“Did you hear that bitch? She asked if I got my hooves buffed by the local goblins. Goblins! Like I’d ever stoop that low. And I mean even if I did, I most certainly wouldn’t let the local goblins touch my babies. Have you seen their claws? Honey, I don’t think so.” Leopold looked up from his phone screen to see Sal nod sagely. That’s what he liked about Sal; he was cute and he listened. But mostly he was cute.

Speaking of attractive people, Leopold had a certain water nymph to see. He went back to his phone and turned abruptly on his hooves, effectively cutting Sal off and causing him to stumble. Without looking up, Leopold continued into the forest, leaving Sal all by his puzzled self.

“Uh-um, so I’ll just be going then?”

“See ya, Sal.” Leopold pocketed his phone in his open cardigan and lit a cigarette. Health warnings be damned, he looked cool as hell. The forest was relatively peaceful, and by that Leo meant loud-mouth birds and gross-ass bugs infested his space and air. Ugh. Why did nature have to be so gross. He frowned down at the bramble. Bluh. He was probably gonna get twigs and shit all stuck up between his toes. And he had just gotten them buffed and trimmed, too. Sigh, the things one does for love.

Leopold hummed to himself, lost in a lover’s reverie, and tilted his head back and exhaled. He watched the puff of smoke drift and curl through the leaf-filtered light. Damn. He should have brought his camera. That would have been such a choice snap for his blog… add a little photoshopped triangle in the center, maybe even an inspirational quote… ‘My brain hums with scraps of poetry and madness‘. Yeah, something like that. So choice.

A high pitched screech tore him from his daydream and Leopold’s ears folded back against his skull. “Jesus!” He gripped one of his throbbing ears and cursed. Stupid fucking oversensitive ears and stupid fucking nature. Why couldn’t Mother Nature teach her creations not to squawk in unsuspecting passerbys’ ears? Is that such a hard concept? He huffed and stubbed out his cigarette on a neighboring tree, tossing it to the floor. What, it’s not like he was going to stub it out with his hoof in the underbrush, that could potentially start a forest fire. He couldn’t let that happen, he was a forest deity after all.

Righting his beanie and tugging his cardigan back into place, Leopold started back on his trek to the lake. He had future-boyfriend stalking to do.

Lendri

The forests of Buffington. Usually a quiet place for a forge walker to relax on her spring break. The metallic creature laying on her side, a slab of wood as she carved a watery flowing design into it. It was peaceful today. Not too hot where she would have to turn her internal temperature down, but not too cold to turn it up. It was a perfect day to get some carving done.

The word 'was' being the word of the day.

The screech of someone's complaining made her jerk in distraction and claw deeply into wood. Ruining it. Her head twitched in irritation. "WHY?!?!" she roared in irritation, her complaint sounding like the roar of a forge's fire being cranked up to high. Her relaxing day after yesterday's indecent with a particularly dickish landlord had made her cross. Smoke puffed out of of her mouth as she torched the wooden slab into ash in an instant.

Lendri muttered to herself as she stood up on all fours, hiking the dufflebag on her back. "Maybe the lake will be a bit more peaceful. Seems like everyone here doesn't know how to be quiet enough for a girl to think." she said, looking up at the trees with the feeling of being watched. She dulled herself out so as not to reflect light and blind anyone else that may be wandering through the forest. Something that she hoped wouldn't happen.

Willow

The smell of something burning hit her nose like a ton of bricks, making her sit up abruptly in bed.

"Oh crap, Granny's trying to cook again!" she leapt from the bed wearing only a large t-shirt and a pair pink flowered boxer shorts.

She swiftly slid down the stairs banister, "Granny!" she made a dash into the doorway of the kitchen.

Maury, Granny's tiger was laying under the kitchen table like any old house cat would, Granny turned around with a skillet in her hand and big grin on her face.

"Oh good morning Willow would you like some breakfast?" the skillet in her hand had smoke wafting from the now burnt beyond recognition food.

Willow rubbed the bridge of her nose, "Granny... what are you doing?" she sighed in exasperation.

"Oh well.. I tried to cook up some pineapple." Granny looked sadly at the burnt mass in her pan.

