Introduction

The small, quaint town of Bellingstone is nestled right in the Appalachian Mountains in Western Pennsylvania. Though it was once a quiet, secluded area, with the building of a new highway, it's become a rest stop for countless vacationers and roadtrippers. But, even though this little town appears innocent on the outside, it houses deep, dark secrets.
Bellingstone was founded in the early 1800s by two young men; Felix Wolff, a German immigrant, and his friend, Achilles Dubois, a wealthy Frenchman. Though one was a naive foreigner who barely spoke a word of English and the other was a well-to-do businessman, the two were able to strike up a close friendship when they realized how close they actually were. As it turned out, Felix Wolff came from a long line of German werewolves whereas Achilles Dubois came from an ancient chain of vampires. At said time in history, both of their races had been hunted to near extinction by those who called themselves Hunters. With the idea to form a town to protect these supernatural creatures, the two set out and purchased themselves acres upon acres of wilderness in the mountains.
The town seemed to appear almost overnight with the help of werewolves and vampires alike. By the time winter rolled around in 1818, Bellingstone had become a fully-fuctioning town that was, more or less, invisible to the outside world. By the time the Civil War had passed over the rest of the United States, the population of supernatural creatures had increased considerably, exceeding a few hundred. Until 1956, only one or two lost people a year would pop up in the town and "disappear" when a few young vampires were unable to contain themselves. With the Interstate Highway System, which was built in 1956, Bellingstone suddenly found itself a major rest stop on the way through the Appalachian Mountains. The town completely changed, attempting to keep up with the growing number of tourists who stopped on their way cross-country. By 1980, Bellingstone had near doubled in size, though not population, and all but lost its small town vibe.
In 2010, a family of tourists disappeared without a trace. While authorities searched for them without luck, the citizens knew exactly what had happened. A young group of vampires, without anyone knowing, had attacked the group and drained them of their plasma before anyone could stop them. Though the young vampires were punished for their wrongdoings, the werewolves couldn't help but feel a sudden distrust toward the vampires. Soon, the two main races of Bellingstone became adversaries, avoiding the other as much as possible. And yet, life continued on until a group of Hunters appeared in Bellingstone, certain that the disappearance, which had been passed off as a group of lost travelers, had to do with the supernatural creatures they'd been fighting to find their entire lives.
Now, with three groups against each other in Bellingstone, how will this small town be affected?
The werewolf pack of Bellingstone has always been united. It functions as a normal wolf pack would with close ties, an obligation to feed the young first, and an undying loyalty to the elders. The male and female pairs are mated pairs who live as married or dating couples in society. The werewolves, in human form, are usually tanned, toned, and look as if they spend every day in the sun, which they mostly do. Werewolves can be created through werewolf-werewolf relationships or werewolf-human relationships. It is a dominant trait. Werewolves can be created through the bites of another werewolf. They can change form when they wish to but are forced to change their form each full moon for the entire night. Wolf forms appear simply as larger-than-normal wolves. Usually, one of the alpha pair's offspring will take over the pack after the prime of the leader has passed. However, in the past, other males or females have been able to take over. Currently, however, the Alpha Male is a direct descendent of Felix Wolff, one of the founders. A bit of a wild card, he's only dating his Alpha Female. They have not married in their human forms nor have they mated.
Werewolf Strengths: Wolf form, super speed, super strength, heightened endurance, enlarged fangs that can tear flesh easily, telepathy between pack members which can easily be turned on or off
Werewolf Weaknesses: Forced to transform every full moon, they can be killed with any weapon but they are especially vulnerable to silver, silver in general, wolfsbane
Age at Which They Show Signs of Werewolfism: Symptoms of werewolfism appear during puberty. Therefore, most female werewolves show their wolf form before males.

