Zephyr Ferons

Annoying? What do you mean, annoying?

0 · 411 views · located in Camp Keystone

a character in “Welcome to Camp Keystone”, as played by cirrus_sd

Description

Name: Zephyr "Zeph" Ferons

Age: 17

What are you: Half-Human/Half-Dragon shapeshifter

Human Appearance: Image

Dragon Appearance: His dragon form is quite small, about the size and build of a very large ferret with a lengthened body and long tail. He most closely resembles a Quetzlcoatl dragon mixed with an Asian dragon (very serpentine with small legs and wings). His color scheme is grey/green with black stripes and a black ridge on the crown of his head. He has sharp claws, and even sharper teeth. His tail ends in a spade like shape, and there is a feathery like ridge on the top and bottom of his body, extending from the nape of the neck and the chin (respectively) and ending at the tail.

Eye Color: Gray/Green

Hair Color: black, but occasionally he dyes it.

Height: 5' 11

Weight: 160

Personality: Zephyr is quite the joker. He likes to have fun and pull pranks on people. He likes making word jokes and puns, and enjoys making people laugh (if that fails, then at least if he is laughing, he's fine.) He doesn't like to be too upset or see others upset, and always finds some way to brighten up. He is almost always smiling, but he also has a short fuse. Thankfully, his anger is fairly short as well. He finds amusement in almost anything, leading an almost childlike sense of wonder to his behavior. He often finds the strangest things fascinating, and has habits that some might find bizarre. He loves movies and video games, but will choose a book over anything.

Power(s):
Shapeshifting: Obviously, he can shapeshift completely into a dragon. He can also shapeshift different parts of his body into dragon parts (kinda like in American Dragon, but he doesn't have to announce it), pulling out wings in his human form, or covering his body in scales to protect himself.

Dragon Form: Some specifics about the dragon form that can be seen as abilities or powers: scales are impenetrable and can protect against heat, cold, and most weapons; claws are very sharp. Along with the saliva, it is loaded with anti-coagulants; although he cannot breathe fire, he can breathe steam; Dragon eye--his eyes turn black and he can see the true form of anything (with humans, it could be a soul, or if it's a shapeshifter, the original form. With a safe, he can see the inside of the contents, etc)

High Intelligence

Age shifting: He can change his appearance up to 5 years older than him, and any age younger.

Cabin #: (I will assign you one. leave blank for now.)

Likes/Interests/hobbies: Video games, Reading, Movies, Peanut Butter, Girls, Piano, Apples, Frank Sinatra (Sinatra is his hero, along with Gene Kelly)

Dislikes: Serious people, homework, people who boast, crying, sadness, raisins, guys who play guitars, cars, rain and thunderstorms

Crush: (edit this throughout the roleplay)
Enemies:(edit this throughout the roleplay)

History/Bio: Born to a dragon shapeshifter and human, he lived his first twelve years in happiness. On his thirteenth birthday, his mother, father, and uncle took him out. It was storming very hard, and they were involved in a car accident. His mother and father died, and if not for his uncle--also a dragon shapeshifter--he would have been killed as well. He has lived with his uncle since, and refuses to ride in cars and freaks out during thunderstorms. Despite this tragedy, he still tries to live his life happily, both in memory of his mother--who was always cheerful--and for his own sake. His uncle decided to send him to Camp Keystone so "he could terrorize someone else besides him."

Other: Owns a pimped out bicycle: it has a motor attached to it so he doesn't need to pedal, and a portable radio is duct-taped to the front, among other things.

So begins...

"Why are you taking me to camp again? I'm not a kid anymore...it's not like I need character development or anything. I'm almost an adult!"

"You ever think that maybe I want you to go to camp for myself?"

Zephyir grinned as the hair under his helmet whipped in the wind. "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked, "Dear uncle?"

"That I need a break." his uncle replied, looking straight as he steered the motorbike down the highway, "You have no idea how annoying you are."

