Welcome to Greyson Reformatory

In the world now, it's not so much a matter of what you did, but a matter of what you got caught doing. [dead]

Introduction

"ωєℓ¢σмє тσ тнє gяєуѕση яєƒσямαтσяу," the warden called over the crowd of newbies. 'Buncha petty thieves, hackers who got caught, runaways who were too obvious, gang leaders who got screwed over, killers who weren't legal adults just yet. Delinquents; bad kids. But was bad really something so bad in this day and age? Not really. Nuclear war back in 2812 had left the world in a pretty shattered state, even if most people liked to pretend that everything was all fine and dandy now in the year 3008. Sure, we got kids with damaged DNA and strange abilities. Sure, we push everyone who's different into the slums while we focus on the 'purebreds,' those lucky enough to have undamaged and unaltered DNA. And sure, our prisons and camps are full of those who were unlucky enough to get caught doing what everyone else does. But that's just life, isn't it? Well, maybe that wasn't life about a thousand years ago, but that's life now. You try to be as cut-throat as everyone else, but then the government decides to make an example of you. Once in a while, you even get so unlucky as to be that one Purebred that gets caught so the government can pretend that it doesn't only prosecute the lower class. If that one Purebred is you, then hell, you are one unlucky son of a bitch, aren't you?

"Now, you aren't bad kids," the warden continues to call, and by this point, you're just feeling fed up with his rant. Here he is, trying to play the 'friend' card, but all of you know that it's all a load of bullshit. He's not your friend, and you sure as hell are a bad kid. Possibly as bad as they come, who knows? But it isn't as if you can protest, so you keep your trap zipped and play the good kid for now. You can always cause trouble later, and in fact, you are positive that you will be causing trouble for someone at some point anyway. "You've just made some bad decisions, and now you're here so we can set you back on track."

You try to will the man to shut up. Maybe you have some kind of psychic powers? But no, it isn't working. Not on this guy anyway. If you do have some kind of psychic powers, the action just backfires. The powers of Mutants won't work on any of the authority figures in here, unless you count the lunch workers and janitors as authority figures, because it works on them. Still, the man trucks on with the closer of his speech.

"The rules here at the Greyson Reformatory are simple;

Do as your superiors say.
Be up and ready by 8:30 AM.
Don't be late for meals, otherwise you get nothing. Meals will be held at 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 7:00 PM, and last for one hour.
You are allowed only ONE electronic device, unless you have been barred access to electronics for whatever reason.
Boys and girls will not be allowed into each other's rooms before 9:30 AM and after 8:30 PM.
Each dormitory holds a standard PC for internet usage between 4:00 PM and 9:30 PM, unless you have been barred from access to the internet for whatever reason.
Everyone is to be in their Dorms by 9:30 PM and lights out will be at 10:00 PM.

Anyone failing to follow these rules will be at the mercy of I or any of the other workers here. As long as that is understood, I believe I can call your 'orientation' to a close."

Everyone turns to leave the courtyard, and you quickly follow suit, pushed around by the crowd as they shove about and make haste for the boys' and the girls' dormitories to find out what losers they're going to get stuck in a room with. This is going to be hell, isn't it? Well, no, not really. In some ways, it's better than being out there where you could get shot every time you go outside, or your apartment could blow up just because someone had a grudge against the guy in the room next to you. Hell, maybe you were being targeted yourself!

Either way, here you are. The judge who sent you here instead of jail asked you if you felt sorry that you did it, or felt sorry that you got caught. You said you were sorry you did it, but honestly, you're pretty sure that no one here felt sorry that they did what they did. You're really just sorry you got caught. You won't be so careless next time.

// . . . \ \

αѕ ωαѕ ѕтαтє∂, the year is 3008. The world is much like it was back in 2013, though technology is swifter and more advanced. This doesn't matter so much, seeing as the setting is Greyson Reformatory, which is something like a cross between boot camp, boarding school, and hell, where young adults and teenagers have been sent as an alternative to jail. The age range spans anywhere from thirteen to twenty one, and most people who are older have been crammed in jail.

After years of nuclear war which began in the year of 2812 and did not end until the year 2878, most of the world struggled to gain some kind of stability midst the chaos. Most of the populous was genetically damaged in their struggle to adapt to the harsh radioactivity, and as a result, descendants of their altered DNA come ridden with diseases or mutations which have given them explainable abilities. Most are forced to live in ghettos or slums and live as second-class citizens. Everyone whose DNA remains pure, however, the Purebreds, live in high end apartments and little utopias. They make a lot of money and step on anyone to get where they want. While some Purebreds are innocent, it is typical that they don't stay that way. Most Mutants have no physical mutations to be seen, unless they are from a line that was very heavily affected by the radiation, and if they are physically deformed, they typically don't show their faces in public very often. Yes, unless one looks towards the DNA level or observed one using their abilities, there isn't really any way to tell between a Purebred and a Mutant.

