Fergus has been in a few romantic relationships over the course of his short life and it is only natural that he consummated one of them. Their relationship died from the distance between them and it is still a sore spot for Fergus.

Personality
Fergus is a very unusual teenager, to put it mildly. He doesn't really care too much about partying, popularity, or what college he is going to go to. Rather, he is concerned with what he sees as more important: Who is he and why is he here? He does not pretend to be someone who knows the answer to these questions, but he doesn't hide the fact that he's trying to find out. Because of this, he has grown familiar with a number of religions and spiritual/philosophical traditions and, though he hasn't rejected any one of them, he is still searching for the answers to his questions. Though he isn't sure of the truth about the human soul and nature, he would tell you he does believe in God and that he believes that all living things are connected to each other. Isolation, he thinks, is an impossibility.

Despite this philosophy, Fergus isn't one for having a huge group of friends. Rather, there are only a few people at school that he would call a friend and trusts enough to share his own fears and insecurities, though he is quite open about who he is whenever he is with any type of person. He loves companionship, but he also loves solitude and being off on his own so he can think, meditate, pray, or just wander wander around in no particular direction. Fergus is one that is disappointed with the current materialistic culture surrounding him. It is shallow, fake, and utterly useless in his opinion. Material things and physical life on earth fades, in his opinion. What is important and immortal is the spirit. That isn't to say that he dislikes or detests useful possessions and technology, but he dislikes the idolatry that seems to surround it in present times. He sometimes wishes he lived in a different age, where the world was bigger and nature wilder and freer. He wishes he could have learned at the feet of great teachers like the Buddha, Jesus, Gandhi, Plato,, Krishna, Lao Tzu, and others.

Fergus does have a fondness for the town he now lives in, the school he attends, and the people around him. Even the most unpleasant students, whom he believes are trapped by their own disposition, are good at heart in his opinion. He will do whatever he can for a friend in a pinch as well as help a complete stranger without hope of reward besides advancing spiritually. His relationship with his parents, however, is strained at best. One of the questions he has in life is how he could reconcile with them or even if that is possible or desirable. In class, he is laid-back and doesn't care too much about his grades. In his opinion, schools cheapen education with the grading system. What is important is what he learns, though he'd put priority on certain things rather than, say math or physics. He has resolved to enjoy his high school years while can before setting off on a journey after he graduates or drops out, depending on the situation.

ImageGreatest joys in life
"That feeling you get when you feel union with yourself and the Divine/Universe.... It's heavenly.
  • Meditation/Prayer/Chants
  • Reading enlightening texts
  • Just getting lost in the universe, a person, a party, or anything

Greatest fears
"I think my greatest fear is Nothing. That there is no spirit, no brotherhood, no afterlife or release. Just a random universe doomed to die with no real meaning."

Priorities
"I just want to follow where the Universe leads me."
Enlightenment and true meaning is his priority. He does not know much about what he plans on doing after high school."[/i]

Life philosophy:
"Evil is literally Nothing."

Past
History:
Ironically enough, Fergus was bought up in a rich family. He was adopted because his mother wanted another child, but did not want to go through the pain of childbirth. His adopted father is someone who made it rich off Wall-Street while his adopted mother was born into old money, meaning Fergus' family wouldn't need to worry about money for at least 5 generations, though this doesn't stop his father from being obsessed with reaching new heights in the business world while his mother buys and spends money on whatever caught her fancy. His older brother, Ethan, is a perfect model of their father and expected to take on the family business. Growing up, Fergus was expected to do something similar, but despite being in want of nothing and being more fortunate than most people his age, Stephen felt that something was missing. There was an emptiness inside that he couldn't place or fill with new toys and games or high society friends.

His grandmother on his father's side was the one person who made the most profound impact on Fergus' life. She lived humbly, but was happier than either his father or his mother. She was the one who took Stephen to church and it was with her that he felt the emptiness within him recede, only for it to threaten to swallow him whole when she died. He found comfort in the funeral and church, but there were still other religions and other spiritual paths that he found out about when he was older and he realized that he didn't really know which was true. Still, he was sure there was Something and he took to reading, studying, meditation/prayer, and exploring nature, hoping to get a clear vision of the spiritual world that lay just beyond this physical one. He still went to church, but also went to other religions as well. He read naturalistic and metaphysical philosophies. All the while, his parents, particularly his father, just saw him as dreaming and wasting his time as he talked about the spiritual messages in Naruto of all things.

At school, Fergus fell in with a few other teenagers that he either enjoyed hanging around or shared his outlook on life. He also, in his spare time, learned many different languages and his teachers tell him he should really go into a career involving them and apply himself more. However, Stephen only gives more than a token effort to learn when it's something that truly interests him. He does not mind being one of the quirky ones at school, one of those people that stand out from the rest. He doesn't mind being called "hippie" "religious nutjob" or "pothead". They are just words and he knows what they are. He doesn't mind going to parties, but won't try drugs thanks to what he's seen of his mother when she abused medications and other over-the-counter substances and the fact that he knows that his father does cocaine. Drug use, in his opinion, creates more emptiness, not less.

At first, Fergus was rather annoyed with his parents since they decided to move from New York to California despite knowing that he has a somewhat hard time finding people he really opens up to. However, Fergus has since decided to accept it as Fate, the Universe, or God opening up a new path for him he wouldn't otherwise have traveled.

Tuesday, October 1, 2015: Spirit Week: Twin Day: 7:05 AM

It is, yet again, another day at the infamous Hollywood High School. At the same time, it isn't just any regular day. It is the second day of Spirit Week: Twin Day. And while most students are exhausted already on only the second day of one of the most fun weeks of the year (since they're all still technically still students and midterms aren't gonna study themselves), others are excited to pair off with their twins for the day. Excited to purchase Homecoming tickets...maybe anticipating actually asking that special someone to the dance. Don't forget that for the maximum amount of points for your class ALL or close to all of your classmates have to participate. Our delicious Devil Girls are giving out decadent treats during the lunch periods for the Cheer Candy fundraiser, Homecoming Prince & Princess nominations need to be submitted soon, and don't forget to pick up your Halloween tickets for Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain...

"I mean it exactly as I said. I have no intention of winning Homecoming Princess this year," Normani Devereux repeated herself - for the final time, she then decided - as she exited her royal blue Bentley Grand convertible. Siobhan, as she named her car, let out a small beep as she pressed the lock button on her keys before slipping the set of keys into the pocket of her jeans. Sliding her Michael Kors backpack over her shoulder (being mindful of the nails she had done herself last night), Normani fully turned to her group of followers, her own personal set of Wannabes that could always be seen following a few paces behind Normani if they all weren't rushing to class. Not like she treated them like followers, most of the time. From the outside, the other four girls seemed every much like a part of her circle as Normani wanted them to. After all, she didn't need them feeling the need to feel used. That left room for a hostile takeover out of spite and jealousy, and Normani Devereux did not have time to deal with one small mutiny in the midst of her two-year reign as queen of Hollywood High school. "Not like I'm making it some kind of public announcement or anything, but I have no need to win again. Don't make me repeat myself and don't any of you repeat me either." Her gaze was sharp, eyes slit only for a second, before her smile appeared again as she grasped the container of french toast muffins her head chef baked for herself anyone she wanted to share with.

