Emily lightly slapped her hands to her face and released a breath she didn't know she had been holding. "Calm down Em. They'll like you. They've gotta like you. You're pretty! You're peppy! You're excited! You're..." Emily looked up at the grand guild hall and her stomach was filled with a swarm of rabid, flesh eating moths. Not butterflies... Moths. Big difference.
"TOTALLY FREAKING OUT! What if they don't like me? What if they think I'm ditzy? Oh man, I'm starting to get dizzy."
Emily dropped to the ground in a dramatic display of blustering insecurity. She looked up at the sky and let the sun soak her face until her eyes began to burn. She blinked and puffed a breath of air to her bangs then dropped her head between her knees. She began to whisper to herself. "Look to the brightest star for thy strength and character. Forget thy ways and run to the light. So saith the stars... Alright let's do this."
Emily took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. When she opened her eyes, they burned with steely determination. She jumped to her feet and exclaimed "Let's do this! Woooo!"
She ran to the guild's door and froze up just as her hand was about to open it. She stood like that for a bit and then deflated. "Heheh. I still can't do it. Man, I'm freakin out."
"Sorry to leave like this, Trabe. But I saw some people summoning griffen's out in the yard, see ya. We are going to make such a great team!" She yelled as sh egrabbed his hands and jumped up a bit, before letting go and running out.
She exited out of a side door, and quickly fount her way to the front, where she saw the people summoning animals. She made her way up, introduced herself, and said she wanted to try. She put down her hands on the ground and a purple light went from the ground. When she was finished, Basalisk was on the ground, it had no eyes, and was around twenty feet long. "His name is Fedo." She said before getting on him. Fedo never really liked Janelle, but she fed him, so he was loyal. She started riding the snake around when she noticed a girl standing at the front of the guild. She had long blonde hair, but she looked sad. "Come on, Fedo. That way!" She yelled at the snake who went over to the around she pointed at. He picked up speed and right before they got there, he reverse summoned himself back to his home, and let Janelle fly off.
She landed almost beside the girl, and when she hoped back up, she noticed her arm and bleeding. "Damn snake." She cursed at Fedo. "Hi, sorry about that, you seem new. I'm Janelle, nice to meet you!" She said and put out her non-bleeding hand for a shake with the girl.
"Hi! It's no big deal, I've almost been trampled by worse. And you're right I am new! I'm Emily, but you can just call me Em. Or Emmy. Or Emily the Great Spectacular and Wonderful. Heheh. I haven't gotten anyone to call me the last one yet, but that doesn't mean I'll stop trying. Sorry, I tend to ramble when meeting new people. Um, do you need help with that arm? I could try a light spell to heal it a bit, those are the only ones I'm actually good at. Are you a summoner?"
The entire paragraph of dialogue was said with hardly any pause, great gestures that went along with each word, and a highly hyperactive tone. Great Em, you've done it again. She'll either think you're crazy or awesome... Please be awesome, please be awesome, please be awesome...
"Sure!" She said to Emily, "Go at it!" She said holding out her still bleeding arm. WHile she waited, she took a chance to respond. "Emily the Great Spectacular and Wonderful, hun. Remind me to write that down in my book of names, because that would be an awesome nickname." She said and smiled, "And yes, I am a summoner, but I can only work with animals, couldn't get weapons or other things. I don't really worry about it, although as you saw, some aren't that fond of me. Fedo, that snake, I am sure tried to eat me one time. But, most like me, like the Figu triplets: Unicorn, Bicorn, and Tricorn. All love me, hehe." She laughed while looking at her new friend, and she then remembered that she said she was good at light magic, and one of the ones she was good at, "Wonder what else she knows." She thought.
Her arm was now covered in blood, and fortunatly her shirt had no sleaves, so she only had to worry about cleaning it later.
Emily claps her hands together and a luminous aura encompassed them. As she slowly pulls her hands apart an orb of yellow energy forms and expands between them. Emily then expanded the orb around Janelle's wounds and the aura transferred to her arm.
"This'll feel tingly, but in a good way. Also, I think summoning is the coolest thing! I've always like animals but they don't like me, hehe. And I can't believe I FINALLY got someone to agree to my illustrious title! Someone smart enough to figure out that I deserve that title must be as great as me! So... We'll call you... Janelle the Super Fantabulous Beast Master! Hmm, or maybe we should do something a bit cuter, I don't feel like Beast Master matches you well. But then again I just met you! Tell you what-"
Emily pulled her hands away to reveal smooth, undamaged skin on Janelle's arm.
