Miyako Kiyomizu

"What do you mean by 'rehabilitation'?"

0 · 419 views · located in Wayward House

a character in “Wayward House for the Misunderstood”, as played by Kuukakulily

Description

Image

Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: Miyako stands at a normal 5'7". She is of normal weight for her height. She has slightly curly black hair that reaches down to her mid-back. She is mostly seen with it tied up. She has deep brown eyes that seem to stare into the depths of your soul. Many people find them a little unsettling. She has a slim, muscled body from all the swimming she does. She has a large scar on her back from when she was burned when she was 7. When she uses her powers, her eyes turn a light blue. She often wears clothes with a blue theme, but she has been known to play around with colors. Her clothing style can best be described as "minimal" despite the scar on her back. She doesn't like a lot of clothes because she feels that it's constricting. She can usually be seen in shorts, tank tops, and having no shoes.

Personality: Miyako is like the water. Calm and gentle but should she be angered, her mood changes to that of a raging tempest. She is generally a joyful, and light individual who is amused by many things. She can be greatly underestimated in terms of her intelligence, but she is quite smart and cunning. She does not readily express her feelings and will deflect many personal questions with a question of her own or she will simply change the topic of conversation. She likes to play pranks on people like throwing "water balls" at them when they least expect it. She doesn't have much problem controlling her abilities, but would like to develop more complex ways of using them. She loses control of her abilities when she is angered, so it is best not be in her presence when she does.

Some things I like:
  • I LOVE water
  • I like reading manga
  • I like pulling pranks on people

Some things I don't like:
  • I detest doing chores.
  • I don't like when people interrupt my swimming time.
  • I don't like fire at all.

Power/Supernatural Gift:Water Manipulation/ Ability to Breath underwater

Background: Miyako was born in the Chiba prefecture of Japan. She was a normal child with an older brother and sister. She was well-loved by her parents and many people who met her. She was in a fire when she was 7 and was scarred by it. Her abilities began to manifest when she entered junior high. She found that she could manipulate the water she came into contact with. When she tried to show her family what she could do, they shunned her. She was left on the streets and made her way as best as she could. She stayed in mostly net cafes and worked in maid cafes for a time to earn money for school. She was involved in an accidental drowning. The police believe the man was pushed into the water, but the truth is, as the man had tried to molest her, she accidentally drowned him with her abilities. She is now being placed into the Wayward House for the Misunderstood and is rather apprehensive about the "rehabilitation".

So begins...

"Sis. We'll prove you innocent, okay?"

Lily, half asleep and dazing, drifts into a recent memory. Her farewell with her caring and strong brother. Luke... her stalwart protector; always there except for when it mattered most. The party... with Amy and the others. The night before she was arrested for murdering that boy. The one with scary gleaming eyes. The one with evil intentions. Lily shakes her head and closes her eyes absently, even while hands push her off the bus, unshackling her wrists. Almomst unconsciously, her hands grasp down at the soft red bird on her lap and she clutches it to her chest. Phina.

"Luke? Where am I going? Will I be able to see you?!"

Luke shakes his head, almost mournfully as his sister is more or less dragged onto the bus. Her parents couldn't show up- it would be bad for the business to be seen with a murderer of a daughter.

"This isn't right, Lil. Y-you need help. A therapist. Not... not this."

Shinji, up ahead. Lily easily recognized him; her lawyer who had failed her. He said! He promised that she'd be found innocent! He lied! She glares daggers straight at him, and dark energy begins to swirl at her palms, albeit very faintly. Her eyes shimmer a dark scarlet before returning to the peaceful blue hue, and the energy at her hands dissipates into nothingness. What the heck? Why is he here?

She aware of the things around her- a boy drawing something on a sort of pad, a tallish girl wearing revealing clothing with a beautiful sheen of black hair, and another girl with her hand pointed out, putting her perfect nails for all to see. Lily felt herself move closer to the black haired girl, the asian girl, and slightly hiding behind her stuffed pheonix, her small frame moves beside the other girl. Faintly, she saw a guard carrying most of her things into a yellow house; the Wayward House.

"Hi!" Lily chirps; her voice quavering slightly. "Umm! I'm sorta scared. Wanna be friends?"

Lily peers into the deep soulful brown eyes of the other girl. She lets out a nervous giggle and moves Phina up to partially obscure her face.

Miyako had seemed down all day. It wasn't usual for her to be this solemn, even with everything she'd been through. She looked about the bus taking everything in. She saw a girl in the back of the bus fiddling with her gloves, another who was doing her nails and another who was drifting in and out of sleep. They must have done something too, to end up here she thought. She was very curious to find out what exactly they had done, but didn't think it would be appropriate given the circumstances.

The bus came to a stop behind a car. She looked out the window to see what would seem like a very nice house, but she was still skeptical. She liked what she could do, and didn't want to jeopardize it. It wasn't her fault that someone got frisky with her and she lost control. She shook her head to clear the bad memories away and followed the guards off the bus. The undid her shackles and she rubbed her wrists to restore some measure of feeling to them.

As she looked at the new faces, she found one in particular to be familiar. That face belonged to her lawyer Shinji Tagasaki. Wayward House was known throughout the world for their high reputation and that reach extended as far as Japan. She had been on trial for involuntary manslaughter and he pleaded her case. It should have been an open and close case. She had defended herself and "pushed" him into the water, but Shinji had completely botched the job and got her sent here. She was as far from home as she could get, so she made sure he would know how homesick she was.

