Growing up with only brothers has made Faye quite the tomboy. She enjoys being rough and rowdy with a somewhat easy going attitude. Being the runt of the litter, so to speak, has forced her to be a bit tougher both physically and mentally. Faye doesn't sweat the small stuff and lets things just fall away like water off a ducks back.

Also because of her having brothers Faye has a tendency to try hard at whatever it is she does always pushing her own limits. She needs to be the best and to stand out among the rest otherwise she won't be satisfied with herself. This stems from living in the shadow of her siblings, until her abilities began to show Faye could never best any of them at anything.

Having a family that was so close knit has given Faye a strong sense of loyalty and can easily accept others despite their flaws. It doesn't take much for her to like someone, just a few genuinely kind gestures and words win her over. Don't mistake her for naive though she can usually tell when someone is acting with ulterior motives.

Faye grew up in the wilds of Appleton, Wyoming with her mother, father, and three older brothers. being the baby of the family and the only girl didn't spoil her though, in fact she wasn't treated any different from her brothers. From the early age of 10 Faye was taught how to hunt but she was god awful at it. She had no sense of direction and would often get lost while out in the forest not to mention the fact that she couldn't hit anything even at the closest of distances. Her brothers would showcase pictures of their catches to anyone who would look, all the while they would joke about how even at the age of 16 she had never landed one shot.

That all changed that very summer. During that sixteenth year the family had gone out to their cabin for their annual summer hunting trip, as they also have a fall and winter trip for the various types of game available during each season. Her second eldest brother and her had wandered far from the cabin and night had fell on them. They hadn't thought to bring a flashlight with them and would have been stumbling around in sheer darkness had the moon not been full. Unfortunately though it was still so dark that her brother, who had been leading the way didn't notice that they had come upon a the very game they were out to hunt, a female Black Bear. Her brother tried to stay calm and quiet telling her to start slowly backing away. Faye had been somewhat behind anyway because as the moon had risen she started to feel strange, every time she came into direct moonlight she could feel something pulse through her body. Her brothers hushed words and gentle movements did nothing to sooth the bear, she angrily roared at him and swatted him with her paw tossing him into a nearby tree. Suddenly it was as if Faye knew exactly what to do, as the bear stalked over to her brother she raised her bow and pulled the arrow back then let it fly.
Image
The shot was an instant kill as the arrow miraculously found it's way straight to the bears heart. After her astonishment wore off Faye rushed to her brothers side to assess the damage. He was bleeding badly but not so much so that he couldn't be moved. In an impressive feat of strength she lifted her brother into a bridal cary taking a moment to look at her surroundings. In an instant it was as if she knew exactly where she was and which direction her family's cabin was in. In a much shorter amount of time than it would normally take to get back, especially since she was carrying someone half a foot taller than her and nearly forty pounds heavier the she was, she found herself on the doorstep calling out to the others that she needed help.

They say it was the adrenaline that made her so strong and fast. That she acted the way she did to save her brothers life and in part she supposes it was true but Faye has felt different ever since that night and she has been able to things she never could before and there are things she can't explain. She's still an excellent shot and that goes for any weapon that passes through her hands, not just her bow. Her brothers even came up with a 'game' where they would blindfold her and stick earbuds in her ear then drive out into the wilderness taking many turns then doubling back several times before they would let her out and make her find her way home. Faye never lost her way.

Faye had practiced her new found abilities as often as she could wondering what the limitations were. It was only several days ago that a letter came in the mail for her. The sender claimed to know what was going on with her and they had the knowledge to train her to fully come into her powers which included the ability to control and turn into a wolf. At first she thought this person was crazy but the longer she thought about it the more she believed what the letter said, how'd id this stranger even know of her abilities in the first place? This is how Faye found herself at the mansion.

Kohl stayed silent as the guests arrived, ignoring the questions, mispronunciations and the curious stares. His gaze rested on every new arrival for a moment, taking in their attitude and judging, by their arrival, the difficulties he would have with training them. There were the shy ones that kept their eyes down and made for the corner and then there were the ones who strutted in with a cigarette in their hand. Kohl had never taken to smoking, perhaps it was his way of trying to preserve his body, or maybe it was just the smell of the things.

When he judged that the majority of the guests had arrived he stood, relishing the silence that his action caused. Every head turned in his direction - or at least every pair of eyes did. With a casual wave of his hand he froze the hand of the only remaining smoker, the craft goddess, her arm was free to move but her hand frozen in time and space. Similarly the cigarette was now held frozen and the smoke that drifted up from ithad ceased to move.

"If you would refrain from smoking inside by home, that would be appreciated." Kohl told her mildly, also including Warren who had recently put out his cigarette. He knew that manners had changed some in the odd thousand or so years since he had last met with his fellow deities so he forgave their lack of politeness at not asking. Still, he wouldn't unfreeze their arms until he had made sure that they would do as he asked.

From a door entered Heather and John, their arms laden with trays of food. They placed them on a central table in the drawing room before retreating back out. Kohl gave them a nod of thanks as they left then turned his attention back to the room.

"Now, I believe that you all are curious. Some of your letters may have been lacking in information." He addressed these words to everyone, slowly meeting everyone's gaze. "First, however I invite you to eat as I am sure you must be hungry."

Dominic chuckled at Warren and said, Fifteen it is, my friend. And I was about to ask about that, but that would explain it. Although, he said automatically, each cigarette takes roughly ten minutes off your life, nasty habit but hard to kick, I imagine. He shook his head slightly and said, a little embarrassed, Sorry, my advice seems to come out without meaning to sometimes. That's why I was good in Risk Assessment. He laughed at that, and his ears perked up at the mention of food. Fantastic! I haven't had a proper meal in a while, about a day now. Airline food is terrible, and rarely sustaining.

Since Kohl had invited them to eat, Dominic took a seat a little closer to the far end of the table. Not out of pure anti-social tendencies, but more so he could watch the entire spectrum of people that were gathered with him. It seems like there were all walks of life gathered, rich, poor, healthy looking and ill-favored people, extro and introverts. Are there really only fourteen of us? Good number though, twice seven and seven is a number I can work with, supposedly God's number, a heptagon is a seven-sided regular polygon... His mind trailed off into inane thoughts, and he toyed idly with his wineglass, wondering when and what the first course would be, and who his table mates would be. Much as he liked Warren, he didn't want to sit by him again, he wanted to meet the rest of the people he was with and garner as much knowledge on them as he could. Scientia est potentia, he murmured aloud, tracing the rim of his wineglass with a finger.

Summer, slightly insulted that Kohl ignored her, watched as he froze the smokers hands, her mind wondered around the room. What was everyone here for? As far as Summer could tell, everyone in here was normal, well normal enough. She observed more people entering the room and then food being brought in.