"Graaaannny you can't fry up pineapple like bacon and once it gets to the point where you set off the smoke detector it's pretty much inedible.... Wait what else did you put in there?", there was a strong smell coming from the burnt food that made Willow's eye well up.

Granny's eyes thinned into slits as smiled really big, "Oh you noticed, I decided to throw some Brussels sprouts in there for extra vitamins."

Willow swallowed at the thought of eating such a combination, honestly she didn't know sometimes how she had been able to survive to the age of sixteen with her grandmother's idea's for food concoctions. Perhaps she just learned at a young age she was better off eating a bowl of cold cereal. After a bit of clean up and the disposal of another new skillet. Willow got dressed and and decided to go out and spend some time down town.

It was Spring Break after all so why not enjoy it, after Granny was settled on the couch with some of the cats, Maury and her knitting, Willow headed out the door. It was a pretty decent spring day but still a little on the chilly side it made Willow appreciate the fact that she typically wore a hoody. It took her a little while to walk since Granny's cottage was really close to the forest.

"Maaan I can't wait till Granny gets the Vac's tank refilled." when she stepped into down town she knew where her first stop would be.

She walked into "El Ray's Tacoria" walking up to the counter she gave Ray a big smile. Ray was Minotaur he wore a loin cloth, with a polo shirt that clearly was too small for him. Accompanied by a red apron and a red trucker hat that was emblazoned with a cartoon taco in a wrestling mask.

"Hey Ray can I get a churro to go, Granny tried to feed me burnt pineapple and brussels sprouts?" Willow started to dig through her pockets.

A breath a steam escaped around the ring Ray's nose, his hooves clacked on the floor behind the counter as he headed back to get Willow's order. As she stood there waiting on her order she looked around at the decor of the restaurant. There was an ironic black velvet painting of a matador that hung on one of the walls that always made Willow internally giggle a bit. Her thoughts were brought back to food when she heard the clack of hooves once again.

"Here's your order Willow. I'm pretty glad your grandmother stinks at cooking. You're one of my best customers.", said Ray in a thick Spanish accent.

He handed her the churro that was wrapped neatly in wax paper, "I'm just glad I got in here today before the lunch rush, anyway thanks again I'll see you later Ray." she took a bite as she headed out the door, her next stop was the book store to see if they had anything new in the spell book section. By the time she made it to the door of the store her churro was no more, pushing open the door there was a ring of bells as the door opened.

"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Crabapple." she said with a smile and half hearted wave at the old couple. Mrs. Crabapple smiled at Willow, as her clock husband glared. Willow knew that Mr. Crabapple was always a little on the cranky side, and she couldn't help but think he might be a little less moody if someone set his time back a few hundred years.

Willow started going up and down isles of old dusty books, turning a corner she noticed a girl from school. It almost made her stop in her tracks, but she managed to not appear too awkward and detoured to another isle. However that wasn't much better, cause she ran right into a guy that was looking through books as well.

"Oh crap I'm sorry." she said then she realized who it was. "Oh no it's Cassius...", she said in her head.

Running fingers over each title, I scanned for satires that weren't nonsensical like Naked Lunch – written by someone who was constantly high or insane. Gnawing on my bottom lip, I attempted to recall what I had and hadn't already read before realizing my lovely phone, dubbed Nexy, entailed a wonderful list of books I want to hoard. I cackled to myself tapping through my phone for the list and restarted my search for reading material once more.

With my focus narrowed down to the different titles, I didn't notice I was plowed into; until I was staring at the musty ceiling and books were falling from their haphazard stacks. Heart pounding, I blocked my vulnerable face from the impact of hardcover books that could kill. After a few moments, I realized my life wasn't endangered, peeking through my fingers I saw something out of fantasy novels or my life. The displaced books hung in midair. I always forget magic is a tool I could use to make living easier, so the only time I actually use it is on accident. Woops.