The vampires are just as closely knit as the werewolves, in their own sense. While they don't have as much of a ranking as the wolf pack, they are still very close and spend a lot of time around other members. The current coven leader took over after the untimely demise of Achilles Dubois and has held control since. Since human blood is so hard to come by nowadays, it is a delicacy to the vampires. Instead, they find themselves reduced to hunting animals such as deer in the woods, like the werewolves, to receive their blood fix. Though their flesh is not sensitive to sunlight, it is usually pale. Their eyes, however, are sensitive and they are usually spotted wearing sunglasses or hats of some sort to block out the light. Unlike the werewolves, they usually live longer and seem to retain their youth more. A child produced in a vampire-vampire relationship will become a vampire. However, a vampire-human relationship or human-vampire relationship results in a human child. In less words, it's a recessive gene. Vampires can also be created through a bite by a vampire.
Vampire Strengths: Super speed, super strength, fangs, one or two powers which they learn to control and perfect over time, naturally charismatic and seductive
Vampire Weaknesses: Must feed at least once a week to live (most vampires feed much more than that), silver, holy water or crosses, wooden stakes, their eyes are sensitive to sunlight
Age at Which They Show Signs of Vampirism: Vampirism shows signs in infants. It is a lifelong thing though they will not gain powers until old enough.
Coven Leader: Cristine Rose Hart
Right-hand Man/Woman: Livius Vibi
Vampires (100+ years as a vampire): Lenora Vivian Ruth; Nikolai Lannister
Fledglings (0-99 as a vampire): Isabella Gabrielle Clarke; Sterling Pearce
(Suggested faceclaims include: Ezra Miller, Benedict Cumberbatch, Drew Barrymore, Anna Popplewell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessica Chastain, or any pale skinned, high-cheekboned or regal-looking actor/actress)
The Hunters are basically a group of humans who hold some sort of grudge against supernatural creatures. Quite a few of them were born into their role while some joined after the suffered a loss or were pressured into it. It's a bit of a rigid group with many guidelines. A child born into the Hunters is raised normally until age fourteen. Once they reach said age, they are forced into the world of Hunting and join the branch at age twenty-one, if successful. There are countless branches of it, but this one in the eastern portion of the United States moved to Bellingstone after hearing word of the 2010 tourist accident. They've been here ever since, even buying a few homes and trying to settle in amidst the creatures they plan to kill.
Leader: Sebastian Harding
Deputy (Second-in command): Alarick Morgenstern
Hunters (21+): Nika Boronina; Ariana Kaye
Hunters in Training (14-21): Annelise Lautsen;
(Suggested faceclaims include: Basically anyone who looks as if they could hold a gun)
The other citizens of Bellingstone include humans, coven-less vampires, pack-less wolves, or even ex-Hunters. The humans are unaware of the supernatural creatures and have taken up jobs just like everyone else to make a living. The vampires and wolves that act as loners are usually shunned slightly by the Dubois Coven and the Wolff Pack-- at least the two groups can agree on something. Ex-Hunters are extremely uncommon in the town. Most Hunters either die while working or retire and move away. Hunters that retire and stay are greatly respected, though. However, some might stay or maybe there's a few Hunters who simply gave up their life as a Hunter?
Humans: Elena Montgomery; Jeremy Donovan; Demetria Hawke; Leighton Harding
Loner Werewolves: Derek Hale; Sara Yasmine Jay; Albrecht Wolff
Loner Vampires: Benny Lafitte
Ex-Hunters:
Other: Caterina DeLuca; Nettie Duncan; Meela Carnegie

When he reached her, he immediately wrapped his arms around her in an embrace, the warmth of his body melting her anger away. Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around him as well, snuggling her head into his chest, the smell of him welcoming. "Ariana...I'm sorry. I'm so so very sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you...this is just...a lot." She nodded immediately, reassuring him. "I know, I know... she whispered back. The fog in her brain seemed to clear, and she realized that he would never actually mean to hurt her. This was Jeremy standing before her. Sweet, loving Jeremy who would never want to hurt anyone. "I am still worked up after watching you almost die like that." She briefly wondered how she would have reacted if their positions were flipped. She had spent so much time being angry that he wouldn't see her point of view, that she didn't even consider his own. He had walked outside to not only see his date being choked to death, but it was by a supernatural creature that supposedly only existed in fairy tales. It had to be a lot to process.

"There's a lot we have to discuss..." she said, somewhat sadly. "Why don't you take me back to your place so we can talk?" Ariana let Jeremy lead her back to his squad car, where they both hopped in. The drive was silent, and she knew he probably had tons of questions running through his head. Just as she had many thoughts spiraling around in her own mind. She wondered what he was thinking. She wondered what he was going to ask her. And, most importantly, she wondered what he was going to think of her after the conversation that was approaching. The drive wasn't as long as she would have preferred. She felt as if she needed more time to prepare herself before being bombarded with questions. He pulled into his driveway, and let her into his place. She was surprised at how nice it was, since he was so young. But she didn't complain in the slightest. As she took a seat on his couch, she realized that he wouldn't have any alcohol in the house, since he had said he was too young to drink. That meant she'd have to do this completely sober. Damn.
She waited for him to take a seat, hoping it was beside her, although she would understand if he didn't want to. Her eyes met his, and she took the plunge. "So, what would you like to know first?" she asked, bracing herself for what was coming next.

