The most iconic part of Elise Von Hresvelg's appearance that most people - her fans, those who have worked with her, and even Directors - they all agree on one thing: Elise's sharp penetrating gaze is the one thing they remember. The girl has a natural piercing stare and the natural red hue of her irises make it even more distinct. As a girl she's always been rather stoic, naturally adept at not emoting. There's a reason why Elise was commonly cast in roles in horror movies as creepy frightening little girls. It was only after starring in Blood of the Black Eagle did she learn to better emote and inflect.

Elise doesn't have much fashion sense herself, as her family tends to dress and clothe her for her. She's usually seen in clothing fitting a "winter", with sleek neat designs and simple and solid color pallets, usually blacks and greys. She has a slender and almost lithe frame, because a Star must always take care of her body. Her family made sure that she would always be perfect in appearance.

Jeralt Von Hresvelg | Father | 46 | Alive
Mirabelle Lancaster | Mother | 41 | Died at 30
Cynthia Von Hresvelg | Stepmother | 38 | Alive
Claude Von Hresvelg | Half-Brother | 16 | Alive

{☛ ⒽⒾⓈⓉⓄⓇⓎ ☚}
Jeralt Von Hresvelg, a famous director known for casting many films, was once a young man who fell in love with his lead actress at the time, Mirabelle Lancaster. It was unfortunate though, that he was already engaged to another woman at the time, someone his parents chose for him to marry, a young heiress named Cynthia Aegir. Jeralt was charmed by Mirabelle's talent and smile, but Cynthia's sweet and innocent doting was beloved by him as well. Unable to make the choice, Jeralt chose to be with both women, wooing Mirabelle and chose to try to hide this for as long as he could. In the end, he chose to marry Cynthia, believing Mirabelle was tougher and would be able to handle the breakup.

By then, Jeralt had already impregnated both women, though he didn't know it yet at the time.

When Elise was born, Mirabelle had already gone on her own path, raising and training her daughter to become a great actress. Every moment from her first word to her first step was all in preparation to have little raven haired Elise star in a movie. Even as a baby she was put on sets and acted out various babies and infant characters to get the baby accustomed to the camera from a young age. As such, Elise was always used to the glare of the cameras, the swarming paparazzi trying to get any information they could for their tabloids. Who was the mysterious father of talented and wonderful Mirabelle? It was a mystery kept locked shut behind the box. Eventually, it became known to the world that Elise Lancaster was actually the illegitimate daughter of Jeralt Von Hresvelg. Who leaked the news? In the end, no one found out, but Jeralt decided to go and see his daughter and his former lover. Impressed by her talent, he invited Mirabelle and Elise back into his life, and offered to grant Elise part of his inheritance.

Now officially a member of the Von Hresvelg family, Elise was trained even harder. Her half brother quickly resented her, Claude did not enjoy his new half sister getting all the attention. Just because she was famous and a child actress didn't mean he didn't deserve any love. He was afraid for his mother too, now that the mistress returned, would Cynthia still have a place at the Von Hresvelg house? Claude and Elise formed a hostile sibling relationship, they never did see eye to eye. He would pull her hair, she would call him stupid and talentless, and no matter how their families tried to make the children get along, all they did was get in more fights. Still, Elise continued to be a rising star, getting her own set of fans eager to see her growth as a child star. She was given the nickname "Black Eagle" based on a character she played when taking her first starring role. Jeralt, naturally, never casted her in his films. No matter how much Mirabelle asked, he always refused to let Elise take part in his art.

One day, when Elise was twelve, the two women in the family decided to take the children out for a concert in downtown Crysanthemum. Over the years Mirabelle and Cynthia learned to love each other. Rather than have their old rivalry and feud, they accepted the situation for what it was, and even developed affection for one another. Wishing for their children to have the same sentiment, they were taken out to enjoy a concert. Sadly, this resulted in tragedy. Little did they know, the concert would be bombed by a suicide bomber. Mirabelle died in the explosion, and Claude lost his arm as he covered Elise with his body, protecting her through sheer instinct when the explosion went off.

But Elise didn't end up unscathed. Her face now had horrid scars, she had become horribly disfigured. She quit her role as a star and chose to hide in her room in the dark where she wouldn't have to look at her horrible face anymore. She quit school and all of her contracts, and refused to go out into the world. Her only company was her brother, who would come by after classes and tutor her, making sure that at least his sister wouldn't fall behind in her schooling. Even years later, when her father found a doctor he trusted to give Elise plastic surgery, she would never feel beautiful again. Only in the darkness and safety of the rain would Elise ever show her face beyond the walls of her room. Little did she know, she would gain power over rain one day.

It was now time to move. "I'm coming too." Claude growled, shaking his head. "I gotta make sure you don't go out of control, Lissie." Elise felt fatigued and her head was killing her but she knew there was enough rain soaked into the ground that there was no way they could escape her trap. This was the only way to protect herself, if they had anything to blame for their fates, it would be for trying to insult the Hresvelg name in the first place. The limo sped through the streets, the three of them quickly planning to group up with the rest of the security squad that were watching and waiting in the bushes for just the right time. "Do we know who it is?" Claude asked, frowning. Vincent nodded from the driver's seat. "You know them as 009 and 012." He said simply, his face stern. "They will not be a threat."

The house was rather decrepit. Was this really a house? It was tiny compared to what Elise was used to. The security team gave their salutes to Vincent. "The targets are still here, sir!" They said, bowing to Vincent and the Hresvelg siblings. "We know." Vincent directed them to guard each exit with their lives, making sure there was no escape for the enemy. What kind of evil person would kidnap a child? Hearing their excuses would be quite entertaining. "Just... try not to kill. I want to know why they did this and why they thought they could get away." Claude sounded almost pleading. "I don't want any bloodshed, okay?" Elise shook her head, frowning. "My life is in danger as long as they live." She explained as Vincent broke the door down. "So we have no choice but to kill them." Was he worried about getting caught? Vincent was an expert and a professional. He knew how to clean up to not leave the slightest trace.

As they entered metal flew around them, blocking the exits. "Sorry, but we're doing something important here." A friendly voice echoed from a speaker. "Mind waiting until the medicine does it's job?" Vincent moved to shove the metal plates away from the doorways but Elise held her arm out, twisting it. The wet ground warped to break open the walls, granting them entry. The trio, Vincent with a gun and Elise commanding the water flooding the house, stepped through to the next room. Winter was in some horrible contraption, bound with injection wounds that even the black eagle could see. 009 was here, supposedly such a wonderful good person, and 012 was here too, grinning at them.

The floor broke beneath them, the muddy ground trapping their ankles. Water went into their weapons, breaking all the guns except for Vincent's own. "Wow. And Winter was speaking so highly of you, 009. How the mighty have fallen. You're just as bad as Doc and the rest." Her ruby eyes stared at 012 in annoyance. "And you're one of us. I see you already made your move." Claude rushed over to Winter's side, trying to undo the metal pinning her down. Thanks to the security team, they brought tools. Claude pulled out a diamond cutter and started working. "It'll be okay, we're here now. We won't let them hurt you, we promised you this on our family name."

"Now, I'm sure we can come to an agreement on this." 012 smiled, trying to pull his legs free from the mud clinging to them like arms, grabbing, not letting them go. "At least give us time for a big speech explaining our reasons!" Elise sighed, rolling her eyes. "I care not for your drivel. The sooner this ends, the sooner I can return to my room." She looked over at Vincent, who nodded. "I - close your eyes, Winter. I'll block your ears, this is-" Elise stared at the two rats, struggling pathetically on the ground. "For the crime of trespassing on Hresvelg property, you two will die. Vincent, now." Vincent's finger squeezed on the trigger without hesitation.

❝I put my arms around myself and I'm unbreakable.❞

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

Take the pills, take the injections. Was she sitting up or laying down? Neither perhaps. How long had she been here? Winter didn't know. A day? A week? A month? Her legs were covered in bruises from repeated injections, her mouth perpetually tasting like chalk. "Merlin," Allison gnawed on her thumb, "she doesn't look good." Her lips were pale, her pupils as wide as pennies. "It's the medicine," Merlin waved it off, looking out the window. "Merlin, she needs a Doctor." Allison grabbed his arm, he shoved her away, "We can't take her to a Doctor, you know that." He growled, "Just give her some morphin(e), she'll be fine." Her head lolled to the side, "I'm going to get you out of here." Allison whispered, attempting to remove the metal, she was seeing 012 for what he truly was.

