn't been able to get into her head with a light push, so he wasn't going to try it.

"That's a good idea. I remember the last time you tried to press," River's eyes shot with more yellow and Valium visibly winced.

Jaquellyn nodded at the newcomers, eyes quickly darting to the small dragon. A small smile lit her lips as she realized they controlled-in part- the creature. "A pair after my own heart," she said, then stared as the dragon dissapearednaround the male's ankle. Looking back, she thanked her for the greeting. "I have had dealing with your country. Lovely place," she offhandedly remarked, turning back to River, eyes narrowing.

"My claws are naturally resilient." she started. And smiled. "It burns through anything organic. Wood, flesh, cloth. Metal, not so much."

She wouldnt explain the magical bindings onthe liquid, ensuring its ability to be swallowed as a poison as well.

Listening the to explanation of Sarka's possession, Jaquellyn nodded. "Mimics usually have the physical weakness, depending on their cloned abilities more than their bodies," she murmured, gazing off. "I rarely hear of one able to break into a shielded mind with ease. This one sounds intereting..." she trailed off as her eyes flashed dangerously, the color bleeding into black as she watched the vampire.

She felt the pushing, burning sensation, as weak as it was. Jaquellyn had spent the better part of her youth trained to shield herself. Couldn't have your mark find out before you were ready.

Flashing fangs at the male, she glared. "You won't be able to push anyway." she warned, her eyes slowly turning back to the blue. It was true, she was a poison weilder. And that included her mind. If breaking part thefirst reinforced shield, the reader was immediately swamped with a loud, ear rending screech, sharp stabs to the mind, and the chaotic images of every death she ever caused.

Nobody could say she wasn't thorough.

Tapping her claws against the wooden counter, she addressed them all. "What is the pan to rid yourselves of this mimic," she asked, looking down. She caught the golden flash to River's eyes, and again was trying to catch his scent, magical or otherwise.

Rashad stretched out his arms and then leaned against one of the window sills in the room. "All our plans have seemed to fail." He stated, watching the assassin with a lazy eye. If she was curious about their misfortune he could, for now, trust her. Anya, on the other hand, kept her eyes very steady on the three near the kitchen area. She was not about to let any of them out of her sight unless they decided to leave the room. River, was not who he said he was, and she did not trust someone who hid behind a flaws identity. Valium was a vampire, and with her experience with a clan not far from her home she could not trust them either. This was not to say the assassin was any trustworthier than the other two. Anya was trained in the ways of an assassin, taking her whole life after her father's death to train herself in speed, stealth, and the quick kill. Her knowledge on poisons varied, but this poison that the assassin before her held with her was of a nature quite unknown to her. She'd have to ask about it later.

"He's right." Anya stated, her honey-gold eyes staying more on the assassin than the other two. "Keizer has tried to fight her and she mimicked magic, but did not show any strength or speed herself. Honestly, she didn't move much. Then we all tried to take her on at once which she proved to have advanced some of the magic she learned from Keizer. Cain has mentioned something about fire... then stated that he would use magical energy to trap her, but as River has pointed out. She has shown herself by taking over someone else's mind." A sigh escaped the dark-haired beauty's lips. "Without her showing her true form we have no way of taking her down. Besides," she turned her attention to River. "How can we say our barriers are strong enough to keep her out. Sarka, being a foreseer has trained herself to keep intruders out too, but even she had difficulty. We don't have any idea what we are going up against."

"Our strength and speed would prove useful," Rashad added, crossing his arms over his broad chest, his emerald eyes sparkling as he watched the others. "My dragons would be useful too, they are not magic but bonds between me and the dragon's I've killed. So they would be useful, but without a target in a solid form we have no way of attacking her and winning." The drago closed his eyes as he thought through the options that have given them. "If she really has Sarka then we do have a lot to worry about when it comes to the natural world around us. But how long she has had Sarka's mind is unknown and yet the trees have not turned on us quite yet. Which could mean..."

"That Sarka might still be fighting her." Anya finished. "What if Sarka knows where the mimic is hiding herself. If their minds are together she must know where the mimic is hiding." Her eagerness showed on her face as she pushed herself away from the counter and onto her feet.