Axel was his best friend, and regardless of Sam's moral views of Axel's actions, he had to respect them. That was his his role as beta. Sometimes, for the pack, he had to put his personal views aside. That was just the way it was for a wolf. "So, what's up? You're more quiet than usual..." Axel's voice brought Sam out of his own mind, back to the present. "What? Oh..." He cleared his throat, attempting to search for an answer. "Nothing's up. Just thinking." he said simply. His eyes darted over to Cat, who was most likely confused as hell. But what could he say? The answer was nothing, because Cat didn't know that the pair were werewolves. He couldn't be honest with Axel in front of her. He just had to be quiet.
Absentmindedly, he pulled his phone out of his pocket, checking for a message from Caroline. Yet his phone had no new messages, and and he slipped it back in his pocket. She never really took very long to respond, probably because texting was really the only way they could constantly communicate. Where the hell was she? She hadn't been very specific in her message, just saying that she wanted to see him in a few hours. He couldn't really imagine what she would be doing alone, that he couldn't know about. If she had just been at the bar, he could have stopped by. And if she were at home, he could have gone there as well. No, she was up to something, and he had a bad feeling about it. And he wasn't there to protect her. If she got hurt, or even worse, he would never forgive himself.
With his phone back in his pocket, he began sweeping once more. Although, his mind was extremely focused on the phone in his pocket, waiting for it to vibrate. To hear anything from her. He barely focused on the other two people in the room. Axel was smart enough, he would guess something was up. His mind was now far away from worrying about the pack meeting earlier, or even pissing Axel off. There were far more pressing matters in his point of view. Anyone would think he was overreacting, but he just knew something was wrong. As a wolf, he had a sixth sense about trouble. They all did. It was animal instinct. And that impending doom feeling was growing heavier and heavier in his chest.

"Yes, that would certainly be okay." The offer to run away with the book man was too tempting to not take up. Sterling was older than Leigh, but he was smallish, not very threatening; he was a kind man, too, from what Leighton could garner, and he’d given her no reason to fear him. The relative weakness of her little body didn't frighten her, and though this stranger could harm her, she didn't worry about inviting the possibility.
He lead her away from the sanctuary of her snow laden yard down the side walk in silence, and Leighton took that opportunity to study his face-his cavernous eyes, deep and dark like some cave that needed to be explored, before she eventually grew bored and began skipping so that the sloshy snow underfoot splashed up her pajama bottoms. It sent chills racing up her legs. None too soon, they arrived at his home. It was quaint, like something from a story book and it made her smile. A scary or dangerous man wouldn't have so sweet a house, right? She thought idly and before she could pass through the threshold behind Sterling, he piped up, startling her to the point of nearly jumping out of her boots. Not because he was scary, she reminded herself, but because he had been so quiet, she hadn't expected him to talk.
"So, do you have a favorite book?"

"You...uh...you could take your jacket off if you want." He started nervously as he gestured to a rack just behind her before adding "Oh, and your shoes can go there too..."
"Thank yah, thank yah." Leighton replied in a silly caricature of her own voice before stooping down to peel off her rain boots and her 'Michelin Man' pink puffer. "What's your favorite book?" She pried, eyes focused on the task before her, not paying him any head; unaware that her flushed skin and her exposed body that had worked up a mild sweat in her coat on the walk up there had created a scent that was very sweet to a vampire-a sanguisuge like Sterling. Temptation was a bitch.

If Derek Hale had been an ordinary werewolf, be would probably have backed down at this point--held out his hands and said something placating in an attempt to avoid exposing werewolves to mankind...but Derek Hale was not ordinary. He was a hot headed, alphic, testosterone driven male with his mate on the line(Supposedly). His eyes had gone feral, he was breathing heavily, and he was fighting for control. Werewolves could smell subtle differences in different emotions, and to a born werewolf who'd had his entire life to memorize the distinct flavors of the olfactory-emotional spectrum, he knew exactly just how enraged Albrecht was...but it hardly rivaled his own temper. This older alpha was fighting because Derek was fighting, Derek was fighting for his lover-for his claim.