While most of her classmates probably bitched and moaned their way through hot showers and breakfasts meant to wake them up to get to school that was only five to ten minutes away - twenty at the max, Normani lived an hour and twenty-two minutes away. Which meant she had been awake earlier than most, save for one Prep she knew for a fact worked himself to stupidity. It wasn't too much of an issue Normani; she had been doing so since freshman year and had a routine. She would wake up and perform yoga stretches, run a mile and a half, and then shower and go through her usual morning care regimen. Once that had been settled, she sat for breakfast, brushed her teeth again, and made sure all of her homework was collected in her backpack for the day and that her cheer bag was prepared. Afterwards, she got dressed in the Tommy Hilifiger outfit that would match with her bestie, Honey. While the latter was more inclined to wear a strapless crop top and high-waisted shorts, Normani preferred the long sleeved crop top, regardless of the California weather. For one, it was still a crop top and it allowed her to show her pierced navel. But it had sleeves since it was only slighter cooler in October, and her shorts and Nikes gave the entire ensemble a nineties feel that Normani could get with. She even added a pair of large silver hoops just to channel the era she felt that she was embodying. Once her hair and makeup were set, Normani gave an ootd post on Instagram, grabbed her bags and the freshly-baked muffins, and jetted over for the day.

Classes didn't start for a little over twenty minutes and Normani was in no rush to head inside to the cool building she would be stuck inside until later in the afternoon. So, she leaned back comfortably against her convertible as her followers welcomed themselves to the muffins that sat upon the hood of her vehicle. As they cooed over them hungrily (since Dinah always had a habit of skipping breakfast and Camila just loved food), Normani smirked in amusement, allowing her gaze to run over the parking lot as students and staff alike made their way over to the entrance of the school, conversing in groups or striding in in singles. A second later and she was texting her people, especially considering two were bound to be together.

A lapse of judgement. That’s what we’ll call it. It took Lennox a second to completely understand what just happened. But the more he thought about why the hell Chris just blew his top on him, he understood. He mentioned Taylor in front of him, which is a surefire way to lose a head or an ear or something when it comes to Chris. He and Taylor are not even close to friends and it was completely accidental. Lennox forgot entirely that Chris and Taylor aren’t really friends and the mentioning of such sent Chris off the deep end. It was an honest to goodness error but it sent Lennox into a face palm. He gets what he did was stupid but Chris’s reaction was just slightly over the top. Completely unnecessary if you ask him. Lennox awkwardly waved up to Chad as the boys were leaving, he swung himself around away from the guys departing. He took a deep sigh, and rubbed his face with his hands for a few seconds before looking up and meeting Taylor’s eyes. Tay greeted Lennox and Lennox smiled slightly, “Hey man,” Lennox acknowledged Taylor. Before he could say more, his phone started vibrating in his pocket with multiple texts. One from Olivia and one from Katherine. He decided to play it a little safer than normal and texted Kat back first.

To: Katie
Anything for you kitty Kat. Help me with Liv. Does she have a date yet?

Without texting Olivia back, he fumbled his phone around in his hands, waiting for Kat to reply. He turned his attention back to Tay. He figured he should answer his question before anyone else blew up on him. “Oh, it’s just Chris. Bad mood. As usual. You know.” He kept his answers short and choppy. No need to fuel any Tay-Chris hate fire. He nodded at Taylor’s menton of class, “Yeah, we should get going.” Lennox awkwardly smiled and started walking towards his class.

Tray and Raquel continued walking by each other and continued their conversation about who Tray was going to ask to the homecoming dance. He was obviously going to ask her but he wanted it to be cute. He wanted her to feel special about the way he asked her. He wanted to bring attention to her because he felt she definitely deserved it. He looked down at her after telling her about some mystery girl and noticed a blush to her cheeks. He looked back up and smiled to himself. The fact that he was who he was made no difference to him but apparently it was a thing. Tray didn’t care that he was a jock or a royal or whatever, he cared more about his character than his reputation. “That’s silly Raq. I’m nothing special.” He scoffed – not at her but more at the idea that he was something to be impressed by.

A moment of silence was followed by an excited grip on Tray’s arm. He looked down at her when she pulled away and was slightly confused. He liked that she felt comfortable enough around him in school to hold on to him. But when she pulled away, he wondered if it was because his clique status. He wondered if she suddenly felt weird being around him because he was ‘Trayson Garrison.’ That didn’t mean anything to him, but it meant a lot to others and now he was worried it meant something to her. She started to get flustered and stumbled over her words trying to get out of the awkwardness but instead digging herself deeper in the quick sand. Tray chuckled to himself and tried to calm Raquel down, “Hey, Raq. It’s fine honestly, I liked it.” He smiled at her but it didn’t help. She hugged him, and quickly rushed away to class, but not before asking to see him later. He nodded, “Sure thing Raq, I’ll text you.” She rushed off to class before he could say anything else.

Tray smiled to the thought of asking her to the dance. He knew that she was the best fit for him. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent her a text. But he knew that he’d need more than just himself so he texted his best friend in hopes to get a little help with a plan.

To: Raq

"Oh, you!!" Fergus exclaimed happily, crossing the hall and engulfing his friend in a hug. He had been vaguely aware of what was transpiring around him and the moment he got his friend's text, he decided to engulf him in a bear hug. No mere piece of technology could convey the depth of the emotions he felt at the moment. He felt the need to share it, regardless of the stares he was attracting. He grinned at his friend.

"You barely need to ask, my friend. I can feel the Universe steering you in this direction. I told you that Raquel was your Aatma Dost, didn't I?" he asked him with a grin, slipping into Hindi as he spoke. He took a step back, aware that the public just wasn't ready for heterosexual guy hugs lasting more than a certain amount of time. It was a pity, he thought.

"Now, I just need to ask someone out myself. I have to meditate or pray on it, but I'm sure I'll find someone. What do you need me to do?" he told his friend excitedly.

"I don't know.... I think it would look good on a model's resume," Ian told his friend in response to her quip. The popularity game was rather silly, wasn't it? He didn't understand it. Was there something truly wrong with him or Emma? He didn't think so, but in his darker moments, he hated what he saw in the mirror.

Ian paused at his friend's question, suddenly aware that he was in the presence of two very attractive girls. He wasn't too sure. He wanted to go. He really did. And he wanted to have a date that night too, he realized with some surprise, but would anyone look at him twice? Could he go stag with everyone else dancing with their dates?