I sighed in relief and laid on the floor for a few seconds before imagining hands pushing the books back into piles. Disembodied hands flickered out of existence. God do they creep me out. I have nightmares about disembodied hands attacking me. I shuddered and up-righted myself, noticing the plower overer to be the lovely, uh...I know her name...damn...she's the one with the grandma, yeah! And the pineapples! I mentally patted myself on the back and grinned at the female. “Dude, no harm no foul,” I replied to her apology. Belatedly added “Willow!” to the end of the refutation to her apology, gives me ethos for remembering names and blah blah blah.

Okay, what do mutual student going acquaintances say to each other when one literally bumps into the other....come on brain don't be awkwarder... “Soo, how's your break been going?” I asked, running fingers through my hair. My fingers got caught in a knot, so appropriately, I flailed a little. I need a haircut or a hair tie.

Image"Ugh...." Malik sat back again the soft cushions of his lamp. The place seemed small on the outside, hell it was a brass lamp stuffed in an antique store, or so it was the last time he was summoned. He didn't know what year it was, the last time he was summoned was in 1989, so he had a stack of comics, and a Nintendo 64 with Mario 64. He'd beaten and rebeaten too many times. As much as he wanted to be free, he wished some one would rub his lamp so he could at least get some new games for the next few centuries or so. It took him years just to get electricity...

He dropped the worn controller and stood up.

He wondered how much the world has changed in the last 25 years. He wondered who was going to be the one to rub his lamp, who his next master would be...he wondered if this next one would set him free....

"Psh." He scoffed. Humans were selfish creatures...they thought of nothing but themselves...they'd never wish him free.

He looked over to his large bookshelp and spotted Arabian Nights...

"Bullshit."

The light peeking under the window shutters hits my face yet again, another morning in Bluffington it seems. As i wake up, the soft feeling of afterglow reminds me of the events that took place in this subterranean living room. These bottles of red vice scattered around the room bring me the realization of that dry and painful feeling. I do envy those who suffer not of these headaches. However she makes it all up. A tender dryad, lost in the woods of partying and cheap liquor, stumbles to this masquerade of mine. I guess the drinks, the drugs and the musk of love enthralled her, and we ended up here. She feels familiar somehow, not as inexperienced as i thought.

This room bears no memories in my mind, however. Whoever lives here has left hours ago, leaving us unconscious on this red velvet sofa. This architechture is fancy, too fancy for a middle-class resident. I have an assumption that the one who let us in was a regular at my gatherings. Now that i think about it, i do feel a tad bit more sore than usual. I guess he had his fun too.

I grab a bottle from the floor, strange, it still has something in it. The bottle bears the label "Rosier Distillery". Heh, i guess it was considerate of me to drink my own brainchild. Rosier, it's a long time i have used that name, my surname. Father always said i would be one of the great demons, one with the others.

I grab my clothes from the floor, along with a small trophy from her. She won't need them, and i am sure this is not the first time she has lost them. In return i leave my trademark withered, dark rose beside her. Once i am done with the formalities, i proceed to step outside. I do wonder what the spring brings to this sleepy town...

“Oswald.” I always like the smell of books and humidity. Somewhat bittersweet in a way. Knowing how the humidity is slowly corroding every page while at the same time creating such a great environment to grow for others. “Oswald..” It's easy to feel comfortable in this Hobbit-like living room I am lying in. Personal memo nr. 132: Remember to ask the doctor for his furniture store. I hadn't felt this relaxed in months. The right pillow, the internationals and a bear. Utter paradise. “Oswald?” When were the internationals this year anyway? I still have to check the dates. I hope I can get aways with taking one or two free days. Na'vi better kick those russian fudge's this year. Ever since the globalization of the newbie leagues. It's become impossible to play a single match without them
sons of Putin ruining ingame communication... “Oswald!” Startled, my mind suddenly returns to reality. The doc was sitting on a sofa in front of me. She was in her late thirties and was wearing a very professional pullover that made her look both attractive and distanced at the same time. She's already had three incidents with patients unable to continue therapy, but she keeps doing the same mistake over and over. Somehow, I feel like I'm not the only crazy person in the room. Finally, I answered in a sovereign and courteous voice.
“Excuse me doc, I guess I lost myself in my thoughts. What did you say last?”
Somewhere between perplexed and aghast. She resumed. “I was asking how you felt doing your writing exercises.” A clear and light-hearted smile, unfitting for this situation but an honest response to my inner senses. “I guess,... it felt like writing a fictive story about somebody else's life. In some way or another, it's become harder to differentiate between my own personal experiences and those given to me by god.” Did I failed to mention the Doc is a specialist sent by the Vat to keep an eye on me? Fairly reasonable for guys with Greatest Hits such as: The Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades and The Thirty Year war. To be quite honest, I've grown to see the Doc as a sister rather than anything else. I was clearly her first assignment for the last year or so and she's been nothing if not professional during my visits every month.

