Susan Baker

"What's the matter? Never seen a pregnant ex-meister before?"

0 · 398 views · located in DWMA

a character in “Welcome to Death Weapon Meister Academy!”, as played by Robinwing

Description

Susan Baker

Role: Professor. Used to be a meister but… I’m not anymore.

Gender: Female

Appearance: Image
Susan generally also wears a sling on her left arm.

Age: 30

Personality: Mess with any of Susan’s students and she might rip your throat out. With her teeth. There’s still a bit of meister in her, that’s for sure. It takes quite a lot to call out that rage, but people who have seen it fear Susan from that moment on. Susan is quite a believer in kids learning the hard way, as she thinks that will stick more than just her saying it. She just makes sure that the truly dangerous lessons are in their heads before they start on the temporarily painful learning. She does like to teach meisters and weapons, and see the penny drop, as it were, but she also likes to make sure that what they learn is actually applicable. Susan cannot move her left arm due to a battle years ago, and sometimes forgets that she can’t do anything with that arm, like reaching for things. Makes her feel a bit useless every now and then. She’s extremely happy to be pregnant, and enjoys how people stare when they first see it. She’s happily married to a bloke called Russell, and is British.

Likes:
Being pregnant
Her students
Russell
Teaching
When a lesson is well and truly learned
Her future baby
When people are not sure whether to fear her or give her their chair
Tea

Dislikes:
When she forgets about her arm
People who mess with her students
Morning sickness
Coffee
Kids trying to grow up too quickly
Cynicism

Quirks:
She sometimes tries to use her left arm, and has a scar on it where she was injured

Hobbies:
Baking (ironically)
Sparring

Goal:
To raise her own child, as well as teach the future generations of weapon and meister pairs

History:
Susan used to be a meister. Brought into the school herself when she was 12, from an orphanage, she was paired off with a rifle weapon, whom she came to see as a younger sister. They worked together in most of their lives, even helping each other find boyfriends, when they went after an evil human who turned out to be… Somewhat not human. The witch made mincemeat out of them, and scarpered, leaving behind a smashed rifle, and a woman with a massive chunk missing from her arm. Susan almost spiralled into depression, but that was about the time she met Russell. Russell who thought she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever met despite the sling on her arm. Russell who fell hard for her the day they met, if he was honest with himself. Three years of wooing Susan, and they decided to get married. Three years of being married, and Susan fell pregnant, just as planned. They’re very happy, and look forward to meeting their baby in 2 months time.

Aki looked around the yard of the school, sneakily adjusting the "weapon" tag she'd attached to her obi. She stood with her back pin straight, hands folded demurely in front of her. She knew that, in this school, a full kimono wouldn't be practical, so she was wearing her kimono top, park puffed up shorts, stockings and black ankle boots. It all felt extremely strange when one was used to kimonos. She remained extremely still, only moving her head to look around and her back very slightly if she was looking around something. Nothing of interest had really happened since she'd come, rather early. She was still in the process of convincing herself that she wasn't nervous about, not at all, not a chance, no way. It wasn't entirely working.

"Honestly, meeting meisters. Like a meister is going to want to work with a huge war axe, half of these people don't look like they could lift me, let alone swing me around in anything approaching effectiveness." She muttered to herself. She would be cursing in Japanese as well, but that wasn't ladylike at all. She unfolded her hands and adjusted her sleeves slightly, and refolding them. She stood with her back to the wall, off to the side. She distinctly remembered that someone had told her that there would be a speech from Shinigami-sama himself, and she didn't want to be at the back when that happened. That was why she'd come early, clearly. Of course.

---

Susan sat behind her desk, in her classroom. Soon enough, there'd be students in here waiting to learn the secrets of being a meister. If they wanted to learn about being a weapon, she supposed they'd go to someone else. She also supposed the kids would quite possibly come to her for advice about other, personal things, like friendships and love. She thought briefly about the fact that a few years from now, she, or someone else, would likely be having similar conversations with her own baby. She lowered one hand from the desk, removing her head's weight, leaning back in her chair, and gently rubbed circles into her bulging stomach.

Aki blinked when she heard the voice of the man in charge of the school, Death himself, start his speech. She spun on her heel, trying to look readily attentive as the speech was given. It wouldn't do to ignore him. She remained under the tree though, so if whoever was up it needed help getting down, she was quite ready to help them down. Aki stood with her back pin straight, and couldn't help worrying a bit. She'd seen a few others coalescing into groups, other weapons had quite possibly already found meisters, and here she was not having spoken with anyone. She glanced around the crowd, and noted that she'd been right, she doubted anyone would be able to wield a great big war axe with anything approaching efficiency. She adjusted her sleeves and obi nervously.

---

Susan shifted a bit, as she distantly heard the speech that Death was giving to the new students, though it was fairly quiet and distant. She recalled that Death was going to be going around the professors to tell them who they were going to be teaching. She noted hearing from someone that Death had a strange obsession with symmetry, and looked around. She noted that, with her sling she herself wasn't symmetrical. She paused for a moment, shrugged, and moved a cup of pens on her desk to her right.
"Might as well." She murmured to herself, as her good arm returned to rubbing circles into her stomach.

Oboro and Lida skipped into their classroom. It looked like they were the first two there. Ms.Baker sat behind her desk rubbing circles on her tummy.
"Look Lida," she said trying not to be rude as she pointed to thier teacher, "Baby!" She raised her fists to her face and squintes eyes and let out a little squeel. "I love babies."
Oboro skips over to the desk and says, "Hello, may I rub your tummy?" It was a very forward question but thats how Oboro was when it came to babies. They were on her list of The Cutest Things in the World. She looked up at Susan and smiled. She was already enjoying her class assignment.

Inside her axe form, Aki blinked briefly as she was swung to be held in two hands, and Konstantyn stumbled slightly... Then, of all things, hugged in her axe form. Internally, she had a look of incredulity, no one had ever hugged her weapon form. In fact, most of her family couldn't lift her weapon form. That was when she tuned into Konstantyn's babble about the carvings she bore, and decided now was as good a time as any to try to communicate with her new meister, but it appeared not to work. Oh well. She turned back into her human form when prompted, kept her back straight and her expression impassive, but inwardly she felt surprisingly pleased by the exclamations Konstantyn had made. She briefly cleared her throat.
"Firstly, yes, it's an obi. Secondly... This should be a wonderful partnership." Aki replied, smiling.

The Next Day...

Aki walked with a frenetic speed, practically marching into the courtyard. She had a meister now, and thus she would have to learn to work with him. She could easily tell from her brief glance when they'd resonated that working together wouldn't be a problem, but she couldn't help worrying about whether it would turn out that her own failings may get in the way. She wasn't entirely sure what failings would do that, but the fact she didn't could well be one of them, for all she knew.

---

Susan decided she was bored. She'd been sitting for what felt like hours that morning, balancing a pencil between her nose and pouting lips. She put the utensil away, before planting her good hand on her desk and hoisting herself onto her feet. Once she was up, she rested it on her swollen stomach, as she set off for a brisk walk around the school. Coming around the side, she spotted the knots of new students, evidently many had already paired themselves up. She smiled over at them, looking forward to teaching them. Or letting them teach themselves. Whichever came first.

Oboro took her seat in the classroom and waited patiently for the other students to arrive, Ms. Susan must have been daydreaming because hs ehadn;t heard a word she had said. Oh well... she thought, she must have a lot on her mind...