"I'd want to," he began, only to be interrupted only to be interrupted by the one and only Katherine "Honey" Quinn. He listened to her nervous words with some relief, feeling his own nerves calmed somewhat. Katherine had no need to worry about school dances, but she did need to worry about he grades. People did have different strengths.

"Maybe you should order some tea? I think they serve some in the morning. It helped you remember the dates in history," he offered. He found that over the course of tutoring her, Honey didn't have trouble learning. She just got extremely nervous. So, he told her about how tea could help her calm down and remember the answers and she did well soon after. The placebo effect was fascinating and damn useful too.

MAYA LIMA
AND
FERGUS CAEDON

Collab written between lightningpoint and almostinsane

#15155E + #F9966B

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Fergus had his talents. He could pick up the basics of a language within a month and, given a year, speak it competently if not fluently. He could write long, insightful essays on the philosophy of Brave New World for his English class. But there were areas where he was decidedly lacking, math and science being two of them. He had to repeat algebra twice over the years and he took one look at physics and decided that it wasn't for him. He could at least pass Geoscience. At the very least, he would ace the cultural portions of the class.

With a tranquil, unhurried gait, he entered the classroom and sat in his assigned spot. Ms. Hernandez could be rather strict in his short experience with her, but he didn't mind being assigned a spot for once. Maya, the girl he sat next to, was a puzzle. On one hand, she was lovely to be around in class and when he ran into her at the beach when he just wanted to meditate on the ocean currents and forget about his parents. But on the other hand, the light of her personality could dim when he met her when she was with other people, particularly people from the A-List.

Maya means illusion, he mused to himself, could she be beset by one?

Maya had always been an average student in school. If there was anything she excelled at it was Biology, and that was it. Why on Earth she had chosen to take Foreign Languages this year was beyond her. But, trying to shrug off her uneasiness and placing on a confident mask, she strolled into the classroom with ease. She had done the same thing for the past couple of weeks, and so far she hadn't had any significant trouble with the class.

Mrs. Hernandez, the course's teacher, had a certain dislike for Maya, always calling her out for texting in class when her phone was clearly turned off, or for talking to apparently nonexistent students because Maya never talked willingly to anyone in this particular classroom. She quietly made her way to her assigned seat, another thing she hated about this class, and sat down glooming.

Next to her sat Fergus Caedon. A weird guy, if you asked her. A lot of times he tried engaging in a conversation with her unsuccessfully; just because they sometimes found each other at the beach and managed to do some small talk didn't mean Maya wanted to socialize with him during classes. But as weird as Maya claimed he was, he intrigued her. Not that she'd admit it out loud though.

Managing to catch him staring at her while the classroom still buzzed with students talking before class started, she turned her nose up and looked away, "You could take a picture, y'know? It lasts longer. Or just stalk my Instagram, I've got plenty for your eyes to see there," she challenged. She liked it when people stared at her, but something about Fergus made her queasy and nervous, so she snapped rather quickly about it, not liking how he unintentionally made her feel.

Fergus raised an eyebrow at her comments. She seemed edgy today. Rather than snap back at her, he shrugged and palmed his phone. It was an older model and didn't have an internet connection like the newer ones, but then, he didn't need to be on his phone that much. He grinned at her and pocketed it.

"You are prettier in real life. Instagram pictures always seem to be edited or whatever people do with them," he told her with a shrug, but as she asked, he looked away, "besides, social media is just lie, after lie. Like the clique thing."

Snorting quite unladylike, Maya turned back to look at Fergus with raised eyebrows, ignoring the blush in her cheeks from the compliment he had given her. "Honey, this world revolves around social media," she argued, "and if the social ladder was a fake, then no one would bother following it. It's just how it is."

The last sentences sounded more like Maya felt guilty for saying them than actually believing they were true. To her, her place on society was very important because she considered herself a "pretty face only" kind of girl, and these kind of girls only went far in life because of the social ladder.

Fergus snorted slightly, turning over to her with a raised eyebrow, "have I ever given you any indication that I thought that popular opinion was important? I like to wear monk's robes to school because I like them. And to shake things up."

He frowned slightly, his mind turning to his father's drug habit and his mom's obsession with appearances. "Wouldn't it be easier if people didn't pretend all the time?"

Rolling her eyes and ignoring his first comment, Maya focused on the second one. "Yes, it would be easier. But life's never been easy before, has it?" she replied grumpily, turning back to the front of the classroom. Most of the time she focused on being liked by everyone, never bickering with others to keep her reputation in place, but the way Fergus talked about her views intrigued her.

Class had already started and she didn't want any trouble with Mrs. Hernandez, though she could still feel Fergus's eyes on her and knew the conversation was far from over. This was probably the most she'd spoken to the guy. How could he stay so calm while she became so exasperated?

"No, it hasn't," he agreed, turning his attention to their teacher. For the record, he tried to pay attention. It wasn't a hard class, after all. Tides and currents were interesting and easy enough to learn about. Still, he couldn't keep his attention off of Maya. He didn't like having her upset with him, but it was better than the Stepford smiler act she did around nearly everyone else.

When Mrs. Hernandez wasn't looking, he wrote a note.

Any plans for homecoming?

A small piece of folded paper landed on Maya's desk, and when she turned her head to see who had given her the note, her eyes met Fergus's amused ones. She gave him a look with raised eyebrows as if mentally saying "A note? Really?" but shook her head, sighed, and unfolded the piece of paper carefully.

Inside he asked her if she had any plans to Homecoming. Maya couldn't believe the guy; first they argue, then he tries to find out what she'd doing for Homecoming. Is he going to ask me to be his date? Maya wouldn't be surprised, she knows she's beautiful and most guys around school wished they had her. But right now, she had only one guy in mind and she wasn't going to say his name out loud.

Taking a pen from her bag, she wrote back confidently, already forgetting their previous bickering.

None. Planning on asking me to be your date?

Maya was never one to stall; she liked to go straight to the point. Plus, she enjoyed being blunt too.

Fergus couldn't help but grin at her expression and her reaction to his question. He enjoyed her bluntness. It was real genuine emotion and he did his best to surprise her as much as he could in order to get a reaction out of her. Asking her out just now was one of those ways. That and she was beautiful and he wouldn't mind dancing the night away with her.

So what if I am? I like you so I thought I'd ask you out. I think we'd have fun.

Maya couldn't help the blush from creeping up to her cheeks this time, trying to cover her face from Fergus with her blonde hair and using it as a curtain. The note he gave back to her caused her quite the reaction. We mostly argue all the time, what on Earth must he like about me?

Oh, fuck it, she thought. Ignoring the facts, and liking the prospect of spending her Homecoming night with Fergus, she turned in her seat to face him while Mrs. Hernandez was distracted.

