P E R S O N A L I T Y
Solid and steadfast, Aze has always been one to stick to his guns. His soft manner of speaking and quiet charm belie his true strength. His world revolves around truth: the outer truth of the world and the inner truth of individuals. His emotions tend to be deep and strong, but he can seem calculating at times, puzzling out the world around him through a camera lens. At a party, he'll always be the one standing alone in the corner.
At a glance, Azaiah seems quiet and introspective. While this isn't untrue, he also holds a frightening intensity that only comes out when he's wrapped up in a cause, be it a work assignment or a personal project. As one gets to know him, his fanatical passion becomes more and more evident. He finds it difficult to come out of his shell to make friends, but to those friends he makes he becomes endlessly dedicated.
H I S T O R Y
Born in New York City under a different name, Azaiah's Russian mobster father died a gruesome death before his first birthday. His mother moved them back to her hometown of Stamford, Connecticut, and changed his name. To protect herself and her son, she pretended the man never existed. They took her maiden name and lived two houses down from her parents. The neighborhood was also filled with Aze's numerous aunts and uncles.
They lived a seemingly normal life. Although they started out close, Aze and his mother's relationship became strained as the years went on, especially as she started drinking more. She spent more time away from the house, either leaving him with a relative or alone at home. He was a straight-A student, but he remained closed off from his classmates. He got his first camera at the age of eight, and he fell in love. From then on, he experienced his life through the lens of his camera. He joined the school newspapers and the yearbook staff. As he grew older, his mother began to try to find more ways to tie him down in Stamford to avoid losing him.
When he graduated high school, he was hired to take pictures by a local newspaper. With each day that passed, he grew more restless staying in his hometown. He decided to move to New York City for the chance to freelance for the papers there and possibly break into the artistic photography scene. He and his mother got into a bitter argument before he left, and he has only spoken to her briefly since. After a couple of years of struggling to make rent in shoe box apartments, he found Westport.

MANIPULATION. Aze hates feel like he's being controlled. HEAT. Aze doesn't like the hot weather of summer.
[ STRENGTHS ] - Aze's biggest strength in his eyes is his formidable skill with a camera. He is also incredibly passionate, which leads him to a level of dedication most can only dream of. He is curious to explore the world around him and open-minded when he does.
[ WEAKNESSES ] - Since the beginning of time, Aze has been known to lose himself. In his work, and in his thoughts. He is inexperienced in relating to others, so while he takes purposeful steps outside of his shell, he can make many missteps. He started smoking when he was 13, and although he has quit several times, he occaisionally relapses. Aze has tendency towards obsession with things he enjoys.
[ FEARS ] - Aze is afraid that he's deluding himself in his skill. He worries that he'll lose his agency and be controlled by someone for the rest of his life. But the thing that scares Aze most is dying like his father did.