"Annoying?" Zephyr reached out and tugged the man's ear, "What's THAT supposed to mean? How am I annoying? If I was annoying you could have just said so! And since when was being annoying a crime punishable by sleepaway camp? What if I get stabbed to death by a guy who thinks he's a girl? Then what will you do?"

"Hey! Stop that! Ow!" His uncle suddenly shrank, his ear slipping away from Zephyr's grasp. He shook his head, laughing. "You're just like your mother, sometimes," he said, his voice suddenly younger.

Zephyr smiled impishly, "I learn from the best." After a minute, he added, "You might want to change back. I see a police officer."

His uncle grew larger and returned to his previous size.

"See?" Zephyr said, "What would you do without me?"

After a few minutes, the motorbike pulled up to a large sign baring the words "Camp Keystone". Zephyr blew a stream of air out, ruffling his hair. Sounded like one of those things that was supposed to boost your confidence. Oh well...it was obvious his uncle wasn't going to change his mind. The bike came to a stop, and the older man cut off the ignition and stepped off. Removing his helmet, he hardly looked his age of mid-thirties. In fact, Zephyr guessed that he had shifted to look not a day over 25. He was more like an older brother anyways.

"So are you gonna pose as my uncle, or an older bro?" Zephyr asked as he pulled his own helmet off, ruffling his pitch black hair. His uncle shrugged, "I personally don't think it matters, but I'll let you know. Get your bags, and bike. I'll find a counselor."

Zephyr went for his bike first. As he unstrapped it, he looked around. He noticed a few campers. One caught his eye: a girl with a blue car. His breath caught in his throat, and he turned away. Humming Britney Spears' "Womanizer" he pulled his bike down and switched on the radio as he grabbed for his bags.

Arian followed behind Athest, trying not to roll her eyes. C'mon Arian, cheer up. You are suppose to be having fun. She took a deep breath and and nodded her head. I can do this. She listened to Athest chat about sign in and blue bracelets. Oh, how exciting. She looked at the guy with the bike and smiled, acknowledging him. She wondered what he was. She tried to guess. Is he a vampire? No, they can't walk in the sun. Arian gave herself another mental facepalm. How crazy am I? Trying to guess what type of mythical creature this guy is. Ugh. She decided she would just follow Athest. No questions. Just listening.

"Darling you'll love this camp," Laylani mocked her mothers chipper voice. She sighed and focused on the song playing in her new mint green hybrid. Her parents had thought she needed this camp, unlike her sisters she was less discrete with her powers, hell she was pretty damned proud of them. So they sent her here and went on their trip around Australia. She wasn't angry at them, maybe a little bitter but accepted it. It had been a long time since she felt excited or anxious about anything too. I mean she would be around people like her. Maybe not other mermaids but people who understood her... she hoped.

She pulled in her parking space and hopped out. Immediately she self conciously checked her outfit. whuch took her at least an hour to pick out. Her bikini was concealed underneath though chances were she wouldn't go swimming. Her mother just in case though gave her a ring allowing her to maintain her human form even when in water. She reached in her backseat and grabbed her luggage, she was a chronic over packer, and headed to find a counseler. FInally she found one talking to a boy with a motorcycle. She quickly walked up to them.

"Um Hi, I'm Laylani I'm new." She said moving a stray curl that fell in her face.

Shortly after his uncle left, a camp counselor found him. He listened to the guy introduce himself and list out instructions: follow him, sign stuff, get a bracelet, and started after the guy when he left. The girl with the car followed along, and she smiled at him. He flashed a grin back. Maybe this camp would be better than he anticipated...

Yet another girl joined them. She looked gorgeous: luscious blonde locks, great build. This camp was really looking better. She introduced herself. Laylani....seemed Hawaiian. Zephyr briefly wondered if she could fight well and would appreciate the nickname of "Punch." The other girl could be Judy. He smiled at the thought.

