About: Lucas is very open and honest with people. He states his opinions no matter what it may be or who he is talking to, this had earned him the respect of his peers. He is very self-confident sure of himself, making him a good leader and earning him the spot of captain of the soccer team. Having grown up as the only boy in a family of girls has made him slightly effeminate but it has also allowed him to understand women better and he has many female friends. He is very intelligent and was able to skip the third grade, allowing him to be in the same class as his sister Belle. However, he has no sense of empathy and cannot understand why people do things unless he himself has done them. He is very close to his sister Belle and one is seldom seen without the other. He has many acquaintances but a very small group of friends. Lucas is known to throw very large river parties behind his family's house but when it comes to special events such as birthdays he prefers a smaller crowd. He is his father's pride and joy; being the only boy and the star of the soccer team means that in his parent's eyes he can do no wrong.

Background: Lucas was born exactly one year after his sister Belle, meaning that they share a birthday. When he was young the other boys used to tease him because if given the choice between a game of baseball with them or a tea party with his sisters he would always choose the tea party. His parents tried to shelter him from their teasing but it never bothered him to begin with and when the boys realized they weren't getting through they usually left him alone. Exactly six months after Belle's 10th birthday and six months before Lucas's 10th they both had their first transformation. Both turned into tigers and looked so much alike that it was difficult even for their parents to tell them apart. Although Lucas's father Alejandro has no Cat genes he still understood how rare it was for a child to transform before his tenth birthday and was even prouder. Now Loryn has just turned 10 and Lucas is spending most of his nights helping her to master her transforming.

Lucas prowled through the forest, quickly and silently. Most nights he would've just taken a swim in the river, climbed a couple things and then went home. But tonight wasn't like most nights, tonight he had a mission. His eyes scanned the forest, from the ground to the treetops and back again. He thought to himself <She's only 10 how hard could it be to find her?> Judging by how much progress he was making, it was pretty hard. He was supposed to have been watching her practice her transformations but she was getting better and he had gotten lazy. He had gone for a swim while she was practicing but her instincts had taken over and she had gone feral. Now he was skulking through the woods, on a school night no less, trying to track Loryn down before anything else could. He stopped and smelled the air, a strong scent of wolf filled his nostrils and he knew he was dangerously close to the White household.

He was just about to turn back when he heard it, howling. There was no doubt in his mind, those were wolves most likely Whites and his little sister was somewhere out here with them. He took off deeper into the woods < Hang on Loryn, big brother's coming to find you. I just hope those wolves don't find you first.> He had caught Loryn's scent and could track her easily but the closer he got to her meant the closer he got to the White household. He stopped when he reached the edge of the White estate and he just in time to see Loryn scaling the wall! He sprinted after her.<NO! Loryn get down from there right now or you're going to be in so much trouble!>

Cheyenne had just barely gotten back into the forest when she picked up on the scent of a tiger. Obviously a Kelly, since tiger's aren't a natural inhabitant of Washington. <C'mon! That smell's heading straight to the house!> Desirae said, racing back towards the house with David right on her flank. 'Kelly...but they know better! There's gotta be a good reason' Cheyenne ran straight back to the house. She was smaller than her cousins and treaded less air, so she passed them up and got to the estate faster. And just in time to see a large tiger race out of the woods towards a tiger cub that was scaling the wall of the house. <You shouldn't be here! You could be killed!> She directed her thoughts towards the male cat. She didn't want a fight to break out, but the twins had already caught up. <He shouldn't be here! This is our land!> Desirae's thoughts echoed in Cheyenne's mind. <The cub is feral. It isn't their fault-> David interrupted. <Maybe they should learn to teach their kids faster. Not our problem if they can't learn to control themselves.> Cheyenne backed up behind the two large wolves, forced to submit to their decision since they were higher ranked. Directing her thoughts toward the male tiger, she hoped he would listen. <You need to get out of here. The twins can attack you but they can't hurt the cub, it's our law. They'll just calm her down and take her back to your land. Go!>