"You're not going anywhere!" Merlin shoved her against the wall, the two of them grappling against one another. Ice suddenly shot from the floor, pointed at Merlin's throat. He shoved Allison one last time for good measure and rose slowly. "Winter, that's very bad. You know better than that," he grabbed her by the throat. "Leave.... her... alone..." she could barely string together a sentence. "Don't touch her!" Allison grabbed Merlin, kneeing him in the groin. She headbutted him, Merlin's fist driving into Allison's stomach, hard. His hand was coated in metal. She sank to the ground, coughing up blood. "I shouldn't have to take care of you too Ally," he sneered, kicking her to the side. "No more misbehaving Winter, not if you want to get out of here-" he injected her in the calf, having run out of room on her thighs.

She groaned, she was clearly in pain. "Don't worry, we'll take care of that too." He didn't have to force her mouth open to pop the pain pill under her tongue. Winter wasn't sure what it tasted like, chalk or maybe cherries. "Shit, they're here." He could sense them as soon as they stepped onto the property. "Allison, get up, we've got company." She rose slowly, her hands trembling, they never trembled, on her gun. "We're going to take things nice and slow-" the door was warped with metal, the windows covered as well. The ground split open, the entire house shaking. "Shit! Shit, shit, shit!" He cursed, "We've gotta get out of here!" They were surrounded, the Von Hreslevg's stronghold having made an appearance at last.

It was chaos, not that Winter could follow it, she was barely conscious. In a stupor, drifting between reality and whatever her mind invented. Were Elise and Claude really here? Winter doubted it. No doubt her brain was attempting to come up with a desperate version of reality. They didn't care enough about her to save her. Surely they were too concerned with their own lives to care about one stupid orphan girl. Winter felt as though she might throw up again. Her right arm was suddenly freed, then her left. She flopped forward like a ragdoll, her eyelids fluttering. He was telling her to close her eyes, but she didn't know why. "0...0...9... don...hur....her..." she slurred, her words clumsy and slow.

Allison had her hand on her gun, they were surrounded, this was her chance. Vincent pulled out his gun, both of them shooting at the same time, Allison's gun pointed at Merlin's head. He grinned, laughed, the bullets stopping mid air. "Foolish," he shook his head. "So, you really tried to shoot me? After everything I've done for you!" He grabbed Allison by the throat, choking her. One of the Von Hreslevg's guards tried to step in, tried to separate them. "Don't inerfere!" He barked, a metal pipe dragging the employee away and pinning them against the wall. "Nobody move! No one move or I'll explode all of the metal in your guns!"

❝Make them hate the fake, that way they won't see the real you.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#0C94CC ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #CC0C2E

Metal was all around them. Elise stood as tall as her short body would allow her, her ruby eyes almost glistening in the dim light of the room. All the exits were guarded. There was no way out for them now. The enemy was cornered and 009 was doing some ridiculous desperate stunt. What, now that the cavalry arrived she thought she would be granted mercy by pretending to swap sides? Elise was no fool, and she wouldn't let the rat continue living. 012 was also a vicious rat, but he had powers as well. A dangerous one that needed to be put down before he did more damage. "No one move or I'll explode all of the metal in your guns!" He threatened, choking 009. Winter was mumbling something but it was clear she was barely conscious. Why would you beg for the life of one of your captors? Just how daft was she?

"That's fine. Blow up the guns." They were all waterlogged, the gunpowder was made inert. There was nothing he could do about the guns now. She looked over to Vincent and nodded, the old man, the shadow behind the eagle carefully placed the gun on the ground and walked towards the two government agents. 012 reacted quickly, but the pipes below the house burst, the floor breaking even more. Was he trying to break out of the mud pulling him and 009 into the earth? Was this an attempt to escape? Elise held her arm out, the mud wrapping around the shattered pipes, pushing them back down onto the ground before they could hurt anyone. Water was bursting now from the broken pipes so she controlled the water, moving it as a big bubble to the side of the room.

As Elise felt a wave of fatigue and nausea rush through her she knew what she needed to do. "Spirit dress." She muttered, doing a twirl as the shimmering white and blue dress appeared, the scarf extending towards - right as she did her twirl 012 dashed right on her with tremendous force and power. He was trained, Elise was not, so she fell to the floor without any resistance. "This makes things easier. Now, just be a good girl. You don't have to try so hard to be tough. I know you're a little frightened child inside." 012 smiled at her, just like he always did. "You and 009 broke into our home, and stole someone we swore to protect. Did you really think we would not retaliate?" She did not understand how stupid trained government agents could be. "On our honor as the von Hresvelg family, Winter is under our protection."

Vincent pulled 012 off of Elise, kicking him into a wall. For an old man he still had a decent amount of strength, and a lot of skill to make up for his age. He was a grizzled veteran, dressed like a sophisticated shadow. Claude was still clinging to Winter, making sure no one got any weird ideas. "You are not permitted to touch Milady." Vincent spoke simply, reaching for 012 when suddenly the one gun still with live powder exploded. Vincent jumped in the way but the light blinded Elise, Claude let out a cry and continued holding Winter. "You're not getting her." He hissed and 012 rolled his eyes then jumped away, with no Winter in hand.

There was blood. This was the second time someone was hurt for her, wasn't it? Vincent grunted in pain as the exploded gun's shards dug into his torso. Yet he still stood tall and strong, not letting it affect him. He did not want the Milady to worry. "Vincent..." He was so dreamy, but Elise wished he wouldn't put himself at risk like this. 009 was all that was left and she could not escape the mud being controlled by Elise. "I will be fine." Vincent's face was stony. "What is your order?" Elise pointed her finger at the trapped rat in the mud. "Eliminate her."

Claude ran out them, blocking Vincent's path to 009. "No. No killing." His eyes were fearful, but he still made his stance. "Winter was begging us to spare her." Claude really was a persistent fellow. He had a good heart, but didn't understand how much of a threat 009 was? "She knows who I am. She was given Government training. She's dangerous." Elise was exhausted, she didn't have the energy to keep fighting. "If we let her live, she will tell the Government where Winter is, and about my powers. The only option is to kill her." Pull out the weeds to let the garden bloom, why didn't Claude understand this?

"Elise, if you want to protect your identity, we have to spare her." Claude insisted, not moving from his spot. He was shielding 009 with his body. What was stopping 009 from stabbing him in the back right his moment? "Move away from her before she kills you." She didn't want to lose her brother, not to a rat like this. "If we want Winter to realize we mean her no harm, we can't hurt 009. We can detain her, we can keep her locked up and secure, but we can't kill her. Winter will just turn against us, and I know, you don't like her... but what's stopping Winter from escaping and telling the Government everything to try and save 009?" Winter was definitely the kind of brainwashed idiot that would do that. Was the smart option to kill them both here then?

She couldn't do that though. Cynthia would never recover if Winter were to die. That foolish woman with the frail sickly body, she always made the mistake of getting attached to people that you shouldn't get attached to.

"Let's go back. Vincent needs medical attention, and so does Winter." Vincent was looking pale despite his attempt to remain stoic. "We can debate this later, but let's get everyone home." If they stayed too long the Enforcers would be here. As much as Elise despised it, Claude was making sense. "Fine. But the moment 009 shows that she's a threat, her life ends." She felt sick, her head was pounding, she could barely stand on her own two legs. She had been using her power far too much, she had no spiritual energy left to keep it up.

❝I put my arms around myself and I'm unbreakable.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#BDA0CB ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #F7B3DA

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

"Winter, what are you doing?" She was sitting on the piano bench, sheet music in hand. "I-I don't know. I can't remember," all of her thoughts lately had been fuzzy, as thogugh she were living in some feverish dream, or half-baked reality. Winter could barely recall her own name these days. "You stopped in the middle, what's wrong?" Her music teacher's hands encased her own, they were warm. "You're freezing," she ran her arms up and down Winter's arms. "Now, let's run through it again."

"Winter! Get back in the house, what are you doing outside, it's snowing!" Her Grandmother was chasing her out in the yard, their dog following her. "I thought I saw-" but what did she see? She didn't know, she couldn't remember. It was as though she was living inside of her own head these days. "Saw what sweetie? Let's go back inside," her Grandma guided her back into the farmhouse, seating her in front of the warm fire.