Summer wasn't hungry, although, she hadn't been hungry since her break up over the summer. She looked at the food and thought, 'Maybe I should just eat something.' Pushing herself off the seat, she wandered over to the table of food and picked out a mini salad, consisting of different lettuce types, carrot, tomato and cucumber. She went back to her seat and ate the salad slowly with her fingers.

"Now that we're all here, can you tell us why we're here?" She asked Kohl loudly, over the other voices in the room. She was growing a bit more impatient, her letter said there was work to be done and she was in her hard working season and it seemed he was procrastinating, it was the wrong season for that, that was the Winter season and it was only the Summer/Autumn transition. Kohl definitely invited Summer at the right time, especially if he wanted her to work hard, Autumn was the season.

Kaze took a step back when the door suddenly opened. Standing in front of him was an older man, a butler or servant of some sort and the teenager hastily gave the other man a half-bow, speaking hesitantly "...Ehm... I received a letter from Nos-san several days ago... and well, is this his house?" He fidgeted under the man's scrutiny but sighed in relief when the man nodded and stepped aside to allow him to go in. "...Yes, young sir... Please come in, I shall show you your room. I'm John." Apparently, this man could speak English. 'A good thing, really, I don't know what to do if he only speaks Swedish' Kaze thought with a shrug and came inside the mansion.

"Wow" This was the second time Kaze whispered that word but really, there was no better way to describe the mansion. It was huge, way bigger than his own house. The people that had decorated this house obviously knew what they were doing because everything was nice in the cozy sort of way. Kaze got the impression that he was in a very old-fashioned person's house and couldn't help but ogle at everything. "Wow indeed, young sir... Please give me your suitcases, I will take them to your room. Come with me" Kaze nodded dumbly. Everything seemed so surreal he had thought he was dreaming. However, that was impossible. 'This is too unreal that my widest imagination can't think of this so... so it must be real' Kaze thought and followed the man, feeling like he was a peasant boy in a magical castle.

The trip to his room had been short and quiet. Neither of them had known what to say and when Kaze had questioned the man, John, he could only receive short answers. Apparently, the man didn't like making small talks. "Yes, young sir. The Master of this mansion is Mister Kohl Nos", "Young sir, that question isn't for me to answer. You have to ask the Master himself"... Kaze felt his curiosity perked every greater than before. Exactly who was this Kolh Nos? And would he be able to tell Kaze about his destiny? His true destiny?

"This is your room, young sir." John said and opened the door for him and Kaze had to refrain himself from gasping out loud again. This room was way bigger than his own room. The wall was painted a soft blue color. There was a large size bed and a door leaded to what Kaze assumed was the bathroom. Was this man, this Kohl Nos, a millionaire? The man waited patiently for Kaze to regain his bearing. If he was displeased with the manner Kaze was showing, he made no move of telling Kaze to stop ogling nor did his voice betray anything. "Young sir, the Master is waiting for you in the drawing room. I shall wait for you out there until you are ready." Once again, Kaze just nodded without saying anything and he heard the door closed behind him, indicated that the man had left him alone just like he had said.

Being left alone, Kaze began to let his curiosity take over. He examined every inch of the room, laughing in delight when he spotted something strange or new. Putting his own suitcase on the bed, Kaze began to unpack. Humming a cheerful song, the teenager suddenly remembered that it was time for him to call his parents. They must have worried themselves sicked by now. Taking out his own phone, Kaze began to dial. He had two worried parents to sooth.

The call to his parents had been short, much shorter than Kaze had expected. He didn’t have anything much to say and except telling that he was fine and the letter hadn't been some elaborate prank. He promised he would call again after he had some rest and hung up the phone. Taking a quick shower, Kaze felt extremely relieved. Kaze opened the door and saw John was still there, waiting for him. Silently, he followed the man into a big room where several other people had been there. They were all strangers, no one Kaze could recognize, some much older than him, some only seemed to be in their early twenties. Maybe he really was the youngest person here.

Sitting down not too far from the group but not too closed either, Kaze looked around, spotting a very familiar man. He didn't know this man, hadn't seen him before, not even in his strange dreams but he had something that Kaze recognized. The teenager just didn't know what. However, he kept getting the feeling that he could at least trust this man if he couldn't trust anyone else in this room. Curling up in a comfortable looking chair, Kaze just listened and hummed occasionally but didn't offer any of his opinions. It didn't really seem necessary. The card game between the men had been entertaining but Kaze didn't pay much attention to it, nor did he make any moves to introduce himself like some people in the room like to do.

When the familiar man, Kohl Nos, invited the group to have something to eat, Kaze's stomach gave a loud grunt, agreed with the whole idea whole-heartedly. He stood up and took a plate before feeling it with various but healthy food. His mother had taught him how to balance his meals so he could have enough nutrition. He sat down again and looked at his food. Hesitantly picked up his fork, Kaze ate his meal. It was delicious, far more than Kaze had expected. However, it seemed that what he had expected didn't seem to apply in this house. 'There are thirteen other people in this room, are they all gods and goddesses?' Kaze wondered, absently chewed his food.

"Now that we're all here, can you tell us why we're here?"

A woman asked and Kaze found his attention shifted on her for the first time since the whole thing started. He nodded and decided to speak up. After all, every problem could be solved during a meal... or at least, that was how Kaze was accustomed to. He shifted to be in a more comfortable position and spoke up right after the woman had finished talking "Oh yes, that's right, Nos-san. In my letter, you mentioned that I was a god or am a god or something like that. You also said that this was a gathering kind of thing. May I ask what do you mean by that? Does it have anything to do with the display of strange things you just did?" Looking around, Kaze flashed everyone a bright smile "Ohayo, I'm Kaze Williams... Nice to meet all of you"

Her stare eventually drifted away from the thin, young man and back towards the group of people that was quickly turning into a crowd. She observed each person as inconspicuously as possible, the smoke drifting up from her cigarette casting a haze over her vision. The waving hand caught her attention, and she turned her head to look towards the man she overheard calling himself Warren.

"Thanks again for the light, by the way."

“Yeah..” she paused, lifting her hand to take one last puff from her cigarette, “no prob-“

Her lips, awkwardly prepared for the cigarette to enter her mouth, would remain unsatisfied. Raising her eyebrows in confusion, she looked to her arm, which was stuck in its bent form. She stared at the red tip of the cigarette, and traced it up to the smoke which was now still.

"If you would refrain from smoking inside by home, that would be appreciated."