"Pick me up at nine p.m. sharp," she answered while smiling teasingly, "oh, and wear a light plum tie. That way we'll be matching."

Fergus took a moment to admire the blush on her face even as his smile widened at her answer. He was half-expecting her to turn him down. After all, he was always pushing her and for a moment, he was afraid that he went too far. He felt tempted to touch her hair. The way that she had been hiding behind it was too cute.

"I wouldn't want us to clash," he joked, "And I would say something about time being an illusion, but I know better than to keep a lady waiting."

"Mr. Caedon, could you please tell the class how a full moon affects the tides of the ocean," Mrs. Hernandez asked testily. It seemed that they had been too wrapped up in their own world to notice that the teacher had returned her attention to the students.

"Um... Something with gravity? Or Lord Chandra drives his chariot too close to the earth?" he joked with the most serene grin he could muster, earning laughs from the rest of the class.

Maya tried to hide her chuckle caused by Fergus's answer to the teacher's question biting her lower lip, shrinking into her seat and hoping Mrs. Hernandez didn't called her out too.

It must've been her lucky day, because after the teacher rolled her eyes and corrected Fergus by giving the right answer, she turned around to the blackboard without saying anything to Maya. But she was too distracted to notice, only thinking about what Homecoming would bring. It's ought to be an interesting night, she thought, amused.

Normani was unyielding when the group entered the nurse's office first, not even allowing Anthony to take a step inside. He stared her down for only a second before her steely gaze sent him right down the hall. He could lick his wounds like a little bitch when he was at home, but she would be damned if he was allowed to come into the nurse's office. Of course, all under the guise that "We wouldn't want to increase the likelihood of a second round in one of the neatest rooms in the entire building" just to get the nurse to stop giving her a bitch face just for being there. Not that Normani planned to stay the entire time or even walk the couple to the main office. She had class and Chris, despite having class, probably wasn't going to head back so late in the period. She didn't respond to Honey's exclamation about people considering her white trash or even that Olivia would try to get Hailey to replace Honey as a royal. Nobody replaced anyone without the final decision being left to Normani. And it would be a cold day in hell before she EVER allowed some random chick to suddenly be considered one of her besties, which was what all - or at least, the majority - of the Royals were. Best friends to their liege. It just so happened that Normani was the only one who was actually in power and again, she would be damned.

While Normani and Chris lingered by the opening of the nurse's office, Chad sat, feeling more guilty about being in trouble than for what he had done to actually get in trouble, hating the way the alcohol burned again his skin. The corner of his mouth quirked, instinctively, at Honey remarking that they would look badass. He also, shoving away his earlier frustration, did not hesitate in kissing her back regardless of the cough from the nurse. "Really, you two?" She snapped and finally, Honey pulled away so that the older woman could get a better inspection of him. Which only made him groan. "Cat..." he began in the middle of her plea to Normani, but Normani turned to him a sharp stare. "Shut it, Boy Scout." He could only bristle at her for the nickname, a rarity in and of itself unless she said it with a grin. "Just...wanted to tell her not to talk about herself like that," he said quietly, though the other three could hear him clearly. Normani just ignored it and Chris smirked lightly.

"Done," Normani finally said and shared a small look with Chris to which he only nodded. "Keep me posted on what the deliberation is and don't forget, beach party tomorrow." Hugging her bestie quickly, Normani finally tossed a gentle smile Chad's way. "Try not to take on any more missions, Batman. You don't have your trusty sidekick anymore." Finished with her partings, Normani headed back to class, but not without asking for a pass from the nurse. Chris nodded to Honey tensely, forgetting all about his typical flirtatious remarks in favor of turning to his own best friend. "Don't worry about a thing, Chad. We'll get it straightened out."

Location: Hollywood High School: Cafeteria ♕ Theme Song ♕ Mood: Devious

By the time the senior lunch period came around, most students were ready to go home. Particularly Normani who was already done with the excitement of the day. As soon as she made it out of her Physics class with Olivia and the others, she instructed all of her followers to find every hint of footage from the fight and delete them, sending each and every proof to her as a means to confirm that they all had been deleted elsewhere. It took until their lunch period, but it was enough to appease her mind. Once she got from cheer practice (which, for only the third time in her entire all-star cheerleading career that she actually did not want to go), she could place all of the footage on a single flash drive that she could hide unless she found a way to use it against Anthony in the near or later future. If he knew any better, he would make it later. Much, much later. Afterwards, she finalized the tweets and Snaps about her throwing a beach party for tomorrow since that was the next Spirit Week theme, a means of distraction for everyone else. Small moves, but enough to get the - for lack of better terms - "lesser" students to think about something else. However, despite the tame quality to her latest machinations, Normani was not done with Anthony. She made a promise and she was going to bury the situation. But before then, she sent out a few text messages.

To: Danny
Study date 2nite or nah?

To: Honey
Update plz

To: Angel, Camila, Chelsea
Don't forget ur cheer candy duties 2day

To: Liv, Kat
Headin 2 caf now

"I pretty much convinced coach already to bench him for the rest of the semester," Chris explained as they stepped into the cafeteria together. Normani normally made an entrance with her girls and she was going to spot them soon enough, but she had immediately run up on Christian the second she got out of eighth period. "He's pretty much fucked for the year. Coaches can't scout a bench-warmer." Normani was not satisfied. As anyone knew, messing with someone she cared about was one of the biggest mistakes a person could make. She was the one who stayed on top of any and everything. She had more dirt on the student body than a child wearing white tennis shoes on the baseball field did, and that was saying something. Despite her own band of followers, Normani received intel from students just begging to be acknowledged by her, even though she was privy to greeting all of her subjects. And that's what the students were at the moment - subjects. And she had a lesson to teach them - even if it meant making an example out of Anthony McLaughlin.

"Well, I want more," she said quickly, a hand on Christian's chest so that he wouldn't step any further into the line formed where the food was being served. She seemed to take her time in allowing her eyes to rake up Christian's muscled form before meeting his gaze. Which had his palms feeling suddenly more warm than they needed to be. He was nervous. He couldn't tell if Normani actually liked what she saw or was simply mulling over how to destroy him. Somehow, he thought it was both. "What I want is to make sure that the next time a no-neck fucker lays a hand on one of mine, the only thing on his mind is the cold chill of fear for how much more hurt he's gonna be than them." Christian didn't react for a moment, just because he couldn't read Normani. She rarely asked for violence and the other jocks could do so; they've done so. But she has never asked for it before. However, a small smirk flitted across his face as he stared down at his suddenly - though, not unsurprisingly so - sexy ex-girlfriend. "Playing with the dark side, aren't you Mani?" She shouldn't be influencing his flirtation, but that didn't stop Normani from discreetly playing with the lapels of Christian's jacket before allowing those same slender fingers to trail up his firm, covered chest. She paid no mind to the classmate nearby who had to gawk at the very obvious seduction. "Oh, baby, this ain't dark. Dark is my making it so that your boy Tony can never walk the halls of HHS ever again," she practically purred, batting her thick lashes up at him only for a moment before grinning and leading Christian over to the line.