As she was focusing on the girl who had been doing her nails strange behavior, a girl had sidled next to her and attempted to use her stuffed animal as a shield.

"Hi!" the girl's voice quavered, "Umm! I'm sorta scared. Wanna be friends?"

Miyako was a little taken aback, but soon recovered from her initial shock at being spoken to. "Oh, hello" she said in an accented voice, "I am scared too, actually. I would not mind being friends." Miyako said as she bowed and extended her hand in a friendly gesture.

Sebastian was curled up underneath one of the bus seats in the form of a beautiful Siamese cat with bright blue eyes. He was rudely awoken by the bus coming to a halt, and people making their way off the bus. He stretched his limbs and scampered off the bus. He rubbed against people legs once he was outside. When he was a cat, he sometimes took on cat tendencies, it was jut part of his nature. He let out a scared meow when the girl had yelled at a boy named Darius to shut up. He was a bit wary of the boy with wings, he'd approach him when he was human. He rubbed up against a pretty Asian girl and began to purr. the then looked to the little girl standing next to her. She looked quite frightened. He rubbed up against her legs too, then mewed. He got up on his back two legs and pawed at their hips, not scratching them, just trying to get their attention.

The girl seemed taken aback at Lily's abrupt hello. A slight flush grew on the smaller girl's cheeks as the older girl answered her greeting in a friendly manner. The Asian girl bowed down respectfully and offered her hand forward. Lily, hesitantly at first but then eagerly takes the hand with her own and shakes it firmly. A somewhat pitiful smile spreads across her face.

"Oh, hello. I am scared too, actually." The other girl says, and she has a very strange way of speaking. An accent, and she pronounces all the syllables and sounds very precisely; carefully. Lily flinches in surprise, but she quickly masks it with a slight tilt of her head. "I would not mind being friends."

"I'm Lily!" She says brightly and sets Phina down from her face, and hugging it to her chest once again. The red feathers lightly tickled against her nose as she did this, inciting a sneeze. A high squeak of a 'choo' as her body somewhat jerked forwards; violently. She straightens herself up, blushing again, and mutters a quick sorry to the taller girl. Lily finger-brushes nervously at her ponytail and moves closer to the tall Asian girl. Lily then put her gaze at the Wayward House. Ugly and yellow. Almost as if a trick of the light, she could see wings shimmering on the back of one of the boys up ahead. She blinks once twice, then shakes her head, confused.

Something bushes against her legs.

"You're shoo purdy, Lil..."

Two paws at her hips. Lily lets out a wild shriek; her mind reeling to that awful night, before realizing that it was simply a large cat. Feeling as if everyone was staring at her, she shakes her bangs into her eyes to hide herself from their gaze.

"Get off me! I-I mean it!

A deep steadying breath ends the harrowing flashback, and Lily bends down and pets the cat, almost in apology.

Sebastian skitted away from Lily when she yelled at him, but once she bent over to pet him, he quickly rubbed against her hand, a deep purr came from his chest as she srcathed his neck. He decided he liked her. He padded away drom her, and slowly formed into a tall red headed human boy. He stretched again and turned back to Lily and the cute asian girl. He smiled warmly at them and introduced himself. "I'm Sebastian," He smiled and stuck his hand out to Lily, and politely bowed to Miyako. He had taken an asian culture class at his old school, he knw this was the polite thing to do. When Shinji told them to go inside, he realized just how hungry he was. He began to walk to the door with everyone else, then slowed down to walk in with the two girls. He wanted to get to know them a bit.

"My name is Kiyomizu Miyako, but you may just call me Miyako. I like your name, Lily, it suits you well." Miyako said with a genuine smile. She noticed the pretty cat that was brushing up next to them and wanted to pet it, but Lily got to it first. She wouldn't admit it, but she really loved cats. She was startled to say the least, when the pretty cat formed into a boy and gave her a bow. He said his name was Sebastian. "Oh, as you probably heard, my name is Miyako. It is a pleasure to meet you." she said formally. He has an ability too, that means I'm not alone! she thought rather happily and gave a small smile to herself.

She looked up at Shinji as he began to speak "Welcome, all of you, to the Wayward House for the Misunderstood! Now that everyone is gathered, please follow me to the dining room. I'm sure that many of you are hungry, so lunch has been prepared for you. Everything will be explained, so I ask that you do your best to remain calm." with that he proceeded to lead them inside the house. She saw him visibly pale and he looked up, she looked up to see what it was that had frightened him, but could see nothing. That is odd she thought.

Shinji had lead them all into a spacious dining room. On the table were several plates of sandwiches, none of which were labeled. She wasn't very picky about which she got, so she picked one at random and sat at the table, saving one of the seats next to her for Lily. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at the snobby vegetarian girl who complained about the food. She looked about the dining room as she bit into her sandwich, which she was surprised to find was peanut butter and banana. A boy was eating and drawing frantically in the corner, while another boy had commented on the snobby girls complaints.
She looked across the table at a girl who was taking of her gloves. As she attempted to eat with a fork, she had frozen it completely. Does everyone here have an ability? This is amazing! She had a wider grin on her face as an older lady came in and apologized for not having labeled the sandwiches. She seemed very nice, and instantly decided that she liked her. She reminded her of her own Obaa-chan. A girl that was sitting next to the girl that had frozen her fork began to help her eat her sandwich.