She turned her head quickly to the voice, her eyes landing on Kohl. He had now succeeded in getting her undivided attention. She did not bother to fight the force holding her arm, because it was evident there would be no use. She complied with a nod, and as she did so her arm dropped quickly to her side. Unsure of what just occurred, she gave no remark. She was now curious. Not afraid, not frightened. Curious. Before she came here, she was pretty certain it was a sweepstakes win of some sort she might have entered in on a random poll months prior. The letter she received was not detailed at all. A few words of a warm summoning, and then there was the plane ticket to Sweden. The one thing that confused her the most, but she ended up convincing herself to come. Besides, what did she really have to lose? A few vintage radios and dust covered toasters. She swallowed every How the?! What the hell?! Wait, how did you?!, and took a deep breath. Invited to eat, her knees could nearly buckle as she made her way to the large table. She was hungry, and the last cigarette she would probably have for the day had left her mouth dry as well. She pushed her cigarette butt down onto a coaster, putting it out before reaching for a plate. She only placed a few fresh cut fruit on her place, and went for the nearest available chair.

She sat her plate down in front of an empty chair, to the left of a young man who appeared to be the youngest one here. She sat, reaching for her fork.

"Now that we're all here, can you tell us why we're here?"

She looked up to the girl who asked, her eyes then briefly turning to the two others who entered the room.

"Oh yes, that's right, Nos-san. In my letter, you mentioned that I was a god or am a god or something like that--"

Her fork scraped her plate loudly as she turned her gaze to the boy next to her. The rest of his words were dismissed as she collected her thoughts, still keeping her eyes on him. After he paused, he spoke again--

"Ohayo, I'm Kaze Williams... Nice to meet all of you"

"A god.." she spoke out after Kaze's greeting nearly cutting him off, looking away from the dark haired boy and up to Kohl, who was at the farther end of the table, still standing, "You don't hear that everyday, now do you." she paused, lifting her fork to fetch a strawberry and as she lifted it to her mouth an chewed, she continued on, "I'm not sure what letter this young man received, but mine certainly didn't say anything about being a.. god."

The statement even sounded odd leaving her mouth, but she left room for the possibility of it all. Afterall, her arm and cigarette had just been, to what it seemed, frozen in time. She kept her eyes fixed Kohl, awaiting an explanation she knew he was about to deliver.

Kohl nodded his head towards Summer, acknowledging her question. He had to admit that her personality had changed little since the last time Kohl had seen the season goddess. He had to remember that it was turning to autumn, the time of year where the goddess usually became a lot more focused.

"Oh yes, that's right, Nos-san. In my letter, you mentioned that I was a god or am a god or something like that--" That came from Kaze, the youngest amongst them. Kohl smiled towards the young man and again nodded.

"Let me introduce you all." Kohl began, gazing around the room. He knew for some this information would be surprising, but it was who they are. They would have to accept it sooner or later. Kohl would make sure that they did.
"Lucia Summer, Goddess of Light. Ira St. Luca, the God of Night. Adrien Moran, the God of Death." As he spoke each name he cast a hand towards each individual, watching carefully as each man or woman heard their title - some for the first time, "Mia Amaro, the Goddess of Love. Kaze Williams, Storm God. Flora Trinity, Goddess of the Earth. Dominic Chance Alea, God of Decision. Suriah Lin, Goddess of Craft." He drew a breath, his hand coming up to brush through his hair. He turned his eyes to Warren, "The God of Clairvoyance, Warren Lane. Faye Holloway, Goddess of the Hunt. Goddess of Dreams, Faith Mackenzie. Todd Kitcheos, The Trickster God" He finished by turning his face towards Summer and introduced her as, "The Goddess of Seasons."

His gaze rested a moment on each member of their pantheon before introducing himself, "And I am Kohl Nos, the God of Time."

"You are, as am I, the reincarnations of ancient and powerful beings. In past lives we have been called gods; Apollo, Thor, Loki, Venus to name a few." He paused, gauging their reactions to his words. Some, such as Lucia, had already been told that they were reincarnations, while others had simply been sent a letter with minimal information. "I have asked you all here because it is time for you to wake. I know that all of you are aware to some degree of your powers. I will help you learn to use those powers and I will help you unlock your full potential."

He stopped talking. He had had years to practice and think on what he would say in this situation. Now he hesitated, he did not want to overwhelm his guests. He needed them to understand that he was here to help them and that they would need their powers when Chaos arrived. He also knew that to reveal the impending arrival of Chaos might scare more than a few of them. No, he would ease them into it. He would build their confidence first and then explain to them the threat that was Chaos.

"I want you all to know that I am here to help each and every one of you. Your powers are no secret to me and neither are your pasts." He looked at them all earnestly, "You must all trust me."

With that he took a step back and waited for their responses and their questions.

Image

Lucia, who hadn't eaten since breakfast and had eagerly grabbed several slices, listened to Kohl's introductions with a half eaten slice halfway to her mouth.

Her eyes flicked from face to face as he gave their names and their god or goddess title. She had been told by Kohl that she was a goddess, but it hadn't actually meant anything to her at first. It had been just a word at the time. Now, here, surrounded by all the others she couldn't help but feel the full weight of the title and what it meant. They were gods and goddess.

And then there was Kohl Nos. He knew so much about them all and would help them to discover the full potential of their powers. Lucia remembered the lights that had exploded from her all those years ago, she had never been able to replicate that amount of power. With his help she could. The prospect thrilled her more than she could say and Lucia knew that she would stay here and train with Kohl until she had learned everything she could about her power.

Summer looked at Kaze, her eyebrows furrowed and her smile receding. 'What did he mean by that?' Summer thought to herself, bringing her hand up to her face and started rubbing her chin, her other arm on her hip and her eyes on the floor. Then Kohl spoke up, introducing everyone as Gods and Goddesses, he hadn't mentioned her name and when she looked up, he was looking at her. "The Goddess of Seasons."

Summer kept looking at Kohl, who continued on with his speech, her mind was racing that she didn't really pay any attention. 'Is that why my personality changes so much each season? My talents as well.' Her mind cleared just as Kohl finished. "You must all trust me." That made summer uneasy, 'why must we trust you?' Was something she wanted to say but she held her tongue, she had pestered him enough and her mind was elsewhere.

Still confused and trying to clear things up in her head, so many questions and whether this was real or not, Summer decided being outside would be best, it would be cooler and quieter. She lifted herself from the seat and briskly made her way outside. Outside she noticed a large tree and decided to go sit underneath it for awhile, just to clear her head. As she neared the tree, she noticed a few leaves turning brown and crisp before falling from the tree, they were suddenly blown towards her with a weak gust of wind and danced around her before falling. "Okay, that was weird." She said, her arms up tight against her chest and her hands clenched.

