Synopsis
The University is a private institution that harbors both human and non-human students within its campus. This is a place where impossible sciences and magics are both studied and practiced. The outside world save for a small town called Quarry (who hates the college and its students because any misfortune or disappearances brought to their town) know anything about what happens at the university. The town sheriff had the dean agree to implement a curfew to keep the students in and put the townsfolk at ease. This still doesn't stop magic users from picking fights with science students. Students who have fallen victim to a mad scientist's evil plans or were cursed/hexed or all around affected by the supernatural can also take regular classes within a relatively safe environment where as they would otherwise be left without an education since normal colleges of society would not be considered practical. Thus offering them the chance to a normal life even if the environment in which they will be studying in will be rather far from standard. (For any questions don't be afraid to ask.)
Story
Welcome to Fortwick University. A college dedicated to pseudo sciences. Many people don't know why its so prestigious considering the curriculum that it taught. Such a subject matter is neither taken seriously by the public at large nor would it seem to contain much promise for a high paying career. Yet there's always a thriving number of students attending. Anyone living in the neighboring city which is settled on the plains beyond the bottom of the ridge simply sees the university as an odd sight, and nothing more.
The only visible part of the university is that it really stands out is the fact that the campus is set on top of a mountain ridge. Behind it a sprawling forest, much of it being part of the campus. Seeing as it's marked as private property no one attending or working at the university is allowed within or around the campus/forest grounds. The original structure itself is said to be of an old castle or fort that was converted into a private school. The buildings on the campus range from old stone masonry work to modern buildings you would expect to see for a school making it clear that the college has expanded from the original framework over time; much of the original stonework is being used as its base.
Half way up the lone road to the campus is a small quarry town simply named Quarry. It was built before the city was founded but long after Fortwick was converted into an institution. The residents there seem to be the only people to have a idea of what's really going on within the campus grounds. They appear to disdain any conversation pertaining to Fortwick and are highly predudiced against helping anyone who drives through the town to get the the university. Unfortunately, anyone who wants to reach the school is forced to go through said Quarry town since the main road goes right through the center of town. And not everyone can fill up at the gas station in the city depending on which direction you are coming from.
Even the Quarry folk can only guess what the university is about because of how well the dean of Fortwick keeps what it harbors secret. Its a university that teaches both science and magic. There are teachers who cover the subjects of re-animation, nano-tech, genetics as well as ones who specialize in potions, incantations and hexes. Fortwick is so well protected both inside and out that no outside forces can interrupt such well guarded secrets from the outside world. However the institution is not without conflict. Students of science are always arguing with students of magic. A budding scientist who re-animates bodies is more than likely to find a nemesis in a necromancer in training; either with arguing which procedure is better or fighting over the limited *ahem* resources available to them.
Most of the student body appears to be human. Then again there is a rule that states for all humanoid beings who can pass off as human must do so unless it is stated otherwise. The point of the university is not just for non-normal students to learn how to blend into human society but for normal students not accustomed seeing otherworldly beings actually exist to better adjust to such fantasy being fact. Why don't all students already know what they are getting into when they begin attending you ask? Well, how would your parents (already privy to such knowledge) introduce you to things that have long been considered fiction? Sometimes its better to explain with the simple phrase 'seeing is believing'.
How did this all get started? The families who have encountered or were affected by sciences thought to be impossible or magic that shouldn't exist were the first to be invited to better understand what they did not know. Because people fear what they do not know and they try to destroy what they fear. The dean believes that all should be allowed to attend but the world is not quite ready. Instead he strives to educate younger generations in hopes that some day the divide between fantasy and science will blur and as a result, accepted.