The snobby girl asked Shinji what the Wayward House was all about, and she had to admit that she was curious as well. "It is obvious that all of us here are special, so will this "rehabilitation" take what makes us special away?" She was eager to find out if she would have to fight to keep her abilities or not.

An impossible image. The cat, the white fluffy cat that had brushed against her, morphing into a tall boy with a mop of red hair. Lily awkwardly takes a quick glance at Phina, realizing that this can't be a coincidence. Right? She obviously did... something, and this boy can, as well. Beside her, Lily could feel surprise and some strange sort of revelation coming from her new friend. The Japanese girl. She had a small smile to herself while the boy introduced himself as Sebastian, and shook hands with the smaller girl. He then made a polite bow to Miyako, who quickly re-introduced herself to the cat-turned-boy. Lily, while feeling a faint bong with Miya, she is still wary of Sebastian, knowing exactly what his kind is capable of doing. She let out a small shiver as Shinji called everyone into the house. Through the ugly door and the awful yellow walls.

House for the Misunderstood. That's what Shinji said. Misunderstood. Like, an honorific? Kinda like special needs? A more polite way of saying how unfortunate we are? I think so!

Warmth spread through Lily's face for the third time when she saw that Miya had saved a seat for her. She timidly propped herself into the seat and beamed up at the Japanese girl. She could now examine some of the other people here, too. Lily saw a boy who appeared to be having trouble staying awake, which made her giggle. Very tall, though. And probably well-muscled. She'd keep an eye on him. There was also the drawing boy, who has some sort of coin with him, rapidly sketching something. How old was he? Eleven? Ten? Oh, and the girl with the dragon, of course, with the appropriate dragon tattoo on her arm. Lily briefly wonders what it means when an old woman came by with multiple packs of food. She made an apology and a kind welcome, and Lily felt this strange sort of satisfaction at being somewhat pampered. Only somewhat. She still remembers the shackles she had on not too long ago.

"Can I call you Miya?" Lily whispers to her friend beside her, who looked somewhat content at the various people around. All of whom seemed to have some sort of supernatural gift. Just like... just like Phina. And all the others, too. There was even this girl talking to someone who didn’t seem to be there. Darryl? Darren? Lily couldn't quite hear.

As the snobby girl with awesome nails asks Shinji about the Wayward House, Lily begins to think that, possibly, there's something bigger going on here. It all just seems too convenient. In any case, she's happy to have made a friend, Miya, and she already begins to feel herself becoming slightly reliant on the mild mannered Japanese girl.

He smiled at Miyako. "Yes, I did hear. Cats have good hearing." He smiled at her and then looked down to Lily. She seemed to be wary of him, but not necessarily frightened. He hoped she might warm up to him soon.

Sebastian was watching silently as everyone spoke. The snobby, yet gorgeous, rich girl had complained about not having a vegetarian option, then she began flirting with the giant bird, or at least that's how Sebastian pictured him. He started sizing himself up to all of the other predators... people in the room. He was gauging how well he would be able to defend himself, if need be. Even in human form, he had feline instincts to protect himself. Even thought lions were his favorite to turn into, and they live in prides, the instinct of being alone was still stronger for him. He figured he could grow to let these people into his pride.. No, grow to become friends with them, they're not my cubs... He thought to himself, but somewhere deeper was telling him different, he just had to fight the urge to be in control. ..Yet.

He ducked his head when Brenna screamed. It was a loud piercing scream that hurt his ears. His cat eyes darted around the room, looking for a safe spot, and his ears grew long and furry. Once the firstly assumed snobby girl calmed her down, his eyes returned to normal, and the cat ears disappeared. Sebastian often began changing if he was frightened; sometimes he could help fully changing, and other times he couldn't.

As Miyako awaited an answer to her question, she saw a girl out the corner of her eye began clutching her throat. Miyako's first instinct was to jump up and give her the heimlich maneuver as she feared the girl was choking. As she moved to get out of her chair, the girl released an ear shaterring scream. It startled Miyako very severely and she began to lose control. The drinks in the glasses began to shake violently and shattered from the screams of the girl. Once they shattered, the drinks didn't spill but remained as they were. The girl who seemed snobby attempted to calm the girl who had abruptly stopped. She saw Sebastian literally freaking out. She touched his shoulder in an attempt to calm him and turned to Lily to make sure that she was okay. As she calmed, she released the drinks she had taken control of and they splashed against the table. "Ah, I always make messes when I lose control" she said shaking her head and grabbing napkins to clean the mess.

And then; the ear splitting scream.

"Stop fighting, girl... you know you'll love it..."

"Scream. Scream all you want. Turns me on..."

It was like a total frenzy; everything was happening at once. While all the glasses completely shattered, the water, the liquids remained stagnant; floating for a few moments before it being let down. Lily nearly jerked from her seat, but she felt Miya's worry, and she felt warm gratitude towards her friend. Beside her, Lily saw Miya start to clean, apologizing politely about the mess. This made Lily raise an eyebrow in acknowledgement. Her left forearm, unfortunately, was hit by a flying shard of glass, drawing blood. She didn't notice it, of course. Lily caught her breath slowly, remembering that it wasn't her doing the screaming, that it was that creepy girl.