Dominic listened to Kohl speak, and his ears perked up at the mention of his name. Flora Trinity, Goddess of the Earth. Dominic Chance Alea, God of Decision. Suriah Lin, Goddess of Craft. God of Decisions?... he mused silently. Now wouldn't that explain some things. Kohl spoke once more, "I want you all to know that I am here to help each and every one of you. Your powers are no secret to me and neither are your pasts." He looked at them all earnestly, "You must all trust me." Dominic noticed that he was slightly preoccupied as he spoke, and the feeling of foreboding that had plagued him all day increased dramatically. Dominic stared at Kohl, trying to figure out why he felt this way, he decided that Kohl was holding something back, but if he confronted him about it, it would go badly for everyone else. But, he thought, someone else might certainly be astute enough to ask the wrong questions. Maybe I should just ask about it....

Hey Warren, Dominic shouted in the sudden quiet, You owe me fifteen bucks! He chuckled slightly at that, then sobered up as he addressed Kohl, Mr. Nos, you address us as gods. Now, that may explain a few things for people, it certainly does for me. But how do we unlock those powers? And to what should we use them for? The world nowadays has little use for gods such as we are. There has to be a purpose for our being here. And my guess is it's important. He looked around at his fellow peo-gods, he had to think of them as gods now. You probably don't want to scare us, Dominic said, But looking around here, we're adults here. And if you're to believed, we're also gods. We should be more than capable of handling it. He looked around at everyone, and made eye contact with the people watching him. What does everyone think? Should we wait and hear when we have a little more experience with what we just heard? Or should we just take the whole dose of medicine at once, good or bad? Dominic looked around once more, then said, All in favor of hearing it now? He raised his hand.

Faye was late. She stood around the luggage carousel with all the other passengers from her flight and fidgeted from foot to foot as she waited for her luggage to make it to her. She hadn't brought much only once rather large suitcase and her hunting bow which had it's own separate case. When they finally came her way she snatched them up immediately and jogged to the exit.

Looking up and down the drive she spotted an open taxi with the driver standing outside of it just waiting. Quickly she made her way over to him and he helped her put her suitcase in the trunk while she opted to keep the bow with her. She was nervous and felt much better having the weapon close to her than in a trunk. Taking a letter out of her pocket she showed the cabbie where she needed to go and he smiled brightly at her giving a nod.

Faye sat back and gave a sigh glancing down at the letter in her hand. What the hell am I doing here? Traveling to a different continent on the other side of the world all for some suspicious letter. When the letter had arrived Faye had been staying out in her family's cabin trying to hone her skills. After a long day out in the wilderness she had returned to the cabin to find the letter stuck in the door near the knob.

After reading it she had immediately thought that one of her brothers had been out there and was playing a trick on her but then looking over it again she noted that the handwriting was far too neat for any of her four brothers to have written it, they never were that good at cursive. With that realization Faye was suddenly on alert, someone had been out to her cabin while she was gone and left the note. Setting her bow down on the porch quietly she drew her hunting knife from it's sheath.

Slowly she opened the door to the home, which was never locked unless no one was staying there at the time, and treaded softly through the house. There was nothing out of place and no telltale signs of a stranger being in the house like muddy scuff prints across the hardwood floors or an unknown shoe print in the carpet but she searched the entire cabin anyways. After she was satisfied that the mysterious delivery person had not entered her home Faye went around and locked all the doors and windows, just in case.

She had stayed at the cabin for a few more days before the feeling that she should be on her way to meet this Mr. Nos won her over. Luckily Faye had already had a Passport because of her familys favorite pastime of hunting often took them into Canada so she only needed to book her flight.

The taxi coming to a stop brought her back to the present and she looked out the window at the mansion. "Why would anyone need such a large house?" she wondered aloud. Paying for her fair she made her way up the stairs, luggage in hand, to the door which was still partially opened. Coming from a relatively small town where open doors were an invitation Faye let herself in.

There was only one other person in the parlor and the retreating back of another into a room that, by the noise coming from it, was full of other people. Faye looked at the red haired woman taking in the anxious look on her face and nodded her greeting "I suppose you got a letter too. Are we meeting Mr. Nos in that room?" she asked pointing to the room that man had just disappeared into.

Kohl noted Summer stand and leave but didn't say anything, evidently finding out she was a deity was more than had previously occurred to her. He also heard Flora’s nervous words: “So... you’re a stalker.”
Fighting back any sign of impatience Kohl turned towards the girl and shook his head.
"No, I am not a stalker." He replied evenly. He would have continued if not for Dominic's more pressing questions.

Kohl shifted so that he was facing the whole room, "There has to be a purpose for our being here. And my guess is it's important ... You probably don't want to scare us, ... But looking around here, we're adults here. And if you're to believed, we're also gods. We should be more than capable of handling it."

Yes, they were gods, but that didn't make them anymore likely to stay once he told them about Chaos. He remembered the last time, when he awoke and discovered that they would have to use their powers to stop Chaos from destroying the world. There had been no easing into the subject, no time to gain confidence as a deity. There had only been a mad scramble to learn what they could and to convince everyone to stay. A surprising amount of the newly awoken deities had baulked at the thought of facing Chaos, how did you face something you knew nothing about?

'But, they did stay and fight.' Kohl reminded himself.

He glanced around the room. perhaps the only way to find out would be to tell them. He took a breath, and spoke,
"I can help you to improve your powers, give you ideas of what you are capable of. As your powers improve so will your memories." Kohl began. Their memories would be what further helped with the use of their powers. Kohl also suspected that just by being near so many deities they would all discover what they were able to do much more quickly than if they had stayed separated.
"As to the reason I have asked you here, you are right. You are all adults and we are all equals. I only hold back out of consideration for you." He paused briefly before continuing, trying to determine the best way to phrase this.
"There is an entity known as Chaos. It is the reason that we are what we are. Chaos is approaching now. Its return is what has awoken the gods within you. We have defeated it a number of times in the past and we must defeat it again or it will destroy all we care about. That is why I have gathered you all here, to teach you to use your powers so that when Chaos arrives we will be ready to defend the Earth."

Kohl stopped talking and studied the faces of his comrades. He thought that, perhaps, he had been a little bit dramatic. But his words couldn't be taken back now. All he could do was wait and hope that this news didn't scare anyone off.

As the introductions took place, Adrien glanced at each person in turn. They didn't seem to have much in common, some in their late teens and others already past thirty, men and women, extroverts gladly shouting out questions, introverts shrinking into the shadows(literally in the case of one young man who had had shadows swirling around him). The only linking factor was the word of one man, a proclamation that they weren't ordinary humans but the reincarnations of gods and goddesses.