"Ms. Winter, your Grandparents tell me you haven't been yourself lately." She shook her head slowly, wondering what this was about. They were in a Doctor's office, when had she gotten there? Why were there so many lapses in her memory? "I don't... I don't remember," he frowned, concerned. "Here, these will help. Take the pills, be a good girl Winter, they'll help make everything better."

"Be a good girl Winter."

"Take your pills."

"Be a good girl."

"Take your pills."

She wasn't getting better, she was always cold, why was she always cold? "Winter, sweetie, what's wrong?" Her Grandfather asked, they were sitting on the porch, he was drinking lemonade. "Something's wrong with my head." She whispered, placing her palms flat over her ears, as though it would stop it. "Nothing's wrong with your head," he assured her, pouring her more lemonade. It was hot out, the peak of summer heat, but Winter was freezing. Ice crept up the glass of lemonade, freezing it from the outside in. She dropped the glass, caught by surprise, the glass ahttering against the porch.

No, it was a window, a window that was being broken. Her hand had punched the glass, but why? There was blood running between her fingers, glass stuck in her skin. "Winter! No!" She was wearing a hospital gown, she was being pulled away. These weren't her memories, what was she doing here? How did she get to the hospital? "Come on, let's get you back to your room," the nurse led her slowly. Winter caught a glance of the sign above the entryway, A Mental Hospital. She was out of her mind, wasn't she?

"Take your pills Winter, be a good girl."

"No! This isn't me!" She begged, but no one would listen. They would lock her in her room, or inject her with strange medicines that would make her head swim and her limbs float. She felt like a body caught in a current, being pulled under by a river.

"Winter, are you going to be good?" The nurse opened the door, her face a shadow. "Yes," she was tired, her throat raw from screaming, but she couldn't recall yelling.

"Come on, let's go sit with the group, it's time to color."

"Okay," she rose slowly, following the nurse out the door. The group sat quietly, coloring with crayons at supervised tables. She was drawing a piano when someone slipped a note onto her lap.

This isn't you Winter.

No, it wasn't. This wasn't real, she wasn't real.

"Winter, are you alright?" The nurse asked as her hands shook.

"Stay away from me!" Ice shot from her hand, the nurse stumbling away in surprise. That's right, she wasn't normal, she was something much more than that. "I'm leaving," Winter rose, feeling certain for the first time.

"We all are."

"No!" Sweat trickled down her back, her empty hand reaching upwards. She looked around in confusion, her head feeling heavy. Panic consumed her, she ripped out the IV in the crook of her arm, scrambling out of bed. Her cane, where was her cane? There, something she could use, she needed to escape. "Winter, no!" Someone grabbed her, wrestling her back onto the bed. "Don't touch me! Get off of me!" She screamed, fighting back, punching and kicking, but she was small and easy to put down. "Winter, it's Claude! Stop it!"

Claude?.... Oh, Claude. She exhaled in relief, "I thought you were gonna freeze me into an ice sculpture," he sighed in relief, dusting snowflakes off of his shoulder. She could feel it again, easily accessible at her fingertips. "Don't scare us like that, we thought you were never gonna wake up." He joked, nudging her shoulder. She looked at her arms, all bandaged up, her legs too. "How long?" She asked, draping an arm over her eyes, the light was far too bright. "Have you been out? Or gone?"

"Both."

"Gone a month, out a week." He pat her leg, time was not linear in her mind, she felt as though she had been gone for only a day. "Janet?" She bolted upright again, "alive, for now." He assured her, he had her cane, the one her Grandfather had made. Where did he get it from? "She had this, she told me to bring it to you."

It had been some time since that awful day that Vincent was hurt. Honestly, it really was such a waste of time. She became a sophomore and then the summer break began, and naturally, Elise at the top of her year across the city. She was given an award by the Minister of Education for her diligence and effort when really, she didn't try at all. She never needed to, did no one understand this? Mercedes and Serenity went on and became Juniors, it wouldn't be long until they became proper adults either, would it? "I'm heading out." Elise murmured, putting a gold jacket on with her white blouse and skirt, looking positively stunning if it wasn't for her face. "Okay, take care!" Cynthia was still hurt by Winter's lifeless form, comatose in the bed. No doubt she blamed herself. Security went up tenfold, and with Winter as a highly valued target, there were guards shuffled around to always be watching and following her once it was time for her to wake up.

"Gah! Hyah!" Elise threw her ninja star, the blade forming a beautiful arc as it slashed across the sky. She was in the woods outside the city - a special experimental room was being built but it wasn't yet complete, once it was finished she would be able to train inside the safety of her home - but that wasn't an option that was available to her right now. The blade of water returned to her hand, floating gently above it and she swung her arm again, the water star shooting out yet again. Rain continued to pour, and she raised her arm to shoot spikes of water from the sky onto imaginary enemies. Since Vincent's injury Elise had been honing her powers. She needed to be the strongest. Then, no one would be able to compete with her. Winter was useless - so it would make the most strategic sense to assign Vincent to guarding her at all hours of the day. If Elise could become strong enough to protect herself from all enemies, she wouldn't need to risk Vincent's life anymore.

The rain continued to fall and Elise felt someone approaching. She hid behind a tree, glaring through the darkness. There was someone there, she could feel them. Her rain was tracking their movements, forming a trace around their body shape. She knew this was 012, he was here. No doubt because of the rain, he knew she was here as well. "Come out, Elise, I know you're here somewhere." Obviously there was no way she was interested in an exchange of words with the evil. "Let's negotiate. It doesn't have to be a big fuss." 012 was calling, yelling over the rain, but the water drenching him could feel the metal waiting for her. He was here looking for a fight.

"I hope you had her killed. Allison, I mean. You know her as 009." 012 was still talking as if nothing was wrong. 009 was locked up and a special injection was given to her every night at precisely midnight to lock away her limbs, her eyes, her ears, so she would have nothing but regret. With her senses gone there was no escape for the rat. "She's a threat. She knows who we all are, so I think we would all benefit from having her eliminated." Elise couldn't help but agree. Letting that woman live was nothing but a mistake that would bite her in the rear eventually. "Oh, the knives? That's just for self protection, you know how it is. Come on, we can work together. All you gotta do is bring this knife into your house, and I'll take care of the rest."

If anyone was going to kill 009, it wouldn't be this rat. Elise would rather do it herself, even if it meant getting her hands dirty. She wasn't going to let any tool of 012's to enter her home and threaten those she cared for. Vincent wasn't here right now, he was still recovering from having exploded shards of metal pierce his chest and abdomen. Elise would simply leave the rain here over the forest and make her way back into the Chrysanthemum. She wouldn't speak to the rat because what was the point? It was as much sense as trying to speak to a tree. "Then - I won't tell anyone where Winter is, so you keep my secret too. How does that sound? Come on, you know you love a deal like that."

Okay fine, she could accept that one. She would indicate her acceptance by letting the rainfall stop. "It's a deal, so don't forget it!" She left the forest, letting her parasol down, where one of the security staff's vehicles was waiting for her to take her back home. Cynthia was happy about Elise going out more often, but she didn't know the black eagle was spending her time training. She didn't need to rely on anyone, she wouldn't let Vincent get hurt anymore.

After checking to make sure there was no disembodied knife following her, Elise made it back home. 012 was not going to get in, she would not allow that to happen. She had to go check on Vincent, she needed to see how he was healing. Tired, struggling to remain poised and not show her exhaustion, Elise forced herself to stand straight-backed as she walked, looking for Vincent's quaters in the halls of her home. She heard a commotion in the kitchen and a familiar smell, Winter must be awake because Cynthia was back on her feet it seemed, joyously at work again. Elise knocked on the door, and she heard a gravely voice allow her in. "Vincent. I hope you are healing." She said to him, seeing he was still laying in bed. Vincent was no fool, he knew it would not be wise to force himself to work until he was fully healed.

"I am, Milady. I am doing my hardest to return to your side on the field." He was aware Elise had been training, in fact, he approved of it. The stronger the little miss was, the less he would have to worry for her sake despite the amount of enemies abound. "About that... I have been thinking." She wasn't sure she wanted to say it, but the fact remained that this may be the most practical plan. "Once Winter is up again, do you think it possible to shadow her on my orders?" Vincent frowned, his mustache twitching, silver grey. "I would comply, but Milady, are you worried of my injury? I chose willingly to get injured, please do not blame yourself." Of course Vincent saw through her reasoning. More than anyone in the world, it was Vincent who truly understood her. Someone else may have taken the reassignment the wrong way.