"U-uhm..." Lily stammered, looking down at Phina, but aiming the words at Miya. "A-arigeto? Did I say it right?"

Sebastian seemed to be terribly shocked by the screech, of course, afraid. Lily shot him a hesitant, reserved smile of sympathy, and squeezed Phina to her chest as usual. The dragon girl was petting the dragon, petting it and scratching behind its ears. Nail-polish girl and Angel-boy, they approached the screaming girl, hands held tight. And of course, Shinji, who had obviously meant for her to come here, he was on the phone. With a look of deep relief on his face, he then turned to the screaming girl and brushed his finger against her lips. Lily recoiled almost violently from that; seeing a male make such intimate contact with a prone female. A few moments later, she felt the gaze of the sleepy boy upon her. She locked eyes with him for a few seconds, silently asking him, why are you looking at me? what do you want? and then she held her head down, chin tucked to her chest. A drop of blood fell from her arm onto the waist of her skirt but she was hardly paying attention.

"A-arigeto? Did I say it right?" Miyako looked up from her cleaning as Lily spoke. "Almost," she said turning to face the young girl. "instead of the 'eh' sound you want the 'ah' soun-" She stopped mid-sentence when she saw the blood flowing freely from the young girls arm. "Arema!" she gave a small shout. "You are bleeding." she said handing her a towel. She attempted to help the girl clean up her arm. It was fortunate that she was not squeamish when it came to these sights.

As she cleaned Lily's arm, she glanced about the room, seeing how others reacted to the scream. There was a girl with what seemed to be a dragon. That is a pretty cool ability she thought to herself. The boy who was sketching had left the room completely, apparently too perturbed by the commotion. Shinji was talking on the phone, rather urgently and once her hung up, he walked over to the girl who had been screaming. He ran his index finger across her lips, and she visibly paled. She could take physical contact with a man, despite what had happened, but to her that seemed rather inappropriate. She was sure it wasn't to be taken that way, but it perturbed her nonetheless. The girl who could freeze things was muttering to herself, and Miyako couldn't help but wonder if she was truly mentally ill.

"I think I have questions to answer, to all of you. To do that, however, I need everyone to remain calm, quiet, and to listen. Do you all understand?" Shinji said stepping to the front of the room and Miyako sat a little straighter in her seat. She was most eager for him to answer her question. He looked at everyone in turn, but Miyako gave him a hard look back as his gaze went to her. She wouldn't fall for his games, and she didn't feel very trusting towards him, despite how calm she was feeling. Shinji raised his voice and spoke. "That includes you, Jeremy. If you would be so kind as to join us, I'll be more than happy to begin." That must be the name of the other boy who had left.

Sebastian almost flinched when Miyako touched his arm, but restrained. He felt vulnerable right then, but he realized it was a comforting gesture. He looked to her and smiled a little, sharp canines showing just barely. He sighed heavily and listened as Lily and Miykao conversed. He accepted the smile from Lily with another smile from himself. He was so shaken by the horrible acream, he hadn't noticed the water stayed in their shape utill it all splashed on the table. It splashed him a bit, but he was distracted by Miyako apologising. He scrunched his eyebrows together.

"You didn't break the glasses.. Why are you applogising?" He asked at almost a whisper. She began cleaning up the mess, the he realized. "You were keeping the water in the air. That's amazing." His eyes were wide and curious, but he began helping her clean it up, careful to acoid the glass.

When he heard Miyako shout he looked around the room, wonderjng why she said something. He then looked back to her while she was talking about Lily bleeding. "Are you alright?" He asked. He bit his lip. Again his instincts were taking hold, and he was tempted to lick the wound. Obviously that would not be acceptable, possibly not even in cat form. Sebastian looked away from the wound when Shinji spoke. He actually didn't have-- wait, he had to know if he was allowed to hunt, alone. He had no intentions of running away, so he wouldn't need a supervisor, but they wouldn't believe that. Now he was itching to ask his question and recieve an answer. This was such an important part of his nature.

Lily shrunk in embarrassment. Not only had she failed to correctly say 'arigato, she had made Miyako clean her the wound that she hadn't even noticed! Her cheeks shone a faint pink and she shook her head again, thin black hair falling over her eyes. Small stabs of pain seemed to radiate up from her arm, and Lily gingerly looked as blood stained her skin, the fluffy towel, and her clothing. Lily averted her eyes then, deciding to send a sad glare at Sebastian, the Cat Boy. When she saw that he smiled back at her, she deepened her glare into a scowl.

"I'm fine." She muttered in a hard edgy voice.

He's smiling at me. What does he want? I don't understand!

"I think I have questions to answer, to all of you. To do that, however, I need everyone to remain calm, quiet, and to listen. Do you all understand?" Lily snapped her gaze to Shinji, tall and authoritative. He made his way, positioning himself at the fore, with a strange, self-important sort of expression etched on his face. Lily brushed her bangs out her eyes and got a clearer view of the caretaker. He looked slightly anxious, and possibly even reluctant. Lily pursed her lips impatiently.

We all deserve answers!

Lily glanced at Miyako who sat straight as a pencil, at rapt attention. Lily, feeling somewhat sullen, decided to try and copy her. She straightened her back, puffed up her chest, and widened her eyes directly at Shinji, who was gesturing to the drawing boy, Jeremy, to come back into the room. He did; but rather than sit at the table, he sat with his back up against the wall, still isolating himself from the others.