Loryn reached the roof just as Lucas reached the house. As he climbed after Loryn he could smell three wolves behind him, two large ones and another smaller one. <Great, that's just what I needed right now. Where the heck does Loryn think she's going anyway?> he thought to himself. He was halfway up the wall when one of the wolves spoke to him. He responded <I know that but I can't leave without her.> When he reached the roof he could see Loryn pacing back and forth, now that she was here she didn't know what to do with herself. He approached her slowly, he didn't want to wake any of the inhabitants below but he knew he had to get her down quickly and safely. The wolves were even closer now, he wasn't sure how he was going to get himself out alive but he knew they wouldn't hurt Loryn and that was really all that mattered, right? He could hear the wolf, the smaller one, speaking to him again but he just couldn't leave without Loryn Firstly they weren't even supposed to be out practicing without their mom around, and secondly he was supposed to be watching her. He still had a faint hope of getting out of this unscathed and without getting caught and he was clinging to it. <I can't just go, she's my sister! I either leave here with her or I don't leave at all.> He saw an opportunity and went for it, grabbing Loryn by the scruff of her neck he made his way down the side of the house as quietly as he could with a snarling, scratching kit in his jaws. As Lucas climbed down he looked up at the rows of claw marks he and Loryn had left on the side of the house; he would have a lot of explaining to do if this caught up with him but first he'd have to get away with it before it could catch up to him and by the smell of the wolves behind him it didn't look like that was going to happen.

Cheyenne sighed in relief as she watched the tigers leave. The twins started after them, but the younger girl growled to grab their attention. <Let them go, it was a misunderstanding. You can explain what happened to the family tomorrow. Let's just go to bed before someone wakes up and gets us in trouble for sneaking out again.> The two older wolves were hesitant, but they knew Cheyenne was right, so they went back into their human forms and walked into the house. 'Phew...' Cheyenne followed them. Sitting on her bed, she started thinking about the tiger. 'I wonder if he thinks I'm weird, helping him like that...after all, I'm a wolf. I'm supposed to kill him.' She pondered this for a while before finally falling asleep.

Lucas walked back home, still clutching Loryn in his mouth. His chest and forelegs were now covered in scratches and he'd have to wear long sleeves for a couple of days to hide it but at least he was alive and mostly unharmed. When they arrived at the edge of the river he stopped, and dropped Loryn in. The cool water should bring her back to her senses. Seconds later she came up, soaking wet and coughing. <Wha-what happened?> She looked at him <And what happened to you?> He smiled and began walking towards the house. <It's a long story, I'll fill you in tomorrow.> After he had gotten Loryn cleaned up and asleep he was finally able to crawl into his own bed and close his eyes for some well needed sleep, when his alarm clock rang.

Cheyenne had only gotten about an hour of sleep by the time she had to wake up for school. Standing, she slowly and rather lazily got dressed and walked downstairs, her backpack actually heavy for once from all the books inside. She knew something was off when all the adults were sitting in the kitchen. "Morning Chell~" Desirae said, using the old childhood nickname from Portal. the twins were waiting for her in the corner of the room, but they both looked drained, which meant they had probably endured a lecture from their Uncle Jackson about "sneaking out at night" and "not having the courage to fight a Kelly". Lucky for Cheyenne, said Uncle wasn't in the room. The adults continued their hushed conversation.

"Let's go, I don't want to be here when Uncle Jackson gets back." Cheyenne said, walking out the door and towards the school, the twins following her. They were quiet for once. But for Cheyenne, the silence was uncomfortable. "You know, you guys did the right thing by not attacking that Kelly boy. He was there on accident. Uncle Jackson never listens to reason, and you know that." The smaller girl flipped around in front of them. "But ignoring his abuse as if it's non-existant isn't going to help! You two are 19, you're allowed to challenge him for the right of Pack Leader! At least then he wouldn't be able to hurt you guys." Cheyenne hated her Uncle, even thought he was really her father. The twins said nothing, so Cheyenne just continued walking and tried to ignore the people who stared as they walked in the front doors of Camas High School.