As he followed the camp counselor (Athest, was it? Weird name. Almost like atheist mispronounced) he saw his uncle catch up to him. He introduced himself to Athest as "Avery" and shook his hand. Zephyr smirked. Avery, Alex, once it was Anthony...so long as it was an A name, his uncle always picked it. Avery and Alex were his favorite. Zephyr often wondered why his uncle didn't just go by his real name. Occasionally Zephyr would go by "Jeff" or "Jefferson" but more often than not, he'd use his real name or abbreviate it to "Zeph". Perhaps "Agile" (that's uh-GEEL, thank you) was just too strange a name. Or perhaps he was sick and tired of people pronouncing it a-JILE. At least he admitted he was his uncle.

After the pleasantries and reassurances by the camp counselor, Agile took Zeph aside briefly. He knelt his head close to his ear and said too softly for human ears: "Are you sure you'll be all right?"

Zeph replied cheekily: "You should have thought about that before you sent me off here."

"I'm being serious."

One look at his uncle's suddenly black eyes confirmed that fact. Zeph nodded.

"Yeah, sure. I'll be fine. No need to worry about me. I'm always fine." He smiled widely to prove it and stuck out his tongue. He used to do that all the time when he was younger.

Agile seemed satisfied. He gave Zeph an awkward hug and patted him on the shoulder. "Don't get into any trouble. If you need me, my phone is always on."

"Got it. You gonna be able to sleep by yourself tonight, Uncle A?"

"Just don't get into any trouble."

Zeph gave a two-fingered salute, and his uncle gave a final nod before walking back towards the motorbike. Zeph watched him walk a few steps, then turned around and chased after the departing group.

Zeph strapped the red bracelet on as Athest talked. He studied it. Reminded him of one of those cancer bracelets. What color was red for? AIDS? Breast cancer? Blood cancer? Was there even such thing as blood cancer? Could you have too much blood? Would that make him fatter? Or would it give him even more energy? Maybe his heart would get bigger, to process all that blood...OR he could even grow a second heart and--

His train of thought was interrupted when he heard his name. He looked up just to hear Athest say "You two are in my cabin." The counselor went on to apologize about the smell of smoke and further instructions. Friendly instructions, but instructions either way. Athest pointed them towards one hell of a log cabin, and Zeph and the blonde girl walked towards there. It took him a minute to realize that he and the girl were walking in the same direction. Was he and Hawaiian Punch sharing the same cabin? Bizarre! This really was going to be interesting!

When he opened the door, he immediately gasped. This place was huge! All those Little House in the Prairie and Heidi cabins had absolutely NOTHING on this. Even the apartment he lived in with Agile was small potatoes compared to this. A smile grew on his face, and with a laugh he leaned his bike against the outer wall and started running around the place, wanting to explore every single nook and cranny. He skidded to a halt in the kitchen, some of Athest's words replaying in his head. A room. He needed to find a room. He immediately raced up the stairs and searched each room. He wanted to be the closest to the top. To the sky. He finally settled on a room that had a bit of a slope leading to the door, making it about 2 inches higher up than the rest of the rooms. 2 inches was good enough for him. He threw his stuff in the bed and hopped onto the window ledge, looking out at the rest of the camp gleefully.

Zeph had his face pressed to the window so hard that they had practically melded together. His eyes were nearly popping out of his sockets as he took everything in. He thought about switching to his other sight to see if there was any treasure, but something else caught his eye. It was that girl from earlier...Laylani or Lolana or whatever. She was lying on the grass, and he wondered briefly if she was tanning. Not like she needed it.

Still smiling, but a bit more mischievously this time, he scrambled downstairs and outside. He slowed his pace when he neared the girl, and tiptoed softly towards her, Mission Impossible theme song blasting in his mind. When he was about three yards away, he pulled his hands behind his back and ambled over. When he was nearly a foot away, he bent his head over her, smiling like a cheshire cat as he looked down at her. "Whatcha doooooin?" he asked childishly.