Height: (Obvious)
Weight: (Obvious)
Curse/ailment: (Recently bitten? Cursed by a witch? Possessed? If you said yes to any of these you are required to take classes related to the curse or ailment. You can't take any other classes until you've attended Lycanthropic studies 101, Beginning and intermediate curses or Demonology. There are also support groups and counseling available to both recent and/or ongoing curses/ailments.
Special Needs: (Not just for humans and non-humans with mental handicaps but ones with extra physical requirements. The more severe cases are assigned medical bracelets similar to "allergy to penicillin" or "diabetic" patients. Usually these are also given to cursed students as well. ie someone who is normally fit ends up becoming overweight within seconds if they act vain. It can also be for students who are harboring a demonic entity within themselves but can't be exercised to cure their ailment. Anything that would cause their bodies to drastically physically change or risk harm to either themselves or others are required to wear them. Werewolves will most likely need to wear them depending on the type of lycanthropy they are suffering from. Needing blood does not count as a special need but requiring weekly spinal fluid supplements do. If you still have questions with this don't be afraid to message me.)
Major: (Doesn't have to be related to the career they will be pursuing. Only one Major necessary. At most the more bookworm type students can have two majors and two minors. Career: (What they will end up becoming or at least trying to achieve. Can be different from what major they have though it would make sense to major in something like marine studies if you want to be a marine biologist. Or cryptobotany if you want to study "exotic" plants. Think Audry 2 from little shop of horrors type plants)
New or Returning student: (Have they been here before? For how long? Do they practically live here or does stepping through the classroom doors put them through culture shock)
Appearance: (What do they look like? If they are humanoid/non-human what do they wear to keep themselves concealed?)

History: (What brought them here? How did they get word of Fortwick? Were they invited, did they already know about it through parents, other means, or did they get admitted?)
Possible Classes/Careers
For those who aren't sure what they want to be, you can be a:
~Hunter: They are normally thought to hunt down the supernatural but here they are trained to be security and only to maintain order. Not eradicate half of the student body. Taking down a humanoid/non-human without a strong cause as to why will make them liable to expulsion.
~Mad Scientist: Either through genetics, robotics, living/dead tissue or all of the above. They use science to build and manipulate whatever they can get their hands on. ie, a student took much interest in trying to replicate what Dr. Moreau tried to do by manipulating organisms through vivisection, but also injections. These students are only allowed to practice on animals or cadavers. Testing on live subjects is against school policy and they will likely be failed and forced to retake the course or suspended.
~Necromancer: Bringing back the dead isn't against the rules. Using the dead to perform tricks or attack other students however...
~Cryptozoologist: Since everything that you were told as a child is actually real. This job became much more valid.
~Witch/Mage: Sure you won't be able to cast spells in the middle of a busy street but there are places away from the normal world that finds a great need for them.
~Herbologist/botanist: They don't just deal with flowers. Sometimes they are needed to keep plants from eating people. They know what to do when a creeping vine just ate Fido and are slithering their tendrils towards you for their main course.
~Historian: Vampires usually end up in this field due to their vast "first hand" knowledge of past events. Don't take my word for it ask Nosferatu. He's the history teacher.
~Exotic animal trainer: Not everyone can get a chimera to roll over or a dragon to play dead, but anyone with a big enough pair will go this route. The people who choose this career tend not to make it to retirement.