There will be two to three people per room in the Dormitories, and people will room with those of the same gender, though age will play no part in who is rooming with who. Delinquents at Greyson are allowed their own possessions; clothes, blankets, toys, whatever. But the amount is limited to what you can bring in one suitcase, and they are only allowed one electronic device, whether that be a game console, iPod, cell phone, or a personal lap top (since the internet usage on the PC in the dorm room is monitored). Those who need to smoke can do so outside, but the buildings are off limits for smoking. Depending on the crime committed by the Delinquent, there are extra restrictions which may prohibit use of something in particular. Extra restrictions may also be added on to a delinquent who has a known, particular ability.

// . . . \ \

ѕσ ωнαтѕ тнє ¢αт¢н? C-c-catch? What catch? There's no catch!! Okay, so maybe there is a catch. There really isn't so much of a random reason why all these powerful, skilled delinquents are being holed up in the same place. The real reason? Well, the governments are incredibly corrupt, and the Wardens here at Greyson are fully aware of this. The big plan overall is to use the most powerful and promising young adults to build an army that will be ready when this shaky world falls to war again. That might explain why some of the Delinquents have been here since they where young, and it hardly seems that anyone who 'graduates' from the reform is really noticed in society ever again. Its like everyone just goes underground. But with the countries constantly on the brink of war, will any of these little pricks be ready to help the cause when everything falls?

// Characters \ \

When placing reserves, do it based on 'Boy 1,' 'Girl 5,' etc, etc, as the character slots are really only different based on what dorm they will be in. Be sure to check out characters who are already in the dorms so that you can have some interesting interactions! A room full of only Purebreds or only mutants might be a little boring. Likewise, if you have someone who was arrested for gang violence, don't put them with someone else who also was arrested for gang violence. ALSO, as more people join, new dorms will be added. There isn't really a limit on characters, so, yeah.

Toggle Rules

1. Be reasonable with all the themes of the role play.
2. Please respect all other members, and don't exclude. If you notice someone is not interacting with any situations, find a way to bring them into the action.
3. When roleplaying sexual scenes, sensor the content before it gets to far and fade to black or something of that sort i guess.
4. Swearing will probably be well used, and although i'm completely the type to write the full word without discretion, just make sure you don't over-do it and stuff. If anyone is bothered by profane language, we can just come to consensus on staring out the word or something, okay?
5. No god-modding. Please, we are above making our characters dodge every single attack and bugging everyone about what they can and cannot do.
6. No mary-sues. These make for a two-dimensional character that can be quite predictable.
7. No power-playing without permission. Of course. If i find that someone is being terribly inactive, i will decide what will become of their character.
8. Be specific while filling out character skeletons. Everything is subject to my approval, since i want to be sure that that the role play will function well.
9. I understand, SO MUCH READING, but remember to at least keep track of other people's posts, and make sure you're keeping up on announcements and small details of the role play, otherwise, this could become confusing.
10. Please please please let me know if you are dropping out from the role play or will be gone during a certain amount of time. Even if you can't make accommodations for your character, at least this way, i can do so, in order for the role play to continue.
11. Be literate to the best of your ability. Don't go overboard, but don't get by on a minimum either. Try to keep pace with everyone else, but don't attempt to type a certain amount just to post a long bit of nonsense space-filler. I'm more interested in quality, not quantity, and im sure everyone else would feel the same.
12. If you have questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions for the roleplay, just let me know! I won't bite your head off, and your suggestion might be helpful~! As well, you might have a question that everyone else has too.
13. Have fun and be creative! We can have a good time, can't we? Idk, maybe sometimes.

Lilly Chrome:

Cunning. It wasn't a particularly pleasant word; never had Lilly used it to describe a 'friend', (of sorts), before, but somehow it fit the other girl to be both friendly and cunning as a fox. Though, honestly, Lilly knew that making such early assumptions was fundamental to a fatal backstabbing; Willow could wake up to be a completely different person the next day - friendly, cunning and schizophrenic to boot. Well, for now she was simply cunning and kind, two qualities ideal for an ally, not that she would need one just yet...right? She hoped that was true anyway.

At the question that Willow suddenly asked, Lilly found herself frozen to the bed, knuckles as white as snow and wrapped tightly around one another, desperately clinging to something intangible and horribly out of her reach. She thought of home and her mother and father and the burning, burning house; the two men on the floor; red, red, red on the grass - horror; a knife; shadows! Stop it! Now was most certainly not the time; her roommate was merely asking for her lineage, not her backstory - not why, why she had been hurled into this new, frightening, exciting world.

Only a few tines had Lilly been asked that question, (seeing as it was often assumed upon witnessing exactly where she had once lived), and it was a severe blow to the heart; nonetheless, her answer would slip as easily as...as bloodied daggers through virgin throats... No! Inwardly scolding herself, she forced her mind elsewhere, to the hard, cold slap that was the truth and facts of life, untouched by sentiment. What did she usually answer to that question? Simple.

"Mutant," Lilly said; a forced uneasy smile, a dirty lie on her mouth, "Do you - and you? I mean, I - if you want to tell me, that is... You don't have to...I..."

Unlike the stony sensation she felt at the constant recollection of previous sins, this little white lie didn't push her towards guilt; it had been for self-protection, for a perfectly decent reason, hadn't it?