Lily pondered briefly if she was going to have to fight for her powers, alongside with Miyako's yet unanswered question, but that was when the sleepy boy seemed to snap to life. He began peppering Shinji with questions, always interrupted with some sort of pained look to his face. His powers... whatever they are. Questions about Shinji's intention, why everyone here has.... has powers. But the pain seemed to win and he succumbed, screaming and sobbing 'stop it! stop it!' Dragon girl came up and comforted the sleepy boy, soothing him, and introduced herself as Nell, and her dragon as Brom. Lily looked into herself and focused hard on the image of a Piranha Plant, from the Super Mario Games. Prahna.

Prahna seemed to appear out of thin air, a red and green plant with sharp teeth, in a pipe. It rose up in the air and sprinkled some sort of dust onto the sleepy boy, to make him drowsy, in some sort of anesthetic state to perhaps null the pain. Lily felt a terrible rush of fatigue go through her, however, and slumped back into her chair, unsummoning Prahna. She felt out a weak moan, hugging the Phina doll towards her.

"You didn't break the glasses.. Why are you apologizing?" Sebastian had asked her in a whisper. Before she could answer, he had figured it out. "You were keeping the water in the air. That's amazing." She blushed at the praise for she hardly received any. "Thank you very much. Your gift is incredible as well." Miyako said. Their conversation was interrupted by the boy who had been sitting quietly suddenly peppering Shinji with questions. He then began screaming and Sebastian could no longer take the commotion and turned into the pretty Siamese cat again and rushed to hide. She could see him from his vantage point and gave him a small encouraging smile.

Shinji finally spoke and Miyako payed attention once more.

"Yes, everyone in this room has a power or two of some sort. As some of you might have guessed, it is also the reason you are all gathered here. Take a moment to think about the name of this place. 'Wayward House for the Misunderstood.' Not many people would give such a name to a place like this, but this place is exactly what the name implies; a house for misunderstood people. In this case, what has been misunderstood are your powers and how you use them. Now, I don't know if any of you were actually guilty of whatever crime you were charged for. However, it doesn't matter. The crime happened simply because none of you can control your powers. I find that in most cases, it manifests in self-defense, although that may not always be the case. Now that you all know the reason you are here, let me tell you the truth about the Wayward House and what we do. The Wayward House exists to educate, guide, and shelter those gifted with special 'abilities'. The world does not yet understand people like us; they fear our strengths and give no heed to our needs. You may think of the House as a sort of underground shelter, a place for you to learn how to control your powers so that you may live a normal life." Miyako was most interested to learn that she would be learning more. She knew a lot already, but she imagined the possibilities. To be able to create intense water pressure, to manipulate the temperature to whatever she chose, she could even draw water from air if she wasn't near a water source. She gave a large grin as her imagination wandered.

Then, Shinji was speaking again. "Don't misunderstand. This place is not a school. It is not your home either, unless you wish it to be so. It is an intermediary place between you and the outside world. That being said, there are some rules that everyone, and I mean everyone, must follow."

He had stood straighter and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Rule number one: You may not use your powers against each other, no matter the reason. No exceptions."
Well, that isn't any fun. Now I can't pull pranks on anybody she thought and pouted.
"Rule number two: You will each have separate bedrooms. You are not allowed to visit each other's bedrooms, especially after dark. Lights out is always at ten." Well, I guess that's a reasonable request.
"Rule number three: You may not leave the house unless directly given permission by either the Director or I."
How am I supposed to go swimming?!
Rule number four: Everyone MUST attend the training sessions. No exceptions.
Why would anyone want to miss a chance to advance themselves?[/b]
Rule number five: Breakfast is always at eight a.m., where you will also be told what you will be doing that day. Therefore, you are expected to be in the dining room at that time.
[i] I am not a fan of being woken up early, but I suppose it can not be to hard

Shinji had finished his lecture on rules and spoke again "All of these rules are subject to change depending on your behavior. If you show good behavior and control over your power, you will be shown lenience. You could even do as you please, as long as it is within reason. However, if you show that you cannot control yourself and cannot follow the rules, you will not be shown any mercy. Your powers can and will be taken away if it is necessary." Miyako was very upset at is mention of taking her abilities away and she gave a very worried look at him.

Shinji then spoke again after stopping his pacing "There is one last thing before we go on. One last rule. There are no exceptions to this rule, even if you show perfect behavior and mastery of your powers.
Rule number six: Stay away from Room 12. It is off-limits to everyone except the Director and I. This intrigued Miyako very much. What could possibly be in there that can make him look so serious. She thought perhaps that it could be the thing that could take what they could do away. As she was musing, the girl who did her nails turned hysterical again asking if she had really killed someone. I really am in an insane asylum she thought depressingly. The girl then fainted and Miyako barely resisted rolling her eyes. She could be perfectly polite when social situations called for it, but she was only human and could barely withstand the onslaught of drama Sereinity came up with. "What a drama queen," she muttered under her breath.