He hadn't thought about it before, about the god he supposedly was. But now, faced with the reality of the situation, the fact that he was the God of Death made his mouth tug into a frown. Of course it had to be death, the most unpleasant job imaginable. But it did add a bit of credibility to Mr. Nos' story- if he'd just been having a (very expensive) laugh at their expense, he would hardly go around handing out unpleasant deities, especially given how much he knew about the recipients. It still, however, did not change the fact that he had no desire to develop his supposed powers, the gain mastery over something that he'd lived his entire life without. Their host spoke pretty words about trust, but why should they trust him? So far all he had done was tell them how much he knew about them, keeping almost everything about himself under lock and key. It hardly inspired trust. And why now? If he'd been following them for so long, had known what or who they were, why wait until now to act on it?

The others seemed just as preoccupied with other matters. One girl stood up and simply left the room as if she couldn't quite handle even being in the same area as the rest of them for the moment. The silence left in the wake of Kohl's impromptu speech and the young lady's exit was broken by the man sitting two seats away from him, shouting something bizarre about another guest owing him fifteen dollars. It was almost disturbing how quickly they had all accepted the idea of being all-powerful beings, himself included.

The man continued on, demanding answers to how they would learn to use their powers and for what reason. While Adrien couldn't care less about the first, the question of why was an alluring one. However, as much as he wanted the questioned answer, he wouldn't raise his hand like a child at primary school. Instead, he turned his gaze on their host, misty gray eyes finally interested in something the Time God had to say. His intense gaze only wavered once, when he glanced at the redhead- Flora Trinity, his mind corrected- asking if he was a stalker. His lips quirked upwards once more in amusement before the almost smile vanished. Stalker seemed to fit Mr. Nos quite well.

Then, the much anticipated answers finally came. Adrien shifted uncomfortably in his seat at the mention of memories returning. He could accept that he was some sort of reincarnation, or at least wouldn't openly contest it. But the idea of someone else's memories flooding into his mind, maybe masking his current memories completely, perhaps another personality covering his existing one, the very idea almost made him sick. He was Adrien Renard Moran, not some long-forgotten God of Death. He didn't need someone else crawling around in his head, even if he had technically once been that someone else.

He had to agree with the older man who spoke next- no matter how obnoxious his phrasing had been. The grande révélation was hardly stunning. It had sounded more like the plot of a children's novel than a dramatic plot twist in Adrien's already admittedly bizarre life. Oh, it was troubling indeed, the idea that this rag-tag group of strangers must band together to save all that they held near and dear, but the dramatic and vague way in that Mr. Nos had informed them had not added to the seriousness of the situation.

"Quit beating around the bush and tell us what we need to know and we'll make this work, I don't want to hear any of this 'when Chaos arrives' bullshit. You're the Time God, yes? Tell us when our buddy Chaos is showing up to the party. Months from now? Years? You called us all here for a reason, Nos. I don't know about the rest of everyone here, these other gods, but if you want us to trust you, don't skirt around the edges with this."

"I must agree," the Frenchman finally spoke up, voice quiet but words sharp. "For a matter so serious, an idea of the time-frame you are giving us to prepare would be appreciated."

Kaze listened to the man's words - Kohl Nos with wide, disbelieving eyes. Even if he knew he was strange, hearing it from a total stranger was another whole different thing. Kaze raised his hand and bit his nail, a bad habit he was trying to get rid of but it seemed totally appropriate in this situation. So, these people, all around him, were gods and goddesses, just like him. While Kaze found the idea hard to swallow, he had to applause the man, the Time God, wasn't it, for the way he told the idea.

Another thought struck Kaze violently. What about his family? What would become of his parents? It was true that he hated his normal life, that he wanted to be someone different, wanted to have an interesting life but could he sacrifice his parents' love to do that? If he embraced this God side, would he be able to protect his family? How could he do that? Suddenly, the idea of being a god wasn't that great anymore. He remembered his parents' teary eyes as they said goodbye in the airport. What if that was the last time he could see them? No, no, no, he wouldn't accept that.

Kaze's hands clenched subconsciously and he gritted his teeth. He wouldn't leave his parents and his family even if it meant he had to go to university and have a normal life. Kohl Nos began to explain some more things, namely, an evil being called Chaos. The name didn't ring anything but by the way the atmosphere became tensed and heavy at the mention of the name, Kaze guessed it wasn't good. Then, another news came crashing down. He would regain his memory as a god. 'Does that mean I will lose my memory as...me? I don't want to become a god and forget about Kaa-san and Tou-san?! Hell, I don't want to join in this fight at all' Kaze thought, fidgeting in his seat nervously. He didn't like the sound of this.

As more and more persons began to speak up, asking about the time and how they would learn their powers, Kaze's nervousness grew. They all accepted everything so fast, himself include. It was like... they had been through this before but that wasn't possible, was it? Nothing made sense anymore. A strong gust of wind blew inside the room as Kaze began to have the sign of a panic attack but he quickly controlled himself. 'Don't panic, Kaze...You can do this' He thought, straightening himself.

A man, Warren the God of Clairvoyance, spoke, his voice was harsh and forceful. However, Kaze agreed with the man completely. He couldn't allow himself to trust this Time God if he withheld information from them. Because he had taken them from their normal lives and shoved them into this mess, he had the responsibility to tell them more about this. "Agreed, For a matter so serious, an idea of the time-frame you are giving us would be appreciated." Another man, Adrien the Death God, said, voice was heavy with the accent. Kaze made up his mind.

Raising his hand nervously but then seemed to regain his self-confidence at the last minutes, Kaze spoke, voice loud and clear "Hai, Warren-san, and Adrien-san are correct. You take us away from our normal lives, Kohl-san... The least you can do is not withholding the information from us. Yes, some of us are very scared and uncertain but we want to hear the truth. Trust cannot be built on half-truth and uncertainty. Also, I have another question I'd like to ask, Kohl-san. What will happen to our families? Won't they become a good target for this Chaos-teme you're talking about? How can we protect them? I... I don't want my family to get hurt." His voice faltered at the end of the sentence though he still held his ground firmly.

Kohl sighed, again. It seemed he was doing that quite a lot recently. It also seemed that his explanation wasn't going down too well. He should have expected this really, it was a lot to drop on anyone.

I don't know about the rest of everyone here, these other gods, but if you want us to trust you, don't skirt around the edges with this." Warren's remarks came with force, he clearly wanted to know more and he wanted it now.

"For a matter so serious, an idea of the time-frame you are giving us would be appreciated." This agreement came from Adrian. Kohl held his hands up to stall any further questions.

"I am not trying to be cagey or avoid anything. My role as the Time God does not give me the ability to predict when something will happen. I only know that Chaos is coming because I can feel it. You can also feel it, even if you don't know it yet." - Kohl cringed inwardly at the vague wording and, knowing that it wouldn't satisfy the group, he continued, "At best Chaos is a year away, at worst a month. I fear that he will arrive sooner rather than late."