Elise ran a hand through her ebony locks, a carefully neutral expression on her face. "With my powers, I can protect myself. Winter cannot yet do that, so it makes strategic sense to assign you to her for now." She could sense any enemies around her using rain, but Winter probably wouldn't be able to do anything like that. "I understand, Milady." Vincent was special. He would always obey, no matter the command. As a servant, his loyalty and obedience was absolute. How could someone like him exist? How could anyone be so perfect? "I will serve your word with pride." Elise nodded, then exited the room. "Rest well, Vincent." She whispered to herself, then sighed, deciding she may as well go see how Winter was doing.

She was awake, and Claude was still attending to her. "Elise? Oh, come in... if you don't mind, Winter?" Choosing whatever Winter decided, there were a few things she had to say. She could say it from outside the room if she had to. "Because of our need to train, we're building a large room in our basement for the two of us to practice our powers." Elise explained haphazardly. It was probably important that Winter be made aware of this. "So no more training outside where you can be seen. This is the safest way to proceed."

Claude smiled, then decided to speak. "By the way, Winter, Elise has been talking about inviting you to see more movies with her." He sported a sly grin, cunning like a fox. "Wh-what? I-I n-never said anything like that!" The mask slipped off her face completely and the squirrely anxious Elise was back, staring at her boots. "She's been talking about it to Mr. STuffles when she thinks I'm asleep." Claude was clearly enjoying her suffering. "I - it's rude to spy on a lady!" She puffed up her cheeks in humiliation then took a deep breath to regain her composure. "...But if you wished, there a some movies I had in mind to watch with you." Her voice was trembling as she twiddled her thumbs. "If you really wanted to, then I suppose I could make time for you."

Elise nodded, she figured that would suffice. Winter was here and Claude was bullying her by being mean. How dare he spy on her like that? It wasn't her fault the wall between their rooms was thin! She was going to tell Cynthia to do something about because her private and wonderful conversations with Mr. Stuffles were impossible if Claude was going to listen in and eavesdrop on her all the time. "I will rent the movies once you are feeling better then." She said with a stiff nod, trying to make herself wear her mask again. "Summer break has begun, so school has ended. We'll have time to train." It was built with a fountain for Winter to practice her freezing, and Elise could train her water with it as well. The engineers were still thinking about how to incorporate something to accommodate Serenity and Mercedes.

"The sun and wind were worried about you. I do not know if they believed me when I said you were ill and missed the meeting." She frowned, thinking about what they told her that day. Was it worth telling Winter about? "They think they found the boy of sand. He's also a student, but they do not know who he is." They would be working on trying to track him down for now, and hopefully they would be able to not reveal themselves as the weather girls in the mean time. "Well, we should leave Winter for now." Claude said, rising. There was a knock, it seamed that Cynthia's special soup was ready. "I'm here with the soup. It wouldn't do for a growing girl like Winter - or Aurora - to go hungry!" With a smile like the sun, Cynthia entered, and despite her nobility, personally served Winter with a tray.

Cynthia looked beyond happy. It was nearly surreal to see. "Elise, did you know? Winter agreed to join the family officially! She will become a Hresvelg!" Claude grinned with a little nod. "She chose a name, but I won't spoil the surprise." The black eagle frowned again. Why make it a surprise? "Well, what is it? Will we still call you Winter or your new name?" It made sense to give her a new identity. If they also gave her a bit of a makeover - hair dye, manners, and eye contacts - she would be able to start a new life. Winter Matsuri would be gone, but she would live on.

"Elise, we should go shopping tomorrow." Claude decided. "We need to buy fitting clothes for our new sister." Why did Elise have to go too? What did she have to do with any of this? "You are the one wanting to become a beautician when you grow up." Elise murmured sourly, as if she ate a particularly flavorful lemon. Claude still grinned though, a twinkle alight in his eye. "Our sister needs clothes, she needs stuffed animals..." He turned to Winter, excited. "What's your favorite animal? We'll make sure to get one for you." Elise thought he was going a bit overboard, but, well, at least he was having fun.

Winter nodded, "Claude gave me a brief rundown of everything," so there was no need for Elise to repeat everything Claude had already told her. Winter hated it when peole unecessarily repeated themselves, it was one of her few pet peeves. "Once I've healed up, we should practice together. Our powers are similar, we can probably come up with combination attacks." Of course, there was no gaurantee that they would even fight together, who knows if the boys would group up, or if they would perform individual attacks. Winter hoped that they hadn't discovered that there were more of them, it would benefit the girls if they could quietly take them down. Would that mean killing them? Winter hoped not.

"I'll put their questions to rest at the next meeting," Winter reassured Elise, knowing that she must've been unhappy with having to face Serenity and Mercedes alone. She furrowed her brow, they had found the sand boy? A student at their school, who could have guessed? "Such a big city and yet, we're all going to the same school." Winter sighed, remembering something. "Once I'm better, I want to speak to Janet. We need to know what she knows." Winter also wanted to ask her a few personal questions, but she didn't want to tell Elise that. She already knew that Elise saw her as weaker, which was a joke considering the girl couldn't leave her home without assuming a character. Winter looked at her hands, balling them into fists. Ever since she was a child, everyone had told her she had delicate hands, piano fingers.

Why did it seem like a curse now?

Cynthia returned with more soup and a beaming smile. Winter knew why, of course, but she would let Cynthia in on the news. "Please, just call me Winter," she wasn't simply going to throw away her name. "At least when we're in private." Her name was special to her, it was the only real thing that Winter had from her mother. The gloves, of course, one could argue were from her, but Winter had received them from her Grandparents. She didn't know what had happened to her Mother, her Grandparents never discussed it in front of her. When she was older, they would say, but now that she was older, they had never gotten the chance. It felt strange, to pick a new name. She would no longer be Winter Matsuri, but Aurora Von Hreslevg.

Her head jerked up when Claude called her their new sister. It was true and yet... it felt strange. Going from being an only child her whole life to suddenly having two siblings. To having a Mom. She was no longer an orphan and somehow, she felt relieved. "Oh Winter, you're crying." Cynthia leaned over with a fabric napkin to dab at the tears on Winter's cheek. "I am?" She blinked, Claude suddenly asked her what her favorite animal was. "I-um, a duck I think." She blushed, stuffing a piece of bread into her mouth so that she wouldn't have to embarrass herself further. Claude was going to drag Elise out whether she wanted to go or not.

Even if Elise thought of Winter as weak, it was pretty logical that she would. Winter - or Aurora - well, she preferred Winter - anyways Winter was kidnapped how many times? She still didn't have the ability to protect herself from being taken against her will by enemies yet. So of course the black eagle would consider her as someone weaker than her. Elise had the ability to keep herself safe, even if part of that ability was having Vincent around. That was why she was training so hard this past two weeks, even to the point of passing out. She went to sleep that night and awoke the next morning, hissing at Ame and clinging to Mr. Stuffles like she always did. "I'm sorry, Stuffie, I've just been so busy lately, I'm neglecting you!"

The cow gazed back at her with his large beady eyes, caring and empathetic. "I know, Lissie, it's okay. It's not your fault you've become involved in this big mess." She pressed her body against the large cow toy, finding comfort in his shape and warmth. Who needed anything else? Mr. Stuffles and Vincent was all a girl could ever want. "You're the best, Stuffie, I can't live without you." Mr. Stuffles was her pride and joy, the light in her life. Vincent was her stability, the rock that kept her afloat. She was heavily dependent on both of those factors. "It's summer, Stuffie! No more school! I will remain in my room and never go anywhere again." That was her earnest wish, would it ever come true? "You're so silly." Ame giggled, her bluish pale skin light in the room. "Go away, you aren't welcome here!" She hid behind Mr. Stuffles, her valiant shield, waving his hooves at the intruder. "Lady Elise does not like you! Leave!" Ame vanished just as quickly and Elise shivered, hating that Ame could appear in her sanctuary anytime she wanted.

"If I didn't know better I would think you were in love with that cow." Claude's voice sounded through the wall, and even Elise could hear the smirk. "I'm gonna help you get dressed, we have to go get clothes and toys for our new sister." But why? Elise didn't want anything to do with that. "Can we just remain inside?" She whined, shriveling like a peach let out in the sun for far too long. "It's dangerous outside! 012 is out there somewhere! I should remain here where it is safe." Vincent was still unable to return to active duty yet, so did Claude really think he could keep her safe? "I'm sure it'll be fine, you've been training after all. Keep me safe, sis." He opened the door and grinned wickedly at her, an evil monster with his makeup kit already at his side.