"Whatcha doooooin?"A voice said above her. Laylani looked up to see Zephyr standing above her.
"Oh god!" She gasped noticing a guy above her with a big grin on his face she instantly sat up. Her face flushed red as she brushed a hair out of her face.
"Uh hi?" She asked raising one of her eyebrows "To answer your question the grass feels nice and I'm bored. Now I have a question." She said standing up and examining her white shorts for a grass stain self consciously "Why are you hovering over me."

Zeph laughed at the girl's reaction. Priceless!

"To answer YOUR question," he replied, "To see what you were doing. And to get a better look at you. And to see your reaction properly. Though, if you want to be accurate, I wasn't really hovering. That would require my feet to be above the ground, but as you can see, they are planted firmly on the ground. Does the grass really feel nice? Let me try."

Kicking his feet out from under him, he plopped onto the ground and laid back, arms below his head. "Ahhhh....you're right. No wonder you're lying here. But why would you be bored? This camp is huge! So much to do!" He raised his hands above his head to reiterate his point. "I always try to avoid being bored. So far it has worked perfectly!" He rolled over onto his side and put his head in his hand, striking one of those poses he saw in those fashion magazines with the hot swim suit models. He grinned and laughed before relaxing.

"By the way, you said your name was Laylana or something? I'm Zephyr, but you can call me Zeph. Or Jeff. Or Jefferson. Or even Zephyrson. Possibly even Idiot, or Annoying one. I respond to all of them. Nice to meet you." He extended a hand.

Laylani laughed "Laylani and You talk too much annoying one" She said with a innocent shrug. She stood up off the ground and looked around "But your right I should find something to do. She sighed and looked at the glass of orange juice. She concentrated on it for a second before lifting it out of the glass and turning it to hundreds of tiny balls with her Hydrokinisis, then freezing them until they reached a snowball like texture with her Hyrdo-Cryokinesis and letting them fall back in the glass. She smiled, satisfied with her snack and grabbed the glass.

"Anyway I'm gonna head to the boat house," She smiled cheerfully "Later Zeph" She said strolling toward the boat house. Who knew maybe she'd see that cute boy from the office.

Zephyr sat up as Laylani left. Damn, he thought. He talked too much? Oh well. It wasn't like him to change his habits because of some girl he barely knew. She was pretty hot though.

He jumped to his feet and walked around the camp. It really was huge. He broke out into a fast run, and felt just inches away from taking off the ground. He loved running like that. Eventually he got to a treeline. Eyes wide at the size of the pines, his Cheshire Cat grin plastered on his face again, and he kicked off his shoes. Barefoot, he kicked off the ground and grabbed at the trunk. A couple yards above the ground, he scrambled up the tree. About halfway to the top, he brought his claws out. He noticed it took a bit more effort than usual to do so, but he brushed it off as not being entirely focused. As he neared the tip of the tree, he lowered his age so his weight wouldn't collapse the thinner branches. This, too, took more effort than he was used to, but again he paid no mind.

Finally reaching the top, he exhaled deeply for the first time since he started climbing. He clung to the highest branch like a monkey, smiling like crazy, and he started laughing at his achievement, eyes sparkling. He could see the whole camp from up here! It was great! A light breeze flipped through his hair, and he stared at everything below him hungrily. He noticed a lake where several campers seemed to have congregated. He saw a couple people playing soccer almost directly below him, and another girl literally playing with the water. He thought about yelling to see if they could hear him, but decided against it. Instead, he sat contentedly against the pine needles, imagining if this was what Christmas ornaments felt like.

Zephyr's ears perked when he heard a voice directed at him. He swiveled to see where it was coming from, and pinpointed it as it asked for him to come down. It was the girl with the car from earlier. Why did she want him to come down? Did she want to talk to him? Had he done something wrong? Or was she interested in him? What if she wanted to beat him up? It wasn't too far-fetched of an idea. Once he got beat up by the new kid for no reason at all.

Eventually his curiosity got the better of him, and he slid down the tree. He reached the ground in a few minutes, and jogged up to the girl, retracting his claws. He was a bit out of breath since he climbed down rather fast, and when he was close enough to the girl he put his hands on his knees and ducked his head, panting. When he caught his breath, he looked up. "Yes?" he asked, managing a small smile, "Did you want something with me? I hope it's something good, because I climbed down that tree so fast it threatened my health."