It had always been hard to predict Chaos' arrival. Kohl, and the other deities, had always been able to sense his nearness in the past. He had no doubt that when these deities understood their powers better they would also be able to feel the wrongness that was Chaos.
He also hated how imprecise his guess of Chaos' arrival was. Time was different with Chaos, it seemed to slip and slide along its lengths. That was why he needed the other deities to stay and to believe him, he couldn't defeat the monster on his own.

"Perhaps I moved too late in gathering you here and revealing the truth, but any earlier and you all might have not have been awake yet. As for 'underwhelming'," Kohl gazed at Warren, "This isn't some movie written for your entertainment, this is real. You can treat it as some child's story but Chaos will come. Last time it nearly wiped out all life on Earth."

Kohl could still see it now, a thundering cloud of nothing crawling across the sky. In the middle of the vacuum was Chaos, its tendrils snaking out in an attempt to swat away the deities that attack it.

"How do we defeat Chaos?" Lucia asked from her position on the couch. She had discarded her plate of half eaten slices as Kohl had explained their purpose. "What happens if we can't?"

"We weaken him with our powers, corner him and suck him of his energy, then we throw him back into the depths of space." Kohl answered, his mind recalling the last battle with Chaos they had had. "We cut and shock and attack until he is all but powerless. If we can't defeat him than we will all die."

He didn't see the point in softening his next sentence. They needed to know that this was serious.
"Every one of us is needed to defeat Chaos. It isn't a matter of leaving it for others to do, if we don't work together to drive him back then the whole world will be consumed." He looked at Kaze, noting the breeze that had started to blow in and smiled sadly at the young boy, "Your families are safe as long as you are alive. Chaos' first target will be us. It will only be after Chaos has defeated us - if he defeats us - that he will target the rest of the world."

A few more unfamiliar faces began to emerge into the room. For now the woman remained quiet even as several questions were being asked. Perhaps it was time for Kohl Nos to finally start dishing out answers in the event of pacifying all of his guests. Mia did a metal count of the people gathered around. More than she would have expected, in fact at the time Kohl showed up to her home he had only mentioned 'others'. So the number of the other participants were unknown until now or so she thought. There could have been more who were a bit more cautious and decided not to come or this could just be the final number.

A servant was just about to pass by the woman but Mia quickly grabbed their attention. The servant glanced down to his tray and handed her a glass of red wine to which Mia smiled and thanked the man. Holding the tall wine glass, Mia swirled the crimson colored liquid around the glass before finally indulging in a gulp. It tasted quite marvelous. Aged. That much she could tell. Her thirst had now been quenched, but her thirst for answers were still unfulfilled. The brunette didn't have much of an appetite, even as dozens of trays with delectable amounts of food passed about.

Just then Kohl Nos began to announce and introduce the titles and names of everyone, including herself.

"Lucia Summer: Goddess of Light. Ira St. Luca: the God of Night. Adrien Moran: the God of Death., Mia Amaro: the Goddess of Love. Kaze Williams: Storm God. Flora Trinity: Goddess of the Earth. Dominic Chance Alea: God of Decision. Suriah Lin: Goddess of Craft. The God of Clairvoyance: Warren Lane. Faye Holloway: Goddess of the Hunt. Goddess of Dreams: Faith Mackenzie. Todd Kitcheos: The Trickster God. The Goddess of Seasons."

Her eyes wondered over to the young woman who was introduced as Lucia Summer. A goddess of Light certainly seemed to fit her. Not that it didn't matter to her, there were just a few that really caught her attention. The boy Ira St. Luca, the God of Night. Not tat he completely adjusted to is title it still interested her. Adrien Moran, the God of Death. Something she had longed wondered about. Death was one of those things that most people endured yet no one knew what to expect when it happened. Did that mean he did? With his title concerning death, her mind urged her to keep her distance yet the curious side told her to keep an eye out for him. Mia had hoped that her own reincarnation didn't draw much attention. For all she knew, it would only make her sound like an insatiable being of carnal desires. But it wasn't who she was.

"I must agree," Another male voice sounded off who turned out to be Adrien. "For a matter so serious, an idea of the time-frame you are giving us to prepare would be appreciated." He continued.

"Hai, Warren-san, and Adrien-san are correct. I... I don't want my family to get hurt."

The awkward young man had a valid point. If any members of her family were to get hurt then she wouldn't have ever allowed herself to come here. Mia brought her cyan hues back to Kohl... hoping that he would provide the answer she was looking for.

"At best Chaos is a year away, at worst a month. I fear that he will arrive sooner rather than late."

Would that be enough time....? There was a huge difference between a year and one month. Certainly he had to understand.

"Every one of us is needed to defeat Chaos. It isn't a matter of leaving it for others to do, if we don't work together to drive him back then the whole world will be consumed. Your families are safe as long as you are alive. Chaos' first target will be us. It will only be after Chaos has defeated us - if he defeats us - that he will target the rest of the world."

But who is Chaos?

"This Chaos character... Is he like us? A reincarnation? Does he take the form of a human? Or something less appeasing?" For the first time, Mia allowed her soft celestial voice to be heard throughout the room. That or those were the questions she desired to ask the most although there were more circling her mind. "What does he want, overall?" She concluded, her gaze slightly falling off towards the floor.

It was a a lot to take in all at once, but she held back each urge to jump in the conversation. Instead, she pressed her back against her chair and sunk down. Dropping her fork quietly, she folded her arms under her bust. And listened. Something she was tremendously good at it. Not much of the talker, but quite the listener. Her eyes looked to faces as each were introduced. By name, and then by their title. Were they all truly gods and goddesses? Reincarnations of the past? Was there really an evil entity known as Chaos? If this information was presented to anyone of the ordinary, of course it would sound like complete and utter bullshit. But Suriah was no one ordinary. And she knew this very well. It was all just a matter of accepting that. Accepting this.

"--If we can't defeat him than we will all die."

She looked away from Kohl, and around the room. Some sat back like her, quiet and observant. Some on the edge of their seats. She straightened her back and pulled her elbows to the table, her forehead now resting on the tips of her fingers as she stared down to her plate.

"Our lives.. everything we know.." she paused, shaking her head as she looked up from the table and to Kohl, "-as simple as it sounds, to gain our memories back as these gods or goddesses, and then strengthen our abilities and powers in order to defeat this.. Chaos.. it can not be so simple in the end of it all. All that we have built.." looking over to Kaze, she remembered his concern about his family, "-and all those that we love.. it will all change. You can not sit here and tell me we suit up for the part, kick some ass and then go back to our lives as if nothing has changed. If we are guaranteed to change, then so will everything we have ever known.." her tone was increasing with concern, the volume increasing. She was sure it wasn't the concern for her own outcome in the end, but instead a concern for everyone else. "What happens if we do defeat Chaos? Do I retire this role as your goddess of craft and just go back to the reality I have known for 29 years.. or is there much more to this when it is over and done.."