Elise still did not understand the point of any of this. "We could just order clothes." She murmured, whimpering as Claude finished dressing her and helped her outside. "We can order online, isn't the internet wonderful?" She was still resisting as she was taken to Winter's room. "We'll be heading out to get you some clothing. Winter, do you have any particular style you like?" He didn't know what kind of clothes Winter liked wearing, or if she even knew what that was. Wanting to delay going outside, Elise had an idea. "What if we showed her different catalogs so we know what to look for?" It would not do to buy clothes Winter would never wear after all.

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

Cynthia remained with Winter, even after Claude and Elise had run off, teasing each other in the hallway no doubt. "Do you need me to feed you?" Cynthia asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. "No, that's okay, I can do it." Winter shook her head, wincing. "Sorry, just kind of in pain." Cynthia nodded, watching as Winter ate. "Do I... do I call you Mom now? Or just Cynthia?" She didn't know. "Whatever you're comfortable with," she smiled, her eyes seeming hopeful. Winter looked at her bowl, "I've never called anyone Mom before," she said quietly. Cynthia seemed sad, "Do you want to tell me about them?" She asked, "the people who looked after you before the accident?" Winter wasn't sure. She hesitated, stuffed a piece of bread into her mouth to give her some time to think.

"They were my Grandparents," Winter spoke at last. "I called them Grandma and Grandpa, they never talked about my Mom or Dad, at least not in front of me. She had a grave that was in another city, but on the anniversery of her death they would light a candle." Winter played with the spoon in the now-empty soup bowl, as though she were trying to scrape up the remains. "We lived on a farm on the outskirts of the Chrysanthemum, it was because of my music teacher that we moved here." Why was she telling Cynthia all of this? Winter didn't know. The pain hit her in a fresh wave, she found herself telling Cynthia everything. From her first piano competition to the fight she had, had with her Grandparents before the accident.

"I never even got to say goodbye." She had no idea where they were buried, if they were buried. "I didn't find out that they died until after the court case was over." She had used all of her inheritance to clear her name, there was nothing left. "Sorry," Winter wiped a stray tear from her eye, crying for the third time today. "I probably told you too much," she shook her head. No doubt Cynthia was rethinking adopting her. Suddenly, she touched Winter's cheek. "We're your family now, we can't replace the family you had, but hopefully we can make up for lost time." Her smile was gentle, her touch comforting. A knock at the door startled them both.

"Did I interupt?" It was a man wearing scrubs, a doctor, Winter presumed. "No, you're right on time." Cynthia smiled, beckoning for him to enter. He restarted the IV that Winter had pulled out, noting that she was dehydrated. "What's the extent of it?" Winter asked, wanting to know how long it would take until she fully recovered. "Mostly dehydration and mild malnourishment, but I'm sure Cynthia will take care of both of those things," he smiled, looking down at his notes. "Most of the wounds are cuts and bruises, as well as some friction burns." No doubt those were from when Winter tried to escape and tugged against the steel that had been holding her down.

"How long until I'm fully healed?" He looked down at his holo board, "A few days at most I would say." Winter nodded and watched him leave, Cynthia went too, saying goodnight and turning off the light. She was still tired, she realized, drifting off. Winter only woke up when Claude knocked on the door. She rubbed at her eyes sleepily, confused, then recalling where she was. He threw the door open, asking her what sort of clothing she liked. "I don't... I don't know." She shrugged, "Whatever looks good I guess." She didn't know the names for styles, her Grandparents had always bought her clothes, or Winter had simply worn hand-me-downs from her Mother.

"I guess we could look at catalogs?" Winter wasn't dumb, she knew Elise was trying to avoid going out.

What were they going to do? It all depended on whatever Winter had to say. Elise couldn't help but beam a smile of relief as Winter agreed to look at catalogs. "And it will be easier to buy them directly from each catalog, so that sounds splendid!" Claude sighed, rolling his eyes. "You never change, do you? Alright, but we'll still have to go out to buy her a duck." Elise narrowed her eyes at her mortal enemy. Why couldn't Claude be more like Vincent? Vincent would never force her to go outside. "We can also buy ducks online! It will be fine, all you must do is trust me." She gracefully pulled a chair over to Winter's bedside and slipped her arm out of the cast, annoyed by it. Soon she would be able to stop pretending that her arm was broken.

Elise brought up her holo and deftly signed in using the biometric login system. She moved about to a website - her personal favorite for clothes - then looked Winter over, with her neat blonde hair and clear eyes. "Hmm, I like blacks and greys and whites." She said, but Claude sighed, shaking his head. "A more colorful, sunny look would be good for Winter, maybe." Claude interrupted. "It might suit her charms better." Elise frowned and pulled up an image on the fashion site. "Something like this?" She showed it to Winter, a nice bright orange top with a sleek black skirt, and a pretty hat to boot.

Claude shook his head, not seeming to like that choice. He tapped a few buttons and found a different section. "Here, what about this kind of style?" Elise made a face but Claude seemed happy with it. "Look, it's nice and gentle, the pastel pearl suits your gentle features quite nicely." He appraised Winter and nodded, approving. "There's lots more like this, but I think pastel's a good look for you." It seemed, as usual, the siblings were in a disagreement. "Isn't it weird for a boy to be dressing a girl?" Elise questioned, putting a hand on her hip. Claude frowned, shaking his head. "But you make me do it for you all the time." He retorted, because well, it was the truth after all.

"Th-that's only because I..." She couldn't look in mirrors. She couldn't risk seeing her horrible plastic face again. Vincent made sure the servants knew to reduce the amount of reflective layers around her as much as she could. Even with water around, Elise always subconsciously turned her head to avoid the risk of seeing what she didn't want to see. What did she look like after the surgery? She was probably a hideous monster now. "Anyways." Claude tactfully sidestepped the issue. "Now, Winter, here's the most important thing. We need to know what your favorite color is."

Favorite color? What was that all about? Noticing Elise giving him a suspicious stare Claude continued. "Hm, would it be better to do it like this?" Claude handed Elise's holo over to Winter, bringing up the biggest toy store in the Chrysanthemum's site. "Here, you can browse around the toy section and choose what duck you like. Don't worry, money isn't an issue." Neither sibling was going to just rely on their fortune their whole lives of course. They both had dreams that would earn them a living once they became adults. Elise one day aspired to return to the big screen, and Claude wanted to make a name for himself in the beauty industry. Winter too, was primed for polite society considering she also had a great talent in music. In the world of the rich in the Chrysanthemum, only those with talent are welcomed.

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

Winter scooted over a bit for Elise to join her on the bed. She was not in her room, well, the guest room that they were so graciously allowing her to live in. This room was different, it had a hospital bed and a curtain around it, as well as machines all around, as though this were some miniature hospital. The Doctor, Winter had learned, was a nice man who the family hired that worked at the Chrysanthemum City Hospital when he was not needed. Hopefully he had tight lips, or else they might find city officials banging down the door. She reached for a pencil, needing to do something with her hands while Elise pulled out her holo pad and began to type. "You really hate leaving the house, don't you?" It was a joke, really. Winter was almost jealous, she wished that she had the freedom to come and go wherever she wanted to.

To ride public transportation, to go see a movie in a movie theater, or hang out with friends at the mall. She had none of those luxuries and Elise had them all at her fingertips, but refused them. "They both look nice," it was hard to choose between Elise and Claude's personal styles. "I like the more colorful ones," she decided, recalling the drab colors the city officials always picked out for her. Dull grays and blacks, because they were simple and didn't understand the needs of a teenage girl. "I don't think it's weird, plenty of the top designers for women are men." She twirled a lock of hair around her finger, Elise's sentence cutting itself off. Winter recalled seeing Claude force Elise to get dressed.

"Blue," blue was her favorite color. It was the color of the sky, which was vast and beautiful. Claude handed her a holo pad to scroll through. There were stuffed ducks of all shapes and sizes. "This one," she knew immediately. It was white and fluffy, with an orange bill and webbed feet. Winter couldn't help but stare at its plush looking exterior, which would be perfect for cuddling. She used to own dozens of stuffed animals, but they were all gone. Repoed, by the government one could say. Her entire identity, all of her belongings... she shook her head. This was a fresh start, she still had two violins she had to try out, sitting in the theater.

