Not everyone can be The princess or the hero who
fulfills all their goals and lives happily ever after.
Reality has to balance that out with people who
may not have that kind of happiness.
After all, not Everyone's story has
a neat and tidy plot.
However, that doesn't mean you can't
change how it will end.
/deTH/
noun
The act of dying; the end of life; the total and permanent cessation
of all the vital functions of an organism.
life
/lΔ«f/
noun
The animate existence or period of animate existence of an individual;
the existence of an individual human being or animal.
As you hear this, you must understand the reason for your being here. While I do not regret to inform you this, I figure I must explain it to you regardless. You have died, passed on, kicked the bucket. However you wish to phrase it matters not to me, so long as you understand. The means by which you died, well, you should know that for yourself. After all, it's how you ended up here, in this nothingness. This void which is neither heaven nor hell.
Now, now. Don't give me that look. I understand that dying is not a celebratory matter and that you would feel sad or confused or whatnot. That being said, it doesn't mean I can just bend the rules and give you a second chance to live, now can I?
Ah, actually, there is something I can do. It's something of a game, for lack of better words, that you could take part in and, assuming you come out of it victorious, return to the realm of the living. Ah, well, certain problems arose when we initially tried putting the game to fruition, but I am quite confident that it will have less problems this time around! That being said, I'll need you to wait here a while until enough dead people arrive that are willing to participate. The game will be explained at that time.
The purpose of this game is quite simple actually. You, being dead, want another chance at living. Another chance to make amends, live a fulfilled life, live without regrets. Such is the reason to which you are competing in this game.
The overview is not quite so simple. So, you will be sent back into the world of the living, but your appearance will... deviate from your true appearance. You will be given a temporary body to house your spirit, I enjoy calling them Corpses. Moving along, it is also requested that you provide yourself with a pseudonym for when you go back to the land of the living. It would be quite awkward if someone recognized your name on the news, wouldn't you agree?
The objective is what you will be aiming to complete in order to grant yourself new life. All of you, the players, will be attending the same high school. Ah, yes. I suppose I should have mentioned it, but all of the Corpses are specifically for high school uses. That being said, those of you who are either a bit too young or a bit too old may need to adjust yourselves to fit in to the high school environment. Quite the... miserable place it is. Anyways, moving along. Upon your transport to the school, you will each be given a set of targets. Mind you, your targets will also be other people's targets. Now in order for you to get the mission cleared, you must cause one of your targets to feel enough emotion to release an energy force known as affectio. To do that you must instigate one of the following to happen:
1. Have your target release affectio by enticing them to release high levels of positive emotion that can only be found through experiences of love. That is to say, have your target fall head over heels in love with either yourself or someone else. It is not recommended to assist your target in falling for someone who is also targeting them as that person will instead get the clear.
2. Have your target release affectio by enticing them to release high levels of negative emotion that can only be found through experiences of despair. That is to say, have your target feel utter despair by crushing their very dreams and hopes. You must shred every last bit of happiness that the target possesses in order to receive the clear.
However, I feel that I must note something about how this game works. You see, you have died. Meaning that if you were to suddenly return to the land of the living, there would be a vacant spot for someone's soul. You understand where I am going with this, right? The target whom you cause to release the required affectio will take your place. Your soul will be swapped with the soul of the target. You will take their body, their life, their very existence, and do what you see fit with it. Meanwhile, your target will then suffer eternal nothingness in your place.
An end game can be met with a couple different conditions. First, if a participant of the game causes maiming or otherwise life threatening harm to anyone, be it another player or a target or even just a random passerby, they are eliminated. So, yes, if you plan on taking option two for the affectios, please refrain from causing bodily harm. Second, if all players complete their tasks the games will reach a conclusion.

I would like to express my gratitude to a few people here. First off, there's my good pal Verix. Verix helped a lot in the making of this roleplay, giving me advice and tips. Also, the Character Sheet is really Verix's design, I just edited it to suit this RP. The whole "Darkling" thing belongs to Verix too, so yeah. Verix is awesome.
Second is Scra-sama! Well, Scra doesn't know that they helped me sooo... Anyways, I would look at Scra's roleplays when I made this, basing my template somewhat along theirs.
I can only hope to make such beautiful roleplays as those two! Much, much respect to them.
