I swiveled around on my moderately uncomfortable desk chair, eating mash potatoes for breakfast. Ignoring the loud, Chinese yelling from the kitchen, I hunch over my mash potatoes and take another bite. No one's angry in the household, my family members simply enjoy their voices and crank the volume to maximum. Yawning, I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and lurched out of the chair to lay sprawled across the carpeted floor.

Of course, this is the moment my mother checked up on me. I could hear her sigh and her eyes rolling over my laziness. “You should go outside; you haven't left the house since break started. Did you do your SAT practice? What about your homework?” she questioned rapidly.

I groaned into the weird light brown colored carpet. I kept groaning until she sighed again and left, not closing the door behind her. Damn.

Although most of her questions were irritating and would be avoided, going outside appealed to my sun deprived skin. I need my vitamin D. Nah, I wanted to hide in the lovely old bookstore in downtown Bluffington. All those old books and the old cat that lounges over stacks of books made my heart swell with contentment. And we're fresh out of ice cream, so I had no purpose staying a hermit if the ice cream levels at home base were depleted.

Rolling onto my back, I jumped up and quickly dressed myself in comfy jeans and my favorite oversized blue sweater that my grandma despised. Stuffing my pockets with my wallet and phone, I was ready to face the day. Or not. Socks and shoes are important components for readiness and facing days. So I wasted half an hour finding two socks and my grandfather-old oxford shoes – the only feet protectors I owned.

Lets skip over the fifteen minute walk from my home to the downtown area, which I avoided eye contact with everyone and anyone so I didn't have to wave or flash my smile-turned-grimace. Ducking into the old used/rare bookstore, I grinned at the elderly couple before diving into the stacks of books to find more reading material. Mrs. Crabapple was a lovely white-haired dragon and Mr. Crabapple was a crotchety old animated clock (they prefer being called zorigami, but I have no clue how to pronouce that).

"Alice! Your shift is over, but can you run this shipment over to the Crabapple couple's bookstore?" My father called to me from the cash register. After putting down the broom, I walked over quickly and took the bag of old books from his hand, and nodded.

"Yes Father." I said and was almost out the door, when he added something that made me turn back around.

"Make sure to get some books to read from the store, and try to be more social. Not just with ghosts, either." I was shocked, but nodded again and was out the door in my red dress and a black ribbon in my hair.

As I walked at a fast pace to the store in about 5 minutes, I thought about the events that brought me here, but soon I walked inside and gave the package to the elderly couple consisting of a dragon and a zorigami. "Here you go." I said quietly, and since they already paid for the package before I had delivered it, I began looking around at the old books.

Willow

It was almost like everything went in slow motion, the books flying, Cassius being practically quarterbacked to the floor. There was a swirl of magic, as the books were kept from landing on top of him and burying him along with the impact. It didn't startle Willow, that was a common startle reaction for witches. However that didn't make her feel any better for plowing him down, she stood there wide eyed 'a deer in the headlights' expression as she watched the scene unfold.

"Dammit! Willow don't just stand there looking like an idiot! Say something!", she mentally screamed at herself.

As he righted himself once he realized it was just a clumsy girl and not a crazed mass murderer on a rampage. She could see his lips moving, but all she could manage to really understand was "Willow!".

"Oh Gods.... he really knows my name?", the thought finally pulled her out of her mental funk enough to hear him ask how her break had been.

She swallowed as a streak of red started to cross her cheeks, "Uuuummm yeah..." she had to pull herself together.

With a look down at her feet instead of at the cute move he made with running his hand through his hair, she could feel her anxiety drop... a little.

"O..o...other than m...m..my Grandmother's frightening food concoctions it's been, pretty n..n..nice. Nnn..no school ttt...to worry about looking like an idiot...is...refreshing..." "Wait... what the hell did I just say... Gods I sound like a dork."

She managed to glance back up at him again, "Still...I am really sorry... I'm... just a huge clutz.... and I totally didn't mean to like.... tackle you."

Willow tucked a random piece of her fly away hair behind her ear, then pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose righting them on her eyes. She couldn't believe she was actually talking to him, and that he was actually talking to her. She had known him, or well known of him since they were young. But she had always been the type as a child to be chased away crying by bullies, or to stay hidden from other people so she didn't get teased. However as a young girl grows and starts noticing... or being attracted to others. Cassius had always sort of stood out to Willow all through junior high, but especially in high school, she had just never mustered up the courage to actually say something to him. She had spent years telling herself that he wasn't even aware of her existence. So the fact that he knew her name came as kind of a shock.