"-on the day I make your title, then we'll officially be best friends!" At this point Emily had grabbed Janelle's hands in a very familiar way that can hardly be used by virtual strangers. Emily seemed to remember this so she backed off in an embarrassed state.
"Sorry, that was kinda forward of me. I tend to get ahead of myself sometimes. Life moves so fast that if you wanna get anything out of it you have to outrun it! At least that's what I think." Emily smiled brightly at Janelle in the hope that she didn't ruin her chances of fitting in here. Usually when she pulled out the best friend card after just meeting someone they backed away slowly. Hmph, as if wanting to be friends with people is weird.
She then grabbed Emily's hands and started doing a dance a little kid might do, where she raised both their hands and moved around a little bit, all the while singing, "Best-friends, Best-friends." She finally let go, and was smiling huge. "Please, its alright. Going forward is awesome, and outrunning life sounds cool!" She said happy as a clam. She then remembered she didn't freak out when she saw Fedo, most people did becasue Basalisk was considered bad to summon, mainly because dark wizards used their venom for poison, but they are not evil, they are just mistreated. "By the way, thanks for not freaking with Fedo, most people don't know that his kind have been taken advantage of for their venom, and poor guy, last person who could summon him took away his eyes, makes me sad." She said putting her head down, it made her sad to think of her summons as being hurt in any way.
"So, long how have you been using light magic, I have been able to summon since I was around 9 or so, finally left my parents home, and now I am a big time guild memeber, hehe." She giggled.
"I haven't been at it nearly as long. I've only been practicing for two years, and I still have a long way to go. That's why I joined. To make money and advance in my training. I think it's awesome that you set out on your own! My parents kinda wanted me to strike out on my own. It was really hard on me and I really didn't want to do it. But, that's the way things go right?" Emily smiled at Janelle and then looked up to the sky.
"It sure is a nice day... Say, how do you feel about the sun?"
Emily didn't really know why she asked the question. She tended to get a bit philosophical at random times, especially when mentioning her family.
When she asked her question, she htought about it for a second. "Well, it's alright, I perfer the moon, it just is calmer and happier than the sun, I think." She smiled a bit, and then an idea popped into her head.
"OH MY GODS," She yelled, not realizing that might scare her, "I just had a great idea." She pulled out her small book of spells that she owned and handed it to her, "Somewhere, I remeber seeing something about using light magic to create weapons out of light energy. If you can learn them, I can summon a Pegasus, and you can be like a Valkyrie. It would be awesome!" She said, still yelling a bit. "Sorry if I just broke your ear-drum, I tend to yell when I get over-happy." She said, still with a goofy smile on her face.
Emily thought over Janelle's response to her question. She nodded in approval, she respected the moon, but the sun was her savior. Then she thought about the spell Janelle was proposing, it sounded rather like something she'd tried before in the beginning of her training. Back then she had failed miserably, but maybe she could figure it out with the help of some of the mages here. That could definitely come in handy later...
"I think I've tried something like that before.. But I'm totally wiling to try again if it means I get a free Pegasus ride! I LOVE those things! By the way is there such thing as a giant bunny beast?"
And so the conversation went. The two girls oscillated between on and off topic discussion as they made their way to the guild hall interior. By the time they made it inside, Em had somehow driven the conversation to a discussion about the elasticity of a certain type of swamp moss.
"-and that's how I managed to shoot a swamp toad from ten yard away. Um..." Emily looked around and was overwhelmed by the guild layout. The agencies she had worked with before had been very small.
"I think I might need a tour... Oh, and are there any people I should avoid? Typically there's at least one tough guy no one likes."
The wizard was going to leave the building to get rid of the frozen ball when a girl approached him quickly stopping just a foot away, too close so if you ask to Trabe, she also asked.
"An Electic Orb!?" She gasped, "Where did you get it?! How much!"
The boy was surprised that she recognized the only Electric Orb that was known but as expected she wanted to buy it, even a normal person would want something so rare but Trabe wasn't willing to sell, mainly because it was a gift.