Her voice trailed off, her eyes still fixated on Kohl. Suriah had absolutely nothing to loose. But there were 12 other lives in this room who possibly did.

Summer returned to the building shortly after leaving, a leaf still stuck in her hair. As Summer stepped into the room, she ran a hand through her hair and pulled out a red leaf, her face turning red as she did. She looked at the small red leaf and started spinning it, wondering what just happened outside. She shrugged and pocketed the leaf before wiping her hands together as if to remove any loose remaining dirt from the ground. Not returning to the room, she noticed a plant pot with green leaves but as she approached the reddened and crisped. She walk up to the plant and started to inspect the leaves, not realising she could be seen from the room if anyone looked outside the door.

She dropped the leaves and turned to reenter the room, she looked up at Kohl and then round the rest of the group, it looked as if she missed something important, something about why they were here. "What did I miss?" She said, her eyes darting from person to person, with her arms crossed. She looked to Kohl, he seemed to have all the answers at the moment. "Well?" She asked, shrugging when no one responded.

Dominic could see Kohl was getting a little frustrated with the lack of cooperation he was receiving from everyone. He opened his mouth to speak, but as he did, a burst of understanding hit him. He saw, as Kohl saw, the battle against Chaos, and he saw, that if he didn't speak in Kohl's defense right now, that people would leave, go back to their complacent lives, and Chaos would sweep over the world and eradicate them all like so many vermin. Sure, some would fight back, and maybe even a few would awaken before they were killed, but Dominic saw that if they didn't work as a whole, they would be lost.

His flash of insight lasted less than a second, but it left him wide-eyed and gasping for air. As people looked at him with varying expressions, he stood up and walked to stand beside Kohl. To him, he murmured, I've seen where our choices bring us, if we don't believe your story. And I, for one, can't sit idly by. He looked from Nos back to the crowd and said, Look. You don't know me from Adam. Hell, we're all strangers here. But we have powers, yes? Or abilities? We each have a little something that makes us out of the ordinary. He paused and looked around. Well, mine is seeing the decisions people make. And I've watched what happens here if we blow off Kohl as a lunatic. He stopped here again too, briefly glanced at Kohl and then plowed ahead. He's right about Chaos. And he's been sugarcoating it. It's...bad. Bad enough that I'm scared of what's going to happen. And not much frightens me like that.

Dominic thought as he addressed everyone, Please, you guys have to believe it. It's bad. We all need to be in this together... I know we have no proof other than talk and speculation. But what does it cost us to find out about ourselves? If we truly are gods and have done this before,Please don't be lying about that...then we'll remember how important it really is. He folded his arms in front of him and said, I can't speak for anyone here, and I'm not going to try to. But this really is important. I'm a Risk Assessment Manager, I know about taking stupid chances that won't pay off. He took a deep breath and spoke a little more subdued. This isn't a stupid chance. This is our ONLY chance. He put his hand on Kohl's shoulder for a moment and smiled a little at him, then went back to his seat and took a long draught of his wine.

Kohl's words woke something up inside Kaze's mind. It had been a long time since he felt this way he had almost forgotten what this emotion was called. He needed to do this in order to protect his family. He was needed to protect this world. Hadn't Kaze always dreamed of being a hero when he was younger? Hadn't he wanted to be a secret agent and save the day? Hadn't he locked himself up in the library just to try and imagine all those things happened to him? Now, here he was, practically being offered this chance without having to do anything in return except maybe saving the world and he was hesitate? He should go and live his dream. His parents would be proud of him.

However, before he could say anything, the other members of the group had fired several questions at the Time God. All of those questions were interesting and Kaze had to admit he wanted to hear Kohl answered them. It would clear up many things. Did he have any other responsibilities except defeating this Chaos? Was it his sole purpose to wake up his power, defeat an evil being and then just... go back to how he used to be? A nobody? A boy that was just too imaginative? A god that was useless after finishing his purpose? Somehow, the idea of going back to how it used to be didn't seem very appealing anymore. In fact, it sounded down right scary.

"Look. You don't know me from Adam. Hell, we're all strangers here. But we have powers, yes? Or abilities? We each have a little something that makes us out of the ordinary. Well, mine is seeing the decisions people make. And I've watched what happens here if we blow off Kohl as a lunatic. He's right about Chaos. And he's been sugarcoating it. It's...bad. Bad enough that I'm scared of what's going to happen. And not much frightens me like that."

The God of Decisions, Dominic said and looked at everyone to emphasis his point. Kaze paid the other man full attention, subconsciously knew that this one could be trusted. It was strange, how he seemed to feel that he could trust this group if he tried enough, could love this group as his own brothers and sisters in arm if he looked deep into their bonds, could die for them like he would die for his parents. It was strange, how this group of people felt so familiar and yet at the same time, total strangers to him. Would he be able to do this? 'Well, I'm Leo...I'm said to be as brave as a lion...even though I'm a little lazy' He thought with a small smile. That settled it then, he would join this group, even though he couldn't see the future and couldn't predict what his decision would bring. However, Kaze did this for his parents, for the people he loved and for this group, yes, for this group of total strangers, of this Time God whose words Kaze didn't even know were true or not.

"But this really is important. I'm a Risk Assessment Manager, I know about taking stupid chances that won't pay off. This isn't a stupid chance. This is our ONLY chance." Dominic said, and put a hand on Kohl's shoulder, obviously supporting the other man. Maybe it was time for Kaze to make his decision known. The teenager swallowed. He was just a little brat, far younger than everyone in this room. People wouldn't take him seriously. However, Kaze would be damned if he didn't make himself known. Even if this was a wrong choice, he would stick with it till the end...because... because that was what his Tou-san would do.

"I'm still young... youngest in this group as far as I can tell..." Kaze began, looking around. "I have lovely parents and I have been protected for all my entire life. I have never known how bad life can be. I'm spoiled in many ways. However, I love my family from the bottom of my heart and I'm willing to do anything for them as long as I can keep them safe..." He paused briefly, and took another deep breath, steady himself for what he would say. "I don't know how and when but well...since I met you all, I have felt that I can trust you all... like you are the brothers and sisters that I've never had. I... I... I can't see the future. I don't know how powerful this Chaos-teme is. I am, however, willing to support Kohl-san because I know I can trust him and since you are my family, I will protect you all. I don't know if I can fight Chaos-teme off and well... you never know until you try, right?" He gave the Time God and the God of Decision a warm smile and snuggled deep into his chair, having finished his little speech.