The only people with clean outfits are the rangers and officers that can be seen parked unnervingly close together. Then again this was a small town we are talking about here. But why so many in such a small town? That's what usually goes through anyone's mind when they first drive through. Of course its still early in the day after all.
Some of the town's workers are settling down for lunch in the diner since its a short driving distance from the quarry itself and prefer to have a hot meal rather than a packed lunch. Some of the small business are even closed due to the owners/managers stepping out to to joint the workers for a hot plate. One in particular, Eric, who runs the gas station is nearly hunched over a plate with a half eaten sandwich. His elbows are resting on either side of the plate with his hands cradling his head, shivering. One of the waitresses walks up to the wiry man's table to check in and see if he's doing alright.
"Hey hun you've barely touched your plate, you doing alright?" She asks. Eric jumps, startled out of his trance. He leans back and does his best to put on a smile for her.
"Its just been rough running the business and taking care of Pops." He can't seem to sit still in his seat as if something was bothering him and this was the best he could do to keep from falling apart.
One of the town's deputies sits down in the opposing seat of the booth and greets Eric like an old buddy. "How you holding up? I heard about what happened. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to stop by but they've been having me pull extra hours to keep an eye on the college kids coming in. Is your dad feeling any better?"
Eric rubbed his face and leaned back in his booth seat. "Running the station isn't difficult, its being there without anyone keeping an eye on dad...he hasn't been able to leave the bed but he's doing better." He turns his gaze away from the deputy, forlorn. The deputy looks to the waitress and they exchange a glance. She mouths the words, 'I'll get him some pie', before she steps away.
The deputy returns his gaze to Eric with a look of concern. He notices through the window that Eric was looking out of was unfamiliar cars beginning to drive through the town. "Speak of the devil." He gets up and pats Eric on the shoulder. "Marcy's getting a slice of pie for you. Take it easy now alright?" Eric continued to stare out the window. He wasn't watching the cars driving through. He was staring at the sky.
Callie looked around. The town didn't look quite so different from her hometown. Small, filled with hard working people who probably knew each other well and looked out for one another. The people in her hometown didn't necessarily know or look after her family, but it was the case for most of them. Her family was just so different. And, she'd come to accept that. She also noticed the town looked a little sad. Maybe that was a reflection of her own feelings, but things seemed a bit rundown. She always assumed that towns near universities thrived from visitors and the students themselves.
With a shrug, she headed for the diner. Ducking in the door, she straightened her blue and green patchwork broomstick skirt and tugged lightly at her light green top. Her clothes were always a bit different from other people's, but she felt like she was a crayon box walking into a black and white movie, so bright her clothes were compared to the diner's patrons. With another subconscious shrug, she watched a waitress leave a booth with, what seemed, sadness in her step. She looked her over, wiped her eyes for a moment and looked again. There seemed to be a gray cloud over the booth, covering a man who was hunched over. Must be all the driving ... tired eyes, she thought to herself.
Pulling her attention away from the booth, Callie patiently waited for someone to notice her.

She walked on to see what she could see about the town that seemed to be to quiet. She liked that about it. She was about to walk past the diner entirely when she noticed the girl standing not far from the door. She looked around again before heading for the diner. She could not shake the forbidding feeling, but she needed to stretch her hidden form. She checked that her sweat shirt was covering everything, her pants didn't look to funny, and her aqua hat was covering her ears just right. She opened the door slowly and nudged the girl in the back gently.
"Excuse me, but do you think I can get by?" she said softly shifting from one foot to the other in an uneasy manner.

Those students are already working on their next projects on the campus. A couple even managed to make it to a level where they are allowed independent study. An occurrence that doesn't happen very often.

Many of the workers had stopped eating whatever they still had on their plates to look at the new arrivals. Judging by their clothes and, one of them looked to be covering herself more than the average 'outsider' normally would. The waitress would give them menus and ask if they wanted anything to drink. Though she appears to be antsy having to talk to them. "Have you decided what you want or are you still looking?" She didn't even wait for them to open their menus when she asks.