"But see, he'll walk. I want him to, but only to gain the satisfaction of knowing that for every step he takes down a hallway, there's fear. And he remembers that the next time he steps out of the line I placed him in, there won't be mercy. I protect what is mine - we protect what is ours." It was a bold move, using them as a "we" when she had made it clear that she was not going to call Christian her man nor her King. However, stroking his ego just enough with the same amount of flirtation got the job done because his gorgeous eyes flashed hungrily before his smirk turned into a wolfish grin. "Consider it done." Normani only smiled brightly, ruffled his hair and then leaned up to kiss him on the cheek swiftly. "Thanks, babe." Ready to step away, Normani settled her gaze on the same classmate that eyed them in surprise and offered them the sweetest of smiles as she said, "You might wanna pick up your jaw off the ground, honey. You might choke on all the flies swarming around ya."

Satisfied, Normani eyed the cafeteria for her crew and found Liv and Kat entering the large room. Luckily for her, she was not one of the cheerleaders who had to run the Cheer Candy fundraiser today. They had a schedule and she had already manned it with a few choice cheerleaders yesterday, and would do so again on Friday. So, she had no need to rush over to her girls, though she stole a picture of them in the process of keeping an eye out for her crew. She would post it on Instagram later during the evening and send it to the chronicle for pics of the week. She made it her mission to traipse over to them, the naturally seductive sway in her hips a sight for sore eyes as she finally Kat and Liv. "Let's go put in our final Homecoming Prince and Princess, and then eat outside. Clifton's bringing our orders from Health Nut in five and it actually feels great out there right now. Besides, I've been in this building too long and I'm suffocating."

The term bat shit crazy is something that was roaming the halls of Hollywood High like a virus. Whispers among students had grown ten-fold and it seemed that no one cared about keeping their thoughts and opinions to themselves. The whispers had grown to fully audible murmurs that resonated through the halls of the high school. Everyone seemed to had lost their mind in a matter of a seven-hour day. It was quite terrifying actually how quickly everyone had turned on each other and the school year had barely even begun.

Tension was high between everyone. Friends seemed to be turning on each other as though there was a disgusting plague that infested everybody. Seemingly, true emotions and opinions were coming out once and for all and everyone seemed to be acting upon them. And the tension was so thick, it created a fog that clouded everyone’s judgement. Fights were breaking out; friendships were breaking; the day was a complete disaster.

Both Lennox and Tray knew little of what was going on around them. Tray knew just enough of what had happened because Honey had sent out a text, to him included, explaining what happened. He was a little shocked to hear about what happened, but he can’t say he was all that surprised. Honey wasn’t the type of person to sit around and let shit happen to her. She’d fight back with all her might, and Chad… well, Chad wouldn’t let anything happen to Honey. It seemed as though everything in the world was happening today.
Lennox received a text that infuriated him to a certain degree. Did James actually think that Lennox would believe that Olivia would say yes to him? The girl was not that desperate for a date to say yes to James Page. Not that James Page was a bad guy to like, but above Lennox Atwood? That simply wasn’t a thing that he would let happen. He disregarded the text entirely with the roll of his eyes and sent a text back to James and the group.

To: Chris, James, Sam, Chad, Val, Taylor
Sure ya did bud, have fun with that

Lennox knew he was running out of time. If James really did ask Olivia out to the dance, he’d want to hear it from her. He figured the best way to get the answer out of her was to send her a text, so he scrolled through his phone until he found Olivia’s name and sent her a text.

To: Liv
Liv! Heard the news, congrats on getting asked to the dance by Jimmy James!!

Perhaps Lennox was messing with the bull in this situation, but he was going to wait for the horns to come his way before he packed away from this fight. Knox truly believes there’s no one else more worthy for Olivia than him. It’s entirely an irrational thought but Knox refuses to believe anything else. The pedestal is high for Lennox this time. Lennox made his way around campus looking for his friends before his phone went off again with a few texts from Sam. He never understood why Sam insisted on being friends with everyone and inviting everyone to everything. More particularly he didn’t get Sam’s friendship with Tray.

Tray’s day was as busy as always. His friends were starting brawls with other people and tension was rising hour by hour. Before he knew it the entire Royals Class had created issues within the clique and the drama was quickly ensuing. Tray did his best to stay out of the trouble. He didn’t like getting involved in other people’s problems to begin with, but even more than that he didn’t like to be at any root of trouble. He had too much at stake to get involved in anything that caused suspensions or the likes of such. When the text came from Honey, it made Tray chuckle to himself. Mostly out of amusement of the fact that Honey tried to fight a guy. He didn’t expect Anthony to punch back though – didn’t take him for a woman beater but Anthony always has been the type of guy Tray kept his distance from.

The day went on seemingly fast, however. Tray barely had enough time to round Fergus together to help him with his plan. In between classes, however, the two would meet in the class to pass notes, plans, and ideas. Tray’s idea was to create a promposal for Raquel out in the parking lot. He wanted it to be something cute but not too over the top. The two weren’t dating after all, but perhaps this could have been the segway into that relationship.

Tray skipped two of his classes today in order to get everything together for his asking Raquel to homecoming. He went out and got a few bouquets of roses and used those to write out Homecoming? right in front of her car. He recruited the help of Fergus to stand by and watch the roses to make sure nothing happened to them. At lunch time, Tray met up with Raquel once again. The teasing was cute but Tray just wanted Raquel out in the parking lot so she could see the message Tray left for her. “So why not head out there? We should take your car Raq.” Tray smiled and winked back at her as he joined Raquel and Tyler out to the parking lot.

Ian thought for a moment. He didn't have any plans at the moment. He had already finished most of his homework, but none of his friends were interested in doing anything. He opened his mouth to reply when his phone vibrated against it. Sheepishly, he took it out of his pocket and read Hunter's text.

"Oh, I have calculus to finish with Hunter. I'm not sure if he wants to meet at his and, well, your house or mine. I can eat with you and then meet with Hunter wherever," he told her awkwardly. He wasn't sure how well she and Hunter got along. He wasn't sure how he'd feel if his parents got divorced and one of them remarried, expecting him to see complete strangers as siblings.

"I can follow you. No sense in leaving my car here," he told her before texting his friend.

To: Hunter

No problem. Your place or mine?

