Star Light nuzzled Beninca awake. She jumped up shoving Star Light away with her foot. "If you wake me up like that one more time," she hissed. "I can't be responsible for my actions." She flexed the claws on her gloves, full knowing that it was an empty threat, and that her wolf also knew it was an empty threat. No one could kill their wolf. They would be killed on the spot and Beninca had no apprentice. The very next child to be born would take her place and god knows what would happen! Besides, she had too much power. She couldn't afford to lose that. Making sure Star Light was a good distance away she lay back down and went back to sleep.
Shadow slinked out of his den and lapped some water from the river. Sniffing the air he picked up the scent of rabbit. He turned around silently and saw it paying him no attention, nibbling the grass. Shadow crouched, but before he could spring a cockatoo's loud screech startled the tasty animal and it ran off into the bush. A low growl escaped shadows throat and he slinked off between the trees.

Ashwood woke at the sound of Beninca hissing at Star Light. She took a moment to listen to her surroundings, only to hear a small animal skittering off into the woods. With a huff, she laid her head back down, and dozed off. The day wasn't ready to begin, and neither was she. Maybe today, she'll find her master.
Perhaps today Beninca would find the new wolf master. She hoped so. She longed for a fight and it wasn't likely the rest of the Tribe would let her if there was no one to take her place, besides, she couldn't have just anyone take over the Tribe. It was hopeless without a strong leader. It needed someone who wouldn't let a member slip. Breaking a rule meant death and Beninca intended to keep it that way. She sat and waited for any sign of life near the hill where she lived.
Shadow had just had a brilliant idea to get back at those of his family who had become wolf masters wolves. There were always careless mothers that let their pups stray or orphaned pups that found there way to wolf territory where they were cared for. If he could get the youngest pups, train them to listen to him, but seem like they obey the humans...Oh yes. Now the whole Tribe would pay! He was going to train the next sacred wolf!
No one had come today. Starlight snuffled sadly. She longed for company. Beninca was worried too. If she didn't find a Sacred Wolf Master to take her place, some soft little baby might take her place. Who knew what might happen to the tribe.

Jessica was on top of a cliff watching starlight from afar she was debating whether to go down there or not she was curious as most young pups were she sat down clearly visible if you looked up in her direction you would spot her the rock beneath her collapsed causing her to roll down the cliff and land dizzy and confused next to starlight she giggled a little at her clumsy slip she then saw starlight and ran trying to climb back up the cliff and failing horribly.
Beninca stirred at the sound of the falling cub. Starlight quickly slipped in front of Jessica so Beninca wouldn't see her and pretended to be inerested in a small burrow.
"Why are you making so much noise?" demanded Beninca. Starlight looked up innocently and cocked her head to one side. "I didn't hear anything," she thought knowing that Beninca being her master would understand her message. Beninca growled slightly and looked to the valley below studying the rest of the tribe. Starlight gently nuzzled Jessica Moore to her feet and helped her up the hill reminding her quietly that ordinary wolf cubs shouldn't be to near the sacred hill unless called, before slipping down to sit next to the burrow before Beninca sat down again sighing.
"We need a new Sacred Wolf Master, Starlight," she said stroking her fur slightly. "And soon."

Jessica ran back to her small cave alone shaking from fear she was shy and feared that everyone she met would try to kill her.
Shadow slunk through the bush looking for food. Suddenly he picked up the fear sent of a small wolf cub. Stalking forward he saw a small cave. He sat by the entrance trying to look as friendly as possible and waited.

Jessica sniffed smelling another wolf she started digging as quitly as she could but tired herself out and fell asleep murmuring in her sleep.
Shadow heard the scuffling of paws. He smelled fear sent. The cub was trying to dig away from him! This wasn't right! He stopped himself from bounding into he den, "Stay. You don't wan't to scare it."
After a few moments he heard the heavy breathing of sleep and a few quiet howls. Quietly so as not to wake the cub he crawled into the den. He looked at the cub. "Yes," he thought, "a fine choice for the future Sacred Wolf." Grinning to himself he curled up around the cub and went to sleep.

Jessica woke up stretched then noticed the wolf wrapped around her she used her eyes to follow the body up to the neck and lunged at it biting down hard knowing it would do no good.
Shadow work to a sharp pain in his neck. He quickly rose up and rounded on the wolf that had attacked him, hitting his head on the low den roof in the process. A growl rumbled in his throat, but he quickly checked himself, put on a concerned face and said seriously to the cub, "I'm sorry. Did I frighten you?" Nuzzling her gently, "You looked so young and lonely. Are you lost? Do you have any parents?"
"Make friends," he thought, "Gain her trust. Then she will be yours."

Jessica was staring at Shadow"What does it matter to you huh?"she tried to circle around him so her back was towards the exit.
As casually as he could Shadow stopped her by positioning his body longways across the exit. "Just concerned is all. I've never had a cub of my own," He added wistfully, "I can take care of you if you'd like. Teach you how to hunt and stuff...One of my brothers became a wolf master's wolf you know. I'm sure with my help you could become one too. Imagine that! Respected by all the wolves! Would you like that?" He asked circling her while making sure her exit was blocked at all times.

Shadow stopped. "You are all alone aren't you? I'm sorry if you have a mother or something and you were just scared," smiling in a way that seemed to say he cared about her he added, "I really think you have the potential to become a very well known member of the tribe."

Shadow growled to himself. "So close and yet so far. She would have made a great Sacred Wolf under my command. Hang on! 'Scarps?' Time for her to try real food." Shadow slinked out of the den and headed quietly towards the river. He was sure to find some animals drinking there.
Autumn wasn't the best time for food.There was only one small mouse digging near the bank, but it ran off as Shadow approached. Instead he looked to the water. "I wonder how she likes fish," he thought. He caught two within a couple of hours. As he headed back towards the den hoping to find the cub back there again. He spotted an elk. Obviously it would be impossible to catch one alone, but at least they were returning to theTribes territory.

Jessica was watching Shadow stalking him like he was prey silently creeping behind him she was fine untill she accidentally stepped on a fallen branch it cracked.
Shadow whipped around. Seeing Jessica he relaxed.
"I thought you might be hungry," he dropped the fish and pushed one towards her. "You said before that you ate scraps. This fish is fresh if you'd like some."
He pretended to ignore her sniffing it tentitavely while he ate his own.

She was suspicious of Shadow and slowly bit the fish keeping her eyes on Shadow she was so focused on him she started choking.

"Are you okay?" he asked with genuine concern because despite himself he was warming too her.