Perhaps clarification had not been the best thing to ask for, Adrien mused as Mr. Nos spoke. His words were ominous, a dark promise to all that sat in the room. They had perhaps a month at worst to prepare for this Chaos, a force or person who had the power to single-handedly destroy the world. How many times had this happened before? How many times had these legendary beings been reincarnated and why? It was not something he wished to dwell on as their host continued to speak about teamwork, that they all needed to band together to face this seemingly all-powerful foe. To put it in those terms and to see the people gathered around the room, it seemed hopeless, but they had no choice. Not just because of Chaos, but because he hardly thought anyone would be allowed to leave at this point. He took a sip of water, more for something to do than of any actual thirst.

The explanation did little the quiet the group. If anything, it raised more questions. One of the women, beautiful with long, dark hair who he vaguely recalled as the Goddess of Love, asked about Chaos, of his origins and what he wanted. It was a good question- they knew that Chaos posed a dangerous threat to the world at large but now how, not who, not why. Their opponent was just a jumble of words as of right now, threats of dark thought stitched together in the form of a villain to be defeated. It was followed by another question from, as she reminded them, the Goddess of Craft, demanding to know what would happen afterwards. What would happen if they survived? Were they to carry on human existences or live the life of Gods and Goddesses, mere shadows of their former selves? The thought burrowed into his mind, a sudden shiver cascading down his spine.

The seriousness of the situation was almost broken by the reentry of the young lady who had stepped out, once more demanding answers despite the solemn looks and hushed voices of those within the room. It nearly shattered the gravity of the room and, if it had been any other moment, he supposed he would have laughed. Instead, he merely resisted the urge to roll his eyes heavenwards, feeling more irritation than amusement.

The tone of this conversation had indeed split once she had arrived, shifting the group's tune from intense questioning to great rallies of support. The man just one seat away let out a sudden gasp before rising to his feet and striding over to the alleged Time God before giving a grand speech, more like he was debating a case and they were the jury that needed convincing.

"I know we have no proof other than talk and speculation. But what does it cost us to find out about ourselves? If we truly are gods and have done this before..."

Ah, the cost, the cost. It seemed simple enough, learn to use fantastic powers like a comic book superhero, defeat Chaos. But Adrien was of the mindset that everything had a cost and taking the form of the God of the Dead without knowing what that would do to him, to his mind, that was a severe cost indeed.

He was immediately followed by the youngest in the room, apparently of some Japanese origin if the honorifics he tagged onto the ends of names meant anything. He spoke of friendship, or brother(and sister)hood, almost disgustingly optimistic about all of this. They all were, in Adrien's mind, optimistic that is. This wasn't, as Mr. Nos had been quick to point out, a children's film. There was no magic of friendship to ensure that they would succeed. This was reality, harsh and unforgiving.

"Mon Dieu... What cost?" He echoed after a moment, still playing with his water glass. "There is plenty of cost- we have no idea what will happen to us after we supposedly become gods or goddesses. Who is to say if we will even win? There is always a cost. But I agree. This is something we must do simply because we have no other choice." His lips finally quirked into a grim, mirthless smile, eyes landing solely on their host.

"I doubt leaving and pretending this never happened is an option. Is that not correct, Monsieur Nos?" A bit of a passive aggressive stab at his own "invitation", perhaps, but it needed to be said. Leaving, like arriving in the first place, was most likely not an option.

More questions appeared.

"This Chaos character... Is he like us? A reincarnation? Does he take the form of a human? Or something less appeasing? ... What does he want overall" This question was posed my Mia, the shy Goddess of Love. She wasn't anything like her past aspects, he found he preferred this quieter version to the one that the Greeks had worshiped.

"What happens if we do defeat Chaos? Do I retire this role as your goddess of craft and just go back to the reality I have known for 29 years.. or is there much more to this when it is over and done.." Suriah posed the next question with concern.

Kohl prepared to answer these questions but stopped as Dominic, the God of Decisions stood. Relief flooded through him as Dominic threw in his support for the Time God. Kohl had no doubt that Dominic's vision of if the others chose not to help was real and dangerously close to happening, but Kohl also suspected and hoped that this show of support would give others the confidence to stay too.
The next to speak was Kaze, his words mirroring Dominic's support. Appreciatively Kohl nodded to both men before glancing around the room at the other faces.
To Summer, who had just walked in, he indicated she sit. She would need to be brought up to speed but right now he had other issues to sort out.

"Chaos is not a he or a she , it is an entity that revels in the unknown. It is not like us. Chaos' form is immense and filled with nothing. Kohl paused, how did he describe Chaos? "The best way I can describe it for you is as an all consuming presence. Black clouds that reach out and suck the land dry. That is what it wants overall, to end life.

He turned to Suriah, " The last time we defeated Chaos the Greeks made stories of us and worshiped us as gods. Times have changed, people have changed and I am not able to predict how this world will react to us. He held his hands out to indicate the room, " I do know that, if we defeat Chaos, the world will be safe but it will be changed. How it will be changed? I do not know." That was the best he could do, give her some vague answer.

Then, finally he turned his attention to Adrian. "What cost?" the man asked before making a stab at Kohl's... persuasive method of getting him to attend this gathering. Thankfully he seemed to accept and understand that this was happening and was prepared to stay.
"The ultimate cost would be your life." Kohl said honestly, "Death comes for us all one day, you will know that better than anyone. But it is not the cost I wish any of us to pay. We will train until our powers are restored and when we take on Chaos we will be prepared."

He turned his attention from face to face, gauging each person's willingness, or lack of, to stay.

Lucia had known she was going to stay from the start, her curiosity about her powers and her drive to learn how to use them had been enough to make her want to stay. Chaos, however, was another matter. It scared her, Chaos was unknown even, it appeared, to Kohl.
But, as Kohl had said if she, and the others, didn't stay and help to defeat this threat than the earth might be lost. Either option wasn't exactly cheerful to think about. On one hand she could leave and pretend that this all never happened but she would know. If Chaos defeated the others what use would she be by herself without any knowledge of how to use her powers?
The other option, and the one she intended to take, was to stay, learn and fight.
Besides what could she say to her family if she returned home, how could she face them knowing how selfish she had been?

She looked up at Kohl who had just finished answering a series of questions posed by several of the gods. He looked slightly relieved to hear that others were agreeing to stay and putting their weight behind his arguments.
"I'll stay too" Lucia said into the silence following Kohl's latest answer. She didn't feel the need for a speech, indeed she had nothing of value to add besides her intention to stay. But, she suspected and hoped that the more who showed their support, the more likely the undecided would be to stay.