Arian anxiously looked at the guy who she could swear had claws before, and tried not to roll her eyes. "Uhm, yeah. I..." She racked her brain for something that didn't sound completely insane and sighed. There's nothing but the truth I guess. She took another deep breath. "I just wanted to tell you that you were hurting the tree." She shyly walked toward the tree and grazed her hand over the claw marks. The bark shook slightly as it mended together. She smiled and rubbed the bark. There ya go, poor tree.

Arian turned back toward the guy and shrugged. "Don't worry it's fine now. I'm Arian by the way." Well, that's that. She smiled and started walking off, trying to think of things to do.

He was hurting the tree? Ridiculous! He was about to say so when he noticed her putting her hand over his claw marks. Feeling a bit sheepish, he held his tongue for once and watched as she healed it. She turned towards him when she was done and shrugged. "Don't worry it's fine now," she said, "I'm Arian by the way." Before Zephyr could introduce himself, she up and left. Really? What was up with these people just abandoning him? Maybe he was fine with it the first time, but not the second. He followed after her, walking rapidly until he was in front of her, then turned around and walked backwards.

"So, Arian? I'm Zephyr, but you can call me Zeph and...well, I'd actually just prefer Zeph." He put his arms behind his head as he continued travelling in reverse. "Where are you going? What cabin are you in? Do you want to do something together? Am I ugly? I must be, since people keep trying to get away from me. Was that your car earlier? Why do you drive? Am I annoying you?" As if on cue, he felt a stump halt his moving foot, and he fell over backwards. He manged to catch his fall with his hands and ended up doing a handstand. He flipped back to his feet and held up his hands. "I'm okay. In case you were wondering." He smiled.

Arian was a little surprised when she heard the rush of words come after her. She smiled at Zeph, attempting to answer his questions, but never receiving the chance. When he finally stopped, after a crazy handstand, she uprooted some vines and gently placed them over his mouth. Maybe now, I'll be able to answer something. She smiled and took a deep breath. "I don't really remember everything you just said, but I'll do my best to answer you, okay?"

She slowly unraveled the vines and smiled. She tried to think back to what he said. "Uhm, you said something about a car...Yes I have a car because I don't really have any other way to get around." She shrugged. "Just like most people I guess." She stepped away from Zeph and let the vines return to their original places in the ground. "What were your other questions?"

Zeph found the vines completely unpredictable. Despite his uncle's threats to forcefully close his mouth, he had never acted upon them. This girl sure was different. The dragon boy was starting to like her a whole lot more.

Her answer about her car left behind a stone in his mind that refused to dislodge. Ignoring her request for a repetition of his previous questions, he continued pressing the one about the car. "You could always bike. Or get a motorcycle. Or walk. Or even rent out a private jet," he replied. He was about to argue that they were less dangerous than riding in a car when he heard a voice on a loud speaker asking for them to report to the bonfire. Distracted from the car to the prospect of a fire, he looked eagerly at Arian. "What do you think we'll be doing? Do you think we'll be eating? Marshmallows? Hot Dogs? I've always wanted to roast a hot-dog over a bonfire. Hey, let's go together, okay?" He didn't wait for an answer, and instead grabbed the edge of her sleeve and tugged her along as he walked.

Arian was about to protest but decided against it. Oh well. She also wondered what sorts of things would be going on at the campfire. She shrugged at Zeph and took her sleeve back, walking along next to him. "I don't really know how to do any of those, plus I love my car and find driving a lot easier." She thought about roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. Yummy, I haven't had any of those in a while. "I could go for some campfire food. I hope we don't have to go through any of those stupid ice breaker things though. I hate those. Everyone feels so awkward." She sighed. She really did hate being put in that position. Do they think we don't have social skills or something?