"S...s..so, you come to Crabapple's allot?", she asked feeling like there had been a long awkward pause when it had actually only been a few seconds since she had apologized for the second time. Even though she knew the answer to this question, she had seen Cassius sitting somewhere reading for years. While everyone else buzzed around, he was typically somewhere reading something. With Crabapple's being a book store and one with a menagerie of titles and genre's some being quite old it would be safe to assume, that someone that read allot would at least come into Crabapple's once or twice.

She herself read allot, granted she typically did more skimming then actual buying in this store, she always loved coming in finding a corner and reading something. The smell of the old books, was always welcoming to Willow but it was more of a treat for herself than a regular occurrence for her to come into the old couples store. Maybe he frequented the store more often then she did, needless to say she had never bumped into him before in here.

Asmodeus

The air of this town never changes, it always has that strange aura to it. No matter what time of year it was, you always knew you were in here just by smelling the air. I am certainly glad these places exist, out of human cognition. This hidden world of ours seems to grow ever more hidden by the looks of it. Showing your true colours without being screamed at or chased with pitchforks is a refreshing change from the past.

As i stroll downtown i spot a familiar store: Crabapple's. The bookstore everyone knows and loves, filled with books of lost magicks and secrets. The owners are a perfect example of a strange couple. I used to go there, read all those stories they wrote about us, about our existence. Books, books keep me sane on the flow of time. Being alive for this long makes you forget important revelations about yourself. I read books just to stay aware of the current time period.

The Crabapples are a friendly bunch, even if they realize my nature. It's not my fault that i live the high life with them, my siblings, some of which have their presence even in this neck of the woods. I feel like reading again, so i proceed to enter the store. I recieve a cheerful greeting from the missus, and i respond to her with a tender gesture. The smell of printing paper fills my lungs. I proceed to walk towards the adult section of the store, but can't help but notice the round form of a woman somewhere amongst the rows of shelves. I backtrack and witness her talking to someone on the floor. I can't help but snicker at the sight of that peach-shaped beauty, but i regain my thoughts soon, as i see the books she dropped. Spellbooks, a witch from the looks of it, not even a mature one. I do remember the last time i publicly approached teenagers, it was not fun explaining that to the police. I proceed to read some adult books while keeping an eye on the situation. Who knows, maybe she might turn out to be an alluring acquaintance.

I nodded sagely, listening to Willow's stuttering and stumbling about grandmother-made food and school worries, no pressures, um, appearances. Yeah. That. At a teenagers' stage of development, they have an imaginary audience that jeers and criticizes their every move, but in all reality it is in fact imaginary. Most teenagers are too worried about their own appearances to pelt other teens with insults. Ah the joys of Psych 101 at community college, giving me logic and labels for adolescent troubles. Okay okay, focus on what the person is saying. Focus.

Oh, she's apologizing again. "Still...I am really sorry... I'm... just a huge clutz.... and I totally didn't mean to like.... tackle you." While she fidgeted and adjusted her glasses, I wondered why she was nervous. It's not as though I was a hulking Godzilla about to swallow her whole. Gross. Cannibalism. Well, it would be cannibalism if I was Godzilla, but still gross.

"Not a problem, dear. I mean I've had my fair share of running into people and walls and a tree one time...Although, I'm pretty sure the tree moved so that doesn't really count does it?" I trailed off, pensively reminiscing. Nature doesn't like me as much as I like it. Probably because I set the lake on fire on accident -- stressing the on accident part -- but none of the lake people seem to want to forgive and forget. Whatever.

"S...s..so, you come to Crabapple's allot?" the teenager inquired looking positively uncomfortable. I had that effect on people, so I shrugged it off mentally.

"I come around once in a while, mostly when my hoard of books run...ah what's the word...dry! Yeah, that," I rambled before sneezing; eyes watered. Ugh, I hated allergies and dust. Especially dust mites, those creepy gross looking microscopic demons. "Plus Mrs. Crabapple gives me twenty percent off on my books. She's a sweetheart," I belatedly added.

A chill ran through me even though I worn my comfortable, cornflower blue sweater. The old store probably had a draft, but no, the chill wasn't from a sudden drop in Fahrenheit. It was a more creeper-alert-be-wary chill. "Ever get that weird feeling you're being watch?" I asked this clichéd phrase, glancing around in paranoia. You can never be too young to be paranoid.

