a character in “With Darkness Comes Light”, as played by MysterySnail

Description

Thanos Callis

Image

Alliance:
Undecided

Ark Code Name:
The Reaper

Element:
Death

Nicknames:
None

Age:
17

Gender:
Male

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

Ethnicity/Race:
White / Greek

Appearance:
Thanos is a goofy-looking young man, despite the dark burden he carries. His wild mop of dark hair and crooked jaw give him an almost comical look. Pale skin contrasts with his bright eyes and youthful complexion. He is rather tall, and slender for his age, standing at 6 feet, 2 inches, and 180 pounds. Thanos is lanky and often uncoordinated when he isn't focused on what's in front of him. He usually dresses very plainly, opting for darker clothes since finding his abilities. Thanos covers his skin entirely, always wearing thick leather gloves, long sleeves, and usually a jacket or other outerwear. He almost always has a scarf wrapped around his neck and shoulders, and a a wool beanie.

Charm's Appearance:
Thanos' charm takes the form of a human tooth, with a silver casing atop it that he usually has around his neck. The charm can become, suitably, a war-scythe. The scythe stands on a polearm about six feet long, and the blade is roughly a yard from base to end.

Personality:
Thanos is a typical teenage boy - he enjoys flirting, goofing around, showing off, and making a fool of himself. He has a wild sense of humor, and loves to make cringe-worthy jokes. The Greek boy is usually cheerful, but the weight of his Element has since turned him more reclusive and quieter. He tends to feel lonely, even in groups, due to his aversion to being touched. He is a happy person in general, but has turned pessimistic upon being tasked with Death. Sometimes, the responsibility feels too heavy.

Short Bio:
Thanos grew up comfortably in Rhodes, Greece, with his parents and adoptive special-needs brother. He attended secondary school and had an abundance of friends before the day of Destiny. Thanos was extremely articulate in science and history, and on a scholarship program to study ancient sciences. Thanos partook in soccer regularly, and was a prominent member of the school's team. On the day of Destiny, Thanos was walking home from school, and was struck, only to come to consciousness holding his charm. At first, it disgusted him, but he quickly found it curious. ignoring the gnawing in his chest for a few minutes, he paid it no heed. Thanos bumped into an elderly man on the road, who then collapsed in death. Frightened, Thanos rushed home, only to find out his burden quickly and gruesomely - murdering his entire family with only a touch. Now, Thanos has fled his country and headed to Arcadia, where he hopes that his past won't catch him.

Flaws/Fears:
Thanos resents his element. He fears harming those he loves, and fears being the cause of destruction. Thanos' most deep-set fear is in being ignored and abandoned - he is very social, and being ostracized is terrifying to him.

Abilities:

✖With skin-to-skin contact, Thanos can take a life at will.✖
✖Thanos is extremely dexterous, quick, and quiet.✖
✖He can cloak himself for thirty seconds at a time, at will, and become invisible.✖
✖Thanos can see the manner in which someone will die, if he touches them.✖

Weaknesses:
✖Taking lives drains Thanos immensely, and will make him unconscious without extreme concentration. It is possible it could kill him, if he strained enough.✖
✖Thanos is subject to frequent night terrors, sleep-walking, and nightmares. He is usually suffering from a lack of deep sleep.✖
✖Because of his fear of Death, Thanos has little control over his ability so far. He is hesitant to use it.✖

The city of Arcadia glistened with sunlight. It would be easiest to compare it to New York or Los Angeles, but it was a fairly new city, so it was unlike others with the same population. It was not unusual for entire families to move to Arcadia at a time. In it's one year of function, Arcadia had already become a major city in the United States. Anyone could see why. It boasted a coast lined with large hotels and amusement parks everywhere. If someone combined every popular city in the United States, it wouldn't even begin to compare to Arcadia.
Seven o'clock. Not an unlikely time for people to be up and about. One girl followed this rule of the weekday. She was getting ready for school, checking her texts, doing everything a normal girl would do. However, Avalon Delta was far from being a "normal girl". If someone had seen her bend over her bed to grab her notebook, they would've seen a small key dangling from around Avalon's neck. Most people didn't know what the key was actually for, but she knew very well what it was for. When she straightened up, she tucked it back under her shirt, glancing around anxiously.
She placed her notebook in her blue messenger bag the moment her phone rang. She picked it up, answering the call. "Hey, mom. No, everything's going great. Didn't Tori start school today?" she paused before laughing softly. "That's great. Look, I gotta go. I'm showing around the foreign exchange students today. I'll call you back later. M'kay? Love you, bye!"
When she hung up, she placed the phone in her pocket, letting out a small sigh. She slung her bag over her shoulder, walking out of her dorm room. As she walked to Arcadia Academy's main building, she chuckled a bit. Exchange students weren't unusual in the Academy.
It took a few minutes for her to get to the office and when she did, she looked at the ten new students in front of her. She sighed, her shoulders slumping. This was going to be a long day.