...only complaint, it always took her some five to ten minutes to reply to anything I said. Kind of annoying, but what kind of sister isn't?

“I guess that's it for today” After validating my ticket and sending my off with the cordialities every of her patients receive. I was finally off for the day. I went by my usual chinese shack and bought what should be defined as 3 days worth of food. My house was an old 2 story suburban home with clear late victorian elements like a tower on the east side of the house facing some woods. It wasn't very well kept, but it had good karma. The lady I'd bought it from had only asked to be buried in the same grounds next to her husband and I didn't mind having silent neighbors.
“Good afternoon, Bernie! Did you miss me?” The soft breeze of a late afternoon made the leaves on the tree covering the front east side of the porch twirl slightly. After getting half a pack of napkins, a cover for me not to get cold and my laptop, I went back outside and sat with Bernie on my back.
The moment my neck connected to his trunk, a goofie like voice jumped into my head like a thunder turning sand into crystal. “AL!”
“How was your day, brother?” “Shut up and start your toy! The game's about to start!” He was right, the Latin American Championships had preliminary rounds today. “Sunova!” Deos Lox, the best columbian team had been rolled against Terminacion 21, Peru's best shot at winning the finales. Lucky for us, the game wasn't starting for another ten minutes. Bernie, my pet Oak had been introduced to the virtual gaming league I had been a fan of as soon as I'd bought the house a year earlier. For some reason, he was able to get into my head just as much as I was capable of getting into his awareness. Our greatest tradition being me sitting next to him watching games together till it get's late. Bernie had developed quite a relation to the outside world in these months. First, it was a clear addiction to a show called Will and Grace, but then I showed him Lost's pilote episode... The month we watched that show will always be my Vietnam.

Hadeem

Hadeem stood there and was surprised as a Jinn came out of the lamp. Hadeem then just smiled and began to laugh. "Well I just wanted to see if I could get a genie to come out of the lamp, and apparently it did. Don't worry, I'll set you free as soon as I think of the first two wishes." He began to think over what to wish for. He knew he was being a bit cruel for not freeing the Jinn right away, he was going to spend the two wishes in a stupid way anyway, but he had always wondered what it'd be like being the master. "Okay, well I'm going to wish for a golden goblet to drink from and maybe an ornate sword to put above my fireplace. For my third wish I will set you free, for I know how boring it can get to be trapped in a lamp. Oh and also, please just give me what I wished for without trying to twist my words in any way, I am freeing you after all." He was still smiling, today has been a great moving day.

The forest, for once, wasn't a place that was as peaceful as she thought it would be. Random screaming and the screeching of birds annoyed her and gave her a large headache for the day. "Just a day where I just wanted relax." She muttered to herself as she walked passed the lake. If anything the mermaid there was a nice enough person for her to wave at. She had talked to her every now and again, but seeing that she could boil the lake and turn it into soup made her somewhat careful of falling in.

Lendri walked passed the lake in peace, soon returning to pavement that often became hot enough to cook eggs under her feet and claws. The sound of clopping hooves caught his attention over the rustling of the trees and bearable chirping of birds, the hooves of a satyr. One that he had seen before around and sometimes at the lake as well when she was there. Not really out of the ordinary, but seeing him soaked to the bone was something that she didn't think was all that normal.

"You go for a swim recently?" She asked, walking past him for a moment before heating herself to dry whatever water was on him.