Fergus stared at the bouquet of flowers on Trayson's car, attempting to pay attention. Don't get him wrong. Fergus was always happy to help a friend in need, particularly for something like this, but he was notoriously flighty and absentminded. Standing still for anything but meditation or prayer just wasn't in his nature. But, his friend needed him to make sure the flowers stayed in place, so he fidgeted and waited for his friend to lead Raquel to her car.

"Maybe I should have put more thought in asking Maya out... Next time, if it goes well," he promised himself. He hummed absentmindedly.

Hunter slowed his pace as he made his way through the parking lot as he waited for Ian's response. As he walked through, he spotted Fergus standing by a car that was adorned with flowers and a homecoming proposal. Like most of the other students at Hollywood High School, Fergus was one that Hunter was not very familiar with. He knew his face and name, but nothing more than that. Regardless, he didn't think that he looked like the kind of guy who would go all out like that for a girl. If he had known the full story, and knew that it was actually Trayson's proposal for Raquel, it probably still would have surprised him. His old school had homecoming, in the sense that it was the homecoming football game that kickstarted their team's season, but there was no dance associated with it. Kids asked each other to prom in manners like this, but he didn't really know that homecoming was this big of a deal at some high schools. He had to give credit to Fergus, who he thought to be the mastermind behind the flowery display, knowing that whatever girl he was trying to swoon would probably spread her legs following that dance if he kept up this chivalry.

To: Ian
You're welcome at my place if you want. No pressure if you don't feel like getting a head start on the work though. I just suck with procrastinating and am trying to end that side of me this year before college lol. I'm leaving now, so lmk when you get to my place.

Hunter responded to Ian's text, but didn't want to seem like he was pushing for the guy to hangout if he wasn't in the mood. He liked Ian and found him to be one of the easiest people to hang out with out of this school's student body, but Hunter didn't want to seem desperate for socialization.

Normally, he would have waited for his younger sister, Bridget, to finish her classes, so during ninth period, he would have sat in the courtyard doing work or even lowered the seat in his car and slept for the fifty minutes, but earlier that morning, she insisted that she was hanging out with friends after school. It worked for him, since it meant one less ride filled with blaring Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber music, and fifty less minutes on this campus.

Jada didn't see many perks in welcoming a stepmother and two stepsiblings into her home, but maybe Hunter was beginning to prove her wrong. Apparently, he and Ian had made plans to hang out, and that meant that Jada didn't need to feel guilty for leaving Ian, since she wasn't sure that he and Hailey hanging out would be a very comfortable or compatible match. "Oh, don't worry about getting food with us then," she commented with a toss of her hand. "Wouldn't wanna keep you two from getting all smart," she teased. "And our chef's there until seven, so he'll make lunch for you guys if you want. Go, and I'll see you at Mani's party tomorrow if I don't catch you during the day, right?" she continued with a smile, waiting for his response before waving him off.

This party that Normani was throwing was definite going to be a good one. J could feel it. The theme was on point, Mani never disappointed to begin with, and this was one of the parties where the entire school was basically invited. Some parties that the Queen Bee threw were exclusively for her A-list clique (which Jada would tell you she would never want to be seen at anyway, because they had to be the definition of boring). Some were for Mani's friends, which were a mix of the cliques, but basically only A and B listers. These were usually fun, and frequently the same crowd that showed up at parties that the Animals, like herself, threw, minus some of the snobby preps. Sometimes, these parties where there was no guest list, were the best, though. It was such a random mix of people that exciting things were bound to go down. Plus, Jada always got a kick out of seeing some of the goody-two-shoes kids *cough*Raquel*cough* try to have fun without downing some Patron in the process.

To: Hailey
kk omw

It took five minutes for Jada to find Hailey, and point one seconds for her to want to smack Hailey when she saw who she was standing with. Jada wouldn't give Katherine Quinn the importance by saying that she hated her, because she wasn't that important. She was just a pest. Not even a bitch. A brat. A whiny little brat who literally thought every planet in the universe orbited around her, and whenever anyone suggested otherwise, the amount of shock and self-pity she had for herself was equivalent to that of a victim of some crazy, traumatizing natural disaster. And no, Jada wasn't just judging a book by its cover. She had dealt with Katherine a few times, and that was enough to leave her wanting to knock the brunette out. The only reasons she hadn't was because she was Mani's friend, and Jada didn't want to feed into that typical "angry black bitch" reputation she felt like people pinned her as having. It would be too easy.

"You ready?" she simply asked, not even looking at the brunette as she stared at Hailey while twirling her car keys around her finger.

"I love you...I do. I know...I-I-I know I don't say it often enough, but never doubt that. And never doubt that I don't blame you for earlier - for any of this. I just...you want to be Catalina right now and I just wanna forget that the last few hours just happened. Can we do that?"

That was what Chad had had to say about the situation yesterday and that was honestly how he wanted to leave it for now. While the reasonable and logical human being inside of him understood the importance of having the conversation his girlfriend had been trying to conduct, a rather petulant version of himself - which had taken on the outer visage that Catalina had to confront - was adamant to leave it where it was. Yesterday. Or...well, at the time, it had been earlier in the day yesterday, but now he was definitely not in the mood to confront the events of the day before. No, he wanted to actually enjoy a party. He wanted to drink (and did Chadwick Arsenault drink often? Abso-fucking-lutely not, but he was gonna do it today!) and laugh at some of his classmates (because knowing Chris' goofy ass, he would be the main one trying to belly-dance) trying to belly-dance, maybe even partake in some hookah. Who knew? The point was that no, he did not want to talk. No, he did not want to acknowledge the rage at which he had attacked Tony. That also meant not wanting Honey to change, in any way since he had fallen in love with her for being herself, not because he wanted to eventually change who that person was. Kinda defeated the purpose, if you asked him.

Of course, that meant asking him and he wasn't even answering his own girlfriend, so...shit out of luck going once...twice...sold and totally forgotten.

Which was good for him because soon enough he was parking a little down the street from Normani's home. It shouldn't have been a surprise that after only thirty minutes of her Arabian Nights themed beach party that the party was already all over social media with people posting pics of themselves with Hijabs (which a few of the Muslim and Arabic students had been privy to not doing because of reasons), henna tattoos, hookah vapors all around them, and going on and on about how great the party was. Hell, he could hear the music from where he was helping Honey out of the car. If Normani never made it in the fashion industry, as Chad had told her several times over, she could easily go into event planning because she never held back with a party. Plus, she had chosen a great venue considering there was ample space between her home and others, with her only being connected to the nearby few through the sandy pathway leading from the back of her home down to the beach where a few smaller homes were situated.

Once Honey was out, he linked hands with his girlfriend and made their way closer to the house, bumping fists (totally random, mind you since he could only recognize the guys from a guy classes and definitely not by name) with a few guys and waving at some female classmates. Seeing everyone else go a certain path while others stood around in the beautiful lawn with cups in their hands and conversing, he turned to his girlfriend with a small smile. "Mani's probably still upstairs beautifying herself, or so she would say. Do you want to go wait for her or head down to the beach with everyone else?"