"I'd like to buy some wigs too," that way when she went out, she could use them to cover her hair. "If that's okay of course..." she would need to maintain one color for school no doubt and nothing too outlandish. Her goal would be to keep to herself, to not draw attention to herself. Just like before, only, this time there were more dire consequences for getting caught. Her head suddenly swam, a random bought of confusion and dizziness. The Doctor had said it would stop once the drug was completely out of her system, although they did not know how long that would take considering they could not identify whatever cocktail 012 had come up with. "Sorry... I... what were we doing?" She pressed the heel of her hand against her temple, attempting to make the swimming stop.

Elise tried to find a section of the catalog that Winter would look good in Winter decided to comment on her habits as a shut in. Was it teasing, or was it something else? "W-well, everyone has something that they are good at and something that they are bad at." Elise decided to hedge around the topic, a sheepish expression on her usually masked mien. "I simply happen to be an expert at staying inside." That was all there was to it, clearly, there was nothing else to talk about on the subject. "You don't have to make it sound so noble." Claude rolled his eyes. "I've been trying to get her to go outside for the past four years now." They both found outfits and Winter commented on liking colorful clothes. So she liked color? "Claude would be better then." Elise mumbled, allowing Claude to start building something of a wardrobe for Winter.

After they bought a good amount to make up a working closet for Winter, including some wigs for Winter to wear, Claude bought everything in the cart. He seemed almost proud of himself once it was finished, a healthy glow whenever it came to fashion. It was a shame Claude wasn't a woman, he might have been positively sparkling. "Alright, so, let us know when there are any ducks you'd like." It didn't take long for Winter to decide on one she wanted. Claude quickly noted down that Winter's favorite color was blue. Little did they know, he was going to report this to Cynthia so she would have Winter's room - not the getting well room but the one she would be given to sleep in - but a room she would have for herself that would be hers to call home.

"Everything should arrive as a package by the end of the day." Claude said to Winter, giving her a friendly smile. "Now, here's-" That was when Winter seemed to blank out. "Wait, her eyes." They grew dim, as if unaware. The doctor warned them that this may happen of course, the household was briefed on this. It took a moment before Winter seemed to come back to herself, her brain back into focus. "We ordered clothes and a duck." Elise explained, a patient expression on her mien. Claude nodded, and fished something out of his pocket after returning Elise's holo back to her. "Here, this is your new holo. It comes with an instruction manual, and a wireless charger." The manual would explain all of the holo's functions and how to use them. "It also has the highest cyber security, so don't be afraid to use it." It was the same model both Claude and Elise had, and naturally, each holo was customizable for colors. Elise's was grey, while Claude had a vibrant green.

Elise decided to step out to get some water, and get herself some breathing room. She was tired of all this talking and wanted to change back into her nice silky nightgown that felt like wearing clouds. As she stepped to the kitchen - making sure to slip the cast back on - she caught Cynthia currently working on lunch with the other chefs. Hopefully they wouldn't notice her as she made a beeline for the fine glass and the water dispenser. "What's happened? Is everything okay?" Cynthia asked, looking at her. The woman alays loved Elise as a daughter, but her only mother was Mirabelle. She had affection for Cynthia of course, but the black eagle couldn't really call a woman as soft as Cynthia her mother.

"It happened, so I decided some water might help flush the confusion out." Elise muttered, staring at the floor, acutely aware of all the eyes staring at her. "I see. Please, Elise, take good care of your new sister. Do make her feel welcome here." Cynthia's eyes sparkled. "Lunch will be ready soon, could you tell your siblings that?" Elise made a face, and turned with another word. "I know, it's hard on you. It'll be good for you too, it hurts to see you shut in your room so often." Elise sitffened, not feeling like turning around. "It will be fine. I will inform them." She didn't want to give Cynthia a hard time, but there was a good reason why she shut herself away.

So with a glass of water in hand she arrived at the getting well room and handed it to Winter, pulling the cast back off. "Here, some water. Cynthia says lunch will be ready soon." She frowned, looking Winter in the eye. Did Claude and her say anything? "Tomorrow... would you like to talk to... 009?" They needed to know what she knew, and how much of a threat she would be. Allison wouldn't speak, but maybe Winter would get her mouth moving.

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

A family, a real family. It was strange, something Winter hadn't thought she would have... well... ever since that day. The Chrysanthemum had always told her that it was impossible, that no one would want to take in a child like her, a danger, a menace to society. A Mom, Dad, and two siblings. It was more than she could ask for. She wouldn't cry again though, she didn't want to cry again. "What?" Claude asked, Elise had gone to get some water, but more than likely she just wanted some space. Winter shook her head, "Just thinking," she replied, looking at the holo phone. "Happy?" Claude asked, he was smiling, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Yeah..." Winter admitted. It was her first holo phone too, she had always had a regular smart phone and then a flip phone.

"Hey, I'm not that weird psychologist. You can talk to me, you can talk to Elise too and Mom, all of us." He reached out, then thought better of it, seeing as how much of Winter was wrapped in bandages from the cuts and bruises. "I've never had parents before, I had my Grandparents, but their take on it was kind of free reign. I could do whatever I wanted, as long as I didn't get in trouble. Then I had the entirety of the Chrysanthemum Government acting as parents, but now... real parents." She shook her head, it was strange. "And siblings," Claude joked, nudging her. "Yeah," she smiled to herself. "Sorry I just, I don't really know how to feel." She was trying to set up the holo phone, reading the instructions and inputting information.

She almost put in her real name, then thought better of it. "Here, let me put my number in," Claude reached for it, Winter hesitating, then handing the holo phone to him. She watched as he typed away, putting in his, Elise's, and Cynthia's numbers. "What do you call Cynthia?" Winter asked, trying to recall. "Mom, but Elise just calls her Cynthia." Winter nodded, "Should I... call her Mom?" The word felt foreign on her tongue, all of this was happening so fast. "If you want to, I'm sure it'd make her happy." Winter nodded, making a mental note. "What about... Dad?" Speaking of which, she had yet to meet him.

"Don't worry about him, he isn't home that often. He goes off on location to film all the time, so I'm sure he'll be just as surprised as you when he comes back." He was some big director, Winter remembered them saying. Elise opened up the door, poking her head in, lunch would be ready soon. "Okay," she was hungry, would Cynthia make her eat vegetables? Winter didn't know. Elise's next question caught Winter off guard. "Yes, I'd like to talk to her." Winter nodded, they needed to know what 009 knew and Winter also had other questions she wanted to ask her. Like what she thought she would accomplish by kidnapping her.

Why was she working with 012? Had she known that 012 had an ability like that? Winter doubted it. None of them had seen that coming. Did 012 know? Perhaps he was just as surprised as they were to discover it? Winter's head was beginning to hurt, she had too many questions and not enough answers. "Sorry, my head is throbbing." She rubbed her temples, wincing.

It would take some time, but Winter would need to get better eventually. Then they could train and work on their synergy. Water and ice in tandem would hopefully prove to protect themselves against the vile slithers and the boys with powers who thus far seemed intent on killing them all. It was a rough situation and Elise continued to wish she never ended up a part of any of this drama. It would have been nice to live a simple life, staying in her room until she decided to rejoin the big screen and the community she missed, full of competition and actors and actresses thriving to do their best. An environment where the most skilled were the ones who succeeded, something like that suited the young prodigy well. Winter had talent in music, but would need help catching up in some areas. Elise had no idea how the girl was performing academically.

After announcing that dinner would be ready soon, Elise asked Winter about meeting with 009. She decided she may as well go out and say it. "While training, 012 found me in the woods. He attempted to make a deal to kill 009." She grit her teeth, shaking her head. "I didn't accept it, so he won't be doing anything. But... um, I hope you know, your 'Allison' is a threat." Claude looked almost alarmed. "Hey, should we really be talking about this with Winter still feeling ill?" Her head was throbbing, the effects of the drugs were still in her system. "I want to be transparent with her." Elise mumbled, wondering if she was making a mistake giving the ice girl a chance. "But she's proven herself to be an enemy. She can't ever go free, because we can't trust she'll sell all of us out." They would all die at the iron fist of the Chrysanthemum if 009 had her way.