Pureblood or mutant. The lie was told without difficulty. Because how could she choose one, when beneath it all she really belonged to the blood of both?

Image It wasn't very long down the hallway - no, it wasn't very long at all - before Aston's eyes rested upon a handsome boy with blonde locks, and an almost model-esque girl - probably the one who'd caused the earlier commotion. A grin almost instantly set into Aston's lovely face. He recognized neither of them, and that meant he'd come across his first set of newbies for harassment. The circumstances were almost perfect! And he didn't even have to check that stupid list for the new names.

It would have been a hassle anyway.

Quickly kicking it into gear, Aston scampered his way over to the two, just a few long strides ahead of him, before the could get down to the stairs and it would have been more difficult for conversation. As he skirted around them, instantly dashing right into their immediate path so that he would be sure they would pay attention to him, he noticed clearly the girl's eyes on him, and just barely caught the comment from the boy slipping into the remnants of what must have been a conversation between just the two of them; "Y'know, you're kinda cute when you're pissed."

Aston almost snorted at the comment, but quickly tried to prevent the unattractive action from happening, resulting in a small huff from his nostrils instead and an odd turn to the corners of his mouth for just a moment.

"Aw, ain't it cute to see a couple of newbies flirting?" Aston teased, upping the octave in his voice slightly, letting it sound the least bit more like it would have belonged to a girl. He tried to tell himself that the idea of pretending like that was stupid, that despite his flawless femme fatale appearance, being a guy on top of that was just the icing on the cake. But at the same time, who could resist the idea of tricking someone? That priceless look on someone's face when they realize they've been duped the entire time? It was a chance only to be gotten from the newbies, after all, seeing as everyone else already knew the punchline to that joke. And he hadn't really gotten to try it out yet, had he?

His eyes shifted quickly to the girl, tilting his head over to one side cutely and tossing a few strands of that long blonde hair of his over his shoulder while he looked her up and down. She hardly seemed like a diva, or a "wild child" in the sense that Aston typically took advantage of. She seemed to have a harder core, a sense of power, rather than a heart for fashion and a purse full of makeup. No one that Aston could win anything really worth while off of, for sure, but probably had a great poker face. Maybe she'd wanna play anyway. Still, despite that natural beauty and the commotion she must have caused, she almost was uninteresting to Aston.

"I'm willing to bet it was you who made that commotion with the guards earlier, right?" He continued, giving off a coy smile and putting his hands on his hips. "Aren't you just a big trouble maker, already making a commotion on your first day!"

Shifting his weight and straightening his head, he eyes trailed over to the blonde-haired boy, a classically pretty young man, the kind that young girls picture, only this on was wearing lazy looking clothing choices rather than shirtless and on a white horse. Not really Aston's type, needless to say, but probably the type of guy that that girl Roxanna would have liked, no? Still, something seemed... fundamentally wrong with the kid. A result of some kind of particular mutation? Probably.

"And you're such the gentleman for helping her out, aintcha?" Aston continued, his assumptions continuing before pushing past his little comments at almost the drop of a hat (a drop of a tiara, maybe? Hell no, he'd never drop that thing!).

He extended both his hands outward towards them, leaning his body forward and outstretching his hands, one crossed over the other. His left hand was in front of the person to his right, and the likewise for the other hand. Now, not to get him wrong of course; physical contact was really not Aston's best subject, and he had a nasty habit of saying "don't touch me" to people, but it wasn't as if either person standing before him would be so welcome as to shake his hand for much longer than the time duration that they could handle, oh, say, light electrocution. A nasty trick, and not one he pulled often knowing that the other person may actually reach for his hand (or whatever he was offering), but he always tried to convince himself that it wasn't really hurting people. It was nowhere near bad enough to make someone cry, after all! Just a little.... playful shock is all. They probably would just get about a centimeter away, receive that little shock - the kind one got from too much static in the air - and stop before going any further.

"Well, as the - ah-hem - 'official' Greyson greeting committee, Welcome to hell! And if you're interested in gambling during meals you should definitely hit me up." He grinned, watching for the movements of the two. Before he uttered his next sentence however, he let his voice drop back to it's normal tone. Not that he had a particularly deep voice to begin with, but it wasn't one that easily belonged to a lovely young girl. He didn't mind of course. The specifics of his gender identity were stupid to dwell on. He was one damn beautiful guy, though, and that had a beauty in itself, didn't it? "Anyway, nice to meet you two, I'm Aston. What're your names~?"

Re: Welcome to Greyson Reformatory

I feel like I should make up some more shit about EDEN Online. >_>

Re: Welcome to Greyson Reformatory

ahhhhh Aston is done! And i will have Kelson's reply by tomorrow, so anyone really who has not posted yet should go ahead whenever is possible for them, and people who may be waiting to do followup posts can go ahead with such OuO

Re: Welcome to Greyson Reformatory

Text with little to no break-up is annoying as hell, because it's a wall (or series of walls) of text. That just makes me say, "Fuck it."

I try to make paragraphs with a low sentence count and better topic separation so it's easier to stop and continue any time while reading it.

Now, seeing the posts of late, it looks to be about time I start making a post for Amethyst.