"It was a gift and is not for sale" the girl was very excited about that so the boy thought she needed more answers "Besides even if it were, I was is aligned with my powers so only I can use it,"
The Orb reacted each time he approached a certain distance from its frozen sphere which could be dangerous because he didn't know the effects it would have the Orb on the lightning magic imbued in the water, he didn't have any effective method to get rid without any risk , the best he could do is throw it somewhere and see what happens or could thaw and ensure that nobody touches the water until evaporate but that doesn't solve the problem, for the second time he decided to seek help from someone he just met.
"Do you have a spell with which you can get rid of this?" extended his left hand, didn't know what kind of wizard she was but hopefully she would be able to help.
"Hey, I am Raynnor" the man said "We need to talk sometime."
"Yes of course is there something you need" He said with a smile " I never seen you here before are you new?"
Miyu's wide smile turned into a pouting frown.
"Besides even if it were, I was is aligned with my powers so only I can use it,"
"B-but! They're so rare! A-and..no fun.." She complained, looking up at him for a moment, but then her bright eyes quickly moved back on to the orb. Her smile returned and she continued staring at it. It was nothing like she'd ever seen before and she so badly wanted to do something with it, figure out what kind of power it had. Then there was the sphere in the mans other hand, which didn't look like it was agreeing well with he one in his right. She was curious to see what would happen if they were pressed together.
"Do you have a spell with which you can get rid of this?"
The man moved his left hand forward a little and she straightened herself up and looked at him, then the sphere, then back at him.
"You wanna get rid of it?! But don't you wanna see what happens if they are put together?"
A wide smile spread across her face and she grabbed the guys hands and clapped them together, causing the orbs to collide with each other.
"Like this!" She said loudly and enthusiastically as she did so, anxious to see what would happen next.
Immediately, the Orb began producing electricity casting lightning in all directions and the ball began to shine and vibrate threatening to explode, "Damn it" exclamed leaping backwards and wrapped himself in the ice dome still holding the objects in his hands although this one was less sturdy than earlier still served its purpose.
The explosion was small and focused inside the small dome, Trabe had to do that to not involve the others, intentionally let the dumb girl out although she didn't deserved his help, ice fragments flew in all directions and where before was the dome now were a wounded wizard, from his mouth came a small trickle of blood, his left hand had burns and was bleeding and his black shirt had severals torn parts that showed more injuries.
The Orb was lying on his right hand harmless, Trabe looked stunned, what kind of thing he might be able to do once he mastered the mysterious stone? that question attracted and frightened him at the same time, it was too inestable, the frozen sphere was imbued with a simple spell and exploded by simply approaching the Orb, with a more complex and powerful spell maybe Trabe would end annihilated by his own magic, his first priority now would be master the use of the Orb.
"I don't want to see you never again" angrily told the to girl and retired to the side where he left himself drop near the wall to recover, even though like all wizards his own magic had little effect on him the explosion product of this was rather effective.
"I don't want to see you never again"
It was her who was at fault here, but she was too stubborn to admit that. Instead she just glared at him as he dropped with his back against the wall. "Now wait a minut--!"
"WHAT THE HELL! ... WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU TWO ARE DOING , YOUR LUCKY THAT ICE DOME HELD UP"
She flinched a little at the yelling behind her, then turned around with an awkward smile only to see the young man who had first approached her earlier. He couldn't possibly be the master could he? No, he was far too young for that.
"What if that did not hold up and you took out hole building and the people of the town?"
Miyu slouched a little, a tiny bit of guilt hitting her. She was wrong on her part, but the other guy didn't need to be such a jerk about it. "Eh, sorry bout' that!" She apologized with a slight dip of her head, "I wasn't thinking, really sorry." She then turned around and took a couple of steps towards Trabe and also gave him a slight dip of her head. "I admit, I could've handled that situation a little better. I'm sorry bout' that..." She paused a moment, straightening herself up and looking to the side a little, her awkward smile pulling at her lips. "But, you had to admit that was a pretty awesome reaction between the two orbs. I mean it's obviously powerful." The awkward smile turned into a wide, enthusiastic one. "If you're ever gunna sell it, let me know! Cause I want to be the first and only buyer!" She said, giving his a thumbs up. "By the way you look like crap. You should really fix that.."
She looked aorund looking for the source, when she saw trabe and some new girl. Lucas walked up to them and looked mad as hell. "There he is," She said pointing at Lucas, "Come on. You've got to meet Trabe." She said and grabbed her friend's gand and ran over.