I began to bring the books to the register at the bookstore, and got out my money. There was some purple-skinned guy, who seemed to be a demon judging from the horns on his head, plus two other teens I saw around. I didn't pay much attention to them as I paid for my books and walked out the door after thanking Mrs. Crabapple.

I began to walk back to the antique shop owned by my father, and walked inside the store with my books. Father asked me if I had been social, and I nodded. He didn't seem to believe me, but Father didn't ask questions. My shift began after I put my books in my room above the living room turned into a store specializing in witchcraft and antiques, and I began to work again. Making sure to sweep the floor and dust every nook and cranny when there wasn't a customer at the cash register. However, my shift ended and I was sent upstairs to work on my reading about necromancy after I got some food from the kitchen.

I munched on my bread with butter and sipped my grape juice as I read a book called "How to Have Zombies do Household Chores", and took some notes on it. Well, I also had some school studying to do, but I could do that later. Right then, I could just study my path in magic I wanted to take.

Hadeem
Image

Hadeem had finally finished placing his possessions around his house, and was quite pleased. Finally moved in, time to protect the valuables. He began to go over to every window and cast spells of protection on them and traps, the traps mostly being fire related. He then cast one on the door as well so anyone who opened the door while he wasn't around wold get trapped in a flaming circle. Satisfied with his protective measures, he headed out to look around town. He just casually walked along the sidewalk, maybe giving a few people he passed a wave or a hello. Eventually reached downtown and began to browse shops. He first went to the bookstore called Crabapple's and bought a couple of older books for him to read one of these nights. Walking out, he looked around and saw an antique shop. Entering it he began to browse. After finding a few items that wouldn't look bad in his collection, he spotted Malik's lamp, though of course he didn't know it yet. He inspected it and his first urge was to destroy it due to his own times spent in one, but came up with a better idea. "Wonder if I can get a Jinn to come out of it." He said with a small laugh. He reached over to it and rubbed it a couple times.

Having grown bored, Malik sat back in his cot made of fine Arabic linen, he commenced to reading the same comics he had since his last summoning.

He felt a surge in his power, powers that lay dorment so long that he hardly remembered what it felt like and with that he was free...

******

One might expect when rubbing the lamp of a Djinn that a large blue skinned ethereal like creature would appear.

One would not expect a moody looking teenaged boy with a hoodie and baggy jeans and a standoffish expression on his face to appear out of the smoke.

"Congradulations, you've found my lamp." He said dryly as if an amateur was receiting Shakespeare.

"You get three wishes, and with those three wishes I am yours to command." He said, as the smoke cleared and he got a good look at his new Master....

"Aww Hell." Malik groaned. Malik had great power, he could alter time, warp universes, all sorts of incredible things and he had great wisdom as well, he knew what stood in front of him.

Kin.

" Seriously?!" He said throwing up his arms. "Of all the....Grrmmmm..." He palmed his forehead and ran his hand down his face.

"Why did you rub my lamp?"

“You go for a swim recently?” An inquiring voice sounded from behind, sending a spark of tension through Leo’s shoulders.

“Oh, you must think you’re real cute,” he said with a harsh snort, “’Did I go for a swim’ Ha! I’ll have you know I work very hard to perfect my stylishly casual look every morning and that’s not something you just-just throw away by jumping in a goddamn lake.” Leo’s voice cracked with emotion, “My life is so hard and no one understands.”

That not-quite-campfire smell returned and before Leopold could complain, he was hit with a scalding blast of heat. “W-what do you think you’re doing,” Leo shrilled at the walking furnace, “Oh, no, absolutely not. If this mud dries it will be even harder to wash out!” He huffed indignantly, lifting his nose to the air, “Not to mention the shrinkage that could occur if these are not properly handled,” The ‘were you raised in a barn’ was left unsaid.

“Now why don’t you go fuck off before you set something important on fire.” With a huff and a twirl Leopold clomped off across the road towards his apartment building. Fucking Forge-Walkers, think they can solve everything. A bunch of hot heads is what they are, clunking about with their hulking mass and raging temperature. Bah.