"Do you serve chocolate milk?" she asked and pondered the menu a minute. "On second thought, I'll have the special of the day and a water please. . ." she said quickly just trying to be rid of the woman. She wanted to talk to the girl. . . She wondered if she felt as unwelcome as she did. . .
"Excuse me, but do you think I can get by?" she said softly shifting from one foot to the other in an uneasy manner.
"Of course," she replied, somewhat tersely, and stepped to the side. Her eyes kept pulling her back to the normal people in the diner. There was just something about the people, the place itself that made her feel on edge. At first it was something very subtle and then she noticed two men having a minor confrontation. Vaguely, she heard something that led her to believe that she was the center of that scuffle and, turning to look at the girl who'd nudged her, maybe this girl too.
Taking a deep breath, Callie smiled slightly at the waitress as she took the menu and sat down at the booth. Just as she started to answer, her tablemate stood and walked away. "Coffee, please," she responded distractedly. "The special would be fine, thanks."
This is nuts, she thought to herself, the people are weird, looking at me like I smell funny. She grabbed a strand of her hair and sniffed, then lifted the collar of her shirt and sniffed again. Not anything that should earn me such looks! The other girl returned and ordered herself. She watched her and thought she must be awfully warm in all the clothes she wore.
Raising an eyebrow she narrowed her eyes slightly, "Not quite sure why she sat us together, but I'm guessing you are passing through as well? It's an ... interesting spot, huh?"
"Yeah. . . interesting. . . I don't think students are really welcome here. . . If you notice the way they are all looking at us. . . This is my first visit here. . .probably my last too. . ." she said now letting her eyes sweep the room "I'm Shadonna," she rubbed her arms as if cold. "So, a student at the university too huh? Have you seen it. . . The university that is. . . I'm was on my way there when I needed to. . . well you saw. . ." she got uncomfortably quiet. "sorry. .. and you are?" she asked stretching her leather gloved hand out in greeting.
The waitress arrived with their drinks and food putting them down without a word. She was gone before any questions could be asked. Shadonna looked around the room again slowly taking a profile of everyone in the room including the boy the ranger had sat with.
"Not going to take me long to be rid of this place. . . I don't like it here. . ." she said eating the skimpy portions of Chicken Noodle Soup and Grilled Cheese. She sniffed the water and wrinkled her nose. "Don't drink the coffee. . ."
And, what was the moment of awkward silence? Was she embarrassed because she had to use the bathroom? Seemed like a fairly normal need after a trip, actually maybe she didn't have a long trip.
"Did you have a long drive here? I was ready for a break, but now I'm ready to be finished with driving and get settled," she furrowed her brow when Shadonna mentioned her coffee, "what's wrong with it?" Callie poked around at her food a little more, finding that her appetite had disappeared. As she dissected her sandwich, she imagined leaving the diner, walking to her car, getting in and making a tight u-turn. Calliope realized the scene had a smile finding it's way to her mouth. It quickly fled when she admitted that she didn't have that option. She couldn't deny the memory of her parents' and their final wish for her.
"Do you know what classes you're going to take?"

She paid the ticket and left the diner quickly. I don't like this place she thought as she started the long walk up the road to the university. The time she spent hiding her secret helped her get stronger, so this walk was going to be a breeze. She let her mind wonder as she walked ignoring the world. . . I wonder how Xi is doing. . . I miss him so much. . .

The sound of a loud engine slowly drowns out the George Jones playing from the truck. A beat up old Volkswagen beetle convertible rolls up aside the truck. The color is either a faded orange mess, or old primer. The vehicle it's self is visibility shaking. The noise from the Bug's engine caused the old man to turn up his radio in order to combat the old German car engine. The younger passenger looks down at the ugly small car. The driver is a dark brown haired white male, in his early 20s. He is wearing a thick black rim glasses, an old second hand yellow Ralph Lauren polo shirt with the alligator poorly stitched with red tread. His jeans are washed out and fashionable by mistake. The driver has one hand on the steering wheel, and the other on a small white cooler chest. He looks up at the truck and young man riding in it. The two young men exchanges glances. While the passenger in the truck looked away, the VW driver kept staring with his green eyes, the sunlight shining off the glossy red paint made him squint, as he observing the truck and his occupants. The light finally flashes green, The truck is first to leave due the VW's old gearshift. There is a loud bang from the exhaust before the car speeds down the road.
The noisy beetle cruises past an array old homes ranging from well kept to rundown. The street pavement hasn't seen maintenance for some time, causing the car to rattle more. The unhappy driver puts more attention on keeping the foam cooler from spilling out. The bumpy ride last until the beetle reaches down town. At the stop sign the driver check his fuel gauge, mostly out of habit. The fuel gauge stop working last fall, the needle has been stuck on a quarter empty. He lets out a dishearten sigh. The car drives down main street to the nearest gas station. The few open businesses are surrounded by abandon buildings, and growing vegetation. All serving as a depressing reminder of the town's dying economy. The majority of the townsfolk are elderly. The rest are middle age adults that couldn't escape the slowly dying town. As the ugly VW bug pulls up to another stop sign, the drive notice another group of on lookers. Staring at him from the window of a small diner. A haggard elderly couple and their equally tired waitress are staring at him with a slight disgust. The driver just ignores the ancient couple as he tentatively waits for the old once golden stop light to turn from a faded red to an equally as faded green.
The beetle drove down the road for only a few more blocks, until he reaches the gas station. It was a small little auto garage connected to a dinky little food mart. The car pulled up to one of the few antique gas terminals that didn't appear to be broken. There was a large old sign hang above the pumps. Stating that this place was full service, an old and outdated business practice. The driver waited patiently in his car for someone to help him. A few minutes pass before a wheezing car horn blew out of the orange bug. Still no answer, frustrated the driver got of his car and walk up to the mini-mart door. The was a piece of white paper with some chicken scratch writing on it taped to the door. The message was difficult to decipher but it stated "Out for a bit back soon." The driver stood in front of the closed door, then look back at the old town and said, "God I hate this place."
Her attention was pulled by Shadonna's quick departure. She got up to pay her own bill and headed out of the diner. Callie watched Shadonna walking up toward the University for a moment before turning toward her car. After unlocking the car, she slid in and started it. Breathing deeply, she eased out of the parking space and slowly pulled up next to Shadonna. She pushed the button to roll down the passenger side, "do you want a ride up there?"