After Axel dismissed the pack meeting and left for the diner, she presumed, though he rarely consulted her on anything he did, so truly he could be anywhere, Leanna returned home. Usually, when she had some spare time, she headed down to the diner. Her shift didn't start 'til early evening, but there was always something to do there, be it sorting the books, ordering supplies or even a little help with customers. She even tried to use being there for work as an excuse to spend a little time with Axel, in the hopes of improving their always slightly precarious relationship. However, following recent events, the last thing Leanna wanted to do was spend time with her mate, especially if that new waitress he'd been flirting with the previous day was working. Besides, she was far too stubborn to go and see him. It would feel too much like she was trying to please him. This morning at the pack meeting she'd allowed her anger towards Albrecht to get the better of her and she'd agreed with Axel with so much vigour that some may have even deemed her behaviour sycophantic. But she wanted Axel to know she was angry at him for what had happened with Cat at the diner yesterday, so going to work wasn't an option.
However, Leanna could not just spend the day sitting around the house wasting time simply to spite him. She set about cleaning the kitchen in an attempt to fill her time. But the inane task was not enough to keep her mind off all the things that were troubling her. Albrecht was back. Was he really going to try and reclaim his position as Alpha? How could she bear to look at him every single day and have all those memories flood back to her? With him gone she was only just able to banish him from her mind, but now he was back, she could hardly manage to avoid seeing him, let alone thinking about him. And Axel. Their relationship had always always given Leanna cause for concern, but over time she had simply come to terms with the truth and tried to make the best of it. But between the new waitress, Cat and Axel's apparent utter lack of concern for flirting with her right in front of Leanna and Albrecht and all the feelings seeing him had dragged to the surface, her issues with Axel were weighing even more heavily on her mind than usual.
Eventually, Leanna hurled the cloth onto the surface, no longer able to continue the menial task. She immediately went to her bedroom and changed into a pair of black leggings and a tight fitting white t-shirt. She pulled on a pair of sneakers, scraped her hair into a high ponytail and left the house, locking the door behind her. She launched in to a jog the moment the key was in her pocket, her feet pounding against the side walk. Leanna had always found running helped take her mind off things, and it still proved to be correct. The moment the wind was whipping past her face, tousling a few loose strands of hair, she felt better. She was not as naive as to say her worries simply evaporated, but at least she could cast her mind elsewhere.
That was, until she reached the bar. She paused at the edge of the road opposite it in preparation to cross the road, when suddenly, she saw Al. Leanna froze. Albrecht was stood beside a car at the curbside. Directly in front of him was a man Leanna didn't recognise, but who obviously wasn't pleased with Al. His stance was aggressive, as though he was squaring up for a fight. Near the pair stood Sara, looking a little more than nervous. Leanna stood and watched their exchange, rooted to the spot. Even when the 'walk' sign showed and everyone else crossed, she didn't move, not wanting to stay, but unable to walk on by. She watched Al respond aggressively to the man before turning to Sara and asking her something. Sarah kept her eyes fixed to the floor in such a reticent way that Leanna wouldn't have known she'd responded, was it not for the slight movement of her lips. Then, in horror, Leanna watched the man stand up over Al in a predatory fashion, and it was then that she realised he was in fact a wolf. In one swift movement, he shoved her former fiancé in a gesture that more resembled a punch.
Oh shit, Leanna realised, people were beginning to stop and stare warily. The unfamiliar wolf growled viciously and his eyes flashed angrily, his features becoming more animalistic by the second. Albrecht recovered himself and responded sharply to his assailant. Then, out of nowhere, he threw a punch at the man's face before kneeing him in the stomach. What an idiot! Leanna thought angrily. He'd been back in town not one full day and he was already fighting with strangers in public places, attracting attention to his hidden identity. Leanna knew she couldn't leave it a moment longer, she had to intervene, as much as she hadn't wanted to go anywhere near Albrecht, his stupidity was about to expose them all. She crossed the street as the other wolf pulled himself back on to his feet. He growled in a way no human could before landing a blow to Albrecht that sent him flying back into the car, leaving a dent in the body of the vehicle and God only knows what damage to Albrecht. Immediately, the car alarm went off, and any remaining person in the area who had still, somehow, been oblivious to the events instantly turned towards the source of the noise. Leanna was nearly at Al's side when the man took a step towards him, but he paused, turning to look at a crowd that had gathered, filming him.
Leanna's hand closed around Albrecht's wrist. He hadn't hit the ground, but his body was pressed against the car. She grabbed him, her grasp surprisingly strong for her small stature, dragging him sharply to his feet.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" she shouted at him, her brown eyes flashing with anger towards him. She began to march away from the scene, her hand clasped around his wrist, nails digging into the skin leaving tiny, red crescent moons in his flesh. Suddenly, she stopped, doubling back on herself so she was at the unknown wolf's side.
"And I don't care who the hell you are, but I am the Alpha Female in this town and there will be no public fighting between wolves!" Her voice was low enough not to be heard by the spectators, but her tone still conveyed her biting fury. She then turned to Sara, eyeing her. She didn't say anything to the woman but simply fixed her with a look of disapproval mixed with pity, before turning on her heel and beginning to march away, hand still holding onto Albrecht tightly, like an errant child who was expected to run away at any moment.

However, though Nik didn't understand it fully at the time, Gabrielle had agreed to go with him in spite of this. So just like that the pair was off again, racing once more through the wood but not with the same sort of glee as before but a darker fervor. The trees all seemed to be clawing at their clothing, outstretched arms reaching out to ensnare them. The jingling of icicles was no more a joyful song of winter but a sepulchral tone. The light of day dwindling away to evening. And all too soon they were at their destination one more, the time to plot and plan and scheme expired.
Nikolai looked over his shoulder to ensure Gabby was by his side before he tested the front door to see if it was unlocked, though it would hardly of stopped him if it weren't. Timing couldn't have been more opportune in his mind as the knob turned without catch and as he looked back again to lay eyes on an empty parking lot. "Perfect."
His footfalls were as silent as death itself when he entered the bar, like a great lion stalking it's prey. The whirling of machinery could be heard in the back by their heightened vampiric hearing and Nik just knew she'd be there, pouring over tapes for a still of his face. Timing was so very opportune indeed. He entered the office with a supercilious smile hanging from his lips, arms languidly stuffed in his pockets, belieling his agenda. "I hadn't know the bitch had such bite, you really are a quick clever girl aren't you?" His started, voice pealing like thunder, startling the wolf. "How did you realize that it had been I that killed that Russian hunter? Truly a very observant deduction, you have my respect...but that will not save you I'm afraid." He explained forebodingly, letting his tongue trace the rough contours of his fangs before he flashed her a more malicious grin. Caro didn't seem to be the type to be fearful, but here, trapped within the confines of the office with but one exit, she should have been quaking.
Vampires appeared human, that was their great guise so that they may lurk in the shadows undetected, but in that moment, the edges of Nik's mask were peeling away to reveal his true self-his words hitting her eardrum like a bullet to her brain. His eyes, the color of sunlight shining through a glass of whiskey, sparkled with murderous intent.