The floorboards creaked as Leopold navigated the narrow halls, his clomps and frustrated grumblings muffled by the plaster walls. Leo reached for his apartment’s doorknob, eager to save his damp clothing, only to find it resisted. Sal must have locked up before work, the overcautious deer. Leo dug in his wet cardigan pocket, hunting for his keys, only to find his fingers found nothing, “No, no nononono,” Oh, gods show him some mercy. Where were his damned keys? “Sal, you in there?” He called through the door, still futilely turning the handle. When no answer came, Leo jiggled the doorknob violently one last time before thumping his horns against the door in defeat. Gods dammit! His keys must have fallen out in that accursed lake. Freaking mermaids. There was absolutely no way he was going back into the forest to find them, but he certainly wasn’t going to stand around and watch the mud dry.

Leopold stomped back out of the apartment building, rushing towards Crabapple’s and grumbling over the injustice served to him by the universe. Hopefully Sal was still there. Sal better fucking be there, there will be hell to pay if Leo is forced to scour the town for him in such a tragic state. Thank the gods the bookstore wasn’t all that far from the apartment, only a few windows away from Reynolds’ Records, actually. Leopold’s angry trot did not slow as he threw open the doors of Crabapple’s, murderous gaze zeroing in on the startled faun behind the counter, “Sal! I need your key.”

Lendri

If there was anything that annoyed the hell out of Lendri the most that didn't end in her breaking faces, it was those that thought they were better then everyone else. Usually, she had fairly good relations with the local satyrs. She was often invited to bonfire parties and such and given food every now and again. Or maybe they were fauns....either way they never treated her with the respect she gave them.

She huffed, an obvious raise of her brow. "Excuse me for going a kindness. Maybe I should find an ice nymph to freeze you next time. Jerk." She said in a matter-of-fact tone before heading toward downtown. For her, being downtown was always something of a mixed bag. Depending on the people here, it was either looks of fear or a simple greeting like old neighbors. This time was the lucky one, no one ran from her in fear , though small children ran up to her wanting to pet her. "Momma! Momma! Can we keep it?" One child said as he pulled at the end of her tail, she looked back, smiling to herself as she lifted the child and plopped him on her back. "Kayle! Don't be rude, she's not a pet!" The mother scolded as she lifted the child into her arms. "I'm so sorry Lendri. I thought I taught him some manners." Lendri smiled and waved her hand in casual dismal. "It's fine. I don't mind really. He can ride on my back any time he wants, he just caught me off guard is all." The mother smiled and child waved at her as they went on with their day. It was spring break for the younger students this time of year after all. More situations would arise like this.

She made her way toward Crabapple's. A bookstore she adored since arriving to town and the couple there always welcomed her and she sated Mr.Crabapple's inquaries with questions about her kind. Harmless questions and it always started a conversation with them. She had a decent relationship with them, so wandering inside the bookstore and reading in place wasn't something that was out of the ordinary. But running into an angry satyr again that she had tried to help was something that...wasn't intended. She muttered something under her breath before heading over toward the mythology section, satifiying her need for knowledge. "Afternoon Sal. Hope your morning was decent." She greeted as she peered over the shelves, crouching on her hind legs for the books on the upper shelves.

Asmodeus

As i struggle to control my blood flow, i feel like my cover is blown. I back away behind the shelves and stuff the sticky book regarding lizardfolk erotica back to the shelf. Maybe i can get at close range some other time. That butt won't stop haunting me. Some people would say that i should get my mind out of the gutter. I feel like my mind is the gutter.

I spot a strange metal creature pulsating with heat amongst the shelf. My mind fills me with confusion as i try to comprehend the creature before me. Man, the creatures of this world are a gift that keeps on giving. Like that Ettin back in Norway, he was a blast. After some observation of it's shiny forms, i decide to back away.

A shout catches my magical demon ears, a young voice. I peek behind a shelf to see an angry faun shouting at a scared faun. Psh, creatures of the woods are always fighting aren't they. The angry one has a nice frame though, not to mention rather long horns..

Lendri

Another brow raise from the Forge-Walker. "This realm?" She mused as she tilted her head to the side. "You're one of those Fae I've read about every now and again huh?" She shrugged, hiking herself up on her hind legs into a sitting position. She was a lot bigger like this, her head nearly touching the ceiling, she was so large. "Lendri. Local Forge-Walker." She said, reaching for Haven's extended hand and giving it a quick shake.

