||In Depth||
Art is known to everyone as one of the most attractive doctors in the hospital despite his age. He has a well-sculpted face, and the stubble on his chin and cheeks gives him a rugged look. His brown hair is oak-like in color and kept slightly long and wavy. A few streaks of gray have already begun to show in his hair, and when he smiles, one can easily see the laugh lines and crow's feet on his face. Despite his almost care-free personality, he is diligent, and this can be seen from the occasional bags beneath his eyes. Often, he wears dress pants and a dress shirt with a tie to work, skipping the suit jacket all together.

||Personality||
Arrogant || Persistent || Diligent || Flirtatious
Look up the word "arrogance" in the dictionary, and a picture of Arthur Malone will come up beside it. Art knows he is one of the nation's best surgeons, and he doesn't let others forget that. Unfortunately, he is one of those people who takes confidence too far. Often, he feels it entitles him to call the shots or take control in a surgery. His title as Head Surgeon certainly doesn't help combat such excessive pride. His arrogance isn't meant, in his eyes, to upset anyone, but it often ends up doing so anyway. In the break room, he's often found cracking a joke or flirting relentlessly. However, Art is diligent, and when he enters the operating room, you know he means business. Despite his ever-growing reliance on coffee, his fingers remain deft and steady, allowing him to His dedication to his job, on the other hand, often consumes him life and relationships. He tells others that he wants kids eventually, but he's frankly far too consumed in his work to dedicate the time and effort child-raising requires.

||History||
Arthur Malone had a normal, happy family for the first five years of his life. They lived in Pennsylvania, and he had dreams of being an astronaut or a rockstar like every child, and a mother and a father to back up his dreams. For years, he was an only child, but his mother became pregnant when he was five. Initially, Art resented the addition of another child to the family, but as time went on, he grew excited at the idea of being a big brother. Unfortunately, he never would be one. His mother went into labor far too early, and both she and the baby ended up dying.

In that moment, all of his other dreams were thrown to the wind. Arthur wanted to be a doctor. His father left him alone, more or less, during his childhood, for he had a job as a biochemist to worry about. Arthur eagerly studied the sciences and mathematics, and they came to him easily especially with the occasional help of his father. He graduated high school with high honors and went to study at Drexel University. He applied for their early assurance program and was out of college with his doctorate in seven years. At twenty-five, he was accepted to Brantley for his residency. When his residency ended and a position opened up, he was eagerly hired on.

Art moved about the different wards as time went on, proving to his superiors that he knew how to handle himself in the operating room. For some time, he was the head doctor in the maternity ward. It was quite ironic to him to help so many pregnant women when he had previously been unable to save his own mother. By the time he was thirty-four, he was noted as one of the top surgeons in the hospital, and he met Katherine Benetton.

He was immediately smitten with her, and they spent hours together when they weren't working. She was, and still is, the only girlfriend he has managed to keep for over five months. They dated for a total of three years, growing closer every day, until tensions between them became too much. She wanted children, and he wanted to focus on his career. She wanted work to stay out of their personal lives, and he found it difficult to talk about things besides what he had done at work. They've been apart for a month now, but tensions are still extremely noticeable though they remain professional in the workplace.

Welcome to Brantley Hospital. Where the patients are treated, and the doctors are... well, employed, to say the least. Here, we take a closer look into the lives of the staff here at Brantley. After all..

The doctor must be well to heal the patient, after all.

It's the beginning of true winter, and that's when the hospital gets busier, with sniffling colds, to deliveries. Tensions are high, and relationships could be at risk.

It was far more common, in Arthur Malone's life, to wake up early to some sort of emergency call rather than his own alarm clock. Perhaps that was why that wintery morning seemed so odd to him. His apartment was cold, for he never bothered to set the heat to kick in this early. He folded his arms across his chest and half-shuffled about as he readied himself for the day. Within about forty-five minutes, he was locking the door to his apartment with his bag in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.

Arthur walked through the automatic doors of Brantley within another half hour, grinning at the secretary working the front desk as he walked towards her. "Good morning, Sarah," he greeted, leaning slightly on the desk. She beamed back at him, for she very rarely even had time to speak to the Head Surgeon. More often than not, he was running past her to deal with an emergency. "Have anything that needs doing?" She looked down at her books, surprised, for there was an uncommon lull in affairs at Brantley, it seemed.

"Er...Rikie Louis is in Room 577 for her blood transfusion," she replied, for it was just about the only case that didn't have someone responding to it. He nodded and gathered up his things as he made his way to the room where, just a few minutes ago, blood had been delivered. Art flashed a smile at her as he set down his bag and coffee.

"Good morning, Miss Louis," he said cheerfully, setting up a needle to draw blood first. "You know the drill, I'm sure. We need to run some tests to make sure everything is in order." Art walked up to her with the needle in hand. He hadn't drawn blood from someone in ages, and it was usually a nurse's job either way, but it happened to be a welcomed change to his everyday routine. "Need me to count to three?" His smile and the slight chuckle that proceeded it hinted that he was teasing, assuming she was familiar with needles by now.

Art smiled back at Rikie, momentarily relieved that she had accepted his sarcasm. It would have been terribly awkward, to say the least, if she hadn't. He disliked this menial nurse work he was performing. For a man who had spent his entire life trying to achieve greatness in the medical world, drawing and transfusing blood was comparably boring. Then again, it was a nice change of pace. It certainly helped that she was an attractive woman, plus Arthur so rarely had the chance to talk with patients. Most of his were under some sort of anesthetic when he dealt with them.

He held her skin taut with one hand as he rubbed alcohol over the site where, just a few seconds later, he broke the skin with the needle. Arthur grabbed the box of Band Aids he had been provided with and chose one at random, for all of them sported some sort of outdated cartoon character. "Bugs Bunny" he remarked as he covered the wound. "I'm jealous." Again, he flashed her a smirk before securing the blood he had drawn for transportation.

He looked towards the bag of blood then and carried it over to hang it in the rack. It took him a bit to find a suitable vein, but he did find one. "We'll go get this checked out for you while you get your transfusion, alright?" he said after she'd been hooked up with an IV to the bag of blood. Though he had little trouble going through the majority of this procedure, he truly did feel it was beneath him to carry the blood all of the way to diagnostics. Therefore, he pulled his pager out and contacted the front desk: Can I get a nurse in Room 577 to transport some blood from Miss Rikie Louis to diagnostics for testing?