At last, Jeremy found himself sitting on the couch next to his date, the dog finding a comfortable position by his feet as Jer absent mindedly scratched Striker's head. "How far does all of this go? Hunter's? Vampire's? How does it all work? How long have you been a part of it?" He asked before his cheeks flushed red with embarrassment. "I'm sorry, again, I am not pacing myself...don't run off okay?" He teased, letting out a breath of hot air.

But, as he was going to reply to her, the phone had rung and Sebastian picked it up with a neutral greeting that was as straight to the point as it could get. Still watching Caro from the corner of one gray eye, he listened to Annelise speak on the other line, straining to hear due to the poor quality of sound his own cell phone had.
"Th-There's a man.. In the front yard with Leighton. I can see them right now.. But I-I'm afraid if I go out there he'll grab her, and I don't...."
"You don't...?" Sebastian prompted, his brow furrowing deeply as Annelise relayed the news to him. Abruptly, he sat upright and gripped the edge of the desk, his eyes darting away from Caroline as his mind raced with the possible scenarios. Why would Leighton talk to a stranger? Hadn't he taught her not to? Hadn't he drilled that into her since she was young? His Adam's apple bobbed nervously in his throat.

"I don't think.. He's human." The words hit him like a blow to the stomach, causing his eyes to widen. Not human...? His gut churned, raising goose bumps along his arms which had been covered by the sheriff's uniform he wore. By then, Caro was scrawling something down on paper and then getting up to leave. Seb desperately tried to signal for her to stay, but she'd already left and the door closed. Alone now with his thoughts and the phone next to his ear, Seb shook his head.
"Annelise, listen to me, I need you to get her inside now," he urged, voice tense not with anger but with concern and fear, two emotions that had, most likely, been unheard in his voice before. In all honestly, nothing truly struck fear into Sebastian anymore. Now, he was merely fearing for the life of his niece. But, then he had shot a glance at the note and confliction arose in his gut. Should he go to the house now...or should he go to the bar and try to use this video in the hunting of Nika's killer? "Just...just get her inside and go somewhere safe. Lock the doors, lock the windows. Take some of my guns." His voice began to quaver, the insecurity of a boy sneaking into his words. His uncle had trusted him to watch Leighton and, if he failed, what kind of man would he be? Sebastian's fear of the man was quite real though the man was dead and rotting six feet under now. "I'm...I'm tied up right now, but I will be there as soon as I can, alright? Stay safe."
With that, he reluctantly pulled the phone away from his ear and slowly pressed on the "end call" button. An exhausted sigh exited his mouth as he stood and pushed his chair back, hand securing around the note on his desk. In what seemed like slow motion, Seb shrugged his suede jacket over his police uniform and unfolded the note to read.
Camera’s in bar. Meet me there in an hour.

Well, an hour did give him enough time to check on Leigh and Annelise. Hopefully, she'd get the little girl inside without a problem but, in case she didn't, Sebastian knew he had to prepare. Sliding a hand into the top drawer of his desk, Seb gingerly pushed up on the bottom of what should have been a fake drawer. Well, it was a fake drawer in appearance, but he'd decided on a much more practical use for it ages ago. From the inside of the fake drawer, he pushed out and the drawer slid toward him, displaying quite the collection of Hunter's equipment. Stakes of all different sizes and bullets of silver winked up at him in the light of the office. Grabbing at some of the most reliable and least bulky ones, Seb shoved them into his jacket and then closed the drawer again before he exited the room.
"I'm taking your car," he told the cop at the front desk who, in turn, handing the sheriff his car keys. "I'll make sure to bring it back." Without even stopping, he scooped the keys up and hurried down to the cop car. In a flash of movement, he pressed his foot to the pedal and it peeled out of the parking lot toward his home.
Sebastian reached the driveway much quicker than he usually would have and, as soon as he'd stopped the vehicle, he pulled the keys out and slid out of the driver's side. With one of the stakes in his hand, Seb walked toward the back door warily while his eyes flicked around the yard. It unnerved him to see no one out there but, perhaps Annelise had gotten her inside already. Roughly, he pounded a fist on the door and then quickly growled, "Annelise! It's Seb." Back to the door, he held the stake before him and edged toward where he'd left his Winchester, which he grabbed and loaded with a round of silver bullets.