Zeph was on his tenth 'smore and fifth hot dog. He had always had a ravenous appetite, and now was no exception. As he gobbled his food, one of the camp counselors, Nick, had introduced himself and spun off the rules. Things like don't take off the bracelet, etc. The girl he had walked to the bonfire with had started talking to someone else, so Zeph was by himself again. Not that it really mattered. He knew how to entertain himself when he was alone.

There were some interesting people. A few Asians. Why were they so smart? Zeph knew that was a stereotype, but it seemed to be true. His ear flicked as he thought he heard some distant flute playing, but it was too far away for him to discern. Taking a break from eating, he leaned back to look up at the sky. It looked clear for now. A good thing. He'd hate it if there was a thunderstorm. He frowned a little at the thought, but was distracted when he started searching for constellations. He started whistling "Don't stop believing" as he searched for a particular star.

Zeph sat up and looked at Nick, smiling. "I dunno," he said truthfully, shrugging, "My uncle sent me here so he could have some peace and quiet. Buuuut....I do hope I get a good time. And probably learn how to shoot an arrow, or a crossbow. Then I could cosplay as Hawkeye and I could actually shoot things. Or I could become an arrow-shooting vigilante and live in the wilderness and shoot myself some birds." He laughed at the thought, "That doesn't seem very likely though. I like the city. City-boy, born and bred!" He punched the air when he said that, then looked at Nick. "Are you from the city?" he asked, "Also, is this area prone to thunderstorms?"

Zeph wondered whether to re-ask his question about the thunderstorms, but Nick's question about his abilities quickly got his mind off the topic. Eager to please (and show off a little) he answered quickly. "Pretty well," he said with a smile, "I was born with them, so they're pretty much second-nature. Plus my mom and my uncle have the same abilities, so they taught me some tricks as well." He grinned when he recalled the fun they had age-shifting. It made for an interesting game of charades. "What about you? You must have a good hold if you're counselor. What do you do? Is it cool? Is it useful? Is it interesting? Can you show me?" Zeph got more excited with each question, practically bouncing.

Ayano stood up and decided to head back to the bonfire to find out what her cabin number was. Even if she wasn't tired enough to sleep, she could still unpack her things and find out who she would be spending her time with. She made it back to the bonfire and found Nick. "Um, sorry if I am interrupting, but I was wondering what my cabin number was. I also seem to have lost my satchel along the way.... do you know where it might be?" Ayano waved a quick hello to Zeph and brushed a piece of hair out of her face.

Cabins? Already?

Zeph sighed a little at the curfew, but bounced up and headed towards the cabin. He was the first one there, and since no one was watching, morphed into his dragon form. It took a lot more effort than usual. Zeph was beginning to grow suspicious of the bracelet. Why were they forced to where it again? He was too busy eating during that part. With a shrug of his now reptilian head, he flew around the living room before zooming up the stairs to his cabin. Slamming the door behind him with his tail, he landed onto the floor and climbed up the furniture, looking for any sneaky places and hidden treasures the place might have. His dad used to hide chocolate around the room. Zeph's mother was a chocoholic, so that was his measure of hiding it. It didn't work so well since Zeph always found it. Eventually his father used it to find the best hiding place. He never did find it.

Growing a little sad, Zeph hopped onto the ceiling lamp and searched around it to cheer himself up. The swinging of the lamp caused a loud creaking noise that the dragon paid no mind to, but could be heard audibly outside the closed door. The weight of the dragon also added extra strain on the cable holding it up, and it began to grow taught.

Zephyr rolled out of his hammock, landing on the floor lightly. First day of camp! Excited, he got dressed quickly.

The dragon boy was dying to open the box, his fingers itching as he held it. So unfair! He felt like Pandora...if only he could sneak a peek...

His stomach's rumbling distracted his thoughts, and he went to the mess hall. He gathered together an inhuman amount of food: pancakes, cereal, waffles, toast, fruits of all sorts, bagels, and enough butter to coat the entire camp. He sat down and began eating ravenously. Food had never tasted so good! The box that he had been so curious about was, for now, forgotten.