She continued walking towards the school looking back from time to time as people started driving by a little more frequently. Some offered her rides, which she politely turned down, and others just zipped right passed her. She slipped into the shadows of the trees to keep from being hit by someone being careless. Explaining the dent in their cars would be hard when she didn't have a scratch.

With a shrug, Calliope rolled the window up and pulled away from where Shadonna was walking. I wonder if the school will be as lonely as this road, she thought. It wound up the mountain ridge, obvious that there was only destination for this road. She watched as the forest became thicker and the imposing school came in and out of view. Their was something about it that seemed to pull her toward it. The facade seemed stark and imposing, yet there was something almost familiar about it.
She pulled into the parking lot and turned the engine off. Sitting for a moment, she wondered what was in store for her at this school. She was surprised they had a program she was interested in. Holistic therapy wasn't the most common or accepted form of medicine, but she was happy that it was offered here. She really hadn't received much information, so she wasn't sure what to expect, but ... as her mom had always said, 'each day is a new adventure, you just have to take the first step'. So, here goes, she thought to herself and stepped out of her car.
Standing just inside the door, she saw Shadonna walk in.
"Hi there" she said kinda quietly.
"Hi Shadonna, just waiting. How was your walk?"
She smiled at Calli "It was pleasant enough. The wind let me clear my thoughts a bit." she said pulling her hat over her ears a little bit more snugly. "Any idea what to expect?" she asked looking around at the other students both normal and not so normal standing alike. She could tell the normal ones. . . perfect outfits without a care in the world. . . the others. . . like her. . . she could sense a bit of anxiety, wonder, and excitement in them. . . She continued looking around the campus slowly with her muscles getting achy again. . . She needed to stretch or she was going to cramp up worse than the car ride up here.
Both Calli's and Shadonna's conversation were cut short when they heard a motorized chair whirr towards their direction. A frail looking elderly gentleman in a rather dapper looking outfit. He appeared to still be learning how to use the wheel chair's controller as it was veering every few seconds after he would straighten out its orientation towards a more linear path. Nearly tripping students who attempted to walk past him. He would continuously apologize for his 'clumsiness' and then proceed to do the exact same thing a few seconds later. Its when he finally reaches the group of antsy students that he seems to have a slight better handle on stopping as opposed to barreling straight through them. Up close he looked as though a good sneeze would be more than enough to do the poor man's heart in. Be it from a student or himself didn't seem to matter providing that either gave him a good enough jostle.
Despite everything he still makes an effort to stand up; using his cane to support himself "I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience. The new signs were supposed to go up today but there seems to have been a miscommunication. For those who still need to attend the orientation or at least stretch more than their arms and legs-" He gives them a wink to let the students who needed to hide more than a couple anomalies attention. "-I would like you to head towards the older sections of the campus which is over this way. Don't worry about getting lost, just follow the stones and you will be able to find where you need to be." It was at that moments that more than a few students would recognize that the old coot was Mr. Fortwick himself. He lived up to his name by going around and checking on the students himself. It didn't seem to matter how much work he had piled up at his office, he would be sure to step out, or wheel out in this case to greet the new students as well as check on the returning ones. He was also open to answering just about any and every question that any of them asked though sometimes his words would leave them with more questions than answers.
Whether Calli and Shadonna would stay behind for a bit or take Mr. Fortwick's advice to head towards the older area, they would inevitably have to go for the orientation. The further they walked the older the bricks became and eventually they would find themselves completely indoors with old masonry surrounding them. Occasionally a lumbering S.L.O.B would be standing motionless in its place, only to lift an arm when someone approached them; pointing in the direction where they were supposed to go. This, of course, made it difficult for some students to travel passed the suited giants out of fear even though they would do nothing but wheeze and made occasional churning noises. Its not until they reach an area that looks like a courtyard that's been built over. All of the lights were artificial in a sense of the term. There were no openings to the outside making it safe from prying eyes but there were no signs of electricity flowing to the orbs that hung from the ceiling and walls. The areas where plants were supposed to be were somewhat different from the normal terrestrial plants. They lacked the familiar green color that their above ground cousin's sported to help absorb light. Instead these were more a pale blue, red, purple or simply lacked color altogether. Then again it would be hard to pay attention to such details when the first thing all new students would notice was that many who wore more clothes than necessary previously, were now disrobing to relieve themselves of overly heavy, hot or cramped disguises to pass themselves off as normal.