Annelise nodded shakily in response to his orders, moving her lips to choke out an answer before she heard the click of the phone. Hastily, she shoved the phone back into her pocket and poked her head up to see... Nothing. They were.. gone? No. No. No No No No NO! They couldn't be gone! Her heart sped to such an unbelievable pace Annelise was sure it would explode in her chest. The horrified tears she had been holding back let themselves loose as she let out a scream. This couldn't be happening.. This was all her fault!
She sobbed helplessly and stood throwing the front door open and rushing outside in search of the two. They couldn't have gotten that far, right? Of course they could have. As she reached the middle of the road and looked in either direction she saw no sign of the pair. She rushed down the direction she had assumed the man came from, tears falling relentlessly as she trembled in terror. Nothing. Annelise rushed back to the house as quickly as she could manage, slipping more than a few times and ending up covered in scratches and grated skin. She hurried inside, slamming the door shut. No matter how hard she tried to get up she couldn't. The second she entered the house, she dropped to her knees in defeat, hiding her face in her hands.
At the sound of Sebastian's voice, she let out a small scream, looking up and hurrying to the back door to let him in. "I-I looked away for a minute to talk to you!!" Annelise cried desperately, trying to convince him it wasn't her fault although she strongly believed that it was. "I looked to s-see where he took her and didn't see anything!" She sobbed shakily, her body quivering with fear. "I'm s-so sorry.." She whispered, backing away from him in fear.

Caroline ran a hand down her weary face as her eyes raked over the small screen before her, she felt like she had been here for hours, watching the images flash across her screen in a tedious haze. Unsure which tape the image would be on, Caro had four possible candidates stacked above the monitor, all unmarked and all just as boring as the previous and with each one she cursed herself further for not taking the time to mark them. Resting her head in her hand, Caroline sipped on her steaming cup of coffee before releasing a heavy sigh, her eyes briefly leaving the screen before she noticed herself walking into the bar into the clothes she wore yesterday. “This is it…” Caro murmured to herself as she became more alert, fast forwarding, she stopped suddenly as the vampires face flashed across her screen.

"I hadn't known the bitch had such bite, you really are a quick clever girl aren't you?" Caroline’s head whipped towards the doorway, her eyes widening in surprise mixing with shock as the creature from her screen, manifested before her. “How did you realize that it had been I that killed that Russian hunter? Truly a very observant deduction, you have my respect...but that will not save you I'm afraid."
Caroline rose quickly from the chair, her heart beat quickening within her chest as he cornered her in the small office, there was

Nik studied Caroline with quick and calculating chrysolite citrine eyes.
"If you hurt me, you will have a pack on your tail and they will not stop until they find you.”

In an instant, he was on her, if she'd of blinked-she'd of missed it. His long white fingers, as powerful and as cold as death itself, grasped at the collar of her shirt, hoisting her into the air and propelling her through the office wall. Sheet rock and splintering wood rained down over the confines of the small room at the force of the hit. Her body had punched a hole into the wall and landed her into the bar area. Nikolai sighed, disgruntled, as if annoyed by the fact the walls weren't thick enough to contain her after one of his blows.
He found himself leisurely strolling past Isabella into the next room where Caro lied on the floor, writhing in obvious pain. "You wolves are all alike, you know....think you are so far higher in God's graces than we fiendish vampires are...but let me fill you in on a little secret, dog. God made man in his image and therefore vampire in his image. You were built in the image of a canine, a beast meant to serve man." He drolled as he came to a stop in front of her before crouching down to her level to catch her wide eyes. "Deep down, you know this to be true. You long to serve in your rightful place. To kneel to subjegation. I will make the servants out of your pack members that they were born to be and will be the first vampire to possess supernatural guard dogs."

"My daddy used to read me The Velveteen Rabbit. I really liked that one." The smile that had been plastered on his lips faltered for a second, then two, as he heard the title. It brought back memories that were bitter, yet sweet. They were memories he had tried to shove into the depths of his mind shortly after Lily's death. It had worked, obviously, but he had not buried them deep enough for now nostalgia overtook him and he pressed his lips together tightly and forced another smile, this one not as genuine as the first.