Lucas wanted to punch his clock, badly. But it was his fourth one this year and his father had said if he broke one more he'd have to wake up on his onw so instead he shut it off and rolled over. Belle would wake him when it was time to be late for school. Before he could even close his eyes he felt a weight on the edge of the bed and an unusually chipper voice said " Good morning lazybone! Achoo! Time to rise and shine." He rolled over and saw Loryn sitting on the edge of his bed, blurry eyed and stuffy nosed. She had clearly caught a cold from the water last night. "Why are you so happy? One it's a school day and two you're sick." She grinned and bounced up and down. "Exactly, Mom says I get to stay home and be her widdle, sick kitten." He rolled his eyes and literally fell out of bed, bringing Loryn down with him in a fit of giggles. He wrapped her up in the sheets and put her on the bed. "Stay kitty, I've got to get ready for school. Good looks like mine don't just happen you know." He could feel her rolling her eyes as he styled his hair. Belle, god bless her, had already laid out an outfit for him so all he had to do was grab a jacket to cover the scars on his arms and he was ready to go.

He ran downstairs, grabbed a waffle out of the toaster, said goodbye to his family and made it outside just as Marie and Belle were about to pull off. Marie drove them to school every morning before work but they usually had to find their own rides home. He hopped into the back seat of Marie's convertible and began to munch on the waffle. When they finally arrived at school he hopped out, waved goodbye to Marie and ran inside before Belle could ask any questions about last night. His arms and chest still stung and he wasn't really ready to talk about how he had almost gotten himself and Loryn killed. He was so focused on getting away from Belle that he ran straight into the back of a girl with snow-colored hair.

Cheyenne could hear someone come up behind her, but she was surprised when the person almost ran into her. "Watch it." David snapped. Cheyenne punched her cousin's arm and turned to apologize. "Sorry, I was walking slow. You okay?" She asked, finding a boy with bright orange hair standing there. She didn't know who the boy was, but she smiled a bit when she noticed a girl named Belle walk up behind him. Belle had saved Cheyenne from bullies once and the white-haired girl hoped to return the favor one day. She also hoped to be able to talk someone into telling her Belle's last name, then she might be able to find her address and send her a Thank You card or something.

Cheyenne waved at Belle with a smile and went to say hello, but Desirae tugged on her arm before words could form. "C'mon Chell, we should go. You're gonna be late for class." The Senior said. Cheyenne nodded. "Nice meeting you..." She said, turning around and walking in the direction of her class. She just barely noticed the twins glare daggers at the boy, and she wondered why, but didn't give any thought to it. Instead she ignored her cousins' protective instincts as they practically clung to her the entire way to her classroom.

Before Lucas could even turn around he smelled it, the scent of wolves and it looked like he had just run into a whole trio of them. There was the one in the middle that he had run into and two flanking her, twins by the look of them. They looked like an ice cream sandwich, cookie 1, ice creme, and cookie 2, and it took all he had to keep from laughing. Cookies 1 and 2 looked pretty miffed at him and he was about to apologize when the creme herself beat him to it. Before he could even say anything cookies 1 and 2 had already stormed off with ice creme safely in between. The whole scene was like a joke to him and after his last encounter with wolves he intended to enjoy such a comical meeting.

As soon as the three had left Lucas burst out laughing. This earned him a punch in the arm from Belle. " Just what do you think you were doing back there? Running straight into those wolves like that, are you trying to start a fight?" Lucas put an arm around his sister, she was so serious sometimes he really needed to teach her how to lighten up. "Oh relax Captain Buzzkill it was an accident. I was going to apologize but she beat me to it and then the other two-" He started to laugh again. The bell was about to ring so he walked while talking and laughing. "Did you see how they practically dragged her away? Oh, and the look! If looks could kill I'd be a dead man right now. They sure do take this feud thing seriously. Anyhow, the one in the middle seemed nice enough. D'you know her I kind of want to apologize for running into her like that." He looked around only to find that he was talking to no one. He could see Belle in the distance with a group of girls, chatting and giggling. Lucas rolled his eyes and walked in the direction of his homeroom.<So much for family> he thought to himself but he didn't really have time to dwell on it. He made it to class just as the bell rang and slid into his desk near the back window. As the teacher droned on about some pep rally or other Lucas slipped into his usual habit of sketching whatever came to mind but today all he could draw were ice creme sandwiches.