"Well I just wanted to see if I could get a genie to come out of the lamp, and apparently it did. Don't worry, I'll set you free as soon as I think of the first two wishes." Malik arched an eyebrow. " Seriously?" Malik honestly didn't believe a word of it, or rather couldn't. Djinn's had the ability to sense good people from bad. This man didn't seem too bad... or at least he wasn't dishonest. "Okay, well I'm going to wish for a golden goblet to drink from and maybe an ornate sword to put above my fireplace. For my third wish I will set you free, for I know how boring it can get to be trapped in a lamp. Oh and also, please just give me what I wished for without trying to twist my words in any way, I am freeing you after all."

Malik looked at him for a long time. Waiting for the punchline. " You're serious right now. Infinite possibilities and you want a goblet and a sword...for decoration?" He said, pretty much ignoring the freeing him bit. People always say that and then witness his magic, then that freeing him wish went straight to hell. He shook his head. "By the way, We don't do that on purpose. This is Magic and it comes at a price. The bigger the wish, the bigger the cost." He said and rubbed the back of his neck. "You sure about this?"

Hadeem's expression was quite serious when he said "Well, some Jinn might not do it on purpose, but I usually do. They all deserve it for trapping Jinn in lamps. Also, I am sure about this, if I wanted something good I'd get it for myself. Also, you just admitted the bigger the wish the bigger the price, that kind of deters a big wish." He returned to his normal smile once he was done talking. "The reasoning for my wishes is that I am a collector of older objects, my house is full of them."

"Well some Djinn might not do it on purpose but I usually do. They all deserve it for trapping Djinn in lamp," Malik couldn't help a chuckle, he was right about that. "Also I am sure about this, if I wanted something good, I'd get it for myself. Also, you just admitted the bigger the wish the bigger the price, that kind of deters a big wish," He said and Malik smirked, Ifrits...Figures he'd understand. Humans never quite got that part. They never heeded the warnings.

"The reasoning for my wishes is that I am a collector of older objects, my house is full of them." Malik figured that much, why else would he purchase the lamp. His last master picked it up.

"Alright." Malik sighed."Well, I can only do one wish at a time and I can't just make physical things appear out of thin air, it has to already exist, this is Magick we are talking about here. I have alter things in order to get you the items that you want." Malik ran his hand through his obsidian hair. "Since you want these item, I have to make it so that you acquire it, I can't create them. As you may know. I have the power to manipulate time and space, Not matter itself." He explained and with that, he bowed.

"I am Djinn Malik Fahrad, And your wish is my command." He said and looked up.

"So where do we start?"

I didn't pay much attention to the population growth within the musty store until I heard the sweet shrills coming from the front of the store. I whirled around and grinned broadly at Willow, hair flopping into my face to obscure my perfect vision. “Welp, I hear the delightful screeching of my arch nemesis so I'm off to go piss him off some more!” I bid my goodbyes to the fellow teenager witch, completely dismissing the chilling sensation experienced moments ago into the “random things that don't make sense but are probably due to adolescent magic being haywire” pile.

Spinning on my worn heels, I snatched the cheap but interest-quipping novel (not that cheap isn't also a wonderful quality for a book to have, but I digress) from the shelf it resettled itself upon when my momentary romp with the wooden, scuffed floorboards. The torn cover seduced me with it's block font and blindingly yellow everything. So, logically, I stopped walking, leaned against a conveniently placed bookcase, and flipped through the pages. Quickly stumbling over the words that were in English but seemed like a different version of English only spoken on Jupiter, my face contoured into a mixed look of horror, amusement, and confusion. My eyes, which were a lovely shade of dark brown if you wanted to know, narrowed in sudden determination to finish this potentially convoluted novel and cause other people suffering along the way.

Rubbing my closed eyes because rubbing open eyes would hurt obviously, I meandered my way over to the cash register, which was maned by the lovely Sal, a calm, shy faun who was all frazzled up by the shouting of my favorite person in the world. The last time I encountered my favorite person in the world, he ended up slapping me with the strength of a butterfly until I started rolling around on the forest floor laughing my guts out. Which, in turn, caused him to stomp away in a huff.

“Sal! How's my favorite cashier doing and my lovely friend Leo?” I smiled my dazzling dimpled smile that made me look more goofy than usual while slinging an arm over Leo's damp T-shirt giving him a friendly squeeze.