"I know that book," he spoke softly, as if saying it too loudly would cause his voice to shatter like a glass pane. "I used to read that to my daughter years and years ago." He gave a more genuine grin now as memories came back to him. "I'm sure that was one of her favorite books, too." He crouched to untie his shoes as her eyes scanned the house. He hoped it wasn't overwhelming to her.
"What's your favorite book?" Her voice soft rang through the front hall suddenly and Sterling jolted in surprise. His eyes turned toward her, meeting her at eye level now because he was on one knee. She had, meanwhile, begun to remove the layers of clothing she'd bundled up in before running outside. The scent of human sweat was instantly recognized by Sterling. His nose, sharpened by his vampirism, would have been sensitive to pick up on much less. Therefore, the scent was overwhelming, causing him to swallow nervously as his gut fluttered with worry. No, he couldn't feed off of this girl...she was too young. He'd either kill her or...
Sterling couldn't believe he was thinking of it, but now it was just too good of an idea to ignore. He wasn't thinking straight in the first place, thanks to the rough resurfacing of memories. She looked so much like his own daughter, gone for years now. Yet, the child would inevitably grow up, as all children do. But, what if she was a vampire? Then, she would not only be a child forever, but she would also never die as his own daughter had. And, how peculiar was it that she had no father and he had no daughter? It was destiny. He had to. Temptation was a bitch. It pushed people to do things they would not normally do. Sterling certainly would regret it later, but right now, all he could think of was his daughter and how much this young girl acted like her.
"My favorite book? Probably One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." He stopped, still kneeling though he'd removed his shoes, and pondered the question. "I did love The Great Gatsby, though. Fitzgerald was a wonderful author and a wonderful man." He gave a quick nod and a smile. "I'm sure you'd love those books-- if you enjoy to read, I have many books you would probably want to read." He reluctantly stood up and the smell of her flesh became less intense.
"Would you like something to eat or drink?" he asked curiously, head cocking innocently. One of his two powers, the ability to affect another person's opinions and thoughts through charisma, was helpful in such a situation. It was a horrible thing to do, a deed he would probably regret, but he prayed that he'd either be able to convince her that vampirism was good, or turn her into a vampire while she was unaware. Either way, he would be getting exactly what he wanted-- a daughter that would never die or leave him.

"Oh, I am not only hoping for it, I'm counting on it." Nikolai words caused a shiver to travel down Caroline’s spine, the fine hairs on her arms prickled as the coolness of his macabre tones resounded within her. She watched him like a deer caught in head lights, transfixed, petrified, had she had sense perhaps Caro would have tried to run, but a part of her still knew how useless that would be, unless she transformed there was no chance that she could take on this vampire. Staring into his eyes, Caroline felt as if she were staring at death itself. Now there hadn’t been many moments in her life where she had felt truly terrified, felt like her life could be gone from her at any second, but right now she knew that her moments were numbers. What could she do? Pray to a god that she wasn’t exactly sure existed? Hope that somehow Sam could hear them down the phone and come to her rescue? Plea to this monster in a bid to spare her life? No, most certainly not, she was many things, but Caroline King was not a coward, she would face whatever was coming to her with dignity, that much was certain.
“They are going to enjoy tearing you to pieces.” Caroline spoke rather uncharacteristically, the harsh tones sounding foreign on her tongue, she wasn’t prone to speaking so candidly but it was true. The pack…Sam was going to shred him to pieces and she would not feel any pity for the man who took her away from Sam, from them all. Suddenly all her thoughts were blurred together as he approached her, his long fingers wrapping around the collar of her shirt. The moments following were further blurred, for when she next opened her eyes, Caroline lay on the floor beside her bar groaning in pain. She gasped for air as her head throbbed from colliding with the hardened floor; however what pained her most was a warm sticky feeling coming from her side. Whimpering, Caroline reached down and pulled a large splinter from her side and dropped it beside her. She groaned seeing the vampire appear above her, the salacious grin still present on his features. It was haunting and damned unfair that his face may be the last thing she may see.
"You wolves are all alike, you know....think you are so far higher in God's graces than we fiendish vampires are...but let me fill you in on a little secret, dog. God made man in his image and therefore vampire in his image. You were built in the image of a canine, a beast meant to serve man… Deep down, you know this to be true. You long to serve in your rightful place. To kneel to subjugation. I will make the servants out of your pack members that they were born to be and will be the first vampire to possess supernatural guard dogs." There wasn’t much that Caroline could comprehend about his words, her mind drifted in and out of a haze, but the words she did hear were enough to cause a hoarse chuckle to escape her lips. “You really as pretentious as they come, aren’t you?” she grumbled, “we may be dogs but we are loyal to each other to the very end, to love and cherish…oh but you wouldn’t know a thing about it, would you? Because at the end of the day you force people to become like you and that’s left for your little play things, is resentment, towards you.” For the first time, Caroline looked past Nik towards the red haired woman, “she could never love a monster like you.” Came her final hiss.