"Hiya gang, and new girl." She said, and looked at Lucas, who was still mad, "Lucas this is Emily! Once you are done yelling or what-ever, can you givew us a tyour of this place." She said, oblivious to the fack that an something had exploded. Well, in all honesty, unless a dragon came down and snatched her up, little would or could bother her.
The girl didn't show a slightly reflect on her actions by the way she talked, it seems to her the fact that Trabe end up all beaten or could have died was awesome, it was goes without saying that the boy wasn't very happy so didn't hold back, "You're a lot dumber than I thought, I only said you two things and it seems you didn't understood any of the so I'll repeat it for you" made a pause cause his ribs ached "Only I can use it and I don't want to see you again" it was obvious that if he didn't wanted to see her Trabe wouldn't bother to let her know in the unlikeable event that he wanted to sell the Orb.
Though the girl was right when she said that he needed a proper treatment but he didn't have desire to trust some stranger to heal him so he'll rest a bit and then go to see one of the few friends he had, that thought was interrumped by the noisy girl that came accompanied by a blonde and acted as if nothing had happened while demanding a tour and then came a guy of black hair, apparently his eyes weren't able to see that Trabe was wounded since he said that no one was hurt, he also was asking what had caused the explosion, luckily he believed that the dumb girl was responsible for that, not much appart of the reality but don't in the way he thought, that was he wouldn't have to deal with another curious person this day, he stood leaning on the wall.
Miyu's smile vanished and she glared at him."Who're you calling du--!"
"Only I can use it and I don't want to see you again"
"We're in the same guild bud so you'll have to see me anyway! You don't have to be such a jer--!"
"Hiya gang, and new girl."
She stopped abruptly as a couple of girls approached them and she stopped herself from continuing her rage at the other wizard, which she hadn't even uncovered his name yet. Come to think of it, she couldn't exactly remember if she'd introduced herself yet either. Small things like that always slipped her mind. "Uh, hi there." She said, straightening up and resuming a slightly calm stance, though that didn't last very long when her normal smile returned to her face.
"Mind if I ask what did this?"
She turned a little to face the man who had asked the question and her smile slightly widened. "It was awesome right?! An Electric Orb clashing an rejecting another elemental sphere! I bet it would've made an epic attack if Mr. Grumpy Blue-Hair knew how to control it. Too bad for him!" She said enthusiastically, zero remorse for the possible damage her actions could've caused to others if Trabe hadn't created the ice dorm. In fact, all thoughts of that completely vanished themselves from her mind.
She heard the last bit of Lucas's sentence, the part about 2nd and 3rd floors of the guild being off limits for all except A and B rank wizards. She spun around and face him with curious amber eyes. "Yo, Luke! How long does it take to become a wizard of that level? They got bigger jobs up there right? You know, the one's that are worth way more money?"
Amelia shook her head, it must be coincidence since the alternative would mean that she was somehow directed to the ruin. If that was the case then how much of her own actions did she truly control?
Amelia closed her eyes, as she emptied herself of emotion she opened the bridge to her soul and let all her sense be guided by its mysterious hand. For some reason she felt only cold yet... it wasn't really cold at all, the feeling was strangely familiar and close by yet Amelia could not find anything.
She opened her eyes as she suddenly felt weakness come over her, something was wrong and soon Amelia saw that her right arm was bleeding as strange dark wounds opened in her skin. At first Amelia turned fully ready to do battle expecting to find an enemy responsible for the wounds but then Amelia paused.
This was not the doing of any external force; this was her own power at work, but how was that even possible?
Amelia closed her eyes again and searched for that part of her soul responsible for this magic, it did not take her long to find it. A great dark stain was present in her magical powers and the stain was expanding, Taking in a deep breath Amelia called on upon her will and began burning the stain... It was a close call but the fact that she did not feel this presence sooner was alarming.
Looking down on her hands which remained scared Amelia shuddered, she would have to be extra careful while dabbling with necromancy in her experiments next time.
Amelia put on her gloves to hide the scars on her hand and began to walk back to the hall unaware that the dark rubies she was wearing around her neck had grown red with blood while in the moons light. As she entered the hall and closed the doors the wind outside grew in strength carrying a whisper which was mostly to weak to be understood, however three words repeated themselves as if an echo "come to me..."