"You've entered this realm in a fine place, I must say. A good number of the residents here are of the supernautural type. From ghosts, to treants to faries of all kinds and much more." Lendri's voice was slightly monotone, though with a hint of thoughtfulness, like that of a kind grandmother in old age, but not as old sounding. She plopped back on all fours, shifting her bag on her back as she made her way to the door. "If you'd like, I can show you around downtown and help you at least get your bearings."

"This realm?" Said the creature. Haven smiled a bit. "You're one of those Fae I've read about every now and again huh?" Haven had to look up when as the creature lifted up, she nodded to her statement. "Lendri. Local Forge-Walker." She said and took her hand. Haven smiled good naturedly.

"You've entered this realm in a fine place, I must say. A good number of the residents here are of the supernautural type. From ghosts, to treants to faeries of all kinds and much more." Haven was exicted and her smile widened. "Cool." She commented. "If you'd like, I can show you around downtown and help you at least get your bearings."

Haven jumped a bit and clapped. "That would be great! Thanks!" She said happily. " Where should we start?"

Just then, a plump of smoke appeared before her. Haven stepped back, thinking the worse, but only found that it were two men, one had dark hair and olive skin, the other was large, with darker skin.

~Moments ago~

"Hmmm, cool. Haven't seen one in a while, well lets go then. I'm perfectly fine with teleporting, though some peoples methods of doing so can feel horrible. I'm going to trust that yours doesn't."

Malik grinned. "Don't count your chickens before they hatch, Master." He said with a smirk. He walked over to Hadeem and placed a hand on his shoulder and in a cloud of smoke, they disappeared.

~Present~

"Here we are, Master." Malik said and waved to the pretty dark skinned girl with standing beside a large metallic creature. " Here is the Fae I was telling you about."

The girl backed behind the creature. "Oh no, Don't fret, little fae, We aren't here to hurt you." He said. "In fact, quite the opposite." He said with a handsome grin, Malik was one helluva flirt. The girl barely stood a chance. "What's your name?" He asked her. " H-haven." She said, a bit nervous. "Well Haven, I am Djinn Malik. This," He gestured to Hadeem. "Is my Master, Hadeem and he is going to save your life." He said and the girl looked from him to Hadeem. "And you will reward him, with your father's sword." Haven's eyes widened. " W-what?"

"You'll see. Master, just stick around her for a bit, You'll get your wish." Malik said, a bit cockily. Haven looked at the two of them, and smiled nervously. "My Father's sword...That's not...I mean....Wait, What?" Haven said, very confused. "You'll understand it all in due time." He said and patted her head before turning to Hadeem.
"Told you she was cute." He whispered, low enough that only Hadeem could hear. He then turned back to the girls. " So, just go on about your business. You needn't be worried. You're perfectly safe, with him around." He said and Haven swallowed and extended her hand. " Well, I suppose it's very nice to meet you, Hadeem." She said forcing a smile.

Asmodeus
Crabapple's is getting increasingly crowded, and i decide i need to get back to my house anyway. Cleaning bodies overdosed guests is not fun explaining to the cops if i get caught again. A change of pants would not be bad either. I skedaddle out of the store, bumping into the angry faun by the counter on the way out. Dude's got a really good musk on him.

A few hours in, while changing in my apartment, i get a phonecall:

"Who's this?"

-"Hey sexy."

From all the people who would call me, it has to be him.

"Goddamnit Bel, didn't i tell you to not call me during my alone time?"

-"What are you wearing?"

"Shouldn't you be in R&D right now?"

-"Day off. You didn't anwser my question."

He works for a research department somewhere in Europe, from what i heard. He has a unique mind, capable of inventing all sorts of cool stuff. After a brief silence, i decide to dignify his question with an anwser.

"Lingerie, happy?"

-"Absolutely. How are you holding up?"

"I'm fine, i need to clean my house right about now. And myself."

-"Orgies, huh? You haven't changed a bit."

"Not orgies, Bel, just a small shindig, you know?"

-"Casualties, again? You need to stop serving them something their body cannot handle."

"I need to get them into a right state of mind, you know? Shut up, scrub. Not my fault they decide to hang out with me"

-"I need to hang up now. Oh, almost forgot. Morningstar said to contact him."

Morningstar, a long time since i heard about him. He probably has some great visions again. Last time he was all nuts and bolts about world domination. He probably has Belphegor making secret projects for him again. Who knows what for..

I need a smoke, so i go to the balcony for a few minutes of relaxation.