Before he could react, a growl erupted from Derek's throat and caused Al to suddenly swung his head around to look at the other male. His fist collided with Albrecht and sent the older male flying into the car he'd been trying to fix earlier with a sickening crunch and the accompanying cry of bystanders. The car of this guy's girlfriend. Smooth moves, Skippy," he couldn't help but think, though pain radiated through his body. He groaned in pain and curled up into a ball slowly as his bones mended themselves. Heat seared in the extremes of his body and then all throughout his form until he felt he wold die. Then, it stopped, and he pulled himself up right, though still sore.
His eyes honed in on Derek and he was ready to fling himself off of the car in full wolf form when a hand gripped his wrist. His blood suddenly stopped boiling as he looked to the side and locked eyes with Leanna. She pulled him roughly to his feet and he staggered for a moment, certainly surprised that she'd lifted him off of the car.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" she yelled. Her eyes shone with a rage he hadn't seen before or, at least, in ages.
"Leanna, I-" he began, but she gripped his wrist tighter and began to drag him along like a misbehaving hound. His eyes narrowed and he snarled briefly before suddenly calming. Leanna trudged off from the scene but, as if sudden remembering something, stopped and glared at Derek. Al nearly tripped over the smaller, female wolf.

As she lectured the younger male, Al smirked behind her at the male, giving him a look that seemed to say "I-told-you-so" even though he had been guilty of fighting too.
"See you later, kiddo," he snarled as they walked off, letting Leanna walk him away like a kid who'd been running off to the candy aisle in a grocery store. Once they were a block away, though, he suddenly stopped and reached for his other arm. Putting an arm tightly, but not painfully so, around her upper arm, he pulled her in front of himself and looked down at her.
"I can walk by myself, Lea," he teased, smiling down at her in way that was both friendly and affectionate. "Sorry about that, though, sweetheart. That kid seemed to think he owned the town. I know Axel would have been P.O.'ed about it, but I couldn't just let some young, hormonal boy walk around like that." He smiled still and then, slowly, he frowned. "So, what happened at your pack meeting today? I'm out of the telepathic loop, but I couldn't but notice a bunch of wolves growling at each other this morning. I, uh, assume Axel was talking about me..."

"Leighton!" he shouted, turning toward Annelise with a wild expression in his eyes. "Where is she?! Is she okay?"
"I-I looked away for a minute to talk to you!!" she cried, tears welling in her eyes and streaking down her cheeks. "I looked to s-see where he took her and didn't see anything!" The crazed expression seemed to melt from his face, replaced instead by a look of distress.
"...oh God," he whispered, his hands shaking so that he almost dropped his rifle in the hall. For a second, his grip did falter and the loaded gun fell toward the ground with a thump as it hit the hardwood flooring. "Oh God, Leighton..." He shot a glance at Annelise, his brow furrowed in worry, but didn't bother growing angry. In a flash of movement, Seb snatched his gun up and hurried into the yard with it raised in offhand position again.

"Leighton!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the surrounding forest. "Leigh! Leigh, where are you?!" The footsteps in the thin, remaining snow were easy to track. Seb sprinted after them, clutching his rifle tightly in his hands as he lowered it to his hip. The tracks led into town and then, suddenly, the track went cold. Too many footprints cluttered the walkway and, even then, not much snow still laid on the sidewalks. A few pedestrians hurried away from him. Who wouldn't have? He still looked crazy with an angry glint in his eyes as he held the gun tightly. Sebastian's knuckles had turned a bloodless white from the pressure and his face had also blanched with worry.
"Oh, fuck," he choked out. Without warning, he turned on his heel and sped out of town and back toward his home. Only minutes after he had left, he was back in the house and storming through toward the end table where he keys were. "Annelise! We're going after her, come on!" he shouted, gathering up the keys to his F-250. He hurried out to the truck and climbed in fluidly with the gun across his lap. Once she'd gotten in the car, Sebastian slammed a foot on the gas pedal and rode into town. "What did he look like, Annelise? Did you recognize him?!" Unintentionally, he was yelling at her and, in the space inside the car, his voice rebounded and sounded much louder than usual.

Annelise trembled, expecting a barrage of hateful screams, being told to leave and that she shouldn't come back, something overly dramatic and cliche. But instead, he simply disappeared, leaving Annelise in shock as she fell to her knees, sobbing hatefully. How could she let this happen? How much of an idiot could she have been? She trembled, struggling to get to her feet again as she tried to gather her emotions. If anything terrible were to happen to her, she might as well get prepared. It seemed like only a few seconds before the door slammed open again and Annelise screamed, nearly falling back down onto her knees.
"Annelise! We're going after her, come on!" He snarled, gone again in seconds. Annelise nodded, although he wasn't even there to see it "O-Ok." She replied breathlessly, hobbling out the door as fast as possible, tears streaming down her face against her will. Somehow, she got out the door and into the car with ease, although she was hyperventilating. Using everything she could, she held back a scream as the car sped off unexpectedly and Sebastian began to yell. "I-I-I don't.." She gasped, sobbing as she struggled to catch her breath, on the verge of a full blown panic attack. "He was average, but s-scrawny.. Totally wh-white skin and black or b-brown hair." She continued, stammering helplessly as her mind searched frantically to remember him. "He was c-carrying books but I don't.. I don't remember what he was wearing, I'm sorry..!" She cried her hands covering her head in fear.