"If I have to, I can have her killed. So please... make sure she understands not to have any tricks in mind. She'll only listen to you." The only way to make peace with 009 was through Winter. But the problem was that Elise still wouldn't be able to trust that peace. How could she? 009 didn't care about them, she had no respect for the Hresvelg name and was more than happy to trespass and kidnap, two clearly evil actions. Elise had been kidnapped before and none of her captors were anything but vile filth. 009 kidnapped, so she was the same as them. It was black and white to her, really.

"Lunch is ready! I hope I made enough variety for everyone!" They always made an excess of food because the leftovers would go to the servants to eat. Naturally, they needed sustenance too, and with the amount of variety, there was always plenty. "Here, did you know your bed could do this?" Elise pressed a button near the botto mleft side of Winter's bed and wheels began to turn and a control stick popped out. There was even a stand for any IVs to be carted along with it. "So you can join us at to eat without straining yourself." Claude offered his hand to help guide Winter on how to control the moving chair bed. It had adjustable speed and height options even, truly a marvel of technology.

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

"I was surprised that you even allowed her to live," considering that Elise had managed to open up a sinkhole, she was surprised that they had let 012 get away. "I know she's a threat, she's been a threat since day one." Winter had known that Janet would stop at nothing to prove that Winter was alive, especially since they had no body to bury. "So you intend to keep her here for the rest of her life?" Winter didn't know under what condition they were keeping Janet in, but she suspected it was nowhere near as nice as they were keeping Winter in. She would heal soon, hopefully and then she would be able to go to the spirit world and heal fully. Did Elise still want to go with her? Winter would have to ask her later on. "To be honest, I thought she might do something like break in, but I never expected her to kidnap me." Winter was convinced that everyone who worked for the Chrysanthemum had a few marbles loose.

"I'll make sure she understands," her head was throbbing, she wasn't sure why. Lunch was ready, but Winter didn't want to go down. "It's alright, I think I'm just going to stay here." She was hungry, but the thought of sitting in a loud room and trying to make polite conversation when her head felt as though it was going to explode was enough to make her want to cry. "Tell Cynthia that I'll do my best to join you all for dinner." She wanted nothing more than to lay down with the lights turned off for the time being. Once they left, Winter pressed the button to turn the light off and lay the bed flat. She wasn't sure how long she lay there for, but eventually someone opened up the door. "Ms. Winter? I've brought lunch," a voice whispered, placing the tray beside the bed.

The Doctor was right, Winter was back on her feet within a few days. She had yet to see Janet, but that was fine, Winter needed to compose her thoughts anyhow and she was still having moments of temporary blankness. While she could access her powers again, Yuuki had yet to visit her, but Winter wasn't sure why. She had tried calling out to him, but he seemed to be giving her the cold shoulder. Cynthia had somehow managed to completely redo Winter's room in the few days that she was in the wellness room. The walls were now blue, there was a chandelier with glass snowflakes hanging from it and the sheets had been changed as well. Aside from the stuffed duck Winter had picked out, there were a few different stuffed animals, all wearing bows. The beanbags had been changed out for a small couch and there was a large vanity with all sorts of cosmetics.

In another corner were the two violins she had yet to play, although her hands were itching to return. "What do you think?" Cynthia asked, positively beaming. "How did you get so much done in so little time?" The sheets had embroidery on them, she noticed. AWVH, Aurora Winter Von Hreslevg. Now if only Winter could spell that right, it was going to be a struggle to use her new name in public. "Well, I had plenty of help." Claude appeared in the doorway, he seemed happy. No doubt he had a hand in all of this, Winter was sure. Cynthia took Winter's hand in her own, she was warm, as always. "Ooh your hands are so cold. No wonder you're always wearing those gloves," she smiled. "If there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to let me know." Winter nodded, "you've already done more than enough, both of you."

Cynthia left but Claude lingered, hanging around in the doorway. Winter flopped onto the bed, sprawling. Even with all of her limbs stretched out, the bed was still much larger than she. It almost seemed excessive. "Elise helped too, but she's still asleep, that lazy butt."

Elise was disgruntled about the fact that 009 was allowed to live. "If it were my choice, she would be dead." She glared at Claude, still not forgiving him for that day. "Now we are wasting money keeping her contained." Claude grinned, unfazed at his sister's accusations. "I feel like if we did kill her it would put us on an even worse foot than we used to be." Claude admitted, the snake revealing his true colors. "We would never gain your trust if we killed her." For some awful reason 009 was important to Winter, no matter how irrational and ridiculous it may be. "I'll do what it takes to help us become a real family." Was he doing it for himself, or because it would make his mother happy? Elise didn't particularly know, Claude was always a bit mysterious. Trying to read him was like trying to peer into a dense fog.

Winter opted not to join them to eat lunch, she wasn't feeling too well after all. "Well, next time you are kidnapped and hurt, you will know that this bed is mobile." Elise said as an afterthought, quickly exiting the room without a second glance. She wanted to eat in her room if possible, but now that she was outside the black eagle had a feeling that that would not be within the realm of possibility anymore. Food was all laid out at the table and Cynthia was smiling. "Sorry, mom, Winter isn't feeling up to it yet." Cynthia nodded, full of understanding, but it was clear she was a little bit sad. "That's all right. She only just woke up, it makes sense she needs more time to recover." It all smelled delectable and wonderful. "Just having Elise joining us is enough to make my day."

Elise scowled, raising an eyebrow. "C-can you not make a big deal of it?" The servants were all staring at her as the conversation naturally drifted towards her. Claude and Cynthia enjoyed a lively conversation about activites they could do as a family during the summer. Cynthia's frail body made travel difficult but even so, Claude wanted to try and take her out on small day trips here and there, outside of the city. "Some fresh air out in the country side would be wonderful." He said, looking at her with concern. "Thank you." Cynthia was almost glowing. "That does sound nice. Would you come as well, Elise?" The ruby eyed girl grimaced. Why did the conversation keep drifting to her? Maybe if she didn't respond they would forget she was here.

And that was when the door burst open. A tall slender man in a travel suit entered, a severe look in his eye. He wore a monocle and poised himself in such a way all important men knew to. The servants rushed, quick to attend to him. This was without a doubt Jeralt von Hresvelg, the patriarch and leader of the Hresvelg family's main branch. "I have returned to my domain." He announced with a dramatic bow. "Oh, my knight, so you have!" Cynthia giggled, waving to him. Claude was smiling, and Elise frowned as she always did. Did he always have to do this all the time? Jeralt would always play a knight and Cynthia a lady whenever he entered the home. It was a tradition to hearken back to the first movie date they had together.

"I'm home! The directing is done, now the editors are going to polish it and put it all together for me to have the final look. It should only be a few weeks now." He bore a large grin. "Ah, I how I missed home!" It was a secret that Jeralt von Hresvelg, the strict and hard-to-please director was, at home, a very emotional and jovial man, full of smiles. It was irritating to the reclusive Elise who only wanted peace and quiet. "We missed you here too. Did you see my message, dear?" Cynthia asked, allowing Jeralt to take her hand with a gentle sway.

"Once I saw it, I couldn't help but come home. A new daughter! That's such an incredible idea!" Not only a new daughter but the fact was she was Winter Matsuri, or now she was Aurora von Hresvelg, with Winter as her middle name as a relic of her past. "She's not feeling well after the incident. We need to up security, dad." Claude was saying when Jeralt pulled his son in for a big hug, almost cracking some bones. "I heard you've been taking good care of her. I'm proud of you son, but be careful you don't get in over your head. I heard you were up to some dangerous things while I was away." Claude smiled sheepishly, unable to retort. He followed his heart, much to Elise's dismay.

Then Jeralt turned to Elise. There was a strange expression on his face. It was no surprise that her father saw the resemblance Elise had with her mother - delicate features, eyes as bright and cynical as Maribelle's was. "You're looking more lively. Just take your time, one day you'll be fine again." Elise stood up, even more annoyed. "I am not a child! Y-you don't have to coddle me! I will be fine when I choose to be!" She hated how Jeralt treated her like a delicate flower, unable to do anything but hide in her room. S-sure, just because it was true didn't mean it was pleasant to hear. She wanted not a father, but a man who recognized her talents and would accept her as an actress for his vision. But no matter what she did, Jeralt never once offered her a part. She didn't want to be his daughter. She wanted him to realize she was still good for the screen.