For the most part he ignored the student and worked off of muscle memory. He persistently perspired making his palms sweaty. Everything he touched left a thick layer of moisture. Car included.

Currently he was studying about a man named Nickolas Flamel, a man who, a few hundred years ago, was said to have created some sort of potion that gave him eternal life. Stories varied drastically depending on who you heard them from, but from what he could understand, Nickolas and his wife drank the potion and could potentially still be walking around today.
"That does raise a good question," Issac says suddenly, aloud but thinking to himself. Closing the book and tucking it under his arm he looks down at Absente. "If that demon wants my soul, but I can't die, then how could he take it? I mean, it stands to reason you die when you lose your soul...but if you can't die..." Thinking about it more he raises his head and look off into the sky. It looked calm enough up there, but for some reason he felt the winds of change were on the way. These thoughts are taken from his head, though, when the scar on his nose darkens suddenly and he begins to feel feverish. "Damnedable demons... Absente, let's head back to the dorms. I think I'm on to something, but I need to lie down with a cool rag for a bit."
The lizard-dog makes his usual odd bark-hiss of agreement, and with his master turns around.
Absente was actually a huge surprise for Issac, at least the fact that he survived. A short time after entering the academy Issac had been wandering the woods and had come across a German Sheppard that had been hurt. It looked like he had been attacked by something big, a bear or a wild boar or something worse. Thinking that alchemy might be able to heal the dogs wounds, Issac kneels down beside the poor thing and drew a few circles and symbols on the ground beside it. After pouring out the right amount of a few specific materials, he placed his hands on the circle and activated it. Surprisingly, it worked. Even more surprisingly, the little lizard that had been crawling about beside the wounded dog had gotten trapped in the transmutation as well. And so, Absente was now slightly smaller than your average Shepard, and rather than fur he was covered in green scales, with a long lizard tail and bright yellow lizard eyes. And the quick, forked tongue. Issac had named the chimera after the somewhat banned alcohol which he had just finished reading about.
Finally sticking the key back in his pants pocket, he grabs his book bag and exits the dinged Buick and heads for the University. He shoved his hand into his other back pocket searching for his wallet just in case he needed his I.D. He feels the folded leather inside his pocket, pulling out to see it in the palm of his hand, observing the warn out grey leather before closing his fingers around it. He pulled his pack all the way on just before adjusting his black billowy scarf. He put his wallet in his coat pocket just so it was easier to reach, putting both his hands in his coat pockets to warm them up.
He circled the campus before finding the front doorway labeled "Fortwick University". He entered through the large victorian style doorways. He felt in his pocket for his communicator that was no way to be found. If he could curse, he would just now, leaving his wallet in his pocket, he pulled his backpack of and set it down on the floor and knelt behind it, just inside the foyer/lobby of the large building. He dig through it, looking for the little rectangular device. Nothing. He checked the side pockets and smiled with relief as he spotted it in the left pocket. He zipped the backpack, standing then effortlessly throwing it back over his shoulder. Salem turned out the communicator and setting it in yet another pocket where it could be reached with ease.

