Keli is a first generation Kethadrian, the son of two laborers of Mesopotamian origin. His citizenry was acquired through his apprenticeship to one of the inventor's workshops in Natalan.
Torn between his upper class upbringing and his child-of-servants dislike for the establishment, Keli tends to keep his conflicting feelings to himself. He is instead willing to talk for hours about the details and intricacies of every which socially unimportant thing, especially of the projects that the various tinkers oh his workshop have him assist on. Keli has an untactful manner of continuing to finish his thoughts despite his audience's requests to desist - whether due to boredom from, or perfect understanding of, his words.
Kelius Denai, born of Jerasudazzur and Anata, lived much of his life on the streets of Natalan. Both of his parents, Mesopotamian immigrants, were indentured as servants to the upper-class Denai family. Upon his birth, Kelius was determined by a preist to be gifted with potential, and was granted both familial association to the Denai household, and his citizenship in the form of a true Kethadrian crystal. His childhood was intertwined with that of the Denai children, but his lack of a blood tie disinherited him from any of the same privileges that the others enjoyed. His teenage years found him frequenting the less-than-safe streets in Natalan, though his lack of physical prowess and clearly upper-class speaking habits eventually drove him out. Upon coming of age he toured several respectable professionals, but was intrigued only by one: Penelus Thanner, Master Tinker. To be sure, Keli was not intrigued by the man himself, but by the range of contraptions and machinations that he chanced to observe on his first visit. Even to just touch one of those... he had thought, and his mind was settled. Penelus agreed to take him in as an apprentice, likely to one of his younger, less experienced subordinates. The Denai children could have received a better standing, but Keli was still a child of servants. His parents' debts would pass on to him should they perish before earning their own Kethadrian crystals, and no Master would risk taking an apprentice only to lose him to such a misfortune. Kelius is now occupied mostly by manual labors that drive him from weakling to strongman as he rotates among several Associate Tinkers of Penelus Thanner's workshop.