Yes, Christian Hernandez was having a great fucking time. After helping the hostess herself out earlier in the day with overseeing setting up, making sure DJ Morse Code was good and comfortable, and test-tasting (which didn't really need to happen, but both Christian and Mani liked food so this was bound to happen) the absolutely mouth-watering foods, he had really just lounged around at a friend's house in the neighborhood until the party. Lounging meaning that he shot a few hoops, watched a movie or two, and had a bit of a video game session before showering for a second time and getting ready. Which didn't take long since, considering the fact that Christian wasn't a girl that would do the utmost at a beach party, it was a beach party. All he needed was a pair of orange Dan Ward swim shorts, a plain white muscle tee that had been thrown off about fifteen minutes ago, and a pair of Dan Ward sandals that happened to have a bit of wet sand in them at the moment - and Chris was good.

He was even better now that he and a few jocks had successfully thrown a few of the squealing Prep girls (and one of their guys since he wanted to be a prissy little bitch) into the crashing waves, with all of them coming up sputtering and screeching out playful threats. Chris high-tailed it the fuck outta dodge, heading back to one of the lounges so as not to get attacked by pissed off girls who should have remembered that being near water meant actually getting wet. Once there, he smirked at a few girls sitting and gossiping, while pulling out his phone to check on a few of his people.

To: Angel
Don't tell me ur 2 good to come 2 a party now?

To: Chad, Dom, James, Lennox, Sam, Tray

While Normani was more than ready to get to her guests and be amidst the fun and just good energy she had noted from the second people started arriving at four, she had returned to her room with Liv and Kat to actually finish getting ready. She had been adamant earlier that every detail be perfect, even with the fire show that would go on at around half past six in the evening. Just when sunset was happening so that it would be dark enough for the show to actually be entertaining and not just random, and her showing off. Not that she wasn't showing off (since come on, she was fucking amazing! Her showing off was equivalent to a lot of girls doing too damn much, just with her...ya know, doing it better) considering when was the last time Normani had even thrown a party at her own home, let along have all the details she had set up? As promised, she had gotten her girls, along with her loyal followers, manicures and pedicures. Hell, to be nice since they had all helped with setting up and being the first to sample the henna artists, she had allowed them all two glasses of her Pernod Ricard Perrier-Jouët champagne during lunch. And Liv and Kat would be the first to tell you - Normani did not serve such an expensive item just willy-nilly.

So, while everyone else was making their way down the dimly-lit pathway from her home to the beach where large lounges were set up with soft cushions, various draperies of jewel tones, and hookah and music lingering in the air around them, Normani was in her bedroom, fully dressed and putting on the final touches to her attire. Her own henna tattoos had been done earlier. "For the record, you can't even say I didn't warn you this time around about what I was wearing," she decided to toss over her shoulder in the direction of her closet's main entrance where Liv and Kat were still in her bedroom, fixing up the last of her eye makeup. The strapless, aqua-colored bandeau bikini she wore emphasized the absolutely flawless figure she held and a semi-sheer sarong was held comfortable on her curvy hips. Her hair had been finished just after her shower earlier and a gold-tone filigree heart crown head piece sat on her head regally, bringing together the hint of Arabian royalty that Normani was going for. Plus, there was something about wedges (or heels, in general) that had her feeling absolutely flawless. She had even changed her bellybutton ring for the occasion.

"You girls ready? Lauren just told me more people are showing up and there is a Long Island Iced Tea that is just screaming my name at this point," she said, walking out of her very spacious closet to confront her very gorgeous best friends.

Normani had a fixed stare on Catalina, taking in her friend at what she was displaying at the moment. It was true that to most people, the blonde crooner was detached, even more-so than Normani could ever be. Even more than that, she wasn't being Catalina as Normani had suspected earlier. If she had been the more pliable and forthcoming version of herself, it had to have been when she had first arrived, when her fingers were still laced with Chad's and the two were going on as if nothing had really happened. But something did happen and now, as Normani officially caught on (since she had an inkling on the way over, but chose not to acknowledge it), the blonde before her wasn't Catalina. Catalina would spill in a heartbeat, no matter who was near. Catalina wouldn't be turning to tequila and wanting to amp the party up so suddenly when she didn't even like large crowds like these as much as when she was playing at the singer she was on a nine-to-five basis. This was the singer. This was Honey and Honey wasn't going to truly talk to Normani. Not here, anyway.

It was a bit disheartening, really. Normani was trying - no, she was going to enjoy her party. But she actually hated when her friends were upset, particularly now when her face remained stoic despite the off feeling in her chest. Which was why her phone buzzing in her other left hand was a welcome distraction. She read Dominic's text with a small tilt of her head, face impossibly cool. If he considered that one of her reactions would be that she gave zero fucks (aside from the part where she was only slightly disappointed that she wouldn't get the eye candy she would have liked for the evening) about his lack of presence, then the King of the Jocks was very much correct. Normani's relationship with Dominic was...interesting, to say the very least. To be quite frank, she should not like him. Chad had a thing against the guy's aura and Mani didn't know when the fuck the Prep started reading people's auras, but she took his perception of the jock seriously enough. Chris actually liked the guy, called him one of his "boys," though it had questioning where Chris was, in fact, one of Dominic's "boys." And Mani...Mani could accept the fact that Dominic was fairly attractive. Okay, fairly shouldn't have been used and attractive was too basic - more like, Dom was hot as fuck and yes, she had considered dropping it low and picking it up slow for the sake of a little fun with him. At the same time, he was one of Christian's friends (not like she actually cared since Chris ain't had no claim on her since last year) and because...there was some part of her that recognized that she shouldn't like him. There was something about his aura, which made him as disconcerting as surprisingly appealing. It was enough to make Normani tolerate him, enough to not give a damn that he didn't appear tonight.

Besides, she wasn't particularly surprised by his not showing up. After being informed of his "friend" that had arrived in America and actually hearing about the girl through social media, Normani had received the notification from one of Anthony's former friends that the guy was headed in the direction of Dominic's homes. Not like she cared since no matter what Dominic said to the boy, Normani had already wished him hell. King of the Jocks didn't mean shit once the queen of everything had spoken. She respected Dominic's power over the athletes, she actually did. A lot more than most people suspected and the boy knew so. She just didn't care about Anthony anymore.

"You know what?," Normani perked up suddenly, smiling wickedly at Catalina. "Forget this chick flick bullshit. You are going to finish that shot and we're," she was quick in slurping down a large quantity of her tea, practically the entire glass before setting it down on the bar, "turning the fuck up." She wouldn't force Honey to talk, not here. Not when there were too many people at the bar waiting to hear drama. No, they could save it for one of Honey's "family nights" as she called them. For now, they were gonna be teenage girls winding it up on the dance floor. With that thought settled in Normani's mind and thoughts of either Dominic or Tony out of her head, Mani grabbed Honey's wrist and was about to pull the blonde when...Fergus appeared.