Sebastian meowed quietly then took a giant leap and landed silently on the floor. He padded over to Shinji, and began shifting into a human again. He didn't change all the way, he still had a fluffy tail, furry ears, and his hair wasn't completely red again, it was mostly blonde. His eyes were still aqua blue and his pupils were slits . "Shinji," He began, "I first want to thank you for bringing me here. This is a much better option than prison." He emphasized the word prison and glanced around the room. He scowled and continued, "We are all lucky to be here and the last thing we should be doing is complaining to you about it." His eyes scanned the room and lingered on Miyako, he gave her a quick smile. "Anyway, like the others, I have some questions." He flicked his tail and yawned, showing his long and sharp canines. He grabbed his own chair and sat in it, before continuing.

"The rules are reasonable, and speaking for myself, some are appreciated. But what if one rule was not going to work with someone?" He asked, say someone, as if it wasn't obvious enough of who he was talking about. "For example, what if it was the instinct of every fiber of someone's being, to explore the outdoors, on his or her own? What if they needed to hunt without the burden of a suervisor.. Would that be possible for this person?" He was being very polite, it wasn't in his nature to be rude. He had a feeling he wasn't going to get the answer he wanted, so he continued on to his next question. "Also, if the vegetarian gets special food, would it be possible for the carnivore to get raw meat?" His mouth watered just thinking about it. "Then again it would be much simpler for the feline to get his own food if he were allowed to hunt." He returned to his first question. He really hoped he had a made a valid arguement. Maybe I should say I'd be willing to get a chip so they can track me.. He thought then pushed it away. He wouldn't like that at all. He wasn't a house pet.

Miyako stifled a chuckle as the Director literally popped out and began insisting on playing with Sebastian. The Director was amusing, especially in comparison with Shinji, but she had not forgotten that the Director was just that, The Director. Her assumption was that he ran every aspect of this place and somehow procured the means to take their abilities away and she wasn't soon going to forget it.

As they made their way upstairs and through hall, people were being placed into their rooms. She glanced over at Sebastian who was still furry and whispered. "You know, you would be very popular back in Japan. I once had to dress up like the way you look for my job. I never thought it would be a possibility to actually be that way." She smiled at him and faced forward again. Jeremy had detached himself from the group at his room which was the first fairly soon.

Miyako was surprised to find that she was next to the boy. She was also pleased to find that her door plaque read her name in both english and japanese, giving her some feeling of home. She opened the door and gasped rather loudly. "Sugoi na. It's amazing" she said at the sight of her room. It was everything and more than she could ever ask. It was completely surrounded by water save the walkway to the one spot of dry in the center. On it was a simple futon and a simple japanese style dresser. She turned back to Lily and gave her an encouraging smile as if to say 'You'll be fine' and walked into her room. She noticed her bags sat next to the dresser in the middle, and though she was tired from the long trip from Japan, she was eager to get settled. She was glad that she never wear many clothes, as it gave her more room to pack her more personal items. She meticulously combed through her bags and placed the items in their appropriate places. She kept her favorite doll on the highest part of the dresser she could find.

It had been given to her on the last Hina Matsuri (girl's day) she had celebrated with her family. A small tear welled in her eye at the thought of her family and she quickly swiped it away. They shunned her, so why should she think about them now?

She looked back at the futon. She had unpacked everything she carried with her and the futon seemed to call her name. Figuring she could do nothing else for the day, Miyako laid on her futon and drifted into sleep.

Miyako rolled over in her futon, wishing for the noise to stop. The Director continued his ruckus and she found it difficult to ignore his incessant noise-making. She sat and rubbed her eyes tiredly. She hated mornings so very much.

She got out of her futon and dressed rather slowly, still trying to wake up. She looked at her reflection at the water's edge and brushed her hair until it was smooth and then put it in a loose ponytail. Seeing that she looked presentable she went downstairs to join the others for breakfast.

She was the second to arrive if you didn't count the noisy director and she sat quietly in her seat. She was ravenous and piled her plate high with food. It wasn't food she was used to (she preferred rice omelettes for breakfast), but food was food and she dug in, not caring to wait on the others. She briefly thought of Lily and fixed her a plate of fruit, eggs, bacon, and a waffle so that if she arrived later than others, there would still be food left for her.

Lily was already awake by the time the Director called everyone for breakfast. To be honest, she had been awake for a few hours now, woken up from a rather graphic flashback of that night. She had visible bags under her eyes and red marks in the palms of her hands from clenching them too hard. A little depressed huff of breath escaped from her lips as she ruefully threw on a long black robe, striped green at the hems. Her hair was all mussed up, like a bird's nest, but she discovered that she didn't really care.

Miya... Wouldn't she want me to look proper?

She shook her head and started brushing her hair, and summoning Phina briefly to heat it up and straighten it. Her hair caught on fire, so with a squeal, Lily submerged her head into the cool water at the side of her room. After the fire died out, she decided on a simple look, with her hair tied yp in the back and bangs tat, if shaken right, would hide her eyes from the world. Her Bangs of Doom. Lily giggled, feeling cheered up and she walked out of her room. She saw Miyako at the table, eating, along with Jeremy and Castila, so an idea sparked in her head. She went to Room 2, Miya's room, and started to open it a creak. She saw only a brief glimpse of water when a guard pulled her back from the room, with a frustrated look.

"Get to breakfast." The guard muttered. "God, I hate supernaturals. Think they can do everything..."