Cheyenne sat through all of Algebra, trying her best to concentrate, but her thoughts kept flipping back to the boy and Belle. Come to think of it, he looked a lot like Belle. Maybe they were siblings. It didn't matter, but Cheyenne now understood that Belle's last name was Kelly. The twins never glare the way they did at those two, those glares only come when the two families are near each other. Which meant that maybe the boy was a Kelly too, which meant he might know what happened with the tigers last night, which meant maybe he could help her to find out who it was so she could see if the tiger from the night before was okay. The cub had scratched him up pretty badly.

Cheyenne's string of thought was interrupted by the bell. It as then that she realized she had done absolutely nothing all period, and she would have to make up an excuse later. 'Ugh, this feud gets in the way of everything...' She knew that there was no possible way she would be able to get close enough to a Kelly to just say hello, much less ask questions about things their family probably didn't even know about. She shoved the thoughts out of her mind as she walked to her next class, which just happened to be Gym. That would definitely get her mind off the Kelly family. She had always loved P.E. and she was good at it, since being a wolf meant you stayed fit no matter how much you ate and slacked off.

By the end of first period Lucas had filled 4 notebook pages with nothing but vanilla ice creme. He wondered what was wrong with him, he was probably just hungry. He decided he would go for some ice creme after school and get his mind off of it. His next class was Music, his favorite. He had to pay attention, or at least pretend to since Belle was also in this class. They were working on a piano duet together and she would know something was up if he couldn't keep his head out of the clouds. He wondered if Ice Creme was the white wolf from the night before. In the absence of a name he had started calling the snowy haired girl Ice Creme and the twins Cookies 1 and 2.

Since it was clear that Belle was going to be of no assistance in helping him to apologize he started to think about other ways he could talk to Ice Creme without seeming suspicious. He couldn't just bump into her again, he wasn't that clumsy. He considered inviting her for actual ice creme that afternoon but he didn't even know her name and even he wasn't forward enough to ask a complete stranger to hang out. His biggest problem right now seemed to be getting Ice Creme away from the Cookies but given his track record he was probably the last person they'd leave her alone with. Maybe if he could find her locker he could discreetly leave her a note asking her to meet him somewhere. That way only she would get it and if she wanted to come she could and if she didn't, well he'd get the message. The more he thought about it the better it sounded. Unfortunately the more he thought about it the less he thought about music and he messed up the same note, for the fourth time in a row. For now he concentrated on music but during lunch he resolved to put his plan into action.

Cheyenne's thoughts of the Kelly boy were subsided long enough for her to win 4 games of Dodgeball in a row, but as soon as she walked into the Cafeteria he popped up in her mind. She ate her lunch in silence, the twins were back to normal and chatty as ever, but it felt off. Like they were trying to look normal but weren't. She decided to ignore them. As soon as Lunch ended, she rushed out to her locker. Her next class was World History, her absolute favorite, and she didn't want to be late. She spotted the twins talking to Ben ((Her cousin)). Any other part of the day and she would've walked over to join them but her class was calling to her. She shut her locker and raced to class, giddy with joy and excitement.

((Sorry it's so short, I didn't know what else to put. And I LOVE the Ice Creme Sandwich reference! I never thought of it~))

For the first time in his life Lucas Kelly was the first one out the door of his Music class. He had written the note in the last few minutes of class when he was supposed to be correcting some sheet music but he didn't think anybody noticed. It was safely tucked away in his jacket pocket, now all he had to do was figure out just which locker was hers. He bought a burger from one of the vendors around the school and simply wandered around trying to catch a glimpse of her. Some of the other soccer team members invited him to join their impromptu training session out on the field but he had to decline. As he walked he got a few other offers to sit and eat from various other groups but he wasn't feeling very social today.