Winter had yet to meet Jeralt. She was currently sitting on the edge of the bathtub, unravelling bandages from her wounds. There were still some fading bruises, but that was the worst of it. Winter breathed a sigh of relief, holding her hands up to the light and looking at them. She nodded, knowing it was about time she stopped avoiding meeting her new... Dad. It was strange to think about, she had never even considered having a father. "You can do this," Winter threw the doors open to the closet, which had been filled with clothing Claude had helped her pick out, as well as clothing Cynthia had, had tailored from Elise's old clothing. She dressed slowly, examining herself in the mirror. She pinched the skin on her collar bone, no doubt a few weeks worth of Cynthia's cooking would fix that.

She shook her head, the soft satin falling over her. She tied the ribbon in the back and examined herself in the mirror once more. It was a delicate dress that fell just above the knee with white ribbons on the sleeves and around the middle. There were jellyfish printed on it, Winter realized. Shoes? She decided against them, seeing no reason to wear shoes indoors, although she did choose a pair of socks to keep her toes warm. "We'll find Elise after," Winter spoke to herself. She ran a brush quickly through her hair, then made her exit from her room. Where could she find Jeralt? Winter didn't know. One of the staff members was walking past, whom Winter flagged down. "Do you know where I can find Jeralt?" She asked, uncomfortable with the thought of calling him Dad or Father before meeting him.

"Yes, follow me, I was on my way now." Winter followed after her. She was nervous, strangely, an unfamiliar feeling. The maid led her to an office, it almost seemed as though doors were popping up everyday. "Sir? There's someone here to see you," the door was flung open, he was in the doorway then, staring down at her. Winter swallowed hard, perhaps coming here without Claude or Elise was a bad idea. "Sorry to bother you-" his expression suddenly changed, it almost seemed to melt into a smile. "Bother me? No, not a bother at all, come in, come in! I've been waiting to meet you." He shuffled WInter inside, almost pulling her into a chair beside the window. The office was brightly lit with a view of the garden.

There were books lining the shelves, no, not books, she realized, scripts. "Please, have a drink. Tea? Coffee? Water?" Winter shook her head. "I'm alright, thank you." She smiled, the butterflies in her stomach fading just a bit. He was an eccentric man, Claude had warned her of this. His mustache was grand and curly, his hair in a perfect coif. "my name is Winter and I'm your new... daughter." He smiled, clapping both of her hands in his. "So, you're the Winter Matsuri I've heard so much about. Don't be shy, show it to me girl."[/color] He took off one of her gloves, beckoning by wiggling his fingers. Winter was confused at first, then she realized what he meant.

Snow, a small flurry of it, in the palm of her hand. He laughed as though it was the best thing since sliced bread and clapped her on the back. "Marvelous, truly marvelous." The door inched open, "Dad?" Claude was standing there, it seemed the laughter had enticed him to the door. "Claude, come in my boy!"

Jeralt von Hresvelg, the the black vulture sitting on his perch, with his discerning eye and skill for evaluation, was undoubtedly the master of the house. All in the Hresvelg home bowed to him as the leader, and with skill and loyalty, he granted you warmth and care as a reward. Just as strong as his jovial smiles and his welcoming grins was his flaring temper. It was rare, but Elise knew it to exist. She last saw it when she was returned from her third kidnapping session, his fury was palpable, aimed at those who took her. He was a happy and trusting man, but a vulture is always willing to fight back if the time calls for battle. Elise wasn't sure what kind of memories she had with Jeralt was. "You're my daughter. I'm just so happy your mother finally returned and brought you to me." He said when he first saw her as Mirabelle grinned proudly at how talented her little offspring was.

What was Mirabelle's goal? Was she using Elise to buy her way back into the family after Jeralt cast her aside in favor of sweet innocent Cynthia? Elise didn't know, even as she lay on her bed, trying but unable to sleep. Her mother had eyes red like hers, full of ambition and desire. She often spoke poorly of Jeralt and Cynthia after the falling out, even little Elise could remember this. "The revenge of women who are scorned is to become more talented than anyone else." Her mother would always tell her every night. "By showing you are better than the rest, that is how you can succeed. Prove that no one can replace you, no one can get rid of you. Then you will be invincible, Elise." She was training her so that she wouldn't be the one thrown aside. Jeralt was a passionate man, and he made the mistake of having so much passion he ended with two women at his side.

In the end, both Mirabelle and Cynthia remained at his side. The star actress came back with her budding daughter in tow, and life seemed to stabilize. In the end, even petty Mirabelle couldn't hate anymore and she and Cynthia, with their second chance, became fast friends. "I won't feature her in my films, Miri." Jeralt said one day when Elise was hiding from Claude who wanted to show her his math homework to show off his skills. "And why is that? She's very talented, can't you see? Let her star, and you won't regret it. She'll become irreplaceable, Jeralt!" But no matter what Mirabelle said, Jeralt would never budge. "I love you both, but I can't do that."

Why was her mother fighting so hard for that? Elise didn't know, even as she clung to Mr. Stuffles in a vain hope to suddenly gain realization. There was none, this wasn't the kind of story where she would somehow have insight into her enigmatic father's head, her deceased mother's dreams. "Too many thoughts. I should take a walk." So Elise pat Mr. Stuffles, not wanting him to feel lonely as she stood up, hopping off of her bed. The black eagle crept through the dimmed halls - there was always some light, as there was a night shift for the servants to rotate on and off of - and she stepped through her home. Claude's door was open it seemed - was he also out?

There was a light in the Master's room at the top floor of the Hresvelg Estate. His voice carried through. "Don't be shy, show it to me girl." Then after a short pause there was clapping. Elise decided she didn't want to go in after all and remained out of sight. "Marvelous, truly marvelous." The door opened as sure enough, Claude made his way in. Were all the children unable to get any sleep? If Elise showed her father her own progress with the rain, would he finally decide she was talented enough to be worth a part on his camera?

❝I put my arms around myself and I'm unbreakable.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#BDA0CB ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #F7B3DA

|| Dear Winter || AJR ||

Winter was used to showing off her power by now. Everyone wanted to see it, it was one of the reasons Winter kept it a secret. Well, that and she was legally mandated to never show anyone outside of those who had been authorized to see it. It was almost freeing, getting to use her power whenever she wanted. Almost, because the power itself was an incredible restriction, including the rules that came with it. Winter didn't mind showing it to her new... Dad of course, because that was someone she was meant to trust, right? Then again, could she really trust someone who was drinking coffee at 9 PM in the evening? Winter wasn't sure. It seemed a ridiculous time to consume that much caffeine.

Claude knocked on the door, he was beckoned inside too. "I see you've already met," Claude smiled, no longer hanging in the doorway. He fixed himself a cup of tea and pulled up a chair, it seemed they were sitting in a circle now. "Yes, we were just becoming acquinted," Winter took a sip of her water, wondering if crazy just ran in their veins. She had thought the others were eccentric, now Winter knew where they all got it from. Then again, she couldn't exactly be called normal either. "I hope you've settled in well, I understand it was a bit rocky at first." Winter nodded, "I'm fine, don't worry about me." She scratched her cheek, she was all healed up now, thankfully. Except for the occasional bout of confusion, which the Doctor had promised would not be a permanent side effect.

"My dear girl, it's my job to worry. I am your Father now and I do take that responsability seriously," his expression changed, not pinched per say, but a bit more serious, a bit less whimsical. "Elise my darling daughter, there's no sense in lurking behind the door when I can see your toes." He chided, taking a sip of his coffee as though to hide his smile. Was it a coincidence that they had all come to see Jeralt? If Winter had any blood relation, she would have thought it to be sibling telepathy. She most definitely Thought Claude and Elise had some sort of communication ability, aside from the glances they shared. Was it due to having the same Father? She wasn't sure.

"Well, I should probably get to bed-" Claude shook his head, "No Winter, we're all here now. Stay a while longer," she hesitated, then decided to remain, propping her cane against the chair instead of holding it in her hand. She was slightly less tense with both Elise and Claude here, wondering if she should take her cues from them. "Thank you," Winter said suddenly, wondering if what she was about to say was strange. "For letting me stay here I mean and for adopting me." She had believed ever since the incident that she was unlovable, that no family would want her. She had been wholly convinced that she was a menace that needed to be kept under lock and key. Now Winter was beginning to see differently. It was funny, what a little bit of tough love and time could do.