Marcus Lorde never actually imagined that he would ever attend school in a city, much less the newest flourishing city. So far, Arcadia seemed much more hospitable than most places he had traveled to, but it was still too early to judge a book by its cover. Despite being born in England, he had been raised as a farm boy. However, no one could tell that by simply looking at him. He dressed like most teenagers with the small exception of the geode necklace swinging back and forth with his movements. It glinted in the sunlight as he walked to the academy's main building.

With a small hum, Marcus climbed the stairs into the office, only to discover that he was probably the only person that hadn't arrived yet. He walked off the the side just as the principal, at least he assumed it was the principal, walked in. She seemed like a very professional woman, with her hair in a bun and a manilla folder tucked under her arm.

She smiled warmly at the new arrivals. "Welcome to Arcadia Academy. I'm Principal Shire. If you have any questions, you can ask me or your guide, who should be here momentarily. Girls, she is in the dorms, so don't feel awkward if you have any questions. Boys, you have a dorm head, who was unfortunately out last night and this morning, but should be back today. Anyways," she opened the folder and started sorting through it. "Here are your schedules. Let's start from the top: Derren Akumu, Thanos Callis, Roman Dmitriev, Moa Eden, Scarlet Harris, Marcus Lorde-"

Marcus watched the others step forward until he heard his name. He walked up and grabbed his schedule, glancing over the piece of paper. The classes seemed relatively normal. They were ones he picked, after all. The principal was about to say something else when a girl entered the room. Marcus assumed she was either a late newcomer or their guide. She looked over the crowd and her confidence seemed to slump. Before he knew it, her smile was back on her face, "Good morning, everyone. My name is Avalon Delta and I'll be your guide today."

She repeated herself in several different languages, not even stumbling once over the foreign words. Impressive. Marcus thought.

The sky was still fading to indigo as Thanos pressed his forehead to the cold window of the bus. His breath fogged the glass slightly as he watched the foreign country whir by in a Monet painting of colors. The bus ride has not been unpleasant, but the greek found himself in a foul mood - partially lack of sleep, partially lack of food, partially stress. He fidgeted with his gloved hands quietly as he watched the countryside vanish into buildings. Was this a good idea? he thought to himself, nervously adjusting the scarf that was tucked around his neck to more adequately cover his skin. His clothing was simple for the long bus ride - dark jeans, tennis shoes, and a deep slate-colored henley tucked under his black jacket. The grey hood of the jacket was pulled up around the back of his head, a deep navy scarf wrapped about his shoulders and throat. Plain black vinyl gloves kept his hands covered, and a black knit beanie kept his dark, unruly hair out of his way. He was exhausted looking, unshaven, and irate from being hungry. As the sun rose, Thanos promised himself to buy breakfast - something he rarely did. After a long night on the bus, however, he decided he could make an exception.

The sun was already high by the time the bus rolled to a stop and Thanos discarded his ticket, tugging his blue suitcase along behind him. Everything he owned was stuffed into it, and into the threadbare messenger bag slung across his chest. He found his way into a Starbucks and rewarded himself for the long ride with hot coffee and a warm sandwich. He ate as he walked, hurrying to follow the quietly-speaking navigation on his phone to the dorm housing for the Academy.

The buildings were large, but no larger than he had seen at home in Greece. A quick look at his phone, and Thanos knew he was still early, and smiled calmly behind his coffee. He found the room number he had been assigned, after ememorizing it off of a crumpled napkin that was shoved into his pocket. The door was unlocked, as it had been unclaimed, and he chucked his suitcase inside. He'd return for it later. Assigned keys sat on a hook on the wall, and after a quick test, he took one, now having the means to lock his room.

It was a short walk to the campus, but the anxiety of avoiding people plagued the greek boy. He ducked and weaved through groups, keeping his eyes down and head low, hands in his pockets. He wasn't early, but he wasn't late, when he slid into the office and stepped away from the group of people. He clung to a wall, several feet away. He thankfully didn't need to wait long - a woman arrived, and began rattling off a welcome and introduction.

Avalon brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her eyes scanning over the crowd. It seemed like she had gone unnoticed for the most art, or maybe they assumed that she was another new student. With a silent sigh, Avalon cleared her throat, "Good morning, everyone. My name is Avalon Delta and I'll be your guide today," she repeated the statement in Russian, Greek, Italian, and Japanese, just to make sure everyone could understand her. "First off, I would like to welcome you to Arcadia Academy. I hope you enjoy your stay here as much as I have."

Suddenly, a the charm under her shirt started burning, She winced slightly before pulling it out. Not now... Luckily for her, the charm cooled down. She dropped against her chest, her "guide" smile returning. "We should get moving now," she said. "The classes aren't going to wait on us. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in whatever language you are comfortable with."

Once again, she repeated it in the other languages. She looked at Principal Shire, "I think I can handle it from her."

Shire smiled, "Of course. Let me know if you need anything."

Avalon nodded and turned back to the students. "Let's move, people!" she walked over to the door and held it open for all of them, "We don't have all day!"