When the bell signaling the end of lunch rang he was about to give up and just head to his math class when he saw her. She didn't stay long at her locker but it was long enough for him to memorize the number without seeming suspicious. When she left he casually strolled over and leaned against it. He struck up a conversation with a nearby acquaintance so as not to seem out of place. Cookies 1 and 2 were still nearby but he didn't think they had smelled him yet. He quickly slipped the note into her locker, said his goodbyes and walked briskly to class. The note read simply "Sorry about earlier, meet me at the soccer field at 4:00 so I can formally apologize."

((No problem and thanks! It's 12:40 am here so I must be off to bed, good night!))

During class, Cheyenne's thoughts of the Kelly boy didn't come up as much bit they were still there, and she ended up turning their families into Algebra terms and making up an equation that didn't even have an answer. But it didn't matter. She had already decided that her plan was a lost cause, so she continued through class as normal, raising her hand after every question and getting them all correct. She had been awarded Student Of The Day by the time the bell rang. "Chell, c'mon." At first Cheyenne thought it was one of the twins who came to her class, but she turned to see Ben standing in the doorway instead. He walked her to her locker and the two engaged in a pleasant conversation while Cheyenne traded out her textbooks.

And then, just as she was pulling out her Creative Writing notebook, she noticed the tiny piece of folded paper sitting in the corner of her metal locker. She pretended not to notice it until the bell rang and Ben walked off to class. As soon as he was gone, Cheyenne picked up the paper and tucked it in her pocket before closing her locker and rushing down the hall to class. She sat in her desk just as the last chime ended. 'I wonder what this is...' She pondered over the paper before finally opening it up when no one was looking. Not that anyone ever looked her way as it is. As soon as she read the words she started going through a list of who could have written the note: Not either of the twins because it wasn't their handwriting, and they could just tell her at home. Couldn't be an admirer either because they wouldn't be saying sorry about something. And she couldn't imagine why anyone else would stick an apology note in her locker.

Her thoughts shifted back to the orange haired boy from that morning. Apologizing for bumping into her, the handwriting seemed like it would be from a male, and the ink was orange like his hair. It fit. But how would she get away from her family to meet up with him? The twins had Football practice today, so she didn't have to worry about them. Ben never gave a shit about anything she did. It was her Uncle she would have to worry about. He would ask her questions of her whereabouts if she had been 5 minutes late getting home...didn't matter. He was gone for the day, out hunting. So by the end of class, Cheyenne had decided she would meet up with the boy. She even wrote a short story about what it might be like, just for fun~

((Okay, good night!))

Lucas sat back and let his teacher drone on about quadratics. He had delivered the note and he was confident that she would come. Who didn't like a bit of mystery in their life? All through class he amused himself in various ways, balancing pencils on his fingers, throwing paper airplanes and passing notes. No one really bothered to say anything, not even his teacher since this was fairly normal behavior for him. He would do nothing in class all day, then go home and teach himself the lesson. He never failed a lesson and since he wasn't really distracting anybody else the teachers usually left him alone. Lucas was only a sophomore but he had the laid-back attitude of a senior about to graduate.

When school finally ended Lucas went to the locker room to change. He had soccer practice from 3 to 4 so no one would bat an eye if he came home later than usual. Plus the rest of the team wouldn't find it hard to believe that a girl had come to talk to him after practice. Most of their girlfriends came to watch them practice anyway. So for now he kept his eyes on the ball and ran drills with the team but every now and then he'd sneak a peek at the bleachers looking for an ice creme sandwich, just without the cookies.

When class ended, Cheyenne handed in the story about the note as her assignment for the day, almost sorry about preaching the incident to her teacher. If her teacher believed it anyways. The rest of the day passed by quickly, and sooner then she would've liked, she found herself walking out towards the bleachers. She then realized. The twins would be at Football practice on the field next door, and if they noticed she was still at school...no, it would be fine. They wouldn't be able to do anything even if they did see her.

Arriving at the bleachers, Cheyenne wasn't surprised to find that the only people there were a bunch of preppy girls wearing way too much makeup. She sat as far away from them as possible, at the bottom of the bleachers so the wind couldn't carry her scent to the Football team. She spent her time doodling and listening to Bach while the game went on. Occasionally she would look up and catch people staring at her in disgust, but she could never tell if the orange-haired boy noticed her, and she didn't necessarily care. By the end of the game she had even given him a nickname: Orange Serbet. It matched his hair color and was amusing to think of. She just hoped it would stick.