After that incident, she plopped onto a seat next to Miyako and grinned at her and her gigantic pile of food. There was already food set up for her- some fruits, eggs, bacon and a waffle. But then, her stomach reeled at the idea of the fat, greasy bacon going down her throat and digested, and she quickly imagined herself as fat and sweaty as a product of the meat. Lily blinked hard and made those feelings go away as best as she could.

"Uhh. Miya?" Lily asked timidly. "I'm... uh. I'm a v-vegetarian, okay? But thank you!"

Raegen groaned, she was't really awake even when she heard the Director yelling throughout the house to wake up. She was not a morning person and especially this early. She pulled the pillow over her head and muttered "just ten more minutes Mom" she rolled back over on her side with the pillow over her ears. She then heard the guard knockin on everyones door, when the guard got to her door he knocked and she yelled "go away". The guard opened the door and looked at her "rise and shine its time to get up" and he stood there waiting. She had a urge just to use her fire but she didn't, she rolled out of bed "okay im up, im up now get out....please" she muttered, the guard left and Raegen grab a pair of black baggy pants and a hoody, she got dressed and brushed her hair then pulled the hoody over her head and went to the table. She sat at the end of the table seeing there was a few people already there and the director, she still didn't know other peoples names but she wasn't in the mood to be social. She grabbed some fruit and eggs, sitting slumped in the chair she started eating slowly.

Sebastian didn't mind waking up early, but he hated when other people woke him up. In his sleep he had changed into a lion and was now laying in the middle of the floor. He was most comfortable as a lion. He stretched his long limbs and yawned. He shook out his mane, making the bright red hair fall perfectly into place. His good matinence as a human left the fur in his feline forms just as smooth, clean and beautiful as his hair as a human was. He changed into a human and cleaned himself up. He took a quick shower and put on dark wash jeans and a bright blue t shirt, which was a little tight, and it showed off his muscles. He ran a comb through his hair, cracked the door open then dropped on all fours, becoming a lion again. He nosed the door and pushed it open, using his tail to pull it shut. A couple of guards gave him weird looks, and some reached for their guns, but Sebastian kept padding down the hall. He walked into the kitchen and saw that a small group of people was growing. He yawned again and changed into his normal self. The food smelled great. He stacked up his plate, avoiding the sausage and bacon. Ever since he had figured out he was part feline, he really only wanted to eat raw meat, even as a human.

"Goodmorning Miyako." He said and politely bowed to her. "Hi Lily." He said smiling. He decided everyone was on edge the previous day, so he hoped she wouldn't be acting weirdly to him today. He finished his plate, not as violently hungry anymore, but still not satisfied. "Director, " He said politely, standing up and walking over to him. He was standing directly behind Casi, with his hands on the back of her seat. "Pardon me, darling," He said to her. "Director," He began again, "Is there anyway I would be allowed to get certain things at this breakfast, just more... Fresh." He didn't want to gross any of the girls out by blatantly asking for raw meat, he just hoped the director would catch on that he was talking about meat and not fruit.

As Miyako ate, more people came in and sat at the table. Lily came in and greeted her then looked at her plate in disgust. "Uhh. Miya?" Lily said quietly "I'm... uh. I'm a v-vegetarian, okay? But thank you!" Miyako looked embarrassed. "I am sorry, I will remember that" she said in a whisper. As she was speaking with Lily, Sebastian had come in.

He looked rather good today, but Miyako didn't want to express her interest so she sat quietly. He gave her a bow and she returned a small one. "It isn't necessary to bow every time you see me" she said with a small laugh. "You are my elder so if anything I should bow to you first." She gave a smile and sat back in her chair, waiting for the Director to tell them what they would be doing today.

After Lily had told Miya about her eating habits, Miya actually looked embarrassed. This made Lily feel even worse, doing this to her friend. She started eating at some orange slices, savoring the citrus juice in her mouth, cold and refreshing. She specifically noticed the tired boy from yesterday, sitting as far from everyone as possible, still looking absolutely exhausted. Lily tilted her head in wonder, and then decided she wasn't really too interested, and took another bite of an orange slice. The cat-boy, Sebastian, came up as well, from behind moments later, bowing politely to Miya and giving a more casual hello to herself. Miyako then answered that he was her elder, so she should be bowing first, and Lily glanced between the both of them.

Huh? Uhm! I-is it just me.... or...? Are they...?

Blushing furiously, Lily turned back to her plate, and shook her bangs back over her eyes. Her Bangs of Doom protecting her from the world. She took a bite of some nice buttered toast, swallowing it with mild pleasure at the sweet taste of the butter. But she couldn't get the idea out of her head of Miyako and Sebastian. What's going on between them?

Oh, my. Th-they are. They are. I think they like each other. Oh, Miya-s...senpai! What if he...?

Lily abruptly turned to Sebastian intently, and stared directly into his somewhat feline eyes. The look she gave him clearly said this: Don't hurt her. Okay? Don't do anything.... anything bad. She hoped Sebastian would get the message. She smiled at him testily after sending her silent message, and then returns to her food; suddenly feeling full. Disgustingly embarrassingly full. As if there's something inside of her that needs... that needs to get out. Now. IT needs to get out, now.

Lily gets up unthinkingly, and rushes towards the washroom. Locking the door, she kneels down and plants her face over the toilet seat. She takes a deep steadying gulp and her finger is shoved down her throat. At first nothing happens except for her coughing, so she starts to writhe her finger there, scratching against her throat walls until she is suddenly overcome by a strong heave, spilling out chunks of what she ate into the toilet bowl. She lay there, panting, but finally gets up.