A voice comes out from behind Issac. The thick New Orleans accent can be heard projecting from Nabuscu's hefty chest. "What on earth are ya' doin' boy? What if a visitor sees yer hissin' mutt? It's still orientation day if ya don't remember." The woman approaches him till she's almost eye to eye with him. Not that she was as tall as him but that she was perched on top of her giant pet crab. She was quite the substitute teacher. More often than not she would assign herself any odd job around camp. It was more fitting to guess that she didn't have much better to do with her time. Her arms are folded with a scowl on her face. With the way she was posturing and with her expression she looked like she had her anger aimed more towards preschoolers rather than college students. Wesley is not far from where Nabuscu is located so he can clearly hear every word that she speaks.
"Miss Naba I can't help but notice the irony that you are placing on display in front of the students." A softer, raspy voice calls out from none other than the dean Mr. Fortwick. He stands with his wait resting mostly on his cane which is placed in front of himself. "The last day this place was open to visitors was yesterday. Be glad that I don't write you up for misinforming students as well as negligence to the rules." He didn't have a mean bone in his body. His words sounded professional as if he rehearsed them in front of a mirror. Clean cut words to go with his mostly clean cut look. He looks to Issac and then his pet. He's unafraid to stroll up and pat the chimera gently on the head. "Though I would appreciate it that you give him a collar. Something bright, so that any greenhorn hunters don't mistake him for a wild beast. The last thing we need is-"
The dean is cut short with a loud droning bellow echo through the campus. A S.L.O.B. recklessly tromps haphazardly past students who barely have enough time to dodge away from its path. Its large gloved hands cover its helmet defensively and shaking its upper body while making what best can be described as fearful droning. Something is on top of the S.L.O.B.s back. Its head is large and nearly blends with the neck and back making it difficult for it to turn its head. Its claws dig at the back of the S.L.O.B. where tubing connects causing neon green fluid to ooze out. The S.L.O.B. doesn't see that its headed right for Wes.
Wesley saw the fluid leak from it, and the odd creature that dug into its back. For some reason Wesley could not will himself to move, he just watched in awe. It was not like he could make any exclamations or scream, so he just stood there like a dear in the head lights. The thing hit him before he could do anything about it, but he wasn't scared as much as dizzy.
The creature had passed right through him, leaving him spinning for a moment, then falling on his bum. Finally the large hallway stopped spinning and he could see straight again, moving a bit of his hair from his face. He still couldn't stand, but he just sort of sat there, hoping the S.L.O.B wouldn't come back around and trample him unprepared.
The setting changes from Fortwick University Campus to Modern Sci-fi Fantasy
The truth was that Issac had placed a bright orange collar on his pet earlier that morning, but apparently it was gone now. Absente had the bad habit of rubbing his neck against corners to scratch at the itch caused by the collar, and between the corner and his scales he wore through them rather quickly.
Before he can respond to either teacher, a S.L.O.B. comes barreling through, headed straight for one of the new students. Issac didn't have the time to warn the boy, but it seems he wouldn't have to, as the droning being passes right through him. Pausing for a moment to try and figure out what just happened, Issac shakes his head then hurries over to help the student up, never taking his eyes of the S.L.O.B. in case it were to turn around. More than that, he was trying to figure out what that was on his back, clawing at the tubes.
"You alright?" Issac asks, reaching a hand out to help Wesley up. Absente was nearby, softly growling at the S.L.O.B. "Let me guess, cursed?"
While he didn't know all that much about specters, Issac could spot a curse a mile away. Wesley had seemed solid enough just before the S.L.O.B. had been about to hit him, then it was as if he suddenly became as solid as a shaft of sunlight. It was interesting, yes, but now was not really the time. They needed to get back out into the open courtyard and away from the creature in case it decided to come back for a second pass.
The setting changes from Modern Sci-fi Fantasy to The town of Quarry
Don bent over and picked up his pack, he slipped on his new human clothing, a pair of jeans and a worn shirt with a set of boots. His muscles bulged out of the shirt, at least that part of him was still of accurate size. He decided he didn't like wearing the human form. He threw the pack over his broad back effortlessly and continued on up the road and into the town.
He didn't waste his time there, he knew the people there would want nothing to do with him so he didn't impose his presence for too long. He wanted to remove the amulet and run the rest of the way, it would have been far faster and less tense but he had a feeling these people would not stand for him in his natural form. He endured the suspicious stares and whispered comments all through the main street. Why on earth are humans this way, he wondered. He would need to ask a professor this precise question. Then it dawned on him, that moment when Don had wandered onto the road and struck out at that car. Could they be afraid?
The moment Don exited the town's limits he wandered into the forest a few paces, removed the clothing and the amulet returning to his natural form. It was like releasing himself from a tightly jarred bottle. He tucked the clothes and amulet away and trotted briskly up the winding path.

