Description: Adalrik Baltasar is a tall, ruggedly handsome man who has garnered a respectful amount of strength through his long years on the sea and in the Idaran wilderness. His hawkish face is framed by long brown hair, maintained only enough to remain practical. Baltasar's three most prized positions are his excellent eyes - which shine a brilliant hazel, the necklace his daughter made him and his wife's wedding ring which hangs around his neck on a silver chain. The later two items the only thing remaining of his family. Adalrik isn't really one for fashion so other then the ever present mementos around his neck the clothing the man dawns changes as needed. If he was forced to make a comment on his attire, he'd state he'd wear anything comfortable, practical and didn't make him look like a gaudy noble.
Nationality: Portish
Creed: "Don't act stupid and your chance at life will be possible. Act stupid and you will have no chance."
Motivation: His motivations are twofold; revenge his family, and acquire enough wealth to settle down in peace.
Likes: Winning, sarcasm and humor in general, fruit in general, trying new foods, singing, playing the vihuela, wood carving, marksmanship, reading, puzzles, work, annoying the Captain, mermaids.
Dislikes: Losing, elves, being idle, stupidity, violence for the sake of violence.
Strengths: - Perception: Adalrik has some of the best eyes in the world. He seems to notice things no other can. Some have claimed it's magic but that's patently false. In Baltasar's view, the gods simply blessed him with good vision and an observant nature.
-Marksmanship: Thanks to, and perhaps because of, his nonpareil vision Adalrik has become a crack shot with firearms. Extensively trained in the use of rifles, Baltasar once served as a marksmen during his time as a royal Portish marine. These days he uses his skills in service of fortune, spreading fear across the seas and spawning legends of a a man who never misses.
-Relentlessness: A determined man, when Baltasar sets his mind to a task few things can deter him. In work and in life, it means he is always going something. Seeing the task at hand through until it's completion. Always striving for perfection. Loathing to be idle, Adalrik can always be seen doing something on the ship. Be it reading a book or helping a crew member with a task. In battle, it manifest itself in a singular unhesitating drive to win. A bloody determination to keep himself and his crew alive, cutting down anyone who would get in the way of that goal like a machine.
-Experience: Adalrik has lived a long life, and he has been on the sea more then most. In doing so he has learned hard lesson that shape how he approaches his duties.
-Respect: Put simply, people trust Adalrik. Between his steady manner and calm air, experience and willingness to put himself in the exact same position as the rest of the crew Adalrik has gained a deep respect among his fellow shipmates. When there is a argument among the crew, his input can often deescalate the situation when no solution seemed possible, when in battle he inspires confidence and determination. Many would run into the jaws of hell simply because Adalrik was leading the charge. Weaknesses: Most of Adalrik's core weaknesses are related to the loss of his wife and daughter. Such as;
-Anger: Baltasar is a calm, laid back man but even he has his triggers and those are his family. Adalrik avoids the topic like a plague as a general rule and when it is brought up his anguish manifests itself in bouts of barely controlled anger. At times, even that minuscule control slips, prompting scenes of violence.
-Nightmares: Adalrik is plagued with nightmares of his families death. The nights he receives a peaceful night sleep is few and far between.
-Idleness: Adalrik hates being idle, because when he's idle his mind wonders and when his mind wonders terrible memories return.
-Fire: Is Adalrik afraid of fire? No. During combat or general duties fire phases him no more or less then your average man. But when it's quiet, when it's calm and when there is nothing else to distract him the sight of a flickering flame can put Adalrik in a trance. Lost in a moment of time he'd wish he could forget.
Personality: Adalrik is a man of great mental strength and character, and a man of great emotional turmoil. Most would see him as a laid back fellow of exceptional calmness and a limitless talent for sarcasm, good humor and general mischief. And even more so they would see him as a man with an indomitable will. Baltasar's drive to succeed is nearly unmatched. His willingness to do what's right for him and his crew, his ability to stay calm in the face of death and his seemingly uncanny ability to say the right thing has garnered him the trust and respect of many.
But no strong man is without their wounds and Adalrik's wounds are deep and biting. The brutal loss of his family has left him mentally scared and not even he can completely hide the mark his families death has inflicted upon him. For a time before their lose he was even more a dinamo of will then he is now - if that even can be believed. For a time after their passing Baltasar was set adrift in the sea of his own anguish. Simply going through the motions of life. But as time passed and events transpired Adalrik once again transformed into the man that is known today. His scares are far from healed, and indeed they will never completely be healed. But the gods have seen fit to repair his mental shield, and so he moves ever onward driven by a rekindled will.
Adalrik is a man of great strength and great weakness. A calm, steady observor in a world on the move.

History: Adalrik is not a man who enjoys discussing his past and so the barest minimum facts necessary will be shared here. If you want to know more of Baltasar's history you will have to get to know the man and brave through his defensive barriers yourself.
As such; Adalrik was born and spent his first seventeen years in the costal city of Londerberg, Portland. At the age of seventeen he joined the the royal marines, where he excelled as a marksmen. Was the top of his class, in fact. For several years he sailed the seas both in the navy and merchant marine, the nature of Portish maritime warfare meant that he was just as much a sailor as he was a soldier. The nature of the job meant Adalrik has personally killed several pirates. In time he transfered to a post in Valiesa's frigid Cradle, using his skills to work as a hunter-tracker in Idara. In time he would grow to love Idara, in time he would have a family there. In time he would lose everything. Today he works as the Quartermaster on the ship Winter's Bounty. A pirate ship. Irony is sweet, isn't it? It isn't lost on Baltasar, certainly.
And that, friends, is all that shall be said for now.