“Went for a quick swim, huh? Welp now you've ruined your lovely shirt. Hope it wasn't expensive,” I smirked at the short goat-man, who on closer inspection was flushed with fury. Eh, self-preservation is for losers and those who get more than three hours of sleep but that's besides the point.

“Al-alright, well other than running into that pole....oh! Did you want to purchase something? Or do you need help looking for a book?” the faun inquired before adjusting his over-sized glasses.

I handed him the book, Naked Lunch, and replied “Nah I got this place mapped out on the back of my hand, just wanted to procure this book.”

Haven finally made her way to town and found herself wondering in a somewhat crowded bookstore.

The little bell chimed alerting the patrons and the employees of her entry.

She looked about the store and all of its supernatural customers and smiled lightly to herself.

She would never seen such a thing in OtherWorld, She'd never see any of these people.

She'd be stuck wondering, starving her wanderlusting spirit of it's cultural cravings.

She passed the customer, service desk, eying the faun at the desk.

She could feel her full red lips widening at the so very common conversation with the not so common species.

Catching herself staring, she looked away, but not before her foot decided to kick something...or someone and sent her sailing into the carpeted floor with a loud crash, as she tried to stop the descent by grabbing on to the table full of expertly displayed bestsellers beside her, only to have it crash down with her.

Haven's chin hit the floor and she saw stars for a moment.

Some Fae Princess she was...

She got to her knees and rubbed her chin.

"Owwww." She moaned/whined, eyes watering from the impact.

"Way to make an entrance, Haven..." she groaned inwardly. "Sorry," She told the store, sheepishly before she felt a bit of moisture on her chin and sighed as she gazed at the shimmery red liquid on her fingers.

Haven sighed. "Perfect." She said and began gathering the books.

Hadeem thought over everything that Malik said before responding. "Well Malik, I must say that it is nice to meet you. I am Hadeem, Ifrit lord, or should I say ex-lord. As for where we should start, I wish for a golden, ruby encrusted goblet. Rubies have always been my favorite jewel." he said. He grabbed Malik's lamp and stuffed it into a bag, as he planned to still keep the lamp after he freed Malik.

Behind his eyes, played a scene. He watched it unfold and opened his eyes.

"Alright. We have to find a Faery." He said. "And start from there. Don't worry, she's cute. A bit klutzy though." He commented. "So How do you like Teleporting?"

If it wasn't for the fact that the sound of falling books catching her attention, the forge-walker probably would have continued to read about the firey underworld that her kind were from. A visible brow raise on her metalic helm of a face cropped up as she wandered over to the site of the crash. "You alright there?" she said as she started picking up and stacking the books back where they were. "I don't think it's wise to bleed over all the books if you're looking to make an impression." Her heat lessened as she stacked the books and lifted the fae up on her feet.

She stood back on her four feet, standing about as tall as the woman she helped up. "What brings you to this place anyway?" She asked, looking around the shop to update herself on her surroundings. It seemed that it was starting to get a bit crowded in her favorite bookstore. She sighed to herself, remembering why she sometimes disliked spring break.

"You alright there?"
Haven looked up to see a strange being towering before her. Haven's eyes were wide with a thin smile. "I don't think it's wise to bleed over all the books if you're looking to make an impression." The being said, heat radiating from her body, but the temperature dropped as the creature helped her restack the books. " Sorry, I'm a bit of a klutz in this realm." She said, she felt safe enough to speak of her heritage to this creature, clearly she wasn't a human. Although the metal, it wore made her a bit weak but not enough to notice. It then helped her to her feet and Haven smiled. "What brings you to this place anyway?"

"I just entered this realm a few days ago and I just wanted to look around." Haven said with a shrug. It wasn't a complete lie, she was escaping to this realm so she wouldn't have to deal with any of the responsibilities she had in OtherWorld, She knew eventually, someone, Probably the Lady would find her, but until this.

"I'm Haven, by the way." She said and extended her hand, a custom she saw humans do a lot, when meeting someone

"Hmmm, cool. Haven't seen one in a while, well lets go then. I'm perfectly fine with teleporting, though some peoples methods of doing so can feel horrible. I'm going to trust that yours doesn't." Hadeem said with a smile.