The place where magic happens!...and forbidden science is theorized. This is where both human students and not so human students take classes, roam the halls and cause mischief.

This town is nestled half way up the mountain ridge with the shadow of Forwick looming over it. Its a small but hard working quarry town and the folks here are not too kind to the college students.

Non-canon fodder. Want to RP something that you don't want to be officially apart of the regular roleplay? Have ideas that you want to put up for others to read and possibly RP? This is the place to go.

This is where the non-standard curriculum is taught. All of which takes place in the older part of Fortwick. If you are sewing together a patchwork golem or mixing potions you will likely be in the lower areas where much of the stonework can be seen.

These buildings look more like proper classrooms with lecture halls and the more standard lab rooms look completely normal.

Saltwash City Owner: Aramay
The only city within miles of Fortwick. This is where students live if they don't want to be on campus as it has a grocery store, gas station a movie theater, all the trappings of a "normal" city.

Fortwick forest Owner: Aramay
The forest behind and around Fortwick itself. Because there are guidelines and rules to follow here, new students are not allowed in or around the forest, especially at night.

Its an arcade that doesn't appear out of the ordinary on the outside. Only Fortwick students and/or humanoids/non-humans are allowed in. Its the only safe place in the city for supernatural types to commune openly with each other about their conditions.

Anyone who hasn't created a character or is passing through here and thinking of doing so its not too late to join! Anyone who HAS made a character please report to this thread to let me know that you are still around.
By the time I post this I will have the rest of the first post done. So hopefully if I can accomplish that, all will be allowed to begin posting.
Re: Welcome to Fortwick University
As for anyone/everyone who has already had their characters accepted. Please wait until I make the first post/posts before all characters jump in. For the "new" students, they can stop by Quarry town (such as the gas station or diner) on the way to Fortwick before they reach the school. Keep in mind that the locals will NOT be happy to see them there.
Otherwise both new and returning students can already be walking onto the Fortwick campus. That is unless a returning student WANTS to stop and inform the new students that it's a bad idea to stick around. Either way there will be plot goodies (possible plot lines to pick up) both at Quarry and on campus. The choice is yours. Due to being scheduled for overtime at work I may not post until Saturday which will give more people thinking about joining the forum time to create their characters.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Re: Welcome to Fortwick University
@ Setsugie I understand. I'm a little rusty myself but considering that I'm planning to publish I really have to practice more right now. So this is a good place to improve and look for critiques. As long as you at least read over everything once and you have questions its fine. Veteran players can still make simple mistakes too. I'll be sure to let you know if something is a miss. And be sure to let me know if something seems off.
Re: Welcome to Fortwick University
Though I haven't done this in a loooooong~ while I hope I don't become a bother and break the rules and such I apologize in advance if I do. Please take care of me *Bows*

Character skeleton guide is up and don't be afraid to point out discrepancies, contradictions or vague/missing details. There's a lot of blanks that I know I still need to fill in but I don't always remember where they are.
Questions? Comments? Answers?
Re: Welcome to Fortwick University
Actually, I'll just save what I have on my computer in case you want character sheets in a certain format!
Welcome to Fortwick University
I know I know. "Why is this not done yet?" and "How is this different from other school/fantasy/sci fi rps?" you ask. Its a work in progress. And you will have to read as more information unfolds to know the answer to the question. Its a story idea that I've been working on and writing for a while now. It will eventually be published but in the mean time, enough people asked that I turn this idea into an RP as well to help pass the time. If you are interested or have any questions don't be afraid to ask even though I'm still setting everything up. There is still much to be done and a lot to explain.
This isn't mainly about going to classes. Its about much much more...