Oh, God. I... I thought I was better. I.... stupid! Stupid!

She washed her face rapidly and hoping no one would notice what had just happened, Lily returned to the table with a small smile and nod towards Miyako. She didn't eat another bite.

Sebastian nodded at Miyako, still smiling. When he got the glare from Lily, he just shook his head. He didn't understand what was wrong with her. She was looking protective over Miya, but, he still couldn't understand why. He had no intentions of hurting her. Or anyone for that matter. If anything he was here to make up for what he did. He had very conflicting emotions, because when he was a lion, things were different. He still had control over himself, and he chose the way he behaved, but the emotions didn't quite transfer the same. Lions don't feel guilty for killing, so that emotion was never created even in human form for this situation. If he had done it while he was human, he would have felt entirely different. It also could havebeen that fact that the guys were hardly friends. He feels bad about what happened, but not for what he did. He felt bad that the guys were stupid enough to threaten him. He was here to even things out. Help some people, then move on with his life.

He thought it best to just leave the situation with Miyako and Lily alone for now, so he focused on what Rae and Casi were saying. At first Castila was upset, but Raegan helped her. He smiled and sat down. As he watche her gratefully eat her food, he noticed Lily re-entering the room. Strange, he hadn't noticed her leaving. He sighed and leaned back in his chair, seitchinghis gaze from Casi and Rae to Miyako and Lily. He looked up to see Jeremy yelli g ata guard and the next thing he knew, the guard was on the floor, Jeremy was fleeibg the room, and Jonathan was after him. Sebastian made it a point to introduce himself to those two later, after things calmed down.

Sebastians attentipned fluttered back to Casi in time to hear her say when she touched the girl, she frozen instantly. He frowned and gave her a sympathetic look, even though she wasn't looking at him. That must have been what she had done to be forced to come here. He looked to Raegan, waiting to see if she would tell her story.

Sebastian shrugged, realizing that the Director was not going to answer him. Maybe he could find Shinji, and he would get him some real food to eat. He began shifting, letting his ears change and his tail form. His hair turned whitish blonde, and his canines grew longer. His ears flicked towards the hall as he heard Shinji's voice. He couldn't quite make out what he was saying, but he recognized the voice. He got up from his chair and placed his hand on Casi's shoulder. With Rae touching her, she wasn't nearly as cold. "I'm glad you guys figured out tht you can help each other, and I'm sorry for what you both have ben through." He said quietly, and offered them a small smile. "I'm going to go wait for Shinji to talk to him about my eating arrangments. I'll catch up with you later." He turned and walked away from the two girls and made his way to Miyako. This time he just ignored Lily. He was still annoyed with her being so rude to him. "Miyako, I hope I can see you later. I'd like to ser more of your power." He smiled at her then dropped to the floor, turning into a siamese. He hopped up in her lap and rubbed his back under her chin. He then lightly jumped to the floor and went into the hallway. He saw Jonathan and Jeremy being spoken to by Shinji. He rubbed up against Shinji's legs then looked at the boy with the eye patch. He meowed at them both, then sat down, waiting for Shinji to address him.

Miyako was a little startled when Lily jumped up and ran to the bathroom. She assumed that she got sick from the food and she pushed her plate away. She didn't go help her because she was sure that Lily would be embarrassed so Miyako just sat in her seat watching everybody.

Casi and Rae were helping one another eat and she thought that it was a neat thing to cancel each other out like that. She listened quietly as everybody was talking. Sebastian gave her a smile and she returned it with one of her own. She was becoming bored and figured it couldn't hurt anything to play with her drink some. She concentrated on the water in her glass and it shifted back and forth and then came out. She used her hands to control the water better and was pleased to see that it was calmly under her command. She played tricks with it, turning it into balls and triangles, shapes of all kind.

Suddenly, there was a commotion between a guard and Jeremy and Miyako dropped the water. It splashed over the table and she quickly used her mind to lift it and put it back in the glass where it belonged. There was some residue and she began to clean it up. The situation between the guard and Jeremy began to get heated and Jeremy used his power to get his sketchbook and ran away. Miyako wanted to help, but she had no idea what to say and continued to clean. As luck would have it, the boy who looked sleepy, Jonathan, went to help.

She heard Rae and Casi speak about their pasts. Rae's story intrigued her and she listened closer. At the point where Rae talked about her sister being a water-manipulator, Miyako perked up. She spoke to Rae in a quick, accented manner, "I can do that, what your sister did. I think it is very cool that even though you were elemental opposites, you were twins. Coincidentally, I have a great fear of fire. I was burned very badly when I was young," she said lifting the back of her shirt to show the large scar. " I would help you maintain your abilities, if it was not for my fear." she said politely.

It was then that she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. She figured it was Shinji, finally joining them for the day and remained seated. Sebastian began to shift and spoke to Casi and Rae and then came towards Miyako. "Miyako, I hope I can see you later. I'd like to see more of your power." he said and shifted into a siamese cat and jumped in her lap. She pet him and he rubbed under her chin. She was ticklish there and she laughed as he did it. He jumped down and Miyako said "It is a small house, so I have no doubt that you will see me later." She smiled as went into the hallway and Miyako waited silently for Shinji to come in.