As practice went on Lucas found himself looking at the bleachers more and more often until he finally saw her. She was sitting apart from all the other girls, near the bottom of the bleachers. She wasn't really watching what was happening on the field but that was fine with him. He could finally focus on practice now that he didn't have to worry about the note. Lucas got a fresh burst of energy and finally started playing like himself. No one could touch him when he got the ball, the only one who stood a chance of stopping him from scoring was Nicky, the goalie and Lucas's best friend. He ran down the field in full control of the ball, dodging defenders like they weren't even there until finally it was just him and Nicky. He took the shot and sent the ball rocketing towards the upper left hand corner. Just when he was sure it was going in, Nicky dove forward and snatched it straight out of the air. Nicky was just about to throw it back when Coach blew the whistle. It was 4 o'clock, practice was over.

Lucas gave Nicky a pat on the back and acknowledged some of the others as he made his way towards the bench for some water. From then on he just killed time, pretending to run drills on his own until most everyone had cleared out. He checked the bleachers to make sure she was till there and sure enough there she was with a sketchbook in her hand and headphones on. They were the only ones on the field now and as he made his way over to her he waved to get her attention. "Hey there, I see you got my note."

Cheyenne heard the boy walk over, so she took out her headphones. "Yes, I did. You're very lucky my cousins didn't notice you put it in there. They've been watching you like hawks all day you know" She said in reply to him. She closed her sketchbook and set it beside her on the bench, setting her iPod on top of it, and extending her hand out to him. "I'm Cheyenne White. I'm pretty sure you already know I'm a wolf, so there's no need for an explanation there. And sorry about my cousins, they're just...protective. And rude." The twins were indeed both protective but very rude to most people. They had a good reason since almost every person attending Camas High School had bullied Cheyenne at some point, but not everyone had, and she didn't think it was necessary for them to follow her everywhere.

Cheyenne tried not to think about all the questions she wanted to ask. She knew that if she thought about them too much, they would all burst out and probably freak out the poor kid, and she definitely didn't need that. But her curiosity was so large: she wanted to know who the tigers were, why the cub had gone feral, how she was able to even get within 20 feet of their house, everything. But Cheyenne knew it would be a bit impolite to just ask a stranger a bunch of personal questions when the two were supposed to be killing each other. So she stayed quiet and waited for a response.

Lucas smiled and sat down next to her. Even though he had just finished working out his uniform and the towel around his shoulders still smelled like fresh laundry. He prided himself on his appearance and he saw no reason why he had to smell like a zoo every time he finished exercising. Every piece of clothing he owned had been thoroughly doused in his own personal cologne so that no matter what he wore he always smelled like lilacs and fresh linen. "Yeah I know. I don't think they like me very much but then again they do have a reason not to, several reasons actually." He offered her a well manicured hand in friendship "I'm Lucas by the way, sorry for running into you this morning."

Lucas smiled, he could tell she had questions but he was in no hurry to go anywhere and he didn't mind giving answers. If curiosity killed the cat then it was a good thing she was a wolf. It was funny, just this morning he had his mind made up that he would go straight to the ice creme shop after practice and yet here he was, miles away from the shop and fine with it. He could go for a come anytime but for now he just wanted to sit and talk with this White. She could ask him all the questions she wanted; so long as she answered a few of his in return.

After moments of pondering, Cheyenne gave in to her better judgement and decided to ask him her questions. "I was wondering," She began. "Would you happen to know about two tigers crossing onto our estate last night? A cub and an older male. I don't want the information to get them into trouble or anything, but the male got scratched up pretty bad by the feral cub, and I just wanted to make sure he wasn't too badly injured." She figured that the tigers would be able to recognize her scent if they met her again, but there was no telling whether the tiger still attended school or not. "Sorry if the question's a bit personal. You don't have to answer. Frankly, I'm surprised you're actually sitting here and talking instead of trying to kill me. The twins would take the opportunity in a second..."
