Maxxie Salcido's Story

"Maxxie?! Where are you it's time to get on the plane!" Sam looked for her twin brother and getting shushed by two old women in the process. She glared finally spotting her brothers dark hair and gray jacket leaning on the wall head down. She jogged up to him, "Maxxie? Come on they called our flight. Do I need to make mom come and hold your hand?" She knew he hated to be treated like a baby, but it did the trick. Maxxie lifted his eyes even though with his height she could just look up and be looking at them. "No." That was all he said before grabbing his carry on back pack and following her to the gate. The man taking his ticket eyed him suspiciously. "No hoods on sir." Maxxie glanced at Sam who retaliated his look with a pleading look. He sighed and took his hood off shaking the hair from his dark brown eyes. Sam led her brother onto the plane and took their seats. As soon as they were sitting, Maxxie turned his phone to airplane mode and plugged in his headphones drowning out reality with his bands loud music.
Maxxie kept his eyes out the window his music the only thing he cared about he popped his hood up. He felt bad for not keeping his sister company, but if there was one thing about his twin her knew, she didnt mind as long as he was there. He felt a tight squeeze around his wrist and knew Sam was anxiously awaiting the lift off. She hated it the most. Sam looked up her eyes following the blonde boy that got on the plane. As soon as that sat she turned to her brother. The death of their youngest sister destroyed all emotion left in her brother after their parents divorce. She knew he cared and hed protect her, but the twinkle in his eye was gone. Most of his time was taken by working out, running, with his bamd, or in his room. It took all she could do to make him take this summer long trip with her. She hoped itd help him. She laid her head on his shoulder amd felt him tense then relax. It wasnt hos fault and he needed to know it.
Maxxie looked at his sister as she flipped the boy off and supressed a smirk. He had always been the one to get himself in trouble, but she didnt take crap. She looked up as him and shrugged before stealing am earbud and putting it in her own ear. "He didnt have a reason to wink." Maxxie chuckled softly, "now now stay out of trouble thats my job." She grinned. "Mom say neither of us can get into trouble. Or she wont buy us those cars." He rolled his eyes. I dont need a car, he thought and shut himself back up and turned to the window. Sam saw this and frowned. "Maxxie, it wasnt your fault. You didnt tell the driver in the other car to be drunk or to run the stop sign." He glared at her. "I dont want to talk about it." He took his ear bud and turned back to the window. "Fine," Sam crossed her arms and sighed.
It was a quiet few hours for Maxxie and Sam. Eventually, Sam got up to stretch her legs and shift her shorts. Maxxie looked up, "dont do that. You may attract a few creeps attention." Sam rolled her eyes and plopped down. "At least theyd be more conpany than my antisocial always getting into fights or kicked out twin brother," she snapped. They both turbed away from the other.
Sam glanced at Maxxie and stood again moving to the two empty seats in the back. Maxxie didnt even glance her way. She sat down and crossed her legs looking out the window. Maxxie turned the volume of his music up and let himself become one with the music that played. His own vocals relaxing him and calming him for his endurance.
Sam glanced at the boys hand and shook it, "Sam." She glanced up at Maxxie who still hadnt noticed she left. "Typical," she muttered. Sighing, she turned back to her guest and flashed her brightest smile. "So what did you want?" She kept her distance as she spoke. Sam didnt want any trouble, especially not when her brother would blow things way out of proportion.
Sam held up her hand to correct him, "twin brother." She glanced at her brother who stared hard out the window. "Maxxie is my twin brother. I moved back here cause you wanted company. My brother would have objected to trading places." She looked toward the girl Kyler had been sitting beside. "You might wanna get back to your seat before she sees you with another girl." Sam got up and started to slide past him to go back to her seat.
Sam sat hesitantly. "You are one of those guys. Arent you?" She looked him directly in the eyes a serious look on her face, "the kind to make nice then disappear." Sam trusted no one except Maxxie and her mom, and she trust Maxxie even more than their mom. Maxxie had no filter and told you like it is whereas their mom sugar coated everything. She wanted to trust everyone but after their father... how could she.

The boys reaction only brought a smirk to Sams face. It appears i was right, she thought. She didnt move from the seat and lounged relaxed. Sam often put guys to the test with the same words. Even more often, they reacted the same. "They are all the same," she said to herself. All she wanted was for once a boy to smile and laugh softly then ask to prove her wrong. Maxxie passed by Kyler muttering, "just cause im older by 5 mins doesnt mean i have to babysit Sam." He grabbed her by the wrist she yelped softly. Maxxie loosened his grip and pulled her to their seat. He sat her on the inside seat. "Dont make me call mom and have you sent home. Im your brother not your babysitter."
Sam sighed and stared out the plane window. The announcement for their destination sounded. She felt Maxxie shift uneasily in his seat. She grabbed his hand instinctively. She was ready for this vacation. She was ready for fun. And she was ready for love, but if she could find a guy that could handle her test what was the point in trying. I hate being alone, she thought. Why can't I be swept off my feet already.
Maxxie relaxed under her touch. As he looked at her he saw the same thoughtfulness that reminded him off their little sister Olivia. He put his music away and closed his eyes. They were 20 mins away from their vacation spot, and he wasn't excited. He thought back to his break up with Sarie and sighed. He didn't need her why should he, all she wanted was sex. All he wanted was love and comfort. He would just as soon jump a bridge than get back with her like she wanted. Oh well, he thought. She's gone.

She looked at him for a minute, with kind, loving eyes, and looked away remembering she had just woken up from a nap on a plane, and her hair was probably a mess. As Kyler walked out, he saw the guy that Maddie was eyeing earlier, opening the door. He shot her a text, "I'll see you there." and went back in the airport, walking up to Sam. "Hey cutie." He winked, and stood in front of her. "Do you need an escort?"
Maddie blushed madly, and smiled shyly. "T-thanks... " She chuckled, hopping in, but stopped the door when he went to close it. "I'm Maddison, but you can call me Maddie." She stuck her hand out for him to shake.

Sam turned and moved toward her brother. "I guess we will." Sam waved and ran off toward her brother as their rental car pulled up. Sam took the keys knowing Maxxie would be to afraid to drive. She looked one last time at Kyler then got in. Maxxie glanced in his direction frowned then got in on the passenger side.
Maxxie smiled and watched Maddie leave. God, he thought. you couldn't find girls like that back home. He would like to catch her around anytime.