Normani could have easily dismissed him and went on about pulling her bestie onto the dance floor in favor of forgetting any drama, but she played nice, her lips straightening into a thin line (as if her plump lips would ever be thin, but ok). Her face remained as such up until she saw the poster he had in his hands - the only one of actors' she did not have. "Duuuuuuuude!" She exclaimed rather excitedly, practically squealing as she sent Honey bright eyes. She didn't even care about the apology; that shit could be evaluated later. All Normani cared about was that her mood had been lifted. "You're kinda awesome," she told him when their gazes met and accepted the present, folding it carefully and turning to one of the bartenders. "Ralph, make sure this gets to my room. Unscathed and get this guy a drink." She turned back to Fergus with a small grin, a bit perturbed by this idea of reincarnation but didn't have it in her to call him for it. Instead, she said, "Since you're here, might as well enjoy the festivities." She gestured to the bar before catching Ian's eyes. "Ian, you shouldn't keep your friends at the bar all night. Come dance." It was only going to show that Normani was back into a good mood and that meant hostess Normani was on. Or, entertainer her. Either way meant fun for anyone who was with her.

"Come on, babe," she exclaimed on a tug of Honey's arms, leading the girl onto the dance floor to lose themselves in the music.

Who said good things couldn't come to those who started out the night doing shots of whiskey? When Fergus arrived, Ian didn't think it would turn out well for anyone as Normani didn't seem to like him that well and she could be downright scary if pissed off, but it seemed that Fergus brought her the right gift and she even turned his way and invited him to dance with her and the others on the dance floor. True, it wasn't a dance with just her, but he didn't want to say no to her. He never could anyway.

"Of course, I won't!" he told her before turning to Hunter with a grin, "Do you want to dance? I feel like dancing. Follow me!"

Unfortunately for him, he didn't quite know how to dance beyond what he knew from infrequent attendance of Jewish celebrations at his synagogue. Still, he couldn't just stand there. He tried to move with the music and act out what he remembered. What followed was a sort of circular dance that he felt wasn't too bad. Fergus, at least, lifted a glass from where he was sitting at the bar. He also lifted his glass up at Normani in acknowledgement and speaking of her, Ian wondered if he could maybe dance with her, just one time tonight. Out of bravery that had more to do with alcohol than he'd like to admit, he made his way towards her as casually as he could.

"Would you like to dance with me?"

His face was flushed and he felt terribly nervous, but he still managed to move with the beat of the music without looking awkward. He hoped so at least.

Of course, who else would greet her on the dance floor other than her cheer babes!? Normani honestly shouldn't have been so surprised, but the second that she and Honey were on the dance floor, she flung herself into Dinah's arms, rocking to the sound of what she believed to be Justin Bieber. Could have been a lot of people, but she was honestly down for anything as long as it enabled her to dance. And it always helped when she was with her fellow Devil Girls. The group was always in sync whenever they got together, recalling long nights after practice or when one of them hosted girl nights where they would come up with the dumbest routines that they would never actually use for a competition unless they were on the street. Normani's bond with the Devil Girls solidified her role as their leader and theirs as her subjects, but she had also managed to find kindred spirits in them. The cheerleaders, while mostly grouped with jocks, were hers. And, despite Catalina's mood, were always a recipe for one hell of a good time.

In the midst of playfully twerking on Dinah, whose hands her own hands covered on her hips in the midst of a laugh as she leaned back against the much taller girl, Normani's gaze fell on Ian, who wasn't much farther away. Fergus had opted to stay at the bar, which was fine with her since no one could kill her vibe on the dance floor. But I an...Ian was precious. His skin had taken on a nice pink shade that he couldn't even attempt to blame on the setting sun even if he tried, he was highly not moving to the beat of the music, and he seemed so out of his element that an actual laugh bubbled forth before Normani could contain herself. And when he asked her to dance, how...how was she actually expected to say no to that? "First off, you're gonna need to loosen up, sugar," she practically (and she couldn't be blamed for it because why not make him even more flustered than he already was?) purred when she stepped closer to him and placed her hands on his hips lightly. Luckily for them, one of her favorite Teyana Taylor tracks and the same one she had performed choreographer from Sean Bankhead began playing. It was the perfect recipe to get a person "looser" for dancing.

"Don't overthink dancing. Just move to the rhythm...just like that," Normani instructed patiently, coaxing Ian to move to the same beat as her, sliding up closer to him so that they were dancing more together instead of with some unnecessary space. Which was, well, it was easy considering how many people had gravitated to the dance floor once it seemed the majority of the Devil Girls and two Royals were on it. For Normani, this was harmless. She wasn't particularly attracted to Ian, though she could see the appeal. Dancing...dancing to her was second-nature. More than that, it was about enjoyment, nothing deep. She'd danced with Animals, Geeks, Drifters and the like; she didn't have to discriminate when it came to partners. Which was why when she caught Katherine's eye over Ian's shoulder, all she did was raise an eyebrow at the brunette before returning her gaze to the male in front of her.

Releasing his hips, she grinned, still rocking to the sensuous beat the DJ put his own spin on, hips subtly winding with the memory of a routine that would put all eyes on her. At the moment, however, she didn't need to do much. They already were. "See," she shot Ian a wide grin, "Nothing too complicated." And she probably would have continued on dancing, maybe mindlessly falling back onto Catalina if Katherine's insistent, shocked gaze didn't pull her towards the brunette. "Save me a dance, love," she said lowly to Ian and winked at him, before sliding through the throng of writhing bodies easily to be in front of her brunette bestie. "Honestly, Kat, fix your face. You'll give me the impression that you want to be the one that dances with me." Normani stated suggestively, with a little playful quirk of her lips.

Okay, he was nervous and he could not quite stop himself from noticing how beautiful Normani was even in the flashing lights of the dance floor, but she was a remarkably good teacher when it came to dancing and Ian was always a good teacher. Perhaps he stiffened at first when they touched, but soon enough, he was actually matching her movements with his own and while he wasn't as good as her, obviously, he was still keeping pace with her. He smiled at her.

"You're right. Thank you," he told her. She seemed prepared to dance with him more, but unfortunately, even he could feel the gaze burning into them. At her words, Ian gave her a smile.

"You don't even need to ask."

As he watched her walk over to Katherine, Ian suppressed the urge to sigh. He really hoped this social ladder bullshit would loosen up this year. Still, he was on the dance floor and he wasn't dancing too badly at the moment, so he decided to try to enjoy himself. Normani did imply she'd want to dance later, after all.
